00:01:49 --> 00:01:56 Guide, DelawareBlack.com, Black Media Specialist, all-around good guy. How goes it, Dave? Dave.
00:01:56 --> 00:01:59 Man, I can't call it. It's one day at a time, man.
00:01:59 --> 00:02:04 Just trying to figure out what this weather is going to be doing.
00:02:04 --> 00:02:06 It's supposed to be a pretty mild week.
00:02:06 --> 00:02:10 Maybe it's breaking a little bit. What do you think?
00:02:11 --> 00:02:16 I don't know. I'm just thankful it is what it is and isn't what it could be.
00:02:19 --> 00:02:26 How was your weekend? Dave, my weekend was so busy. Yeah.
00:02:27 --> 00:02:35 I, I felt like I ran a triathlon this weekend. That's how sore and tired and defeated I felt.
00:02:36 --> 00:02:41 Oh, okay. Okay. That sounds like a trifecta there.
00:02:41 --> 00:02:44 Yeah. I mean, busy. What about you?
00:02:46 --> 00:02:53 Let me say, no, I've worked this weekend just, you know, just trying to keep my head above water.
00:02:54 --> 00:03:01 My, unfortunately, my son's mother, my ex-wife, is not doing well.
00:03:01 --> 00:03:04 She's in the hospital, so just dealing with that.
00:03:04 --> 00:03:09 Sorry to hear that. Yeah, but other than that, just, you know,
00:03:09 --> 00:03:13 keep us in prayer as far as that's concerned.
00:03:14 --> 00:03:19 Other than that everything's good man just enjoying enjoying
00:03:19 --> 00:03:22 this month this is the birthday dave
00:03:22 --> 00:03:26 enjoying what what you enjoying the it's the birthday month i'm always glad
00:03:26 --> 00:03:32 to see the birthday month coming around you know just this enjoying life that
00:03:32 --> 00:03:37 is you know so many people are leaving us man it's a lot it's a lot of people
00:03:37 --> 00:03:41 passing away and then we've had a couple celebrities that pass away this week.
00:03:41 --> 00:03:46 And, you know, it's just, you know, the beginning of this year has been kind
00:03:46 --> 00:03:50 of, kind of down, right? If it's not me, is it you?
00:03:51 --> 00:03:53 I don't know, Dave. I mean, you think that way?
00:03:54 --> 00:03:57 I feel like this is just how the beginning of the year feel.
00:03:57 --> 00:04:01 You know, I feel like we always go into the beginning of the year thinking,
00:04:01 --> 00:04:03 like, great things are going to happen.
00:04:03 --> 00:04:07 And, you know, because, I mean, Dave, you think about people pass away every
00:04:07 --> 00:04:10 month of the year, But it's kind of like, you know, when they pass away at the
00:04:10 --> 00:04:14 beginning of the year, you're like, oh, you know, we had so much hope. Yeah.
00:04:16 --> 00:04:19 You could get a lot going on, man. It just seems to be. But,
00:04:19 --> 00:04:23 hey, you know, we just got to be thankful.
00:04:24 --> 00:04:28 If it's family members, if it's friends or whatever, relatives,
00:04:29 --> 00:04:30 you know, just be thankful for
00:04:30 --> 00:04:36 the time that you got to know them and be around them. and you know just.
00:04:39 --> 00:04:43 Try to enjoy the life that you're living as well, that's what we have to do so,
00:04:45 --> 00:04:54 Speaking of someone, I know one of my favorite actors passed away a couple days ago, Robert Duvall.
00:04:55 --> 00:04:59 Oh, he's like, do you know any Robert Duvall movies, Leonard?
00:05:00 --> 00:05:01 That's the white guy, right?
00:05:03 --> 00:05:08 Yeah, the white guy, yeah. Yeah, I saw him on CNN yesterday.
00:05:08 --> 00:05:09 So, I mean, they were showing his stuff.
00:05:10 --> 00:05:15 Specifically, I can't remember what movies he was in, but I'm sure you do.
00:05:15 --> 00:05:19 So I'm sure you got to enlighten us. Well, I'll tell you what movie he wasn't in.
00:05:20 --> 00:05:24 Imitation of Life, he wasn't in that one. Okay, I'll just tell you that. Sure, okay.
00:05:26 --> 00:05:29 But one of my favorite movies that he was in was The Godfather.
00:05:30 --> 00:05:33 Did you ever see The Godfather? No, I did not.
00:05:34 --> 00:05:39 And Dave, I can tell you in my 49 years of life, well, I'm sorry,
00:05:39 --> 00:05:41 I have not seen it in its entirety.
00:05:42 --> 00:05:44 You know, of course, I call it bits and pieces.
00:05:46 --> 00:05:54 But with that said, I probably won't. I mean, I don't know that the desire level is low.
00:05:55 --> 00:05:58 Yeah. Well, if you hadn't seen it yet, you ain't gonna watch it.
00:05:58 --> 00:06:02 So sorry for that already, but you know, he's one of, he's, he was an Oscar
00:06:02 --> 00:06:08 award winning actor and he's done a ton of movies and, you know, so he was a great actor.
00:06:08 --> 00:06:15 I always enjoyed him and the stuff I saw him in. So, but, you know, Rest in peace, sir.
00:06:16 --> 00:06:19 And, well, it is Black History Month, so...
00:06:21 --> 00:06:26 You know, we got to enjoy it as we can because, you know, how quickly it goes by.
00:06:29 --> 00:06:34 So here we are. So I said that during the month of February,
00:06:34 --> 00:06:41 we wanted to start the show with, you know, a black history fact about a person.
00:06:42 --> 00:06:47 I said a little known black history fact, but I'm going to do one about somebody
00:06:47 --> 00:06:51 that everybody should have known. and he passed away this morning,
00:06:51 --> 00:06:55 they said, the Reverend Jesse Jackson.
00:06:56 --> 00:07:02 You know, very well-known person, you know, from civil rights and as a pastor
00:07:02 --> 00:07:07 and, you know, also ran for president of the United States at one time.
00:07:08 --> 00:07:11 So I just wanted to read a little bit about Dr.
00:07:11 --> 00:07:13 Reverend Jesse Jackson.
00:07:14 --> 00:07:19 He was born in 1941. He died on February the 17th.
00:07:19 --> 00:07:26 Was a towering American civil rights leader, Baptist minister,
00:07:27 --> 00:07:32 and politician who emerged from the SCLC under Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
00:07:32 --> 00:07:41 He founded Operation Push in 1971 and the Rainbow Coalition in 1984 and mounted
00:07:41 --> 00:07:46 historic 1980s presidential campaigns.
00:07:48 --> 00:07:50 Later receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
00:07:51 --> 00:07:58 Key life detail is a legacy about Jesse Jackson's early life and education.
00:07:58 --> 00:08:03 He was born in Greenville, South Carolina on October 8, 1941.
00:08:04 --> 00:08:08 He attended the University of Illinois on a football scholarship.
00:08:08 --> 00:08:09 I didn't know that. Okay.
00:08:10 --> 00:08:15 Before transferring to North Carolina A&T. Okay. HBCU, right?
00:08:16 --> 00:08:20 Civil rights activism, he was a protege of Dr.
00:08:20 --> 00:08:24 Martin Luther King, he became a leader in the Southern Christian Leadership
00:08:24 --> 00:08:32 Conference at CLC, and led Operation Ravid Basket in Chicago in 1960.
00:08:32 --> 00:08:42 Political campaigns, he ran for the Democratic Prudential nomination in 1984 and 1988,
00:08:42 --> 00:08:49 finished second in 1988, profoundly shifting the national political landscape.
00:08:49 --> 00:08:55 A key organization he founded, Operation PUSH, which is People United to Save
00:08:55 --> 00:08:58 Humanity, and the National Rainbow Coalition,
00:08:59 --> 00:09:04 which merged in 1996 to become the Rainbow PUSH Coalition,
00:09:05 --> 00:09:08 focusing on economic equality and social justice.
00:09:09 --> 00:09:16 International activism known for negotiating the release of hostages and prisoners
00:09:16 --> 00:09:20 in countries including Syria Iraq and Cuba,
00:09:21 --> 00:09:27 the awards that he's won awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Bill Clinton
00:09:27 --> 00:09:32 in 2000 and he was married to Jacqueline L.B.
00:09:33 --> 00:09:44 Jackson is the father of six children so there you have it you know we've lost a giant as far as the.
00:09:46 --> 00:09:53 Activism and also you know just civil rights person and you know keep in mind
00:09:53 --> 00:09:55 this guy marched with Dr.
00:09:55 --> 00:10:00 King and was very present in a lot of those big moments that Dr.
00:10:00 --> 00:10:07 King was a part of so we have to say you know we lost the We lost a big one
00:10:07 --> 00:10:09 here, and he's going to be missed.
00:10:10 --> 00:10:13 Unfortunately, you know, he fell ill to Parkinson's disease,
00:10:13 --> 00:10:14 and that's what took him...
00:10:16 --> 00:10:25 Who, you know, took him to his illness and everything and led to him passing away.
00:10:26 --> 00:10:32 But he did great things prior to that. He was 84 years old, and he will be missed.
00:10:32 --> 00:10:34 Any further comments on that?
00:10:35 --> 00:10:38 No, I mean, I think it was good information because even though I saw that he
00:10:38 --> 00:10:43 passed today, I didn't kind of get to see a recap of his bio.
00:10:44 --> 00:10:49 And you know what I thought was interesting I never knew what push stand for
00:10:49 --> 00:10:53 like the push call you know when I said that I was going to say Leonard did
00:10:53 --> 00:10:55 you know what that was the whole time I was going to ask you that,
00:10:56 --> 00:10:59 but you know it kind of sounds familiar but I definitely like,
00:11:00 --> 00:11:03 if that was on a trivia question,
00:11:03 --> 00:11:04 failed miserably.
00:11:06 --> 00:11:11 If you had multiple choice I think you probably might have gotten that maybe
00:11:11 --> 00:11:15 I mean not if all of them were legitimate Like, you know, everything started with the P-A-U-S-H.
00:11:16 --> 00:11:20 And then I thought it was interesting about, you said, you know,
00:11:20 --> 00:11:25 he negotiated, you know, with some foreign countries. I do. Yeah. Yeah.
00:11:25 --> 00:11:28 Syria, Iraq and Cuba.
00:11:28 --> 00:11:32 Yes. I mean, I thought that was interesting. I may have to read up a little more on that.
00:11:32 --> 00:11:36 I'm just curious, you know, because a lot of time when I think about the Jesse
00:11:36 --> 00:11:43 Jackson, his accent, you know, or, you know, his like pastoral preacher. Yeah.
00:11:44 --> 00:11:47 Accent. Well, of course, you know, we always think about him rhyming everything,
00:11:47 --> 00:11:52 you know, and how, you know, a lot of comedians would always make jokes about
00:11:52 --> 00:11:54 him, the way he talks, because he always rhymed everything.
00:11:55 --> 00:11:58 Seemed like it was always a big, paltry moment every time he spoke.
00:11:58 --> 00:12:02 Mm-hmm. You know, but he did have that sound of an accent, though. Yeah.
00:12:03 --> 00:12:07 Yeah, so. But, you know, he was a great man.
00:12:07 --> 00:12:12 And, you know, when you have somebody like that, you know, you look at the history,
00:12:12 --> 00:12:16 you know, we're losing all of our historic figures, you know?
00:12:16 --> 00:12:21 It's really a thing, you know? and people that, you know,
00:12:21 --> 00:12:28 like, I guess your age range would probably be the last to really know anything
00:12:28 --> 00:12:31 about him because anybody younger than you probably,
00:12:31 --> 00:12:35 it's probably going to be a 50-50 split as to knowing who he was.
00:12:36 --> 00:12:37 You know what I mean? Yeah.
00:12:38 --> 00:12:43 Yeah. Yeah. So, but I'm sure he will be missing.
00:12:43 --> 00:12:48 All right. We're going to move on to our next story, or our first story, I should say.
00:12:49 --> 00:12:53 That was our little-known history fact that we just, yeah, not so little-known
00:12:53 --> 00:12:55 because everybody knows who Jesse Jackson knows.
00:12:56 --> 00:13:04 The first story is five-year-old 911 lesson brings police to their home after
00:13:04 --> 00:13:06 mother allegedly leaves children alone.
00:13:07 --> 00:13:10 When you hear these stories, you'd be saying, what were they thinking?
00:13:11 --> 00:13:17 Right. You know? You know, so it's a lesson meant to be to protect the child
00:13:17 --> 00:13:23 instead became the reason police intervened at an Arkansas home, authorities said.
00:13:23 --> 00:13:30 A five-year-old boy used emergency training his mother gave him when he realized no adults.
00:13:31 --> 00:13:35 Were present to care for him or his younger siblings.
00:13:36 --> 00:13:43 According to law and crime, the incident unfolded last week in Jonesboro.
00:13:43 --> 00:13:49 Emergency operators received a call from the child who said his parents were not home.
00:13:49 --> 00:13:54 A second call soon followed from the same location, prompting officers to respond
00:13:54 --> 00:13:57 to the residents to check on the situation.
00:13:57 --> 00:14:03 When the police arrived, They were unable to enter through the front door, which was locked.
00:14:03 --> 00:14:09 They ultimately made entry through an unlocked rear door and discovered three
00:14:09 --> 00:14:16 children, ages one, two, and five, alone inside the home.
00:14:17 --> 00:14:20 According to police reports, the house was in poor condition.
00:14:21 --> 00:14:25 Officers documented garbage scattered throughout the residence,
00:14:25 --> 00:14:31 dirty dishes, filling the sink, vomit on the kitchen floor, and live roaches
00:14:31 --> 00:14:34 visible on both the floors and the walls.
00:14:35 --> 00:14:39 The heat inside the home was also set unusually high.
00:14:39 --> 00:14:48 Police later contacted the children's grandmother after locating a phone inside
00:14:48 --> 00:14:52 the house with her contact information.
00:14:53 --> 00:14:59 The grandmother provided a phone number for the mother, Talia Andrews,
00:14:59 --> 00:15:06 22, who told officers she was at another apartment complex about 15 minutes away.
00:15:07 --> 00:15:12 Andrews said her 14-year-old nephew had been assigned to watch the children.
00:15:12 --> 00:15:17 Investigators later determined that the nephew had not been at the home at any point.
00:15:17 --> 00:15:25 His mother told police he had spent the entire night at her residence and officers
00:15:25 --> 00:15:29 and concluded he was not involved in supervising the children.
00:15:29 --> 00:15:35 As officers waited for the mother to return home, The five-year-old said the
00:15:35 --> 00:15:39 children had been home alone all day long.
00:15:40 --> 00:15:46 In a post-Miranda interview, Andrews explained that her son made the calls because
00:15:46 --> 00:15:50 he wanted to be a police officer when he grows up.
00:15:50 --> 00:15:54 Added that he taught him how to call the police if he needed help.
00:15:55 --> 00:16:00 Authorities charges Andrews with three felony counts related to child endangerment,
00:16:00 --> 00:16:04 along with an additional charge of criminal impersonation.
00:16:04 --> 00:16:13 She remains in custody at the Craighead County Jail on a $5 bond while her
00:16:13 --> 00:16:16 children have been placed in the care of their grandmother.
00:16:18 --> 00:16:22 Okay. The year is 2026.
00:16:23 --> 00:16:27 Why are we still hearing stories like this? Yeah, it's crazy.
00:16:28 --> 00:16:35 It's five, two, and one. And the five-year-old is watching the other two in
00:16:35 --> 00:16:40 a house that is obviously sounds like it should be condemned.
00:16:40 --> 00:16:44 Thank God the heat was working. Right. You know?
00:16:46 --> 00:16:52 But, and the mother's thinking that it's okay to leave a 14-year-old in charge of three small kids.
00:16:53 --> 00:16:56 Even though obviously she lied to try to keep herself
00:16:56 --> 00:16:59 out of trouble what's your thoughts on this story leonard
00:16:59 --> 00:17:02 i think it's crazy you know in my
00:17:02 --> 00:17:04 mind and even though she may have been of a different
00:17:04 --> 00:17:07 age it's like kids raising kids you know
00:17:07 --> 00:17:10 kids having kids who are
00:17:10 --> 00:17:14 not ready to be parents you know obviously obviously
00:17:14 --> 00:17:16 it was a kid having good because he got a five-year-old that means she
00:17:16 --> 00:17:19 was 20 she was what uh she's 22
00:17:19 --> 00:17:23 now so she would have been 17 right and
00:17:23 --> 00:17:26 then had two more after that yes i
00:17:26 --> 00:17:29 mean i mean it's crazy it's kind of sad because
00:17:29 --> 00:17:32 it's like well first of all you know all types
00:17:32 --> 00:17:39 of things can go wrong so she she's very lucky in a certain way but you know
00:17:39 --> 00:17:44 in another way it's like okay do these kids need to even be with her you know
00:17:44 --> 00:17:52 yeah i know So I'm sure Child Protective Services is involved now.
00:17:52 --> 00:17:57 And I'm sure they're probably, depending on what the situation is with the grandmother,
00:17:58 --> 00:18:00 that might be a responsibility.
00:18:00 --> 00:18:04 Let me tell you, you know, working for the state and working in social services.
00:18:06 --> 00:18:13 There's more grandmothers taking care of children now than ever before. Are you surprised?
00:18:14 --> 00:18:17 No, I'm not, to be honest. It's not anymore. It used to surprise me.
00:18:18 --> 00:18:24 And I'm not talking about the 40-year-old grandmother or the 45-year-old grandmother,
00:18:24 --> 00:18:25 50-year-old grandmother.
00:18:26 --> 00:18:34 I'm talking about 65, 70, 80-year-olds taking care of two to five-year-olds.
00:18:35 --> 00:18:40 I mean, how fair is that to do that? But they're only doing it because they
00:18:40 --> 00:18:45 know if they don't step up, that child's going to go into a system. Yeah.
00:18:45 --> 00:18:48 Be lost in the system. And be lost in the system.
00:18:49 --> 00:18:55 But we have so many grandparents taking care of young children right now. It's unbelievable.
00:18:56 --> 00:19:01 And it's for situations like this, I'm sure. A lot of those times situations happen.
00:19:02 --> 00:19:08 Thank God she had enough gumption to teach the kid how to use the phone to call 911.
00:19:09 --> 00:19:16 Right. But also, it's going to be a downfall as well.
00:19:17 --> 00:19:20 I'm a little surprised about the bell, though. It was only $5.
00:19:20 --> 00:19:23 It seemed like it would have been higher if they had three felony charges against her.
00:19:25 --> 00:19:28 Oh, craziness. Yeah, it is crazy.
00:19:29 --> 00:19:34 You know, and, you know, we have too many kids having kids, and they're not
00:19:34 --> 00:19:39 ready for motherhood in most cases, and this is the kind of stuff that happens.
00:19:40 --> 00:19:43 I mean, there's so much craziness going on out there. I saw something the other
00:19:43 --> 00:19:48 day with a young man stabbing his three-month-old in the stomach. Did you see that?
00:19:49 --> 00:19:54 No, I didn't. Well, you know, I mean, I don't get it. I really don't.
00:19:55 --> 00:20:02 So, but hopefully the situation will be handled, you know, in the best way possible for those children.
00:20:03 --> 00:20:07 If the grandmother is the best bet for them to be safe and be taken care of,
00:20:08 --> 00:20:11 let's hope that that continues to happen for them.
00:20:11 --> 00:20:14 Right, right. All right.
00:20:15 --> 00:20:20 All right, this next story I couldn't wait to talk about. I know you couldn't.
00:20:21 --> 00:20:23 I saw that last week. I was like, here's Dave.
00:20:25 --> 00:20:28 I said, I got to keep this story on. I got to keep this story on.
00:20:29 --> 00:20:35 First of all, had you heard anything about this? Yes, I had heard about it. Okay, all right. Okay.
00:20:36 --> 00:20:43 You already talked about Leonard's alma mater here. You know, he's a proud Rattler.
00:20:44 --> 00:20:49 So, you know, so I just want to prep to everybody by saying,
00:20:49 --> 00:20:53 go Rattlers, go Rattlers, go. You know, so, you know.
00:20:54 --> 00:21:05 So, Bam Yu says, Barring Black from Black History Month Flyers was a staff-level error.
00:21:06 --> 00:21:10 Okay, then these are college students. Let's keep this in mind,
00:21:10 --> 00:21:13 by the way. All right, just thought I'd put that part out there.
00:21:14 --> 00:21:19 On Monday, News One reported that FAMU College of Law student,
00:21:20 --> 00:21:28 Aaliyah Stewart, said she was told by FAMU that she had to abbreviate Black
00:21:28 --> 00:21:34 History Month so that the word black was invisible on the flyer.
00:21:34 --> 00:21:41 So the HBCU has released a statement calling the entire thing a staff-level error.
00:21:42 --> 00:21:48 The mandate was reportedly in response to Florida legislation signed by DeSantis,
00:21:48 --> 00:21:51 our favorite governor in the whole United States,
00:21:52 --> 00:21:59 and reinforced by the state board of governors that prohibits the use of state
00:21:59 --> 00:22:07 or federal funds for DEI, or diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
00:22:07 --> 00:22:14 It was black affirmation action and women as well, Stuart said,
00:22:15 --> 00:22:17 explaining what words were flagged.
00:22:17 --> 00:22:22 We couldn't use the word black in Black History Month.
00:22:22 --> 00:22:29 We would have to abbreviate it, he continued. I was very angry and baffled because
00:22:29 --> 00:22:34 this is historically, this is a historically black college and university.
00:22:34 --> 00:22:39 And for them to say we can't use the word black was kind of insane.
00:22:40 --> 00:22:48 Floyd AMM is now pushing back on the narrative stating this was a staff level
00:22:48 --> 00:22:53 error, an overly cautious interpretation that went behind the law,
00:22:54 --> 00:22:58 what the law requires, and that has since been corrected.
00:22:59 --> 00:23:04 In a statement sent to News One, President Marva Johnson, J.D.
00:23:04 --> 00:23:10 Said the following, As the state's only public historically black university,
00:23:11 --> 00:23:16 the word black is central to the mission and identity of Florida A&M.
00:23:16 --> 00:23:24 We take seriously our responsibility to communicate clearly and constantly on
00:23:24 --> 00:23:28 matters of law, governance, and public accountability.
00:23:28 --> 00:23:35 The university unequivocally confirms that the use of the word black or the
00:23:35 --> 00:23:39 phrase black history month does not violate the letter,
00:23:39 --> 00:23:44 spirit, or intent of Florida Senate Bill 266.
00:23:44 --> 00:23:52 Board of Governors Regulation 9, or any relevant federal guidance.
00:23:53 --> 00:23:57 BAMU is celebrating Black History Month with the full support of the governor.
00:23:58 --> 00:24:01 Board of Governors, and state elected bodies.
00:24:02 --> 00:24:07 These activities began on February 1st with the opening of a new exhibition
00:24:07 --> 00:24:13 at the Meek Eaton Black Archives Research Center and Museum on the main campus.
00:24:13 --> 00:24:20 Throughout the month, the university will continue to highlight and honor FAMU, historically,
00:24:21 --> 00:24:30 black figures, and culminating in our annual Arambee Festival on February 28th.
00:24:30 --> 00:24:33 Now, will you be one of those people they honor, man? I mean,
00:24:33 --> 00:24:41 you know, you went there, you know, you're pretty famous alumni from there. Not really.
00:24:42 --> 00:24:46 I probably need to put myself on the radar You need to put yourself on the radar?
00:24:47 --> 00:24:56 Okay How are they going to tell a black HBCU Not to use the word black How do you do that?
00:24:56 --> 00:25:03 Yeah, that's crazy I mean, you went there Yeah I mean, you know the culture
00:25:03 --> 00:25:07 And, you know That's one thing I will say When I was coming up.
00:25:09 --> 00:25:13 HBCUs like during my time wasn't,
00:25:14 --> 00:25:20 like the place to go to, you know, I mean, you know, you had the people that
00:25:20 --> 00:25:26 went to HBCUs back then were people who had family members that went there,
00:25:27 --> 00:25:28 and that's how they ended up there.
00:25:29 --> 00:25:32 Even though FitzFlorida A&M was a place that I wanted to go to,
00:25:33 --> 00:25:37 it wasn't because it was the HBCU necessarily that I wanted to go there.
00:25:37 --> 00:25:40 I just fell in love with, at the time, the
00:25:40 --> 00:25:44 sports programs were pretty good and i just
00:25:44 --> 00:25:48 fell in love with the the school itself but
00:25:48 --> 00:25:55 now of course hbcus are living their best life right now right with the and
00:25:55 --> 00:26:02 you know when when the tv show a different world came about that kind of changed
00:26:02 --> 00:26:07 the way a lot of people looked at hbcus even though it was a fictional place,
00:26:07 --> 00:26:14 it still made enough people watch in order to want to go to these schools.
00:26:14 --> 00:26:19 And then, of course, social media has really blown up HBCUs now.
00:26:19 --> 00:26:22 So when you see a story like this, what's your thoughts on it?
00:26:23 --> 00:26:27 So I think there was two things that come across my mind.
00:26:28 --> 00:26:34 One is, And so recently, whoever has taken over like the head of FAMU,
00:26:34 --> 00:26:42 which I believe is a black lady, is somebody that they do not want in there.
00:26:42 --> 00:26:45 And I believe she has ties to like a Trump supporting.
00:26:46 --> 00:26:50 So, yeah. So the students at FAMU have actually been protesting.
00:26:50 --> 00:26:55 And I don't think they switched their out yet, but I'm not 100 percent sure.
00:26:55 --> 00:26:59 But the students at FAMU have been protesting. thing. So that's one aspect.
00:27:00 --> 00:27:07 Is that Marva Johnson? Is that the person? I'm not sure. It may be.
00:27:08 --> 00:27:11 So the second aspect of it is,
00:27:12 --> 00:27:18 The law school is not on FAMU's main campus. So FAMU's campus is,
00:27:19 --> 00:27:20 of course, Tallahassee, Florida.
00:27:20 --> 00:27:26 The law school is in Orlando, Florida. Oh, really?
00:27:26 --> 00:27:35 Yeah. And I believe the law school isn't as, well, I won't say diverse. It is less diverse.
00:27:35 --> 00:27:42 It's more diverse than the university. So, you know, FAMU is probably just about majority black.
00:27:42 --> 00:27:45 I don't believe the law school has that percentage.
00:27:46 --> 00:27:54 So, you know, with both those factors, possibly the Marva Johnson and demographics.
00:27:54 --> 00:27:56 Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised.
00:27:58 --> 00:28:01 Yeah, because, I mean, Dave, you know, that's the case. Can you even say you
00:28:01 --> 00:28:06 go to HBCU? Do you have to say, hey, I just go to a historical college and university?
00:28:06 --> 00:28:09 Like, you can't use the word black and stuff?
00:28:11 --> 00:28:14 Yeah, and that's interesting because, I mean, you know, if you can't say,
00:28:15 --> 00:28:16 you know, because, you know,
00:28:16 --> 00:28:22 even though you might know what HBCU stands for, a lot of people,
00:28:22 --> 00:28:25 every now and then you'll get that person, oh, man, I can't think of what the
00:28:25 --> 00:28:26 initials stand for. What is it again?
00:28:27 --> 00:28:31 You know, then you got to say historically, bleep. You know, no.
00:28:32 --> 00:28:38 College and university, you know, so, but it's really crazy that that would
00:28:38 --> 00:28:43 even be a issue or be a thing, you know, I don't know.
00:28:43 --> 00:28:47 It's, I saw it and I said, oh, well, I got to talk about this because Leonard,
00:28:47 --> 00:28:50 this is where, you know, this is Leonard's alma mater.
00:28:50 --> 00:28:54 I'm sure Leonard's plugged, plugged in on it, you know, because of course,
00:28:54 --> 00:28:58 anytime anybody mentioned FAMU, he perks up, so, you know,
00:28:59 --> 00:29:04 yeah okay all right well tell them to get that tell them to honor you man you
00:29:04 --> 00:29:08 know you gotta tell them to honor you tell them tell them who you are so I I
00:29:08 --> 00:29:11 feel like there's a couple more things I want to do before I would even send
00:29:11 --> 00:29:14 that information like hey just let you know I'm an alumni,
00:29:15 --> 00:29:23 so I'm I'm trying to get this stuff together before it's my time to eat the
00:29:23 --> 00:29:28 bucket okay all right I hear you I hear you okay Alright,
00:29:28 --> 00:29:31 moving on to our next story What's more?
00:29:33 --> 00:29:38 Only black governor left off the White House governor's dinner list.
00:29:38 --> 00:29:43 It seemed like every time there's something, this governor's dinner comes up,
00:29:43 --> 00:29:46 they're leaving somebody black off of it. Have you noticed this about this?
00:29:47 --> 00:29:52 No, but... This is the big thing they do every year. Who was that that they... Oh, man.
00:29:52 --> 00:29:57 Why can't I remember? It was a big person, a big celebrity that was supposed
00:29:57 --> 00:30:01 to be there, and then they took her off the list.
00:30:01 --> 00:30:06 This was a couple years ago was it a female or was it a male you don't remember that,
00:30:07 --> 00:30:13 well I can't think of who it was they were supposed to be on there they were
00:30:13 --> 00:30:16 supposed to be a part of it and they were,
00:30:17 --> 00:30:26 uninvited oh I know who it was Amber Rose Amber Rose is the writer not Amber
00:30:26 --> 00:30:29 Rose well Amber Amber, no,
00:30:30 --> 00:30:32 Amber, what's Amber's last name?
00:30:33 --> 00:30:35 Her last name's not Rose. She's
00:30:35 --> 00:30:41 on Seth Joyner. She's a writer on the Seth Joyner show, late night show.
00:30:41 --> 00:30:44 And she was supposed to be at that dinner.
00:30:44 --> 00:30:49 She was invited, and they disinvited her. She was supposed to be like host or
00:30:49 --> 00:30:52 something on the show, for me, on that dinner.
00:30:52 --> 00:30:59 And they uninvited her because she always pokes fun at the Republicans and,
00:30:59 --> 00:31:01 of course, the president.
00:31:02 --> 00:31:07 And he said, oh, no, she likes to pick fun at it. Because he also writes for
00:31:07 --> 00:31:09 Saturday Night Live as well.
00:31:09 --> 00:31:15 Oh, wow. Okay. Didn't I know? Yeah. So Amber Ruffin. That's her name. Amber Ruffin. Oh, okay.
00:31:15 --> 00:31:18 Okay. We actually talked about this when it happened. Okay.
00:31:20 --> 00:31:28 So anyway, Maryland Governor Westmore says it is not lost on him that he was
00:31:28 --> 00:31:32 excluded from a White House dinner for governors.
00:31:32 --> 00:31:36 See, he's a threat. Everybody's scared of this. You know, them guys are scared
00:31:36 --> 00:31:38 of him because he's intelligent, you know.
00:31:39 --> 00:31:44 He kind of has that Barack Obama swag about him, you know.
00:31:44 --> 00:31:48 So they're a little scared of him. They really are.
00:31:49 --> 00:31:55 It says, a decision that singled out the nation's only black governor from a
00:31:55 --> 00:31:57 long standing bipartisan tradition.
00:31:59 --> 00:32:02 Moore, a Democrat and vice chair of the National Governors Association,
00:32:03 --> 00:32:09 told CNN, State of the Union, that he was never invited to the annual National
00:32:09 --> 00:32:12 Governors Association dinner at the White House.
00:32:12 --> 00:32:20 A decades-long bipartisan tradition held during the NGA's winter meetings.
00:32:21 --> 00:32:26 The dinner is typically attended by the governors from both parties and hosted
00:32:26 --> 00:32:33 by the sitting president. It is not lost on me that I'm not the only black governor in this country.
00:32:34 --> 00:32:38 And I find that to be particularly painful.
00:32:39 --> 00:32:44 So he was just making a reference that he's the only black governor that wasn't invited. Mm-hmm.
00:32:45 --> 00:32:52 More so, adding that his exclusion was especially confusing given that recently,
00:32:52 --> 00:32:58 he recently helped lead a bipartisan delegation of governors to the White House.
00:32:58 --> 00:33:03 President Donald Trump had already announced that this year's winter meetings
00:33:03 --> 00:33:08 would include only Republican governors. That's crazy.
00:33:09 --> 00:33:13 Yeah, I know. But Boer, along with Colorado.
00:33:14 --> 00:33:22 Governor Jared Polis was specifically blocked from attending the Black Tie Dinner,
00:33:22 --> 00:33:26 even as other Democratic governors were invited.
00:33:27 --> 00:33:32 Moore emphasized that while he cannot speak to the president's intent,
00:33:33 --> 00:33:39 the optics are impossible to ignore. I'm not in the room because of someone's
00:33:39 --> 00:33:41 benevolence, Moore said.
00:33:41 --> 00:33:44 I'm in the room because I belong there.
00:33:45 --> 00:33:50 And the room was incomplete until I got there, he added on X.
00:33:50 --> 00:33:57 As the nation's only black governor, I can't ignore that being singled out for
00:33:57 --> 00:34:02 exclusion from this bipartisan tradition carries added weight,
00:34:02 --> 00:34:06 whether that was an intent or not.
00:34:07 --> 00:34:13 What makes especially confounding is that just weeks ago, I was at the White
00:34:13 --> 00:34:15 House with a bipartisan group of governors,
00:34:15 --> 00:34:24 working with the administration on reforms to lower energy costs and strengthening grid reliability.
00:34:25 --> 00:34:31 Moore continued. We proved in that moment what's possible when we stay focused
00:34:31 --> 00:34:33 on outcomes over politics.
00:34:33 --> 00:34:41 As Governor of Maryland and Vice Chair of the NDA, my approach will never change.
00:34:41 --> 00:34:47 I'm ready to work with the administration anywhere we can deliver results.
00:34:48 --> 00:34:52 Yet, I promise the people of my state I will work with anybody,
00:34:53 --> 00:34:55 but will bow down to nobody.
00:34:56 --> 00:34:59 And I guess the President doesn't like that.
00:35:00 --> 00:35:02 Okay. So.
00:35:03 --> 00:35:04 You know.
00:35:06 --> 00:35:11 That President of the United States, how many times do we read stories that
00:35:11 --> 00:35:15 shows how petty he is? Yeah.
00:35:16 --> 00:35:24 By the minute. I mean, now, keep in mind, you know, we know when you listen,
00:35:25 --> 00:35:28 when Wes Moore speaks, you know, he speaks, you know, he speaks very well.
00:35:29 --> 00:35:31 You know, he's a very enthusiastic guy.
00:35:33 --> 00:35:37 He has a lot of ideals He's such a smart guy,
00:35:38 --> 00:35:43 The president don't want no parts of this man And that's probably why he said,
00:35:43 --> 00:35:48 you know, hey, I'm not gonna invite I'm not gonna have him here You know,
00:35:48 --> 00:35:52 to mess Make me look bad or whatever the case may be He only wants people around
00:35:52 --> 00:35:57 him that makes him look good That's all he wants Well, not even that make him look good,
00:35:57 --> 00:36:01 that do what he says Well, that makes him look good, doesn't it? Sometimes.
00:36:02 --> 00:36:08 Sometimes. Yeah, well, so when people are sending out videos from his account,
00:36:08 --> 00:36:14 supposedly, that show things that definitely shouldn't have been put out there.
00:36:14 --> 00:36:20 So, I don't know. How could you leave the nation's only black governor off of
00:36:20 --> 00:36:23 that meeting and think he's not going to know why?
00:36:23 --> 00:36:27 And during Black History Month. During Black History Month.
00:36:27 --> 00:36:32 Yeah, that makes no sense whatsoever. And we got to do better.
00:36:32 --> 00:36:33 We definitely got to do better.
00:36:34 --> 00:36:40 The president, he never missed a beat, man. He never misses a beat.
00:36:41 --> 00:36:44 But he'll have to deal with Wes Moore because Wes Moore is not going anywhere.
00:36:45 --> 00:36:50 I mean, you know, if he keeps his hand clean, that man's going to make some
00:36:50 --> 00:36:52 noise probably in the next election.
00:36:53 --> 00:36:58 I really believe that I think they're prepping him to get him there. We'll see.
00:36:59 --> 00:37:06 So I just wanted to mention that. Shame on you. And I'm not just going to say President Trump.
00:37:08 --> 00:37:11 I keep saying I'm not going to say that name anymore. The president,
00:37:11 --> 00:37:15 we just can't blame the president. We have to blame everybody involved.
00:37:15 --> 00:37:17 Right. Because how can you have that dinner?
00:37:17 --> 00:37:25 I mean, if he's the one that's saying that it can't come, why didn't anybody speak up and say why?
00:37:25 --> 00:37:27 Why didn't any of the other governors say anything?
00:37:27 --> 00:37:32 Well, I guess they are the ones that he controls, maybe.
00:37:33 --> 00:37:35 So I'm sure DeSantis was there.
00:37:37 --> 00:37:43 I'm sure. So, but anyway, you got anything you want to add here?
00:37:44 --> 00:37:49 No, I mean, I just think we know that he's petty, so I think we shouldn't be surprised.
00:37:50 --> 00:37:55 And I think we shouldn't be surprised for him to act like he doesn't know what's going on.
00:37:55 --> 00:38:00 Cause he's like, oh, well, you know, I, I didn't send out the letters. I didn't mail it.
00:38:01 --> 00:38:04 You know, I feel like that's his, you know, plausible deniability.
00:38:05 --> 00:38:10 Yeah, there you go. Yeah, definitely plausible deniability. all right well i'm
00:38:10 --> 00:38:14 sure i'm sure that you know he ain't gonna forget and westmore ain't gonna forget
00:38:14 --> 00:38:21 i'm sure you'll remember that right okay and turn around and turn about his fair play as.
00:38:23 --> 00:38:27 I'm sure there's going to be something that Trump's going to need from him in
00:38:27 --> 00:38:29 Maryland. It has to do with Maryland, and we'll see how that goes.
00:38:31 --> 00:38:35 Okay, I guess that brings us to Dave's Corner. Dave, before you let it,
00:38:35 --> 00:38:36 I do want to make a quick announcement.
00:38:37 --> 00:38:43 Okay. Yep, so I do want to, so at our campground this weekend,
00:38:43 --> 00:38:47 we are going to be hosting, and when I say hosting, we're just the venue.
00:38:47 --> 00:38:51 We don't have anything, you know, but we are hosting. Disclaimer, folks, disclaimer.
00:38:52 --> 00:38:55 Okay, good. Yeah, disclaimer. I mean, neither good nor bad.
00:38:56 --> 00:39:00 But we are hosting the Miss Black America pageant.
00:39:00 --> 00:39:06 And the Miss Black America pageant is the first pageant for people of color
00:39:06 --> 00:39:09 that they could participate in.
00:39:09 --> 00:39:18 So this year, 2026, is the 58th year of the Miss Black America pageant.
00:39:18 --> 00:39:25 Pageant and the lady out of Philadelphia, Alita Anderson, they have selected
00:39:25 --> 00:39:31 or they will be having the pageant at our venue at the campground.
00:39:31 --> 00:39:37 So the pageant is going to be this weekend, February 20th and 21st in Houston, Delaware.
00:39:38 --> 00:39:43 That's about 20 minutes south of Dover, Delaware, maybe an hour and 20 minutes
00:39:43 --> 00:39:48 from Philly, maybe two hours from Baltimore, D.C., as such.
00:39:48 --> 00:39:52 But I just want to read a little bit about the history of the pageant.
00:39:53 --> 00:39:58 So the first pageant was founded in 1968 in Atlantic City by J.
00:39:58 --> 00:40:04 Morris Anderson, and it was in response to the exclusion of Black women from
00:40:04 --> 00:40:07 mainstream national pageants at the time.
00:40:07 --> 00:40:14 The first winner, Sandra Williams of Philadelphia became a powerful symbol of
00:40:14 --> 00:40:19 beauty, dignity, and representation during the civil rights era.
00:40:20 --> 00:40:23 For nearly six decades, the pageant has celebrated scholarship,
00:40:24 --> 00:40:30 leadership, cultural pride, and highlighting achievements and voices of black
00:40:30 --> 00:40:31 women across the country.
00:40:31 --> 00:40:36 This year, as I said, marks the 58th year of the pageant.
00:40:37 --> 00:40:43 And they, catch this, they're actually going to be doing some filming during
00:40:43 --> 00:40:49 this pageant that's going to go in a documentary that's going to be produced for the 60th.
00:40:50 --> 00:40:55 Anniversary celebration. So I guess that's 2028. They'll have a documentary about that.
00:40:55 --> 00:41:00 So, you know, I think it's kind of cool for anybody who is in the Delaware area.
00:41:00 --> 00:41:06 So that's probably immediately New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC.
00:41:06 --> 00:41:10 This would probably be a great event to attend. As you can see,
00:41:10 --> 00:41:19 ladies and women competing to be, you know, Miss Black America and the other division.
00:41:19 --> 00:41:24 I think there's a Miss Senior pageant, and there may even be a Miss Junior pageant.
00:41:24 --> 00:41:33 But if anyone is interested in more information, you can go to MissBlackAmericaPageant.com.
00:41:34 --> 00:41:35 In fact, let me make sure I got that right.
00:41:36 --> 00:41:39 Let me make sure it's not just Miss Black America. Yeah, there you go.
00:41:39 --> 00:41:43 I know. You use the word black like that last story we just did, okay?
00:41:44 --> 00:41:48 Alright, so the correct website is,
00:41:49 --> 00:41:51 i'm sorry missblackamerica.com there
00:41:51 --> 00:41:58 it is okay all right and what what's the price for the tickets no actually i'm
00:41:58 --> 00:42:03 not sure people have to go to the website and look okay all right there you
00:42:03 --> 00:42:11 go folks miss black america patching right down at the uh g and r campground in houston delaware.
00:42:12 --> 00:42:17 Owned by my podcast partner, Leonard Young, and his wife, Yolanda.
00:42:19 --> 00:42:23 You know, make your way down there. Hopefully, we have good weather and everything.
00:42:23 --> 00:42:32 And you'll see some beautiful women competing for the title Miss Black USA.
00:42:32 --> 00:42:35 Is that what it is? Yeah, Miss Black USA.
00:42:35 --> 00:42:40 Right, Miss Black USA. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. That's a different part. Miss Black America.
00:42:41 --> 00:42:45 You're here trying to get us tongue-tied. I know. And it's funny because I always
00:42:45 --> 00:42:46 wondered the difference between the two.
00:42:48 --> 00:42:52 Ms. Black and America, is that representing Canada too? Or is that?
00:42:53 --> 00:42:58 No, just America. Just America. But then what's the difference between Ms. Black and USA?
00:42:59 --> 00:43:03 Just different names, same pageant. Same concept.
00:43:03 --> 00:43:07 Okay. Different pageant though. Yeah, no, definitely different.
00:43:08 --> 00:43:12 Okay. Do you know any famous person that might have won this competition?
00:43:13 --> 00:43:17 Yes, so there are, and hopefully I'm saying it right, because I can't remember,
00:43:18 --> 00:43:20 and Dave, I might have told you wrong information.
00:43:21 --> 00:43:31 So I don't know if they won the overall pageant or if they were a contestant, like a state winner.
00:43:32 --> 00:43:37 So two people who I was told, and I actually met one of them today. I got a picture.
00:43:37 --> 00:43:40 I had to send it to you. the lady her name is
00:43:40 --> 00:43:43 and I'm sorry I don't remember what her real name is
00:43:43 --> 00:43:47 but she was on the movie Friday and she
00:43:47 --> 00:43:53 was the Miss Parker lady like hey Miss Parker that was on that was the person
00:43:53 --> 00:43:58 that was on Bernie Mac's show right was she on that show she played his wife
00:43:58 --> 00:44:05 right no no no no that wasn't Miss Parker Dave we need to take your black card away,
00:44:06 --> 00:44:08 Wait, hold on. I thought that was Miss Parker.
00:44:08 --> 00:44:11 No, on Bernie Mac's show, that was Kalita Smith.
00:44:11 --> 00:44:16 Right, and I thought she played Miss Parker. In the movie Friday? Yes.
00:44:17 --> 00:44:23 Man, you got me looking it up. See, listeners, this is what I deal with over here.
00:44:23 --> 00:44:26 You always start stuff, man. Yes.
00:44:26 --> 00:44:34 No, this lady's name is Kathleen Bradley, And she was also one of the first
00:44:34 --> 00:44:40 black women who was considered one of Barker's beauties. Price is right.
00:44:41 --> 00:44:44 Okay. Okay. Kathleen Bradley. Okay.
00:44:45 --> 00:44:48 Oh, you know what I'm thinking about? She was in another movie. That's right. Okay.
00:44:49 --> 00:44:54 You know what? That was another movie. Okay. Forget it. Never mind. Okay. All right.
00:44:54 --> 00:44:59 Okay. Miss Parker. Anyway. All right. And who else?
00:44:59 --> 00:45:02 You said it was somebody else? Yep. And then I'm not sure if she's there yet,
00:45:02 --> 00:45:07 but I believe I was told, and, you know, I'm going to skip this one.
00:45:08 --> 00:45:11 Oops. I'm going to skip this one just because I don't know the name and I don't
00:45:11 --> 00:45:14 want to get any information wrong. At least this person, I had a name and the
00:45:14 --> 00:45:16 other person, I don't have any name for.
00:45:17 --> 00:45:20 But regardless you know there will be some people there and
00:45:20 --> 00:45:23 you know probably just be a good good time anyone who
00:45:23 --> 00:45:27 is i do want to let them know every year they
00:45:27 --> 00:45:33 are looking for people who are representing any of the 50 states to in the pageant
00:45:33 --> 00:45:38 so you know if someone's in the area you know it'd be great to kind of see you
00:45:38 --> 00:45:41 live and in person if they're not in the area it'd be good to go to the website
00:45:41 --> 00:45:43 and request information on maybe how.
00:45:45 --> 00:45:48 Somebody can be one of the competitors for next year's pageant.
00:45:49 --> 00:45:51 Sure. All right. Cool. All right.
00:45:53 --> 00:45:57 All right. Well, hopefully everybody who's listening who is in the vicinity
00:45:57 --> 00:46:02 and want to see a pageant comes down to Houston, Delaware and check it out.
00:46:03 --> 00:46:07 Okay. The GNR campground, folks. That's where everything's taking place on the
00:46:07 --> 00:46:09 20th and the 21st She said, right?
00:46:09 --> 00:46:13 Yep. There it is. Okay. All right. Great. Great.
00:46:13 --> 00:46:17 All right. That leads us into Leonard's favorite part of the show,
00:46:17 --> 00:46:21 which is Dave's corner. His favorite part of the show, like I said,
00:46:22 --> 00:46:26 So did you hear this talk about how, and this all came from,
00:46:27 --> 00:46:30 because I actually listened, I was listening to the podcast when he said it.
00:46:31 --> 00:46:37 T.I. was a guest on the Shannon Sharp podcast with Chad Johnson.
00:46:38 --> 00:46:42 And they talked about, they were talking about versus.
00:46:42 --> 00:46:48 And they would, you know, ask T.I. who would, he would want to do a versus against.
00:46:50 --> 00:46:58 And the first name he threw out there and he said i think this would be a great matchup was 50 cents,
00:46:59 --> 00:47:04 so and of course everybody you know he said it and that kind of went viral because
00:47:04 --> 00:47:09 everybody started talking about you know him and 50 going into a versus against
00:47:09 --> 00:47:13 each other and then he said well i wouldn't mind doing it against little wayne
00:47:13 --> 00:47:17 too he said that probably would be a great one between me and Wayne,
00:47:17 --> 00:47:20 but he said Wayne probably wouldn't do it because Wayne always talks about he
00:47:20 --> 00:47:22 wouldn't do a versus, you know.
00:47:23 --> 00:47:31 So that brings up my question for Dave's Corner is, do you think that's a good
00:47:31 --> 00:47:34 matchup, 50 and TI going against each other?
00:47:35 --> 00:47:40 And do you think TI has a chance, or do you think 50 cents has a chance to win?
00:47:40 --> 00:47:47 And then give me a couple of verses who you think would be good matchups,
00:47:47 --> 00:47:56 you know, who you think would be like a really good match based on their catalogs.
00:47:57 --> 00:48:01 So I feel like, to be honest, I feel like T.I. and 50 Cent would not really
00:48:01 --> 00:48:03 be, in my mind, would not be a good matchup.
00:48:03 --> 00:48:08 Just because I feel like their music and their flows are different.
00:48:08 --> 00:48:13 I mean, like, yes, they, you know, they have music around the same time, both pretty popular.
00:48:14 --> 00:48:20 But as far as, you know, something where I think would be a good judgment of
00:48:20 --> 00:48:23 who, whose catalog is better.
00:48:24 --> 00:48:29 I don't i'm i don't know i don't know if i would select them i would probably select,
00:48:30 --> 00:48:33 another and i would i would select jeezy
00:48:33 --> 00:48:39 over 50 cent like if i wanted to put two people together that have a similar
00:48:39 --> 00:48:43 fan because you know i feel like their fan bases are different too so i personally
00:48:43 --> 00:48:51 would not try to schedule that match up so you would put jeezy against ai i mean I guess TI.
00:48:52 --> 00:48:55 Yeah, I mean, I feel like that would be better. You know, they're both from the South.
00:48:56 --> 00:49:02 They both kind of have, you know, I feel like the beats that both of them have are more similar.
00:49:03 --> 00:49:05 I feel like 50 Cent's kind of more like a slow rapper.
00:49:06 --> 00:49:08 You know, TI is like a fast rapper.
00:49:09 --> 00:49:10 That's true. So.
00:49:13 --> 00:49:19 My thoughts on the TI versus 50 Cent. I think 50 Cent would murder him personally.
00:49:20 --> 00:49:23 Because he got a lot of music out there, though.
00:49:24 --> 00:49:26 Yeah, but, you know, does he have a lot of, like, hype? Like,
00:49:27 --> 00:49:29 T.I., and have you heard T.I.? Yeah, I know.
00:49:30 --> 00:49:34 I like his new song. I do like it. Yeah, like, I feel like T.I.'s music is a little hyper.
00:49:34 --> 00:49:38 Like, if you're trying to party, dance, you know, kind of like 50 said,
00:49:38 --> 00:49:40 you know. But 50 got some dance songs out there, man.
00:49:40 --> 00:49:43 He got a couple, but I feel like a lot of his walls are stand on,
00:49:43 --> 00:49:45 you know, stand on the wall, you know.
00:49:45 --> 00:49:48 Like, you know, kind of bumping your car. Yeah, all right.
00:49:49 --> 00:49:52 I don't know. I just think 50 got a little more music, though,
00:49:52 --> 00:49:55 man. I mean, T.I. got some bangers. I ain't gonna lie.
00:49:55 --> 00:50:00 And he's been out there for a minute. You know, I just think that 50...
00:50:01 --> 00:50:06 I think 50 on low-key, low-key has more music. You know what I mean?
00:50:07 --> 00:50:12 I think it's been more radio play, too. He has a lot of radio play stuff.
00:50:12 --> 00:50:15 Then TI does, too, but not like 50 does, I don't think.
00:50:16 --> 00:50:22 So, but I could be wrong. Now, another matchup that I would like to see,
00:50:22 --> 00:50:26 you know, I would like to see Jay-Z and Nas.
00:50:27 --> 00:50:33 I really would like to see that. even though Jay-Z has Nas has a lot of music
00:50:33 --> 00:50:40 but he doesn't have Jay-Z music you know what I mean yeah Jay-Z is like,
00:50:41 --> 00:50:44 Jay-Z has got a lot of music you know and.
00:50:46 --> 00:50:51 He's one of those guys that come out right now and make a song and it go right
00:50:51 --> 00:50:53 to the top 10 oh yeah definitely,
00:50:54 --> 00:51:03 top 5 really I mean you know right away you know so So I watched him on a couple years ago.
00:51:04 --> 00:51:11 It was on a Cypher that they did, what you call them, DJ Khaled did.
00:51:11 --> 00:51:14 And he had Lil Wayne. He had Jay-Z.
00:51:15 --> 00:51:18 He had a couple other guys around there. When Jay-Z did his verse,
00:51:18 --> 00:51:21 man, the whole song just shifted.
00:51:22 --> 00:51:25 And just his flow and his cadence.
00:51:27 --> 00:51:30 But I like Nas, too. Nas has a cadence about him and whatever.
00:51:31 --> 00:51:35 I just don't think Nas has enough music to hang with Jay-Z. Gotcha.
00:51:35 --> 00:51:38 So, but that's my thoughts.
00:51:39 --> 00:51:46 You know, I want to know what other people might think.
00:51:46 --> 00:51:49 I mean, I was thinking, you know, one that I would pay to see is,
00:51:50 --> 00:51:51 I mean, of course it can't happen.
00:51:51 --> 00:51:53 I'd love to see Prince and Michael Jackson.
00:51:55 --> 00:51:59 Yeah that would be a good that would be a good thing to see if it ever happened
00:51:59 --> 00:52:02 you know that would be really good to see so,
00:52:04 --> 00:52:10 but you know I don't know Prince I don't know Prince could hang with Michael I really don't so,
00:52:11 --> 00:52:17 yeah musically he could but I don't know but anyway you guys give us your thoughts
00:52:17 --> 00:52:24 let us know what you're thinking and give us your thoughts on who would be is your dream matchup.
00:52:25 --> 00:52:29 And whether TI and 50 is a good matchup, if it ever happens.
00:52:31 --> 00:52:36 Alright, I guess that's all we got for you tonight. You got anything else you
00:52:36 --> 00:52:38 want to add? Nah, I think that's it.
00:52:40 --> 00:52:45 I believe that's it, Dave. Okay. Another week.
00:52:46 --> 00:52:51 Alright, alright. Well, you know, let's see if we can get through the rest of
00:52:51 --> 00:52:59 this week, everybody in one piece until we get together next week and we'll do this all over again.
00:52:59 --> 00:53:06 Alright guys, continue to have a good breakfast. We'll talk to you later.
00:53:11 --> 00:53:16 Tune in next week, ladies and gentlemen, for another edition of News and Trends
00:53:16 --> 00:53:18 with your hosts, Dave and Lynn.
