What happened to Rasheem Carter? He was a 25-year-old missing Black man from Mississippi whose remains were found on private land (30 days after missing) after asking the police for help because he felt his life was in Danger.
Sheriff Joel Houston said "Rasheem Carter did not indicate he was in any danger when he came to the police department. To them, he never seemed to be in any distress or anything and he never mentioned anything about being in immediate danger."

[00:00:19] Welcome, welcome, welcome. You are listening to NBG Radio, National Black Guide Radio. I am your host and founder Leonard Young.
[00:00:28] This is our second episode and we look forward to bringing you stories that we post on our Instagram account that we really just want to get more attention to and add some additional dialogue.
[00:00:40] Today we are going to be talking about the story regarding Rashim Carter and this is out of Mississippi. A lot of you may have heard of it.
[00:00:50] Thank goodness, the information is starting to get out more and more and more people are demanding more answers regarding what happened to them.
[00:01:00] If you're not familiar with Rashim Carter, I'm going to play a little clip right here and then we'll talk about it afterwards.
[00:01:07] I want to know what happened and the reason why.
[00:01:10] The family of Rashim Ryel Carter is reeling from the discovery of what could be his remains in the woods outside Taylor'sville 31 days after he went missing.
[00:01:20] His cousin Shonda Wright says he told his mother the day he disappeared that he was concerned about three men following him and told her to question them if anything happened to him.
[00:01:30] He did speak with his mom about a white truck and white males in there burning to harm him. He did give her their names.
[00:01:42] According to authorities, the 25-year-old was last seen outside a Super 8 hotel on October 2nd in Laurel,
[00:01:49] a half hour from where he had been contracted to work in Taylor'sville at Georgia Pacific.
[00:01:54] The Heinz Community College graduate did not have a vehicle. He also sold seafood in and around his home of Fayette.
[00:02:01] He was real down to earth, never met a stranger. He talked when you met him. He always greeted with a smile.
[00:02:09] He was just a fun and loving person. She didn't bother anyone.
[00:02:15] Carter also leaves behind a six-year-old daughter and a family wanting answers.
[00:02:20] If anyone knows, just come forward and let the family know we won't close you. We deserve closure.
[00:02:28] In Jackson Rock.
[00:02:29] So this is a story about Rashim Carter of course. And so he disappeared around October 2nd.
[00:02:39] His remains were found around October 4th.
[00:02:42] And his family is saying that when they last spoke to him, he was concerned about three white men that had been following him.
[00:02:50] And he was concerned about his safety.
[00:02:53] The family also says that he identified the three men with names and that his family, his mother specifically was on the telephone when he went to the sheriff's office to basically, I guess,
[00:03:08] file an incident that he believes that his safety or his life was in danger.
[00:03:14] At the time that he went into the police department, he was also on the phone with his mother.
[00:03:19] So his mother heard him making those statements to the police.
[00:03:24] Now the police are now saying that when he came in, they did not believe that he was in any type of distress.
[00:03:33] He did not make any statements regarding, you know, any type of danger or threat to his life.
[00:03:41] So of course they did nothing.
[00:03:44] Now, looking at Twitter this morning, I do see it said and this was, I guess posted about 11 hours ago.
[00:03:54] According to authorities, the possible remains of Carter have been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
[00:04:03] Carter's mom has also provided a DNA sample to help with identification.
[00:04:10] And we of course know that Rashim Carter leaves behind a six year old daughter.
[00:04:15] Now also on Twitter there's a post and this appears to be from a cousin.
[00:04:19] It says, Rashim, Ryle Carter was murdered in Taylorville, Mississippi.
[00:04:26] He told his mother that if anything happened to him, it was his boss and three trucks filled with white men were after him.
[00:04:36] October 2nd, of course, is the date that he went missing.
[00:04:40] November 2nd is the date that his body was found in the woods.
[00:04:44] So there are a lot of conflicting stories here basically with what his family knows to be true, as well as them being on the phone when he went to the sheriff's office.
[00:04:55] And then what the sheriff's response to this is which is basically saying when he came into the police department, he was not in any distress.
[00:05:05] He did not appear to be in any danger. He did not state he was in any danger.
[00:05:10] And they specifically stated that they believed, in fact, I just want to get the exact wording.
[00:05:19] And I'm just going to summarize what it appears that they're saying is that he was just trying to find a ride back to Laurel when he came in contact with the police.
[00:05:31] Now, I don't know what black man in this day and age would ever go into a police department and ask for a ride guilty or innocent.
[00:05:42] I'm not stepping inside a police department unless I have to.
[00:05:46] So, you know, right now we're hoping that everybody can share this story like comment and share on our Instagram, or you know any news article you can see about it because this story definitely needs more attention.
[00:06:00] If you go to our Instagram page and find where we posted about this story, the date is November 27, 2022. Just in case you're listening to this in the future.
[00:06:14] And in the caption at the bottom of the caption, there is a link to his go fund me. Of course that link is not clickable.
[00:06:23] But his family is raising money for a go fund me. As of today, they had a goal of $10,000 they're currently at $8,435 and they are stating in their description that the purpose of this go fund me is to is well they're doing the go fund me because of the nature of his death and the investigation or lack of their family is trying to retain legal
[00:06:52] counsel, a private investigator and an independent autopsy that they may have a fair chance at attaining justice for regime. So we urge you if you are able, please go to their go fund me and you know donate whatever amount it may be.
[00:07:12] So again, we just wanted to bring this story to your attention because you know this is something that you know we definitely need more answers for whether it's the three men involved whether it's the police but we definitely need answers and we're hoping you can share this story and we can get justice for regime.
