Nicki Minaj’s Surprising Turn: From Rap Queen to Trump Supporter

Nicki Minaj’s Surprising Turn: From Rap Queen to Trump Supporter

Hosts Dave and Leonard break down this week’s viral headlines: Nicki Minaj’s public support for Donald Trump and the reactions it sparked, a Cleveland pastor’s controversial announcement of a second wife during service, and a 3-year-old soccer prodigy allegedly removed for being "too good."

They also discuss a Caitlin Clark sneaker ad that raised questions about representation, local election stakes, and a Culture Check spotlight on Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first African American woman to earn a U.S. medical degree.

00:17 --> 00:20 All right, y'all, get ready for another edition of
00:20 --> 00:24 News and Trends with your host Dave
00:24 --> 00:25 and Lynn.
00:35 --> 00:39 Welcome, welcome, welcome to News and Trends with Dave and Len.
00:39 --> 00:42 This is one of your hosts, Mr. Dave Coker, promoter,
00:42 --> 00:45 event planner, and all-around good guy,
00:46 --> 00:50 hanging out with my partner, Mr. Leonard Young. But just wanted
00:51 --> 00:55 to remind everyone that we are part of the MBG
00:55 --> 00:59 Podcast Network, where you can find this show along with a host of other great
00:59 --> 01:03 shows. And if you don't get a chance to catch
01:03 --> 01:07 us on our regular nights of Tuesday nights, you can always
01:07 --> 01:11 listen to us on the playback of this show on
01:12 --> 01:15 Saturday mornings at 10 AM on Internet
01:15 --> 01:19 Radio 101.5 The Fever with,
01:19 --> 01:23 uh, our buddy DJ Ribs and his partner
01:23 --> 01:27 Mr. Bobby Keys. That's 101.5 The Fever,
01:27 --> 01:31 and that is on Saturday
01:32 --> 01:35 mornings at 10 AM. Okay,
01:35 --> 01:39 I'm hanging out with my partner, Mr. Leonard Young. What's going on, sir?
01:39 --> 01:42 Hey Dave, everything is good. This is Leonard Young,
01:42 --> 01:44 CEO of National Black Guide,
01:45 --> 01:49 DelawareBlack.com, black media specialist, all-around good
01:49 --> 01:53 guy. How goes it, Dave? Man, it's a wonderful day in the neighborhood,
01:53 --> 01:56 man. Um, here we are
01:56 --> 01:58 a couple days away from, um,
01:59 --> 02:03 daylight savings again, right? Uh, what is that? Is it
02:03 --> 02:07 daylight or standard time? Eastern Standard Time, right? Oh shit, the heck have I known?
02:08 --> 02:13 I always forget them. Is daylight saving time is
02:13 --> 02:17 during the winter or is it during the summer? Or Eastern Standard
02:17 --> 02:19 Time. I forget which— I forget how it goes now.
02:21 --> 02:24 But anyway, one of those is coming up this weekend,
02:24 --> 02:28 so where the time goes back an hour. I think
02:29 --> 02:32 this is supposedly supposed to be the last one. Are you— um,
02:33 --> 02:36 all right, let me see. Are you looking it up to see which one is
02:36 --> 02:40 which? I was not because I think
02:40 --> 02:43 so. I guess it really doesn't matter. No concern
02:44 --> 02:47 to me. Yeah, well, you get to get that extra hour of sleep, you know.
02:47 --> 02:51 So if you have a busy weekend this weekend, you, you could, you could sleep
02:52 --> 02:55 a little bit longer. There you go, right? Um,
02:55 --> 02:58 but, um, but other than, you know, it's been,
02:58 --> 03:02 um, the weather's been nice though. I mean, we can't complain about the weather,
03:02 --> 03:06 I guess, right? Yeah. Yeah. So you've been getting a lot of stuff
03:06 --> 03:08 done outdoors down at the campground?
03:08 --> 03:12 Nope. Well, they, you know, I mean,
03:12 --> 03:15 I, I think it's just You know, the campground just seemed like one of those
03:15 --> 03:18 places where never— I mean, just probably people listening,
03:18 --> 03:21 everyone got busy lives, but there's never enough time in the day,
03:22 --> 03:25 you know. You know what I mean?
03:25 --> 03:28 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, have the leaves started falling
03:28 --> 03:32 and all of that? Yeah, they probably started falling at the beginning of October.
03:33 --> 03:36 Okay. All right, all right. And what do you
03:37 --> 03:39 do about the leaves? Do you guys rake them, or do you guys mulch them,
03:39 --> 03:42 or what do you do? Um, so we actually,
03:43 --> 03:46 we kind of, um, you know, with a, uh, leaf blower,
03:46 --> 03:49 we kind of blow them, rake them up,
03:49 --> 03:53 collect them, and then we kind of just dump them back in the woods somewhere.
03:55 --> 03:59 Okay. I don't know if I would have said
03:59 --> 04:03 that live, but yeah. Well, I mean, Dave, you'll be surprised. I mean,
04:03 --> 04:07 probably just because it's, you know, it's all trees. Those leaves,
04:07 --> 04:10 oh my goodness. Like, I can imagine.
04:10 --> 04:14 Yeah, every year the leaves are a problem. I wish there was a company
04:14 --> 04:18 that could, um, come and just— well,
04:18 --> 04:21 they probably charge too much unless they had some special— cut the trees down?
04:22 --> 04:26 No, no, no, no, no, no, no, to get up all the leaves. They don't
04:26 --> 04:30 have— I thought they do have like land— don't the landscaping
04:30 --> 04:34 and lawn companies, don't they have people to take care of that
04:34 --> 04:36 kind of stuff? Yeah, but you know, um, they have them for like residential And
04:36 --> 04:40 you know, at the campground, we probably need that service twice a month,
04:40 --> 04:44 and I, I already know that it would be expensive.
04:45 --> 04:48 Yeah, it'd be expensive. Yeah. Okay.
04:49 --> 04:53 Um, you need one of them big— look, you need
04:53 --> 04:56 one of them, uh, oversized, uh,
04:56 --> 04:59 vacuum cleaners that you can ride and just ride along and just,
05:00 --> 05:04 you know. And, and, and to be honest, we have, we have one.
05:04 --> 05:08 It's, um, like a leaf vacuum. But the only thing is the
05:08 --> 05:12 sticks and the leaves get, you know, caught up.
05:12 --> 05:16 Oh yeah, yeah. So yeah, that's— yeah,
05:16 --> 05:20 that's another thing because you gotta worry about branches and stuff like that. Yeah,
05:20 --> 05:24 yeah. Wow. Okay, well, yeah, that's a never-ending story there.
05:25 --> 05:28 Yeah, definitely. So Dave, um, you know, you got to plan your weekend to come
05:29 --> 05:32 down to the campground to kind of get some of that action. I'll pick
05:33 --> 05:36 up a couple leaves and start drawing, uh, pictures. Remember what you used to do?
05:36 --> 05:39 Trace the leaves on under the paper.
05:40 --> 05:43 As long as you pick them up when you finish and,
05:43 --> 05:47 yeah, put them in the bags. Oh, okay. Yeah, well,
05:47 --> 05:50 we'll see how— we'll see how well that works out. So,
05:51 --> 05:53 um, but other than that, um,
05:53 --> 05:57 everything else okay? Yeah, everything else okay.
05:57 --> 06:00 No, no complaints. Okay. All right, good, good,
06:01 --> 06:05 good. Um, well, I mean You
06:05 --> 06:06 know, it's, uh,
06:08 --> 06:12 man. Oh well, you know, next week is our another
06:12 --> 06:16 anniversary, man. Let's talk about that. Yeah, November 3rd coming
06:16 --> 06:20 up. Uh, that'll be starting our year number 6.
06:21 --> 06:25 Um, we're doing this podcast, um, News and Trends with Dave
06:25 --> 06:28 and Lynn. Whoever thought it that it would last this long?
06:29 --> 06:33 Uh, I've been carrying this guy for a long time, folks. I don't know,
06:33 --> 06:36 I, I Sometimes, sometimes it's easy.
06:37 --> 06:40 Sometimes I have to pull them, you know, because like a dog,
06:41 --> 06:43 you know, when the dog doesn't want to go anywhere, you know, you have to
06:43 --> 06:46 pull the— you got to pull the chain every now and then. Yep. So just
06:46 --> 06:49 let everybody know, I just muted Dave's microphone because he
06:50 --> 06:53 had to carry me so much his microphone went off.
06:55 --> 06:59 And Dave, you know, so this is the first time I actually muted your microphone.
06:59 --> 07:01 You, you actually had to unmute it back.
07:03 --> 07:06 I— so when, when, when we talk about, you know,
07:07 --> 07:11 caring, yeah, um, you know, it— if Dave
07:11 --> 07:15 goes out, you know what happened. Yeah. Okay. All right. He got dropped. Yeah,
07:15 --> 07:18 I know. There you go. Uh, you know, that's the only thing when,
07:19 --> 07:22 when, when you have people that have access to the mute button,
07:23 --> 07:26 that's what happens. Yeah. You know, but a lot of people have been feeling that
07:26 --> 07:29 I had access to it all these 5+ years. Oh my goodness.
07:30 --> 07:32 There you go. There you go. All right. So,
07:33 --> 07:37 but anyway, well, I think we got some really juicy
07:37 --> 07:40 topics to talk about tonight. They've been much talked about already,
07:40 --> 07:44 but I thought it'd be a good, a good time to
07:44 --> 07:47 kind of get our spin on these stories because I'm sure
07:48 --> 07:51 a couple of these stories a lot of you guys have already heard.
07:52 --> 07:55 Um, but well, probably heard all of them,
07:55 --> 07:58 but I want to start with, uh Nicki
07:58 --> 08:02 and the president, our favorite
08:03 --> 08:08 new couple, I guess. Um, Nicki Minaj and
08:08 --> 08:12 President Donald Trump. Now, for you guys
08:12 --> 08:14 that have been under a rock,
08:15 --> 08:20 that don't know, uh, Donald Trump recently
08:20 --> 08:23 held a rally in,
08:23 --> 08:27 um, Michigan. And,
08:27 --> 08:30 um, you know,
08:31 --> 08:33 Nicki Minaj spoke on his behalf.
08:34 --> 08:38 Now, what's so interesting about this
08:39 --> 08:43 whole thing was they show Nicki Minaj
08:43 --> 08:47 coming off of Air Force One. And did you see her
08:48 --> 08:51 coming off the plane? No, I, I missed that. Okay.
08:52 --> 08:55 Um, she walks off the plane. First of all, she's— I guess because
08:55 --> 08:59 she had these high heels on, she was having— she was very cautious coming
08:59 --> 09:01 down the steps. She's holding on to the,
09:03 --> 09:06 the banister of the stairs from the plane for dear life.
09:08 --> 09:12 Um, excuse me. And then she gets down to the bottom
09:12 --> 09:16 and she's walking and she's like First of all, for,
09:16 --> 09:20 for those of us who've been paying, you know, knowing Nikki
09:21 --> 09:24 for all these years or whatever, to see Nikki in this,
09:25 --> 09:29 the way they have her dressed up there, they have a real demure
09:29 --> 09:32 and, um, you know, she seems
09:32 --> 09:35 almost reverent of Donald Trump.
09:36 --> 09:40 When she comes off the plane, she's walking, she's got her hands folded, and she's
09:41 --> 09:44 like really in a, like, almost in an
09:44 --> 09:48 obedient, like, factor as she's taking her steps to
09:48 --> 09:51 wherever, to where she's going, and Trump is behind her and
09:51 --> 09:55 so forth and so forth. Then they show them at the rally.
09:56 --> 09:58 Um, actually,
10:01 --> 10:05 if you don't mind, can you
10:05 --> 10:07 play that link of what he had to say,
10:07 --> 10:11 because I think it's a few minutes
10:11 --> 10:14 long for those people that might not have heard it. All right,
10:14 --> 10:18 let's see, because you know you pull this off of
10:18 --> 10:21 Fox News, which is banned on my computer, but let,
10:22 --> 10:25 let me see what I can do for you. Okay. All right, so it says
10:25 --> 10:27 3 minutes 32 seconds, right? Yeah, yeah.
10:28 --> 10:30 Okay, you looking to play the whole thing? Yeah, go ahead and play it.
10:31 --> 10:34 Yeah. We have anything?
10:35 --> 10:37 Okay, I think that's it. Of course they got a commercial.
10:38 --> 10:38 Yeah,
10:42 --> 10:45 just listen to her demeanor too, for those people that are listening.
10:45 --> 10:47 Just pay attention to what she says.
10:51 --> 10:55 Wait, I have a special person. You know who the special person—
10:55 --> 10:59 so they said, you know, I don't like being overshadowed.
11:00 --> 11:03 And this woman overshadows me, and I'm angry about it.
11:04 --> 11:07 They're going crazy over her. The queen of rap,
11:08 --> 11:11 Nicki Minaj. She's been with me from day one.
11:30 --> 11:34 We love Trump! We love Trump!
11:35 --> 11:39 We love— we love— Michigan,
11:39 --> 11:40 make some noise!
11:43 --> 11:46 I said Michigan, make some noise!
11:51 --> 11:54 I am so honored to be working with this president.
11:54 --> 11:57 He represents resilience. You know,
11:58 --> 12:02 so many people were maybe giving
12:02 --> 12:05 up a little bit, a little bit hopeless. And since he's come
12:06 --> 12:08 back, he's changed the energy of our country.
12:09 --> 12:13 And he's given us a future to
12:13 --> 12:16 look forward to, a brighter future for us and our children. So let's make
12:16 --> 12:17 some noise for this great man.
12:20 --> 12:21 I love him so much.
12:25 --> 12:28 And when I say Mike, you say Rogers.
12:28 --> 12:31 Mike. Mike.
12:32 --> 12:35 When I say John, you say James.
12:35 --> 12:37 John. James.
12:39 --> 12:43 Michigan, God bless you. We, we really
12:43 --> 12:47 need all of these great people to be elected.
12:47 --> 12:50 Because this is a major turning point for our country.
12:51 --> 12:55 And when you're in major states like
12:55 --> 12:59 Michigan, we need this to be a leader in
12:59 --> 13:02 the movement that's happening right now. We need this place to lead in
13:02 --> 13:05 the movement, right? And we're not
13:06 --> 13:10 gonna give up because we want our children to grow up
13:10 --> 13:13 in a place where we can be proud of. We don't want our children to
13:13 --> 13:15 be bombarded with sex changes, right?
13:17 --> 13:20 We don't want that for our children. We want people to leave the children alone,
13:21 --> 13:24 leave them out of it, right? So, President Trump,
13:24 --> 13:28 it is an honor to stand with you every single time, and I will continue
13:28 --> 13:32 to support you forever and ever. If you run
13:32 --> 13:34 again, I will support you again.
13:49 --> 13:54 All right, you can go ahead
13:54 --> 14:00 and stop it. So she
14:00 --> 14:02 gets up there and she does her little thing.
14:05 --> 14:08 Now it's, it's what's so interesting about the whole thing is, you know,
14:08 --> 14:10 we remember Nicki when she first came out.
14:12 --> 14:16 Nicki was always ready to fight with another rapper or whatever,
14:16 --> 14:19 you know. She, she always had— she always was ready.
14:20 --> 14:24 She was ready to go at it, bars, you know. She definitely didn't
14:24 --> 14:25 mind beefing with somebody.
14:27 --> 14:31 To say all this she just said, you know, how she loves Trump
14:31 --> 14:35 and all of this kind of often. And then she's gonna throw the little
14:35 --> 14:38 dig in there about, you know, about children and sex changes
14:39 --> 14:42 and whatever. Now you're doing all this for
14:42 --> 14:46 this man and you're pledging your
14:46 --> 14:50 allegiance to him, but you know,
14:50 --> 14:55 of course the backdrop to this whole thing— Dickie can't vote and
14:55 --> 14:58 her husband is a sex offender, and her husband is a sex offender.
15:00 --> 15:04 And her brother is serving 25 years for, for being
15:04 --> 15:06 a sex offender, um, for my— with minors.
15:08 --> 15:12 So, um, you know, for child
15:12 --> 15:16 pornography and all of that stuff. So, and you're,
15:18 --> 15:22 you know, of course you're, you're, you're, you're out here
15:22 --> 15:25 parading yourself around for this man who also
15:26 --> 15:28 has been called a pedophile and everything else.
15:29 --> 15:34 So it's really interesting to see where
15:34 --> 15:38 she is and where she came from
15:39 --> 15:40 to be in this moment now.
15:42 --> 15:45 What did you think when you saw all of this? So the
15:46 --> 15:49 first thing I thought when I was watching her speak and
15:49 --> 15:53 I was looking at the white people in the background, I was just thinking about
15:53 --> 15:57 all the old ladies, the old white ladies who probably went home
15:57 --> 16:00 that evening and said, She speaks so well.
16:00 --> 16:03 Yeah, I'm sure. For a Black person. Yeah, I'm sure. Um,
16:03 --> 16:07 I don't know, Dave. I mean, to be honest,
16:07 --> 16:11 she, she has done a 180. The other thing I was thinking too is if
16:11 --> 16:14 she dropped a new album or had like a concert tour,
16:15 --> 16:18 what would the reaction be like? What— because, you know, sometimes we
16:19 --> 16:23 are great for talking about people but then supporting them on the back side.
16:23 --> 16:27 So I'm curious if, you know,
16:27 --> 16:31 many of her— what, the Barbz, or, you know, her fan base—
16:32 --> 16:36 if they're still rocking with her. You know, like, if she did an album,
16:36 --> 16:39 if she did a tour, is she gonna sell out?
16:40 --> 16:42 You know, are there some rappers who would, um,
16:43 --> 16:46 not want to perform with her? You know, not go on tour with her?
16:46 --> 16:50 You know, like, would we hurt
16:50 --> 16:53 her pockets? You know, right now, you know, we're probably Twitter fingers and
16:53 --> 16:57 all that, but Would we put our money where our mouth is?
16:59 --> 17:03 Well, let's ask this. I mean, you go, you go to concerts and
17:03 --> 17:07 so forth and so forth. Would you or your
17:07 --> 17:12 wife, would you guys spend money on a Nicki Minaj concert?
17:12 --> 17:15 No, but you know, I think we're a little bit different, but like,
17:16 --> 17:20 I'm thinking about like the average 20-year-old
17:20 --> 17:23 or 30-year-old. And they don't care. Yeah.
17:23 --> 17:27 And Dave, you don't gotta worry because I— even if she wasn't Trump, I'm probably
17:27 --> 17:30 not going to Nicki Minaj concert. You know, that's just not my thing.
17:31 --> 17:34 But I mean, but, but you are right. If my wife win and I,
17:34 --> 17:38 you know, I mean, I could see going. But yeah,
17:38 --> 17:40 so I mean, that, that's one thing I am curious about.
17:42 --> 17:45 Yeah, that, that, yeah, that's true. I mean, I can see your point.
17:46 --> 17:49 Um, It would be interesting to see
17:50 --> 17:54 if the— if she still has the box office appeal to
17:54 --> 17:57 be able to get people to come out, right, without having
17:58 --> 18:01 that you're supporting this man,
18:03 --> 18:06 I can't support you type thing going on, you know.
18:06 --> 18:10 So, um, and it's,
18:10 --> 18:13 you know, and you said she did a 180.
18:14 --> 18:17 She's done a whole 360. I mean, you know, because this is not
18:17 --> 18:21 the Nicki that we knew 10 years ago, right? You know what I mean?
18:22 --> 18:25 You know, because that's not— you know, she came out fiery. She,
18:26 --> 18:29 she was, she was— she wanted it from anybody that came her
18:29 --> 18:33 way, you know. So, um, to see her
18:33 --> 18:37 in this whole look— they got her dressed, dressing up in suits,
18:37 --> 18:40 and, you know, and she's really,
18:41 --> 18:44 like I said, the whole thing of when she's walking off the plane
18:45 --> 18:48 and walking the, the, the runway and
18:49 --> 18:52 everything, she's got her hands folded and she's got— she's
18:52 --> 18:55 walking with her head down, like almost reverent, like,
18:56 --> 19:00 you know. And I'm like, what is— what is going on here, you know?
19:00 --> 19:03 So, but then after she
19:04 --> 19:06 gets up and speaks and he gets up there to speak.
19:07 --> 19:11 That's when Trump becomes Donald
19:11 --> 19:15 Trump again. And the other thing
19:15 --> 19:18 I thought that was just weird, she kept saying,
19:18 --> 19:21 I love President Trump. I love— I'm going to say,
19:21 --> 19:25 okay, I don't know. Do you really even know him like
19:25 --> 19:29 that? No. This is all about making sure her papers
19:29 --> 19:32 are clear. That's all this is about. And I'm
19:33 --> 19:35 sure she's making money off of it too. He's probably paying her,
19:36 --> 19:40 um, and, and, and plus he's able
19:40 --> 19:44 to, you know, because right now she's listed as a permanent resident
19:45 --> 19:50 when, you know, other people who
19:50 --> 19:53 would have probably been out the country, you know, because she's been,
19:53 --> 19:57 you know, she was here illegally for a long time and they hurried
19:58 --> 20:01 up and got that paperwork done to make her a permanent resident. Yeah, you know,
20:01 --> 20:04 but, um, she's not a citizen and she can't become a
20:04 --> 20:08 citizen because of her situation, you know.
20:08 --> 20:11 So, um, so Dave, remind everybody what her situation
20:11 --> 20:15 is. She's married to— she's married to a sex offender.
20:16 --> 20:19 Oh, so she can't become a citizen because— no, because of that. Yeah. Oh,
20:19 --> 20:23 okay. All right, gotcha. Yeah, see, they learn something
20:24 --> 20:27 new every day. Yep, she can't. But, um,
20:28 --> 20:31 like I said, she gets, you know, she gets done her little speech and then
20:31 --> 20:35 Trump gets up there and instead of just saying, thank you, Nikki,
20:35 --> 20:38 you know, for being supporting me and so forth and so forth,
20:39 --> 20:45 he said the following: I've
20:45 --> 20:48 never done that with a man before. Off the record,
20:49 --> 20:52 women, yes. Men, No,
20:52 --> 20:54 Trump said, by the way,
20:56 --> 20:59 I looked at one hell of a beautiful— you
21:00 --> 21:04 know, he said ass, you know. He said, I looked at one beautiful ass
21:04 --> 21:08 before, uh, a hell of a beautiful ass before
21:09 --> 21:14 Nicki Minaj. That's hard to miss, it's big, you know.
21:14 --> 21:18 He said that of the Pink Friday artist before saying,
21:18 --> 21:21 stand up. Making her stand up again so he can look at
21:22 --> 21:25 it again. And then he says,
21:25 --> 21:29 that's so hard to miss. After Minaj
21:29 --> 21:33 rose from her seat and waved to the crowd, Trump continued, I hope Nicki
21:33 --> 21:37 wasn't insulted, but we love Nicki and
21:38 --> 21:41 we've been with— and, and we've been with us for a long time.
21:41 --> 21:46 That's what she said. As she said, Nicki Minaj, after beating beefing
21:46 --> 21:49 with rap, um, rivals becomes Trump's number one
21:49 --> 21:51 fan. I mean, it's,
21:52 --> 21:56 you know, when you think about this, the man just insulted you and
21:57 --> 22:00 you don't realize that he just did that. He,
22:00 --> 22:04 he not, you know, it was a sexual assault.
22:06 --> 22:09 You know, people get fired for making comments like that. Well,
22:10 --> 22:11 indeed, not his first.
22:13 --> 22:16 Huh. Said it's not his first and not his last. Not his first,
22:16 --> 22:20 not his last, you know. And then he even made a
22:21 --> 22:24 reference to, you know, talk— he was making a reference to his wife. He said,
22:24 --> 22:27 yeah, he said, you know, he said, that's why I married, married my
22:28 --> 22:31 wife, because she got one too, you know, something like that, you know. And I
22:32 --> 22:35 was like, oh man, this guy, man.
22:35 --> 22:38 And then, you know, so funny because every time I see his wife, she just
22:39 --> 22:42 look like she despises him. She never smiles.
22:42 --> 22:46 She is not happy. And she's like,
22:46 --> 22:50 she— it's like she's every day— she's that person that kind of
22:50 --> 22:53 makes you think that every time each day comes,
22:54 --> 22:57 she takes a black magic marker and she crosses it,
22:57 --> 23:01 put an X on the calendar saying, okay, this many more days to go,
23:01 --> 23:04 you know? Because I'm sure after this,
23:04 --> 23:08 this term, she out. Oh yeah, I'm almost
23:08 --> 23:12 positive she out. You know, she— I mean,
23:12 --> 23:15 we have— we, we haven't even seen her since
23:16 --> 23:19 much since this term. You know, we saw more of her during
23:19 --> 23:23 the first time, but this term you haven't seen a lot of her.
23:23 --> 23:25 No, it's like they have her in the closet somewhere,
23:27 --> 23:30 but then she probably doesn't want to come out either. So, right, you know,
23:31 --> 23:34 so, but I, I was just saying to myself, I was just
23:35 --> 23:39 thinking to myself, okay, You just said that on TV
23:39 --> 23:43 everywhere, you know, whoever's covering
23:43 --> 23:47 this, this rally. And the people in the
23:47 --> 23:50 back, you see a few people kind of cringe a little bit, but,
23:50 --> 23:53 but because they're his supporters, they can't, they can't shake their head
23:54 --> 23:56 or anything like that. But you can see their faces change, like,
23:59 --> 24:03 you are so You, you,
24:03 --> 24:06 you guys, you don't realize that he just, he just
24:07 --> 24:10 sexually assaulted you on in front of all
24:10 --> 24:14 of these people, and you basically are nothing but a
24:14 --> 24:19 Black china doll to him that
24:19 --> 24:23 he has supporting him to show that he has Black friends.
24:23 --> 24:26 You might as well— that's what he, you know, he has Black friends.
24:28 --> 24:33 And all of you guys, the Tim Scotts, the, the Nicki
24:33 --> 24:37 Minajs, you know, all of these, these, you know, the Herschel Walkers,
24:37 --> 24:41 all you guys that come out and support him,
24:41 --> 24:44 you guys don't understand what he's doing? You can't
24:45 --> 24:48 be that stupid. Well, they can't be
24:49 --> 24:51 that stupid. Unfortunately, they can.
24:53 --> 24:56 And they have been, you know. Oh, I hope somebody,
24:57 --> 25:00 you know, I hope, I hope Nikki's not under some kind of spell or something
25:00 --> 25:04 like that, you know, right? But I just hope that somebody brings her back to
25:04 --> 25:08 reality and just say, Nikki, stop doing this, you know.
25:09 --> 25:13 Don't let that man continue to use you and, and say
25:13 --> 25:15 things like that about you, you know.
25:17 --> 25:21 You can't talk about her just supporting you and being
25:21 --> 25:25 one of the biggest, you know, she's, she's, she's got
25:26 --> 25:29 records and on top of records, and she's broken all
25:29 --> 25:33 kinds of, uh, you know, she's won all kinds of
25:33 --> 25:36 awards and, you know, done all type, you know, been on,
25:36 --> 25:40 you know, charted for, you know, with just about everything that she's done,
25:41 --> 25:43 and you're going to talk about her backside?
25:45 --> 25:46 That's what you're gonna do?
25:50 --> 25:53 We gotta do better, man. We really do. We gotta do better.
25:55 --> 25:58 So that's my story. That's my take on this. You got anything
25:58 --> 26:02 you want to add about that? No, I mean, I think you pretty
26:02 --> 26:05 much said it all. Yeah. Ah,
26:05 --> 26:08 Nikki, Nikki, Nikki, come on back. Come on home, Nikki. Come on home.
26:09 --> 26:10 You can come on. You can come on home.
26:12 --> 26:14 Okay, speaking of coming home,
26:15 --> 26:19 this has been everybody's favorite story, I guess, over the last few
26:23 --> 26:27 Um, now, okay, when we talk
26:27 --> 26:31 about this, I want to get your, your reaction
26:31 --> 26:35 to when you heard it or you saw the— because did you hear the story
26:35 --> 26:38 or did you see the video before you knew the story?
26:38 --> 26:42 So I— someone else was watching
26:42 --> 26:45 the video. I think my wife was watching the video, and I was hearing it
26:46 --> 26:49 on the backside. Okay. All right.
26:50 --> 26:53 So I want to, you know, after, after I, after I talk about it
26:54 --> 26:55 a little bit, I want to get your reaction,
26:58 --> 27:01 your initial reaction to the whole thing. Okay.
27:02 --> 27:04 All right. Okay,
27:05 --> 27:09 Cleveland pastor introduces husband's second
27:09 --> 27:10 wife at church.
27:12 --> 27:16 She introduced her husband's second wife from the pulpit during
27:16 --> 27:20 Sunday service at LifeWorks Church in
27:20 --> 27:24 Cleveland, Ohio. A co-pastor,
27:25 --> 27:29 Lydia Ford, in Cleveland Um,
27:30 --> 27:33 spoke to her congregation and she said,
27:35 --> 27:38 uh, that her and her husband
27:38 --> 27:42 Prophet Israel Ford are living in a
27:42 --> 27:46 polygamous— uh, no, she said a polygamous marriage.
27:47 --> 27:49 Okay. Um,
27:50 --> 27:54 my husband, our prophet, he has a second
27:54 --> 27:58 wife. Y'all all know her, y'all love her,
27:59 --> 28:03 y'all benefit from her ministry every week, she said
28:03 --> 28:07 before introducing fellow congregant Minister
28:07 --> 28:11 Shakayla as Prophet's wife and my sister
28:11 --> 28:15 in marriage. Some members clapped and cheered,
28:16 --> 28:20 others sat there stunned. Israel later posted
28:20 --> 28:24 on Instagram I would like to introduce the world to my second
28:24 --> 28:28 wife, Shakayla Ford. As a nation, we have been taught
28:28 --> 28:31 that a man should have one wife only.
28:32 --> 28:37 This is unbiblical, he said. He added that he
28:37 --> 28:41 has no plans to choose pleasing men, man over
28:41 --> 28:44 what God has revealed.
28:45 --> 28:49 Most pastors and Bible scholars point to 1
28:49 --> 28:52 Timothy Um, um, Timothy, uh,
28:52 --> 28:56 1 Timothy, um, 3, uh,
28:57 --> 29:01 chapter 3, verse 2, which says a church leader must
29:01 --> 29:05 be the husband of one wife. That is like one of the most popular
29:05 --> 29:09 passages from the Bible when it comes to this. The Fords
29:09 --> 29:12 clearly read it differently. Pastor Israel
29:12 --> 29:14 Ford— now this is some facts here.
29:16 --> 29:21 Self-proclaimed prophet of Lifeworks Church in Wickliffe,
29:22 --> 29:24 Ohio, which is just outside of Cleveland,
29:25 --> 29:29 sparked viral controversy after publicly announcing and
29:30 --> 29:33 introducing church member Mr.
29:33 --> 29:37 Shakayla Talley Ford as
29:37 --> 29:40 his second wife during a Sunday service on October 25th.
29:41 --> 29:45 Now, this— the announcement, it says Israel Ford's first
29:45 --> 29:49 wife and co-pastor Lydia Ford addressed the congregation and
29:49 --> 29:52 introduced Takayla, uh,
29:53 --> 29:56 as the second wife, um,
29:58 --> 30:02 and her own sister in marriage. Now, this is the
30:03 --> 30:06 rest of the story, you know, my favorite thing to say, the rest of the
30:06 --> 30:09 story. The daughter reference.
30:10 --> 30:14 In some surrounding discussions and footage of the setup,
30:14 --> 30:19 people noted or commented on how the dynamic— the
30:19 --> 30:22 dynamics of our past relationship
30:23 --> 30:27 involved calling or treating Shakayla under
30:27 --> 30:31 a spiritual mentee daughter-like context
30:31 --> 30:35 before the polygamous, um,
30:35 --> 30:38 dynamic became public. So he always referred
30:39 --> 30:40 to her as his daughter,
30:42 --> 30:45 and this has been going on for about 3
30:46 --> 30:49 or 4, 4 years, something like that.
30:50 --> 30:53 The secret dynamic. The trio revealed they had been living
30:53 --> 30:57 in a private polygamous marriage for nearly
30:57 --> 31:00 3 years before bringing it out in the open.
31:01 --> 31:05 How can the congregation
31:06 --> 31:10 not know what was going on, and why would they choose that particular
31:10 --> 31:13 day to bring it out? We'll get back to that.
31:14 --> 31:17 The defense— Israel Ford defended the arrangement on social
31:18 --> 31:21 media, um, claiming that the traditional Christian doctrine
31:21 --> 31:26 of, um, monogamy is unbiblical
31:26 --> 31:30 and citing scriptural passages like Exodus
31:30 --> 31:34 21, uh, Exodus 21:10.
31:36 --> 31:39 That was a reference to, you know,
31:40 --> 31:43 that they had many wives back then.
31:44 --> 31:48 Public reaction: the announcement drew massive
31:48 --> 31:52 backlash and confusion online. As well
31:52 --> 31:56 as scrutiny, given that bigamy is
31:57 --> 31:59 illegal under Ohio state law.
32:00 --> 32:03 Okay, so I'm gonna stop here.
32:04 --> 32:07 I was looking, you know, when you see
32:07 --> 32:10 this kind of stuff, you, you tend to go down a rabbit hole to see
32:10 --> 32:14 what else is— what's being said about it. Of course, the comments section is always
32:14 --> 32:18 lit when you go to stuff like this as well. So this
32:18 --> 32:22 is when I found the reference to her being a daughter, and he was— he'd
32:22 --> 32:25 been calling this young lady his daughter for a long time,
32:26 --> 32:30 you know. Now, yes, some pastors do, because even my pastor has
32:30 --> 32:33 done that with some of the people that he's dealt with in Africa.
32:34 --> 32:38 He calls some guys sons, you know, sons of his.
32:38 --> 32:42 They're younger guys who look up to him. He's been their
32:42 --> 32:45 ment— you know, he's been the mentee or whatever. And yeah,
32:45 --> 32:48 in some religious sets people do do that,
32:49 --> 32:52 call people sons and daughters. But this particular person,
32:52 --> 32:55 he had been doing a lot of parading around
32:56 --> 32:59 with her as the daughter, and she's, um, you know,
33:00 --> 33:03 so he's kind of looked at her that way. Never was it
33:03 --> 33:07 indicated that he was romantic— romantically
33:08 --> 33:09 involved with her in any kind of way.
33:11 --> 33:15 Fast forward to now, all of a sudden she's the second wife.
33:17 --> 33:21 When you watch the body language of
33:22 --> 33:26 everything unfolding— I watched
33:26 --> 33:29 it a couple times when I first saw it. I said, I bet you did,
33:29 --> 33:32 Dave. I bet you did. Um,
33:33 --> 33:36 Deacon Dave. I said I thought
33:37 --> 33:39 it was a skit, to be honest with you. I thought it was— yeah,
33:39 --> 33:42 I thought it was a skit at first. And then,
33:43 --> 33:46 but watching, um, Pastor Lydia the
33:47 --> 33:50 whole time, um, you know, when she
33:50 --> 33:52 says my,
33:54 --> 33:57 my husband has a second wife, did you see his
33:58 --> 34:01 reaction or did you hear him in the background? So, you know, and when she
34:01 --> 34:04 called her up And he was like, oh yeah, oh wow,
34:05 --> 34:08 you know, did you hear that? Uh-uh. He did not know. I think,
34:09 --> 34:12 I think the— oh, Lydia, she surprised them. Yes, I do.
34:13 --> 34:16 I think he played— I don't think that was supposed to happen. Damn.
34:16 --> 34:19 I don't think that announcement was supposed to have been made that night.
34:19 --> 34:24 And it, it took me a couple times to watch it because he kept commenting
34:24 --> 34:27 in the background while they were talking. He was
34:27 --> 34:31 like And so when the— when, when Pastor—
34:32 --> 34:35 I mean, when Minister Shakayla came up there and she said, well,
34:35 --> 34:39 I guess the cat's out the bag now, and then she made the little reference
34:39 --> 34:42 to— she said the elephant's in the room, you know, and so
34:43 --> 34:46 forth. And, you know, because that
34:47 --> 34:50 was not— I don't think that was about to happen. Wow. You know,
34:50 --> 34:53 surprise, surprise. Yeah, surprise, surprise.
34:54 --> 34:58 I mean, I mean, could you imagine it? Could you imagine being a deacon
34:58 --> 35:02 at church and then your lady brings up a third lady?
35:07 --> 35:11 And everybody's been making fun because there was this woman— I'm telling you, the internet
35:11 --> 35:15 is undefeated, man. There was this woman, and I
35:15 --> 35:18 swear, Leonard, this was— I almost sent it to you last night. It was
35:18 --> 35:21 so dead on, the reenactment that she did. It was,
35:22 --> 35:26 it was hysterical. I was cracking up. The house—
35:26 --> 35:30 she played, she played the, the wife, the, the first
35:30 --> 35:33 wife. She played the second wife, and she had a doll, a dummy
35:33 --> 35:37 dressed up as the pastor in the background. And she
35:38 --> 35:41 had that thing down so packed. But when she showed—
35:41 --> 35:45 when she, when she hugged the Pastor
35:45 --> 35:49 Lydia when she came up— I mean, yeah, when Pastor Shakayla
35:50 --> 35:53 came up And, you know, when they hug, instead of them hugging,
35:54 --> 35:57 you know, the hug the way they did, you can, you can see the,
35:58 --> 36:00 the, uh, Pastor, uh, Lydia saying, I mean,
36:02 --> 36:05 yeah, this is what you wanted, this is what you wanted, well, now you got
36:05 --> 36:05 it.
36:09 --> 36:11 Now you got to deal with it, then you got to deal with it.
36:11 --> 36:14 And that's the kind of reaction I really felt this was going on.
36:15 --> 36:17 I think She set them up.
36:19 --> 36:23 I really do, because I don't, I don't think
36:23 --> 36:26 they were expecting that to happen. So, so what do you think her motive would
36:27 --> 36:31 be? Maybe he's spending
36:31 --> 36:35 too much time with her. Maybe he's mad about her. Maybe he might— she might
36:35 --> 36:40 be mad about him making her the second wife. Oh, so in my mind,
36:40 --> 36:43 maybe this gives her room to, uh, go do her own thing
36:43 --> 36:47 too. Well, when you do— if
36:47 --> 36:50 you have done any Googling since that announcement, you know,
36:50 --> 36:55 they showed those two have been real close and that they might
36:55 --> 36:59 have— they might have more of a special relationship than people think,
37:00 --> 37:02 you know. But then, um,
37:03 --> 37:06 I don't know, he's just— he's just not looking good to me.
37:06 --> 37:10 He could say all the stuff he wants to say about things being unbiblical or
37:10 --> 37:14 whether they are or not. You know, he's, he's, he out here on some neo
37:14 --> 37:18 type stuff right now, you know. And, and, and he—
37:18 --> 37:22 but like I said, their body language, their reaction,
37:24 --> 37:27 I just don't think that that was meant to come out that at that time.
37:28 --> 37:30 I really don't. And I think,
37:32 --> 37:35 I think Pastor Lydia did that on purpose.
37:36 --> 37:39 She was probably, she was probably in her feelings about something.
37:40 --> 37:43 You know, and she said, oh, okay,
37:43 --> 37:47 this is what we doing. Well, we're gonna,
37:47 --> 37:50 we're gonna, uh, because the way she said, um,
37:50 --> 37:54 my, my husband has a second wife and y'all all know
37:55 --> 37:57 her, it's like, okay, well,
37:57 --> 38:01 obviously the congregation didn't know who she was at the moment.
38:01 --> 38:04 And then she said, y'all all know her, and you
38:05 --> 38:08 know, she ministers to us every week. And that's, that's when people probably
38:08 --> 38:12 said, oh, Are you talking about who I think you're
38:12 --> 38:16 talking about? Right. So, you know, that's funny because when
38:16 --> 38:20 I was hearing it play from my wife's phone and it said my
38:20 --> 38:23 husband has a second wife, I thought that was like the
38:24 --> 38:26 scripture for the day, you know? Like, I, like, I thought there was gonna be
38:26 --> 38:30 like a story like, okay, her husband, he has an obsession with
38:30 --> 38:33 golf, or, you know what I mean? You know, if someone— if people try to
38:34 --> 38:38 spin it Well, we knew, we knew, we knew it wasn't
38:38 --> 38:41 Oscar Mayer, you know, you know. So,
38:41 --> 38:44 you know, like I said, you know, the husband had a second— the wife
38:45 --> 38:48 had a second name or something like that, you know. But I just think
38:48 --> 38:52 that, yeah, it was, it was, it was like I
38:52 --> 38:55 said, so many things happened because I had to watch it a few times.
38:55 --> 38:59 I was like, no, it's not a skit, you know, you know.
38:59 --> 39:02 I said, no, this looks like it's real. And then I said,
39:03 --> 39:06 yeah, there's some, there's some mess going on
39:07 --> 39:10 here, you know. And I'm just telling you, I,
39:10 --> 39:13 I'm just telling you, I think Leonard, I, I think it's gonna be some stuff
39:14 --> 39:17 to come out about what really went down about this. Do you, do you think
39:17 --> 39:19 their church is going to be packed this weekend?
39:22 --> 39:25 I think that people are going to show up to see what
39:25 --> 39:29 they have to say now that the cat is out the bag, apparently.
39:31 --> 39:34 But how many people gonna stay is the question.
39:35 --> 39:38 Because if he has indeed
39:39 --> 39:41 married both of these women and it's against— hold on, hold on, hold on.
39:42 --> 39:45 Oh, so they're saying that he's married them or is just considered like— he said
39:45 --> 39:47 it. She said,
39:49 --> 39:51 she said the word wife. I mean,
39:54 --> 39:57 you know, they— that's what they, they said. They said wife.
39:57 --> 40:01 I mean, now you heard me say the state of
40:01 --> 40:05 Ohio said that's against the law there, you know.
40:05 --> 40:07 So this ain't Utah, you know, right?
40:08 --> 40:11 Yeah. So, so I guess we have to find out
40:12 --> 40:15 what, what happens. I'm sure more juiciness is going to come out, but like I
40:15 --> 40:18 said, stuff is already— and they said, oh, this guy was a
40:19 --> 40:22 pretty abusive guy too in the past. He has been He
40:23 --> 40:27 has been, um, he's had some issues with the law in the past with
40:27 --> 40:29 abuse. Hmm,
40:31 --> 40:35 okay. So, so already then, and let's— so let's hope
40:35 --> 40:39 this is not some mess where he's, you know, a controlling
40:39 --> 40:42 type guy. He like an R. Kelly or a PD.
40:42 --> 40:46 Yeah, I know, I know. Yeah, yeah. So, but this story is
40:46 --> 40:49 going to keep growing, I'm sure. It's going to have wings for a while.
40:49 --> 40:53 Did Yolanda give an opinion on this? Um, to be
40:53 --> 40:56 honest, I don't even think we talked about— like, I heard it,
40:57 --> 41:00 and to be honest, like, okay, like, just hearing, I was like, okay, this might
41:00 --> 41:02 be some type of script, scripture, or a lesson.
41:03 --> 41:07 And then it wasn't until later I actually saw the video with it, and I
41:07 --> 41:10 was like, oh, okay. Yeah, well, I had to, I had
41:10 --> 41:14 to send you that video with the, the parody that the girl
41:14 --> 41:18 did. She did an excellent job. I was laughing so hard I
41:18 --> 41:22 could She even had the same color, like that green outfit that the first
41:22 --> 41:25 wife had, right? That same color on it, everything. I was
41:25 --> 41:28 like, gosh, these people do not play around with this internet.
41:28 --> 41:32 Yeah, yeah. So, um, but, um,
41:33 --> 41:36 folks, um, we gotta get your opinion. You guys gotta let us know. I mean,
41:36 --> 41:40 do you think this is okay? I had somebody tell me yesterday
41:41 --> 41:44 that we happened to talk about it, and I, uh, I had somebody tell
41:45 --> 41:49 me I said, hey, I was in a, you know, I was in a situation
41:49 --> 41:53 where, you know, that was one thing I
41:53 --> 41:57 discussed with the person I was with. Hey, I'd rather we be
41:57 --> 42:01 open than you cheating on me, going out and cheating
42:01 --> 42:05 on me, or me cheating on you. So let's discuss what we're doing,
42:06 --> 42:09 and if there's somebody that you have interest in or whatever, as long
42:10 --> 42:12 as you're honest about it, then we We can deal with it.
42:13 --> 42:15 I was like, wow. I said,
42:17 --> 42:20 in today's world, to do something like that, I don't know
42:20 --> 42:23 how that, how that would work out, you know, um,
42:24 --> 42:28 for a lot of marriages. But they said they were together for 20-something
42:29 --> 42:31 years with that same concept. Yeah,
42:32 --> 42:35 yeah, till, till something happened and had
42:35 --> 42:38 nothing to do with cheating. It was just some other stuff that happened, you know.
42:38 --> 42:41 Yeah, so, but anyway,
42:42 --> 42:44 um, guys, give us your thoughts on that.
42:45 --> 42:49 Um, of course, that's been like a, a big
42:49 --> 42:53 thing that's been all over the internet over the last couple days. So just want
42:54 --> 42:57 to see what your perspective is on that. Okay,
42:58 --> 43:01 another big story that's been all over the internet. You,
43:02 --> 43:05 you want to talk about the story? I'm gonna let you do all
43:06 --> 43:10 the work. Okay. All right. So I
43:10 --> 43:14 actually saw this story, um, start when
43:14 --> 43:18 it first started unfolding last week when they even talked
43:18 --> 43:21 about this kid. I, I think I saw it like towards the weekend,
43:21 --> 43:25 like Friday, maybe Thursday or Friday. But of course it
43:25 --> 43:28 got bigger over the last couple days because of, uh,
43:29 --> 43:33 what happened. But it was police called to Florida
43:33 --> 43:37 soccer game after parents say 3-year-old
43:37 --> 43:40 bent for being too good. Now, did you see
43:41 --> 43:43 the video of this kid? Yeah, I mean, he, he is good.
43:45 --> 43:47 That's one thing they ain't lie about. Yeah,
43:48 --> 43:51 yeah, he was, he was putting in work, wasn't he? He was,
43:51 --> 43:55 he definitely was putting in work. They said police were called
43:55 --> 43:58 after a dispute involving the parents of a 3-year-old
43:59 --> 44:02 player at a soccer game in Florida over the weekend.
44:03 --> 44:08 The boy's parents, um, can be heard
44:08 --> 44:12 on police body cameras saying their son, their son
44:12 --> 44:15 Nevada, had been kicked out because he was too
44:16 --> 44:19 good at soccer and was embarrassing the other children.
44:20 --> 44:24 However, an organizer at the game said Nevada had pushed other
44:25 --> 44:27 children and his parents had become,
44:28 --> 44:31 um, argumentative with their son,
44:32 --> 44:35 was taken out of the game. In the
44:35 --> 44:39 police body cameras— camera footage, the organizer
44:39 --> 44:43 of the event, who, who works for I-9 Sports,
44:44 --> 44:47 a youth sports organization group, can be heard saying
44:47 --> 44:51 Nevada's parents had caused a disturbance. The kid
44:52 --> 44:55 is good. He's great, really good, the organizer
44:56 --> 44:59 said in the footage. He's very advanced compared
45:00 --> 45:02 to the other ones, so he's scoring a lot of goals,
45:03 --> 45:07 but he's pushing, um, the kids.
45:08 --> 45:11 So I tried to tell him, don't push. We want to play
45:11 --> 45:15 without pushing, right? Avada's parents
45:15 --> 45:19 posted a clip of their son at the event
45:19 --> 45:21 in which he can be seen dribbling around older children with ease.
45:22 --> 45:26 The video has since gone viral. Nevada cannot
45:26 --> 45:30 be seen pushing any other, uh, other children in the
45:31 --> 45:34 footage posted by his parents. They are mad at my son
45:34 --> 45:36 because he actually plays soccer.
45:37 --> 45:40 They're literally kicking him out of this
45:41 --> 45:44 place because he's such a good soccer player. His mother
45:45 --> 45:47 says that in the body camera footage,
45:49 --> 45:53 first they said he's not passing, but nobody's
45:53 --> 45:57 catching the ball when he is passing. The i9
45:57 --> 46:01 Sports worker, um, said,
46:01 --> 46:01 uh,
46:05 --> 46:07 police— sorry, police, uh,
46:09 --> 46:11 They said they were willing to give, um,
46:12 --> 46:16 Nevada's parents a refund if they left.
46:17 --> 46:20 I just want him out immediately, the organizer told police.
46:21 --> 46:25 And this is a 3-year-old kid. All— just keep in mind all
46:25 --> 46:29 this I'm talking about. Just give me their name so I can give them
46:29 --> 46:32 a refund. The Winter Park Police Department said
46:33 --> 46:36 the family agreed to leave the event and no one was arrested.
46:37 --> 46:40 Uh, the family stated the— stated the game was over
46:41 --> 46:44 and they were leaving. The family was cooperative with the officers,
46:44 --> 46:48 the department wrote in a statement
46:48 --> 46:51 on its website. No one was arrested, trespassed,
46:52 --> 46:56 or forced to leave this park. I-9 said that it
46:56 --> 47:00 was reviewing the incident, had contacted Nevada's family.
47:01 --> 47:04 Um, we are aware of the
47:05 --> 47:08 concerns being shared regarding an incident in the local
47:09 --> 47:13 I-9 sports program, and we're taking them seriously. The respectful
47:13 --> 47:17 treatment and well-being of every child and family member deeply
47:18 --> 47:21 matters deeply to us. We have reached out to the family
47:21 --> 47:25 and have begun a review that includes speaking with those involved.
47:27 --> 47:31 While we work on to understand the circumstances, we will not
47:31 --> 47:34 speculate or share unverified information. We appreciate
47:35 --> 47:38 everyone who has brought their concerns to our attention.
47:40 --> 47:45 So, um, and from what I understand, they started a GoFundMe
47:46 --> 47:49 also, you know, to help fund him because
47:49 --> 47:54 he was being kicked out of that organization. So he might be going to,
47:54 --> 47:58 uh, it might be going to
47:58 --> 48:02 another, um, organization, but of course it
48:02 --> 48:07 costs money to do that. This kid was
48:08 --> 48:11 all over the place with the soccer ball.
48:12 --> 48:15 Now whether he pushed anybody or whatever,
48:16 --> 48:20 I don't know, but he, he, he knew what he
48:20 --> 48:23 was doing. I don't know how he learned the dribble like he did and
48:24 --> 48:26 all of that kind of stuff. But this kid was very skilled for a 3-year-old.
48:27 --> 48:30 Yeah, I mean, how do
48:31 --> 48:33 you teach something like that? I mean, you know,
48:34 --> 48:38 what, what, what makes a kid want to go out? But they said
48:38 --> 48:41 by the end, with all that went on, the kid didn't want to play anymore
48:44 --> 48:47 because I'm sure that he was shook up from everything that he saw.
48:48 --> 48:49 And all the people being so angry.
48:51 --> 48:55 Um, it used to be an old saying, old sports saying,
48:56 --> 49:00 if you don't like that I'm scoring on you,
49:01 --> 49:05 I'm, you know, I'm running touchdowns in, I'm scoring baskets,
49:07 --> 49:11 um, you know, goals from soccer or hockey
49:11 --> 49:15 or whatever, stop me. That's all you got to do,
49:15 --> 49:19 right? If you can't stop
49:20 --> 49:21 me, just get out of my way.
49:23 --> 49:25 And that's basically what the kid was doing.
49:26 --> 49:29 You can't stop me, get out of my way. Now,
49:30 --> 49:34 if I was some other organization, I'll be signing
49:34 --> 49:37 him up. He'd be doing commercials, he'd be doing all kinds of stuff right about
49:37 --> 49:39 now, you know. Um,
49:42 --> 49:47 If this was a white kid though, Leonard, what do you think would have happened?
49:47 --> 49:51 It probably would have been praised and celebrated. They would have
49:51 --> 49:54 the TV station out there, uh, President Trump would have
49:55 --> 49:58 been shouting him out, talking about he loves little boys, you know, all that
49:59 --> 50:02 stuff. But Dave, you know, the one thing you said that kind
50:03 --> 50:08 of made me think back to when my son played, uh, soccer And
50:08 --> 50:11 Dave, I, I don't know if you've ever seen little kids play soccer at 4,
50:11 --> 50:15 5, 6, 7. They are all over the place.
50:15 --> 50:18 The ball goes to the left, every single player run to the left.
50:19 --> 50:22 Ball go to the right, they all run to the right. So when you
50:23 --> 50:26 talked about pushing and shoving, to be honest, like at that
50:26 --> 50:30 age, all they're doing is knocking into each other. Not on purpose, but it's
50:30 --> 50:33 like, you know, they don't have no skill or strategy. They just all run after
50:33 --> 50:36 the ball, all of them. Yeah,
50:37 --> 50:40 well, yeah, because the ball is the star and that's where you got to
50:41 --> 50:44 get to the star. Um, yeah,
50:44 --> 50:47 but even with the clips that they were showing of this kid,
50:49 --> 50:52 it seemed like they were— everybody was chasing him. Yeah, you know
50:52 --> 50:56 what I mean? He had the ball, nobody was gonna get the ball
50:56 --> 50:59 from him. The goal— there was one
50:59 --> 51:03 goal he showed, he did a, he did a, uh, backwards kick.
51:03 --> 51:06 I saw, I saw that. How did
51:07 --> 51:10 he learn that? Yeah, like, who, who is teaching it?
51:10 --> 51:14 Because, you know, how to do that, this right here is like private
51:14 --> 51:17 lessons. Like, you know, this ain't no regular degular.
51:17 --> 51:21 Yeah, no, because who— what 3-year-old
51:21 --> 51:24 would think to kick the ball like that? No,
51:25 --> 51:28 I mean, um, no, it's, it's,
51:28 --> 51:32 it's, it's remarkable story. I mean, we've had prodigies
51:32 --> 51:36 before with kids who are great athletes at an early age or
51:36 --> 51:40 whatever, but to see something like that with a 3-year-old
51:40 --> 51:45 and then for him to do that to everybody
51:45 --> 51:48 he did it to and they want him out of— now,
51:49 --> 51:52 first of all, If I was a, if I was a team in that particular
51:52 --> 51:55 I-9 group, I want this kid on my team.
51:56 --> 51:59 Yeah, unless he's a bully, right?
52:00 --> 52:04 You know, but I got a chance to win every game
52:04 --> 52:05 if I got this kid on my team,
52:08 --> 52:11 you know. So, but, uh, but is the
52:12 --> 52:19 parents being too over with—
52:19 --> 52:23 I don't want to say aggressive— with how they are
52:23 --> 52:25 teaching him and preparing him.
52:26 --> 52:30 Do you think they're being overzealous? You know, I don't
52:30 --> 52:33 know. It's hard to tell because, you know, I almost feel like we'd have
52:33 --> 52:36 to go to a game and watch one of the games when,
52:37 --> 52:40 you know, so the, the whole social media is not watching.
52:41 --> 52:44 Because, you know, of course they have the little highlight video, and I mean,
52:44 --> 52:48 is it possible they're showing all the good stuff and none of the bad and
52:48 --> 52:51 You know, they, they know that it, it could appear as a
52:52 --> 52:55 race thing. And, um, you know, but Black,
52:55 --> 52:58 Black people feed into racial issues super quick.
52:58 --> 53:02 So I, I don't know. But I mean, undoubtedly the
53:02 --> 53:05 boy is good. In fact, Dave, he almost a little too good.
53:05 --> 53:08 We may need to check his, um, yeah, check his birth
53:09 --> 53:12 certificate if he's a midget or something.
53:14 --> 53:17 Okay, or a little person. Yeah, I should say that,
53:17 --> 53:21 a little person. It's just fascinating because,
53:21 --> 53:25 I mean, um, and I noticed that like I
53:26 --> 53:30 was waiting to see if anybody said anything to the kid to see what
53:30 --> 53:33 the kid had to say, but I didn't see any interviews done with the kid.
53:34 --> 53:37 Yeah, you know, hey Dave, he might have said,
53:37 --> 53:40 I don't know why they're all messing with me.
53:41 --> 53:43 Some Dave Grohl deep voice. Yeah, I know, I know.
53:45 --> 53:49 Um, he's probably 25 or 26 years old,
53:49 --> 53:52 like Arnold and Webster from a different show.
53:53 --> 53:56 No, it'd be Juana, man,
53:56 --> 53:58 you know, you know. So,
53:59 --> 54:03 but I don't know, this is fascinating though, but it only
54:04 --> 54:08 happens when we are the features.
54:09 --> 54:11 If that was You know,
54:12 --> 54:16 and I hate, I hate to always bring it back to this, but I think
54:16 --> 54:19 all of us know this would be a different story if that was a white
54:19 --> 54:20 kid. Yeah,
54:22 --> 54:24 definitely.
54:25 --> 54:25 Um,
54:29 --> 54:34 and I saw— I'm,
54:34 --> 54:38 I'm gonna, I'm gonna change the story. I'm gonna change this up real
54:38 --> 54:41 quick. With something else I saw. I saw that
54:41 --> 54:45 Caitlin Clark has a new commercial,
54:45 --> 54:48 sneaker commercial, because she just dropped her, her new
54:49 --> 54:50 line sneakers.
54:52 --> 54:54 Have you seen this commercial? No.
54:56 --> 54:56 Uh,
55:00 --> 55:04 here, do me a favor, because I think this is something— I mean,
55:04 --> 55:07 along the lines I'm gonna send this to you. It's not a
55:07 --> 55:11 long— it's not a long commercial. It's, it's pretty quick. Uh, I'm gonna
55:12 --> 55:15 send this to you. I want you to play this right quick. You're emailing it?
55:16 --> 55:19 I'm texting. Well, you want me to email it or text it? Yeah, you got
55:20 --> 55:26 to email it. Okay. Uh, all right, let me
55:26 --> 55:29 see. I thought it was interesting because of the
55:30 --> 55:33 dynamic that's involved For those
55:33 --> 55:37 of you who do not know who Caitlin Clark is, Caitlin Clark
55:37 --> 55:41 is a WNBA basketball player,
55:41 --> 55:46 one of the top basketball players in the league. Just got named First
55:46 --> 55:49 Team All-WNBA this week,
55:50 --> 55:52 and, um,
55:54 --> 55:57 well deserved. She had a great season. Um, this has been her best
55:58 --> 56:01 season since she's been in the league. And so,
56:01 --> 56:04 um, you know, so all that came along with
56:05 --> 56:08 it, you know, she deserves because she did have a great season.
56:09 --> 56:13 Um, I will say that. Um,
56:14 --> 56:18 the, um, so they did— she
56:18 --> 56:22 just had a sneaker drop, and so they did this
56:23 --> 56:27 new commercial, um, with the drop of the sneaker.
56:27 --> 56:30 I'm gonna have Leonard play it. Leonard's seeing it for the first
56:31 --> 56:34 time. I'm gonna have Leonard play it, play it, and I just want to,
56:34 --> 56:36 you know, see, see what you think of it.
56:42 --> 56:46 Let me know if you got it. She's just playing offensive. I mean,
56:46 --> 56:50 yeah, that's it. She's just playing offensive, and some people find
56:50 --> 56:54 that offensive, which honestly I find offensive.
56:54 --> 56:58 But look, I'm not trying to get defensive here. She is though.
56:58 --> 57:02 She's so mean it's nice, but she's also just nice,
57:02 --> 57:06 you know what I mean? Dang, people complicate everything.
57:09 --> 57:09 You should post that.
57:16 --> 57:19 I mean, okay, you're just playing offensive. And some people
57:20 --> 57:24 find— so what is
57:24 --> 57:27 funny, because I was watching your reaction and you had that look on your face
57:27 --> 57:31 like, okay, um, so what
57:31 --> 57:34 this was is a, it's a young Black girl on
57:35 --> 57:38 a basketball court with a Caitlin Clark jersey on, okay,
57:39 --> 57:42 Indiana Fever jersey on, and she's got a basketball
57:43 --> 57:46 in her hand. She's good and she got, uh It's a sneaker
57:47 --> 57:51 commercial because they show at the end of the commercial, they show her shoes on
57:51 --> 57:54 her feet. But she is doing kind of
57:54 --> 57:58 a double entendre on words,
58:00 --> 58:02 you know. So she's saying that, you know,
58:03 --> 58:06 they— she's mean but she's nice and all of this kind of stuff,
58:06 --> 58:10 you know, just kind of, kind of play on words with everything that she
58:10 --> 58:14 said. And then the last thing she kind of does is she takes
58:14 --> 58:17 the basketball, she flips it over, over her shoulder, and she makes
58:17 --> 58:22 the shot with her back turned towards the basket. There's somebody
58:22 --> 58:25 sitting on the bench reading a newspaper, and it turns out it's Caitlin
58:25 --> 58:29 Clark. And Caitlin looks at her and says, you should post
58:30 --> 58:32 that. Now,
58:35 --> 58:39 what's your initial thought of this whole thing? Seeing that commercial?
58:43 --> 58:47 I think my initial thought was just that they used, uh, a Black
58:47 --> 58:49 kid to kind of give her some legitimacy.
58:51 --> 58:55 Yeah, yeah, to sell the sneaker. To sell the sneaker. But Dave, I, I do
58:55 --> 58:58 want to say the quick glimpse of the sneaker, I mean, it, it looked pretty
58:58 --> 59:02 dope though. Thank you, Leonard,
59:02 --> 59:05 for that. Okay, you might have just sold about 10 pairs just then.
59:05 --> 59:07 Okay, just because your endorsement just then.
59:09 --> 59:10 Okay, um,
59:12 --> 59:15 have you seen Asia Wilson's sneaker? Um, no.
59:16 --> 59:19 Asia Wilson got those sneakers. Oh, she got those? Yeah, yeah,
59:20 --> 59:22 yeah. So, um, but anyway,
59:23 --> 59:25 um, yeah,
59:27 --> 59:30 why, why use the Black kid? And this is not no
59:30 --> 59:35 light-skinned Black. This ain't no, this ain't no, you know you
59:36 --> 59:40 know, biracial, or, you know, somebody— this
59:40 --> 59:42 is a dark-skinned Black child.
59:46 --> 59:48 Why use that child for this commercial?
59:50 --> 59:53 We know why. And my thing is, maybe not that it's such a big
59:53 --> 59:57 deal, but when I think of Caitlin Clark and
59:57 --> 01:00:01 I see her fans and all that's been going on, like, you know, it just
01:00:01 --> 01:00:03 didn't look represent— and they, they— and not that she don't have no Black fans,
01:00:03 --> 01:00:06 I'm sure she does. Oh, she She does. I mean,
01:00:06 --> 01:00:10 when you— but look, when you go to her, the stands at her
01:00:10 --> 01:00:14 games, they got all kinds of people in that stands, in the stands. But it
01:00:14 --> 01:00:17 just looks like— what do they call it? Pandering.
01:00:17 --> 01:00:20 That's what it, it definitely was.
01:00:20 --> 01:00:23 Definitely thought out.
01:00:24 --> 01:00:28 And they definitely had a target for that.
01:00:29 --> 01:00:31 And they wanted— I guess it was a shock because when they first released the
01:00:32 --> 01:00:34 commercial You can only see it on Instagram.
01:00:37 --> 01:00:40 Now it's starting to make the TV rounds now because I finally saw
01:00:41 --> 01:00:44 it on TV. So what, what was the Instagram reaction?
01:00:45 --> 01:00:49 Kind of what we're talking about, or a little bit different, or typical
01:00:49 --> 01:00:53 Caitlyn? All— and
01:00:53 --> 01:00:56 it's, it's a shame that I have to say this, but when you look at
01:00:56 --> 01:00:59 the comments, because I'm a person that goes to the comments, I'm gonna write to
01:00:59 --> 01:01:03 the comments when I see controversial stuff. All the white people
01:01:04 --> 01:01:07 say, oh, that's so great, I love this commercial, this is so great,
01:01:07 --> 01:01:09 oh, look at the shoe, I gotta go out and get a pair, and all
01:01:10 --> 01:01:14 of that. And then you got— then you got— you got us
01:01:15 --> 01:01:18 with the memes and everything giving the side eye. It's like,
01:01:19 --> 01:01:22 okay, we see what you did there, you know, that type of thing.
01:01:23 --> 01:01:26 Why they gotta use— why they gotta use the Black little girl? Why didn't they
01:01:27 --> 01:01:30 use a white little girl? Girl. What's that all about, right? What's that? What's this?
01:01:30 --> 01:01:34 You know, because, you know, we're gonna question everything, you know, and especially
01:01:34 --> 01:01:37 in today's society. It's no different than Nikki being
01:01:37 --> 01:01:41 in front of the president doing what she did, you know.
01:01:41 --> 01:01:44 So that was— and I feel bad because
01:01:44 --> 01:01:48 you don't want to think— you really don't want to think that way
01:01:49 --> 01:01:52 because this is not just about Caitlyn, but it's about that little
01:01:52 --> 01:01:56 girl. Yeah, because now she's got to deal
01:01:57 --> 01:02:01 with whatever, and I'm sure there's going to be some negative because that's
01:02:01 --> 01:02:04 just how our world is today. And I'm
01:02:05 --> 01:02:07 sure it's going to be directed at her parents too. Why did y'all let her
01:02:08 --> 01:02:11 do that commercial? Well, we know why you did it, why you let her do
01:02:11 --> 01:02:14 it. I mean, come on now, it's a Nike— it's Nike,
01:02:14 --> 01:02:18 you, you know. But there's
01:02:19 --> 01:02:21 going to be, there's going to be blowback. There's definitely going to be blowback.
01:02:23 --> 01:02:26 So, and, you know, so, you know, thinking about it here, we got 2 little
01:02:26 --> 01:02:30 kids, 2 different sports, 2 different situations.
01:02:34 --> 01:02:35 But what if they were white?
01:02:38 --> 01:02:40 Do we have the same reaction to both stories?
01:02:42 --> 01:02:45 No, we don't. Yeah, I'm sure it'd be different. Yeah, it would definitely be
01:02:46 --> 01:02:50 a different story. So, but I
01:02:50 --> 01:02:53 just wanted to bring that point up because I saw that, I saw that and
01:02:53 --> 01:02:57 I just said, well, yeah, I'm not feeling this. I wonder
01:02:57 --> 01:03:00 how long they're going to keep the commercial around because I'm sure it's going to—
01:03:00 --> 01:03:05 it's— I'm sure by now, because when I last looked at the
01:03:05 --> 01:03:08 views and everything, that was early morning. I'm sure it's really blown up by now.
01:03:08 --> 01:03:11 So, so, but anyway,
01:03:13 --> 01:03:16 You guys give us your thoughts on it, you know. I— and, and,
01:03:16 --> 01:03:20 you know, I hate to come on here and kind of have that little militant
01:03:20 --> 01:03:24 attitude about these kind of things, but aren't
01:03:25 --> 01:03:28 we— aren't we tired of being played? Or, you know,
01:03:28 --> 01:03:31 when things are being played in front of us and they're playing in our
01:03:32 --> 01:03:35 faces the way they do, we got to be tired of that
01:03:36 --> 01:03:38 by now, you know.
01:03:39 --> 01:03:42 So that's my, that's my reason for bringing, bringing that up.
01:03:43 --> 01:03:47 All right, let me ask a question. So your granddaughter
01:03:47 --> 01:03:51 comes to you and she tells you she wants those new Caitlin Clarks.
01:03:53 --> 01:03:56 You, you gotta get them for her, or you gonna— I wouldn't get them.
01:03:56 --> 01:03:59 I wouldn't get them. Now, I don't know if her dad would get them either.
01:04:01 --> 01:04:07 I wouldn't do it. No, I said Hey,
01:04:07 --> 01:04:10 let's take a look at the Asias. And, and what if she was
01:04:10 --> 01:04:13 like, nah, these are ugly, I, I want the Caitlins?
01:04:14 --> 01:04:16 Then the next one I'm going to is the Angel Reese shoe.
01:04:18 --> 01:04:21 You want— look, if you want a new basketball shoe, it's going to be either
01:04:21 --> 01:04:25 that one or this one. It ain't gonna be that one, you know.
01:04:26 --> 01:04:29 You know, you— we going with it. Look, there's 2 A's,
01:04:30 --> 01:04:33 no C's, you know. You know, so that's where we're
01:04:34 --> 01:04:37 going. So Um, what would you do?
01:04:40 --> 01:04:44 Um, I mean, she really wanna— I'll probably get them for
01:04:44 --> 01:04:46 her. Okay. All right.
01:04:47 --> 01:04:49 Okay. All right, Mr.,
01:04:51 --> 01:04:54 uh, here you go. There you go. All right, I ain't gonna say it,
01:04:54 --> 01:04:57 but anyway, I know what I'm doing. I'm, I'm sticking
01:04:57 --> 01:05:00 with the A's. I ain't sticking— look, you ain't giving me— look,
01:05:00 --> 01:05:04 I'm trying, I'm, I'm trying to I'm, I'm trying to,
01:05:04 --> 01:05:07 you know, get a 4.0, man. I ain't trying to have— I ain't trying to
01:05:08 --> 01:05:12 be at no 2.9 or 3, you know, because you got
01:05:12 --> 01:05:16 C's. Look, because you got C's, you know. So,
01:05:17 --> 01:05:20 you know, so in any way, um,
01:05:20 --> 01:05:24 but that's a good question. And you know what, put that up as a poll.
01:05:26 --> 01:05:30 Okay. Yeah, if you, if you're, if your daughter
01:05:30 --> 01:05:33 or granddaughter, whatever way you want to put it, whatever way you want to put
01:05:34 --> 01:05:36 it, ask you for the new Caitlyn,
01:05:38 --> 01:05:42 Angel, or, um, Asia shoe.
01:05:42 --> 01:05:46 Which one are you getting? Let's— yeah,
01:05:47 --> 01:05:49 okay, let's see how that goes.
01:05:51 --> 01:05:55 Okay, you gonna put that up on Instagram? All right, yeah, I'll, I'll— well,
01:05:55 --> 01:05:59 here, put, put it up on the News and Trams Trend's Instagram account.
01:06:00 --> 01:06:04 You want— are you gonna create the poll? I, I don't have
01:06:04 --> 01:06:07 access to the page, remember? You don't?
01:06:08 --> 01:06:11 No. Okay, okay. No, no, you, you remember,
01:06:11 --> 01:06:15 Dave, you're, you're carrying, so you, you, uh, you carry the—
01:06:15 --> 01:06:18 anyway,
01:06:20 --> 01:06:23 anyway, um, what— why,
01:06:24 --> 01:06:27 why not put it on the I was gonna say, why not do— you're so
01:06:28 --> 01:06:31 quick to do that poll, that other poll real quick, you know?
01:06:32 --> 01:06:35 Yeah, because they— because you try to argue me down on that one and,
01:06:35 --> 01:06:38 and I knew you were wrong. Okay, so do you think I'm right
01:06:39 --> 01:06:41 or wrong in this case? Do you— which shoe do you think everybody gonna pick?
01:06:41 --> 01:06:45 You think it's gonna be mostly Caitlyn? No, I'm sure most
01:06:45 --> 01:06:49 of them be— you know, you know what I compare— I'd compare it to when
01:06:49 --> 01:06:53 the little black girl goes to the toy store and there's a white doll
01:06:55 --> 01:06:58 And a black doll. Yeah, they try to get the, the white doll
01:06:59 --> 01:07:02 and the mama said, no you don't. Yeah, I know, you gotta get this black
01:07:02 --> 01:07:03 doll whether you like it or not.
01:07:06 --> 01:07:07 Mom, she ugly though.
01:07:09 --> 01:07:12 Oh, oh, beat down right there. Yeah, no,
01:07:12 --> 01:07:16 there you go, there you go. Um, so,
01:07:16 --> 01:07:18 so are you gonna do the poll or not? No, I'm gonna let you do
01:07:19 --> 01:07:22 it. Oh my God, here we go. Okay, all right, I'll put—
01:07:22 --> 01:07:26 I'll put the poll together. Okay, all right, I think I'm gonna put it on
01:07:26 --> 01:07:29 Facebook. Okay, that's fine. I think I'm gonna put it on Facebook.
01:07:29 --> 01:07:33 Yeah, more people see it. Okay. Yeah, all right,
01:07:34 --> 01:07:38 all right. Um, and Dave, do a poll this time,
01:07:38 --> 01:07:41 don't ask a question. Uh, see, that's why I asked you to do it,
01:07:41 --> 01:07:45 because I know— here we go. Okay, I'm gonna do
01:07:46 --> 01:07:49 an actual poll. Yeah, the poll. Okay, you know, you say, do you
01:07:49 --> 01:07:52 like, and then of course all the people who like will say yes, and everyone
01:07:52 --> 01:07:56 who— but yes. All right. Okay, you don't want
01:07:56 --> 01:07:59 to do it, but you're going to dictate how I do it. Yeah, all right,
01:08:00 --> 01:08:03 exactly. That's true,
01:08:03 --> 01:08:07 true, Leonard. Okay. All right, anyway, all right, this brings us
01:08:07 --> 01:08:11 to, uh, Leonard's favorite part of the show,
01:08:12 --> 01:08:15 um, Dave's Corner. Here we go. All right,
01:08:16 --> 01:08:18 I got a question for you. Okay,
01:08:20 --> 01:08:24 what do you think will happen in this general
01:08:24 --> 01:08:28 election, and will it truly make a negative or positive
01:08:28 --> 01:08:32 difference in today's world in
01:08:33 --> 01:08:34 America?
01:08:36 --> 01:08:41 So I
01:08:41 --> 01:08:45 think that a lot of Republicans
01:08:45 --> 01:08:48 are going to be upset. I'm sorry,
01:08:48 --> 01:08:50 upset and upset.
01:08:52 --> 01:08:55 And I think it will make a difference. I think this is one step into
01:08:56 --> 01:08:59 lessening Donald Trump's whims
01:09:00 --> 01:09:03 and wishes that he looks to impose every other
01:09:04 --> 01:09:07 day. Do you think this would,
01:09:09 --> 01:09:12 um, be a step in trying to
01:09:12 --> 01:09:15 get him out of office?
01:09:17 --> 01:09:20 I think we can try. I, I don't necessarily see that happening,
01:09:21 --> 01:09:25 um, but, you know, I can definitely see just minimizing his
01:09:25 --> 01:09:25 effects.
01:09:33 --> 01:09:36 I, I think if we can get both the House and
01:09:36 --> 01:09:40 the Senate and the people
01:09:40 --> 01:09:44 who need to be in the seats are
01:09:44 --> 01:09:47 in those seats, I think we can
01:09:47 --> 01:09:52 kind of make a— I think
01:09:52 --> 01:09:56 we'll make a— be able to make the type proper moves in order to
01:09:56 --> 01:10:01 take back the government
01:10:02 --> 01:10:06 and make it
01:10:06 --> 01:10:10 more into a place that we can live in as opposed to—
01:10:11 --> 01:10:15 because, I mean, it was laid out when
01:10:16 --> 01:10:19 he was hired, when he was brought in for his first terms,
01:10:21 --> 01:10:24 his first term, that this was all about the
01:10:24 --> 01:10:27 rich getting richer, right? And that's what it's been.
01:10:28 --> 01:10:31 It's about the rich getting richer and all
01:10:32 --> 01:10:36 this money that's being made. He's become a billionaire
01:10:36 --> 01:10:40 as president of the United States. You know,
01:10:41 --> 01:10:45 the rich people are making all the money right now and
01:10:45 --> 01:10:49 everybody's struggling. You know, you know, we're still dealing
01:10:50 --> 01:10:53 with these rate hikes with the electric and everything. We got all these data centers
01:10:53 --> 01:10:57 that they're trying to build, which is causing You know, it's going to cause more
01:10:57 --> 01:11:01 utility struggles for everybody. I just found out last week
01:11:02 --> 01:11:06 that Delaware had the 2nd highest rate hike in
01:11:06 --> 01:11:10 the whole country when they raised our electric
01:11:10 --> 01:11:14 bills. It was the 2nd highest in the whole country behind
01:11:14 --> 01:11:15 Hawaii. Wow.
01:11:16 --> 01:11:19 Now, you know, we always
01:11:19 --> 01:11:23 talk about how small Delaware is supposed to be, but this is Second
01:11:23 --> 01:11:28 highest, not New York, not Texas, not California—
01:11:28 --> 01:11:29 Delaware.
01:11:32 --> 01:11:36 How can that be? Well, I mean, I know we don't manufacture our
01:11:37 --> 01:11:39 own, we don't, but we don't manufacture our own, you know,
01:11:40 --> 01:11:44 utilities and, you know, electric and so forth, you know. But even still,
01:11:44 --> 01:11:47 and a lot of, a lot of other states do do that, but even
01:11:48 --> 01:11:53 still Delaware,
01:11:53 --> 01:11:56 second highest rape height, uh, rape height in the whole
01:11:56 --> 01:11:59 country. Man, that tripped me out when I heard that.
01:12:01 --> 01:12:04 It just, it just doesn't make any sense to me,
01:12:06 --> 01:12:10 but here we are. So we got to do better. We got—
01:12:10 --> 01:12:15 this country's got to be in a better position, and hopefully Next
01:12:15 --> 01:12:19 week we're looking at trying to climb
01:12:19 --> 01:12:22 out of where we are now to a better place. Oh,
01:12:22 --> 01:12:25 isn't— well, hold on, you mean more than a little over a week?
01:12:27 --> 01:12:31 November 3rd is next week. Is it November 3rd? Yeah. Is that next
01:12:31 --> 01:12:34 week? Oh, that's next Tuesday. Oh yeah, that's next week. Yeah.
01:12:34 --> 01:12:37 Oh, I'm, I'm tripping. Yeah, you are. Yeah,
01:12:38 --> 01:12:40 you are, as usual, but you are.
01:12:42 --> 01:12:45 So Dave has all the jokes tonight, huh? No, no,
01:12:45 --> 01:12:48 no, no, no, no, no, I was just making an observation.
01:12:49 --> 01:12:53 Um, so you muted me earlier, by the way, so I— you're
01:12:53 --> 01:12:55 talking about Dave got all the jokes. Um,
01:12:59 --> 01:13:02 but anyway, so, but guys, you know,
01:13:02 --> 01:13:05 you guys give us your thought on, on, um,
01:13:05 --> 01:13:09 Dave's Corner question about where we are and what you
01:13:09 --> 01:13:13 guys think is going to happen. I'm always curious to see that
01:13:13 --> 01:13:16 because it's going to be interesting. It really is. I mean, Delaware has had a
01:13:16 --> 01:13:20 lot of changes with that primary. That primary woke some people up
01:13:21 --> 01:13:24 because there were some incumbents that got— that lost their position.
01:13:24 --> 01:13:27 Yeah. And we ain't talking about people that had just been around a year or
01:13:28 --> 01:13:32 two. We talking about 20-plus-year incumbents
01:13:32 --> 01:13:36 that lost their, their, their position.
01:13:36 --> 01:13:40 So, um, so people definitely are
01:13:40 --> 01:13:43 looking for change, and they're looking for change where it's
01:13:44 --> 01:13:47 going to be good change as opposed to what we've been having. So,
01:13:48 --> 01:13:53 so definitely get to the polls, definitely do what you have to do to help
01:13:54 --> 01:13:57 out. Okay, all right, I guess
01:13:57 --> 01:14:01 that's it for tonight. I I think we covered everything. You got anything you want
01:14:01 --> 01:14:05 to add? No, I think that's it. I was going to do the culture check
01:14:05 --> 01:14:09 question of the day, but I, I think I'm going to spare you, Dave.
01:14:10 --> 01:14:14 I think you got one. You're gonna
01:14:14 --> 01:14:18 try to get me, I know, but go ahead. No, no, no, Dave, this is
01:14:18 --> 01:14:20 a question of the day, so this is the same one everyone else will play
01:14:21 --> 01:14:22 too. Okay. All right.
01:14:25 --> 01:14:29 Who was the first African-American
01:14:29 --> 01:14:32 woman to earn a medical degree in the
01:14:33 --> 01:14:36 United States? Oh wow.
01:14:36 --> 01:14:39 Would you like to hear the choices? Yes, let's hear the choices because I ain't
01:14:40 --> 01:14:43 gonna try to put it out there. Go ahead.
01:14:43 --> 01:14:45 Rebecca Lee Crumpler,
01:14:46 --> 01:14:49 Mary Eliza Mahoney,
01:14:51 --> 01:14:55 Patricia Bath or Mae Jamison?
01:14:57 --> 01:15:02 And no, you cannot phone a friend.
01:15:02 --> 01:15:06 Well, I have to be honest, folks,
01:15:06 --> 01:15:09 I'm, I'm taking, I'm taking a guess on this one.
01:15:10 --> 01:15:10 I'm gonna go with D.
01:15:14 --> 01:15:17 All right, Dave, I'm, I'm gonna let you retract your
01:15:17 --> 01:15:20 guess. And go with something else.
01:15:21 --> 01:15:24 Okay, if it wasn't— if it wasn't D,
01:15:24 --> 01:15:27 then it's got to be B. Okay, so you said Mary
01:15:28 --> 01:15:30 Eliza Mahoney? Yes.
01:15:33 --> 01:15:37 That is wrong. Oh, okay. So who
01:15:37 --> 01:15:41 was it? Well, so I canceled out your D because, you know, Mae Jemison was
01:15:41 --> 01:15:45 the first Black woman in space. So I, I knew the name sound familiar.
01:15:45 --> 01:15:47 That's why I said Yeah, yeah.
01:15:49 --> 01:15:53 So in fact, let me just make sure because I think you should be embarrassed.
01:15:53 --> 01:15:57 Let me just see real quick if I can embarrass you a little bit more.
01:15:58 --> 01:16:01 Okay, let me mute you right quick.
01:16:04 --> 01:16:08 So David, the first African
01:16:08 --> 01:16:12 American woman to earn a medical degree in the United
01:16:12 --> 01:16:15 States was Rebecca Lee Crumpler.
01:16:17 --> 01:16:19 Okay, and where's she— where's she earning from?
01:16:20 --> 01:16:24 Where did she earn it from? She earned it from New England
01:16:24 --> 01:16:29 Female Medical College in 1864.
01:16:29 --> 01:16:33 Wow. Now the reason why you should be embarrassed— so
01:16:33 --> 01:16:38 apparently you don't follow DelawareBlack.com's Black
01:16:38 --> 01:16:41 History Moments. I've never heard of DelawareBlack.com.
01:16:41 --> 01:16:44 Okay, well, you— and you should be embarrassed again.
01:16:46 --> 01:16:48 She was born in Christiana,
01:16:49 --> 01:16:53 Delaware. Really? Yep, she was. She was Delaware-born,
01:16:53 --> 01:16:54 raised in Pennsylvania.
01:16:56 --> 01:17:00 Okay, so she didn't spend much time here in Delaware then. I mean, we don't
01:17:00 --> 01:17:02 know that, but she was born here in the First State.
01:17:03 --> 01:17:06 Okay, 18— in the 1800s, huh? Yeah, crazy,
01:17:06 --> 01:17:08 ain't Yeah, gosh.
01:17:10 --> 01:17:14 Yeah, that— and, and well, of course, what was
01:17:14 --> 01:17:17 the name of the school again? Because it wasn't— look, yeah, that was the school
01:17:18 --> 01:17:21 for coloreds, right? Well, you know, we know because,
01:17:21 --> 01:17:24 you know, back in the 1800s, if they didn't have, uh,
01:17:25 --> 01:17:28 colored schools for medical— well,
01:17:28 --> 01:17:31 what was the name of the school again? New England Female
01:17:32 --> 01:17:35 Medical College. In fact, let me just take a look real quick to see.
01:17:35 --> 01:17:39 Did that morph into something else, another school or something?
01:17:39 --> 01:17:42 Let me see. Dana, you asking all the questions. Let me— I know,
01:17:42 --> 01:17:45 because now, now I'm curious. I'm curious now.
01:17:48 --> 01:17:51 All right, you got that knowledge, you know, you, you know,
01:17:51 --> 01:17:53 there's a— I'm on a quest for knowledge now.
01:18:02 --> 01:18:07 So what I think it turned into was
01:18:07 --> 01:18:10 the University of New England College of
01:18:11 --> 01:18:14 Osteopathic Medicine. Wow.
01:18:14 --> 01:18:15 Which is located in Maine,
01:18:18 --> 01:18:21 I think. Yeah, if that's what it turned— okay,
01:18:21 --> 01:18:25 so that's big. Okay. Yeah. All right,
01:18:26 --> 01:18:29 see, you, you schooled me on something. Yeah. Okay, I might— I'm gonna
01:18:30 --> 01:18:33 do some research on this Crumpler myself. Okay. Yeah.
01:18:33 --> 01:18:37 Okay. All right. Oh, okay.
01:18:37 --> 01:18:40 Well, see, there, there you go. There you go, folks. That's the kind of information
01:18:41 --> 01:18:44 you get on Knowledge Check, you know. Um, Culture Check, I should say.
01:18:45 --> 01:18:49 You just messing up all around tonight. I know, because you gave me
01:18:50 --> 01:18:53 some knowledge. I was thinking about knowledge, man. What can I say, you know?
01:18:53 --> 01:18:56 So that's the kind of information you get on Culture Check. So you definitely want
01:18:56 --> 01:19:00 to check out Culture Check, okay? He got me on that one.
01:19:00 --> 01:19:03 I wasn't even close. So no, I think she probably would have been my 4th
01:19:04 --> 01:19:07 choice, to be honest with you. She would have been what? My 4th choice.
01:19:08 --> 01:19:11 Oh, okay, gotcha. Yeah, so yeah,
01:19:11 --> 01:19:15 okay, uh, I went with the Mahoney person thinking that it might
01:19:15 --> 01:19:18 have been her because you know, because back then, you know, it probably
01:19:19 --> 01:19:22 was mixed races, you know. So,
01:19:23 --> 01:19:27 okay, but okay, all right. I'm gonna— I have to check Miss Crumpler
01:19:27 --> 01:19:31 out though. That's, that's great to hear. And she got Delaware roots too. We keep
01:19:31 --> 01:19:35 finding about all the— keep finding out about all these people that Delaware roots
01:19:35 --> 01:19:39 that did great things, you know. Crazy, ain't it? Yeah,
01:19:39 --> 01:19:43 I know. We gotta— that's something we need to We
01:19:43 --> 01:19:46 might need to do a show just talking about stuff like that, right?
01:19:47 --> 01:19:51 Okay, so we'll do that. All right, all right,
01:19:51 --> 01:19:54 folks. Well, we appreciate you taking the time to listen to us
01:19:54 --> 01:19:58 once again. Um, thank you for supporting us all these
