00:01:40 --> 00:01:45 Hey, Dave. Everything is good. This is Leonard Young, CEO of National Black
00:01:45 --> 00:01:52 Guide, DelawareBlack.com, Black Media Specialist, all-around good guy. How goes it, Dave?
00:01:53 --> 00:01:57 Man, everything's good on this summer day. I mean, well, it's not even spring
00:01:57 --> 00:01:58 yet. We're still in winter, man.
00:01:58 --> 00:02:04 But, you know, it feels like it's a spring kind of day out there.
00:02:04 --> 00:02:08 It's almost 80 degrees out there today. People out there just having a ball.
00:02:10 --> 00:02:14 So it'll fool around snow tomorrow. I know, right?
00:02:14 --> 00:02:21 Yeah, I know. So this is what they call that fake summer or fake stuff, you know.
00:02:21 --> 00:02:24 So to say, okay, we're going to make them think it's coming,
00:02:24 --> 00:02:26 but it ain't ready yet. It ain't ready yet.
00:02:26 --> 00:02:32 But other than that, man, everything is good. You know, I had to go see the
00:02:32 --> 00:02:34 eye doctor Monday this week.
00:02:35 --> 00:02:40 And they proceeded to tell me, no, that was Friday, proceeded to tell me,
00:02:41 --> 00:02:43 welcome, happy birthday, here.
00:02:43 --> 00:02:46 They gave me a prescription for glasses. I started laughing.
00:02:47 --> 00:02:48 Oh, okay. Now it begins.
00:02:49 --> 00:02:54 You know, bro, bro. Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm not far behind you.
00:02:54 --> 00:03:01 I need to go ahead and schedule my eye doctor appointment because it's about time for my glasses.
00:03:01 --> 00:03:05 In fact, I'm probably about a couple months overdue because I've been knowing
00:03:05 --> 00:03:07 that I need to go get some glasses.
00:03:07 --> 00:03:09 I'll probably try to do that before the end of this month.
00:03:10 --> 00:03:17 I'm just so upset because i've always had 20 20 vision all my life and then i had all them years,
00:03:17 --> 00:03:20 all those years until i had
00:03:20 --> 00:03:23 the you know anyway until i
00:03:23 --> 00:03:27 had that surgery that eye surgery and that's when my eyes like changed you know
00:03:27 --> 00:03:31 i'm still my right eye is still excellent vision so i have excellent vision
00:03:31 --> 00:03:38 in the right eye is the left eye so but i gotta break down and get this script
00:03:38 --> 00:03:40 filled and see what happens.
00:03:41 --> 00:03:47 And, but other than that, everything's good, man. Everything's good. So let me see.
00:03:48 --> 00:03:51 Anything exciting happening on your end or over there?
00:03:51 --> 00:03:55 The only thing, well, yeah, a couple of things. So I did, last week I found
00:03:55 --> 00:03:59 out that my son via, and I can't remember if I said last week,
00:03:59 --> 00:04:01 and he got second team All-State.
00:04:01 --> 00:04:05 Oh, no, we would remember we were talking about whether. Yeah.
00:04:05 --> 00:04:08 Yeah. Yeah. So he did get second team All-State. So he got second team All-State
00:04:08 --> 00:04:12 for his fifth place finish and the 100 butterfly with the 51.33.
00:04:13 --> 00:04:16 So, I mean, that's pretty awesome as a sophomore. Okay. All right,
00:04:16 --> 00:04:17 Quincy. All right. Cool.
00:04:18 --> 00:04:24 Yep. And then last week as well, my daughter's basketball team,
00:04:25 --> 00:04:29 because she's a cheerleader, they won their quarterfinal,
00:04:30 --> 00:04:34 and they actually played tomorrow as their semifinal game playing at the University of Delaware.
00:04:35 --> 00:04:39 I think they played the number one seed, Dover. So, I mean, I'm sure it's going
00:04:39 --> 00:04:43 to be a good game. So, I'm definitely excited to kind of see that.
00:04:43 --> 00:04:46 And it may be her last cheerleading performance.
00:04:46 --> 00:04:52 Oh, okay. So, I guess there's nothing else to cheer for, I guess, huh? Yeah, yeah.
00:04:53 --> 00:04:58 Yeah. So, I mean, of course, if they win tomorrow, then the championships is
00:04:58 --> 00:05:01 at, you know, University of Delaware on Saturday.
00:05:01 --> 00:05:05 Yeah, because I think it was, I know Sanford made it too, right?
00:05:05 --> 00:05:08 I'm not sure. I know Sally's got beat.
00:05:09 --> 00:05:13 They got beat. So I know on the other side is Howard.
00:05:13 --> 00:05:17 Howard plays somebody. I think it's Sanford. Okay.
00:05:18 --> 00:05:22 Yeah. Yeah. Howard beat Sally's. That's right. Yeah. Howard beat Sally's. Yeah.
00:05:23 --> 00:05:27 Yeah. Yeah. I think that's who it was. Sanford that they played.
00:05:27 --> 00:05:31 But okay. All right. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool.
00:05:31 --> 00:05:36 So is she excited about this? Yeah, yeah. I mean, I think so.
00:05:36 --> 00:05:40 I mean, you know, I think it's one thing where you don't realize the significance
00:05:40 --> 00:05:46 because this, well, any of these next cheerleading performances could be her
00:05:46 --> 00:05:48 last. Saturday would definitely be her last.
00:05:49 --> 00:05:53 So, you know, I think she's excited. But, you know, at the same time,
00:05:53 --> 00:05:57 these kids, you know, I feel like they don't care about stuff like we care about it.
00:05:58 --> 00:06:01 So, you know, at the end of the day, she's like, oh, well. And I'm like, okay.
00:06:01 --> 00:06:04 Because, you know, I feel like 30 years from now, you got to look back and be
00:06:04 --> 00:06:08 like, yeah, I remember the last time I cheerleaded and, you know,
00:06:08 --> 00:06:11 do you remember your last college football game?
00:06:12 --> 00:06:15 Not really. Oh. No. Never mind.
00:06:16 --> 00:06:21 No, no, not really. To be honest with you, it's not nothing to think too much about.
00:06:22 --> 00:06:28 I'm sitting here looking at who's, I just went to see who. Lineup? Yeah.
00:06:29 --> 00:06:33 So it's Dover versus St. George's. Oh, Howard versus William Penn.
00:06:34 --> 00:06:37 Oh, wow. Yeah, because, you know, William Penn beat Sally's,
00:06:38 --> 00:06:39 I think. I think they were the ones that beat them.
00:06:39 --> 00:06:43 Yeah, William Penn beat Sally's. Okay. Yeah. Okay.
00:06:43 --> 00:06:45 And St. George's B. Caraville.
00:06:48 --> 00:06:53 Was that a little family squabble there? No, because, you know, my son here in care.
00:06:53 --> 00:06:58 And then, you know, that was Saturday and we had to do that event at the campground.
00:06:58 --> 00:07:02 So I missed that one. Okay. All right. Okay.
00:07:02 --> 00:07:04 How'd that event go? Was that a good event?
00:07:05 --> 00:07:06 Yeah. Oh, it was a day.
00:07:08 --> 00:07:11 That thing was packed. I'll just put it like that. Okay. Well,
00:07:11 --> 00:07:15 that's a good event. In every sense of the word, it was packed.
00:07:15 --> 00:07:18 Okay. I'm sure. I'm sure. Okay. All right.
00:07:19 --> 00:07:24 All right. Well, sounds like some exciting times and the weather's a great break.
00:07:24 --> 00:07:29 So I guess everybody should be, you know, I guess we got some things because
00:07:29 --> 00:07:31 there's some big things coming up.
00:07:31 --> 00:07:34 I know we got the Black Music Festival coming up in June, right?
00:07:35 --> 00:07:37 So you guys better be on the lookout for that.
00:07:39 --> 00:07:42 Seemed like there was something else coming up, too. I can't remember.
00:07:43 --> 00:07:45 You guys doing June Jam this year, too?
00:07:46 --> 00:07:50 Yeah. I think it's Father's Day weekend, I believe.
00:07:50 --> 00:07:56 Yeah. Okay. All right. Okay. All right. Well, we'll be on the lookout for that.
00:07:57 --> 00:08:02 I guess we have a couple stories that we want to talk about tonight.
00:08:02 --> 00:08:04 So we'll go ahead and get into those.
00:08:05 --> 00:08:08 See what the world has for us today. Okay.
00:08:10 --> 00:08:14 This is a sad story. I saw this, and I wasn't going to say anything about it,
00:08:14 --> 00:08:16 but I just felt compelled to say something.
00:08:17 --> 00:08:23 12-year-old Jada West dies after a bus stop fight in Georgia.
00:08:24 --> 00:08:26 Family says she was bullied.
00:08:27 --> 00:08:33 A community is grieving after a 12-year-old Jada West died following a reported
00:08:33 --> 00:08:39 fight with another student on a school bus on March 5th.
00:08:39 --> 00:08:44 West, a student at Mason Creek Middle School, collapsed near her home after
00:08:44 --> 00:08:45 getting off the bus from the school.
00:08:46 --> 00:08:54 Cell phone video footage shows the 12-year-old getting into an altercation with
00:08:54 --> 00:08:59 a group of girls on the street during which she took a hard fall.
00:09:00 --> 00:09:05 However, as she was walking away from the fight, she ultimately collapsed.
00:09:05 --> 00:09:11 I got in the car and drove up there, and she was on the ground.
00:09:11 --> 00:09:18 She wasn't breathing, Rashonda McClendon, West Mother, told WSB-TV in Atlanta,
00:09:19 --> 00:09:24 recalling one of her daughter's friends running to get her when it happened.
00:09:25 --> 00:09:31 The preteen was rushed to Tanner Medical Center, where her mother says she began seizing.
00:09:33 --> 00:09:37 She was later transferred to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital,
00:09:37 --> 00:09:42 where she fell into a coma and ultimately took her last breath.
00:09:43 --> 00:09:47 I don't understand. And she was on the ground.
00:09:48 --> 00:09:51 She wasn't breathing, West's mother told Fox Atlanta.
00:09:52 --> 00:09:57 So angry. We have to teach our children to love. According to West's family,
00:09:57 --> 00:10:04 the preteen had experienced bullying and only started attending Mason Creek
00:10:04 --> 00:10:06 Middle School in January.
00:10:07 --> 00:10:13 Now, our loved ones are seeking answers as they await results from the autopsy
00:10:13 --> 00:10:19 and Villa Rica Police Department's investigation.
00:10:19 --> 00:10:25 Nobody tried to stop it. No one tried to call the police and stop it.
00:10:26 --> 00:10:30 McKennden stressed it was to WSB TV
00:10:30 --> 00:10:37 it's gotta stop it must stop violence has to stop and it's not right that this
00:10:37 --> 00:10:42 little girl and the other kids that this little girl and the other kids get
00:10:42 --> 00:10:49 to go to school my niece is not here anymore my niece was in the hospital with her tube in her throat,
00:10:51 --> 00:10:58 any situation that results in harm to a child is one we take seriously with
00:10:58 --> 00:11:00 the highest level of urgency.
00:11:01 --> 00:11:05 The DCSS wrote,
00:11:06 --> 00:11:13 this incident did not occur on school property or during school hours and there
00:11:13 --> 00:11:17 is nothing to indicate that it's related to any of the campus activity.
00:11:18 --> 00:11:22 Therefore, this matter is under the jurisdiction of the police department.
00:11:23 --> 00:11:24 I'm going to stop there.
00:11:27 --> 00:11:33 Bullying is one of the oldest things that we can think about when it comes to
00:11:33 --> 00:11:37 intimidation, forcing people to do things they don't want to do.
00:11:37 --> 00:11:41 This goes back to my childhood. I know your childhood.
00:11:42 --> 00:11:44 You know, our presidency.
00:11:46 --> 00:11:50 Okay, I didn't mean to say that out loud. I'm sorry. But there's a lot of bullying
00:11:50 --> 00:11:52 going on in the world today.
00:11:52 --> 00:11:59 When you have And you have kids that are in school still Have you ever had Your
00:11:59 --> 00:12:06 kids say Anything to you about being bullied No Okay Do you think they would tell you,
00:12:07 --> 00:12:15 I think they would maybe tell me if I happened to ask them and it was escalated to a certain point.
00:12:17 --> 00:12:22 You know, a lot of times children are scared to say anything because they don't
00:12:22 --> 00:12:24 want to deal with the repercussions.
00:12:26 --> 00:12:33 Or the retaliation that may come from saying something because it gets out.
00:12:33 --> 00:12:37 And that's where a lot of mistakes are made because they don't say anything.
00:12:38 --> 00:12:41 These days these kids are different man it's a
00:12:41 --> 00:12:45 whole different world out here today you know back back
00:12:45 --> 00:12:51 when i was coming up you know you fought if somebody was bullying you either
00:12:51 --> 00:12:57 had the man up or a woman up and you had to deal with what was coming your way
00:12:57 --> 00:13:02 and then hopefully if you showed and a lot of times when i was coming up if
00:13:02 --> 00:13:04 you show that you were tough you You would,
00:13:04 --> 00:13:09 you know, even if you got beat up, you got respected because you stood up.
00:13:10 --> 00:13:14 And this guy, I think most bullies don't want somebody who fights back.
00:13:14 --> 00:13:18 No, they don't. They don't. You know, even if you get beat up,
00:13:18 --> 00:13:22 but you got to punch in or you cause them to look crazy.
00:13:23 --> 00:13:29 Yeah, yeah. And but see, this bullying that goes on today, because they don't
00:13:29 --> 00:13:32 just do it in front of your face. They go to social media.
00:13:33 --> 00:13:41 Right. They, you know, they, they, you know, it's, it's a whole different, different thing now.
00:13:41 --> 00:13:46 And, you know, you got people, you got people, you know, these kids have so
00:13:46 --> 00:13:52 many, many issues mentally these days because of all the pressures they have
00:13:52 --> 00:13:55 as far as being children or trying to be children.
00:13:56 --> 00:13:59 And it's, it's really sad. It really is, you know.
00:14:00 --> 00:14:08 I'm i'm coming i'm coming home and i it's a bridge i go over sometime coming this way and,
00:14:09 --> 00:14:13 see this young kid walking this was yesterday and
00:14:13 --> 00:14:17 he's stopping on the bridge and he's looking over the edge of the bridge and
00:14:17 --> 00:14:20 automatically you know i'm thinking about something please tell me this kid
00:14:20 --> 00:14:23 i get rid of something stupid and jump off and hit this thing because that's
00:14:23 --> 00:14:28 the way it looked you know but i was going in the opposite direction then you
00:14:28 --> 00:14:32 know and i'm looking in my rearview mirror for as long as I could looking at the kid,
00:14:32 --> 00:14:35 but it looked like he was just bending over and looking, you know.
00:14:35 --> 00:14:40 But it, you know, it's sad that I was even thinking that he would jump.
00:14:41 --> 00:14:45 Right. But that's what we hear so much about nowadays, and that we hear a lot
00:14:45 --> 00:14:51 of people talking about the type of issues that the kids are having and so forth.
00:14:52 --> 00:14:57 I mean, what's your thoughts about the story, you know, this 12-year-old girl
00:14:57 --> 00:15:02 gets into an altercation on the bus with somebody and ends up dying.
00:15:04 --> 00:15:10 And they got these young kids, you know, who got in the altercation with her.
00:15:10 --> 00:15:12 I mean, what happens now?
00:15:13 --> 00:15:17 Yeah, I mean, I definitely think it's unfortunate. And, you know,
00:15:17 --> 00:15:19 I think it just goes to one of those things where, and, you know,
00:15:20 --> 00:15:24 Dave, even us at our age, we never know what people are going through.
00:15:24 --> 00:15:28 And I'm not just talking about emotionally, but medically, you know,
00:15:28 --> 00:15:30 so it's kind of like, you know, thing,
00:15:31 --> 00:15:34 you know, I even see some of these people doing pranks on people,
00:15:34 --> 00:15:39 you know, I mean, I'm, I'm sure there's somebody you can probably scare them.
00:15:39 --> 00:15:41 They probably have a heart attack, scare them.
00:15:41 --> 00:15:45 They fall down, but this situation is sad.
00:15:45 --> 00:15:50 And, you know, I think bullying, to be honest, it's probably always been a problem
00:15:50 --> 00:15:54 or an issue for somebody of every generation.
00:15:55 --> 00:15:58 And Dave, you know, like we talk about kids, but I'm sure there's there's,
00:15:59 --> 00:16:03 There's adults who are getting bullied, too, you know, maybe by their family,
00:16:03 --> 00:16:08 maybe at work, maybe in like college, you know, all that.
00:16:08 --> 00:16:11 So I definitely think it's very important.
00:16:12 --> 00:16:19 And and I agree. You can't always you know, you can't always fight every single bully.
00:16:19 --> 00:16:23 But, you know, hopefully those people who are going through issues can have
00:16:23 --> 00:16:29 somebody to, you know, kind of turn to, talk to, you know, speak to that maybe
00:16:29 --> 00:16:32 can help them resolve the situation or feel better about it.
00:16:34 --> 00:16:40 My thing is this, you know, especially when it comes to the kids in school.
00:16:40 --> 00:16:44 I mean, okay, you got kids in school. So let me ask you this.
00:16:46 --> 00:16:51 Do your kids talk anything, I mean, much about their teachers?
00:16:51 --> 00:16:53 I mean, is there feelings on,
00:16:55 --> 00:17:01 The teachers that they have, do they feel they're good? Do they feel they control their environment?
00:17:02 --> 00:17:06 Do they talk about any of that stuff? No. Okay.
00:17:07 --> 00:17:13 And when you say control the environment, do you mean kind of like their classroom man keeps? Yeah.
00:17:15 --> 00:17:18 Well, you know, I think so my son, of course, he go to private school.
00:17:18 --> 00:17:21 So, you know, that way, they're the total different thing.
00:17:21 --> 00:17:24 My daughter i mean she's
00:17:24 --> 00:17:27 never mentioned it i'm you know i mean she said there's people i mean
00:17:27 --> 00:17:30 any school there's people who act up people get kicked out
00:17:30 --> 00:17:34 of class but she doesn't specifically mention
00:17:34 --> 00:17:40 about people getting bullied so to be honest i'm not really like it almost makes
00:17:40 --> 00:17:44 me want to ask her maybe i ask her you know when i see her like hey are there
00:17:44 --> 00:17:47 some kids in your school get bullied like how like what what's happening are
00:17:47 --> 00:17:50 they getting bullied on social media are they getting bullied in school?
00:17:51 --> 00:17:55 And, you know, how does the administration try to stop it or rectify?
00:17:55 --> 00:17:59 Because, you know, most people feel it's never an issue until it goes too far.
00:17:59 --> 00:18:04 And just like the story you mentioned, someone dies and now it's a big issue.
00:18:04 --> 00:18:06 That's a big story. Yeah.
00:18:06 --> 00:18:09 Because I'm sure they're going back to that bus driver like,
00:18:09 --> 00:18:11 hey, like how long have you noticed this?
00:18:12 --> 00:18:15 You know, and the bus driver probably has noticed it
00:18:15 --> 00:18:18 on a daily basis yeah because now you know
00:18:18 --> 00:18:24 basically everybody that was on that bus you know now they they're they're like
00:18:24 --> 00:18:29 suspects yeah yeah you know and what did you do and what didn't you do and all
00:18:29 --> 00:18:33 of this kind of stuff and the bus driver i mean just think about the bus driver
00:18:33 --> 00:18:38 i'm sure there was probably an aide on the bus too you know so you know i.
00:18:39 --> 00:18:43 You know, it's funny. I was listening to you talk just then about maybe you
00:18:43 --> 00:18:45 said maybe I'll ask, you know.
00:18:45 --> 00:18:51 And see, this is where the parents of today are different from the parents of yesterday.
00:18:52 --> 00:18:56 Like, my mother used to ask me and my sister almost every day,
00:18:56 --> 00:18:58 how was school? What happened in school?
00:18:59 --> 00:19:03 You know, how did things go in this class or how did things go in that class?
00:19:03 --> 00:19:06 Even when I got into high school, she would still ask those questions,
00:19:06 --> 00:19:10 you know. So, you know, let's see, the difference with...
00:19:11 --> 00:19:16 Back then versus now, you know, corporal punishment was still there.
00:19:16 --> 00:19:20 And we had teachers that we absolutely, there was two things that,
00:19:21 --> 00:19:25 well, three things that went along with your teachers.
00:19:26 --> 00:19:33 Either you absolutely loved the teacher, you hated them, or you feared them.
00:19:33 --> 00:19:37 Right. You know, and you had to do it. And that's what it was back then.
00:19:37 --> 00:19:42 But the men, and plus there were, keep in mind, we had a lot more male teachers
00:19:42 --> 00:19:50 than they do now, you know, and, you know, and, you know, we didn't have half as many as,
00:19:51 --> 00:19:53 well, I'm not, I'll keep that in my head.
00:19:53 --> 00:20:01 But anyway, but, you know, but there's a shortage of men, teachers,
00:20:01 --> 00:20:06 and I've heard that from students, from parents at school.
00:20:06 --> 00:20:09 And when you go into the schools, you don't, the parents aren't as,
00:20:10 --> 00:20:13 and, you know, I hate to say this because I know you're a parent too,
00:20:13 --> 00:20:15 but the parents aren't as involved.
00:20:15 --> 00:20:19 Man, there was always parents at the schools that I went to,
00:20:19 --> 00:20:22 always. You know, they weren't helping out.
00:20:23 --> 00:20:28 They were volunteering to do stuff. The PTA stuff was really big back then.
00:20:28 --> 00:20:30 And it's just not like that anymore.
00:20:31 --> 00:20:36 Well, at some schools, I guess they still have a big PTA, but it ain't our schools.
00:20:37 --> 00:20:42 You know what I'm saying? So, and then when stuff like this happened,
00:20:42 --> 00:20:44 of course, everybody's up in arms about it.
00:20:44 --> 00:20:50 But, you know, we don't have the conversations with our kids that we need to
00:20:50 --> 00:20:54 have in order to know what's going on with them.
00:20:54 --> 00:20:56 And just like what you just said, that's probably something,
00:20:57 --> 00:21:01 Leonard, you know, that you probably should do is start asking those kind of
00:21:01 --> 00:21:05 questions and find out, you know, what's going on.
00:21:05 --> 00:21:07 And I don't think enough parents do that anymore.
00:21:09 --> 00:21:16 You know, so it's really sad about Jada and her situation and, you know,
00:21:17 --> 00:21:23 no matter what goes on as far as, you know, who was wrong or this goes to court
00:21:23 --> 00:21:26 or whatever the case may be, you're not going to be able to bring Jada back.
00:21:26 --> 00:21:30 And it's really a shame because that didn't have to happen, you know,
00:21:31 --> 00:21:36 and, you know, and just that little statement that the school said in reference
00:21:36 --> 00:21:38 to the school district there.
00:21:41 --> 00:21:45 I don't like the fact that they said, well, this incident did not occur on school
00:21:45 --> 00:21:47 property or on school hours.
00:21:47 --> 00:21:52 Okay, did you have to put that out there? Right.
00:21:53 --> 00:21:55 Because it almost sounds like you're washing your hands of it,
00:21:56 --> 00:21:59 you know, because you don't have any fault.
00:21:59 --> 00:22:07 Well, the fault is what happened on that bus is still tied to the school in
00:22:07 --> 00:22:09 some type of way because those are your students.
00:22:10 --> 00:22:15 So let's hope that there's some type of justice done here.
00:22:15 --> 00:22:22 And, you know, of course, I don't think the young ladies or whoever caused this
00:22:22 --> 00:22:26 to happen, meant for it to happen. Of course, it's an unfortunate thing.
00:22:27 --> 00:22:30 And it sounds like she hit her head at some point. That's what it sounds like.
00:22:31 --> 00:22:37 But they need to talk about it and they need to figure out what happened.
00:22:37 --> 00:22:40 And what to do going forward, you know?
00:22:41 --> 00:22:43 So, really a shame.
00:22:44 --> 00:22:46 Anyway, moving on.
00:22:48 --> 00:22:53 Study links processed meat and sugary drinks to serious health risks.
00:22:53 --> 00:22:56 We've been hearing this for years, of course, right? Yeah.
00:22:57 --> 00:23:00 Yeah, I mean, we already know this. Yeah, we already know this,
00:23:00 --> 00:23:03 but yet they keep giving it to us, right? And we keep buying it.
00:23:04 --> 00:23:10 A comprehensive study published in The Nature Medicine has raised alarms about
00:23:10 --> 00:23:14 the health impacts of processed meats and sugary beverages.
00:23:14 --> 00:23:21 Data from over 60 studies involving millions of participants found that even
00:23:21 --> 00:23:28 small daily servings of these foods significantly elevates the risk of chronic diseases.
00:23:29 --> 00:23:36 Processed meats like bacon and hot dogs, often preserved with nitrates,
00:23:36 --> 00:23:42 were linked to 11% higher risk of type 2 diabetes. please.
00:23:43 --> 00:23:47 It's funny, that's the last two things that you really hear about when it comes
00:23:47 --> 00:23:51 to that, bacon and hot dogs.
00:23:52 --> 00:23:58 And a 7% increase in clorectal cancer risk.
00:23:59 --> 00:24:04 Habitual consumption of even small amounts of processed meat,
00:24:04 --> 00:24:10 sugary drinks, and trans fatty acids is linked to increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
00:24:10 --> 00:24:19 Heart disease and colorectal cancer, said lead author Dr.
00:24:20 --> 00:24:23 Demiwatz Hale, per CNN.
00:24:24 --> 00:24:29 Prevention reports that sugary drinks, including sodas and sweetened coffees,
00:24:29 --> 00:24:34 often pose serious health risks, including death.
00:24:35 --> 00:24:44 Consumption, roughly a 12-ounce soda daily, was associated with an 8% increase
00:24:44 --> 00:24:50 of type 2 diabetes and a 2% higher chance of heart disease.
00:24:50 --> 00:24:57 Trans fats found in some processed foods showed a 3% increase in risk of heart disease.
00:24:57 --> 00:25:03 These findings highlight how preservatives such as nitrates in meats and excessive
00:25:03 --> 00:25:09 sugars in drinks contribute to inflammation and metabolic issues.
00:25:10 --> 00:25:15 While studies' results are compelling, some experts say.
00:25:17 --> 00:25:23 Urge caution. The headlines are alarming, but the actual results are more nuanced,
00:25:23 --> 00:25:30 said Teresa Gentile, who's with Honest. She said this to the Real Simple reports.
00:25:30 --> 00:25:34 She notes that occasional consumption may not warrant panic,
00:25:34 --> 00:25:38 but habitual intake amplifies risk.
00:25:38 --> 00:25:44 The research also points to lifestyle factors like smoking or limited health
00:25:44 --> 00:25:49 care access are potential contributors to such health outcomes.
00:25:49 --> 00:25:56 The research does not statistically significant links, does find statistically
00:25:56 --> 00:26:00 significant links between eating processed meats,
00:26:00 --> 00:26:07 drinking sugary sweetened beverages, and develop conditions like type 2 diabetes.
00:26:08 --> 00:26:12 So what they're basically saying, you know, well, of course,
00:26:12 --> 00:26:18 we've been hearing this kind of stuff for years, but if all of this is really going on,
00:26:18 --> 00:26:22 which I'm sure it is in some cases, but basically it seems like everything we
00:26:22 --> 00:26:26 do anymore leads to all of these things they're talking about.
00:26:27 --> 00:26:31 Why is this still on the shelves? Why is it still accessible?
00:26:31 --> 00:26:33 Why is it still out there for us to purchase?
00:26:34 --> 00:26:39 I think we already know because they make money. And that's what it's all about. It's the money.
00:26:39 --> 00:26:42 And they know that we can't give it up.
00:26:43 --> 00:26:50 They tell us so much stuff that's bad for us. I mean, McDonald's. You know?
00:26:51 --> 00:26:54 Burger King. And Dave, I was at Burger King twice last week.
00:26:54 --> 00:26:56 So, I mean, it's like, what do we do?
00:26:58 --> 00:27:02 Yeah, I know. It's funny. Yeah, they tell you about all of these things and
00:27:02 --> 00:27:05 they tell you what not to eat and all of this stuff.
00:27:06 --> 00:27:11 But even, you know, one of the things when Tick-fil-A first came around,
00:27:12 --> 00:27:16 you know, Tick-fil-A was perfect because it was saying, hey,
00:27:17 --> 00:27:20 get away from the processed meats like the hamburgers.
00:27:20 --> 00:27:25 And, you know, and of course they were pointing a lot towards McDonald's and
00:27:25 --> 00:27:28 said, come over here, eat chicken, it's healthier for you.
00:27:28 --> 00:27:32 But even now, you know, what was it, last year or the year before that they
00:27:32 --> 00:27:35 said that Chick-fil-A is now,
00:27:36 --> 00:27:41 you know, they used to not inject their chicken now they do, you know.
00:27:41 --> 00:27:48 And, you know, so even, you know, even a place like that who has always strived
00:27:48 --> 00:27:51 on being more healthy than some of the other fast food places.
00:27:52 --> 00:27:59 Even had to go with the flow, you know, because obviously it's all about the
00:27:59 --> 00:28:02 money that you can make and the best way to make it.
00:28:05 --> 00:28:08 Candy, sodas are never going anywhere. Juices are never going anywhere.
00:28:09 --> 00:28:13 You know, now you got some of these coffee places like Starbucks and these type
00:28:13 --> 00:28:17 of places. Now some of them are closing, you know, whatever the case might be.
00:28:17 --> 00:28:21 But these people are serious about that business. I just love,
00:28:21 --> 00:28:27 I used to walk into Starbucks just to hear people order their stuff and how
00:28:27 --> 00:28:30 passionate they were, you know,
00:28:30 --> 00:28:35 if they don't mess up, don't mess the drink up because you got to do it over again.
00:28:36 --> 00:28:39 The barista will get an earful, you know, so.
00:28:40 --> 00:28:45 But this is the world we're in. You know, a lot, you know, we look at our kids.
00:28:45 --> 00:28:49 A lot of kids are overweight, obese, you know.
00:28:49 --> 00:28:55 So you got some kids who are just born who can't, you know, after a year,
00:28:55 --> 00:28:58 they can't stand up because they've gotten so big, you know,
00:28:59 --> 00:29:01 because of the food that's being put into them.
00:29:01 --> 00:29:08 A lot of parents will not go the full course when it comes to formula and stuff
00:29:08 --> 00:29:11 like that or breastfeeding or whatever.
00:29:11 --> 00:29:14 They'll start giving them food before they're supposed to eat,
00:29:14 --> 00:29:17 you know, give them regular food before they're supposed to have it.
00:29:17 --> 00:29:20 And, you know, a lot of parents won't even do baby food anymore, you know.
00:29:20 --> 00:29:24 So it's a lot going on out there as far as the food's concerned.
00:29:24 --> 00:29:30 But then you go vegan or you go to some of the food that are non,
00:29:30 --> 00:29:32 you know, the non-meats and so forth and so forth.
00:29:32 --> 00:29:35 But they even talk about some of those things because of some of the things
00:29:35 --> 00:29:39 they have in them, you know, to try to give you the necessary nutrients that
00:29:39 --> 00:29:44 your body needs in order to be fulfilled from eating, you know.
00:29:46 --> 00:29:47 So it's kind of a catch-22.
00:29:48 --> 00:29:54 I know there's a lady that I know, she was talking about her mother, lived to be 105.
00:29:55 --> 00:30:03 She passed away. But almost everything, her mother had Reese's cups every day.
00:30:04 --> 00:30:08 And that was something that she had to have. She would always have to have a
00:30:08 --> 00:30:12 Reese's cup before she went to bed with a shot of liquor.
00:30:15 --> 00:30:21 And that was her thing. But what you going to tell somebody that lives to be
00:30:21 --> 00:30:25 105 years old, don't do that because it's going to kill you?
00:30:25 --> 00:30:27 Right. You know, so...
00:30:28 --> 00:30:32 So these kind of reports we hear about all the time. And, and of course,
00:30:32 --> 00:30:35 yeah, it could be true in some cases. I mean, with excessive,
00:30:35 --> 00:30:40 you've got people drinking five, six sodas a day. Oh yeah. They, that's a problem.
00:30:40 --> 00:30:47 You know, I know even with myself, I got to, you know, always had a thing for Greek and orange soda.
00:30:47 --> 00:30:51 I had to learn, Hey, I can't drink this stuff every day. Right.
00:30:52 --> 00:30:56 So now I've gotten way, way, way, way back on the soda thing.
00:30:57 --> 00:31:03 Probably have maybe four sodas a month now. And that's probably...
00:31:03 --> 00:31:10 And if I get one, I may not finish the whole thing. And I try not to... Or I might not...
00:31:11 --> 00:31:16 If I drink one, I'm going to drink like two bottles of water afterwards. Try to get rid of it.
00:31:17 --> 00:31:20 Sometimes you want something other than water, though. You need something that
00:31:20 --> 00:31:22 has some taste to it. Yeah, I agree with that.
00:31:23 --> 00:31:27 Yeah, so... It's much water. But this is where we are.
00:31:27 --> 00:31:32 I mean, anything you can think to add to this as far as this report goes?
00:31:32 --> 00:31:36 No, I mean, I feel like it's the same old story. You know, it's just all about
00:31:36 --> 00:31:40 choices. And, you know, we just probably will keep choosing what we choose.
00:31:42 --> 00:31:46 And that's basically where we are. That's what we've always done.
00:31:46 --> 00:31:48 And that's what we're going to continue to do, I guess.
00:31:50 --> 00:31:53 But people, just be careful. Just be mindful. I mean, you know,
00:31:54 --> 00:31:57 we can sit here and tell you about what they're saying, but of course you got
00:31:57 --> 00:32:01 to do your research and you got to understand it's up to you what you put in your body.
00:32:01 --> 00:32:05 It's up to you how you treat your body. So just make sure you're,
00:32:05 --> 00:32:11 you're doing the best or doing the most for what you need in order to survive.
00:32:12 --> 00:32:15 So let's keep that in and, and, you know, talk to your doctors,
00:32:16 --> 00:32:19 you know, that's, that's, that's important.
00:32:19 --> 00:32:21 Talk to your doctors. So.
00:32:22 --> 00:32:25 All right, let's go ahead and move on to the next story.
00:32:26 --> 00:32:28 Yep. So the next one, I thought this one was pretty interesting.
00:32:28 --> 00:32:34 I saw it and you know how you see those stories and you just got to click on them to find out more.
00:32:34 --> 00:32:41 So the title was Obnoxious American Airlines Passenger Has Melted Down as She's
00:32:41 --> 00:32:47 Kicked Off a Plane for Playing Videos on Her Loudspeaker.
00:32:47 --> 00:32:54 And, of course, anyone who has flown before can relate to that one person who's
00:32:54 --> 00:33:00 either talking loud on their phone, on speakerphone, or listening to music.
00:33:01 --> 00:33:06 You know, loud without having a headset. So according to this story,
00:33:06 --> 00:33:15 this happened February 26th, and the lady, as she was getting taken off the flight, was yelling,
00:33:16 --> 00:33:19 I played a video for effing 30
00:33:19 --> 00:33:25 seconds at 50% sound, and that's the effing reason you're kicking me off?
00:33:26 --> 00:33:30 And of course, the flight attendant at a time was telling her to calm down.
00:33:30 --> 00:33:34 And basically, she kind of had a meltdown, you know, on the plane.
00:33:35 --> 00:33:37 And they have a picture of her. She looked kind of like an Indian woman,
00:33:38 --> 00:33:41 East, well, you know, East Indian woman.
00:33:41 --> 00:33:45 But she got escorted off the plane. But, you know, it's always so funny because
00:33:45 --> 00:33:48 this just reminds me of all the people who kind of have no.
00:33:49 --> 00:33:52 Self-awareness for how loud they're talking or
00:33:52 --> 00:33:55 how loud their music is or listening to
00:33:55 --> 00:33:58 movies on the plane have you
00:33:58 --> 00:34:01 ever been in a situation on a plane or one of
00:34:01 --> 00:34:05 these quiet spaces where somebody is just extra loud and everyone else is just
00:34:05 --> 00:34:11 kind of looking at them not recently because i have to be honest with you i
00:34:11 --> 00:34:14 haven't been on a plane in a minute you know kind of think of it but i know
00:34:14 --> 00:34:20 i've been on a train and i've heard people play their computers you know loudly and stuff like that.
00:34:20 --> 00:34:26 And I'm not an earphone person, but I do have enough respect that if I know
00:34:26 --> 00:34:31 I'm on a train and I'm sitting near somebody or next to somebody,
00:34:31 --> 00:34:33 I'm going to put earphones on. Right.
00:34:35 --> 00:34:39 I'm not going to just play what I'm listening to out loud.
00:34:42 --> 00:34:44 Excuse me. Sorry about that, folks.
00:34:45 --> 00:34:50 I'm not going to play what I, what I, out loud unless I'm sharing with that person next to me.
00:34:50 --> 00:34:53 You know, they're watching it with me or whatever the case may be.
00:34:53 --> 00:34:58 And even still, you still have to be cognizant of the people around you. Right now.
00:34:59 --> 00:35:05 But people just seem not to care anymore. I, you know, I was in,
00:35:05 --> 00:35:10 I was in a store the other day and guy walked past me and he was playing,
00:35:10 --> 00:35:12 he was playing rap music.
00:35:12 --> 00:35:15 And, and of course, every other word was a cuss word. And I was like,
00:35:16 --> 00:35:19 and he's walking through the store and he's bopping his head the whole time.
00:35:19 --> 00:35:23 And I'm just like, you know, you're not the only person that hears that,
00:35:23 --> 00:35:29 you know, or it was just like when you're on the street and you pull up to a light or something.
00:35:29 --> 00:35:34 And this person pulls up to you and they got their subwoofers and everything
00:35:34 --> 00:35:38 just blasting at the top that they can and every, and of course,
00:35:38 --> 00:35:42 you know, usually when you hear that, it's usually a rap song and everybody's, you know,
00:35:43 --> 00:35:45 the person's cussing up a storm or whatever.
00:35:45 --> 00:35:51 And, you know, and if you say something, normally that's going to cause an issue,
00:35:51 --> 00:35:55 you know, so this is the world we're in, man.
00:35:55 --> 00:35:58 I mean, a lot of times people will melt down over the whole thing.
00:35:58 --> 00:36:02 You know So he's saying 30 seconds But 30 seconds.
00:36:03 --> 00:36:07 That's a long time for some people to hear a bunch of noise. Right.
00:36:08 --> 00:36:11 So if nobody had said anything, she would have just kept doing it.
00:36:11 --> 00:36:15 So it would have been for more than 30 seconds, and she probably wasn't going to stop.
00:36:15 --> 00:36:20 That's just like playing Mario Kart, and you hear that Mario music in the background.
00:36:20 --> 00:36:24 It starts to put you in like a trance after a period of time,
00:36:24 --> 00:36:27 because you just keep hearing it and hearing it and hearing it.
00:36:27 --> 00:36:29 Then you'd be like, would somebody shut that thing off?
00:36:29 --> 00:36:33 I remember my kids used to play Mario all the time. I mean, as much as I like
00:36:33 --> 00:36:36 Mario, there was times I didn't want to hear Mario, you know,
00:36:37 --> 00:36:40 so, you know, so, but this is where we are.
00:36:41 --> 00:36:45 People don't seem to care, Leonard. They really don't. Yeah, they don't. Very weird.
00:36:46 --> 00:36:50 It's very weird. And then they dare you to say anything.
00:36:50 --> 00:36:55 And then, you know, you have somebody like this that will have the meltdown and go ballistic.
00:36:55 --> 00:36:59 And a lot of times you have to be careful because, you know,
00:37:00 --> 00:37:04 if it's the right person and you say something to them, you're probably the
00:37:04 --> 00:37:05 one that's going to get in trouble.
00:37:06 --> 00:37:09 If you follow what I'm saying. Yeah. That's right.
00:37:11 --> 00:37:14 Well, did anything happen with her once they put her off?
00:37:15 --> 00:37:19 So it doesn't specifically say, but the police came and took her off.
00:37:20 --> 00:37:24 And they arrested her? So it doesn't actually say arrest, but it says the police,
00:37:24 --> 00:37:31 say the flight attendant had asked her before they even left the gate about the volume.
00:37:32 --> 00:37:35 And she got an attitude, started cursing at the passengers and employees.
00:37:37 --> 00:37:42 Yeah, I mean, that's all that's all it says. It says under American Airlines revised rules.
00:37:43 --> 00:37:48 Anyone who plays sound from a phone, tablet or laptop without headphones could
00:37:48 --> 00:37:53 be removed from the aircraft and barred from flying again with the airline.
00:37:53 --> 00:37:57 So I guess they were trying to set that example.
00:37:59 --> 00:38:06 I wonder if she got her money back and all that stuff or did it sound another
00:38:06 --> 00:38:09 flight for her to get on I don't know I guess we'll see,
00:38:11 --> 00:38:20 alright people respect the people next to you that's all we need to say we know
00:38:20 --> 00:38:23 you won't but we just figured we'd put it out there so,
00:38:24 --> 00:38:27 next story I heard about this.
00:38:27 --> 00:38:30 I was watching something on TV and they mentioned this.
00:38:32 --> 00:38:37 So this seems like a strange story. Have you heard anything about this Aaron Hall thing?
00:38:37 --> 00:38:41 I heard he kind of fled the country, but that was about it. Yeah, yeah.
00:38:42 --> 00:38:49 So for those who don't know, Aaron Hall is still missing as a civil assault
00:38:49 --> 00:38:52 case moves forward. Wow.
00:38:53 --> 00:39:00 R&B singer Aaron Hall, who has not been located as of early 2026,
00:39:00 --> 00:39:02 according to recent court filings,
00:39:02 --> 00:39:07 Hall known for hits like I Miss You as a member of the group Guy,
00:39:07 --> 00:39:13 is named in a civil lawsuit filed in late 2023.
00:39:13 --> 00:39:20 The suit brought by Liza Gardner, also named Sean Diddy Combs.
00:39:22 --> 00:39:26 And accuses both men of sexual assault in 1991.
00:39:27 --> 00:39:32 Legal team describes extensive and diligent search efforts.
00:39:32 --> 00:39:40 Since mid-2024, multiple process servers and skip traces have attempted to locate Hall.
00:39:40 --> 00:39:50 They checked known addresses in California, Tarzana View Park,
00:39:51 --> 00:39:54 and Woodland Hills, as well as in Cleveland, Ohio.
00:39:55 --> 00:40:01 In each case, Hall had either moved or was not recognized by current residents.
00:40:01 --> 00:40:09 By March 2025, attorney Tyrone Blackburn informed the court that traditional methods had failed.
00:40:10 --> 00:40:14 He requested permission to serve Hall through newspaper publications,
00:40:14 --> 00:40:16 citing outlets like the Los Angeles Times.
00:40:17 --> 00:40:22 This move singled a last resort effort in an increasingly difficult search.
00:40:23 --> 00:40:27 Private investigators brought in with no results.
00:40:27 --> 00:40:35 In September 2025, Blackburn hired private investigator Carlos Jackson to lead
00:40:35 --> 00:40:36 a more aggressive search.
00:40:37 --> 00:40:39 Jackson used National Database.
00:40:41 --> 00:40:46 Checks, and canvassed Los Angeles County neighborhoods where Hall had been spotted in the past.
00:40:47 --> 00:40:52 He followed leads suggesting Hall had ties to Fulton County, Georgia.
00:40:52 --> 00:40:56 Despite at least 10 different attempts across various locations,
00:40:57 --> 00:41:01 Jackson found no viable leads or confirmed sightings.
00:41:02 --> 00:41:08 Efforts include searching areas where Hall was rumored to walk his dog and visit
00:41:08 --> 00:41:10 known entertainer circles.
00:41:11 --> 00:41:15 Still no contact with Hall has been made, and he has not responded to the lawsuit.
00:41:16 --> 00:41:19 Public reaction grows as Aaron Hall remains elusive.
00:41:20 --> 00:41:26 Social media users have reacted strongly to the news of Hall being legally missing.
00:41:26 --> 00:41:34 On X, many express shock and skepticism, with one post saying Aaron Hall is missing.
00:41:35 --> 00:41:37 It's actually insane.
00:41:38 --> 00:41:43 Others suggest Hall may be deliberately avoiding the lawsuit rather than truly disappearing.
00:41:44 --> 00:41:53 Comments like he's ducking them, people, and hiding and not missing at all reflects public doubt.
00:41:54 --> 00:41:59 Some users link the situation to broader discussions around ditty.
00:42:00 --> 00:42:07 Who is also named in the same suit. Still, no verified sightings or statements from Hall have emerged.
00:42:08 --> 00:42:12 So, what does it sound like to you? Do you think?
00:42:12 --> 00:42:17 It sounds like he pulled a Russell Simmons. Yeah, yeah. Does it sound like he just disappeared?
00:42:18 --> 00:42:24 Or, you know, same thing. Who else did that? Most deaf did the same thing when he fled? You know.
00:42:24 --> 00:42:28 Puff Daddy tried, but he came back. Yeah, he tried.
00:42:29 --> 00:42:36 But, I mean, does it sound like he's just avoiding being caught?
00:42:36 --> 00:42:38 Or could something else be going on? Could he be dead?
00:42:39 --> 00:42:43 No. I mean, to me, it sounds like he on the run. He on the run, right?
00:42:45 --> 00:42:50 And probably, now, I've been hearing for years about Hall and some of the crazy
00:42:50 --> 00:42:52 stuff that he's done in the past.
00:42:52 --> 00:42:56 But, you know, but if they got him linked to Diddy like that,
00:42:57 --> 00:42:59 You know, I guess that's a big reason to run.
00:42:59 --> 00:43:04 Oh, yeah. But, you know, because I think his name did come up during the trial,
00:43:04 --> 00:43:05 if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, it did.
00:43:06 --> 00:43:14 Yeah, so, yeah, so, yeah, he, I see why he is running, but would it be smart
00:43:14 --> 00:43:18 to stay in the States if he's in the States? Nope. Not at all, right?
00:43:18 --> 00:43:21 Nope. Get out the country. Get out the country. Yeah.
00:43:21 --> 00:43:26 Get out the country. I mean, you know, like them other people did, like most deaf did.
00:43:26 --> 00:43:30 And, you know, of course, what do you call him? He just said his name.
00:43:31 --> 00:43:35 And I forgot that quote, Russell Simmons. Russell Simmons did the same thing.
00:43:36 --> 00:43:41 You know, when celebrities do stuff like this, it's interesting because if you're
00:43:41 --> 00:43:48 now, of course, he's a little bit past his time. So he could probably blend in if he wanted to.
00:43:50 --> 00:43:54 But, you know, with people with that type of persona or whatever,
00:43:54 --> 00:43:58 because he was always a flashy guy back in the day, you know,
00:43:59 --> 00:44:01 how much is he going to blend in?
00:44:01 --> 00:44:06 I'm sure he'd probably tell somebody, do you know who I am? You know, that type of thing.
00:44:07 --> 00:44:14 But I don't know. I saw the story and I was like, okay, is he trying to be Machiavelli?
00:44:15 --> 00:44:16 You know.
00:44:18 --> 00:44:22 Or is he hanging out with Tupac over in the island somewhere right.
00:44:24 --> 00:44:30 So I don't know I just think it's interesting and especially when these celebrities
00:44:30 --> 00:44:34 think they can just disappear and nobody will ever see them again
00:44:34 --> 00:44:39 you know now he could probably do that if he did it correctly,
00:44:40 --> 00:44:44 but staying in the United States if he's still here in the States that's not
00:44:44 --> 00:44:47 the way to do it yeah you don't want to do that No, because you ain't going
00:44:47 --> 00:44:52 to ever start running, you know, you might as well be looking over your shoulder all the time.
00:44:52 --> 00:44:57 So, but I just thought it was an interesting story. And, and I just,
00:44:57 --> 00:45:01 you know, so people, if you, if you know, if you know, you know,
00:45:01 --> 00:45:06 you know, you got them hiding in your house, you know, because you like the
00:45:06 --> 00:45:07 way he sings or whatever.
00:45:08 --> 00:45:11 Don't, you know, don't, don't keep them there too long. Okay.
00:45:11 --> 00:45:12 All right. Just letting you know.
00:45:13 --> 00:45:17 So, all right. I just wanted to bring that story up because I just thought it
00:45:17 --> 00:45:19 was strange with the celebrity stuff.
00:45:19 --> 00:45:22 We got a lot of strange celebrity things going on these days,
00:45:23 --> 00:45:27 you know. Like I told you about the Rihanna thing, you know, that's a story, so...
00:45:28 --> 00:45:34 All right. Okay. Well, we're finally going to get to Leonard's favorite part of the show.
00:45:34 --> 00:45:39 I figured I'd ask this question to him today. Let's see how he handles this, folks.
00:45:39 --> 00:45:44 A lot of people always say, you know, I like how your partner answers some of
00:45:44 --> 00:45:46 your questions. I said, yeah.
00:45:46 --> 00:45:49 I said, yes, it's such a good time. He can't wait to answer the questions.
00:45:51 --> 00:45:52 Interesting. rush time.
00:45:54 --> 00:45:58 Okay. All right. As you can tell how excited he is, people.
00:45:58 --> 00:46:05 Okay. Here it is. A wealthy person walks up to you and says to you,
00:46:05 --> 00:46:10 he wants to do something nice for you just because of who you are.
00:46:10 --> 00:46:14 And they offer you one of the following things.
00:46:14 --> 00:46:16 What would be your choice?
00:46:17 --> 00:46:24 $1 million in cash or three pieces of land, now just land, nothing on them,
00:46:25 --> 00:46:27 located in the following places.
00:46:27 --> 00:46:33 So there's one piece of land in each one of these places that you would have.
00:46:34 --> 00:46:36 Florida, California, and New York.
00:46:37 --> 00:46:40 Which one would you take? I'm taking the money, Dave.
00:46:40 --> 00:46:45 You're taking the money? Yeah, I'm taking the money. Okay. Yeah, that's interesting.
00:46:46 --> 00:46:51 Okay. Give me the money. What's your choice about the money over the land?
00:46:51 --> 00:46:55 Because I'm tired of land. I'm tired of rental properties. I'm tired of all that.
00:46:56 --> 00:47:01 Yeah, yeah. Give me that $1 million so I can buy me like a storage facility,
00:47:01 --> 00:47:06 a car wash, a laundromat, something like that. Something simple. Yeah.
00:47:07 --> 00:47:10 Okay. All right. That kind of runs itself, huh?
00:47:11 --> 00:47:16 Hopefully. Yeah, yeah. Okay. So you're taking the money. What about you?
00:47:18 --> 00:47:23 You know what? The money just seems so easy to take. But that money,
00:47:23 --> 00:47:28 gosh, you know, after watching Trump on TV last week with his State of the Union,
00:47:28 --> 00:47:30 gas is at an all-time low.
00:47:30 --> 00:47:35 Is that some places having $1.99 now? So we're almost going up to $4.
00:47:36 --> 00:47:39 How long is a million dollars really going to last me?
00:47:39 --> 00:47:47 I feel the property probably in those three states could be worth more to me.
00:47:48 --> 00:47:53 By having those properties and having someone put something on those properties
00:47:53 --> 00:47:55 where they have to pay me.
00:47:55 --> 00:48:01 That's how McDonald's got rich. It's because McDonald's Corporation bought the
00:48:01 --> 00:48:06 land and people had to pay them in order to put a franchise on it.
00:48:07 --> 00:48:11 So I think I would take the land. Gotcha. Okay. Yeah, I mean,
00:48:11 --> 00:48:15 I'm not mad at you. I just know I'm tired of land.
00:48:16 --> 00:48:21 Well, yeah, I can see you being tired of land. You deal with it every day.
00:48:23 --> 00:48:28 What would you guys do, though? I'm just curious. You know, it seems like it's
00:48:28 --> 00:48:31 so cut and dry because a lot of people probably would say the money.
00:48:31 --> 00:48:35 But I don't know. A million dollars? How long will it really last you these
00:48:35 --> 00:48:36 days with everything that's going on?
00:48:37 --> 00:48:40 You know, be a millionaire for a couple days?
00:48:42 --> 00:48:45 Because you're going to buy a whole bunch of stuff. I already know that's what you're going to do.
00:48:46 --> 00:48:51 But anyway, guys, give us your answer. Let us know what you say about that.
00:48:52 --> 00:48:57 You know, Leonard said the money. I said the land. Let's see what you guys say. So, all right.
00:48:58 --> 00:49:02 Well, that's our show for tonight. We really thank you guys for taking the time
00:49:02 --> 00:49:04 to listen to us, as you always do.
00:49:05 --> 00:49:08 And we really appreciate it. And anything you want to add before we sign off?
00:49:09 --> 00:49:14 No, I just hope all these other people out there who were affected by Daylight
00:49:14 --> 00:49:19 Saving Time are able to catch up this week. Man. I'm struggling.
00:49:20 --> 00:49:23 You know what? The past couple of days I have been, too.
00:49:23 --> 00:49:25 I ain't going to lie. Usually, I'm usually up when that time changes.
00:49:26 --> 00:49:28 But I went to sleep prior to that this time.
00:49:29 --> 00:49:33 But it seems like I'm still trying to catch up with that hour, man. Yeah.
00:49:34 --> 00:49:38 Yeah. So I second that emotion that Leonard just put out there.
00:49:39 --> 00:49:43 So we'll catch up with it in about a week or two.
00:49:43 --> 00:49:45 I'm sure we'll get our bodies regulated.
00:49:47 --> 00:49:52 But anyway, all right, guys. Thank you for listening. We will talk to you next
00:49:52 --> 00:49:54 week. All right. Have a good night.
00:50:03 --> 00:50:08 Tune in next week, ladies and gentlemen, for another edition of News and Trends
00:50:08 --> 00:50:10 with your host, Dave and Lynn.
