00:01:13 --> 00:01:19 Eastern Time on 101.5 The Fever Internet Radio. I'm hanging out with my partner,
00:01:20 --> 00:01:21 Mr. Leonard Young, what's going on, sir?
00:01:22 --> 00:01:26 Hey, Dave, everything is good. This is Leonard Young, CEO of National Black
00:01:26 --> 00:01:32 Guide, DelawareBlack.com, black media specialist, all-around good guy. How goes it, Dave?
00:01:33 --> 00:01:35 Oh, I can't complain, man. You know...
00:01:36 --> 00:01:40 It's always live, man. You know, we wake up in the morning, we peep outside.
00:01:40 --> 00:01:42 We said, what kind of day this is going to be today?
00:01:42 --> 00:01:47 And we don't know what kind. We got a smorgasbord of weather happening right now.
00:01:47 --> 00:01:51 You know, so one day we can have Sunday. Almost like spin the bottle.
00:01:51 --> 00:01:54 I know. Sunday we can go outside in shorts and T-shirt.
00:01:54 --> 00:01:59 And then the next day be back in our jackets and sweaters and so forth.
00:02:00 --> 00:02:03 So, you know, but, you know, what can we say, man?
00:02:03 --> 00:02:08 It is what it is. And this is the thing, you know, the weather's changed so
00:02:08 --> 00:02:15 much that we, you know, we even were able to catch up with our other co-hosts.
00:02:15 --> 00:02:19 We have a co-host, people, in case you guys didn't know it, you know,
00:02:19 --> 00:02:23 but he shows up maybe once or twice a year because he's so busy,
00:02:23 --> 00:02:25 you know, and he feels sorry for us every now and then.
00:02:26 --> 00:02:31 He comes and hangs out with us. But I want to welcome our co-hosts,
00:02:31 --> 00:02:36 our lost and found, we found them, I guess, Leonard, co-hosts, Mr.
00:02:37 --> 00:02:40 Tim, DJ Tim Dahl, Baird.
00:02:41 --> 00:02:46 What's going on, sir? Hey, what's up, fellas? How y'all doing? Long time no see.
00:02:49 --> 00:02:53 Everything's good. Hey, how's everybody doing? Yes, this is your man,
00:02:53 --> 00:02:57 Tim Byard, by the way, Mr. Oh, well, you changed your name up.
00:02:57 --> 00:03:01 You know, you said your name to me like three different ways. You know that. I know.
00:03:01 --> 00:03:05 But I pronounced it by yourself. I know. You pronounce it conveniently with
00:03:05 --> 00:03:07 whatever way you want to pronounce it. That's what you do.
00:03:08 --> 00:03:11 Yes, sir. Okay. Okay. That's DJ Tingo.
00:03:11 --> 00:03:15 This is DJ Tumdog, Wilmington, Delaware. It's a pleasure to be on the show.
00:03:16 --> 00:03:18 I miss you guys. It's been a minute since I've been on here.
00:03:18 --> 00:03:24 Thanks for having me, as always. And, yes, I'll be co-hosting some of the shows when Mr.
00:03:24 --> 00:03:30 Young can't be there or Mr. Coker can't be there. So I'll be making sure I'm
00:03:30 --> 00:03:32 on the show. So it's good to see you guys.
00:03:33 --> 00:03:39 They've got all the jokes. Yeah. But welcome, welcome, sir.
00:03:39 --> 00:03:43 Welcome hanging out with us tonight. I hope everything is well in your world.
00:03:43 --> 00:03:47 Yeah, it's been real good. It's been busy since the last time I was on the show
00:03:47 --> 00:03:48 and talked to everybody.
00:03:48 --> 00:03:51 It's been extremely busy. But, hey, before we even get any further,
00:03:51 --> 00:03:55 I just want to congratulate the two of you for all the success you guys have
00:03:55 --> 00:03:57 had with the show. It's been phenomenal.
00:03:57 --> 00:04:00 I listen to the show. I'm an avid listener.
00:04:00 --> 00:04:04 You know, I really enjoy Dave's Corner. Sorry, Leonard. Dave's Corner.
00:04:04 --> 00:04:05 It was pretty cool. What?
00:04:07 --> 00:04:10 Hey, Tim. Tim, let me put you on mute real quick. Oh, man.
00:04:14 --> 00:04:16 My favorite segment is, you know,
00:04:17 --> 00:04:20 You know, Dave's Corner is one of my favorite segments. A lot of my friends
00:04:20 --> 00:04:24 and my fans listen to the show. So, again, congratulations to you guys on all your success.
00:04:24 --> 00:04:29 Thank you, sir. Thank you. And we appreciate it. Hey, Tim, we appreciate everything
00:04:29 --> 00:04:31 you said except for the Dave's Corner part.
00:04:32 --> 00:04:37 But for people who haven't caught up, for people who haven't caught up with
00:04:37 --> 00:04:42 you, kind of tell us what you've been up to this year. Because I already know you stayed busy.
00:04:42 --> 00:04:47 Oh, yeah. Yeah, so far, it's been a pretty good beginning of 2026 for me.
00:04:47 --> 00:04:53 My year started off with me providing entertainment for Mother Africa Yumi Church,
00:04:54 --> 00:04:56 their watch night service. That's how my year started.
00:04:56 --> 00:05:01 From there, it's been nonstop. I just did a show last Saturday.
00:05:02 --> 00:05:04 Excuse me one second. My grandson just walked in. Hang on.
00:05:05 --> 00:05:09 Listen, first of all, I'm doing a show right now. So look, tell everybody hi. Say hi.
00:05:09 --> 00:05:12 He's trying to say hi. I'm going to take this back out of my moment,
00:05:12 --> 00:05:15 okay? I don't want to eat it. Okay, but you don't have to eat it.
00:05:15 --> 00:05:16 Pop, I've got to end the show. Okay?
00:05:17 --> 00:05:21 All right, well, hold on. So, last week, I actually did a show with Big Daddy
00:05:21 --> 00:05:24 Kane for Oya Gilbert, also known as Grand G.
00:05:24 --> 00:05:28 I know you guys had him on y'all's show last year. Yeah. His hip-hop ball. Yeah.
00:05:29 --> 00:05:32 So, this year, he had Big Daddy Kane there, so I happened to be the DJ for Big
00:05:32 --> 00:05:34 Daddy Kane. So, that was a lot of fun.
00:05:34 --> 00:05:37 Oya raised more funds. He's got another big event coming up later on.
00:05:38 --> 00:05:42 I have some other events going on. We did Mr. Coker's birthday party early this year.
00:05:43 --> 00:05:46 So, again, happy belated birthday to you and all your Pisces out there, sir.
00:05:47 --> 00:05:51 Of course, my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. I'll be the big 6-0,
00:05:52 --> 00:05:55 Leonard. I'm turning 60 this year, man. Damn! Yeah.
00:05:58 --> 00:06:01 So, yeah, I'll be turning 60. My birthday is in a couple of weeks.
00:06:02 --> 00:06:06 It's actually going to be April the 11th at Timothy's on the Roadfront.
00:06:06 --> 00:06:10 We're talking, you know, one of the head DJs there. I'm doing an event for your fraternity Mr.
00:06:11 --> 00:06:15 Young Alpha Phi Alpha on May 2nd at Delaware Park so I'm looking forward to
00:06:15 --> 00:06:18 that show every day so I'm looking forward to that,
00:06:18 --> 00:06:21 Got a lot of other things coming up. Of course, the biggie coming up this summer
00:06:21 --> 00:06:25 is the Black Music Festival, St. Bailey, coming up this year.
00:06:25 --> 00:06:27 He has the tribute band of Earth, Wind & Fire.
00:06:28 --> 00:06:34 So I'll be the headlining DJ and the DJ on tap for that, along with other events
00:06:34 --> 00:06:35 I got coming up this year.
00:06:35 --> 00:06:39 So, so far, so good. So it's been a good year so far.
00:06:40 --> 00:06:43 Okay. I mean, that definitely sounds busy. You've been on the move. Yeah.
00:06:44 --> 00:06:49 Now, that's just the DJing part. for a day job, but I only want to get to my day job.
00:06:50 --> 00:06:55 That's a whole other discussion that we can have that I know your listeners
00:06:55 --> 00:06:59 will probably be wanting to discuss because it's really close to my heart.
00:07:00 --> 00:07:04 As Mr. Coca knows, I'm a caseworker for the state of Delaware.
00:07:05 --> 00:07:08 And one of the biggest issues we have here in Delaware, of course,
00:07:08 --> 00:07:11 across the country, is the homeless situation.
00:07:11 --> 00:07:19 And I'm in the middle of all that. I case manage the homeless folks that's living in the tents.
00:07:19 --> 00:07:23 We're the ones that go out there. We make sure they got the necessities they
00:07:23 --> 00:07:26 need to survive. We give them bottled water, food, clothing.
00:07:27 --> 00:07:31 Shelter if they need it. And sometimes all they really need is somebody to talk to.
00:07:32 --> 00:07:35 And that's my day job. I do that during the week. And of course,
00:07:35 --> 00:07:40 with the weather changing, as Dave eloquently said, the weather's like a roller
00:07:40 --> 00:07:42 coaster right now. You don't know where, what day we're going to get.
00:07:43 --> 00:07:46 You know, one day it can be warm. Hang on for a second, baby.
00:07:46 --> 00:07:49 One day it can be warm, next day it can be cold. You know,
00:07:49 --> 00:07:53 so we just make sure that they're safe and you
00:07:53 --> 00:07:55 know we just do our very best this we had a rough
00:07:55 --> 00:08:01 winter and dave will tell you there's been some days i was like oh i'm not making
00:08:01 --> 00:08:06 it out here but especially no snowstorms we had right uh it was it was tough
00:08:06 --> 00:08:10 but we got through it and um we're gonna keep pushing we're gonna keep pressing
00:08:10 --> 00:08:14 on you know so you know i've been a thorn in the side i will admit i've been
00:08:14 --> 00:08:15 a thorn inside the city of Wompton.
00:08:16 --> 00:08:21 Yeah, I am. But it was a good thorn. So a lot of the things that we brought
00:08:21 --> 00:08:24 to light is now starting to take fruit.
00:08:25 --> 00:08:28 Some shelters are being open and opening up quietly.
00:08:29 --> 00:08:31 Some of the homeless that were out there are being taken care of.
00:08:31 --> 00:08:34 We found shelters for them. We got a lot of folks in therapy.
00:08:35 --> 00:08:41 So, you know, we've been doing good work. So shout out to the Bridge Clinic on my work floor.
00:08:41 --> 00:08:45 And we do good work, so we just keep it going. So that's what I do.
00:08:46 --> 00:08:51 Let me piggyback on what Kim just said. For those that may be listening,
00:08:52 --> 00:08:59 his division and others that have worked tirelessly as far as the homeless population,
00:08:59 --> 00:09:03 they have done a great job, really.
00:09:03 --> 00:09:06 I also work for the state too. For those who've been listening,
00:09:06 --> 00:09:09 they know that I work for the state as well.
00:09:09 --> 00:09:16 And, you know, what they've had to do over this period of time in dealing with
00:09:16 --> 00:09:19 the homeless population has been yeoman's work.
00:09:20 --> 00:09:25 And so for the job that they've done and trying to make sure that the people
00:09:25 --> 00:09:31 are taken care of as best as they can be and to try to make sure they have the
00:09:31 --> 00:09:32 resources available, that's,
00:09:33 --> 00:09:38 The Bridge Clinic where Tim works and also give a shout out to the Friendship
00:09:38 --> 00:09:41 House, who's been a major player in this whole thing as well,
00:09:42 --> 00:09:43 and the city of Wilmington.
00:09:43 --> 00:09:48 It's been really, we have to give everybody kudos as far as that's concerned
00:09:48 --> 00:09:53 in trying to help the people that need the most help.
00:09:53 --> 00:09:58 And, you know, now, now, and for those that are listening, you know,
00:09:58 --> 00:10:02 just keep in mind, get ready to transition into a whole new thing now because
00:10:02 --> 00:10:06 we got warm weather coming in now and hot weather coming in.
00:10:06 --> 00:10:10 So that's a whole different transition now, you know, trying to make sure that
00:10:10 --> 00:10:12 nobody is out there, you know,
00:10:13 --> 00:10:17 dying of heat strokes and stuff like that, you know, and making sure that there's
00:10:17 --> 00:10:22 cooling stations and so forth that they can go to and hopefully get a lot of
00:10:22 --> 00:10:25 them inside because, you know, not everybody wants to be inside.
00:10:25 --> 00:10:29 And that's also challenging in itself as well.
00:10:30 --> 00:10:36 But thank you to Tim and people in his department and the other departments
00:10:36 --> 00:10:39 that are doing so much to help the homeless population.
00:10:40 --> 00:10:43 So kudos to you. And I'll leave y'all with this one question.
00:10:44 --> 00:10:48 Caveat about the homeless. Everyone looks at the homeless as,
00:10:48 --> 00:10:51 you know, being substance abuse users and drug abuse users, things of that nature.
00:10:52 --> 00:10:56 That's not the case. Ladies and gentlemen, some of these folks are just for hard times.
00:10:57 --> 00:11:01 Economics, the economy, basically they're living paycheck to paycheck.
00:11:01 --> 00:11:07 And some of them, they miss one paycheck, their homes, just like snap the finger, sit that fast.
00:11:07 --> 00:11:11 So some of them, like I've seen families, literally families,
00:11:11 --> 00:11:18 You know, one day they're okay, 30 days later, 45 days later, they're on the street.
00:11:18 --> 00:11:23 You know, with all the real estate going, building around the city of Wilmington,
00:11:24 --> 00:11:27 the state of Delaware, and of course across the country, you know,
00:11:27 --> 00:11:30 some folks just can't do it.
00:11:30 --> 00:11:34 They can't do it. So, like Dave always knows, I always say that guy playing
00:11:34 --> 00:11:42 president, you know, he just don't care about what's really going on with the American public.
00:11:42 --> 00:11:47 He really doesn't. He's like completely out of town. You talk to him about some money.
00:11:47 --> 00:11:50 Yeah, you get his ears come up and the ears get bigger. Yeah.
00:11:51 --> 00:11:56 Talking about the economy when it comes to overall being concerned about the American public.
00:11:57 --> 00:11:59 There's no clue. No clue. Yeah.
00:11:59 --> 00:12:05 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, well, hopefully things continue to get better, so.
00:12:06 --> 00:12:10 Okay, with that being said, we're going to move into our show.
00:12:10 --> 00:12:12 We got a couple stories to talk about.
00:12:14 --> 00:12:17 I figured I'd start with this particular story.
00:12:19 --> 00:12:26 This says, forget the burgers. This restaurant's name just sparked a full-blown culture war.
00:12:26 --> 00:12:29 Uh-oh, this ought to be good. Yeah, it is. Believe me, it is.
00:12:29 --> 00:12:35 Okay I saw this I said whoa okay so I'm gonna read a little bit of it says,
00:12:36 --> 00:12:44 What happens when a small Argentine restaurant picks the most inflammatory name imaginable?
00:12:44 --> 00:12:50 Millions of views, the tourism boom, and a debate nobody asked for.
00:12:50 --> 00:12:55 In the annals of things that should not exist, but absolutely do,
00:12:56 --> 00:13:05 a small delivery-only burger joint in Buenos Aires province has claimed the throne.
00:13:05 --> 00:13:12 The name of the place is the Big N.I.G.G.A.
00:13:12 --> 00:13:13 Burgers.
00:13:13 --> 00:13:17 Yes, that's what it's called. Ouch. Okay.
00:13:18 --> 00:13:19 That's not fair.
00:13:21 --> 00:13:27 And it has somehow managed to accomplish what diplomats and global summits cannot,
00:13:27 --> 00:13:34 sparking a full-blown culture war between Argentina and the English-speaking Internet.
00:13:34 --> 00:13:42 One double cheeseburger at a time. Welcome to Lava Lot, where the menu is smash
00:13:42 --> 00:13:46 burgers and the name is a choice.
00:13:48 --> 00:13:51 Now, it gives a little bit about the menu and prices.
00:13:51 --> 00:13:55 It says menu and prices, the food, because believe it or not,
00:13:55 --> 00:14:02 they actually sell burgers. Buried beneath the ambulance of social media outrage is the inconvenience.
00:14:02 --> 00:14:09 The fact that the big N word burgers does, in fact, serve food.
00:14:09 --> 00:14:16 The menu is aggressively straightforward, specializing in American-style smash burgers.
00:14:16 --> 00:14:22 The promo cheese double, the flagship offering, includes two double cheese burgers
00:14:22 --> 00:14:25 featuring 80 grams of cheese.
00:14:25 --> 00:14:32 Of patties, cheddar cheese, and the kind of greasy glamour shots that dominate that Instagram feed,
00:14:33 --> 00:14:41 alongside two small portions of fries, priced approximately $18 ARS.
00:14:41 --> 00:14:44 Roughly $18 to $20 in U.S.
00:14:44 --> 00:14:49 Dollars, depending on how charitable the blue dollar exchange is feeling.
00:14:49 --> 00:14:53 Beverages are standard issue Coca-Cola
00:14:53 --> 00:14:56 products Fanta and flavored waters No word
00:14:56 --> 00:15:00 yet on whether The serve Serving size
00:15:00 --> 00:15:03 of cultural The serve A side
00:15:03 --> 00:15:06 of cultural sensitivity The viral
00:15:06 --> 00:15:10 moment How TikTok broke the Anglosphere The
00:15:10 --> 00:15:17 restaurant's journey from obscure Lava Lot delivery spot To international pariah
00:15:17 --> 00:15:27 Tourism The destination began in early 2024 with a TikTok video from a user in the clip,
00:15:28 --> 00:15:31 which was immediately screenshotted,
00:15:31 --> 00:15:35 reposted, and dissected across X, formerly Twitter.
00:15:35 --> 00:15:40 The creator stared at his phone in genuine disbelief.
00:15:41 --> 00:15:50 He declared the restaurant was doing their own racism and jokingly suggested the U.S.
00:15:50 --> 00:15:56 Should expel Argentina from Latin America and make Canada the new Latina.
00:15:57 --> 00:16:02 It was intended as comedy. What followed was anything but.
00:16:02 --> 00:16:12 The video amassed millions of views, accounts like L-Duck and regional outlets such as LaDurisha,
00:16:12 --> 00:16:21 Dario amplified it, and suddenly a tiny burger shop in Buenos Aires suburbs
00:16:21 --> 00:16:27 became the center of geopolitical, linguistical firestorm.
00:16:27 --> 00:16:33 In Argentina, the Spanish word negro and its various forms is thrown around
00:16:33 --> 00:16:40 with the casualness of a friend saying, believe it or not, the word dude, D-U-D-E.
00:16:41 --> 00:16:47 It functions as a nickname, a term of endearment, or simply a descriptor for
00:16:47 --> 00:16:52 someone with dark hair or slightly tanned skin.
00:16:52 --> 00:16:58 It carries none of the centuries of racial violence and systematic oppression
00:16:58 --> 00:17:01 that defines its English language counterparts.
00:17:01 --> 00:17:09 Many Argentines and restaurant defenders argued that the owners likely thought the name sounded cool,
00:17:09 --> 00:17:16 edgy, and nodded to American hip-hop culture without any understanding of the
00:17:16 --> 00:17:21 global grenade they were casually tossing into the room.
00:17:23 --> 00:17:29 That's a lot. That's a lot. That's a lot. Okay. That's a lot.
00:17:29 --> 00:17:33 So, well, since you're saying all that, Tim, what's your thoughts on that story?
00:17:34 --> 00:17:38 Well, you know, first of all, like I said, that's a lot.
00:17:39 --> 00:17:45 That's a lot. That's a lot. You know, I've never been down there to witness
00:17:45 --> 00:17:47 their culture. I don't know, Leonard, have you ever been down there?
00:17:47 --> 00:17:49 No, was that Argentina? No. Argentina?
00:17:50 --> 00:17:55 You know, I mean, the closest I've ever been to Argentina is when we went to,
00:17:55 --> 00:17:59 you know, Aruba, Carousel, Bonaire. That's the closest I've ever been down there. That's Venezuela.
00:17:59 --> 00:18:02 So, but I kind of,
00:18:03 --> 00:18:07 They said the key words in this whole thing was the term of endearment.
00:18:07 --> 00:18:12 We as black folks, you know, you know, think about it unconsciously.
00:18:12 --> 00:18:19 What we say, yo, that's my, that's my, you know, we say it all the time.
00:18:20 --> 00:18:24 Music has it in there all the time. And music has it in there all the time.
00:18:24 --> 00:18:32 And so if you're not a part of the American culture, then to them, that's normal.
00:18:32 --> 00:18:38 Because we we do it black african-americans we we say it all the time you know
00:18:38 --> 00:18:46 so they're like well that's just normal you'll be normal to them i mean so if the restaurant has a,
00:18:48 --> 00:18:49 hamburger called.
00:18:52 --> 00:18:57 In their world it's not racial i mean because they're thinking they're thinking outside the box.
00:18:58 --> 00:19:03 Because, like I stated, they see it in American culture.
00:19:03 --> 00:19:07 In the hip-hop, in the hip-hop world, you know, all these black shows is on
00:19:07 --> 00:19:09 it. They probably watch, you know.
00:19:09 --> 00:19:12 And everything nowadays is uncensored.
00:19:12 --> 00:19:15 Watch anything right now and everything's uncensored.
00:19:15 --> 00:19:21 So it's part of their... I'm going to safely assume that,
00:19:22 --> 00:19:27 To them, that's part of our American language. So for a restaurant to create
00:19:27 --> 00:19:29 a burger with that name in it.
00:19:29 --> 00:19:32 Well, no, it's not the burger.
00:19:32 --> 00:19:35 That's the name of the restaurant. Well, the restaurant, excuse me, the restaurant.
00:19:38 --> 00:19:44 I mean, really, you really can't say anything.
00:19:44 --> 00:19:49 I mean, because that's what they think is normal. What do you think?
00:19:50 --> 00:19:53 Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I kind of agree with Tim.
00:19:53 --> 00:19:57 So, like, if I went out of the country and I went somewhere and,
00:19:57 --> 00:20:00 you know, depending on how they were saying the word,
00:20:00 --> 00:20:05 you know, I mean, even though I know it's offensive and, you know,
00:20:05 --> 00:20:08 but it's almost like they don't know it's offensive.
00:20:08 --> 00:20:12 You know what I mean? And that's what they're saying because that's not the way they look at it.
00:20:12 --> 00:20:15 It doesn't mean the same thing over there. but you
00:20:15 --> 00:20:18 know coming over there as a uh you know like don't don't let dr
00:20:18 --> 00:20:21 umar you know someone paying african come over
00:20:21 --> 00:20:23 there you know he'd probably be looking to give
00:20:23 --> 00:20:26 everybody a lecture but you know i would almost compare it to
00:20:26 --> 00:20:31 here in america so i know and i'm sure everyone knows somebody like this back
00:20:31 --> 00:20:36 right right after i graduated high school everybody wanted to get those chinese
00:20:36 --> 00:20:41 letters tattoos on there yeah yeah people people people didn't know what it
00:20:41 --> 00:20:43 meant They ain't know the meaning. It was just like, it looked cool.
00:20:44 --> 00:20:46 Or people want to get the Arabic. It just looked cool.
00:20:47 --> 00:20:50 So, you know, I mean, I think it's probably just the same thing.
00:20:50 --> 00:20:51 Like, you know, they thought it was cool.
00:20:52 --> 00:20:57 They knew it was a popular word over here, which it is, for good and for bad.
00:20:57 --> 00:20:59 And they just kind of ran with it.
00:21:00 --> 00:21:05 Yeah. Yeah. Well, I think more so they, you know, in looking at...
00:21:06 --> 00:21:10 What the popular is which is the the culture
00:21:10 --> 00:21:13 as far as the music and you know the way the
00:21:13 --> 00:21:16 kids dress and all of that stuff did probably and
00:21:16 --> 00:21:20 and like it says in the article it was cool you know they thought it was cool
00:21:20 --> 00:21:25 and all of that stuff you know they figured that would be a good thing to name
00:21:25 --> 00:21:30 it and consider and combine it with what they said that just meant dude to them
00:21:30 --> 00:21:34 or somebody with dark hair and slightly darker skin,
00:21:34 --> 00:21:39 but they didn't take it as a negative connotation to it.
00:21:40 --> 00:21:43 Because, of course, it's, you know, another side of the world.
00:21:43 --> 00:21:45 You know, it's not where we are.
00:21:46 --> 00:21:50 And you imagine the guy who solved the place, who did the video,
00:21:51 --> 00:21:54 and the picture, took the picture, thinking, wait, hold on.
00:21:54 --> 00:21:58 You imagine being somewhere and seeing something like that, and you say,
00:21:58 --> 00:22:01 wait, hold on. That doesn't say what the thing is saying. Right.
00:22:01 --> 00:22:08 Right. Yeah. You know. Well, they tell the restaurant's customers,
00:22:08 --> 00:22:12 don't come over to America looking for that restaurant. Yeah. Yeah.
00:22:14 --> 00:22:19 Excuse me. Do you know where the... It ain't going to be a chain here.
00:22:19 --> 00:22:20 I can tell you that for sure. Right.
00:22:21 --> 00:22:25 Amen to that. Like I said, you know, because again, like I said,
00:22:26 --> 00:22:27 they're thinking it's normal.
00:22:27 --> 00:22:33 Now, let's think about this. how many black people go down to what is that Buenos
00:22:33 --> 00:22:35 Aires right am I saying that correctly yeah,
00:22:36 --> 00:22:40 When the restaurant's located? When it varies, yeah. Okay. So just think about
00:22:40 --> 00:22:42 how many black folk go down there on vacation. Right.
00:22:43 --> 00:22:49 And come across that restaurant. You know, they, it's going to be like, yo, what's this?
00:22:49 --> 00:22:52 You know, and they're trying to explain it. I'm like, we just think it's a term
00:22:52 --> 00:22:54 of endowment. And they're like,
00:22:54 --> 00:22:57 well, I'm offended. Now you got a culture shop. You got a culture shop.
00:22:58 --> 00:23:03 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I'm sure that that, you know, and of course,
00:23:03 --> 00:23:06 you know, There's more press being given to it now.
00:23:06 --> 00:23:10 I mean, you know, I'm sure you imagine how many tourists have probably been
00:23:10 --> 00:23:13 over there to see this place and to try their burgers.
00:23:13 --> 00:23:19 I mean, they're probably making a fortune over there. I wouldn't doubt it. Yeah.
00:23:20 --> 00:23:24 And charging $18 to $20 for the burger and so forth. You know,
00:23:25 --> 00:23:27 that's a nice piece of change.
00:23:27 --> 00:23:31 And, you know, I hope it's good. It didn't say anything about how good it was.
00:23:32 --> 00:23:34 If I'm going to spend $20 off on a burger, it better be good.
00:23:36 --> 00:23:39 Especially after the restaurant's name, it better be good.
00:23:41 --> 00:23:45 It's probably close the street from McDonald's. But anyway.
00:23:46 --> 00:23:50 Yeah, I was going to say, and I can't remember the exact name of it,
00:23:50 --> 00:23:55 but there's a restaurant somewhere in Florida,
00:23:55 --> 00:24:02 and the restaurant's name is similar to, you know, the word B-I-T-C-H. Oh, really?
00:24:02 --> 00:24:08 N-I-G-G-A. It's something like that, but it's an Asian restaurant.
00:24:08 --> 00:24:12 And I think they pronounce it a little bit differently. But when you look at
00:24:12 --> 00:24:16 the word, like if you phonetically pronounce it, you know, like that, that's what you get.
00:24:16 --> 00:24:20 I'm trying to see if I can find what it is.
00:24:20 --> 00:24:22 You sure too short don't own it?
00:24:24 --> 00:24:25 Right. Ha, ha, ha.
00:24:28 --> 00:24:33 Oh, yeah. Okay. So the restaurant, it's a cafe.
00:24:33 --> 00:24:41 The first is B-I-C-H-N-G-A. And those are two separate words.
00:24:41 --> 00:24:43 So the first word is B-I-C-H.
00:24:43 --> 00:24:46 And the second word is N-G-A.
00:24:48 --> 00:24:53 Okay. All right. Well, I'll tell you, freedom of speech.
00:24:53 --> 00:24:58 People put an envelope, you know, So, hey, you know, I guess nothing should
00:24:58 --> 00:24:59 surprise us anymore, you know?
00:25:00 --> 00:25:09 So, yeah, well, next time you get to Argentina, you know, let me know how it
00:25:09 --> 00:25:10 tastes, right? You know?
00:25:11 --> 00:25:17 Yeah. Yeah, because that's crazy. But I'm moving on to the next story.
00:25:19 --> 00:25:22 That is too funny. I saw that story. I said, I got to talk about this.
00:25:22 --> 00:25:25 I got to talk about this. Hey, that's crazy. Yeah, that is good.
00:25:25 --> 00:25:27 Makes a good conversation, though. Right.
00:25:29 --> 00:25:32 And when y'all get a test, look it up so you can see what the sign looks like
00:25:32 --> 00:25:36 on the outside. Yeah, I definitely want to do that. I'll definitely look that up. Yeah.
00:25:39 --> 00:25:45 From hospital janitor to doctor, Shea Taylor returns to Yale in full circle moments.
00:25:45 --> 00:25:48 I thought this was a great story. I just wanted to talk about this.
00:25:48 --> 00:25:53 He said, what started as a job cleaning hospital rooms has come full circle
00:25:53 --> 00:25:58 for Shea Taylor, who is now returning to the same institution as a doctor.
00:25:58 --> 00:26:05 Taylor, 32, is going viral after matching for a residency in anesthesiology
00:26:05 --> 00:26:13 at Yale New Haven Hospital, the very place where she once worked as a janitor for nearly a decade.
00:26:13 --> 00:26:19 Her emotional reaction captured on video during match day shows her jumping,
00:26:19 --> 00:26:28 screaming, and collapsing into the arms of loved ones at a moment that has resonated wildly online.
00:26:28 --> 00:26:35 After graduating in the top 10% of her class from high school in New Haven,
00:26:35 --> 00:26:40 Connecticut, Taylor says she lacked guidance on how to navigate college.
00:26:40 --> 00:26:44 I just didn't know what to do, she told Today magazine.
00:26:46 --> 00:26:51 My mom was single, and we didn't know anything about financial aid or application.
00:26:52 --> 00:26:57 We were kind of lost. Instead of enrolling in school, she began working at the
00:26:57 --> 00:27:02 hospital at age 18, cleaning patients' rooms and administrative spaces.
00:27:02 --> 00:27:08 Her path shifted dramatically years later when her mother became seriously ill following a house fire.
00:27:09 --> 00:27:15 Despite repeated hospital visits, Taylor said doctors initially dismissed her
00:27:15 --> 00:27:17 mother's symptoms as psychological.
00:27:17 --> 00:27:21 Here we go, Leonard, about how they treat us. You remember, you know,
00:27:21 --> 00:27:23 we talk about this all the time.
00:27:23 --> 00:27:30 Determined to find answers, she reached out to a hospital executive whose office she had cleaned.
00:27:31 --> 00:27:36 That decision proved pivotal. Her mother was connected with a new care team
00:27:36 --> 00:27:43 and diagnosed with vocal cord dysfunction, a condition that had previously gone undetected.
00:27:43 --> 00:27:48 The experience left a lasting impression. If I could be a voice for my mom,
00:27:48 --> 00:27:52 Taylor recalled, thinking maybe I could do this for other patients.
00:27:53 --> 00:27:57 From there, she began charting a new course. While continuing to work nights
00:27:57 --> 00:28:01 at the hospital, Taylor enrolled in classes at Southern Connecticut State University
00:28:01 --> 00:28:07 and later earned a master's degree at Quinnipiac University.
00:28:08 --> 00:28:13 She eventually gained admission to Howard University College of Medicine.
00:28:14 --> 00:28:19 Now, after years of balancing work, school, and financial hurdles,
00:28:19 --> 00:28:26 she is returning to Yale New Haven Hospital, this time as a physician in training.
00:28:26 --> 00:28:32 She said, as she prepares to step into her new role, Taylor hopes her story
00:28:32 --> 00:28:36 encourages others who may feel uncertain about their future.
00:28:37 --> 00:28:43 I want them to keep going, she said. I want them to not take a no as the final answer.
00:28:44 --> 00:28:48 And there you go. Can you imagine that? 18 years old. Yeah.
00:28:49 --> 00:28:55 Cleaning rooms. And now you're going to be on the staff as a physician of the
00:28:55 --> 00:28:58 same hospital you were cleaning your rooms in. Yeah, that's crazy.
00:28:58 --> 00:29:01 And she's only 32, so she did that kind of thing. 32 years old,
00:29:01 --> 00:29:03 yeah. She did that kind of thing. Yeah, she's 32 years old.
00:29:04 --> 00:29:07 Yeah, you know, so what's your guys' thoughts about this story?
00:29:08 --> 00:29:15 Yeah, I mean, I feel like it's just one of those full circle moments, you know.
00:29:15 --> 00:29:19 So, I mean, there's nothing bad we can say about it, but hopefully she's able
00:29:19 --> 00:29:22 to kind of help a lot of people and connect the dots for people.
00:29:23 --> 00:29:27 Yeah. Same here. Full circle moment. I mean, kudos to her.
00:29:28 --> 00:29:32 Getting into Yale is not easy. It really isn't.
00:29:32 --> 00:29:39 And for a 32-year-old black woman to follow her dreams, to get into that school,
00:29:39 --> 00:29:46 to that hospital, as a, what, she's going to be an anesthesiologist? Yes.
00:29:47 --> 00:29:51 Yeah. Yeah. Kudos to her. Kudos to her.
00:29:51 --> 00:29:56 Yeah. When you look at Leonard and I, over the last five years,
00:29:56 --> 00:30:00 have done a good five, six stories about.
00:30:00 --> 00:30:05 The way that, especially when it comes to black women, have been treated as
00:30:05 --> 00:30:10 far as the medical field is concerned and not getting the best health care.
00:30:10 --> 00:30:13 And this was a classic example about what happened with her mother.
00:30:14 --> 00:30:19 If it hadn't been the fact that that happened to her mother,
00:30:20 --> 00:30:23 she may not have been on this journey.
00:30:23 --> 00:30:26 But, you know. She's probably been overlooked. She's probably just been overlooked.
00:30:27 --> 00:30:31 Yeah. And we find it and we find this out a lot about schooling.
00:30:31 --> 00:30:34 I mean, Leonard, you're about to go through this now with your daughter,
00:30:34 --> 00:30:39 you know, as far as the whole thing, as far as schooling, getting the monies together.
00:30:39 --> 00:30:44 I mean, you know, we got a full scholarship that's paying for everything. You got to go.
00:30:44 --> 00:30:50 You got to come up with a lot of different resources to put your kid in school these days, you know.
00:30:50 --> 00:30:54 And of course, you know, you're trying to get as much free money as you can get.
00:30:54 --> 00:30:58 So you know i had to worry about them paying back money
00:30:58 --> 00:31:01 later on you know so you know
00:31:01 --> 00:31:04 and these schools ain't cheap you know so you've
00:31:04 --> 00:31:07 got to and if you're uninformed on how to do
00:31:07 --> 00:31:10 these things because i know and this you know
00:31:10 --> 00:31:14 the you know you figure this had to have this happened in the last 10 years
00:31:14 --> 00:31:18 or so for her i know when i was in school man they were talking about financial
00:31:18 --> 00:31:23 aid say things are different now like everything you did your parents was responsible
00:31:23 --> 00:31:27 for And my mom was like, no, I can't do it.
00:31:27 --> 00:31:30 You know, you go to school, you're going to have to get to school on your own.
00:31:30 --> 00:31:36 Right. You know, so and these days, you know, now the kids can sign their own,
00:31:36 --> 00:31:40 you know, their own letters and loans and all of that kind of stuff nowadays.
00:31:40 --> 00:31:48 So it's a big difference. So, but kudos to this young lady for having the presence
00:31:48 --> 00:31:50 of mind to be able to do what she did.
00:31:50 --> 00:31:56 And now she's coming back in full, like, like she said, full circle and being
00:31:56 --> 00:32:00 able to work in the hospital that she once worked in as a, you know,
00:32:00 --> 00:32:05 subordinate, you know, and now she's going to be a.
00:32:05 --> 00:32:08 One of the top dogs there. So, you know, that's good.
00:32:09 --> 00:32:13 Yeah, cool. I mean, that's real right there. It really is.
00:32:14 --> 00:32:18 That's real. That's definitely a good feel-good story. We don't get a chance.
00:32:18 --> 00:32:21 Look, Leonard and I don't get a chance to do that too often.
00:32:25 --> 00:32:29 Ain't too much feel-good in the world right now. You can go like that.
00:32:29 --> 00:32:33 Not anymore. That is a feel-good. Not anymore. So, all right,
00:32:33 --> 00:32:35 let's move on to your story.
00:32:35 --> 00:32:40 Yep. So the next story, and I saw this today and it just kind of made me stop and read it.
00:32:40 --> 00:32:45 So it says, it was an article that says, Bill Cosby ordered to pay $19 million
00:32:45 --> 00:32:48 in a sexual lawsuit case.
00:32:48 --> 00:32:54 And I was just like, damn, okay, they are still going after Bill Cosby?
00:32:54 --> 00:32:58 So Tim and Dave, what I thought was unique about this story.
00:32:59 --> 00:33:05 So the lady who was accusing Bill Cosby of drugging her, it wasn't from 10 years ago.
00:33:05 --> 00:33:10 It wasn't from 20 years ago. It wasn't from 30 years ago.
00:33:10 --> 00:33:13 It wasn't from 40 years ago.
00:33:13 --> 00:33:16 It wasn't from 50 years ago.
00:33:17 --> 00:33:23 She said that he drugged her almost 55 years ago.
00:33:23 --> 00:33:26 And, you know, of course, you know, everyone has the right to,
00:33:26 --> 00:33:31 you know, lay their claim on what happened to him in the past,
00:33:31 --> 00:33:32 you know, no matter what.
00:33:33 --> 00:33:38 But, you know, at the same time, 55 years ago, an accuser bringing this to court,
00:33:39 --> 00:33:43 Dave or Tim, I'll let one of you guess how old the lady is.
00:33:44 --> 00:33:48 80-something? Okay, so 55. Bill's what, 83, 84?
00:33:49 --> 00:33:53 So I'm going to say she's got to be in her middle 70s somewhere.
00:33:54 --> 00:33:58 This lady is 80 years old. That's what I'm saying. Oh, man, stop.
00:33:59 --> 00:34:03 Go ahead. Come on, let her go do it. Stop it. But long story short,
00:34:03 --> 00:34:05 so this lady is 80 years old.
00:34:06 --> 00:34:11 The assault she claims happened 55 years ago, and she brought it to court,
00:34:11 --> 00:34:19 and she won. and she won $17.5 million for past pain and suffering.
00:34:20 --> 00:34:27 And she won an additional $1.75 million for future suffering. So she got $18 million.
00:34:28 --> 00:34:33 So she got $18 million. Well, it says $20 million, but I mean,
00:34:33 --> 00:34:36 it breaks down to $19 something.
00:34:37 --> 00:34:40 Yeah, it breaks down to $19. No, it breaks down to $18 or something.
00:34:42 --> 00:34:48 So long story short, she says she met him. I think she says she was working at a restaurant.
00:34:49 --> 00:34:53 Yep, she was working at a restaurant. Cosby invited her to his place.
00:34:54 --> 00:34:57 She felt like she was drugged. She remembers just waking up,
00:34:57 --> 00:34:59 feeling disoriented, out of consciousness.
00:35:00 --> 00:35:07 But, you know, I guess my thing with this is, you know, after a while,
00:35:07 --> 00:35:09 it seems like things go so long.
00:35:09 --> 00:35:12 It's like, you know, how do you even prove it? So I'm curious what type of evidence
00:35:12 --> 00:35:17 or information that she brought where the judge was able to find cause to be
00:35:17 --> 00:35:20 guilty and give her that type of settlement.
00:35:21 --> 00:35:25 Dave, what are your thoughts? I'm sitting here thinking as you're talking,
00:35:25 --> 00:35:30 I'm thinking to myself because of all these other convictions that happened.
00:35:31 --> 00:35:35 Hopefully nobody come for you 55 years ago in the past. Well,
00:35:35 --> 00:35:37 they could come for me 55 years ago in the future.
00:35:39 --> 00:35:44 If they come to me five years in the future I'll be fine with that you know
00:35:44 --> 00:35:49 because I probably won't be here at that time but the,
00:35:50 --> 00:35:55 no I just think it's a lot of I think because of what's happened and obviously
00:35:55 --> 00:35:59 let me take a guess he's got to be a white woman right,
00:36:00 --> 00:36:04 probably they didn't show her a picture but more likely because that's normally
00:36:04 --> 00:36:12 I mean the people who as he's been guilty of and accused of they all been white
00:36:12 --> 00:36:15 you know so I think there was one black woman but,
00:36:16 --> 00:36:21 But even still, you know, I just think because of the pattern and everything
00:36:21 --> 00:36:25 that's happened in the past, maybe these and he's a celebrity,
00:36:25 --> 00:36:30 you know, and because he's a celebrity, I think he might have,
00:36:31 --> 00:36:34 you know, he's going to fall on his sword every time it happens. Right.
00:36:35 --> 00:36:39 Yeah. So, yeah, definitely. Definitely. Let me ask this for you and Tim.
00:36:39 --> 00:36:41 Do you feel like he's an easy target now?
00:36:42 --> 00:36:47 I mean, because it seems like everyone who's come back to him for money is dying the money. Yeah. Yeah.
00:36:48 --> 00:36:51 I might talk to a lawyer and say, hey, my grandmother.
00:36:54 --> 00:36:57 Right. But I would have to pay somebody to play a white. I would have to get
00:36:57 --> 00:36:59 a white grandmother, though.
00:37:00 --> 00:37:04 Got to make it more believable. But I guess we shouldn't be laughing about this.
00:37:04 --> 00:37:08 But anyway, so but I'm just saying, you know, that's crazy that they.
00:37:09 --> 00:37:13 Well, first of all, I think the judges and everybody are probably trying to
00:37:13 --> 00:37:16 make a point with him, too. and he is a black man.
00:37:16 --> 00:37:18 Now, I don't know if that would have happened if he was white,
00:37:18 --> 00:37:22 but he is a black man and he messed with white women.
00:37:22 --> 00:37:25 Right. And they don't forget.
00:37:25 --> 00:37:29 That's all I'm going to say. They don't forget. Yeah. Yeah.
00:37:31 --> 00:37:39 My take, I'm sorry, my whole take on this whole thing is this. Bill's 88 years old.
00:37:40 --> 00:37:47 Bill and Benfield enough, why drag this man even further in the mud with something like this?
00:37:48 --> 00:37:53 And it seems like it's just the day after the money war. I mean, really, come on.
00:37:54 --> 00:37:57 What happened to the statute of limitations? I mean, this happened in 1972.
00:37:58 --> 00:38:06 You know, come on. I mean, really? Come on, guys. I mean, I just feel as though,
00:38:06 --> 00:38:12 classy money-grabbing situation because he's Bill Cosby.
00:38:13 --> 00:38:19 That's it. Because he's Bill Cosby and he's a target and, you know,
00:38:19 --> 00:38:23 he's been down this road before and everybody felt like he shouldn't have got
00:38:23 --> 00:38:26 released and all that. Come on. Let it go. Just let it go.
00:38:28 --> 00:38:32 That's my personal family. And it must have been her family probably.
00:38:32 --> 00:38:39 Put her up to it because after all, I mean, I don't know if she's going to get all of that money.
00:38:40 --> 00:38:44 And if she does, is she going to be around long enough to spend it herself?
00:38:45 --> 00:38:51 So, I mean, you know, so I'm sure the family has been in our ears all about
00:38:51 --> 00:38:53 that. So it's really a shame.
00:38:53 --> 00:38:57 The statute of limitations apparently does not apply. I know when all of this
00:38:57 --> 00:39:03 stuff started with him, and there was some type of special provision that was
00:39:03 --> 00:39:08 made that overruled the statute of limitations that started all of this.
00:39:09 --> 00:39:14 So, and that happened with him, and it also happened, it was somebody else that
00:39:14 --> 00:39:16 happened with, too, that they
00:39:16 --> 00:39:22 opened it up for those people to be able to accuse people from years ago.
00:39:23 --> 00:39:27 Because you know normally it would be a five year period but of course this
00:39:27 --> 00:39:33 is 55 years there ain't no five year period so you know and to give them that much money I mean.
00:39:34 --> 00:39:38 I just feel like they must have they must have some hell of a evidence,
00:39:38 --> 00:39:39 you know, or whatever. Yeah.
00:39:40 --> 00:39:45 I mean, and we can't even I don't know if it was video. Maybe they had video. Who knows?
00:39:46 --> 00:39:50 In 72? Yeah. But I know. I know. Right.
00:39:50 --> 00:39:54 I know. The other thing I was going to say, why? Video cameras back then, too.
00:39:54 --> 00:39:59 Yeah. But, you know, so Bill Cosby, they said 2018 was when he really went to
00:39:59 --> 00:40:02 trial and got in all the trouble. why she ain't come out then?
00:40:02 --> 00:40:04 It's like, why, you know, why is she waiting?
00:40:05 --> 00:40:08 They were waiting to see what was going to happen. That's the part right there.
00:40:08 --> 00:40:09 Why is she, why is she wait so long?
00:40:09 --> 00:40:12 They were waiting to see what was going to happen with these other people and
00:40:12 --> 00:40:15 seeing money came out. This is all about the money, man.
00:40:15 --> 00:40:19 They had to make sure that they were going to have an opportunity to get the
00:40:19 --> 00:40:23 money, you know, and they waited for him to get out of jail, you know.
00:40:23 --> 00:40:27 Okay. And now, and they don't know how long this, and we don't know when this
00:40:27 --> 00:40:33 case really started because it doesn't, According to what I was reading online
00:40:33 --> 00:40:36 real fast, it said it started like two weeks ago.
00:40:36 --> 00:40:38 So it was a quick trial. It was a two-week trial.
00:40:39 --> 00:40:42 They awarded $19 million in two weeks.
00:40:43 --> 00:40:48 According to what I read here, it was saying that the decision came nearly five
00:40:48 --> 00:40:50 years after Cosby freed up the prison.
00:40:51 --> 00:40:58 Moving on, it said this happened to her 50 years ago, shuffling through.
00:40:59 --> 00:41:04 After a nearly two-week trial, a Santa Monica jury found Cosby,
00:41:04 --> 00:41:10 88, liable for sexual battery and assault on Donna, Donna, the lady's last name.
00:41:10 --> 00:41:13 They awarded her 17.5 million
00:41:13 --> 00:41:17 in past damages 1.75 in
00:41:17 --> 00:41:20 future damages as as leonard stated earlier and
00:41:20 --> 00:41:26 they gave her then the second phase of trial monday they award an additional
00:41:26 --> 00:41:32 40 million dollars in punitive damages are you serious 40 million yes yeah but
00:41:32 --> 00:41:38 she got a grand total she got a grand total of nearly $60 million.
00:41:38 --> 00:41:41 Yeah. Something that happened in 1972.
00:41:42 --> 00:41:46 But I think this is not just a two-week period.
00:41:46 --> 00:41:51 I think the trial took two weeks, but what led up to the case and everything,
00:41:51 --> 00:41:55 building the case and everything, I'm sure, didn't happen in two weeks.
00:41:55 --> 00:41:57 That had to take a couple years, I'm sure.
00:41:58 --> 00:42:03 Of course you know Bill Cosby's attorney, of course they're going to appeal
00:42:03 --> 00:42:08 to the first national thing again. I guess they couldn't get Benjamin Crump, huh? Mm-hmm.
00:42:09 --> 00:42:13 No. No. Crump said, I ain't thinking that case. I know, you know.
00:42:14 --> 00:42:21 So, wow. That's a shame. It is. It's a shame. It really is. All I can say is, hey, hey, hey.
00:42:22 --> 00:42:28 You got money, man. You know?
00:42:30 --> 00:42:32 Anyway. But you know what? I know before we move on to the next story,
00:42:32 --> 00:42:34 I just want to, you know, say this much.
00:42:35 --> 00:42:39 Man, kudos to Camille Cosby, man. That woman is...
00:42:40 --> 00:42:44 She's stuck by this dude, man, because any other person would be like, man, I'm out. I'm done.
00:42:45 --> 00:42:49 She almost left at one point, though. She was almost out of there.
00:42:50 --> 00:42:57 And, but, I mean, you know, I'm sure, you know, Bill and Camille kind of remind
00:42:57 --> 00:42:59 me of Will and Jada. You know what I mean?
00:42:59 --> 00:43:04 No, don't compare them. Yeah, but I'm just saying, they just seem to have that,
00:43:04 --> 00:43:11 you know, they had that camera family look. But I'm sure behind the camera,
00:43:11 --> 00:43:13 there's a lot going on in that asshole.
00:43:14 --> 00:43:19 You know, Camille probably said, you know, I'm making you look good.
00:43:19 --> 00:43:22 And, you know, I'm hanging in here just so we can, you know,
00:43:22 --> 00:43:25 because I'm sure Camille ain't had no shape for all of this.
00:43:25 --> 00:43:29 Man, knowing the cosmic compound, Camille was probably on one side of the house
00:43:29 --> 00:43:31 and Camille's on the other.
00:43:31 --> 00:43:33 Yeah, that's right. That's right. That's what I'm saying.
00:43:34 --> 00:43:38 But anyway, all right, let's move on to the next story.
00:43:39 --> 00:43:43 And actually, this is not the first time we've kind of talked about this, but,
00:43:44 --> 00:43:51 I don't know, and I guess I keep coming across the story because people need
00:43:51 --> 00:43:55 to wake up and pay attention to what's really going on with this stuff.
00:43:55 --> 00:44:00 And I think it's being done purposely because they know we're consumers.
00:44:01 --> 00:44:07 And, you know, we got to pay attention to who the companies are that are manufacturing
00:44:07 --> 00:44:10 this stuff and selling it to us.
00:44:10 --> 00:44:16 So what am I talking about? So it says harmful chemicals lurk in extensions
00:44:16 --> 00:44:20 and braiding hair marketed to black women, study finds.
00:44:21 --> 00:44:26 Now, Leonard and I have done quite a few stories on this as well about the chemicals
00:44:26 --> 00:44:33 and stuff like permanence and a couple other things that have been out there.
00:44:33 --> 00:44:41 But it says the same chemicals found in pipes, pesticides, and floor tiles are
00:44:41 --> 00:44:43 also present in some wigs,
00:44:44 --> 00:44:49 braiding hair, and hair extensions, a new study published on Wednesday.
00:44:50 --> 00:45:01 It says the journal Environment and Health Founds subscribe to read this story.
00:45:01 --> 00:45:03 I'm reading something else. I'm sorry.
00:45:04 --> 00:45:07 It says researchers at the Silent Springs Institute,
00:45:07 --> 00:45:13 a scientific research nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts,
00:45:13 --> 00:45:20 tested 43 hair extension products purchased online and from local beauty supply
00:45:20 --> 00:45:24 stores and identified, get this,
00:45:25 --> 00:45:33 169 chemicals, three are present overall, including dozens of harmful substances
00:45:33 --> 00:45:36 such as flame retardants,
00:45:37 --> 00:45:41 pesticides, and compounds used to stabilize plastics.
00:45:41 --> 00:45:52 A dozen of these compounds found are listed under California's Proposition 65,
00:45:52 --> 00:45:58 known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986,
00:45:58 --> 00:46:03 which warrants resonance of chemicals known to cause birth defects,
00:46:04 --> 00:46:07 cancer, and reproductive issues.
00:46:07 --> 00:46:13 Additionally, 17 compounds that have been linked to breast cancer were found
00:46:13 --> 00:46:17 in 36 samples tested, the researchers said.
00:46:18 --> 00:46:21 In recent years, researchers across the county.
00:46:23 --> 00:46:30 Been sounding the alarm over harmful hair products, many of which are used and
00:46:30 --> 00:46:35 marketed to black women, consumer reports revealed last year.
00:46:36 --> 00:46:42 That carcinogens were found in samples of 10 popular synthetic braiding hair brands.
00:46:43 --> 00:46:52 Nine of the 10 samples are tested positive for lead. chemical hair relaxers also pose risk.
00:46:52 --> 00:46:55 The Black Women's Health Study in 2023 found
00:46:55 --> 00:46:59 that 50% increased risk
00:46:59 --> 00:47:03 of uterine cancer in post-menopausal
00:47:03 --> 00:47:09 Black women who use chemicals in their hair relaxers from their hair relaxers
00:47:09 --> 00:47:15 more than twice a year or use the products more than five years compared to
00:47:15 --> 00:47:20 a cohort cohort who rarely or never uses relaxes.
00:47:20 --> 00:47:24 And a 2022 study
00:47:24 --> 00:47:28 from the National Institute of Environmental Health and Sciences found that
00:47:28 --> 00:47:35 women who use hair straighteners more than four times per year had more than
00:47:35 --> 00:47:42 a double chance of developing uterine cancer than those who didn't use the products.
00:47:42 --> 00:47:49 Uterine cancer accounted for about 3% of new cancer cases in the U.S. in 2025.
00:47:50 --> 00:47:55 Parse chemicals found in synthetic braiding hair and other hair extensions can
00:47:55 --> 00:48:02 be absorbed through the scalp, causing irritation, burning, and redness, according to Dr.
00:48:03 --> 00:48:07 Chris Purnell, director of the NAACP Center for Health Equity.
00:48:08 --> 00:48:13 They can also be inhaled, particularly when heated during styling,
00:48:14 --> 00:48:16 and absorbed through a person's hands.
00:48:17 --> 00:48:22 Pernell was not involved with the new research saying in the email that braiders
00:48:22 --> 00:48:27 or stylists may be most at risk for dormal absorption through their hands and
00:48:27 --> 00:48:31 fingers due to ongoing handling of products,
00:48:31 --> 00:48:36 which they may transfer to their mouths and faces when eating.
00:48:36 --> 00:48:41 She said the long-term impact of being exposed to chemicals through hair extensions
00:48:41 --> 00:48:43 require additional research.
00:48:44 --> 00:48:50 I'm going to stop there. That's a lot. Yeah. Yeah, that is definitely a lot.
00:48:51 --> 00:48:53 Of course, there's more to the study, ladies and gentlemen.
00:48:54 --> 00:48:57 As Dave was talking about, I actually pulled it up myself, and I was sitting
00:48:57 --> 00:48:58 there reading along with Dave.
00:48:59 --> 00:49:04 And some of the things he didn't even touch base on, ladies and gentlemen. I know. I know.
00:49:04 --> 00:49:08 I was sitting there reading this like, holy cow. You saw some of that stuff
00:49:08 --> 00:49:09 I didn't talk about, right?
00:49:10 --> 00:49:14 Yeah. Yeah, and I'm like, you know, like one of them I noticed it was saying
00:49:14 --> 00:49:17 it was a risk of breast cancer, right?
00:49:18 --> 00:49:23 One of them used as plasticizers found in about half of all the products known
00:49:23 --> 00:49:28 for hormone disruptors, some link to breast cancer risk.
00:49:29 --> 00:49:36 Yeah. Yeah, that's crazy. You know, my wife, whom I love more than anything,
00:49:36 --> 00:49:41 every time she goes to get her hair done,
00:49:41 --> 00:49:45 I cringe when she comes back home with brazen her hair.
00:49:45 --> 00:49:48 She knows I can't stand it.
00:49:48 --> 00:49:53 I told her, you know, my wife has beautiful hair. She can style any way she
00:49:53 --> 00:49:56 wants to and everything like that. She doesn't put anything in it, which is a good thing.
00:49:57 --> 00:50:01 But, you know, I know women, you know, especially now, it's great to get hot.
00:50:01 --> 00:50:05 Most women, as soon as it gets hot, what's the first thing you want to do? Extensions in the hair.
00:50:05 --> 00:50:08 You know, they ain't got to deal with it. Just put the extensions in the hair,
00:50:08 --> 00:50:10 tie it up, go on out. Do what they got to do.
00:50:11 --> 00:50:16 But I always thought about that, you know, because I always said to myself,
00:50:16 --> 00:50:18 where are they getting this hair from?
00:50:19 --> 00:50:22 You know, like, you know, where are they getting this hair from?
00:50:22 --> 00:50:28 Now, wasn't there something a couple of years ago, somebody did a special on, like, hair?
00:50:28 --> 00:50:32 Yeah. Remember Chris Rock? Remember Chris Rock? Chris Rock, yeah, yeah. Yeah, good hair.
00:50:33 --> 00:50:37 Yeah, I remember Chris Rock did that thing about the hair thing with the hair extensions.
00:50:37 --> 00:50:41 And, you know, I was like, so, because he asked that question,
00:50:41 --> 00:50:45 too. Like, where y'all getting all this hair from? Yeah.
00:50:45 --> 00:50:51 You know, and so now you see they got, you know, this particular company.
00:50:51 --> 00:50:53 The Silent Spring Institute,
00:50:54 --> 00:51:00 did this study. Now, we know most black women are not going to pay no attention.
00:51:01 --> 00:51:02 They're going to do what they do.
00:51:03 --> 00:51:07 We know that. We all know that, ladies and gentlemen. We know it.
00:51:08 --> 00:51:10 That's the elephant in the room. We can sit here and tell you this,
00:51:10 --> 00:51:11 but you're going to be like, hey, guess what?
00:51:11 --> 00:51:17 I'm going to go get this hair. So, but I did see something on here that did
00:51:17 --> 00:51:20 catch my eye as Dave was reading it.
00:51:21 --> 00:51:28 The recommendations for reduced risk. It says avoid hair with strong chemical smell.
00:51:28 --> 00:51:33 Okay. It says wash synthetic hair extensions before installation.
00:51:35 --> 00:51:42 Residu. Yeah. It says ensure proper ventilation in the salon when heat is being used.
00:51:43 --> 00:51:47 Limit the length of time extensions are worn i'm gonna stop right there,
00:51:48 --> 00:51:52 right there right there you know
00:51:52 --> 00:51:54 we can get beat up right you already know that right oh yeah
00:51:54 --> 00:51:58 i know ladies and ladies that listen to the show please don't be mad at me please
00:51:58 --> 00:52:02 don't get on my face we don't read about this hair please but i'm just saying
00:52:02 --> 00:52:08 i've seen women with extensions in their hair to the point where you can start
00:52:08 --> 00:52:12 seeing them coming out you know i mean and i know i ladies I get it.
00:52:13 --> 00:52:15 I get it, ladies. I get it. It costs a lot to do them extensions.
00:52:16 --> 00:52:18 It costs you hundreds of dollars if those things put in your head.
00:52:18 --> 00:52:20 I get it. I get it.
00:52:21 --> 00:52:24 But you might want to take the time out and take a look at this.
00:52:24 --> 00:52:27 You know, just be safe. Just be safe. That's all.
00:52:28 --> 00:52:32 Yeah. Leonard, what's your thoughts? I mean, your wife, is she big on this stuff?
00:52:33 --> 00:52:36 I'm sure. Because, you know, she used to own the hair salon.
00:52:37 --> 00:52:41 So, I mean, kind of like Tim said, you know, I think it's one of them things.
00:52:41 --> 00:52:44 I think it's just like, you know, when we hear, hey, you shouldn't eat this
00:52:44 --> 00:52:47 food because it's not good for you. And we're like, man, but it tastes good.
00:52:47 --> 00:52:52 You know, like we just I don't know. We just going to do it anyway. And I think.
00:52:53 --> 00:52:57 You know, a lot of black women are, I mean, I'm sure some are,
00:52:57 --> 00:53:02 but I think a lot of them who wear these products are just not concerned,
00:53:02 --> 00:53:06 which I can understand because, you know, like I was reading something the other
00:53:06 --> 00:53:08 day and Tim, do you drink?
00:53:09 --> 00:53:13 Wine. I'm cutting down my phone. Dave, stop laughing.
00:53:14 --> 00:53:19 Dave, the only reason I say it is because I was reading something about alcohol
00:53:19 --> 00:53:21 and they were like, alcohol is one of the worst things you can put in.
00:53:22 --> 00:53:24 There's nothing good about alcohol.
00:53:26 --> 00:53:32 Tim, I already know you know, being at the parties, people have everyone having
00:53:32 --> 00:53:34 a drink. It's just kind of what we eat.
00:53:35 --> 00:53:39 Not Dave. Not Dave, though. Well, hold on, Tim.
00:53:39 --> 00:53:42 Have we ever seen what he actually poured in his cup? I mean,
00:53:42 --> 00:53:44 he say he don't, but we don't know for sure.
00:53:45 --> 00:53:50 Yeah, you know, it might look like ginger ale, but it's something else. Yeah.
00:53:51 --> 00:53:56 No, no, no, no. It's been 36, 37 years since I had a drink.
00:53:57 --> 00:53:59 All right, what did you say, 55 years? Yeah.
00:54:01 --> 00:54:06 Maybe I could see somebody right now. You know, I'll see. Maybe I can see Bill
00:54:06 --> 00:54:09 Cosby for not giving me a drink when I asked him for one years ago.
00:54:09 --> 00:54:16 Well, Dave, I don't know if he wants to invite you to invite yourself into Bill Cosby allegations.
00:54:17 --> 00:54:22 Yeah, I don't want him to buy me a drink. Hey, Tim, Tim, Dave said the last
00:54:22 --> 00:54:25 time he got a drink from Bill Cosby, he woke up feeling a little disoriented.
00:54:27 --> 00:54:30 No, I'm a sue, man. I'm a sue.
00:54:33 --> 00:54:37 Well, hey, Dave, when you get that $20 million, I'm going to be right by yourself.
00:54:37 --> 00:54:39 Yeah, I know you are. I know you are. I know you are.
00:54:40 --> 00:54:44 But, yeah, it's this, you know, this story. I mean, well, of course,
00:54:44 --> 00:54:48 you know, right now, basically, we can say this about a lot of stuff that we're
00:54:48 --> 00:54:52 putting in our bodies these days about, you know, I saw something the other day.
00:54:52 --> 00:54:55 They were talking about all the different foods. Now, you can't,
00:54:55 --> 00:54:58 even with the chocolates now, you know, they were talking about the fake chocolate.
00:54:59 --> 00:55:05 And how a lot of these candies are not being used. They're not using real cocoa.
00:55:05 --> 00:55:10 They're using manufactured cocoa, and how it's causing problems,
00:55:10 --> 00:55:12 too. So basically, we can find this with everything.
00:55:13 --> 00:55:18 But that hair business, we know it's a multi-billion-dollar business, man.
00:55:18 --> 00:55:25 And it may even be over a trillion now. I mean, with all these hair shops that are all over the place.
00:55:25 --> 00:55:32 And when you walk in, man, the wig section and the extensions,
00:55:32 --> 00:55:36 that section is like a whole different department store in itself.
00:55:36 --> 00:55:40 Right. With all the difference there. And they got synthetic.
00:55:40 --> 00:55:44 They got real hair. They got fake hair. They got everything back there.
00:55:45 --> 00:55:52 Yeah, I mean, like there's a hair salon not too far from where I live at.
00:55:53 --> 00:55:59 And you know one day me and my wife went in there and I was like I'm looking around the room,
00:56:00 --> 00:56:07 well I mean they had Indian hair, African hair it was just hair everywhere and
00:56:07 --> 00:56:10 I'm like and the women coming in there I need this I need this,
00:56:10 --> 00:56:13 I need this and they know exactly what they want too don't they,
00:56:14 --> 00:56:21 yeah it's like they know exactly what they want what texture I mean it's just all that stuff man Yeah.
00:56:23 --> 00:56:28 So like you said, boss, I mean, it is a billion-dollar industry. Yes, it is.
00:56:29 --> 00:56:32 Yeah, it is. However, I hate to compare.
00:56:33 --> 00:56:36 Ladies and gentlemen, please, I hate to compare. Oh, here we go.
00:56:36 --> 00:56:39 It's almost like marijuana.
00:56:39 --> 00:56:42 It's a billion-dollar industry now.
00:56:44 --> 00:56:46 Yeah, that's right. You know, it is what it is.
00:56:47 --> 00:56:51 Yeah, yeah. And we all know, we all know that a side effects for weed,
00:56:52 --> 00:56:54 you know, we ain't supposed to smoke it, but we ain't smoke it anyway.
00:57:00 --> 00:57:03 Well, you guys, you know, that's on y'all.
00:57:04 --> 00:57:09 But anyway, you know, but ladies, we're going to say, we're going to say this
00:57:09 --> 00:57:13 and two guys too, because it ain't just ladies doing it. You know,
00:57:13 --> 00:57:15 there's some guys. Amen. Yes, yes, yes.
00:57:15 --> 00:57:22 Okay. So just be careful and try to do the safety things that you need to do
00:57:22 --> 00:57:24 in order to try to protect yourself now.
00:57:25 --> 00:57:30 Because if you're not washing the hair or the salons are not washing it,
00:57:31 --> 00:57:32 make sure that it's good.
00:57:34 --> 00:57:38 And think about the salon owners and the people who's doing this because not
00:57:38 --> 00:57:44 only are the people who's getting these weaves and wigs and all of these things done,
00:57:45 --> 00:57:51 the people who are assisting them or who are braiding or all of that stuff,
00:57:51 --> 00:57:55 the salon owners and everything, they're bringing in these chemicals every day.
00:57:56 --> 00:57:59 And, you know, so they're at health risk too.
00:57:59 --> 00:58:05 I actually have two people that own salons in the past that both passed away
00:58:05 --> 00:58:09 from cancer. And they were relatively young.
00:58:10 --> 00:58:12 I mean, both of them were before 60 years old.
00:58:13 --> 00:58:20 So, so, and of course, everybody was, nobody thought about it being from that
00:58:20 --> 00:58:25 at the time, but now I'm sure they do, you know, so, yeah, so,
00:58:26 --> 00:58:28 all right, well, I guess we'll keep
00:58:28 --> 00:58:31 an eye on that because I'm sure that story's not going to go away, so.
00:58:32 --> 00:58:36 No, it ain't going away. Yeah, no, it ain't going nowhere. It ain't going nowhere.
00:58:37 --> 00:58:41 All right, Leonard, I know. Stop texting me and telling me it's time for Dave's Corner.
00:58:41 --> 00:58:45 Okay, everyone, it's time for Dave's Corner, Leonard's favorite part of the
00:58:45 --> 00:58:48 show. No, Tim's favorite part.
00:58:48 --> 00:58:52 It's my favorite part. I ain't going to lie. Tim's favorite part of the show.
00:58:52 --> 00:58:56 I love Leonard to death like he's a brother, but I'm sorry, Dave's Corner is
00:58:56 --> 00:58:58 like, Dave's Corner gets a thumbs up.
00:58:59 --> 00:59:02 Leonard will never, he won't admit it, folks, but it is, it is.
00:59:03 --> 00:59:07 So I wanted to do something a little different. I'm not going to ask a question
00:59:07 --> 00:59:09 this time, but I wanted to have some fun with this.
00:59:11 --> 00:59:16 We just lost another legend in Mr. Chuck Norris.
00:59:17 --> 00:59:22 And for a lot of us who grew up with Chuck Norris in various stages,
00:59:22 --> 00:59:25 because Chuck Norris has actually had a couple of different careers,
00:59:26 --> 00:59:30 you know, from a martial artist to an actor.
00:59:30 --> 00:59:34 And, you know, he's even done a little bit of bodybuilding in the past.
00:59:34 --> 00:59:35 I mean, he's done a little bit of everything.
00:59:36 --> 00:59:41 You know, he definitely was a man's man. You know what I mean?
00:59:42 --> 00:59:47 And everybody used to always say he was a tough guy, he was rugged,
00:59:47 --> 00:59:51 and nobody messed with Chuck Norris except for Bruce Lee when he kicked his butt.
00:59:52 --> 00:59:54 Yeah, that was just one time. Yeah.
00:59:57 --> 01:00:04 But I don't know if you guys ever heard of this thing called Chuck Norris-isms.
01:00:05 --> 01:00:10 Yeah. Have you guys heard of him? Yeah, I heard of him. Okay, so, have you, Tim?
01:00:11 --> 01:00:16 No, I have not. And me being a Chuck Norris fan, it's ironic I was just watching
01:00:16 --> 01:00:18 Eye for Eye last night. Okay, there we go.
01:00:20 --> 01:00:26 I've never heard of the Chuck Norris Norrisism story. Yeah. I hear these. Okay.
01:00:26 --> 01:00:30 Well, it's always been... Hey, Tim, real quick, since you said you're watching
01:00:30 --> 01:00:31 a Chuck Norris film, have you
01:00:31 --> 01:00:35 ever seen this old movie called Imitation of Love? Oh, Lord, here we go.
01:00:35 --> 01:00:39 Chuck Norris was not... Imitation of what? By the way. Thank you. Thank you.
01:00:39 --> 01:00:43 You never heard of Imitation of Life? Wait, hold on. You're almost 60 years
01:00:43 --> 01:00:46 old. You have never heard of Imitation of Life?
01:00:47 --> 01:00:50 Yeah, yeah, I've heard it. You've never seen it? I've heard of it.
01:00:51 --> 01:00:53 Oh, my God. Okay, take your card, too. Okay.
01:00:54 --> 01:00:56 Oh, Lord, okay. Yeah, all right.
01:00:57 --> 01:01:01 Now I got to ask, is it on Tubi or is it on something like a watch?
01:01:02 --> 01:01:06 It's on Microfish. Oh, Lord.
01:01:08 --> 01:01:10 That was a good one, Leonard. I'll give you that one. I'll give you that one.
01:01:10 --> 01:01:13 Hey, Dave. Okay, Leonard, you got that one. You got that one.
01:01:13 --> 01:01:18 Dave, tell them what year the movie came out so we can all ask.
01:01:18 --> 01:01:20 Well, it's a couple different versions. No, no, no.
01:01:21 --> 01:01:23 The most popular one came out in 1959.
01:01:25 --> 01:01:32 1959? Yeah. That was the same year Bill Cosby was thotting and bopping around. No. Anyway, anyway.
01:01:34 --> 01:01:39 It's the story, Tim. I'm going to ask Ronnie if she's ever seen it,
01:01:39 --> 01:01:41 because it's a good movie.
01:01:41 --> 01:01:46 Everybody needs to see this movie at least. No, they don't. Yes, they do. Yes, they do.
01:01:47 --> 01:01:52 Look, ask your wife if she's ever seen it, too. Imitation of Life. Look it up.
01:01:53 --> 01:01:58 The one you want to watch is the one that has Lana Turner, the actress Lana Turner.
01:01:58 --> 01:02:02 Okay? Now I do know who Lana Turner is. Okay, there you go. Okay.
01:02:03 --> 01:02:10 And if you ever For those who were Falcon Crest Fans, he was on Falcon Crest You know, and so forth,
01:02:11 --> 01:02:17 But check Check it out And talk to me after you see it Okay,
01:02:18 --> 01:02:19 Leonard refuses to watch it,
01:02:20 --> 01:02:23 I do. Why, Leonard? Why?
01:02:23 --> 01:02:28 First of all, I don't have a microfiche film projector. You know, that's one.
01:02:29 --> 01:02:34 Tim, Tim, so he also didn't tell you the film is in black and white, and it has no sound.
01:02:34 --> 01:02:37 Oh, but no, no. They have a colorized... You have to read the captions.
01:02:37 --> 01:02:40 It's a color... It's not true, Tim. It's not true.
01:02:40 --> 01:02:44 The film is in color, and you don't have captions.
01:02:45 --> 01:02:51 He's lying. Oh, man. You like that? Yeah. Don't pay any attention to him. just watch the film.
01:02:51 --> 01:02:56 And I, and let me, and ask, ask Ronnie if she's seen it. I'm sure she has.
01:02:56 --> 01:03:00 And Dave, you said 19. That's a good movie for the two of you to watch together.
01:03:00 --> 01:03:05 Okay. Sounds like a plan. And Dave, you said 19. Stop listening to Leonard. You said 1959?
01:03:06 --> 01:03:10 Yeah. Okay. I'm just doing the math on that one. Okay. Here we go.
01:03:11 --> 01:03:15 All right. It's 67 years ago, man. Okay. 67. Yeah. Yeah. 67 years ago.
01:03:15 --> 01:03:20 Okay. I was born in 60. I know when it came out, so. Okay.
01:03:20 --> 01:03:23 I was six years old the first time I ever saw the movie. Okay.
01:03:24 --> 01:03:28 My mom made me and my sister watch that movie.
01:03:28 --> 01:03:31 So, Nail, you're trying to carry the tradition and make me and Tim watch it.
01:03:32 --> 01:03:38 Look, I did a poll on Facebook, Tim, and he got mad because most people said they had seen the movie.
01:03:39 --> 01:03:43 So then he had to go do a little poll on Instagram, you know,
01:03:43 --> 01:03:46 for the 30 and 40-year-olds that answered the poll.
01:03:47 --> 01:03:53 What's that, the Gen Zs? Yeah, the Gen Zers and Gen Xers and all of them people.
01:03:53 --> 01:04:02 But surprisingly, a lot of them did see it, though, but not as many as the other group that I polled.
01:04:02 --> 01:04:07 So, Tim, can I clarify Dave's statement? Because there's some inaccuracies here.
01:04:08 --> 01:04:14 Okay. Dave did not do a poll.
01:04:15 --> 01:04:19 Dave put a question out there and said, who has seen this movie?
01:04:19 --> 01:04:22 That's a poll. No, no, no, no. A poll is, have you seen this?
01:04:23 --> 01:04:24 Where people go, yes or no?
01:04:25 --> 01:04:32 No, no. That's what they did. Dave, can I finish? Tim, when I went on Instagram, I did a poll.
01:04:32 --> 01:04:36 I said, have you seen this movie? Yes or no? Okay.
01:04:36 --> 01:04:40 So I wasn't mad at Dave, but he didn't do a poll. It's almost like,
01:04:40 --> 01:04:44 Tim, it's almost like if I say, hey, what's your favorite song?
01:04:44 --> 01:04:46 People ain't going to tell you what their not favorite song is.
01:04:47 --> 01:04:49 You know what I mean? I'm going to tell you what my favorite word is right now.
01:04:50 --> 01:04:52 I ain't too short.
01:04:56 --> 01:05:02 So the movie is Imitation of Life, 1959 first, right? Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
01:05:02 --> 01:05:06 Yeah. I'm going to definitely take a tip. With Lana Turner. With Lana Turner, yeah.
01:05:07 --> 01:05:12 Okay, cool. Now, let me get back to Dave's Corner before, you know.
01:05:12 --> 01:05:15 He's trying to distract me, Tim. That's what he's trying to do.
01:05:18 --> 01:05:23 So, anyway, getting back to the Chuck Norris-isms, okay.
01:05:23 --> 01:05:27 So, these are some of my favorite ones.
01:05:27 --> 01:05:31 Okay, number one, Chuck Norris doesn't flush the toilet.
01:05:32 --> 01:05:38 He scares the sugar honey iced tea out of it. That makes sense?
01:05:38 --> 01:05:42 The delivery was off, but yes. Chuck Norris doesn't flush the toilet.
01:05:42 --> 01:05:49 He just stares and scares the stuff out of it because he's so tough. Because he's so tough.
01:05:51 --> 01:05:53 You got to say the curse word. You got to say the curse word.
01:05:53 --> 01:05:57 No, I'm not going to. Anyway. Anyway. All right.
01:06:00 --> 01:06:05 Number two. When Chuck Norris was born, he drove his mom home from the hospital.
01:06:08 --> 01:06:14 So, because, you know, because he's so tough. You keep this in mind. Okay.
01:06:15 --> 01:06:23 All right. when Chuck Norris slices onions, the onions cry. I figured you was going to say that.
01:06:27 --> 01:06:30 Dave, before you finish, can I say my favorite one? And I'm not sure if it's
01:06:30 --> 01:06:35 on your list yet. Wait, let me finish, man. Just calm down, man. Golly.
01:06:37 --> 01:06:41 Give him Dave's corner. He just go crazy. I know. I might say it.
01:06:41 --> 01:06:43 I might say it before you say it. I know.
01:06:44 --> 01:06:46 Okay, you let me know if I say it, okay? Okay, I will.
01:06:47 --> 01:06:50 Chuck Norris, number four. Chuck Norris counted two infinities.
01:06:51 --> 01:06:54 Twice. See, that went over y'all's head right there. No, no,
01:06:54 --> 01:06:56 no, we got it. Yeah, I missed that one, boss.
01:06:57 --> 01:07:04 Infinity. You can't count to infinity. Infinity, you know, you can't learn that in school.
01:07:04 --> 01:07:08 You learn that in school. You can't count to infinity. But he did it twice.
01:07:10 --> 01:07:15 Okay. Okay, number five. When the boogeyman goes to sleep at night,
01:07:16 --> 01:07:18 he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
01:07:19 --> 01:07:21 The memories. Bye.
01:07:23 --> 01:07:30 I love that one. I love that one. Yeah. Number six, Chuck Norris uses rib condoms
01:07:30 --> 01:07:34 inside out so he can get, so he gets pleasure.
01:07:37 --> 01:07:41 I'm going to leave that one alone. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to leave that one alone.
01:07:43 --> 01:07:50 Number seven, time waits for no man unless that man is Chuck Norris. Chuck Norris.
01:07:50 --> 01:07:58 Now that one I heard. I heard that one in the 70th day time waits for no one
01:07:58 --> 01:07:59 unless it's Chuck Norris,
01:08:00 --> 01:08:06 there you go number 8 there is no theory of evolution just a list of animals
01:08:06 --> 01:08:08 Chuck Norris allows to live.
01:08:12 --> 01:08:17 Number 9 Chuck Norris Chuck Norris
01:08:17 --> 01:08:22 doesn't actually write books the words assemble themselves out of fear.
01:08:23 --> 01:08:27 Out of fear. Yeah, I saw that one too. Yeah, I saw that one too.
01:08:28 --> 01:08:33 Number 10. Jeff once had a near Chuck Norris experience.
01:08:37 --> 01:08:40 I got two more. You got two more. Go ahead.
01:08:41 --> 01:08:46 When Chuck Norris was in middle school, his English teacher assigned an essay.
01:08:47 --> 01:08:55 What is courage? he received an A plus for turning in a blank page with only his name at the top of it.
01:09:00 --> 01:09:08 And this is my favorite one. Number 12. When Chuck Norris turned 18, his parents moved out.
01:09:10 --> 01:09:10 Damn.
01:09:13 --> 01:09:18 Now, did I say yours, Leonard? No, you didn't. Okay, what was yours?
01:09:19 --> 01:09:24 So mine is Chuck Norris doesn't do a push-up. He pushes the ground down.
01:09:25 --> 01:09:27 I saw that one, yeah. Yeah, I saw that one too, yeah.
01:09:28 --> 01:09:32 Chuck Norris doesn't do a push-up. He pushes the ground down.
01:09:32 --> 01:09:34 He pushes the ground down.
01:09:35 --> 01:09:38 Tim, there's a million of these things, man. I mean, and they've been going
01:09:38 --> 01:09:43 on for years. This is not something new. They've been talking about Chuck Norris
01:09:43 --> 01:09:46 like this for years, you know, and he laughs about it, too.
01:09:46 --> 01:09:50 When he's been on talk shows, some of the hosts have brought it up,
01:09:50 --> 01:09:53 and he just falls out laughing every time he hears something.
01:09:53 --> 01:09:57 But I just thought I'd bring that up since he just passed away.
01:09:57 --> 01:10:02 But, you know, you don't hear them talk about other people like that,
01:10:02 --> 01:10:05 but they always talked about him like that, you know, so.
01:10:05 --> 01:10:10 Yeah. Yeah, you know, that's, I mean, Chuck Norris was a, he was a good dude.
01:10:11 --> 01:10:15 I mean, of course, some of the earlier 80 movies was, well, here's the thing.
01:10:15 --> 01:10:18 Let me ask you, speaking of the 80 movies, because I watched Eye for an Eye last night.
01:10:19 --> 01:10:25 What's Chuck Norris you like? Non-mustache Chuck Norris or mustache Chuck Norris?
01:10:27 --> 01:10:33 Well i go back to the early i go back to the early days with him so you know the non,
01:10:33 --> 01:10:37 i like the thicker you know the the
01:10:37 --> 01:10:42 muscular one and without the mustache you know because you know like when he
01:10:42 --> 01:10:46 was in what was the game of the what's it no not game of death return of the
01:10:46 --> 01:10:53 dragon with bruce lee with bruce lee yeah you know he was put together back
01:10:53 --> 01:10:55 then and he was way bigger than Bruce.
01:10:56 --> 01:11:00 And he was getting the best of Bruce at first. And then Bruce was...
01:11:00 --> 01:11:01 Until Bruce started dancing.
01:11:03 --> 01:11:07 Once Bruce started dancing, started bopping, it was a wrap. I was like, it's over.
01:11:08 --> 01:11:11 You didn't want to be in the room when Bruce started dancing.
01:11:11 --> 01:11:12 You didn't want to be in the same room.
01:11:13 --> 01:11:16 And ladies and gentlemen, if y'all have never seen that movie,
01:11:16 --> 01:11:21 that fight scene is iconic. Next to Bruce Lee fighting Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
01:11:21 --> 01:11:23 Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
01:11:24 --> 01:11:27 Feist scene was cool because Chuck Norris was getting the best of Bruce Lee. He was.
01:11:27 --> 01:11:32 He was kicking his butt. Until Bruce started, when he started dancing,
01:11:32 --> 01:11:34 Chuck Norris looked down at his feet.
01:11:34 --> 01:11:39 And he tried to match you there and he couldn't do it. And that's what I got. That's right. I got it.
01:11:39 --> 01:11:44 Bruce was the man. He was the man. Yeah. So that was, you know.
01:11:45 --> 01:11:50 There were so many Bruce Lee stories, you know, about him. Nobody wanted to
01:11:50 --> 01:11:54 fight him in fight scenes.
01:11:54 --> 01:12:01 You know, when Green Hornet met Batman and Robin, remember, they had a fight scene.
01:12:02 --> 01:12:05 Robin didn't want to fight Bruce Lee because he was scared of him.
01:12:05 --> 01:12:08 He was scared of him. Yeah, he was scared of him.
01:12:09 --> 01:12:12 I remember reading that autobiography, ladies and gentlemen,
01:12:12 --> 01:12:16 for those, like, Batman was campy, of course, 1966 version.
01:12:16 --> 01:12:20 There was one episode where the Green Hornet and Kato was on there and like
01:12:20 --> 01:12:26 Dave said there was a fight scene big fight scene you know how the band so when
01:12:26 --> 01:12:31 they got rid of the bad guys the only ones that was left was Batman and Robin Green Hornet and Kato.
01:12:33 --> 01:12:34 Kato swoop kicked,
01:12:35 --> 01:12:41 Burt Ward who played Robin and when he swooped kicked him, you know,
01:12:41 --> 01:12:45 you could clearly see he missed him by a hair, by like a hair.
01:12:46 --> 01:12:50 But they said, Burt Ward said he was scared of him. He was scared of him.
01:12:50 --> 01:12:53 He was like, uh-uh. He said he didn't want to do that scene.
01:12:53 --> 01:12:56 They had to make him do that scene. He said, uh-uh. He didn't want to do it. Uh-uh.
01:12:57 --> 01:12:59 Burt was laughing at him like, dude, I'm not going to kick you.
01:12:59 --> 01:13:02 I'm going to, it's going to look like I'm kicking you.
01:13:03 --> 01:13:09 Would you want to have Bruce Lee look like he's kicking you? No, I wouldn't want to.
01:13:12 --> 01:13:18 But anyway, well, I guess that's everything we got for you guys tonight.
01:13:19 --> 01:13:22 Hey, Tim, do you want to let people know what you got coming up in the near
01:13:22 --> 01:13:24 future before we sign off?
01:13:24 --> 01:13:26 Yeah, well, first of all, thanks, guys, for having me on the show.
01:13:27 --> 01:13:32 I'm going to try to do my very best to make it a point to give Leonard a break. Yes, yes.
01:13:33 --> 01:13:38 Dave driving is crazy over here. He takes breaks all the time. I'm going to try it.
01:13:39 --> 01:13:44 But, yeah, I have some major events going on here around the city of Wilmington
01:13:44 --> 01:13:46 in the area for, of course, a couple of weeks.

01:15:19 --> 01:15:22 I'm not sure yet, so please don't quote me on that.
01:15:22 --> 01:15:27 But I did get a chance to hear this band, and oh my God, They sound just like
01:15:27 --> 01:15:29 Earthquake Fire. So we're looking forward to that.
