Hosts Dave Coker and Leonard Young break down hot headlines and local happenings in a lively episode. They discuss a controversial UFC moment where a fighter mocked Michelle Obama, the ensuing lawsuits and a broader conversation about whether free speech has gone too far.
The hosts also cover a viral campaign sign misspelling in Florida, Elon Musk becoming the world’s first documented trillionaire after SpaceX’s IPO, and the court-ordered removal of Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center.
Rounding out the show, Dave and Len touch on World Cup excitement in the Philly area, a packed reggae festival, and Juneteenth events, encouraging listeners to weigh in on the issues.
00:00:32 --> 00:00:33 I'm from the South, but some of the most beautiful... All right.

00:01:24 --> 00:01:26 Hanging out with my partner, Mr. Leonard Young. What's going on,
00:01:26 --> 00:01:31 sir? Hey, Dave. Everything is good. This is Leonard Young, CEO of National Black
00:01:31 --> 00:01:38 Guide, DelawareBlack.com, Black media expert, all-around good guy. How goes it, Dave?
00:01:39 --> 00:01:44 It goes all right, man. I can't complain. I swear I'll be sitting there.
00:01:44 --> 00:01:48 I'll be saying, you know, sometimes it sounds like you say National Black God.
00:01:48 --> 00:01:50 I was going to say, that's right, folks.
00:01:51 --> 00:01:56 My friend is the national black god of everything like that but you know dave
00:01:56 --> 00:02:00 it's funny you say that i i thought about making a post on facebook but i just
00:02:00 --> 00:02:02 didn't want it to sound crazy,
00:02:02 --> 00:02:08 but the post was going to say something like how black are you and they you
00:02:08 --> 00:02:15 know i think i would challenge a lot of people to say they're blacker than i am uh.
00:02:16 --> 00:02:19 Leonard i don't think you want to do that Well, okay.
00:02:19 --> 00:02:25 Well, here. So, Dave, let's go through the statistics, right? Okay. All right.
00:02:26 --> 00:02:28 Okay. First of all, I'm black.
00:02:29 --> 00:02:34 Both of my parents are black. Okay. I went to an HBCU.
00:02:35 --> 00:02:41 I'm a black business owner. My wife is black and prior to,
00:02:42 --> 00:02:47 Okay. And I mean, I could go on with some other blackness type thing,
00:02:47 --> 00:02:51 but, you know, Dave, I mean, not everybody can kind of say those.
00:02:52 --> 00:02:56 But, you know, I was like, you know, this may be too controversial because it's
00:02:56 --> 00:02:58 not a I'm better than, it's not a put down.
00:02:58 --> 00:03:04 It's just like, damn, you know, there's a lot of blackness in my life with the
00:03:04 --> 00:03:10 businesses. Like, Dave, every business I have is darn near a black related business.
00:03:11 --> 00:03:17 Okay DelawareBlack.com National Black Guide MBG Podcast Network GNR Campground
00:03:17 --> 00:03:24 Culture Check you know what I mean it's kind of like but anyway I digress Dave how was your weekend?
00:03:25 --> 00:03:30 You know as you were sitting there talking you know funny thought came in my mind I was like.
00:03:31 --> 00:03:35 One of my favorite funny movies of all time I'm Gonna Get You Sucker oh mine
00:03:35 --> 00:03:43 too yeah remember when they asked Jack What makes you think you could be a superhero?
00:03:43 --> 00:03:45 I mean, be a black hero.
00:03:46 --> 00:03:52 What was it? He said, I played football. Oh, yeah.
00:03:56 --> 00:03:58 That's what it sounded like when you were doing that just then.
00:03:58 --> 00:04:02 He said, I'm an ex-football player.
00:04:04 --> 00:04:08 And then Jim Brown said, well, he got you there. Got you there.
00:04:08 --> 00:04:13 You know, so, but I mean, you know, you got some good qualifications,
00:04:13 --> 00:04:18 you know, but, you know, what can you say? But, yeah, we could we could we could
00:04:18 --> 00:04:21 had that we could had that argument one day. We'll we'll hear you later.
00:04:22 --> 00:04:25 We'll do another episode on Leonard's Corner one day.
00:04:26 --> 00:04:30 OK, there you go. All right. Whenever you do that anyway, but everything else
00:04:31 --> 00:04:33 is good, man. Just hanging hanging in there.
00:04:34 --> 00:04:41 Just trying to keep it cool because it was some warm days in there for the last week, man. Yeah, yeah.
00:04:42 --> 00:04:47 Yeah, and it wasn't just warm. It was humid, and that didn't help.
00:04:47 --> 00:04:53 Yeah, that didn't help at all. Are you guys setting up for June Jam right now?
00:04:53 --> 00:04:59 Yeah, yeah. I mean, so luckily, June Jam has their own organization.
00:04:59 --> 00:05:02 They have a lot of volunteers. I mean, they actually do a lot of their own stuff.
00:05:02 --> 00:05:08 So this one, we really get to kind of, I mean, we're the host,
00:05:08 --> 00:05:12 but we don't, we're not working as hard as we work, you know,
00:05:13 --> 00:05:15 if that makes sense. For the other.
00:05:16 --> 00:05:20 Is that what you're hearing say? Say it one more time? Yeah.
00:05:21 --> 00:05:26 So then that starts when? This weekend? Yeah. So, I mean, the actual first day
00:05:26 --> 00:05:33 of the actual event is Friday. But, you know, people come in a little earlier. Okay.
00:05:34 --> 00:05:38 And is there a big headliner for that?
00:05:39 --> 00:05:44 Yes, there is, but they don't get me to lie. They'll get you started. Okay, all right.
00:05:45 --> 00:05:49 See, folks, this is why you have to question his blackness sometimes because,
00:05:50 --> 00:05:56 you know, this guy, man, you know, this is happening on his black campground,
00:05:56 --> 00:05:59 as he says, you know, black on campground.
00:05:59 --> 00:06:02 Yeah. What's going on there?
00:06:04 --> 00:06:08 But anyway if you guys are interested in doing anything this weekend you want
00:06:08 --> 00:06:12 to hear uh because they do a lot of country folk type stuff no it's more like
00:06:12 --> 00:06:16 soft rock country maybe even a little bit of rock,
00:06:17 --> 00:06:22 okay so if you guys look into just listen to music period if you're music lovers
00:06:22 --> 00:06:23 and you're looking for something to do,
00:06:24 --> 00:06:27 you guys especially you guys that have already been down to the campground for
00:06:27 --> 00:06:32 other events especially the black music festival that just went on down there recently,
00:06:32 --> 00:06:34 you might want to go down and check that out.
00:06:34 --> 00:06:39 You know, so, you know, it might be something worthwhile. You know,
00:06:39 --> 00:06:44 there's a lot of music events coming up over the next couple of months in Delaware,
00:06:44 --> 00:06:46 so this would be one of those things to do.
00:06:48 --> 00:06:56 All right. There, y'all. Keep them busy. So find something for them to do down there. Why? So...
00:06:57 --> 00:07:01 I guess we'll go ahead and get into our stories. We've got a few things that
00:07:01 --> 00:07:03 we want to talk to you guys about tonight.
00:07:04 --> 00:07:08 The first one is, I figure we'll have a little discussion.
00:07:10 --> 00:07:17 So, unless you guys have been on rock, and I assume a lot of you haven't been,
00:07:17 --> 00:07:21 including my co-hosts, I know you know about this story too, right?
00:07:22 --> 00:07:25 Right? No, so I think I'm here for the first time.
00:07:26 --> 00:07:30 Are you serious? Yeah. I mean, you know, the, the, Oh, okay. I didn't hear that.
00:07:31 --> 00:07:34 Okay. Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. All right.
00:07:36 --> 00:07:44 That was great to say. So I kind of, I, I kind of put this little conversation.
00:07:44 --> 00:07:47 I want to have a little quick discussion about this.
00:07:47 --> 00:07:52 I kind of used her as the backdrop for this conversation.
00:07:52 --> 00:07:59 But for those people who knew a couple nights ago, well, over the weekend,
00:08:00 --> 00:08:01 I think it was Sunday, right?
00:08:02 --> 00:08:03 That they did the UFC stuff?
00:08:04 --> 00:08:08 Yeah, I'm not sure what day it is. I think it was Sunday or maybe Saturday.
00:08:09 --> 00:08:15 The president celebrating his 80th birthday and, of course, using the 250-year
00:08:15 --> 00:08:22 anniversary of the country as a backdrop because he's been using that to his benefit the whole time.
00:08:22 --> 00:08:28 They have a big UFC event on the front lawn of the White House.
00:08:29 --> 00:08:36 They built a whole wrestling arena, a square arena for that,
00:08:36 --> 00:08:41 and they had all these preliminary fights leading up to the big fight.
00:08:42 --> 00:08:45 And, but there was one particular fight.
00:08:46 --> 00:08:52 Where, and I'm not even going to mention the guy's name, but I just want to call him a knucklehead.
00:08:52 --> 00:09:00 That's what I want to call him. Gets up, he's being interviewed after the fight by Joe Rogan.
00:09:00 --> 00:09:06 And the guy takes the opportunity to say, after the interview,
00:09:06 --> 00:09:09 he says, oh, and another thing.
00:09:10 --> 00:09:13 And he just blurts out, Michelle Obama is a man.
00:09:14 --> 00:09:19 And he laughs and he gives the mic back to Joe Rogan Who's also laughing And
00:09:19 --> 00:09:25 he walks out of the arena On his way out Another laughing person shakes his
00:09:25 --> 00:09:28 hand And that was the guy in D.C.
00:09:29 --> 00:09:36 The guy they call president You know Shook his hand and he was laughing too Now I understand,
00:09:37 --> 00:09:39 Freedom of speech is something that
00:09:39 --> 00:09:44 we all value Something that we have a right to do and a right to have.
00:09:45 --> 00:09:53 But sometimes you can take it too far. And I think in all that goes on in social media.
00:09:55 --> 00:10:01 Excuse me, all that goes on in social media and on TV and all the different
00:10:01 --> 00:10:06 media types, we have stretched it to the limit.
00:10:07 --> 00:10:14 And when a guy goes live like that and in a wrestling, I mean,
00:10:14 --> 00:10:18 in a UFC fight, and that has tons and tons of people there.
00:10:19 --> 00:10:24 And he says something against a former first lady, especially something that
00:10:24 --> 00:10:32 makes a reference to her sexuality, as far as her being something other than
00:10:32 --> 00:10:33 what she presents herself to be.
00:10:35 --> 00:10:40 That's just not right. I know when I heard it, when I saw the video and heard
00:10:40 --> 00:10:43 it for the first time, I was appalled.
00:10:44 --> 00:10:48 Regardless of the relationship, whether you like Michelle Obama or not,
00:10:49 --> 00:10:50 she didn't deserve that.
00:10:51 --> 00:10:56 And she was catching strays for some reason. And we don't even know what really
00:10:56 --> 00:10:59 motivated that, whether it was the almighty dollar.
00:10:59 --> 00:11:05 Because people, you know, there's a conspiracy theory that people say that he
00:11:05 --> 00:11:07 was paid to do it, you know.
00:11:07 --> 00:11:13 And just the reaction of Rogan and the president, they didn't seem to be flustered
00:11:13 --> 00:11:17 about it or anything like that. They kind of welcomed it.
00:11:18 --> 00:11:22 What's your thoughts on this whole thing? Do you think that it was right and
00:11:22 --> 00:11:26 that do you think that we've gotten carried away with being able to say the
00:11:26 --> 00:11:30 stuff that we are able to say without any consequences,
00:11:30 --> 00:11:33 because we know the president of the United States does it all the time.
00:11:34 --> 00:11:38 Yeah, I mean, I do agree. You know, I think it's gotten really out of hand.
00:11:38 --> 00:11:43 You know, I think when our, or I will say our forefathers, but it's probably their forefathers,
00:11:44 --> 00:11:47 you know, when they were talking about freedom of speech, they were,
00:11:48 --> 00:11:55 in my opinion, talking more about, you know, being able to voice your speech.
00:11:56 --> 00:11:59 And I won't even say opinion, but you were, you know, you were able to have
00:11:59 --> 00:12:05 a voice regarding injustices, things that are going on without being persecuted.
00:12:05 --> 00:12:09 You know, I don't think they intended for you to just get up there and talk
00:12:10 --> 00:12:14 crazy and reckless about people and, you know, just kind of move on.
00:12:14 --> 00:12:15 So, I mean, I think it is crazy.
00:12:16 --> 00:12:20 I actually only heard that clip this morning. I heard it.
00:12:21 --> 00:12:25 Yeah. Cause I, you know, I, the last couple of days I just have not been on
00:12:25 --> 00:12:29 social media like that so when i heard it and it's funny because my wife was
00:12:29 --> 00:12:33 in the car and and my wife had a great point because she's like you know what,
00:12:34 --> 00:12:40 we live rent-free in these people's heads for like you know for so long you
00:12:40 --> 00:12:45 know he's on a big stage like this you know fighting for the ufc and they,
00:12:46 --> 00:12:52 i i watched ufc periodically this was not somebody i've recognized no i wasn't anybody And, you know.
00:12:53 --> 00:12:55 We watched it together.
00:12:55 --> 00:13:01 So, you know, it's pain, but I knew the guy who won the main fight, I knew who he was.
00:13:02 --> 00:13:06 But I didn't know this guy at all. Right. So for this guy to have this chance
00:13:06 --> 00:13:11 to speak to the world and he's worried about Michelle Obama,
00:13:12 --> 00:13:15 you know, she's not even, she's not in office.
00:13:15 --> 00:13:18 She's not bothering. You know, I mean, it's like and, you know,
00:13:18 --> 00:13:21 that's why, you know, my wife was like, you know, we live in these people has
00:13:21 --> 00:13:26 rent free, you know, like they're still bashing Obama.
00:13:26 --> 00:13:30 Obama hasn't been president for over 10 years, you know.
00:13:30 --> 00:13:33 So, you know, I just think it's crazy.
00:13:34 --> 00:13:39 And they unfortunately, I've seen a lot of black people chiming in,
00:13:39 --> 00:13:42 too, which to me is just odd.
00:13:42 --> 00:13:46 But to be honest, you know, I just think it's, you know, one of the things where
00:13:46 --> 00:13:49 you can't say anything intelligent. So you're just going to make something up.
00:13:50 --> 00:13:51 That's kind of my opinion.
00:13:52 --> 00:13:58 Yeah, I agree with you, Leonard. I truly do. And I just think that it's unfortunate.
00:13:59 --> 00:14:03 That Trump can't seem to get the Obamas out of his head. I think,
00:14:04 --> 00:14:06 I don't know if you noticed the pattern.
00:14:07 --> 00:14:08 There's a pattern with him.
00:14:09 --> 00:14:16 And that pattern always seems to be any time he hears about his approval rating.
00:14:17 --> 00:14:20 Going down and how he's not,
00:14:21 --> 00:14:27 you know, a fan favorite of, you know, except for his people that are two MAGA people.
00:14:28 --> 00:14:34 He does something happens that causes an uproar you know what i mean if you
00:14:34 --> 00:14:38 think about some of the things that have happened over the last couple years,
00:14:38 --> 00:14:45 around sitting around him it always seems to be when his approval rating is real real real low,
00:14:46 --> 00:14:51 and then all of a sudden something happens that causes him to be in the news
00:14:51 --> 00:14:55 again and of course causes his followers to be,
00:14:56 --> 00:15:00 you know all hyped and everything because i've been reading comments and so
00:15:00 --> 00:15:02 forth for the last couple days about this,
00:15:03 --> 00:15:09 and you know it's a sensitive subject because you know of course you know people
00:15:09 --> 00:15:12 have alluded to stuff before surrounding michelle obama,
00:15:13 --> 00:15:18 but not to the fact that you can go on to a stage like that,
00:15:18 --> 00:15:23 when all of those people and you know as far as the people who are viewing on
00:15:23 --> 00:15:29 social media and so forth and just make a blanket statement like that. I believe he was paid.
00:15:30 --> 00:15:35 You know, it just makes no sense. Why would you send this particular guy to,
00:15:35 --> 00:15:38 the ring and have him say something like that?
00:15:39 --> 00:15:42 Right. I think he was paid. I personally do.
00:15:43 --> 00:15:47 But see, you can't mess with an educated black person.
00:15:48 --> 00:15:53 Okay? Especially that one. Right. So did you hear what she's already done?
00:15:54 --> 00:15:58 So I heard a statement. I just wasn't sure if it was old or not, but I'll let you tell it.
00:15:59 --> 00:16:05 She has already sued. She put three different lawsuits in.
00:16:07 --> 00:16:11 She went out and got her, you know, some of the highest-ranked attorneys.
00:16:12 --> 00:16:18 They were doing a lawsuit to freeze his winnings from that event.
00:16:19 --> 00:16:26 They were doing a lawsuit to do a cease and desist as far as mentioning her
00:16:26 --> 00:16:30 name and saying anything about her.
00:16:31 --> 00:16:34 They also sued the whole UFC,
00:16:37 --> 00:16:40 for putting on that event. Then there was something else she sued for.
00:16:40 --> 00:16:44 I mean, she's suing for like, she ain't playing. I'm telling you. No, no.
00:16:45 --> 00:16:49 And then she says if she wins, she plans on giving all the money to a charity
00:16:49 --> 00:16:55 or a couple of charities, you know, oh, for black for charities that help black women.
00:16:57 --> 00:17:00 Yeah, I'm not mad. Yeah. Yeah. So. So.
00:17:00 --> 00:17:07 But she she is not playing. They said the law was talking about it this morning on the news.
00:17:07 --> 00:17:12 They were saying this whole team of lawyers she's putting together,
00:17:13 --> 00:17:15 USC don't want them coming down on.
00:17:17 --> 00:17:22 So it's going to be interesting because she's not going to go away quietly.
00:17:24 --> 00:17:28 They're going to pay for this. They definitely are. and you know especially
00:17:28 --> 00:17:32 the whole defamation of characters part of the L.C.
00:17:32 --> 00:17:37 You know so but she's not gonna go away quietly now she's not gonna do a verbal
00:17:37 --> 00:17:42 sparring in public that's not how they handle things they're not gonna do that,
00:17:43 --> 00:17:44 but she's gonna get them where it hurts,
00:17:45 --> 00:17:53 you know so so I ain't mad at her so but I and then before we move on I just want to say,
00:17:54 --> 00:17:57 You know, freedom of speech has really gotten out of hand. When you look at
00:17:57 --> 00:18:04 the, you know, we send posts to each other all the time in reference to different
00:18:04 --> 00:18:06 things that we see and read and so forth.
00:18:07 --> 00:18:12 You can say and get away with anything on social media right now. Yep, just about.
00:18:12 --> 00:18:16 Just about anything. And nobody's going to check you. Nobody's going to say
00:18:16 --> 00:18:21 anything. Now, and people do it, you know, to get people to react and whatever.
00:18:22 --> 00:18:23 The comment section is always lit.
00:18:25 --> 00:18:29 It doesn't matter. The comment section is usually lit. If you put up the right
00:18:29 --> 00:18:31 thing, you want to get a reaction.
00:18:32 --> 00:18:36 And this is just really, really just where we are right now.
00:18:36 --> 00:18:41 And it's sad because it all started when this guy first got in office.
00:18:42 --> 00:18:49 You know, I mean, remember how we used to hate Reagan. We used to hate the Bushes. Mm-hmm.
00:18:52 --> 00:18:56 You know how we would love to have any one of them back in office right about now?
00:18:56 --> 00:19:01 You know, at least they were not ignorant or at least they, I mean,
00:19:01 --> 00:19:04 you know, we know that, you know, they wasn't well, they knew they wasn't well
00:19:04 --> 00:19:11 liked, but they didn't do anything to, you know, to the avail that.
00:19:12 --> 00:19:15 And, you know, I think it goes to.
00:19:16 --> 00:19:18 And I mean, we don't know what happened behind closed doors,
00:19:18 --> 00:19:23 but to the public facing side, you know, those people had dignity.
00:19:23 --> 00:19:25 They had some type of morals.
00:19:26 --> 00:19:31 There was almost a like a class system of being the president.
00:19:31 --> 00:19:35 You know, there are certain things you shouldn't do at president.
00:19:35 --> 00:19:36 There's certain things you should.
00:19:37 --> 00:19:40 And, you know, Donald Trump doesn't have any of those, you know,
00:19:40 --> 00:19:45 and I mean, he does whatever he wants, but, you know, the way he speaks to people,
00:19:45 --> 00:19:49 the way he puts people down, the way he's rude, you know what I mean?
00:19:49 --> 00:19:52 It's like all that is not there.
00:19:53 --> 00:19:57 And I feel like even though we didn't like the prior president because of the
00:19:57 --> 00:20:02 politics, a lot of people don't like Donald Trump just because he's,
00:20:02 --> 00:20:04 you know, he acts how he acts.
00:20:05 --> 00:20:09 That's true. That is so true. And this is really a shame because we are in a
00:20:09 --> 00:20:14 place that it's all reflective of who we are.
00:20:14 --> 00:20:19 And of course, you know, every event he does, when you look at the majority
00:20:19 --> 00:20:23 of the people that are there, you might see a few of us sprinkled in there from
00:20:23 --> 00:20:27 time to time. Now, it seems to be a lot less of us going to his events today.
00:20:28 --> 00:20:31 Than there was before. You know what I mean?
00:20:31 --> 00:20:36 Mm-hmm. So, but, you know, but they all look like, I mean, I hate to say it,
00:20:36 --> 00:20:41 but they all look like Klan rallies to me, you know, everything that he does, you know.
00:20:42 --> 00:20:45 Even that UFC fight, I was looking at the crowd, man. Mm-hmm. That's white people.
00:20:47 --> 00:20:52 That's so funny. I saw a pre-social media clip of, I guess, Michael Irvin going
00:20:52 --> 00:20:55 up there with his white fiance. Yeah, I saw that.
00:20:57 --> 00:21:02 Yeah. Yeah, there were a few. I mean, you know, a lot of guys have ties to Donald
00:21:02 --> 00:21:08 Trump to go back to years, you know, to the USFL days and all of that stuff.
00:21:08 --> 00:21:12 And, you know, so a lot of those athletes and so forth, you know.
00:21:13 --> 00:21:16 They really liked him back then, you know.
00:21:16 --> 00:21:22 But this Donald Trump is not the same Donald Trump. His second act is definitely a horrible act.
00:21:22 --> 00:21:26 Right. It definitely is. So, but I just wanted to, you know,
00:21:27 --> 00:21:31 get people's thoughts on what they think about freedom of speech and how it's
00:21:31 --> 00:21:35 changing. How is it? We need to stop calling it freedom of speech.
00:21:35 --> 00:21:39 We just need to say speech because that's all it is.
00:21:40 --> 00:21:46 You know, we don't have the whole freedom part of it. Yeah, we know we can say whatever we want to.
00:21:47 --> 00:21:53 But unfortunately, the stuff that we say, you know, we don't care whether it
00:21:53 --> 00:22:01 hurts people, whether it's truth or whether it's lies or we just don't care.
00:22:01 --> 00:22:10 And that's the part that is really, really bad. That's the part that we really need to fix if we can.
00:22:10 --> 00:22:13 I don't know how we can fix it, but it needs to be fixed.
00:22:14 --> 00:22:18 That's what I'm going to say. But anyway. Understood.
00:22:19 --> 00:22:23 You guys can give us your opinion, you know, on that particular subject.
00:22:23 --> 00:22:25 I'm sure people have a lot to say.
00:22:26 --> 00:22:29 All right. Moving on to our next story.
00:22:31 --> 00:22:34 Yeah, so. We knew it was coming. We knew it was coming.
00:22:35 --> 00:22:38 Yeah, so this is something I saw. In fact, I just heard this online,
00:22:38 --> 00:22:41 too, on The Breakfast Club, and I actually had to Google for myself because I couldn't believe it.
00:22:42 --> 00:22:47 But Dave, you know, we talked about Brian Donald before the black man who was
00:22:47 --> 00:22:54 running for governor of Florida, you know, one of Trump's house Negroes,
00:22:55 --> 00:22:57 if I can say that through my freedom of speech.
00:22:58 --> 00:23:03 And, you know, I thought it was interesting. So they talked about recently he
00:23:03 --> 00:23:12 was at a special campaign presentation where he was promoting his...
00:23:14 --> 00:23:20 His plan to increase literacy in the state of Florida. And the name of the program
00:23:20 --> 00:23:22 is called Read to Succeed.
00:23:23 --> 00:23:27 Now, basically during this, he's talking about, you know, when children come
00:23:27 --> 00:23:31 into the third grade, you'll have every door open ahead of them.
00:23:32 --> 00:23:38 When they fall behind doors of opportunity, when they fall behind doors of opportunity
00:23:38 --> 00:23:43 are closed. So basically he's saying that every kid in third grade should know how to read.
00:23:43 --> 00:23:48 If they don't know how to read by third grade, then it just kind of gets harder for them as it goes on.
00:23:49 --> 00:23:57 So while he's there and he's speaking from this podium, he has a sign under
00:23:57 --> 00:24:01 it that says, and I'm trying to look at that. Okay. Yep.
00:24:02 --> 00:24:06 And the sign says, I'm trying to find it without clicking on this.
00:24:06 --> 00:24:10 I don't want the music to come but let me just see real quick. Yep.
00:24:10 --> 00:24:14 So the sign says read to succeed.
00:24:15 --> 00:24:18 And then underneath it has the word achievability. Have you heard,
00:24:18 --> 00:24:20 you already heard, here's a story?
00:24:20 --> 00:24:24 No. Okay. So under it, it has the word achievability.
00:24:25 --> 00:24:29 And you know, he's talking about how Florida needs to be better than all these
00:24:29 --> 00:24:32 other blue states that are having reading problems.
00:24:34 --> 00:24:41 And Dave, would you believe the sign has a word spelled wrong on it? Oh, I did see that.
00:24:41 --> 00:24:46 Yes, I did see that. I did see it, yeah.
00:24:47 --> 00:24:50 The word achievability is spelled wrong.
00:24:51 --> 00:24:57 And Dave, this sign only has like four words on it.
00:24:57 --> 00:25:02 I know, yeah. It stands out. It definitely stands out. And the word achievability,
00:25:02 --> 00:25:05 which is spelled wrong, is underlined.
00:25:05 --> 00:25:13 So, you know, it's kind of like, so I heard this on The Breakfast Club and Charlamagne
00:25:13 --> 00:25:15 said that, you know, he was the donkey of the day.
00:25:15 --> 00:25:19 And I definitely see why. But, you know, I just think it's so funny that he...
00:25:20 --> 00:25:23 You know, this is how I would feel like when you worry about other people,
00:25:24 --> 00:25:26 you know, you need you really need to be worried about yourself.
00:25:26 --> 00:25:30 He's talking about all these other states that are having issues reading and
00:25:30 --> 00:25:34 he's promoting a read to succeed program.
00:25:34 --> 00:25:35 And it has a word.
00:25:36 --> 00:25:40 Yeah. And it's even underlined. And it's so funny because Charlotte Mayne made a joke.
00:25:41 --> 00:25:48 He was like they probably when they when they designed the uh the sign,
00:25:48 --> 00:25:51 you know how you know how on your computer when there's a word spelled wrong
00:25:51 --> 00:25:56 there's be like a red line under it to let you know spelled wrong yeah yeah
00:25:56 --> 00:26:01 yeah he was like the people who did it probably didn't realize what that meant so they,
00:26:02 --> 00:26:07 so on the banner the red word is underlined in red so it's almost like you know
00:26:07 --> 00:26:10 I don't know, maybe they thought that was a suggestion.
00:26:11 --> 00:26:14 They couldn't read it. They couldn't read it. From the computer.
00:26:15 --> 00:26:17 So, you know, I just wanted to bring that up because, you know,
00:26:17 --> 00:26:21 I just thought that was so funny. And I don't know if he's responded to it publicly
00:26:21 --> 00:26:23 or through, you know, a spokesperson.
00:26:23 --> 00:26:27 But, you know, I would love to just hear what the response is because,
00:26:27 --> 00:26:29 you know, I don't feel like there's too much correcting that.
00:26:30 --> 00:26:33 Well, you know, I will say a little defensively.
00:26:34 --> 00:26:37 For him you know how when you create something,
00:26:38 --> 00:26:45 and you and you you got your thought or even when you're using voice text and,
00:26:45 --> 00:26:50 you put your thought out there and so forth and you're just ready to send it
00:26:50 --> 00:26:54 and then you go back you read it you'd be like oh man that had all kinds of
00:26:54 --> 00:26:57 typo in it you know so you know you ever do that,
00:26:58 --> 00:27:02 not not as uh somebody running for governor no i have not.
00:27:03 --> 00:27:07 Okay, but you have done it Okay, so that's what I thought Yeah.
00:27:08 --> 00:27:12 Now But Dave, for somebody who has staff Personnel.
00:27:13 --> 00:27:20 Like I said Yeah, you have all those people behind you And with you And you
00:27:20 --> 00:27:27 can't have somebody Proofread that before it goes out That is crazy Yeah, that is crazy So,
00:27:27 --> 00:27:32 no That's definitely not a good look But then, you know, sometimes,
00:27:32 --> 00:27:36 you know, situations happen for a reason, if you feel what I mean.
00:27:36 --> 00:27:43 So maybe that will be an opportunity for people to see what they need to see. Because sometimes...
00:27:44 --> 00:27:49 Sometimes the most obvious things are right in front of your face. Yeah.
00:27:49 --> 00:27:53 Okay. And a lot of times we choose not to look at them.
00:27:54 --> 00:27:59 But for those that can see clearly, they will see what they need to see.
00:28:00 --> 00:28:06 And obviously a lot of people saw that the word achievement was spelled wrong. So, you know, so.
00:28:07 --> 00:28:11 But yeah, I did see that. And I started laughing when I saw it.
00:28:11 --> 00:28:15 I didn't read the story. I just said, okay, how dumb can a person be?
00:28:15 --> 00:28:20 And then, but of course, a lot of times, nowadays especially,
00:28:20 --> 00:28:23 when you see something like that, what's one of the first things that come to
00:28:23 --> 00:28:27 your mind when you see a picture like that? When I see a what?
00:28:28 --> 00:28:32 A picture like that that's posted and that other people can see.
00:28:33 --> 00:28:38 What comes to your mind right away? I don't know. AI.
00:28:39 --> 00:28:45 Now, you know, AI, because, you know, at least one thing, AI got to get that spell right.
00:28:46 --> 00:28:49 That's for sure. Well, no, not if it's done on purpose.
00:28:50 --> 00:28:55 So you make the guy look bad. Okay. So you're not saying AI, you think sabotage.
00:28:56 --> 00:29:00 Yeah, yeah. Somebody did that to make him look bad, you know?
00:29:00 --> 00:29:03 I mean, because that, you know, we've seen that happen many times,
00:29:03 --> 00:29:07 many times, you know? Why? Someone like Herschel Walker or like who?
00:29:08 --> 00:29:11 I'm just joking. Just jokes.
00:29:12 --> 00:29:16 You kind of picked somebody out of a car, man.
00:29:17 --> 00:29:21 You know. But anyway. But that's interesting.
00:29:22 --> 00:29:27 I wonder how he's going to overcome that. Let's put that, use that word, overcome that.
00:29:29 --> 00:29:33 Especially down there in the great state of Florida.
00:29:34 --> 00:29:38 Alright. I'm going to move on to my next story.
00:29:38 --> 00:29:44 We saw this coming. We knew it was coming, but apparently it's here.
00:29:44 --> 00:29:51 So it says, the first trillionaire, what Elon Musk's rise says about us.
00:29:52 --> 00:29:54 It says, it may be.
00:29:56 --> 00:30:02 What his rise says about the rest of us. On June 12, 2026, Elon Musk crossed
00:30:02 --> 00:30:07 a financial threshold no human being had ever reached before.
00:30:08 --> 00:30:18 Following SpaceX's historic public offering, his estimated net worth surpassed the $1 trillion mark,
00:30:19 --> 00:30:23 making him the world's first documented trillionaire.
00:30:25 --> 00:30:29 SpaceX's debut was not merely another successful IPO.
00:30:29 --> 00:30:35 It was the largest stock and market offering in history, raising approximately
00:30:35 --> 00:30:43 $75 billion and briefly valuing the company at more than $2 trillion,
00:30:45 --> 00:30:49 making it the sixth largest publicly traded company in America.
00:30:50 --> 00:30:56 Leonard, another, another, what you call Home Depot moment here?
00:30:57 --> 00:31:01 Mm-hmm, apparently. Yeah, we missed out on that. Okay, okay.
00:31:02 --> 00:31:09 More than 4 SpaceX employees reportedly became millionaires overnight as
00:31:09 --> 00:31:11 the company's stock soared. What kind of mess?
00:31:15 --> 00:31:18 Okay, do I need to get a job with SpaceX? Okay.
00:31:22 --> 00:31:26 The event instantly reshaped the landscape of global wealth.
00:31:26 --> 00:31:31 Yet the story is much larger than one man. For generations, Americans have celebrated
00:31:31 --> 00:31:38 the self-made entrepreneur, excuse me, Andre, I mean, Andrew Carnegie symbolized
00:31:38 --> 00:31:40 the Industrial Revolution.
00:31:41 --> 00:31:43 Henry Ford symbolized mass manufacturing.
00:31:44 --> 00:31:50 Bill Gates represented the computer age. Jeff Bezos embodied the internet economy.
00:31:50 --> 00:31:53 Elon Musk may represent something entirely different.
00:31:54 --> 00:31:59 He stands at the intersection of artificial intelligence, space exploration,
00:32:00 --> 00:32:06 electric vehicles, social media, robotics, advanced manufacturing,
00:32:06 --> 00:32:10 satellite communications, and financial technology.
00:32:11 --> 00:32:16 Investors are not merely betting on SpaceX rockets.
00:32:16 --> 00:32:22 They are betting on our future, which most companies help shape transportation,
00:32:22 --> 00:32:31 communications, energy, AI infrastructure, and perhaps even humanities expansion beyond Earth.
00:32:32 --> 00:32:37 Now, to understand a trillion dollars, one must move beyond numbers.
00:32:38 --> 00:32:42 A million seconds equals roughly 11 days.
00:32:43 --> 00:32:47 A billion seconds equals approximately 31 years.
00:32:48 --> 00:32:54 A trillion seconds equals nearly 31 years.
00:32:55 --> 00:33:05 If someone spent $1 million every day, it would take nearly 2 years to spend a trillion dollars.
00:33:06 --> 00:33:13 That's some big numbers right there. It is. Could you imagine a trillion? I only need 1%.
00:33:13 --> 00:33:17 I'd take a half a percent of a trillion. I'd be fine with that.
00:33:19 --> 00:33:22 But we knew it was coming. And you and I talked about this, what,
00:33:23 --> 00:33:26 a year or two ago? We talked about him becoming a trillionaire.
00:33:28 --> 00:33:29 What do you think about that?
00:33:31 --> 00:33:36 I mean, to be honest, I don't know. You know, normally you would want to be
00:33:36 --> 00:33:39 congratulatory that someone reaches that, but because it's him,
00:33:39 --> 00:33:42 it's just like, I don't know.
00:33:42 --> 00:33:45 I mean, I'm kind of null.
00:33:46 --> 00:33:49 You know, I'm definitely not excited for him.
00:33:50 --> 00:33:54 And I think we know he's not going to use any of that money for good.
00:33:54 --> 00:33:59 It's not going to be for public benefit. So to be honest, I don't know.
00:34:00 --> 00:34:03 Yeah, it's really interesting.
00:34:05 --> 00:34:11 You know, it's almost like a trillion would be like stacking a bunch of money
00:34:11 --> 00:34:15 on a football field and covering a football field, you know.
00:34:16 --> 00:34:20 Just to see that kind of, I mean, remember our dream as kids was to be a millionaire.
00:34:21 --> 00:34:22 Now we're in the trillionaire.
00:34:23 --> 00:34:29 That's incredible to me. It really is. And the fact that this guy has made so
00:34:29 --> 00:34:31 much money over the years.
00:34:32 --> 00:34:36 And it's one thing if he was a good guy. I mean, we kind of accepted Bezos a
00:34:36 --> 00:34:42 little bit because of, you know, I mean, he did seem human. You know what I mean? Yeah.
00:34:42 --> 00:34:46 Even, even, even, what do you call him, Bill Gates?
00:34:48 --> 00:34:52 Who definitely seemed more, you know, I mean, he was a great philanthropist.
00:34:53 --> 00:34:58 I didn't get the word out. Philanthropist. But we're not, you know,
00:34:59 --> 00:35:05 we're not particularly fond of Elon Musk because of what he stands for and all
00:35:05 --> 00:35:07 the quirkiness about him. But.
00:35:09 --> 00:35:14 You heard all that stuff I read off that he's involved in. That's crazy.
00:35:15 --> 00:35:18 And he's got his hands on a lot of stuff. But he does.
00:35:19 --> 00:35:24 You know, which is also scary because he kind of controls a lot of stuff.
00:35:25 --> 00:35:27 And he probably controls a lot of stuff we don't even know about,
00:35:27 --> 00:35:33 too. Yeah. Yeah. And especially now with this whole AI and robotics stuff.
00:35:34 --> 00:35:38 Yeah. They said he has robots running around his house. I'm sure.
00:35:39 --> 00:35:43 But, you know, day two, if we think back, I wonder if anyone's ever going to
00:35:43 --> 00:35:49 second guess some of the access that we gave Elon with the whole Doge thing.
00:35:49 --> 00:35:55 Yeah. So now it's kind of like, okay, the person who reached trillionaire status,
00:35:56 --> 00:36:03 last year was going through all of the government departments, all of the files.
00:36:03 --> 00:36:06 You know what I mean? It's kind of like if we look back, like it just sounds
00:36:06 --> 00:36:11 like, you know, he helped make his wealth off of the government.
00:36:11 --> 00:36:13 Yeah, he does. And that's the thing.
00:36:14 --> 00:36:18 And that's what's so scary is because that's what he does. He does make it.
00:36:18 --> 00:36:23 That's where he makes it. money off the government but so does the president,
00:36:24 --> 00:36:28 so there we go so you know so you know,
00:36:29 --> 00:36:31 It's scary, and.
00:36:33 --> 00:36:37 Let's see what happens from this point on, because one man with that kind of
00:36:37 --> 00:36:42 money, I hate to say what I'm thinking as far as that's concerned,
00:36:42 --> 00:36:45 but it's not necessarily a good thing.
00:36:46 --> 00:36:50 But then, you know, he got what? I mean, kids, do you have almost 10 kids,
00:36:50 --> 00:36:52 something like that? There might be more. Yeah, yeah.
00:36:53 --> 00:36:59 Yeah, well, if he claims them all, I'm sure they're set up for life.
00:36:59 --> 00:37:07 So, you know, so anyway, it gives you a headache thinking about all that kind of money, man. So, yeah.
00:37:08 --> 00:37:10 Anyway, I'm going to move on to our next story.
00:37:11 --> 00:37:15 And I wanted to bring this story up because this is something that we talked
00:37:15 --> 00:37:19 about before. And I'm glad that things are changing.
00:37:20 --> 00:37:25 At least it looks like they are. So it says Trump's name removed from Kennedy
00:37:25 --> 00:37:28 Center after Beatty lawsuit.
00:37:31 --> 00:37:39 In a Washingtonian interview, Representative Joyce Beattie says the ruling could
00:37:39 --> 00:37:42 bring artists and donors back.
00:37:42 --> 00:37:47 The move following a federal judge's May 29th ruling that found the Kennedy
00:37:47 --> 00:37:52 Center Board lacked authority to rename the institution after Trump.
00:37:52 --> 00:37:57 The decision also restored voting rights for congressional board members and
00:37:57 --> 00:38:02 halted plans to choose to close the center for two years during renovations.
00:38:03 --> 00:38:13 For Representative Joyce Beatty, the Ohio congressman or congresswoman who challenged
00:38:13 --> 00:38:15 in renaming effort in court,
00:38:16 --> 00:38:20 The outcome represents a major victory in battle, she says, was about protecting
00:38:20 --> 00:38:24 both a cultural institution and the rule of the law.
00:38:24 --> 00:38:32 Speaking with Washingtonian Sylvie McNamara Beatty, described the ruling as
00:38:32 --> 00:38:36 impactful, empowering, emotional, overwhelming, and rewarding.
00:38:36 --> 00:38:39 This is bigger than me, she said.
00:38:39 --> 00:38:43 This is about the American people. This is about the artists,
00:38:43 --> 00:38:46 the performers, the institution, and it's about the rule of law.
00:38:47 --> 00:38:48 How did this move begin?
00:38:49 --> 00:38:55 It was Beatty who served on the Kennedy board since 2019, said the controversy
00:38:55 --> 00:39:03 began during a December board meeting hosted at the Palm Beach home of board member Andrea Wynn.
00:39:04 --> 00:39:09 According to Beatty, a proposal to rename the Kennedy Center after Trump was
00:39:09 --> 00:39:13 introduced despite not appearing on the meeting agenda.
00:39:13 --> 00:39:18 When she attempted to object, she said her microphone was muted. Here we go.
00:39:19 --> 00:39:25 Of all the ex-officiados, I was the only one on that virtual meeting where they
00:39:25 --> 00:39:26 were trying to silence me, she said.
00:39:27 --> 00:39:32 They said that the vote was later characterized as unanimous,
00:39:32 --> 00:39:41 even though she and other ex-officiado board members were not allowed to cast votes.
00:39:42 --> 00:39:45 The incident prompted her to file a lawsuit challenging the board's actions.
00:39:46 --> 00:39:53 When someone is doing something wrong or unlawful, you take it to the courts, Beatty said.
00:39:54 --> 00:39:57 She argued that the dispute was never simply about politics.
00:39:58 --> 00:40:04 You can't assume that just because you're president, you can break the law, she said.
00:40:04 --> 00:40:06 Court victory and removal.
00:40:06 --> 00:40:13 The judge's ruling delivered a significant victory for Beatty and other opponents.
00:40:14 --> 00:40:16 Of the renaming efforts.
00:40:16 --> 00:40:20 In addition to ordering Trump's name removed, the court restored participation
00:40:20 --> 00:40:22 rights for ex-officiato.
00:40:22 --> 00:40:29 Board members and block plans to shut down the Kennedy Center during an extended renovation project.
00:40:29 --> 00:40:33 The decision ultimately led to the removal of Trump's name from the building
00:40:33 --> 00:40:38 and related materials, restoring the institution's original identity.
00:40:39 --> 00:40:43 Beatty said from the ruling sparked an outpouring of support from people who
00:40:43 --> 00:40:49 viewed the Kennedy Center as a treasured national institution.
00:40:49 --> 00:40:51 I say well done.
00:40:52 --> 00:40:54 That is awesome as far as I'm concerned.
00:40:55 --> 00:40:58 I've been there to the Kennedy Center a few times. Have you ever been there?
00:40:59 --> 00:41:04 I am not for, I don't think I have. If you, if you've been there, you would remember.
00:41:04 --> 00:41:12 It's a very, very awesome experience. And I went there to see Porgy and Bess.
00:41:12 --> 00:41:14 I went there for Guys and Dolls.
00:41:16 --> 00:41:19 And another show I went to see. I've been there at least three times.
00:41:19 --> 00:41:28 And it was a beautiful theater, a lot of history. You can feel the history when you walk into the place.
00:41:28 --> 00:41:32 And I just remember when we had this conversation about him naming,
00:41:33 --> 00:41:37 you know, putting his name on the building and how, you know,
00:41:37 --> 00:41:40 people said they wasn't going to perform there and all of that kind of stuff,
00:41:41 --> 00:41:44 you know, because of what he was doing.
00:41:44 --> 00:41:49 Or, you know, now they can get these people back in the fold again and start
00:41:49 --> 00:41:53 having the type of classy events and so forth that they used to have.
00:41:54 --> 00:41:59 I remember then we were talking about how couldn't he just go around and put his name on everything?
00:41:59 --> 00:42:01 It just didn't make sense.
00:42:02 --> 00:42:06 And why didn't anybody stop him? This young lady is a black woman.
00:42:06 --> 00:42:11 And, you know, she was not having it. And the fact that you're going to mute
00:42:11 --> 00:42:13 her mic so she can't boot,
00:42:14 --> 00:42:18 you know, do the stuff that they did and didn't say it was a unanimous boot
00:42:18 --> 00:42:22 when she had nothing to do with it and some of her colleagues,
00:42:22 --> 00:42:24 that's messed up, you know.
00:42:24 --> 00:42:26 So I think it's a great victory.
00:42:27 --> 00:42:31 What do you think? No, I mean, I agree. I think it's definitely a victory and
00:42:31 --> 00:42:37 hopefully, you know, more follow after this and slowly, but surely more people
00:42:37 --> 00:42:39 will, you know, kind of start to stand up.
00:42:40 --> 00:42:44 To, you know, Donald Trump and his regime.
00:42:45 --> 00:42:48 Yeah, I mean, because he's putting it, you know, he's trying to put his name on everything.
00:42:48 --> 00:42:53 He's trying to put his mark on everything as though, you know, he did it or whatever.
00:42:53 --> 00:42:58 I wouldn't be surprised, but everything that he's doing, that he's touching
00:42:58 --> 00:43:04 and making changes to, that there's some type of, you know how people steal
00:43:04 --> 00:43:07 people's publishing and contracts and, you know.
00:43:09 --> 00:43:13 The small writing and everything that he's putting something that's small writing.
00:43:14 --> 00:43:17 After so many years, this is going to be mine and you, you know,
00:43:17 --> 00:43:22 any monetary money coming into these places would be go directly to him.
00:43:23 --> 00:43:32 So, great job by, you know, Representative Beatty and that she definitely took
00:43:32 --> 00:43:34 a chance on challenging.
00:43:34 --> 00:43:38 But I'm glad that she felt that this was something that had to be done.
00:43:38 --> 00:43:42 And his name does not need to be on that building. And thank God,
00:43:42 --> 00:43:46 because we hate to see what, if they were going to close it down for two years
00:43:46 --> 00:43:50 while they do the renovation, of course, we know his name and picture was going
00:43:50 --> 00:43:52 to be everywhere. Probably in the seats, too.
00:43:53 --> 00:43:59 You know so you know anything you want to add there no i mean i think you pretty
00:43:59 --> 00:44:02 much said it all yeah i think so too it's,
00:44:03 --> 00:44:08 you know bravo bravo bravo matter of fact i might have to reach out to her and
00:44:08 --> 00:44:12 see we can get her on the show just to talk about it um so matter of fact i
00:44:12 --> 00:44:18 think i might so so but great job great job uh that was a good story i wanted to,
00:44:19 --> 00:44:23 i wanted everyone to hear it because he was just running roughshadow over every night.
00:44:24 --> 00:44:29 So thank God it took one of us to stop him. So yeah, no fear.
00:44:30 --> 00:44:35 Okay, that brings us to Dave's Corner, Leonard's favorite part of the show.
00:44:35 --> 00:44:39 I know everybody, including Leonard, likes to hear this part of the show because,
00:44:40 --> 00:44:43 it makes you guys think a little bit and give you some good scenarios.
00:44:43 --> 00:44:45 But this one's gonna be pretty simple.
00:44:46 --> 00:44:51 We got the World Cup in town, and it's in America, all over,
00:44:51 --> 00:44:55 but it's really affecting this side because it's in Philadelphia.
00:44:56 --> 00:45:00 So I got a simple question. What's your impression of the World Cup so far?
00:45:00 --> 00:45:03 And are you invested or are you not?
00:45:04 --> 00:45:07 So Dave, right now, I'm really not sure. Now I will say, so of course,
00:45:07 --> 00:45:14 you know, here in Delaware, we have the soccer team that's staying with us in Wilmington. Right. So.
00:45:15 --> 00:45:18 I think there's two teams staying in Newark or a couple teams staying in Newark,
00:45:18 --> 00:45:19 too, from what I understand.
00:45:20 --> 00:45:24 Okay, so I wasn't aware. So I know the Ivory Coast soccer team is staying in Wilmington.
00:45:25 --> 00:45:29 And, you know, I watched their welcome party.
00:45:29 --> 00:45:32 They had a lot of people out there cheering for them. Of course,
00:45:32 --> 00:45:36 you know, a lot of them were probably African and, you know, soccer enthusiasts.
00:45:36 --> 00:45:39 But regardless, you know, they had a good turnout. There were a lot of people.
00:45:40 --> 00:45:46 And I knew that they did like a friendly match versus the Philadelphia Union.
00:45:47 --> 00:45:52 When they first got here and they beat the Philadelphia Union 2-0 right?
00:45:52 --> 00:45:56 And then, I don't know, they played Saturday night. So, like,
00:45:56 --> 00:46:00 when I got home from the reggae festival, I was watching the game.
00:46:01 --> 00:46:05 And, you know, Dave, I think, you know, I've watched soccer before.
00:46:06 --> 00:46:11 And if you just turn it on and start watching, there's a certain effect it has,
00:46:11 --> 00:46:17 versus being able to identify with a team, kind of rooting for a team.
00:46:18 --> 00:46:23 So, you know, when I was watching the game, so Saturday night they played Ecuador versus Ivory Coast.
00:46:23 --> 00:46:28 And knowing that I was rooting for Ivory Coast, I was kind of into it, you know.
00:46:28 --> 00:46:32 So, I mean, you know, I mean, it was interesting. And then, Dave,
00:46:32 --> 00:46:35 they scored their goal with like one minute left.
00:46:36 --> 00:46:41 So 0-0 the whole game. And did you watch the game?
00:46:41 --> 00:46:44 No, but I did see that part of the game. Yeah, Dave.
00:46:45 --> 00:46:50 I was flipping back and forth. I was sold at the time. And I see a lot of times
00:46:50 --> 00:46:53 stuff that happens in those games in the last couple of minutes.
00:46:53 --> 00:46:58 So because everybody's trying to score or whatever. But, yeah, I did see the goal.
00:46:58 --> 00:47:01 And I was like, well, and then people went nuts to that stadium.
00:47:01 --> 00:47:05 Oh, yeah, they did. It was even funny when I was watching earlier,
00:47:05 --> 00:47:15 maybe about halfway through a little earlier, Ecuador had two open shots on the goal. And this.
00:47:16 --> 00:47:21 No. it hit, it hit the goal. Like it literally hit the goal and bounced off,
00:47:22 --> 00:47:27 two, two times. And I was like, ah, I was like, thank you. Well, you know, you.
00:47:28 --> 00:47:32 You know how mad you got to be to hit that goalpost and it not go in and go out?
00:47:33 --> 00:47:39 Yeah. But if there had been a couple of inches, that would have been two goals for the other team.
00:47:40 --> 00:47:44 But long story short, I thought it was interesting. And I may even try to go
00:47:44 --> 00:47:48 to one of the games. I know they play this Saturday. I'm not going to be able to go.
00:47:49 --> 00:47:53 And they play the following week, Thursday. I thought they were playing.
00:47:56 --> 00:48:01 Oh, the USA plays Friday. That's right. Yeah. So they played Thursday versus
00:48:01 --> 00:48:04 Germany. I'm sorry, Friday versus Germany would probably be a good game.
00:48:04 --> 00:48:06 I may try to watch it on TV.
00:48:06 --> 00:48:10 Well, you know, tonight Argentina is opening up tonight.
00:48:11 --> 00:48:16 And, you know, that's going to be a big game because of Messi, you know. Right.
00:48:17 --> 00:48:21 And the number two team lost yesterday. Oh, did they? Spain.
00:48:22 --> 00:48:23 Spain was ranked number two.
00:48:25 --> 00:48:29 Who did they lose? Did they lose against Ivory, Kate Verde, or no?
00:48:30 --> 00:48:35 Was that Kate? No. I don't think it was Kate Verde, was it? I know there was,
00:48:35 --> 00:48:38 four matches last night. Let me see.
00:48:41 --> 00:48:44 Well, anyway, let me finish real quick. So Saturday they play Germany,
00:48:44 --> 00:48:49 and then next week, Thursday, they play Curaçao.
00:48:49 --> 00:48:52 They play Curaçao next week, Thursday.
00:48:53 --> 00:48:56 So me and the wife may try to hit up that game. And Dave, I looked at the tickets.
00:48:56 --> 00:49:00 I was like, oh, we're going to be in the...
00:49:00 --> 00:49:02 Them tickets are up there. I heard. I heard.
00:49:03 --> 00:49:09 And I'm sorry. They didn't lose. Spain didn't lose. It was a 0-0 draw against Cape Verde. Okay.
00:49:09 --> 00:49:12 Yeah, that's what it was. And the only reason I knew that, because they said
00:49:12 --> 00:49:16 the goalie for Cape Verde, I guess he did an excellent job.
00:49:16 --> 00:49:22 You know defending that's a 40 year old guy i don't know probably they said
00:49:22 --> 00:49:29 he went from before the game he had 500 000 followers after the game he had 7 million yeah,
00:49:30 --> 00:49:32 yeah that's the 40 year old guy
00:49:32 --> 00:49:36 yeah yeah that's crazy yeah yeah that's 40 yeah he's 40 years old and uh,
00:49:37 --> 00:49:44 he went to 6.7 million something like that well he uh he's at seven now okay
00:49:44 --> 00:49:46 yeah it was 6.7 when That's all. Yeah.
00:49:47 --> 00:49:50 Yeah. That was crazy. I didn't see that. Yeah. So long story short,
00:49:50 --> 00:49:55 to answer your question, I am going to be watching some of the games.
00:49:55 --> 00:49:57 I'm going to be selective, but yes.
00:49:57 --> 00:49:59 Well, of course, we got to watch the USA.
00:50:00 --> 00:50:04 Maybe. Maybe. Okay. Depends on who they're playing. But I'm definitely going
00:50:04 --> 00:50:07 to tune into the Argentina game tonight.
00:50:08 --> 00:50:13 Because I want to see what Messi's going to do. Messi's 39 years old,
00:50:13 --> 00:50:16 but he's still one of the top five players in the world.
00:50:19 --> 00:50:26 So that's going to be interesting. And of course, a couple of the other teams are going to be.
00:50:26 --> 00:50:28 And of course, all the talk was about,
00:50:30 --> 00:50:35 the guys from Congo and the way they showed up. Oh, yeah. Did you see those boys?
00:50:36 --> 00:50:40 Yeah, I did. Steve Harvey was on the radio, you know, having a fit about them
00:50:40 --> 00:50:42 this morning. He was saying, them boys showed up.
00:50:43 --> 00:50:48 He said, y'all know I like to get clean. He said, but I ain't never been as clean as them boys.
00:50:48 --> 00:50:54 Right. So they came in later on some coming to America type stuff, man. Yeah.
00:50:57 --> 00:51:00 Well, you know, even the Ivy Coast team was pretty. Yeah, they were sharp,
00:51:00 --> 00:51:04 too. They were sharp, too. But nobody came in like that team from Congo, though.
00:51:05 --> 00:51:08 Them boys were. Them boys were clean, man.
00:51:09 --> 00:51:16 And they had the matching bags and all of that stuff, man. I was like, bro, that's crazy.
00:51:16 --> 00:51:18 But it's going to be interesting.
00:51:18 --> 00:51:23 I think people will tune in from time to time. I don't think,
00:51:23 --> 00:51:28 I mean, is it the biggest event? Is it bigger than the Olympics? I don't think so.
00:51:30 --> 00:51:33 They actually said, yes, they said this is the biggest event in the world.
00:51:34 --> 00:51:40 Yeah, I guess with the numbers that turn out. I mean, you're packing 70
00:51:40 --> 00:51:44 seats at stadiums, you know.
00:51:44 --> 00:51:46 I mean, packing them, you know.
00:51:46 --> 00:51:49 So, yeah, I guess you're right because the Olympics ain't doing that.
00:51:50 --> 00:51:53 They're not doing that. So, all right.
00:51:53 --> 00:51:56 All right. Well, we'll see. We'll see. What's your guys' opinion?
00:51:56 --> 00:52:03 You can let us know whether you're tuning in to any of these games or not. So, all right.
00:52:04 --> 00:52:07 I want to give a special shout out because you mentioned it and we forgot to
00:52:07 --> 00:52:11 talk about it but the special shout out to the reggae festival they drew over
00:52:11 --> 00:52:15 40 from what I understand they said it was close to 50,
00:52:17 --> 00:52:23 yeah it was packed and Benny Man, Maya you know what you call him what's the other guy Afro B.
00:52:25 --> 00:52:30 So that was a big event and no no issues no no violence nothing happened it
00:52:30 --> 00:52:32 was just a bunch of people having a good time.
00:52:33 --> 00:52:37 And then something else you just said. Something else happened over the weekend.
00:52:37 --> 00:52:40 Juneteenth. Juneteenth.
00:52:41 --> 00:52:48 Yeah, we got Juneteenth. We had the Juneteenth parade and event over at the,
00:52:49 --> 00:52:52 yards there. I wish I could get the name of that place.
00:52:53 --> 00:52:58 What is it called? Tubman Garrett. Tubman Garrett Art over there. That's right.
00:52:59 --> 00:53:03 And then, of course, we got Juneteenth coming up this weekend so for more celebrations
00:53:03 --> 00:53:07 that are going to be going on this weekend so definitely,
00:53:07 --> 00:53:12 you know I just want to say early happy Juneteenth to everyone and definitely
00:53:12 --> 00:53:18 enjoy yourself and check out all the events that are going on out there alright,
00:53:19 --> 00:53:23 guess that's everything so I want to say thank you guys for tuning in again,
00:53:24 --> 00:53:28 and we always look forward to speaking to you each and every Tuesday have a
00:53:28 --> 00:53:30 good night talk to you too.
00:53:39 --> 00:53:44 Tune in next week, ladies and gentlemen, for another edition of News and Trends
00:53:44 --> 00:53:46 with your hosts, Dave and Lynn.
