They discuss a federal lawsuit after months of racist bullying at an elementary school, a community-built home for an 82-year-old woman with cancer, a pastor arrested in an undercover sting, and listener fun from Dave’s Corner about free food for life.

00:01:45 --> 00:01:51 myself i'm sorry i know i'm sure i know but yeah he he kind of hangs out he's
00:01:51 --> 00:01:54 been hanging out for about five years with me yeah,
00:01:55 --> 00:02:03 yeah so but here it is another to this day and i know we've had a lot going
00:02:03 --> 00:02:06 on man over the last couple weeks,
00:02:06 --> 00:02:10 i know yeah things going on down at the campground. It was stuff going on.
00:02:11 --> 00:02:16 There was a lot of, one thing I was glad to see, there was a lot of Juneteenth celebrations.
00:02:17 --> 00:02:21 Yes. And they, there's, there's, there's still some, I'm, I know there's coming
00:02:21 --> 00:02:25 up, there's stuff coming up this weekend too. Yeah, I know there's one in Louis.
00:02:25 --> 00:02:27 They have a Juneteenth celebration.
00:02:27 --> 00:02:32 Yeah. So that's good. I'm glad to hear that they're doing, doing that.
00:02:32 --> 00:02:38 I know they had a big one in Chicago at the new library for,
00:02:38 --> 00:02:40 So Obama, President Obama.
00:02:42 --> 00:02:47 And that place, and they talked about the turn up as, you know,
00:02:47 --> 00:02:50 be going on there, plan on going there for yourself.
00:02:51 --> 00:02:58 Yeah, eventually. I mean, I definitely don't have it in my direct plans,
00:02:58 --> 00:03:02 but I mean, I would love to see it. I'm sure it's amazing. But you do eventually plan on it.
00:03:03 --> 00:03:07 Our buddy Larry Boringhill took some pictures. He was there. Oh, was he?
00:03:07 --> 00:03:11 Yeah, he posted some pictures. Yeah, yeah.
00:03:11 --> 00:03:16 Yeah, so because he was, you know, he spends a lot of time in Chicago, so.
00:03:16 --> 00:03:20 Gotcha. But yeah, yeah, but they had a nice celebration there, too.
00:03:21 --> 00:03:25 But I'm glad to see that we got all this going on. And, you know,
00:03:25 --> 00:03:29 of course, we got the World Cup still going on. I know you've been watching
00:03:29 --> 00:03:31 the games and some great games, really. Yeah, yeah.
00:03:33 --> 00:03:37 One thing that's good is the stars are starring.
00:03:38 --> 00:03:44 Guys that you expected to do so. Messi and Boppel.
00:03:46 --> 00:03:52 Those guys are killing right now. I didn't realize the boy that scored,
00:03:52 --> 00:03:57 the black guy that scored the goal for USA, that last game, Freeman,
00:03:58 --> 00:04:00 is the son of Antonio Freeman.
00:04:00 --> 00:04:02 They used to play for the Green Bay Packers. He's a wide receiver for the Green
00:04:02 --> 00:04:06 Bay Packers, all-star wide receiver. I said, oh, I didn't know that.
00:04:08 --> 00:04:12 So, you know, cool. It's pretty cool.
00:04:13 --> 00:04:17 All the games have been well-intended, they said. and it's been pretty exciting. It really has.
00:04:18 --> 00:04:25 Yeah, so I wonder how well people will take to after everything is over,
00:04:25 --> 00:04:28 whether it will increase the viewership or not.
00:04:29 --> 00:04:33 I'm sure. Because, you know, Dave, before, I wouldn't watch Saqq.
00:04:33 --> 00:04:37 I thought it was a little boring. But, you know, now that I'm watching it,
00:04:37 --> 00:04:38 you can actually cheer on to me.
00:04:38 --> 00:04:41 You know, I have a much more appreciation for it.
00:04:44 --> 00:04:48 So, I mean, yeah, it's been interesting.
00:04:48 --> 00:04:52 It really has, you know, and why can't anybody stop Messi?
00:04:53 --> 00:04:56 It's like the stuff he does is so simple. Well, you know, it's funny.
00:04:56 --> 00:04:58 I've not seen him play. What team does he play for?
00:04:59 --> 00:05:03 Oh, you have not seen Messi play yet? No, no. Oh, my God.
00:05:03 --> 00:05:09 Leonard, this dude, man, anytime he's on the field, you just know he's going to score.
00:05:09 --> 00:05:15 He plays for Argentina. Argentina okay yeah yeah you got next time Argentina
00:05:16 --> 00:05:20 he had two goals last night and he missed he should have had three he missed one yeah.
00:05:23 --> 00:05:31 So he's already scored five goals in two games crazy but if you guys been watching
00:05:31 --> 00:05:36 keep watching I'm sure that you're going to enjoy it so just keep it up,
00:05:36 --> 00:05:41 All right, well, we're going to go ahead and jump into our stories quite quick.
00:05:41 --> 00:05:44 And let me see this first story.
00:05:45 --> 00:05:50 Mother sued school district after sons targeted by racist harassment.
00:05:51 --> 00:05:57 Says the mother of two black elementary students have filed a lawsuit after
00:05:57 --> 00:06:02 her sons were left with PTSD following months of racist bullying.
00:06:02 --> 00:06:08 She said elementary schools should be a place where children learn to read and
00:06:08 --> 00:06:11 write and make friends, not to go and get bullied.
00:06:12 --> 00:06:18 Instead, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court, two black brothers at
00:06:18 --> 00:06:25 the Southern California Elementary School endured months of racial harassment that included slurs,
00:06:26 --> 00:06:32 degrading comments about their skin color, and even a note telling one child
00:06:32 --> 00:06:37 that his skin was as black as your future. Damn.
00:06:38 --> 00:06:44 That's crazy, right? Yeah. Their mother is now accusing the Redlands Unified
00:06:44 --> 00:06:48 School District of ignoring repeated warnings and failing to protect her sons
00:06:48 --> 00:06:50 from a hostile school environment,
00:06:51 --> 00:06:53 and that she had, she says,
00:06:54 --> 00:06:56 left lasting emotional scars.
00:06:58 --> 00:07:06 The feds and civil rights lawsuit alleged that the boys' students at Mariposa,
00:07:07 --> 00:07:10 Elementary School were subjected to,
00:07:11 --> 00:07:14 racist bullying by classmates for months.
00:07:14 --> 00:07:20 The harassment, according to court filings, included repeated use of racial
00:07:20 --> 00:07:23 slurs and written insults passed between students.
00:07:24 --> 00:07:32 One of the boys allegedly received a note that I just read, your skin is as black as your future.
00:07:32 --> 00:07:36 Another insult compared his skin to dog food.
00:07:37 --> 00:07:42 Wow. According to the complaint received by the Redlands Daily Facts,
00:07:43 --> 00:07:46 the boy's mother, Daphne Hawkins, claims
00:07:46 --> 00:07:52 the abuse escalated despite being repeatedly reported to the school.
00:07:53 --> 00:07:59 The lawsuit claims administrators failed to intervene, instead relying on counseling
00:07:59 --> 00:08:07 and informal responses rather than disciplinary measures or other methods to stop their harassment.
00:08:08 --> 00:08:16 A central incident cited in the complaint involved a classroom lesson on Zawarte
00:08:16 --> 00:08:23 Piat, a Dutch holiday figure widely criticized for racist imagery.
00:08:23 --> 00:08:29 And often depicted by white actors in blackface, according to NPR.
00:08:30 --> 00:08:35 The lawsuit alleges one of the boys, the only black kid in the classroom,
00:08:35 --> 00:08:44 was singled out during the class following the lesson the lawsuit claims that the bullying got worse.
00:08:45 --> 00:08:50 According to the complaint, both children have later developed symptoms consistent
00:08:50 --> 00:08:56 with post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, as the harassment continued.
00:08:57 --> 00:09:02 The district declines to comment on the specifics of the allegations due to the ongoing lawsuit.
00:09:03 --> 00:09:07 Uh, I'm gonna stop there. Um,
00:09:08 --> 00:09:11 this stuff, because, you know,
00:09:11 --> 00:09:15 when you have, when you have children in elementary school these days,
00:09:16 --> 00:09:20 and especially if they're going to schools that are predominantly white schools,
00:09:21 --> 00:09:27 which sounds like this one is, you definitely have to be mindful and careful of,
00:09:29 --> 00:09:33 how your children might be perceived in a school like this.
00:09:33 --> 00:09:38 That you and you definitely need to spend time you definitely need to have a
00:09:38 --> 00:09:41 presence in the school to know what's going on in the school,
00:09:42 --> 00:09:47 because you you know if i walk into a school and i go i take my kids there because
00:09:47 --> 00:09:53 i know my my ex-wife man she didn't play that when we took her boys to school.
00:09:55 --> 00:09:58 I had to pull her out of there you know because she wanted to stay the whole
00:09:58 --> 00:10:04 day because She wanted to survey the old landscape, see what's going on,
00:10:04 --> 00:10:09 how the teachers were, to see if any, you know, children were looking at,
00:10:10 --> 00:10:13 you know, our children's side-eye or whatever.
00:10:14 --> 00:10:18 And, you know, and you definitely want to make sure you get involved with the
00:10:18 --> 00:10:23 PTA because if you don't get along with their parents and their parents treat
00:10:23 --> 00:10:26 you a certain kind of way, there's a good chance there's going to be some issues
00:10:26 --> 00:10:29 with the children treating your kids a certain way.
00:10:30 --> 00:10:33 You know, because the parents are probably saying something to the veil,
00:10:33 --> 00:10:38 not saying all of them, but stay away from that boy or don't talk to him.
00:10:39 --> 00:10:42 You know, I mean, what do you think about this whole thing?
00:10:43 --> 00:10:47 Yeah, I mean, I think I agree. I think the other thing, if the parents are acting
00:10:47 --> 00:10:51 like that, then, you know, they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. That's right.
00:10:51 --> 00:10:56 But, you know, I think it's sad because I definitely believe that people can
00:10:56 --> 00:11:02 get PSTD from bullying. I almost feel like that's a no-brainer when I think about it.
00:11:03 --> 00:11:07 And, you know, I just think, like, if there's a battered spouse who has to go
00:11:07 --> 00:11:12 home every day to their abuser, I can see how that's traumatizing.
00:11:13 --> 00:11:18 If there's someone who has ever been victimized violently, I can see how,
00:11:18 --> 00:11:21 like, repeated situations like that can be traumatizing.
00:11:22 --> 00:11:28 So, of course, you know, for a young child to go to school and be bullied,
00:11:28 --> 00:11:33 you know, physically, emotionally, verbally, you know, I mean,
00:11:34 --> 00:11:38 I can definitely see how all any or all of those could leave,
00:11:39 --> 00:11:44 you know, scars that last longer than the than the, you know, direct bullying.
00:11:44 --> 00:11:47 And that's right. And I agree.
00:11:48 --> 00:11:52 And that's why, you know, you got to be real careful with these type of things.
00:11:53 --> 00:11:57 And it's really a shame that this is happening to these two boys.
00:11:57 --> 00:12:03 And if everything is directly, if everything is exactly like she says it is,
00:12:03 --> 00:12:06 then I can understand why the lawsuit was put in.
00:12:06 --> 00:12:15 And now that school district is hopefully going to have to deal with what's about to come.
00:12:18 --> 00:12:21 Maybe they'll get Benjamin Crump up there to help out. Yeah.
00:12:23 --> 00:12:28 It's really a shame because these are young kids. They should never be this way. Should never.
00:12:29 --> 00:12:32 I mean, it's one thing you got to deal with when you grow up,
00:12:32 --> 00:12:36 but when you start at this early age, it's not good. Because this was,
00:12:36 --> 00:12:39 I mean, this is the age of innocence.
00:12:40 --> 00:12:44 This is usually when they're all getting along. You know what I mean?
00:12:44 --> 00:12:49 Well, that's just the way the country is going these days, too. That's another story.
00:12:50 --> 00:12:52 Right, right. Yeah.
00:12:53 --> 00:12:56 But hopefully the mother does
00:12:56 --> 00:13:02 get a chance to get some kind of justice and those boys are vindicated.
00:13:02 --> 00:13:06 And hopefully, now I didn't say that she moved them to a different school or
00:13:06 --> 00:13:10 anything, or if she's moving them to a different school.
00:13:11 --> 00:13:16 But maybe that might be her next thing to do is move to a different school. Yeah.
00:13:19 --> 00:13:23 Or, you know, because, you know, I mean, not everybody has the option to homeschool
00:13:23 --> 00:13:27 their kids, you know. Right. So, yeah. All right.
00:13:28 --> 00:13:32 So, we're going to move on to this next door.
00:13:34 --> 00:13:36 Community donates home to an
00:13:36 --> 00:13:43 82-year-old black woman with cancer who was living in her car. Let's see.
00:13:44 --> 00:13:52 A neighbor first raised concern after spotting her sleeping in—well, let me start over.
00:13:53 --> 00:13:59 Let me start with this part. Christine Marshall, an 82-year-old African-American
00:13:59 --> 00:14:08 woman from Memphis, Tennessee, lived in her car for years after a tree destroyed her home. Community.
00:14:10 --> 00:14:16 Donations and local support later helped her move into a newly built and fully
00:14:16 --> 00:14:19 furnished house in South Memphis.
00:14:20 --> 00:14:25 It said a neighbor first raised concerns after spotting her sleeping in the
00:14:25 --> 00:14:30 heat near a damaged structure in Memphis, Tennessee.
00:14:30 --> 00:14:39 The situation was reported to a local news station, which helped bring attention
00:14:39 --> 00:14:41 to her living arrangements.
00:14:42 --> 00:14:47 As the story spread, help started coming in. Memphis contractor Jason Smith
00:14:47 --> 00:14:51 stepped forward after seeing the report on the news and began coordinating donated
00:14:51 --> 00:14:55 materials and labor to rebuild a home for her.
00:14:56 --> 00:15:03 At the same time, Marshall's son launched a GoFundMe campaign that raised nearly $80.
00:15:04 --> 00:15:12 On Monday, Marshall moved into her new home on South Parkway in South Memphis.
00:15:12 --> 00:15:17 I don't know if I would have gained saying that much about where she lived.
00:15:17 --> 00:15:22 I mean, you know, I would have just said South Memphis, you know.
00:15:23 --> 00:15:29 So the house was built through donations and community effort on the same property,
00:15:29 --> 00:15:35 where she once lived for 30 years after a neighbor's tree destroyed her home.
00:15:36 --> 00:15:42 The next day, she toured the finished home and expressed gratitude while speaking
00:15:42 --> 00:15:46 in a whisper due to throat cancer, she says.
00:15:47 --> 00:15:51 It's what I've always wanted. As she looked around the rooms.
00:15:52 --> 00:15:58 Members of Mount Zion AME Church. Must be a Mount Zion AME Church everywhere.
00:15:58 --> 00:16:00 Amazing. You know, so, yeah.
00:16:01 --> 00:16:05 Also honored Marshall before the home was completed.
00:16:06 --> 00:16:11 The church is located near her former house, and Lita said they did not know
00:16:11 --> 00:16:15 she had been living in her car until the story came out.
00:16:16 --> 00:16:21 Despite her situation, she continued to give during church service.
00:16:21 --> 00:16:26 Marshall later reflected on the support she received and said, I love them.
00:16:27 --> 00:16:30 There are no words to say what I feel.
00:16:30 --> 00:16:32 And that's a good story right there.
00:16:33 --> 00:16:36 84 years old, living in a car for three years.
00:16:38 --> 00:16:44 How can nobody notice that, especially the churches right there by your house?
00:16:45 --> 00:16:49 But, you know, they said the new churches are different. They're not as,
00:16:50 --> 00:16:54 you know, a lot of people now come church, they do what they need to do, and they leave.
00:16:54 --> 00:16:59 I feel like back in the day, there was more fellowship, more follow-up in between,
00:16:59 --> 00:17:08 and more of a family type happening. No, back in the day, Sister Beulah wasn't in church on Sunday.
00:17:09 --> 00:17:11 Oh, yeah, they probably wouldn't give her a call. She was knocking on her door after church.
00:17:16 --> 00:17:23 Let me ask you this, since you're a faithful churchgoer, could you imagine any
00:17:23 --> 00:17:29 of your regulars maybe potentially being homeless, living in their car, and you not knowing?
00:17:29 --> 00:17:35 Or do you feel like somebody at the church would kind of know about the regulars?
00:17:37 --> 00:17:41 That's a good question. It all depends on how private that person is.
00:17:41 --> 00:17:46 I mean, if that person's always been a private person, you probably would never know. You know?
00:17:47 --> 00:17:51 Now, if this person is always somebody who shares everything that goes on in
00:17:51 --> 00:17:56 their life or, you know, that's a talker or whatever the case may be, then,
00:17:57 --> 00:18:00 yeah, you're probably—it'd be hard for you not to know because I'm sure that
00:18:00 --> 00:18:05 person would have told somebody who probably told somebody else who told somebody else, you know?
00:18:05 --> 00:18:12 So I find it amazing that there's an 84-year-old who,
00:18:12 --> 00:18:17 well, first of all, she's still, I guess he's still driving because he lived
00:18:17 --> 00:18:22 in her car for three years, could live in her car and nobody know about it.
00:18:22 --> 00:18:26 Now, in the story, it meant that she has a son. I'm sure the son knew.
00:18:27 --> 00:18:32 And I'm just wondering what the situation was as far as her family was concerned
00:18:32 --> 00:18:37 now and why that happened. Unless she was just, you know, some old people,
00:18:37 --> 00:18:39 they're going to do what they want to do. You can't stop them,
00:18:39 --> 00:18:41 you know? Right. Yeah, yeah.
00:18:42 --> 00:18:44 And Dave, you know, to be honest, and I was talking to someone else,
00:18:44 --> 00:18:48 times these days are just hard. You know, we think about young people who are,
00:18:49 --> 00:18:51 maybe working or not working.
00:18:51 --> 00:18:55 But can you imagine being hard and, you know, maybe nobody will hire you?
00:18:55 --> 00:18:59 Like, I'm sure you kind of get to an age where you're less employable.
00:18:59 --> 00:19:03 You know, maybe your Social Security running out, you know? You know,
00:19:04 --> 00:19:07 it's funny you said what you just said, because I'm going to say this.
00:19:07 --> 00:19:09 It's a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking to myself.
00:19:11 --> 00:19:17 I wonder what would happen if all of a sudden I had to go out and apply for a job again.
00:19:17 --> 00:19:24 Right. Would I get hired based on would they take a shot at me based on what
00:19:24 --> 00:19:30 my skills are or would they not take a shot on me based on my age? Right.
00:19:32 --> 00:19:37 Because as you get older, people look at you differently.
00:19:38 --> 00:19:43 And A lot of times A lot of people don't want Anything to do with you If you're
00:19:43 --> 00:19:48 over a certain age To be honest with you You know It's almost like You stop living,
00:19:50 --> 00:19:54 Now fortunately for her Here she is She's dealing with throat cancer,
00:19:55 --> 00:19:59 Now, they built this home for her.
00:19:59 --> 00:20:05 She's going to live in it. She just moved into it. Now, is she moving into the
00:20:05 --> 00:20:07 house by herself? I wonder.
00:20:08 --> 00:20:09 It's a three-bedroom house.
00:20:11 --> 00:20:16 The son is, you know, I'm sure there's always more to the story.
00:20:16 --> 00:20:18 You know what I mean? It's got to be.
00:20:18 --> 00:20:21 But it's a great story that the community got together because we don't hear
00:20:21 --> 00:20:24 about communities doing stuff like this anymore. Right.
00:20:25 --> 00:20:28 You know, it definitely does not happen because, first of all,
00:20:28 --> 00:20:31 communities aren't connected like they used to be. Yeah, no, they're not.
00:20:32 --> 00:20:36 Yeah. I mean, do you know any of your neighbors' names?
00:20:36 --> 00:20:40 Yes. You know, because I'm, you know, Dave, I'm from the old school,
00:20:40 --> 00:20:42 so, you know, I'll talk to people.
00:20:43 --> 00:20:49 Yeah, so I know my immediate neighbors, the one across the street and the one next to us.
00:20:51 --> 00:20:55 Okay. And I know their names. I have their phone numbers.
00:20:55 --> 00:21:00 Especially for packages and, you know, all that stuff. But besides that,
00:21:00 --> 00:21:03 to be honest, David, like I don't even see a lot of neighbors outside.
00:21:03 --> 00:21:07 I mean, there are a lot of people who walk by, but I don't know exactly where they live.
00:21:08 --> 00:21:15 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I can tell you for sure. I know any of my new names.
00:21:17 --> 00:21:22 I can tell you that for sure. And only maybe one or two of them,
00:21:22 --> 00:21:24 I probably wouldn't know in the supermarket I gave you my wall pass,
00:21:25 --> 00:21:28 you know, and say, oh, okay, I know who that is.
00:21:29 --> 00:21:33 Now, the neighborhood I grew up, that would never happen. So,
00:21:34 --> 00:21:37 but I'm glad she got somewhere to live, man.
00:21:37 --> 00:21:42 That's a great story. So hopefully, you know, and, you know,
00:21:42 --> 00:21:46 we'll keep her in prayer, everyone, for what she's gone through with her cancer.
00:21:47 --> 00:21:49 Okay. All right.
00:21:52 --> 00:21:55 And we haven't talked about a pastor in a long time, have we?
00:21:57 --> 00:22:00 No. We were on a roll for a while there. Remember? We've got a roll talk about
00:22:00 --> 00:22:04 pastors all this time, all of them getting caught up.
00:22:04 --> 00:22:10 Well, this one, this time, this one is, you know, married white pastor caught
00:22:10 --> 00:22:15 in undercover prostitute skin, a sting, and fired from the church.
00:22:16 --> 00:22:20 I guess he was preaching more than the gospel, I guess. Yeah, yeah.
00:22:22 --> 00:22:27 He was trying to deliver some people. Yeah, he was trying to, yeah, or get delivered.
00:22:30 --> 00:22:39 Of course his first name is David by the way of course David Ritchie a 42 year
00:22:39 --> 00:22:44 old pastor from Texas was arrested during an undercover prostitute thing,
00:22:46 --> 00:22:50 and later charged with solicitation he served as the lead pastor of Redeemer
00:22:50 --> 00:22:57 Christian Church a congregation of 1500 members in the city of Amarillo but
00:22:57 --> 00:23:00 was fired after the arrest.
00:23:01 --> 00:23:07 He was widely known in the local region, I'm sorry, the local religious community,
00:23:07 --> 00:23:12 and held additional academic roles in Texas.
00:23:12 --> 00:23:15 Richie had been married for 18 years,
00:23:16 --> 00:23:23 He met his wife, Katie, through eHarmony. You can't write this. No, you can't.
00:23:24 --> 00:23:27 In 2009, they married a year later.
00:23:28 --> 00:23:33 Family posts on social media showed the couple with their three sons over the years.
00:23:33 --> 00:23:39 According to the Daily Mail, authorities said the arrest happened on Sunday
00:23:39 --> 00:23:45 during a Texas Department of Public Safety undercover prostitution sting,
00:23:46 --> 00:23:52 Ritchie was among several men charged with solicitation as part of the operation.
00:23:53 --> 00:23:59 Officials said seven other men were also arrested in the same sting, and the group included,
00:24:00 --> 00:24:06 individuals from Texas and other states, including Florida, Mississippi,
00:24:06 --> 00:24:09 and New Mexico, all facing similar charges.
00:24:10 --> 00:24:14 Redeemer Christian Church has later confirmed that Ritchie was removed from
00:24:14 --> 00:24:20 the position following his arrest. His spokesperson said he was placed on leave
00:24:20 --> 00:24:25 first, then the elders, the elders don't play, by the way, man. They do not play.
00:24:25 --> 00:24:30 The elders voted to terminate his employment after emergency beating.
00:24:31 --> 00:24:36 The church also removed his profile from the official website.
00:24:37 --> 00:24:42 They went in on my man, man. I'll tell you, archives record show Richie held
00:24:42 --> 00:24:48 degrees from Amarillo College, West Texas A&M,
00:24:49 --> 00:24:55 and Reformed Theological Seminary, and worked as a part-time instructor at West
00:24:55 --> 00:24:59 Texas A&M University. Man.
00:25:00 --> 00:25:01 Well, what do you do next?
00:25:03 --> 00:25:07 How do you come back from this? Yeah, I mean, it's funny.
00:25:07 --> 00:25:10 You can get a lawyer. You can get a lawyer to try to clear your name,
00:25:10 --> 00:25:11 but how do you come back from this? Thank you.
00:25:13 --> 00:25:18 I mean, to be honest, I'm not sure. I mean, I feel like there's no real coming
00:25:18 --> 00:25:20 back, even though they seem to come back anyway.
00:25:21 --> 00:25:27 Yeah, they do. They do. They do. Yeah. But that's crazy. That is really, really crazy.
00:25:28 --> 00:25:32 And I wonder what his wife, I wonder what his wife has to say,
00:25:32 --> 00:25:34 whether she's going to stay married to him.
00:25:35 --> 00:25:43 Well, I mean If She's really religious And he's You know, they're probably gonna
00:25:43 --> 00:25:45 go do counseling And do all of that stuff, you know,
00:25:46 --> 00:25:50 And stay together unless a bunch of people get in there. You know,
00:25:50 --> 00:25:54 you got a divorce. If he out here getting, you know, from elsewhere,
00:25:54 --> 00:25:57 so forth and so forth. And that just tells you he has a problem.
00:25:58 --> 00:26:01 Right. It doesn't sound like he does have a problem, you know.
00:26:02 --> 00:26:11 So, so hopefully he gets counseling or, well, before he goes out trying to deliver anybody else.
00:26:11 --> 00:26:14 I'll put it that way. I agree.
00:26:15 --> 00:26:20 You know but i saw that story i said well it's not one of us this time you know.
00:26:24 --> 00:26:30 All right so good luck to you sir i can't call you pastor anymore.
00:26:32 --> 00:26:35 So all right go ahead,
00:26:36 --> 00:26:40 you got the next thing go ahead yeah so dave this is i thought this was so interesting,
00:26:40 --> 00:26:48 but I'm going to call it World Cup fans are losing their minds in America.
00:26:48 --> 00:26:51 And I'm just going to play a clip and probably as soon as you hear,
00:26:51 --> 00:26:54 you'll, hopefully this is the right clip, but as soon as you hear,
00:26:54 --> 00:26:55 you'll know where it's going.
00:26:56 --> 00:27:01 Uh-oh. Having this much of a party, guys. My entire family can drink from here for one month.
00:27:02 --> 00:27:07 Oh, that is so good. My family could drink from here for one month. How good is that?
00:27:08 --> 00:27:15 Europeans amazed, experiencing America for the first time, insane reactions.
00:27:15 --> 00:27:18 Now this is a bunch of different reactions that I haven't seen before,
00:27:18 --> 00:27:21 but I'm very excited for this video. I love watching these. I love it.
00:27:22 --> 00:27:26 It just makes me so happy and I'm just going to keep going and going and going.
00:27:26 --> 00:27:29 Now if you guys have been enjoying these videos, make sure to like and subscribe.
00:27:30 --> 00:27:35 All right, so he's doing too much talking. But they are showing all these videos,
00:27:35 --> 00:27:41 of the World Cup fans coming from other countries experiencing America.
00:27:41 --> 00:27:45 So at the very beginning, this guy walked out of a Whataburger.
00:27:46 --> 00:27:52 And you know when you get a combo meal and maybe you upsize it and your drink
00:27:52 --> 00:27:54 is like darn near 45 ounces?
00:27:55 --> 00:27:59 He was holding it. He said, my family could drink from here for a month.
00:27:59 --> 00:28:04 You know but you know dave other videos have you heard about and i forget what
00:28:04 --> 00:28:06 team it is that is playing in boston,
00:28:07 --> 00:28:13 it's not the irish maybe it's a scott the scots or something they have no the
00:28:13 --> 00:28:20 scots and the germans have been drinking boston out of beer have you heard that.
00:28:21 --> 00:28:27 They have been drinking boston out of beer boston a lot of bars in boston have
00:28:27 --> 00:28:33 run out of beer because of all these world cup fans who are coming partying
00:28:33 --> 00:28:36 drinking there was one thing the guy,
00:28:36 --> 00:28:40 he rented a truck to go get beer delivered from like a nearby city,
00:28:41 --> 00:28:46 i've also seen a lot of videos Dave, when they go to Walmart and Sam's Club,
00:28:47 --> 00:28:51 they're like, my goodness, it has everything, you know.
00:28:52 --> 00:28:56 And, I mean, I was hoping that video would tell more, but it's actually showing a lot more.
00:28:56 --> 00:29:00 But, Dave, if you get a chance, just, you know, put in something like,
00:29:00 --> 00:29:04 you know, World Cup fans are losing their minds. Just send me the link.
00:29:04 --> 00:29:06 Okay, sure, sure, I will do.
00:29:06 --> 00:29:09 But, you know, it's just so funny, like, when they were at Walmart,
00:29:09 --> 00:29:13 you know, they were just, they acted like it was a holy mecca. there.
00:29:14 --> 00:29:20 It shows some of them eating fast food and, you know, all these restaurants we have.
00:29:20 --> 00:29:26 And they have even coined a new saying related to these,
00:29:27 --> 00:29:31 World Cup fans in America. Have you heard of the Freshman 15?
00:29:32 --> 00:29:39 Have you heard of the Freshman 15? So now they have the FIFA 15.
00:29:40 --> 00:29:46 Which is basically saying that all of these people from the other countries
00:29:46 --> 00:29:50 are coming over here and they're gaining weight because they're eating like
00:29:50 --> 00:29:54 Americans, which I think is very interesting.
00:29:55 --> 00:29:59 So, you know, of course, and I really wish I could play this video a little
00:29:59 --> 00:30:03 more, but they just have a lot of things on here that they have.
00:30:03 --> 00:30:07 I'm just going to play it as I'm kind of watching. So, of course,
00:30:08 --> 00:30:10 they had the people drinking them out of beer.
00:30:10 --> 00:30:16 And these people who are coming from the other countries, I mean,
00:30:16 --> 00:30:17 they're really having a great time.
00:30:18 --> 00:30:21 Not only are they watching the game, cheering on their team,
00:30:21 --> 00:30:25 but they are definitely living it up in America.
00:30:26 --> 00:30:32 So I'm very interested to kind of see how, you know, the rest of these will
00:30:32 --> 00:30:37 be going because it's definitely very good and interesting.
00:30:38 --> 00:30:42 Another thing I would like to just mention real quick is, you know,
00:30:42 --> 00:30:45 we've had tons of these soccer games going on.
00:30:46 --> 00:30:50 And I will say, you know, after really just kind of watching these games,
00:30:51 --> 00:30:53 they are really, really very interesting.
00:30:54 --> 00:30:56 And I definitely have to give it to them.
00:30:56 --> 00:31:00 I before did not think I was any type of a soccer fan.
00:31:01 --> 00:31:04 But I can definitely say I am trying to watch these games whenever they are.
00:31:05 --> 00:31:13 By us in Philadelphia. I know on Thursday, they have the Ivory Coast is playing Curacao.
00:31:15 --> 00:31:21 So hopefully I'll be able to go to that game and, you know, kind of experience
00:31:21 --> 00:31:23 this World Cup fever for myself.
00:31:23 --> 00:31:27 But, you know, even on top of that, even for some of the better teams,
00:31:27 --> 00:31:33 There are a lot of black people who are really kind of leading the way,
00:31:34 --> 00:31:39 with, you know, a lot of these teams and just being able to score the first goal for Mexico.
00:31:39 --> 00:31:44 When they played most recently versus South Korea, there was a black,
00:31:45 --> 00:31:50 I think maybe Dominican or black Colombian who scored the first goal.
00:31:50 --> 00:31:54 I know you talked about it, Dave, before the guy from France,
00:31:54 --> 00:32:01 Mbibé or Mbibé or whatever his name is, you know, he's a star player for France.
00:32:01 --> 00:32:08 So, you know, I guess it's only in America that, you know, soccer is more of
00:32:08 --> 00:32:11 a, let's say, a white sport.
00:32:11 --> 00:32:16 But, you know, definitely internationally, it's really multicultural.
00:32:16 --> 00:32:20 You have any thoughts about that? I'm not sure if you're back with us yet.
00:32:21 --> 00:32:26 But, you know, definitely something to be, you know, something to be watched.
00:32:26 --> 00:32:27 So I'm very excited about.
00:32:28 --> 00:32:31 I think Dave's having some technical difficulties. So we'll probably just give
00:32:31 --> 00:32:36 it a second, see if he's able to kind of come back on the line.
00:32:36 --> 00:32:38 Looks like he keeps on dropping off.
00:32:38 --> 00:32:41 Technology is your best friend and your worst enemy.
00:32:41 --> 00:32:45 So the last thing, and I'll at least go on to my point of view.
00:32:45 --> 00:32:50 So normally I would skip this since Dave's not here. But, you know,
00:32:50 --> 00:32:55 I'm just going to do him a favor and I'm going to speak about his question for Dave's Corner.
00:32:56 --> 00:32:58 So his Dave's Corner question is.
00:33:00 --> 00:33:06 You can have free food from any restaurant for the rest of your life.
00:33:07 --> 00:33:12 What restaurants are you choosing to eat from and why?
00:33:13 --> 00:33:15 And I had to do a little bit of thinking about this, but I mean,
00:33:15 --> 00:33:16 it's not a super big deal.
00:33:17 --> 00:33:22 I'm definitely a foodie, so I'm definitely going to take advantage of the food,
00:33:22 --> 00:33:28 but I'm not pressed on specific restaurants so much. But if I did have to make that decision.
00:33:29 --> 00:33:33 Mine is going to be a Mexican restaurant.
00:33:34 --> 00:33:38 It's going to be a pizza place.
00:33:39 --> 00:33:46 And it's probably going to be something similar to a sub hoagie wings place.
00:33:47 --> 00:33:51 So those are going to be my three places. If I had to do the pizza place.
00:33:52 --> 00:33:54 Probably going to do Papa John's.
00:33:55 --> 00:34:00 If I had to do the Mexican place. I mean, of course, they all have different
00:34:00 --> 00:34:01 names. I don't know what that would be.
00:34:02 --> 00:34:06 But then if I had to do the sub sandwich wings, that type of place is probably
00:34:06 --> 00:34:10 going to be a Capriati is very popular in our East Coast area.
00:34:10 --> 00:34:17 I'm not sure if it's popular nationwide, but those would be my choices.
00:34:17 --> 00:34:21 And unfortunately, it looks like Dave has not been able to pop back on.
00:34:21 --> 00:34:27 I guess his technical issues are more than he can handle, but,
00:34:28 --> 00:34:29 you know, but we're going to keep it moving.
00:34:30 --> 00:34:34 Again, we want to thank everybody for joining us today.
00:34:34 --> 00:34:40 On behalf of Dave Coker, who is not here, we definitely want to say check out,
00:34:40 --> 00:34:44 you know, all of our old episodes, catch up on everything.
00:34:44 --> 00:34:47 And we look forward to seeing everybody next week.
00:34:48 --> 00:34:51 Until then, we'll catch you next week, Tuesday.
00:34:58 --> 00:35:03 Tune in next week, ladies and gentlemen, for another edition of News and Trends
00:35:03 --> 00:35:05 with your hosts, Dave and Lynn.
