00:00:32 --> 00:00:33 Hello everyone. This is Deia Avery with
00:00:33 --> 00:00:36 the Demia Avery Show, the industry. Now,
00:00:36 --> 00:00:39 my next guest has done a little bit of
00:00:39 --> 00:00:41 everything, and I mean everything in
00:00:41 --> 00:00:43 this entertainment business from working
00:00:43 --> 00:00:45 behind the scenes of Saturday Night Live
00:00:45 --> 00:00:47 and covering the New York Knicks to
00:00:47 --> 00:00:50 appearing in hit shows like Black Mafia
00:00:50 --> 00:00:53 Family, Atlanta, and Hush. She has
00:00:53 --> 00:00:55 definitely earned her stripe. She's an
00:00:55 --> 00:00:58 actress, former sports journalist,
00:00:58 --> 00:01:00 television personality, and a woman who
00:01:00 --> 00:01:02 knows how to reinvent herself and keep
00:01:02 --> 00:01:05 it moving. And this interview is extra
00:01:05 --> 00:01:07 special because she's also part of our
00:01:07 --> 00:01:10 very own Avery Agency family. Now, I
00:01:10 --> 00:01:12 already know this woman has a big
00:01:12 --> 00:01:14 personality, so there's no telling where
00:01:14 --> 00:01:16 this conversation is going to go. So,
00:01:16 --> 00:01:18 get ready for some laughs, some great
00:01:18 --> 00:01:20 stories, and a little industry knowledge
00:01:20 --> 00:01:22 as we welcome the fabulous Carrie J.
00:01:22 --> 00:01:25 Baldwin. Welcome. Oh, thank you so much
00:01:25 --> 00:01:28 for having me. That was a wonderful
00:01:28 --> 00:01:29 introduction.
00:01:29 --> 00:01:31 >> I want to record that and take it with
00:01:31 --> 00:01:35 me everywhere I go. Look, [laughter]
00:01:35 --> 00:01:36 >> I love it.
00:01:36 --> 00:01:38 >> I love that. It's so nice to see you.
00:01:38 --> 00:01:39 Thanks for having me.
00:01:39 --> 00:01:41 >> You are so welcome. I'm so happy to see
00:01:41 --> 00:01:45 you before we got started. I feel like
00:01:45 --> 00:01:47 I've known Carrie forever. And I usually
00:01:47 --> 00:01:51 Jared now she deals with my uh sister
00:01:51 --> 00:01:54 which is her agent but she and I mostly
00:01:54 --> 00:01:56 talk on social media so we never
00:01:56 --> 00:01:59 actually talk but I feel like [laughter]
00:01:59 --> 00:02:01 we talk about we feel like we're cousins
00:02:01 --> 00:02:01 or something.
00:02:01 --> 00:02:05 >> We are cousins. Yes we are from Delaware
00:02:05 --> 00:02:07 to South Jersey. We can have those
00:02:07 --> 00:02:10 conversations, you know, to every and
00:02:10 --> 00:02:13 anything. It's so good to finally um
00:02:13 --> 00:02:16 connect outside of of social media,
00:02:16 --> 00:02:17 >> right? I'm I'm very honored that you'd
00:02:18 --> 00:02:19 bring me on your show. I' I've enjoyed
00:02:20 --> 00:02:23 watching it. Um you've done a great job
00:02:23 --> 00:02:25 uh with it and sharing invaluable
00:02:25 --> 00:02:27 information and bringing, you know, some
00:02:27 --> 00:02:29 really big heavy hitters on the show
00:02:29 --> 00:02:31 that really have a lot of intel about
00:02:31 --> 00:02:34 the industry as things are changing.
00:02:34 --> 00:02:37 It's like every day there's something
00:02:37 --> 00:02:39 different going on. So,
00:02:39 --> 00:02:40 >> thank you for that. Thank you for
00:02:40 --> 00:02:41 sharing with us.
00:02:41 --> 00:02:43 >> You are so welcome. Now Carrie,
00:02:43 --> 00:02:45 >> now you lived about five different
00:02:45 --> 00:02:47 entertainment lives, girl. So [laughter]
00:02:47 --> 00:02:49 you you've been a beauty pageant
00:02:49 --> 00:02:51 contestant, sports journalist,
00:02:51 --> 00:02:54 television host, actress. Is there
00:02:54 --> 00:02:56 anything you haven't tried? And out of
00:02:56 --> 00:02:58 all these careers, which one brought out
00:02:58 --> 00:03:01 the real Carrie Baldwin?
00:03:01 --> 00:03:04 >> Wow. I would say I haven't done any
00:03:04 --> 00:03:07 stunts, right? And I probably will never
00:03:07 --> 00:03:09 do anything. Well, I have. I've done
00:03:09 --> 00:03:11 stunts, but not real real stunts, you
00:03:11 --> 00:03:13 know. Um,
00:03:14 --> 00:03:17 >> I would probably gosh, it's I've enjoyed
00:03:18 --> 00:03:20 I've enjoyed doing everything, but
00:03:20 --> 00:03:24 really acting has always just been in me
00:03:24 --> 00:03:26 ever since I was a child, you know,
00:03:26 --> 00:03:28 starting in theater in South Jersey.
00:03:28 --> 00:03:29 Yeah.
00:03:29 --> 00:03:32 >> And just performing. Um, [snorts]
00:03:32 --> 00:03:34 >> that's just always been what I've
00:03:34 --> 00:03:36 enjoyed to do. And it's really helped
00:03:36 --> 00:03:39 me. Um, you didn't mention my sales
00:03:39 --> 00:03:40 career. That's that's something else I
00:03:40 --> 00:03:44 have going on, right? Um, so it's really
00:03:44 --> 00:03:47 helped me in every aspect um, facet of
00:03:47 --> 00:03:50 my life, you know, just being able to to
00:03:50 --> 00:03:52 be confident and to speak to people to
00:03:52 --> 00:03:55 get the things that you need right to
00:03:55 --> 00:03:57 not be afraid to ask for what you need.
00:03:57 --> 00:03:59 Um, and interacting with so many
00:03:59 --> 00:04:01 different types of people. So, I would
00:04:01 --> 00:04:04 definitely say being an actress by far.
00:04:04 --> 00:04:06 >> Yeah. Well, okay. So, the whole Saturday
00:04:06 --> 00:04:07 Night Live thing.
00:04:07 --> 00:04:08 >> Yes.
00:04:08 --> 00:04:11 >> Okay. So, I know you have some stories.
00:04:11 --> 00:04:13 So, what was one of the craziest or
00:04:13 --> 00:04:15 funny things that you have witnessed
00:04:15 --> 00:04:17 maybe like behind the scenes or did you
00:04:17 --> 00:04:19 ever have one of those moments where you
00:04:19 --> 00:04:20 thought, I cannot believe they're paying
00:04:20 --> 00:04:23 me to be here, [laughter]
00:04:23 --> 00:04:26 >> you know? SNL. So, I was a page. Are you
00:04:26 --> 00:04:29 familiar with the NBC page program?
00:04:29 --> 00:04:30 >> I am not. No,
00:04:30 --> 00:04:31 >> you're not. So, if you've ever watched
00:04:31 --> 00:04:34 30 Rock, I think they do like they've
00:04:34 --> 00:04:36 had like episodes where they feature the
00:04:36 --> 00:04:39 pages and we wore these navy blue suits
00:04:39 --> 00:04:43 >> and we toured NBC. So, people pay to
00:04:43 --> 00:04:44 tour NBC.
00:04:44 --> 00:04:45 >> Okay.
00:04:45 --> 00:04:47 >> Throughout that tour, you take them to
00:04:47 --> 00:04:49 SNL. At the time, it was the Rosie
00:04:49 --> 00:04:52 O'Donnell show that was on the Today
00:04:52 --> 00:04:54 Show. This is when Katie and Matt were
00:04:54 --> 00:04:55 there.
00:04:55 --> 00:04:58 >> Um, Nightly News with Tom Bro. I was his
00:04:58 --> 00:05:01 production assistant. uh you have NBC
00:05:01 --> 00:05:04 Sports. It was just every studio within
00:05:04 --> 00:05:07 the in the building and it was
00:05:07 --> 00:05:09 absolutely amazing. Like I just I made
00:05:09 --> 00:05:11 the best of it. I did not make a lot of
00:05:12 --> 00:05:12 money
00:05:12 --> 00:05:15 >> back then. I made $10 an hour.
00:05:15 --> 00:05:17 >> I was about 24 years old.
00:05:17 --> 00:05:18 >> Yeah.
00:05:18 --> 00:05:22 >> Um very prestigious program to get into.
00:05:22 --> 00:05:24 I mean thousands and thousands of
00:05:24 --> 00:05:28 postgraduates apply to be a page. Okay.
00:05:28 --> 00:05:31 But in that you get so much invaluable
00:05:31 --> 00:05:34 like training. I mean handson being
00:05:34 --> 00:05:36 right there front and center. So I did
00:05:36 --> 00:05:39 have the opportunity to work SNL a few
00:05:39 --> 00:05:41 times. And I mean you know you'd bump
00:05:41 --> 00:05:45 into um gosh why am I drawing a blank?
00:05:45 --> 00:05:48 My girl with the glasses. Um Tina.
00:05:48 --> 00:05:49 >> Okay.
00:05:49 --> 00:05:50 >> Tina Fay.
00:05:50 --> 00:05:53 >> You could bump into Tina Fay. Um, you
00:05:53 --> 00:05:55 know, you watch them, you know, as they
00:05:55 --> 00:05:58 practice going up into the stands. It
00:05:58 --> 00:06:01 just, it just was live. I mean, and we
00:06:01 --> 00:06:05 worked a lot. I worked like 80 60 to 80
00:06:05 --> 00:06:07 hours a week sometimes.
00:06:07 --> 00:06:09 >> It was a lot. So, with SNL, you weren't
00:06:09 --> 00:06:12 getting off until like 3:00 3:30 in the
00:06:12 --> 00:06:13 morning.
00:06:13 --> 00:06:16 >> Okay. So, I really I worked SNL a few
00:06:16 --> 00:06:19 times, but my main um pub, my main
00:06:19 --> 00:06:21 assignment for the most part was nightly
00:06:21 --> 00:06:23 the nightly news with Tom Bro.
00:06:23 --> 00:06:24 >> Okay.
00:06:24 --> 00:06:25 >> So, go ahead.
00:06:25 --> 00:06:29 >> But I I I I bet doing all of that, I
00:06:29 --> 00:06:31 mean, that had to cultivate your work
00:06:32 --> 00:06:34 ethic because doing all those hours and
00:06:34 --> 00:06:36 stuff like that, I I just couldn't
00:06:36 --> 00:06:39 imagine. Does that help you with with
00:06:39 --> 00:06:42 your acting now? like the whole work
00:06:42 --> 00:06:43 ethic thing.
00:06:43 --> 00:06:45 >> Absolutely. Absolutely. Working like
00:06:45 --> 00:06:48 that, being young, right? I had a little
00:06:48 --> 00:06:50 bit more energy. I'm I'm a little older
00:06:50 --> 00:06:53 now. [laughter]
00:06:53 --> 00:06:56 Actually, 25 years later, um I think
00:06:56 --> 00:07:00 though what it's done for me more than
00:07:00 --> 00:07:03 anything is it's strengthened my faith.
00:07:03 --> 00:07:04 >> Deia.
00:07:04 --> 00:07:08 >> Okay. Um, it's been 25 years and I have
00:07:08 --> 00:07:12 so many full circle moments that started
00:07:12 --> 00:07:14 with NBC
00:07:14 --> 00:07:16 >> that I can think of and I'm like, and
00:07:16 --> 00:07:19 I'm a very um, sentimental person. I
00:07:19 --> 00:07:21 always like to put meaning with
00:07:21 --> 00:07:23 something and really understand and be
00:07:24 --> 00:07:27 like, God, like you did not forget.
00:07:27 --> 00:07:30 >> You didn't forget. I don't care if it
00:07:30 --> 00:07:31 didn't happen right away. It didn't
00:07:31 --> 00:07:33 happen today. It didn't happen tomorrow.
00:07:33 --> 00:07:36 25 years later, you never forgot what I
00:07:36 --> 00:07:39 asked for. And I think that's what's
00:07:39 --> 00:07:42 actually more important to me than
00:07:42 --> 00:07:44 anything because I know he is so
00:07:44 --> 00:07:46 faithful and he is so real.
00:07:46 --> 00:07:46 >> Yeah.
00:07:46 --> 00:07:48 >> And it's just Yeah. It's I get I get
00:07:48 --> 00:07:50 sentimental when I think about those
00:07:50 --> 00:07:52 things with NBC.
00:07:52 --> 00:07:53 >> I bet. I bet. Well, let's talk about
00:07:53 --> 00:07:56 your sports reporting days cuz you you
00:07:56 --> 00:07:58 covered some New York Knicks stuff. So,
00:07:58 --> 00:07:59 you've been around
00:07:59 --> 00:08:03 >> some pretty big personalities. So, who's
00:08:03 --> 00:08:04 harder to deal with, a professional
00:08:04 --> 00:08:07 athlete after losing a game or an actor
00:08:07 --> 00:08:10 who didn't get the role?
00:08:10 --> 00:08:13 What [laughter] did sports journalism
00:08:13 --> 00:08:15 teach you about rejection? You know,
00:08:16 --> 00:08:19 >> I will tell you that um my experience is
00:08:19 --> 00:08:22 such with dealing with an athlete. Um I
00:08:22 --> 00:08:25 did a lot of freelance reporting through
00:08:25 --> 00:08:27 NBC. So, I got the gig uh through
00:08:27 --> 00:08:29 Pan-American Sports, but through NBC
00:08:30 --> 00:08:32 covering the Knicks on a few occasions,
00:08:32 --> 00:08:35 and I can remember being in the locker
00:08:35 --> 00:08:36 room,
00:08:36 --> 00:08:38 >> being the only female in the locker
00:08:38 --> 00:08:41 room. This is New York media.
00:08:41 --> 00:08:45 >> Okay. I'm 24 years old trying to ask
00:08:45 --> 00:08:46 questions. Yeah.
00:08:46 --> 00:08:48 >> And Allan Henderson, I will never
00:08:48 --> 00:08:51 forget. And I don't know where he is now
00:08:51 --> 00:08:53 or what he was like, I mean, can I put
00:08:53 --> 00:08:55 my clothes on, you know? And I was like,
00:08:55 --> 00:08:57 "Oh my god." Like, I'm the only one. So,
00:08:57 --> 00:08:59 I don't know if you know Chris Brousard,
00:08:59 --> 00:09:02 who's now on ESPN. He was back then um a
00:09:02 --> 00:09:04 writer, I want to say, for the New York
00:09:04 --> 00:09:06 Times at the time. So, I'm in this
00:09:06 --> 00:09:08 locker room with a bunch of men. I'm
00:09:08 --> 00:09:11 this young girl, and I'm I'm just I was
00:09:11 --> 00:09:13 proud of myself cuz I was forging my way
00:09:13 --> 00:09:15 in getting my questions. And I will tell
00:09:15 --> 00:09:17 you who showed up for your girl was
00:09:18 --> 00:09:19 Latrell Spreewell.
00:09:19 --> 00:09:19 >> What?
00:09:20 --> 00:09:23 >> He gave me the best interview ever. I
00:09:23 --> 00:09:25 will never forget that when Allan when
00:09:25 --> 00:09:27 Alan Henderson was like, "Let me put my
00:09:27 --> 00:09:29 clothes on." I want to be like, "I'm not
00:09:29 --> 00:09:32 even looking at you." [laughter] Like,
00:09:32 --> 00:09:35 you know what I mean?
00:09:35 --> 00:09:38 >> So, yes, Latrell Spreewell was awesome.
00:09:38 --> 00:09:42 And I want to say that this was
00:09:42 --> 00:09:44 this was after I don't know if you
00:09:44 --> 00:09:46 remember the contra when he choked PJ
00:09:46 --> 00:09:48 Carissimo when he was when he was on the
00:09:48 --> 00:09:50 Golden State Warriors. I want to say he
00:09:50 --> 00:09:53 went to the Knicks after.
00:09:53 --> 00:09:54 >> Okay.
00:09:54 --> 00:09:55 >> I want to say this was after, but he was
00:09:56 --> 00:09:56 wonderful.
00:09:56 --> 00:09:56 >> Yeah,
00:09:56 --> 00:09:59 >> he was wonderful. So, it made up for it.
00:09:59 --> 00:10:00 But, yeah, dealing with a bunch of of
00:10:00 --> 00:10:02 grown men that are athletes and really
00:10:02 --> 00:10:06 trying to gain the respect, right? Um,
00:10:06 --> 00:10:08 and them not be like, "Hey, what's up?
00:10:08 --> 00:10:10 How you doing? Give, you know, that was
00:10:10 --> 00:10:12 very challenging for me
00:10:12 --> 00:10:13 >> as well." That was very challenging.
00:10:13 --> 00:10:15 When I was in college,
00:10:15 --> 00:10:17 >> my first gig was covering the uh, at the
00:10:17 --> 00:10:19 time the Washington Redskins. Okay,
00:10:19 --> 00:10:22 >> this is when North Turner was the coach
00:10:22 --> 00:10:25 and he had his own show called the North
00:10:25 --> 00:10:27 Turner show. So I would cover training
00:10:27 --> 00:10:29 camp with Renie KN who was the lead
00:10:29 --> 00:10:32 sport sports cer for the ABC affiliate
00:10:32 --> 00:10:34 in DC and that was a little challenging
00:10:34 --> 00:10:37 really trying to find a balance between
00:10:37 --> 00:10:38 how do you do good work? How do you
00:10:38 --> 00:10:41 still be nice, want to be respected but
00:10:41 --> 00:10:43 not have guys hit on you?
00:10:43 --> 00:10:44 >> Right.
00:10:44 --> 00:10:45 >> That was challenging.
00:10:45 --> 00:10:46 >> I bet. I bet I bet
00:10:46 --> 00:10:48 >> that was challenging back then cuz I
00:10:48 --> 00:10:49 knew my stuff.
00:10:49 --> 00:10:51 >> I still know my stuff to me [laughter]
00:10:51 --> 00:10:53 and they be Listen, I still got guy
00:10:53 --> 00:10:55 friends that be calling me talking
00:10:55 --> 00:10:57 about, "Hey, my my homeboy don't know
00:10:57 --> 00:11:00 much about football, you know, for which
00:11:00 --> 00:11:01 what what you think's going on with the
00:11:01 --> 00:11:04 Eagles? What which you know, and we have
00:11:04 --> 00:11:06 those conversations." [laughter] So, I
00:11:06 --> 00:11:09 knew my stuff, but it was getting past
00:11:09 --> 00:11:11 all the politics, right? The all the all
00:11:11 --> 00:11:13 the other stuff that was kind of
00:11:13 --> 00:11:16 challenging for me. Well, I I definitely
00:11:16 --> 00:11:19 want to get into your acting career
00:11:19 --> 00:11:21 because you took some time off. You took
00:11:21 --> 00:11:24 about 15 years off and then I know the
00:11:24 --> 00:11:25 industry didn't just roll out the red
00:11:25 --> 00:11:27 carpet for you when you, you know, when
00:11:27 --> 00:11:29 you came back. What was your biggest
00:11:29 --> 00:11:31 reality check when you returned? And
00:11:31 --> 00:11:33 what would you tell actors who trying to
00:11:33 --> 00:11:36 make that that type of comeback?
00:11:36 --> 00:11:39 >> Every day now is something different.
00:11:39 --> 00:11:42 Um, coming from theater,
00:11:42 --> 00:11:44 >> I had done mostly theater, right? So,
00:11:44 --> 00:11:47 growing up, I had my mom um did have an
00:11:47 --> 00:11:49 agent. I had an agent in New York.
00:11:50 --> 00:11:52 >> Uh, my mom worked in the casino, so it
00:11:52 --> 00:11:54 was really difficult for her to get me
00:11:54 --> 00:11:56 back and forth to auditions up to New
00:11:56 --> 00:11:59 York. So, it was one of those things
00:11:59 --> 00:12:00 where
00:12:00 --> 00:12:03 um the TV and film part of it wasn't
00:12:03 --> 00:12:04 really happening, but the theater part
00:12:04 --> 00:12:05 was.
00:12:05 --> 00:12:07 >> Okay. And when I went to the University
00:12:07 --> 00:12:09 of Maryland, I'd grown up in theater. I
00:12:10 --> 00:12:11 didn't want to major in theater. So, I
00:12:11 --> 00:12:13 took the journalism route and and
00:12:13 --> 00:12:14 majored in journalism and
00:12:14 --> 00:12:17 communications. And once I decided to
00:12:17 --> 00:12:20 get back in, I was like, "Wow, this is a
00:12:20 --> 00:12:23 this is a whole different ballgame. You
00:12:23 --> 00:12:24 know, this is TV and film. This is
00:12:24 --> 00:12:26 Atlanta. This is a new market." At the
00:12:26 --> 00:12:29 time, Atlanta was a lot newer, right?
00:12:29 --> 00:12:31 So, I'm coming from New Jersey, um, in
00:12:31 --> 00:12:35 the New York market, um, Philadelphia.
00:12:35 --> 00:12:38 It was just very different. So to actors
00:12:38 --> 00:12:41 who are trying to get back into it and
00:12:41 --> 00:12:43 want to I called myself a resurgent
00:12:44 --> 00:12:46 actress. I'll never forget. Um
00:12:46 --> 00:12:47 [laughter]
00:12:47 --> 00:12:49 Ron Rico cracked up at me. He had come
00:12:49 --> 00:12:51 to one of my acting classes. This is
00:12:51 --> 00:12:52 when I used to study with Dwayne Boyd
00:12:52 --> 00:12:54 and the Pan Fam
00:12:54 --> 00:12:56 >> and he had brought Ron Rico in. And I
00:12:56 --> 00:12:57 was like, I'm Carrie J. Baldwin and I'm
00:12:58 --> 00:13:00 a resurging actress. He said, "Okay,
00:13:00 --> 00:13:00 [laughter]
00:13:00 --> 00:13:03 this resurgent act." And I was like, "Oh
00:13:03 --> 00:13:07 gosh, did I just like embarrass myself?"
00:13:07 --> 00:13:09 [laughter]
00:13:09 --> 00:13:12 >> So, I would say definitely stay a breast
00:13:12 --> 00:13:15 of the industry changes, right, and
00:13:15 --> 00:13:16 what's going on. And as we all know now
00:13:16 --> 00:13:19 in 2026, social media is taking over.
00:13:19 --> 00:13:20 >> Yeah.
00:13:20 --> 00:13:22 >> Right. So, we're trying to those of us
00:13:22 --> 00:13:25 who've been tried, true, and tested and
00:13:25 --> 00:13:29 been doing this for over 30 year, you
00:13:29 --> 00:13:32 know, oh gosh, more 40 years, you know,
00:13:32 --> 00:13:34 it changes. The industry changes all the
00:13:34 --> 00:13:36 time. The way you get paid,
00:13:36 --> 00:13:38 >> you know, the residuals, lack thereof
00:13:38 --> 00:13:41 residuals, the way you get, you know,
00:13:41 --> 00:13:43 everything is just changed so much. So,
00:13:43 --> 00:13:44 the best thing you can do is really
00:13:44 --> 00:13:46 study the industry and really study what
00:13:46 --> 00:13:49 those changes are and try to maybe have
00:13:49 --> 00:13:51 uh a little bit of a head start on it,
00:13:51 --> 00:13:52 right? To see how things are moving and
00:13:52 --> 00:13:54 where things are shifting too.
00:13:54 --> 00:13:55 >> Yeah,
00:13:55 --> 00:13:56 >> that would be my advice.
00:13:56 --> 00:13:58 >> Now, you've appeared on Black Mafia
00:13:58 --> 00:14:00 Family Atlanta.
00:14:00 --> 00:14:02 >> Let's say you walk into a set
00:14:02 --> 00:14:04 >> and discover your scene partner is
00:14:04 --> 00:14:06 somebody you've admired for years. Are
00:14:06 --> 00:14:08 you playing it cool or are you secretly
00:14:08 --> 00:14:12 freaking out inside? And how do you
00:14:12 --> 00:14:16 >> I am listen I am always one
00:14:16 --> 00:14:19 >> to fan out like over like
00:14:19 --> 00:14:23 >> but I do it in a very um
00:14:24 --> 00:14:26 uh inconspicuous kind of way. You know
00:14:26 --> 00:14:28 what I mean? Like I'm like oh my god oh
00:14:28 --> 00:14:30 my god. You know I admire your work. For
00:14:30 --> 00:14:33 instance, uh, Nicole Briana White, who I
00:14:33 --> 00:14:35 played my scene partner, who played
00:14:35 --> 00:14:36 Lucille,
00:14:36 --> 00:14:41 >> and she reminded me, she said, "You
00:14:41 --> 00:14:44 deserve to be here." Like, she's one of
00:14:44 --> 00:14:46 the ones who, she was like, "We've been
00:14:46 --> 00:14:48 trying to figure out where actors like
00:14:48 --> 00:14:50 you are. Like, you should have been
00:14:50 --> 00:14:52 here, you know?" And I don't know if it
00:14:52 --> 00:14:54 was I had a story. I always have a
00:14:54 --> 00:14:56 story, right? [laughter] I had a story
00:14:56 --> 00:15:00 for her about raising Kanan and um she
00:15:00 --> 00:15:03 had introduced me to the showrunner, the
00:15:03 --> 00:15:05 producers, everybody. They were like,
00:15:05 --> 00:15:06 "Oh, you got the leads talking about
00:15:06 --> 00:15:08 you." You know, that's a great thing,
00:15:08 --> 00:15:11 you know? So, it's just
00:15:11 --> 00:15:13 once you're there and you're in that
00:15:14 --> 00:15:16 space while you know nobody's superior,
00:15:16 --> 00:15:19 right? You admire their work. It's once
00:15:19 --> 00:15:22 again God's little token of letting you
00:15:22 --> 00:15:24 know you this is where you belong.
00:15:24 --> 00:15:25 supposed to be.
00:15:25 --> 00:15:28 >> And she made me, she really made me, she
00:15:28 --> 00:15:30 set the tone. She really was the
00:15:30 --> 00:15:31 matriarch for that show.
00:15:32 --> 00:15:32 >> Yeah.
00:15:32 --> 00:15:35 >> And she set the tone. It was beautiful.
00:15:35 --> 00:15:39 >> So, yeah, that's an example of um of
00:15:39 --> 00:15:41 somebody that I truly truly enjoyed
00:15:41 --> 00:15:42 working with and that I do keep in touch
00:15:42 --> 00:15:43 with.
00:15:43 --> 00:15:46 >> Oh, well, that's wonderful. Now, now you
00:15:46 --> 00:15:48 talked about some different characters,
00:15:48 --> 00:15:49 but you play some interesting
00:15:49 --> 00:15:51 characters, including a rude aunt,
00:15:51 --> 00:15:54 >> a [laughter] a comedic nurse, and and
00:15:54 --> 00:15:55 when you get a character who's just
00:15:55 --> 00:15:58 downright mean, do you pull the attitude
00:15:58 --> 00:16:01 from like some somebody you actually
00:16:01 --> 00:16:02 know? Because I have a feeling you got a
00:16:02 --> 00:16:06 pe somebody in mind. Listen,
00:16:06 --> 00:16:06 [laughter]
00:16:06 --> 00:16:08 >> the me if you saw
00:16:08 --> 00:16:09 >> unbelievable
00:16:09 --> 00:16:12 >> if you saw the shenanigans that me and
00:16:12 --> 00:16:15 my mom my mom is really funny
00:16:15 --> 00:16:18 >> and we laugh at stuff all the time and
00:16:18 --> 00:16:22 growing up in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
00:16:22 --> 00:16:22 >> Yeah,
00:16:22 --> 00:16:25 >> I have a number of characters to pull
00:16:25 --> 00:16:30 through. So it is always somebody that I
00:16:30 --> 00:16:32 can think of from home, you know, like
00:16:32 --> 00:16:34 I'll say something and my mom will be
00:16:34 --> 00:16:37 like, "Oh my god, little Curry." You
00:16:37 --> 00:16:39 know, like we just start imitating we
00:16:39 --> 00:16:40 just start imitating people. So yes,
00:16:40 --> 00:16:43 there's always somebody that I'm that
00:16:43 --> 00:16:45 I'm pulling from or or an experience
00:16:45 --> 00:16:47 that I'm that I'm pulling from. But
00:16:47 --> 00:16:49 growing up in Atlantic City, we had a
00:16:49 --> 00:16:50 ton of
00:16:50 --> 00:16:51 >> stuff. I bet.
00:16:51 --> 00:16:53 >> Yes. And it was very diverse for me,
00:16:53 --> 00:16:56 too. I was around, you know, one of my
00:16:56 --> 00:16:58 really good friends in high school was a
00:16:58 --> 00:17:01 Jewish guy named Nate. You know, he used
00:17:01 --> 00:17:03 to bring me his uh kosha turkey
00:17:03 --> 00:17:05 sandwiches to school. Like, I have that
00:17:05 --> 00:17:08 story. I grew up with a lot of the girls
00:17:08 --> 00:17:11 not liking me and she thinks she cute,
00:17:11 --> 00:17:12 you know, all of that, dealing with
00:17:12 --> 00:17:16 that. So, it it I have a lot to pull
00:17:16 --> 00:17:18 from. [laughter]
00:17:18 --> 00:17:19 >> Yes.
00:17:19 --> 00:17:21 >> I love it. I love it. Now, you've also
00:17:21 --> 00:17:22 done a lot of commercials. So you've
00:17:22 --> 00:17:24 done like major brands like Harvey
00:17:24 --> 00:17:27 Supermarket or the lottery. Now some
00:17:27 --> 00:17:29 actors overlook commercials because
00:17:29 --> 00:17:31 they're chasing television and film. So
00:17:31 --> 00:17:33 what do you know about the commercial
00:17:33 --> 00:17:35 world that you wish more actors
00:17:35 --> 00:17:37 understood?
00:17:37 --> 00:17:40 >> You can make a lot of money doing
00:17:40 --> 00:17:41 commercials,
00:17:41 --> 00:17:42 >> right?
00:17:42 --> 00:17:46 >> I absolutely The Harvey shoot was one of
00:17:46 --> 00:17:50 my favorites till this day. Oh my gosh,
00:17:50 --> 00:17:52 they treated me so well. Um, they
00:17:52 --> 00:17:55 treated me well. I had a lot of fun. I
00:17:55 --> 00:17:57 was in that big old shopping cart
00:17:57 --> 00:18:01 riding.
00:18:01 --> 00:18:03 >> Uh oh, Carrie, I think I lost your I
00:18:03 --> 00:18:08 think I lost your sound.
00:18:08 --> 00:18:15 Uh oh.
00:18:15 --> 00:18:17 I don't know. There you go. Uh oh.
00:18:17 --> 00:18:18 >> Okay. Yeah,
00:18:18 --> 00:18:19 >> you got me.
00:18:19 --> 00:18:22 >> Yeah. So, tell me more. So, let I'mma go
00:18:22 --> 00:18:23 back a little bit.
00:18:23 --> 00:18:25 >> Okay. I know where I left off.
00:18:25 --> 00:18:26 >> Okay.
00:18:26 --> 00:18:28 >> Or you tell I'm sorry. You tell me the
00:18:28 --> 00:18:28 last
00:18:28 --> 00:18:30 >> No, go ahead. Go ahead and finish where
00:18:30 --> 00:18:31 where you left off at.
00:18:31 --> 00:18:33 >> Okay. So, I was saying I had a great
00:18:33 --> 00:18:36 time filming that commercial in that big
00:18:36 --> 00:18:37 old shopping cart.
00:18:37 --> 00:18:38 >> Uhhuh.
00:18:38 --> 00:18:39 >> Riding through Charlotte, North
00:18:39 --> 00:18:41 Carolina, waving at people like I just
00:18:41 --> 00:18:44 won the Miss America pageant. [laughter]
00:18:44 --> 00:18:46 And it was raining. Believe it or not,
00:18:46 --> 00:18:48 it was raining.
00:18:48 --> 00:18:49 >> Wow.
00:18:49 --> 00:18:51 >> So, it was crazy cuz I was like, "Oh my
00:18:51 --> 00:18:52 gosh, my hair is about to frizz up." You
00:18:52 --> 00:18:53 know, us in our hair,
00:18:53 --> 00:18:54 >> right?
00:18:54 --> 00:18:57 >> Um I want to say BMF was probably the
00:18:57 --> 00:18:59 only time I ever had like any type of
00:18:59 --> 00:19:01 extension or anything in my hair and
00:19:01 --> 00:19:03 that was because it was a period piece,
00:19:03 --> 00:19:06 but my I wasn't worried about my hair
00:19:06 --> 00:19:08 frizzing and we made it. You would have
00:19:08 --> 00:19:09 never known it was raining.
00:19:10 --> 00:19:10 >> Wow.
00:19:10 --> 00:19:12 >> Every time we cut they had an umbrella
00:19:12 --> 00:19:13 over me. They you know
00:19:13 --> 00:19:17 >> Uhhuh. It was it was a lot of fun. So So
00:19:17 --> 00:19:19 what I would say to to people and you'll
00:19:19 --> 00:19:21 even see A-list actors are doing more
00:19:21 --> 00:19:22 commercial.
00:19:22 --> 00:19:23 >> Yes, they are.
00:19:23 --> 00:19:26 >> The money is there. If you can book a
00:19:26 --> 00:19:30 good national spot um that runs, you
00:19:30 --> 00:19:31 know what I mean?
00:19:31 --> 00:19:32 >> Yeah.
00:19:32 --> 00:19:35 >> A long time. Like sometimes I look at
00:19:35 --> 00:19:37 >> commercials that I auditioned for and
00:19:37 --> 00:19:39 didn't book and I'm like, dang, they
00:19:39 --> 00:19:40 getting
00:19:40 --> 00:19:42 >> they making some money, you know?
00:19:42 --> 00:19:44 >> Yeah. You get that surprise check come
00:19:44 --> 00:19:45 in.
00:19:45 --> 00:19:47 >> Yeah. [laughter]
00:19:47 --> 00:19:49 >> Yeah. Commercials pay well. They pay
00:19:49 --> 00:19:50 very well.
00:19:50 --> 00:19:52 >> Yeah. No, let's talk about auditions for
00:19:52 --> 00:19:53 a minute.
00:19:53 --> 00:19:56 >> So, have you ever walked out of an
00:19:56 --> 00:19:57 audition thinking, "Oh, I absolutely
00:19:58 --> 00:19:59 killed it
00:19:59 --> 00:20:02 >> only to hear absolutely nothing about
00:20:02 --> 00:20:03 it. What did that experience teach you
00:20:04 --> 00:20:06 about separating your confidence from
00:20:06 --> 00:20:09 whether or not you booked a job?"
00:20:09 --> 00:20:11 >> It happens. It happened a lot in the
00:20:11 --> 00:20:13 beginning. I'm not like that now.
00:20:13 --> 00:20:15 >> Um, in the beginning I thought I was
00:20:16 --> 00:20:19 booking everything. [laughter]
00:20:19 --> 00:20:21 You couldn't tell me, you know,
00:20:22 --> 00:20:25 >> but once you realize and you don't take
00:20:25 --> 00:20:27 it personally,
00:20:27 --> 00:20:29 >> um,
00:20:29 --> 00:20:31 it doesn't bother you.
00:20:31 --> 00:20:31 >> Yeah,
00:20:31 --> 00:20:33 >> it doesn't bother you. When you don't
00:20:34 --> 00:20:36 take it personally, you leave it all in
00:20:36 --> 00:20:39 the room now all in the studio cuz we do
00:20:39 --> 00:20:40 a lot of self tapes. Right.
00:20:40 --> 00:20:41 >> Right.
00:20:41 --> 00:20:43 um you're okay.
00:20:43 --> 00:20:44 >> It's it's something you do. It's a part
00:20:44 --> 00:20:47 of the job that nobody sees, right?
00:20:47 --> 00:20:49 >> Nobody sees what we do.
00:20:49 --> 00:20:52 >> So, um I'm so much better now.
00:20:52 --> 00:20:55 >> I used to take it so personal before. I
00:20:55 --> 00:20:56 mean,
00:20:56 --> 00:20:58 >> I know I I know I KILLED THEM. WHY
00:20:58 --> 00:21:01 DIDN'T THEY say anything? Yeah. Imagine.
00:21:01 --> 00:21:03 >> And not getting any feedback can be
00:21:04 --> 00:21:06 really challenging, especially when you
00:21:06 --> 00:21:09 audition for somebody multiple times.
00:21:09 --> 00:21:11 And I'm talking
00:21:11 --> 00:21:15 I will say no names, but I have cast and
00:21:15 --> 00:21:17 directors that I've auditioned for well
00:21:17 --> 00:21:20 over a hundred times and have booked.
00:21:20 --> 00:21:21 >> Wow.
00:21:21 --> 00:21:22 >> You know what I mean? So, I just charge
00:21:22 --> 00:21:24 it to
00:21:24 --> 00:21:27 whatever God's doing, God knows best.
00:21:27 --> 00:21:29 And and he really does. Right.
00:21:29 --> 00:21:29 >> That's right.
00:21:29 --> 00:21:32 >> He knows my heart's desires. he knows um
00:21:32 --> 00:21:35 what I'm looking for as far as the path
00:21:35 --> 00:21:39 of my career and and what um was
00:21:39 --> 00:21:41 beneficial. So yeah, I don't allow it to
00:21:41 --> 00:21:44 bother me anymore.
00:21:44 --> 00:21:46 >> That's wonderful. Now you balance, let's
00:21:46 --> 00:21:48 talk about balancing acts and what I
00:21:48 --> 00:21:52 mean by that. Motherhood,
00:21:52 --> 00:21:55 >> acting, caregiving, and everything else
00:21:55 --> 00:21:57 that life throws at you. So be honest.
00:21:57 --> 00:21:59 Have you ever been learning lines while
00:21:59 --> 00:22:01 cooking dinner, answering emails, or
00:22:01 --> 00:22:03 trying to get five minutes a piece? How
00:22:03 --> 00:22:07 do you love keep your love for acting
00:22:07 --> 00:22:09 alive when everybody and everything
00:22:09 --> 00:22:11 needs a piece of you, if you get what
00:22:11 --> 00:22:12 I'm saying?
00:22:12 --> 00:22:17 >> My family is very engaged in my acting
00:22:17 --> 00:22:19 >> and they have been
00:22:19 --> 00:22:22 um full circle moment. When I was
00:22:22 --> 00:22:24 younger, my mom worked in the casino.
00:22:24 --> 00:22:26 she couldn't get off. You know, casino
00:22:26 --> 00:22:29 workers is open 24 hours, right? My mom
00:22:29 --> 00:22:31 wasn't home with me on holidays, let
00:22:31 --> 00:22:32 alone,
00:22:32 --> 00:22:34 >> you know what I mean? Just just being
00:22:34 --> 00:22:37 able to do things. And once she retired,
00:22:37 --> 00:22:40 she moved here. So, she's a lot of help
00:22:40 --> 00:22:43 with me with my children. And in doing
00:22:43 --> 00:22:46 so, like my son, even before he went to
00:22:46 --> 00:22:48 college and now that he's home, you
00:22:48 --> 00:22:50 know, he reads with me most of the time.
00:22:50 --> 00:22:52 Yesterday, I just turned in an audition.
00:22:52 --> 00:22:54 Thank you, Jara. My daughter, my
00:22:54 --> 00:22:55 daughter read with me,
00:22:55 --> 00:22:56 >> okay?
00:22:56 --> 00:22:58 >> And and she's brutal.
00:22:58 --> 00:22:59 >> She's like, "Oh, no. We need to do that
00:22:59 --> 00:23:02 again. I [laughter] I don't know what
00:23:02 --> 00:23:03 she was do. We need to do that again."
00:23:03 --> 00:23:06 My son's a little nicer about it. But,
00:23:06 --> 00:23:09 um, they're all engaged in it. And Corey
00:23:09 --> 00:23:10 used to act. She used to act and
00:23:10 --> 00:23:13 Jaylen's done some stuff. So, I have the
00:23:13 --> 00:23:16 family involved and I I I think that's a
00:23:16 --> 00:23:17 good thing.
00:23:17 --> 00:23:17 >> Yeah.
00:23:17 --> 00:23:19 >> Yeah. They all assist with me and they
00:23:19 --> 00:23:20 all help. So,
00:23:20 --> 00:23:23 >> it's wonderful. Yeah.
00:23:23 --> 00:23:25 Okay. So, Carrie, so
00:23:25 --> 00:23:25 >> yes.
00:23:25 --> 00:23:26 >> Gotta be honest about this part since
00:23:26 --> 00:23:28 you're a part of the Avery Agency
00:23:28 --> 00:23:29 family.
00:23:29 --> 00:23:29 >> Yes.
00:23:29 --> 00:23:31 >> I gotta ask you something. If you
00:23:31 --> 00:23:31 >> Okay.
00:23:31 --> 00:23:34 >> If you could have your wish that Jared
00:23:34 --> 00:23:37 could make happen for you tomorrow and
00:23:37 --> 00:23:39 don't say a million dollars cuz we
00:23:39 --> 00:23:41 already working on that one. Okay.
00:23:41 --> 00:23:44 >> Oh, I love it. Listen, we all winning.
00:23:44 --> 00:23:47 >> Yeah. What kind of opportunity would you
00:23:47 --> 00:23:49 let industry see a side of Carrie Bowwin
00:23:49 --> 00:23:52 that no one has seen just yet? Jared
00:23:52 --> 00:23:55 knows I send her I manifest things and I
00:23:55 --> 00:23:58 send them to her and she's like I love
00:23:58 --> 00:24:04 it. So the two um things that are always
00:24:04 --> 00:24:06 that have been in my heart within the
00:24:06 --> 00:24:10 last well one probably for the last 10
00:24:10 --> 00:24:13 years another one more recently. Um I
00:24:13 --> 00:24:15 would love to be a series regular on a
00:24:15 --> 00:24:16 different world
00:24:16 --> 00:24:18 >> and I also want to be a series regular
00:24:18 --> 00:24:22 on the power origins. I just I am a huge
00:24:22 --> 00:24:25 fan of the Power series. Power Origins
00:24:25 --> 00:24:28 is coming out. Jar knows I bug her about
00:24:28 --> 00:24:31 both of these. Like I'm like, "Look,
00:24:31 --> 00:24:32 Jar,
00:24:32 --> 00:24:34 >> can't you see me? I'll take a picture."
00:24:34 --> 00:24:35 And I send it. I'm like, "We're going to
00:24:35 --> 00:24:37 manifest this, aren't we?"
00:24:37 --> 00:24:40 >> She's like, "I love you, Carrie." A
00:24:40 --> 00:24:43 >> So, yes, she knows my heart's desires
00:24:43 --> 00:24:47 and you know, um it was a blessing that
00:24:47 --> 00:24:49 she connected me as well with Rock
00:24:49 --> 00:24:51 Talent. So, you know, I'm with the
00:24:51 --> 00:24:53 Chicago agency now and that's turned out
00:24:53 --> 00:24:56 to be pretty spectacular as well.
00:24:56 --> 00:24:57 >> Awesome. Awesome.
00:24:57 --> 00:24:58 >> So, yeah.
00:24:58 --> 00:25:00 >> Yeah. So, okay, we gonna have a little
00:25:00 --> 00:25:02 fun. So, we talked about career
00:25:02 --> 00:25:04 experiences and all the different hats
00:25:04 --> 00:25:06 that you wear, but now I want to find
00:25:06 --> 00:25:08 out just how crazy you really are. So,
00:25:08 --> 00:25:09 because [laughter] I know your
00:25:09 --> 00:25:11 personality and I already know you're
00:25:11 --> 00:25:14 not going you're um you're gonna not
00:25:14 --> 00:25:15 going to make this easy for me. So,
00:25:15 --> 00:25:16 we're gonna play a game.
00:25:16 --> 00:25:17 >> Okay.
00:25:17 --> 00:25:20 >> Called I'd rather. So, you have two
00:25:20 --> 00:25:21 choices.
00:25:21 --> 00:25:23 Um, you have to pick one.
00:25:23 --> 00:25:24 >> Okay?
00:25:24 --> 00:25:27 >> And no explaining your way out of it. No
00:25:27 --> 00:25:29 calling your agent and no pleading fit.
00:25:29 --> 00:25:31 So, you kind of got to answer. So,
00:25:31 --> 00:25:32 ready?
00:25:32 --> 00:25:33 >> Okay. Let's go.
00:25:34 --> 00:25:36 >> First one. I'd rather accidentally call
00:25:36 --> 00:25:39 Tyler Perry daddy during an audition or
00:25:39 --> 00:25:42 accidentally call Samuel L. Jackson
00:25:42 --> 00:25:45 grandpa on set.
00:25:45 --> 00:25:47 Call Tyler Perry daddy at in an
00:25:47 --> 00:25:51 audition. [laughter]
00:25:51 --> 00:25:55 Okay. Okay. I'd rather have my entire
00:25:55 --> 00:25:58 Google search history read aloud at a
00:25:58 --> 00:26:01 casting session or have my last 10 text
00:26:01 --> 00:26:04 messages displayed on a movie screen at
00:26:04 --> 00:26:07 a premiere.
00:26:07 --> 00:26:09 >> Have my last 10 text messages displayed
00:26:09 --> 00:26:12 on a on a [laughter] movie. Yeah.
00:26:12 --> 00:26:15 >> Yeah. I'll be googling some crazy stuff.
00:26:15 --> 00:26:18 So, yeah.
00:26:18 --> 00:26:20 >> Okay. Okay. Here's one.
00:26:20 --> 00:26:20 >> Okay.
00:26:20 --> 00:26:22 >> I'd rather play a character who gets
00:26:22 --> 00:26:25 slapped by Angela Basset in every
00:26:25 --> 00:26:28 episode or a character who gets cursed
00:26:28 --> 00:26:30 out by Samuel Jackson Samuel Jackson in
00:26:30 --> 00:26:33 every scene.
00:26:33 --> 00:26:36 >> Probably cursed out by Samuel Jackson in
00:26:36 --> 00:26:38 every cursed out.
00:26:38 --> 00:26:41 >> Yeah. Because the the the smacking after
00:26:41 --> 00:26:44 a while, you know what I mean? Like
00:26:44 --> 00:26:45 [laughter]
00:26:45 --> 00:26:47 >> I'll be like, "Okay, now wait a second.
00:26:47 --> 00:26:51 That was a little hard. [laughter]
00:26:51 --> 00:26:53 Be easy now."
00:26:53 --> 00:26:57 >> Right. Right. Funny. Okay. I'd rather
00:26:57 --> 00:26:59 show up to an audition wearing two
00:26:59 --> 00:27:02 completely different shoes or discover
00:27:02 --> 00:27:04 halfway through your audition, halfway
00:27:04 --> 00:27:06 through your audition, that your wig is
00:27:06 --> 00:27:09 sliding backwards. Oh, two different
00:27:09 --> 00:27:11 shoes.
00:27:11 --> 00:27:13 [laughter]
00:27:13 --> 00:27:15 >> Two different You can find humor in
00:27:15 --> 00:27:16 that. Right.
00:27:16 --> 00:27:17 >> Right. Right.
00:27:17 --> 00:27:19 >> It depends on what you do with it cuz
00:27:19 --> 00:27:21 cuz a cast and director might be like
00:27:21 --> 00:27:23 that, you know, they like to see your
00:27:23 --> 00:27:24 personality.
00:27:24 --> 00:27:25 >> That's right. That's true.
00:27:25 --> 00:27:28 >> The wig thing. Uh-uh. Uhuh. [laughter]
00:27:28 --> 00:27:29 >> No, we're not doing that.
00:27:29 --> 00:27:31 >> No. Look.
00:27:31 --> 00:27:35 >> All right. Okay. Just a few more. I I'd
00:27:35 --> 00:27:38 rather win an Oscar and trip go and trip
00:27:38 --> 00:27:40 going up the stairs
00:27:40 --> 00:27:43 >> or win an Emmy and accidentally thank
00:27:43 --> 00:27:46 your ex-husband instead of your agent.
00:27:46 --> 00:27:51 >> Oh, I rather trip an Oscar. [laughter]
00:27:51 --> 00:27:53 >> I want to thank no exes that ain't have
00:27:53 --> 00:27:55 nothing to do with my Uhuh.
00:27:55 --> 00:27:57 >> I know, right?
00:27:57 --> 00:27:59 >> Nope. [laughter]
00:27:59 --> 00:28:00 >> Okay,
00:28:00 --> 00:28:03 >> Oscar. I'd rather have to kiss an actor
00:28:03 --> 00:28:06 with terrible breath for 20 second takes
00:28:06 --> 00:28:09 or do a dramatic crying scene while
00:28:09 --> 00:28:15 somebody keeps making noises off camera.
00:28:15 --> 00:28:18 Probably do a dramatic crying scene
00:28:18 --> 00:28:19 while somebody's make So you're
00:28:19 --> 00:28:21 basically saying stay focused, right?
00:28:21 --> 00:28:23 Trying to stay focused. Yeah, I would do
00:28:23 --> 00:28:24 that.
00:28:24 --> 00:28:27 >> Yeah. Yeah. [clears throat]
00:28:27 --> 00:28:30 Not the 20. No, [laughter]
00:28:30 --> 00:28:32 no nasty breath.
00:28:32 --> 00:28:33 >> No nasty breath.
00:28:33 --> 00:28:35 >> I mean, it happens. Listen, it's
00:28:35 --> 00:28:36 happened before.
00:28:36 --> 00:28:38 >> Oh my gosh.
00:28:38 --> 00:28:41 Okay. I'd rather have I'd rather have
00:28:41 --> 00:28:44 your agent accidentally
00:28:44 --> 00:28:47 uh send your grocery list to a casting
00:28:47 --> 00:28:49 director
00:28:49 --> 00:28:51 >> or have your agent accidentally submit
00:28:51 --> 00:28:54 your worst audition tape for your dream
00:28:54 --> 00:28:54 role.
00:28:54 --> 00:28:57 >> Oo, send that grocery list.
00:28:57 --> 00:28:59 >> Send that list. Send that grocery list.
00:28:59 --> 00:29:02 >> See all of that bad stuff. I mean,
00:29:02 --> 00:29:04 [laughter]
00:29:04 --> 00:29:06 >> send that grocery list. Listen, we can't
00:29:06 --> 00:29:09 be sending bad auditions for for my
00:29:09 --> 00:29:12 dream rolls. We can't do that.
00:29:12 --> 00:29:14 [laughter]
00:29:14 --> 00:29:17 >> Okay. They Look, I don't care about all
00:29:17 --> 00:29:19 that. I all that wine and stuff. They
00:29:19 --> 00:29:21 might see all that, but that's okay. I
00:29:21 --> 00:29:23 just just do the other thing.
00:29:23 --> 00:29:24 >> It's okay. I don't I don't drink, so
00:29:24 --> 00:29:25 it's fine.
00:29:25 --> 00:29:27 >> There you go. It's okay.
00:29:27 --> 00:29:29 >> Okay, [laughter] last one. Last one.
00:29:29 --> 00:29:31 >> Okay, this is fun.
00:29:31 --> 00:29:33 >> I'd rather star in a blockbuster movie
00:29:33 --> 00:29:36 where nobody recognizes you under all
00:29:36 --> 00:29:39 the makeup or become famous for
00:29:39 --> 00:29:40 ridiculous commercial where your
00:29:40 --> 00:29:44 catchphrase follows you everywhere.
00:29:44 --> 00:29:46 >> Ah,
00:29:46 --> 00:29:49 probably the blockbuster. The
00:29:49 --> 00:29:51 blockbuster movie. Yeah, because that'll
00:29:51 --> 00:29:52 that's money.
00:29:52 --> 00:29:54 >> That's right. That's right. I don't care
00:29:54 --> 00:29:56 if you
00:29:56 --> 00:29:58 >> Yeah. They'll know when we, you know,
00:29:58 --> 00:29:59 whoever's with me, they'll they'll know.
00:29:59 --> 00:30:02 Stay back and and read the credits.
00:30:02 --> 00:30:03 >> Awesome.
00:30:03 --> 00:30:05 >> But I do like commercials like that.
00:30:05 --> 00:30:07 Like that's one of the things that I
00:30:07 --> 00:30:10 have found even when I've had and then I
00:30:10 --> 00:30:13 don't I don't like to say a small role
00:30:13 --> 00:30:15 cuz no role is small,
00:30:15 --> 00:30:15 >> right?
00:30:15 --> 00:30:18 >> But I always say something that sticks
00:30:18 --> 00:30:20 that's important. You know, like for
00:30:20 --> 00:30:22 instance with Skinned, it was like she's
00:30:22 --> 00:30:25 just so dark. That was everywhere. That
00:30:25 --> 00:30:28 was on radios. That was I love uh
00:30:28 --> 00:30:30 >> I love having those moments and those
00:30:30 --> 00:30:31 opportunities.
00:30:31 --> 00:30:32 >> Yeah,
00:30:32 --> 00:30:33 >> I do. Mhm.
00:30:33 --> 00:30:35 >> So, look, before we get out of here,
00:30:35 --> 00:30:38 what what are you working on or what
00:30:38 --> 00:30:42 would you um like to say to to aspiring
00:30:42 --> 00:30:44 actors
00:30:44 --> 00:30:46 um that go through some of the same
00:30:46 --> 00:30:48 things that you've gone through or have
00:30:48 --> 00:30:49 gone through?
00:30:49 --> 00:30:52 >> Yes, God is faithful.
00:30:52 --> 00:30:56 >> God is faithful. Um I've been doing this
00:30:56 --> 00:31:00 for a [snorts] really, really long time.
00:31:00 --> 00:31:02 And when it's in you, it never leaves
00:31:02 --> 00:31:05 you. you may take a break. Life happens.
00:31:05 --> 00:31:08 You know, I'm a single mom. I've had to,
00:31:08 --> 00:31:10 you know, I take care of my family, my
00:31:10 --> 00:31:13 mother as well. Um, life happens. But
00:31:13 --> 00:31:15 when it's in you, it's in you and it
00:31:15 --> 00:31:17 will never leave. And it's so true. You
00:31:18 --> 00:31:19 think it's cliche when people say just
00:31:19 --> 00:31:21 keep going. Just put keep putting in the
00:31:21 --> 00:31:23 work. Keep going and keep putting in the
00:31:23 --> 00:31:26 work because it's going to land. It's
00:31:26 --> 00:31:29 going to happen. And it may be at, you
00:31:29 --> 00:31:30 know, it may be something that you never
00:31:30 --> 00:31:32 even really thought of. I mean, I've
00:31:32 --> 00:31:34 done prank shows. Like, I have
00:31:34 --> 00:31:38 experience teleprompter, ear wigs,
00:31:38 --> 00:31:39 sports, you know what I mean? Like, just
00:31:39 --> 00:31:42 there's just so much and you just don't
00:31:42 --> 00:31:45 know when or how it's going to come. But
00:31:45 --> 00:31:47 when you are faithful to the art, the
00:31:47 --> 00:31:49 art is faithful to you.
00:31:49 --> 00:31:52 >> Got it. Love it. Love it. Thank you,
00:31:52 --> 00:31:53 Carrie. Thank you.
