00:01:08 --> 00:01:13 ceo of national black guide delawareblack.com black
00:01:13 --> 00:01:18 media specialist all around good guy how's it going dave well uh it's gone man
00:01:18 --> 00:01:23 it's definitely been a year since we talked to anybody so you know year has
00:01:23 --> 00:01:29 passed so but happy 2025 and it's good to be on this side of,
00:01:29 --> 00:01:32 the new year as opposed to staying behind you know
00:01:32 --> 00:01:36 yeah yeah we we we what's that
00:01:36 --> 00:01:39 saying mama we made it we made it yeah that's right yeah made
00:01:39 --> 00:01:43 it to a new year man you know so i was sitting there thinking i think i mentioned
00:01:43 --> 00:01:50 this to you or a couple days ago you know just think 25 years ago man we were
00:01:50 --> 00:01:57 wondering if we were going to wake up the next day as a y2k remember you know so oh yeah Yeah.
00:01:58 --> 00:02:00 I mean, we're always worried about the world blowing up.
00:02:01 --> 00:02:05 Yeah, man. You think about that. 25 years ago that happened,
00:02:05 --> 00:02:12 you know, and here it is, you know, you know, we didn't move 25 years past that time.
00:02:12 --> 00:02:15 And I remember, I remember all that craziness.
00:02:15 --> 00:02:21 So, you know, but, you know, we want to say, you know, we hope that everybody
00:02:21 --> 00:02:27 had a great holiday season. This is our first show since since before the holidays.
00:02:27 --> 00:02:31 So we definitely hope that everybody got what they wanted.
00:02:31 --> 00:02:37 I mean, got the fun with their families, friends, or even if they were just
00:02:37 --> 00:02:40 chilling by themselves. We hope that was the gift that you wanted.
00:02:40 --> 00:02:44 So did you guys have a good time for the holiday season? No.
00:02:47 --> 00:02:52 Well, Dave, kind of like I was telling you, we we were in a car accident.
00:02:52 --> 00:02:56 The day before christmas and
00:02:56 --> 00:03:01 then so you know of course that kind of affected christmas a little bit and
00:03:01 --> 00:03:05 then i mean luckily you know we weren't really you know a little sore the next
00:03:05 --> 00:03:08 day but we were fine and then new
00:03:08 --> 00:03:15 year's eve we ended up working at the campground and we went out to eat,
00:03:16 --> 00:03:24 on the way home we went to plaza azteca which i'm not a fan of just fyi mexican
00:03:24 --> 00:03:28 spot you know and bear and dave i would probably sleep around 10 o'clock i i
00:03:28 --> 00:03:30 didn't even make it to the new year.
00:03:31 --> 00:03:34 I did not even make it to the yeah you know what i did
00:03:34 --> 00:03:37 yeah that's right i think i texted you i didn't hear back from you till the
00:03:37 --> 00:03:41 next day or something like that so yeah yeah yeah
00:03:41 --> 00:03:44 i mean you know new year's doesn't have
00:03:44 --> 00:03:48 it doesn't have the bite that it used to have and
00:03:48 --> 00:03:51 you know people are too busy doing their own thing or
00:03:51 --> 00:03:54 engrossed in a lot
00:03:54 --> 00:03:57 of things that you wouldn't
00:03:57 --> 00:04:00 call like new year related 10 years ago
00:04:00 --> 00:04:04 you know what i mean so you know so like i
00:04:04 --> 00:04:07 didn't you know i didn't do much of anything you
00:04:07 --> 00:04:15 know well what'd you do let me see hung out with friends and family Christmas
00:04:15 --> 00:04:22 New Year's I did hang out over at the Riverfront for pre-New Year's party with
00:04:22 --> 00:04:24 Tim over at the Riverfront.
00:04:26 --> 00:04:29 But i mean that was basically the highlight i didn't
00:04:29 --> 00:04:32 you know try to try to just relax because i
00:04:32 --> 00:04:35 was off for most of the time you know so i
00:04:35 --> 00:04:38 was just chilling you know so this time
00:04:38 --> 00:04:41 of year i take a lot of time off yeah now what
00:04:41 --> 00:04:45 what about christmas how was your christmas well that's what i'm saying okay
00:04:45 --> 00:04:53 yeah yeah so christmas yeah but it was good i mean watch football and you know
00:04:53 --> 00:04:59 you know a little bit basketball and and i mean nothing i mean christmas is another day really,
00:05:00 --> 00:05:06 i know you know yeah i mean you know even you don't even know it's christmas.
00:05:08 --> 00:05:13 Anymore you know what i mean yeah i i definitely agree you don't know you don't
00:05:13 --> 00:05:17 know it's christmas i mean you know the only time you can you can see christmas
00:05:17 --> 00:05:23 if you go in the stores like i mean i I had to go into the dollar store on 273
00:05:23 --> 00:05:25 there in that shopping center.
00:05:26 --> 00:05:29 And I went in there just to grab a couple of bags.
00:05:30 --> 00:05:35 Man, that place was jam-packed, man. I was like, well, okay,
00:05:35 --> 00:05:38 everybody, I guess this is where everybody would be.
00:05:40 --> 00:05:42 I couldn't find the bags anywhere else, and they had them.
00:05:43 --> 00:05:45 I'm just going to go in, stand in line, and grab these bags,
00:05:46 --> 00:05:50 man. And so I'm probably in line for probably about a good 30 minutes.
00:05:51 --> 00:05:56 So, but, you know, I got out of there, but that's the only time I could feel
00:05:56 --> 00:06:00 that there was the Christmas was going on because everybody was in there.
00:06:02 --> 00:06:07 I agree. You know, I think for me, the only thing that made me think of Christmas is little kids.
00:06:07 --> 00:06:11 Cause they, you know, my teenagers, they, you know, they could care less.
00:06:11 --> 00:06:13 It's more like, what am I getting?
00:06:13 --> 00:06:16 And half of them are, they, you know, for most of our kids already know
00:06:16 --> 00:06:19 what they get in because you know most parents aren't out here trying to waste
00:06:19 --> 00:06:27 not a dime yeah yeah now of course you may get some clothes that you ain't want
00:06:27 --> 00:06:31 didn't ask for but you know other than that you know the main stuff you get
00:06:31 --> 00:06:37 is probably on your list look a friend of mine was telling me about her daughter who's a teenager,
00:06:38 --> 00:06:43 the what she's a senior in high school and she wanted this gucci purse,
00:06:45 --> 00:06:48 so the mom was like
00:06:48 --> 00:06:53 my friend was like i don't have a gucci purse why would i buy her a gucci right
00:06:53 --> 00:06:58 you know that type of thing right so she bought a really nice purse it was it
00:06:58 --> 00:07:04 was a i think it was the michael kors that she got a really good deal on right
00:07:04 --> 00:07:08 she said her daughter looked at it and said, I don't want this.
00:07:08 --> 00:07:12 She said, this is not Gucci. All my friends have Gucci. She said,
00:07:13 --> 00:07:14 all my friends have Gucci.
00:07:14 --> 00:07:18 She said, it's a Michael Kors. She said, yeah, that's the last year.
00:07:21 --> 00:07:24 I just said, what'd you do? She said, I took it back to the store.
00:07:25 --> 00:07:30 I said, did you get the Gucci? She said, no, I'm not getting anything.
00:07:31 --> 00:07:35 So, so she said that she got her money back and she said, forget about her.
00:07:36 --> 00:07:42 You know she said she said look because she and i grew up she and i grew up
00:07:42 --> 00:07:42 in the same neighborhood.
00:07:44 --> 00:07:48 And she's younger than me but we still live in the same neighborhood at the
00:07:48 --> 00:07:52 same time and she said look dave she said you know how we came up she said you
00:07:52 --> 00:07:55 know what our pitch she said i did exactly what my parents would do you don't
00:07:55 --> 00:07:59 like it yeah you get back and you don't get nothing,
00:07:59 --> 00:08:03 you know and she said she said her daughter kept keeps
00:08:03 --> 00:08:06 bothering her asking her about when she's want to get her bag her
00:08:06 --> 00:08:09 purse she said look i'm not buying you no purse i bought
00:08:09 --> 00:08:12 you one you didn't want it and i bought you a very
00:08:12 --> 00:08:16 nice one she said i should have kept it for myself you know
00:08:16 --> 00:08:19 she spent good money on that on that michael kors
00:08:19 --> 00:08:22 purse and the daughter went no parts of it the gucci purse
00:08:22 --> 00:08:26 that she wanted i said well how much was it she said she said
00:08:26 --> 00:08:28 on sale the cheapest she could
00:08:28 --> 00:08:36 find the gucci purse was 300 oh wow on sale yeah well they she she might have
00:08:36 --> 00:08:39 to tell her that that's your what is it used to do back in the day this your
00:08:39 --> 00:08:44 christmas birthday and half of your next christmas yeah there you are look i
00:08:44 --> 00:08:46 would i would have sent her a picture of it in the email.
00:08:47 --> 00:08:53 That's what i would have done you know so say there you go there's a gucci right
00:08:53 --> 00:08:56 there you know So I don't know if you may be able to use it anytime,
00:08:56 --> 00:08:58 but, you know, it is what it is.
00:08:58 --> 00:09:02 So, but yeah, that's where we are nowadays, man. I mean, it's crazy.
00:09:02 --> 00:09:06 Well, you know, Dave, that's why I said, and Dave, you know,
00:09:06 --> 00:09:13 I hate to make it sound like we're slaves, but if it ain't on their list, I ain't getting it.
00:09:16 --> 00:09:19 But the thing about this you spend all your hard-earned money
00:09:19 --> 00:09:22 you try to get them nice so because you know michael kors
00:09:22 --> 00:09:28 is still luxury it's still quality oh yeah oh no you look ain't too many people
00:09:28 --> 00:09:32 gonna turn down a michael kors bag yeah and and dave imagine if it was on sale
00:09:32 --> 00:09:39 she couldn't return it you know i was like she didn't want the michael kors purse she said nope.
00:09:40 --> 00:09:44 And and and get this her first
00:09:44 --> 00:09:47 request she she she went to
00:09:47 --> 00:09:49 the gucci bag because she thought it would be cheaper but she
00:09:49 --> 00:09:54 wanted a she wanted a louis uh louis
00:09:54 --> 00:09:56 purse and uh and her
00:09:56 --> 00:10:00 mom said oh no we're not doing that no we're
00:10:00 --> 00:10:03 not doing that yeah and and she's a
00:10:03 --> 00:10:06 senior in high school so that means that she would plan on
00:10:06 --> 00:10:08 taking it to school and you know what
00:10:08 --> 00:10:11 that means right you know she would have to guard it with her
00:10:11 --> 00:10:15 life you know you know i mean no
00:10:15 --> 00:10:18 no you don't want you don't want your
00:10:18 --> 00:10:22 kids having anything that you know
00:10:22 --> 00:10:24 cause too much attention because they ain't gonna have it long
00:10:24 --> 00:10:27 nope you know
00:10:27 --> 00:10:30 i mean i i definitely i know my mom would
00:10:30 --> 00:10:33 have laughed at me if i even tried to answer for something like that
00:10:33 --> 00:10:36 yeah but you you know dave you know what i kind of
00:10:36 --> 00:10:39 compare it to so think about back in
00:10:39 --> 00:10:41 the day and our listeners whatever
00:10:41 --> 00:10:46 age you are you can probably relate you know back in the day nikes were the
00:10:46 --> 00:10:52 hottest things around yeah but your parents they don't get your nikes oh no
00:10:52 --> 00:10:58 they ain't no i got they they they they get you some reeboks but but that's
00:10:58 --> 00:11:01 But your parents got you. My mom wouldn't have done it.
00:11:01 --> 00:11:06 No, but I just say it in terms of, but you know, everyone at school is wearing
00:11:06 --> 00:11:10 Nikes and your parents, they say to you, well, you know, Reeboks are quality
00:11:10 --> 00:11:14 shoes that made well, they last long. And you're like, forget that.
00:11:14 --> 00:11:18 Everyone at school wearing Nikes. I need some Nikes. I don't want them. Take them back.
00:11:18 --> 00:11:22 Look, let me tell you, I've never had a pair of Nikes. Ever?
00:11:23 --> 00:11:28 Ever. Now, my sons, yeah, they definitely did. You know, they had them.
00:11:28 --> 00:11:34 And, like, my oldest son, he only wore two things, Nike sneakers and Timberlands.
00:11:35 --> 00:11:37 He had every color. I think he
00:11:37 --> 00:11:41 had almost every color you can get in Timberlands at one point, you know.
00:11:42 --> 00:11:46 And, see, those kids, when Timberlands really got hot, those kids were playing.
00:11:46 --> 00:11:50 They wore them to play basketball in them, you know, and stuff like that.
00:11:50 --> 00:11:52 I mean, that's how much they loved those things.
00:11:52 --> 00:11:55 But, yeah, I'll never forget the first pair of Nikes I ever bought.
00:11:55 --> 00:11:58 And they wasn't for me. They were for my oldest son.
00:11:58 --> 00:12:04 And i got them on sale for 79 i ain't never in my life spent 79 on a pair of sneakers.
00:12:06 --> 00:12:10 Well i think the most i ever paid on for a pair of sneakers was a pair of converse all-stars,
00:12:11 --> 00:12:20 dr j's no the dr j's leather um all-star sneakers and they were like 30 40 bucks.
00:12:20 --> 00:12:24 All right cd man now you're showing your age yeah well
00:12:24 --> 00:12:27 you know i love look i'm old you know them
00:12:27 --> 00:12:30 leather sneakers came out of everybody everybody was wearing them man
00:12:30 --> 00:12:34 so you know so but but even
00:12:34 --> 00:12:38 that even if i was young now and had
00:12:38 --> 00:12:41 the money i don't know if i would spend two or three hundred dollars
00:12:41 --> 00:12:44 on jordan sneakers because you first of all
00:12:44 --> 00:12:48 i played a lot of basketball back then so nowadays
00:12:48 --> 00:12:51 you can't play in the sneakers that you
00:12:51 --> 00:12:54 spend three or four hundred dollars for i mean
00:12:54 --> 00:12:57 two or three hundred dollars for it you're not supposed to play ball
00:12:57 --> 00:13:00 in those you gotta have a second pair of sneakers yeah
00:13:00 --> 00:13:03 to play ball in so you know
00:13:03 --> 00:13:07 so you gotta you gotta spend like you know
00:13:07 --> 00:13:11 a good three or four hundred dollars on sneakers yeah
00:13:11 --> 00:13:14 and dave it's funny now because a lot
00:13:14 --> 00:13:17 of the kids they don't even wear sneakers at
00:13:17 --> 00:13:20 school they wear a crocs slide sandal
00:13:20 --> 00:13:23 you know i mean like so i was like you know
00:13:23 --> 00:13:26 they're buying these expensive shoes to you know maybe wear
00:13:26 --> 00:13:29 wearing a couple classes and then they wear that it's all
00:13:29 --> 00:13:33 about the main name brand america some crocs i never i don't understand the
00:13:33 --> 00:13:38 whole croc thing i really don't but they're popular they're very popular yeah
00:13:38 --> 00:13:41 it's almost like i talked about they're supposed to be real comfortable i just
00:13:41 --> 00:13:43 don't see how it comes have you
00:13:43 --> 00:13:47 ever had a pair yeah my wife bought me a pair So, I mean, I have a pair.
00:13:47 --> 00:13:52 I don't really wear them because I'm like, I didn't grow up wearing stuff like that.
00:13:53 --> 00:13:56 Like, I'm going to wear some sandals, some like some slides.
00:13:57 --> 00:14:01 And I mean, they're comfortable. But to be honest, I never maybe because I got
00:14:01 --> 00:14:04 big feet. I wouldn't wear mine out the house.
00:14:04 --> 00:14:08 You know, I mean, like, no, Dave, Dave, I kid you not.
00:14:08 --> 00:14:14 If you catch me wearing Crocs outside the house, just know that I look just
00:14:14 --> 00:14:18 as raggedy as like whatever you you would expect for me to be wearing Crocs.
00:14:19 --> 00:14:21 I just put it like that. If I'm wearing Crocs outside the house,
00:14:21 --> 00:14:24 I don't give a damn about how I look that day.
00:14:24 --> 00:14:26 Well you ain't got to worry about me caring how you
00:14:26 --> 00:14:31 look i won't be around you at that point so you know i'll be like he got crocs
00:14:31 --> 00:14:35 on okay see you later man i'll talk to you later all right yeah there you go
00:14:35 --> 00:14:39 you know not gonna embarrass me out there in them streets we're walking around
00:14:39 --> 00:14:44 with crocs on you know what did linder go to medical school is he,
00:14:45 --> 00:14:50 between crocs and clogs you know because i'm still surprised how popular clogs
00:14:50 --> 00:14:55 still are in the, you know, in the medical hospital, in the hospitals. Yeah.
00:14:56 --> 00:14:58 Yeah, so that's another story.
00:14:59 --> 00:15:02 So, you know, folks, this is what happens.
00:15:02 --> 00:15:07 You know, this is every year we have to look at all the things that's changing.
00:15:08 --> 00:15:15 And, you know, it is, you know, it is where we are now. I'm going to put it that way.
00:15:15 --> 00:15:20 You know, we're at all of the changes that have happened and all the things
00:15:20 --> 00:15:23 that have been happening that lead to changes.
00:15:23 --> 00:15:32 Just like I was watching TV yesterday, what you call Neil deGrasse was being interviewed,
00:15:33 --> 00:15:39 and he talked about how, did you hear that he has determined and discovered
00:15:39 --> 00:15:42 that the Zodiac sign chart,
00:15:42 --> 00:15:49 The hard scope has been changed because of the way that.
00:15:50 --> 00:15:58 The earth has shifted, and the turning radius that it's on has changed.
00:15:58 --> 00:16:05 So the months of the year that your birthdays might have fallen under have changed
00:16:05 --> 00:16:11 because of the timing of the turning is off.
00:16:11 --> 00:16:16 I mean, you know, I'm listening to this guy, and I'm like, so he has a chart.
00:16:16 --> 00:16:21 And I've got to find that chart. he has a chart that shows the new alignment,
00:16:22 --> 00:16:27 the stars and the planets as far as the horoscope and astrology system,
00:16:27 --> 00:16:35 and so there's a great chance that if you're a person that knows about your
00:16:35 --> 00:16:38 sign and all that stuff, there's a great chance that you might not be the sign
00:16:38 --> 00:16:40 that you've been all your life anymore.
00:16:42 --> 00:16:48 According to the chart that he had, I'm a Pisces according to the chart that he had I'm an Aquarius.
00:16:49 --> 00:16:52 And, you know, it's funny because you kind of look like an Aquarius,
00:16:52 --> 00:16:56 too. I mean, I'm, you know, I'm just going to throw that out there real quick. Oh, Lord, here we go.
00:16:57 --> 00:17:01 What does Aquarius look like? It's so funny because my mother happened to be an Aquarius.
00:17:02 --> 00:17:08 Yeah. But, you know, but it's just interesting because according to this chart,
00:17:09 --> 00:17:13 you know, you, what you always thought you were, you're not anymore.
00:17:14 --> 00:17:17 So I just thought but that just tells you about all the
00:17:17 --> 00:17:20 different things that are happening and all the different changes
00:17:20 --> 00:17:23 that are happening so but we're going
00:17:23 --> 00:17:26 to talk you know we're going to go ahead and get into the show we
00:17:26 --> 00:17:29 haven't gotten into the show yet you know but this is what happens when we don't
00:17:29 --> 00:17:33 do a show for a couple weeks and we just get a chance to get around to talking
00:17:33 --> 00:17:38 to you guys so but what we're going to talk to you tonight about is just some
00:17:38 --> 00:17:42 we're to talk about some of the big stories that happened over the last year
00:17:42 --> 00:17:45 you know kind of do our little recap of the year 2024.
00:17:48 --> 00:17:51 So i'm just going to bring up a couple stories leonard
00:17:51 --> 00:17:54 and just get you know
00:17:54 --> 00:17:58 we'll just say a little bit about each story and you know get each other's thoughts
00:17:58 --> 00:18:06 on the story this first one that i'm going to bring up it says this is the alaska
00:18:06 --> 00:18:12 door plug incident the alaska door plug incident.
00:18:13 --> 00:18:20 Minutes after Alaska Airlines flight 1282 took off from Portland International
00:18:20 --> 00:18:26 Airport on January 5th, a door plug blew out, sparking chaos on the plane.
00:18:27 --> 00:18:31 The flight was nearly full with the exception of a few seats.
00:18:31 --> 00:18:36 The two seats next to the missing door plug happened to be empty.
00:18:37 --> 00:18:41 The Boeing 737 MAX 9 safely made it.
00:18:42 --> 00:18:45 Made an emergency landing. No one was seriously injured.
00:18:46 --> 00:18:53 An NTSB preliminary report found that before the flight, four bolts designed
00:18:53 --> 00:18:58 to prevent the door plug from falling off the plane were missing.
00:18:58 --> 00:19:06 A Boeing executive told ABC News this summer that the fuselage came to Boeing's
00:19:06 --> 00:19:12 damage from its supplier, and to fix the fuselage, the door plug needed to come off.
00:19:13 --> 00:19:18 Before they could get the plug back on, the plane needed to be moved.
00:19:18 --> 00:19:25 The overnight team put the door plug back onto the seat.
00:19:28 --> 00:19:37 And the plane from the outdoor elements but didn't install the bolts because
00:19:37 --> 00:19:40 it wasn't their job, as Zachary said.
00:19:40 --> 00:19:44 The first team never filled out the paperwork when they removed the door,
00:19:45 --> 00:19:48 so the next team didn't know to put the bolts back on.
00:19:48 --> 00:19:53 The executive said, could you imagine the horror?
00:19:55 --> 00:20:00 You know, you're sitting there, plane takes off, all of a sudden,
00:20:00 --> 00:20:05 whoosh, thank God nobody was sitting there. Yeah, for real.
00:20:05 --> 00:20:10 Yeah, yeah, thank God nobody was sitting there. And that was the first of a
00:20:10 --> 00:20:14 couple of incidents with Bowling, you know, but that was the big one.
00:20:14 --> 00:20:22 And, you know, that, and that happened very beginning of the year, January 5th. So...
00:20:24 --> 00:20:32 It just kind of set the course for what kind of year we were about to have, to be honest with you.
00:20:32 --> 00:20:34 What were your thoughts when you heard that story?
00:20:35 --> 00:20:37 I mean, you know, I just thought it was crazy because, you know,
00:20:37 --> 00:20:43 I think we always assume that people, you know, these safety companies are on point.
00:20:43 --> 00:20:46 They have all their checklists, you know, double checking, triple checking.
00:20:47 --> 00:20:52 And clearly, we know they're just like us. Like, you know, who did it? I ain't do it.
00:20:53 --> 00:20:56 You know nobody told me to do it oh they
00:20:56 --> 00:20:59 were on the seat well i left them there for the next you know i'm like like all
00:20:59 --> 00:21:03 the same stuff we hear at probably a lot of our jobs unfortunately
00:21:03 --> 00:21:06 the same thing but they if i was in an exit
00:21:06 --> 00:21:09 row or similar and the
00:21:09 --> 00:21:12 door flew off oh my goodness
00:21:12 --> 00:21:15 because you know dave in the movies and i
00:21:15 --> 00:21:18 mean it is the movies but when the door flies off yeah everything
00:21:18 --> 00:21:21 get sucked out yeah like you know those those first
00:21:21 --> 00:21:24 couple seats usually seem like they just fly right
00:21:24 --> 00:21:27 on out with it yeah yeah yeah yeah
00:21:27 --> 00:21:30 and look with your luck and with my luck we'll probably
00:21:30 --> 00:21:34 be in those first couple seats and probably fly right out the door so you know
00:21:34 --> 00:21:42 so it's interesting i mean you know with all the technology and all the stuff
00:21:42 --> 00:21:47 we have now to kind of avoid these type for things from happening.
00:21:49 --> 00:21:52 That's really crazy that that happened, you know?
00:21:52 --> 00:21:58 And that kind of, like I said, that kind of set the tone for some things that
00:21:58 --> 00:22:01 were about to happen the rest of the year.
00:22:03 --> 00:22:07 Like the story that I'm about to talk about now.
00:22:08 --> 00:22:19 The next thing, the next big thing that I remember and we can remember was on March the 26th,
00:22:19 --> 00:22:26 a container ship struck the Francis Guy Key Bridge, Baltimore,
00:22:27 --> 00:22:31 collapsing the bridge and killing six construction workers.
00:22:31 --> 00:22:34 Who were filling potholes on the span.
00:22:35 --> 00:22:41 Two workers survived the crash-affected entry into the port of Baltimore for
00:22:41 --> 00:22:46 weeks with the debris blocking entry for other ships.
00:22:47 --> 00:22:53 Crews worked to remove about 50 tons of steel, concrete,
00:22:53 --> 00:23:00 and asphalt from the channel and from the container ship, the Department of Justice said.
00:23:00 --> 00:23:04 That was, of course, the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
00:23:05 --> 00:23:11 Of course, it was something that we really got to witness because it was close
00:23:11 --> 00:23:16 by or in our area where we are.
00:23:16 --> 00:23:19 And I know you said you've been on that bridge a few times, right?
00:23:20 --> 00:23:26 I think so. Because, yeah, I think that's the one in like 695 East.
00:23:26 --> 00:23:30 I mean, to be honest, I don't really recognize it that much,
00:23:30 --> 00:23:34 but I'm sure I've been on it. Yeah, yeah.
00:23:35 --> 00:23:39 That was really big news because when you looked at the video,
00:23:39 --> 00:23:45 it was horrifying to see how that happened and how it collapsed.
00:23:47 --> 00:23:54 But they worked diligently to get the bridge back in order for people to cross
00:23:54 --> 00:24:01 it because they knew that's like a very important bridge as far as connecting, you know,
00:24:02 --> 00:24:08 connecting the areas that people use to travel back and forth on that bridge.
00:24:09 --> 00:24:14 So I had to confirm that the bridge is not fixed.
00:24:14 --> 00:24:18 It's scheduled. It says construction. The question is scheduled to begin in 2025.
00:24:19 --> 00:24:23 But aren't they using it, though? I thought I read that they were using it.
00:24:24 --> 00:24:27 I'm not sure. I didn't say I don't think it's fixed. No. But,
00:24:27 --> 00:24:32 I mean, I thought they had made it so that they can use it. You know what I mean? Mm-hmm.
00:24:32 --> 00:24:37 I got you. That people can drive along. Yeah, I thought they did some kind of
00:24:37 --> 00:24:42 makeshift thing so that people can drive it until they get it completely fixed.
00:24:42 --> 00:24:46 Because I know one of the things was getting the funds to be able to fix it,
00:24:46 --> 00:24:55 you know. So, yeah, so, but yeah, so that was back in March of this year, this past year.
00:24:55 --> 00:25:00 Then this next story, sad story. Unfortunately, you know, most of these are
00:25:00 --> 00:25:07 very, you know, I wish they were positive, but, you know, it just tells you the world.
00:25:08 --> 00:25:14 I mean, I mean, it really does. But Jennifer and James Crumbly,
00:25:14 --> 00:25:18 the parents of Michigan high school shooter Ethan Crumbly,
00:25:18 --> 00:25:26 was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison in April after each was found guilty
00:25:26 --> 00:25:32 of four counts of involuntary manslaughter in separate trials.
00:25:32 --> 00:25:40 The trials were a rare case of parents facing criminal charges over their roles
00:25:40 --> 00:25:44 in a shooting carried out by their child.
00:25:45 --> 00:25:49 I think this was the first time this happened, too, if I'm not mistaken.
00:25:50 --> 00:25:55 Ethan Crumley, who was 15 years old at the time of the 2021 shooting,
00:25:56 --> 00:26:02 was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing four students at Oxford High School.
00:26:02 --> 00:26:09 The prosecutor said Jennifer and James Crumley ignored several warning signs
00:26:09 --> 00:26:11 in the days leading up to the shooting.
00:26:11 --> 00:26:18 The parents also bought their son the gun used in the shooting and failed to
00:26:18 --> 00:26:25 secure the weapon and limit the son's access to it, as prosecutors argued.
00:26:26 --> 00:26:34 That story was a big story when the parents were found guilty because it really
00:26:34 --> 00:26:40 said a lot about how the parents have to start taking ownership for the young
00:26:40 --> 00:26:42 people who have been going,
00:26:43 --> 00:26:50 you know, and we've had quite a few of them to go out on these shooting sprees and killing people.
00:26:50 --> 00:26:53 You know because it always seems
00:26:53 --> 00:26:57 that the guns are accessible or the
00:26:57 --> 00:27:01 parents bought the guns for so the
00:27:01 --> 00:27:05 fact that this happened was a big big
00:27:05 --> 00:27:10 thing because now you know with something like this and hopefully you know we
00:27:10 --> 00:27:14 don't have anything like this to happen again but you know of course we never
00:27:14 --> 00:27:22 know yeah but you know not only is that the shooter held accountable but if it's a minor.
00:27:23 --> 00:27:29 The parents have to be you know if especially if you have not secured the weapon
00:27:29 --> 00:27:33 now of course is it's one thing if the parents don't know that's another story
00:27:33 --> 00:27:38 but if you if the parents are buying the weapons and,
00:27:38 --> 00:27:41 you know,
00:27:41 --> 00:27:44 teaching them how to use the weapons and, of course,
00:27:44 --> 00:27:49 feeding them with all types of rhetoric and all that kind of stuff, you know,
00:27:49 --> 00:27:54 then, of course, naturally, yes, they should be put on trial as well.
00:27:54 --> 00:27:55 What's your thought for them?
00:27:56 --> 00:27:58 Yeah, I mean, you know, I definitely agree. You know,
00:27:58 --> 00:28:02 I think parents have to be held responsible and
00:28:02 --> 00:28:05 you know i think kind
00:28:05 --> 00:28:09 of like what you said dave like this that wasn't an everyday situation they
00:28:09 --> 00:28:14 were grossly negligent you know it's almost like if you give your child alcohol
00:28:14 --> 00:28:19 and they go out and drunk drive and they kill somebody and they're under age
00:28:19 --> 00:28:24 you know i mean you're you're responsible so but you know at the same point
00:28:24 --> 00:28:28 i think i don't think it's really going to change how parents act.
00:28:28 --> 00:28:31 You know, like parents are going to do what they do anyway.
00:28:32 --> 00:28:36 But, you know, I think it will, you know, I guess put some consequences behind it.
00:28:37 --> 00:28:42 Let's hope so. Let's hope it'll help. Let's hope it'll help and put a stop to
00:28:42 --> 00:28:44 this kind of madness. But that's.
00:28:46 --> 00:28:54 I don't know. I guess they not like us, man. You know, that's all I can say. They not like us.
00:28:55 --> 00:29:01 All right. The next story that I came across and that we probably remember from
00:29:01 --> 00:29:04 last year, because this was a big ruling as well.
00:29:06 --> 00:29:13 And I'll just read the story itself. a judge dismissed Alec Baldwin's Russ case
00:29:13 --> 00:29:20 in July on day three of his involuntary manslaughter trial from the fatal onset
00:29:20 --> 00:29:26 shooting of cinematographer Halina Hutchins.
00:29:28 --> 00:29:36 The defense said in its argument for dismissal that live ammunition that came
00:29:36 --> 00:29:42 into the hands of local law enforcements related to the investigation was concealed from them.
00:29:43 --> 00:29:50 The judge agreed to dismiss saying that the state's discovery violation regarding
00:29:50 --> 00:29:56 the late disclosure of a supplemental report on the ammunition evidence injected
00:29:56 --> 00:29:59 needless delay into the proceedings,
00:29:59 --> 00:30:07 approached bad faith and was highly prejudicial to the defendant.
00:30:07 --> 00:30:16 Meanwhile, Russ Armorer Hannah Guterres was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in March.
00:30:17 --> 00:30:22 She was found not guilty of tampering with evidence. Prosecutors said that Guterres
00:30:22 --> 00:30:31 repeatedly failed to maintain proper firearm safety, arguing her negligence led to Hutchins' death.
00:30:31 --> 00:30:36 Guterres was sentenced in April to 18 months in prison.
00:30:37 --> 00:30:46 So this Gitaras was the person who actually eventually was charged with her
00:30:46 --> 00:30:50 negligence as far as that whole thing was concerned as far as that shooting.
00:30:51 --> 00:30:53 I never forget when that happened.
00:30:54 --> 00:30:59 I just remember how shook up Alec Baldwin was because, you know,
00:30:59 --> 00:31:01 he couldn't believe, you know,
00:31:01 --> 00:31:06 here you are, you got a gun and it's supposed to be shooting blanks and whatever,
00:31:06 --> 00:31:11 and you go pull the trigger and an actual bullet comes out and kills somebody.
00:31:12 --> 00:31:16 And, you know, and I guess this kind of stuff happens on sets all the time.
00:31:16 --> 00:31:21 You know, it's just the fact that you don't know, you know, that,
00:31:21 --> 00:31:25 you know, So, of course, something like that would happen where somebody would
00:31:25 --> 00:31:30 actually have a bullet in the gun.
00:31:30 --> 00:31:35 But it was really unfortunate when it happened.
00:31:36 --> 00:31:42 But, you know, they were able to come to this final outcome as far as that's concerned.
00:31:43 --> 00:31:48 And it was a pretty big case because I know Alec Baldwin, they said,
00:31:48 --> 00:31:50 was a mess over that whole thing.
00:31:50 --> 00:31:53 You know and you can see that he's just
00:31:53 --> 00:31:58 starting to come back outside now you know what i mean so like
00:31:58 --> 00:32:01 he i used to watch i watched saturday night live he
00:32:01 --> 00:32:05 was always on saturday night live you know cutting up on there all the time
00:32:05 --> 00:32:09 and he disappeared from you know he disappeared from all of that stuff oh yeah
00:32:09 --> 00:32:14 he did yeah yeah yeah well you know i thought it was real crazy and but it's
00:32:14 --> 00:32:19 like who put a real bullet like you know in my mind it's just kind of like
00:32:20 --> 00:32:25 I would hate to ever be in that situation as an actor knowing that you killed
00:32:25 --> 00:32:28 somebody, but it wasn't your fault, but it was your fault.
00:32:28 --> 00:32:33 And people are blaming you, you know, to be honest, I'm sure that probably took a mental toll on him.
00:32:33 --> 00:32:37 Maybe that was some of the reason he like backed out and, you know, just kind of.
00:32:38 --> 00:32:41 I'm sure it's something that will never go away. I mean, you know,
00:32:42 --> 00:32:43 I mean, you know, you figure it cuts.
00:32:43 --> 00:32:49 I mean, something similar like that happened with Bruce Lee's son on a set, you know, you know, so.
00:32:50 --> 00:32:56 You know, it's really a shame because here it is, you know, that's the last
00:32:56 --> 00:33:00 thing on your mind, you know, when you're shooting these films.
00:33:00 --> 00:33:07 I'm sure it changed a lot of stuff that goes on on movie sets since that happened,
00:33:07 --> 00:33:13 you know, I'm sure, you know, and as far as the weapons and so forth and handling
00:33:13 --> 00:33:14 the weapons and so forth.
00:33:16 --> 00:33:23 And, you know, you know, if I was an actor, I'd be scared to point a gun at
00:33:23 --> 00:33:25 somebody because you never know what might happen.
00:33:25 --> 00:33:29 So, you know, so. And, you know, Dave, you know, even if we just think about
00:33:29 --> 00:33:35 how traumatic it is for people to witness somebody getting shot and killed,
00:33:35 --> 00:33:37 you know, I mean, yeah, I mean, it's crazy.
00:33:38 --> 00:33:40 I'm sure that's something he'll never forget.
00:33:40 --> 00:33:42 Yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure.
00:33:43 --> 00:33:46 You know, well, I couldn't even imagine.
00:33:48 --> 00:33:53 All right. This next thing was a pretty big thing that happened this year,
00:33:53 --> 00:33:55 too, this past year, too.
00:33:55 --> 00:34:02 This happened in August. Five people were charged in August of 2024 in the connection
00:34:02 --> 00:34:09 with last year's ketamine death of Friend star Matthew Perry.
00:34:09 --> 00:34:17 Eric Fleming, who admitted in court documents that he distributed the ketamine
00:34:17 --> 00:34:25 to that killed Perry and the actor's living assistant Kenneth O'Hara.
00:34:26 --> 00:34:33 Wassama, who admitted in court documents to administering the ketamine on the
00:34:33 --> 00:34:35 day Perry died and pleaded guilty.
00:34:36 --> 00:34:43 Wassama and Fleming face up to 15 years and 25 years, respectively.
00:34:44 --> 00:34:47 Two doctors are among those charged. Dr.
00:34:47 --> 00:34:52 Mark Chavez admitted to selling ketamine.
00:34:52 --> 00:34:59 Two doctors, Salvatore Placentia, a licensed medical doctor he has known for
00:34:59 --> 00:35:03 at least 20 years, with the understanding it would be sold to Perry,
00:35:03 --> 00:35:06 who was struggling with a ketamine addiction,
00:35:06 --> 00:35:08 according to the prosecutors.
00:35:10 --> 00:35:14 Chavez has pleaded guilty and faces up to 10 years in prison.
00:35:14 --> 00:35:20 Two defendants pleaded not guilty, Placentia and Jasmine Sanga,
00:35:21 --> 00:35:24 a woman allegedly known as the Ketamine Queen,
00:35:25 --> 00:35:32 who was accused of selling Perry the batch of ketamine that killed him,
00:35:32 --> 00:35:34 the Department of Justice said.
00:35:34 --> 00:35:41 Sanga and Placentia face charges including a conspiracy to distribute ketamine
00:35:41 --> 00:35:44 and are set to go on trial in March of 2025.
00:35:44 --> 00:35:48 If convicted of all charges sangha
00:35:48 --> 00:35:51 would face a mandatory minimum of
00:35:51 --> 00:35:55 10 years and a maximum of life in prison um
00:35:55 --> 00:35:58 placentia would face up to 10 years for each
00:35:58 --> 00:36:02 ketamine related count and up
00:36:02 --> 00:36:06 to 20 years for each record falsification count
00:36:06 --> 00:36:12 according to prosecute prosecutors that dude ain't getting out right he's guilty
00:36:12 --> 00:36:18 so you know this almost sounds like the whole stuff that went on with michael
00:36:18 --> 00:36:23 jackson and and you know the doctors prescribing the medicine and all of this stuff.
00:36:25 --> 00:36:31 I mean, real talk, this all starts with Matthew Perry, to be honest with you,
00:36:31 --> 00:36:36 because, you know, because of the drug that he was using.
00:36:37 --> 00:36:39 And, of course, he got addicted to it.
00:36:40 --> 00:36:44 And but then you have all of these yes people around you who want to supply
00:36:44 --> 00:36:49 you and, of course, make their money from it and all of that kind of stuff.
00:36:49 --> 00:36:54 But this, you know, when you, you know, they kind of found all these people
00:36:54 --> 00:37:00 pretty quickly, Leonard, if you ask me, you know, and we know,
00:37:00 --> 00:37:04 you know, if you think about it, you know, if that was one of us,
00:37:04 --> 00:37:09 that it probably wouldn't have happened that way. You know, you know, so.
00:37:10 --> 00:37:16 But it's really a shame because when people are calling out for help like that and,
00:37:16 --> 00:37:22 you know, I mean, we've had two two celebrities like Michael and Prince who
00:37:22 --> 00:37:25 both, you know, kind of died of drug overdoses.
00:37:27 --> 00:37:31 And I'm sure that they were being enabled by the people who was giving them
00:37:31 --> 00:37:32 the stuff that they were taking.
00:37:34 --> 00:37:37 But you know this sounds like a whole network of stuff
00:37:37 --> 00:37:41 that was going on right and you
00:37:41 --> 00:37:44 know i think it's one of the things too where i'm sure
00:37:44 --> 00:37:47 his friends they know exactly who the suppliers are
00:37:47 --> 00:37:50 so when he passed i mean
00:37:50 --> 00:37:54 you know how it is it's kind of like you know you know
00:37:54 --> 00:37:56 like your son you know you know a few of his friends like if
00:37:56 --> 00:37:59 something happened to your son you gotta call up three or four people and
00:37:59 --> 00:38:04 find out what happened yep well yeah and i know his friends very much especially
00:38:04 --> 00:38:11 my oldest son i know his friends so one thing about him the guys that he's very
00:38:11 --> 00:38:18 close to they have been friends since they were kids matter of fact three of them live within.
00:38:19 --> 00:38:25 The three that he the two that he's closest to they all live in walking distance
00:38:25 --> 00:38:27 from each other So, you know, so.
00:38:28 --> 00:38:35 So, yeah, I would definitely get in touch with them right away because I know they would know.
00:38:36 --> 00:38:41 So when you have these type of relationships and whatever, and I'm sure,
00:38:41 --> 00:38:46 you know, because he's had issues in the past with alcoholism and also.
00:38:48 --> 00:38:50 Drugs and so forth so but it's you
00:38:50 --> 00:38:53 know it's really a shame because this is somebody that was on
00:38:53 --> 00:38:57 tv for a long time and i wasn't
00:38:57 --> 00:39:00 a friends watcher were you i was i
00:39:00 --> 00:39:04 wasn't a big fan but i just felt like it was always on so
00:39:04 --> 00:39:07 yeah it was always on it was it
00:39:07 --> 00:39:10 was yeah then they have like 80 seasons of
00:39:10 --> 00:39:13 friends i would say 80 seasons yeah
00:39:13 --> 00:39:17 i mean like they like it was on for a long time
00:39:17 --> 00:39:20 it was on for over 10 years yeah because that
00:39:20 --> 00:39:23 was the big thing because you know of
00:39:23 --> 00:39:27 course you know there was a big controversy around that because they
00:39:27 --> 00:39:31 stole the idea from living single right living
00:39:31 --> 00:39:36 single was promised all this stuff and they gave all the stuff that they said
00:39:36 --> 00:39:39 they were going to do the producers and everything said they were going to do
00:39:39 --> 00:39:43 for living single they ended up doing for this show and of course the show became
00:39:43 --> 00:39:48 a big show and they made all the money and living single was making less than
00:39:48 --> 00:39:50 half of what they were making. Peanuts.
00:39:51 --> 00:39:58 Yeah, yeah. I mean, you know, so... But that just, you know, just tells you...
00:40:00 --> 00:40:05 You know, it's a sad story. It definitely was a sad story, but it's good to
00:40:05 --> 00:40:11 know that people are going to pay for what, you know, aiding and abetting and
00:40:11 --> 00:40:13 their parts and what happened there.
00:40:13 --> 00:40:18 So, all right, I'm going to move on to this next story.
00:40:19 --> 00:40:29 A 14-year-old student, Colt Gray, is accused of open fire on the Appalachee
00:40:29 --> 00:40:33 High School in Georgia on September 4th,
00:40:33 --> 00:40:38 killing two students and two teachers and injuring several others.
00:40:38 --> 00:40:47 The suspect's father, Colin Gray, is also facing charges for allegedly knowingly
00:40:47 --> 00:40:53 allowing his son to possess the weapon used in the shooting, according to the GBI.
00:40:54 --> 00:41:00 Investigators believe the team received the AR-style gun used in the shooting
00:41:00 --> 00:41:05 as a Christmas present from his father, according to sources.
00:41:05 --> 00:41:08 The father and son have both pleaded not guilty.
00:41:09 --> 00:41:19 Here we go again another teenager parent gives a gift knowingly gives a gift
00:41:19 --> 00:41:28 to the to the kids and this kid uses the gift it goes out it's just unbelievable it really is.
00:41:30 --> 00:41:34 Unbelievable killing two students and two teachers i
00:41:34 --> 00:41:37 remember seeing that story and i was just like because i
00:41:37 --> 00:41:41 thought it was a repeat from the other story i mean because this happened after
00:41:41 --> 00:41:47 the other one the 15 year old right you know and you know this seemed like it
00:41:47 --> 00:41:54 was the same thing happening all over again we got to be we as parents we got to be more responsible,
00:41:56 --> 00:42:00 Unless this is truly what it seemed like it was, which was a hate crime.
00:42:00 --> 00:42:09 But when you look at the pictures of the teachers and the students, they were not of color.
00:42:09 --> 00:42:13 So the motivation, what was the real motivation?
00:42:15 --> 00:42:22 It's sad. But, you know, now if you notice the pattern so far of all the stories
00:42:22 --> 00:42:24 that I've read, there's a little pattern there.
00:42:24 --> 00:42:31 Yeah 2024 was no joke folks it really wasn't there was a lot to happen there
00:42:31 --> 00:42:36 was a lot that went on even though and even with the outcomes of a couple of
00:42:36 --> 00:42:37 the trials that we talked about,
00:42:38 --> 00:42:43 and you know this is just the touch of ice of the iceberg you know as far as
00:42:43 --> 00:42:49 things that that happened i got a couple more that i want to talk about and
00:42:49 --> 00:42:53 here's a couple big ones On September 26th,
00:42:54 --> 00:43:01 Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida as a powerful Category 4 storm.
00:43:02 --> 00:43:08 As Helene moved north, it wreaked havoc in Florida, Georgia,
00:43:09 --> 00:43:14 South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee.
00:43:14 --> 00:43:19 Colleen destroyed homes and roads, stranded residents.
00:43:21 --> 00:43:28 Without phone service and water and claims, the lives of nearly 250 people throughout
00:43:28 --> 00:43:35 the southeast and lean is now the deadliest storm in North Carolina history.
00:43:36 --> 00:43:44 Western North Carolina, including the city of Asheville, was especially the hardest hit.
00:43:44 --> 00:43:48 And then weeks later, on October the 9th,
00:43:48 --> 00:43:55 Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm,
00:43:55 --> 00:44:01 bringing tornadoes, powerful winds, and flooding rains.
00:44:02 --> 00:44:05 Hurricane Milton killed at least 23 people in Florida.
00:44:06 --> 00:44:11 Can you imagine being in that area during that time? No, not at all.
00:44:12 --> 00:44:16 And to be honest I'm surprised more people don't leave during these like large,
00:44:17 --> 00:44:21 storms but you know we all have that thing,
00:44:22 --> 00:44:27 it's not going to happen like that here you know or whatever you know you just
00:44:27 --> 00:44:32 think that you know we all have a tendency to think that there's some sort of.
00:44:33 --> 00:44:36 Invincibility you know when it
00:44:36 --> 00:44:38 comes to you know they think that only happens in
00:44:38 --> 00:44:41 movies and so forth in the Avenger movies and stuff
00:44:41 --> 00:44:44 like that you know but when people
00:44:44 --> 00:44:48 when when you get more than one morning saying
00:44:48 --> 00:44:51 hey everybody needs to evacuate this area
00:44:51 --> 00:44:55 you know look back
00:44:55 --> 00:45:01 in the day y'all didn't have to tell us if somebody started running we ran you
00:45:01 --> 00:45:05 know we ain't sticking around to try to find out why we're running we'll find
00:45:05 --> 00:45:11 that out later on once we're safe you know but every time i hear about this type of thing.
00:45:11 --> 00:45:19 It always makes me think about that scene in Independence Day with Will Smith when he goes outside,
00:45:20 --> 00:45:24 and he's standing there and everybody packing up their cards and everything
00:45:24 --> 00:45:28 during takeoff and he's looking around and he's like, where's everybody going?
00:45:28 --> 00:45:32 And then he looks up in the sky and he sees the ship. It's time to go.
00:45:33 --> 00:45:36 It's time to go. I'm getting out. I'm going to try to get out anyway.
00:45:39 --> 00:45:43 It was really tragic that this happened and of course it did it rained so much
00:45:43 --> 00:45:48 down there it was so much that that was so bad that remember we had rain for
00:45:48 --> 00:45:57 how many like a week ago it was crazy up here yeah so but yeah that was the big storms of,
00:45:58 --> 00:46:05 you know towards the late part of the summer where hurricane season this year yeah,
00:46:07 --> 00:46:15 Next story, this is Leonard Boyd. Music mogul Sean Diddy Combs was arrested
00:46:15 --> 00:46:18 in New York City in September.
00:46:20 --> 00:46:27 Charged with sex trafficking by force, transportation to engage in prostitution
00:46:27 --> 00:46:29 and racketeering, conspiracy,
00:46:29 --> 00:46:37 prosecutors, alleged he ran an enterprise that engaged in sex trafficking,
00:46:38 --> 00:46:40 forced labor, or kidnapping,
00:46:41 --> 00:46:42 arson, and other crimes.
00:46:43 --> 00:46:49 Combs is accused of using violence, threats, and coercion to force women to
00:46:49 --> 00:46:56 engage in sex acts with male prostitutes, sometimes lasting days and often recorded.
00:46:57 --> 00:47:01 Combs allegedly called the activities free call.
00:47:03 --> 00:47:11 Everybody's favorite thing to say these days. Yeah. Man, how the mighty has fallen, man. Yeah.
00:47:13 --> 00:47:17 Matter of fact, his trial is coming up in May of this year. That trial is going
00:47:17 --> 00:47:19 to probably be big, I can tell you.
00:47:20 --> 00:47:26 You know, how can you be on top of the world one moment and then be under the jail the next?
00:47:29 --> 00:47:38 2024 that's all you got to say the 2024 strikes again yeah that's right that is right.
00:47:40 --> 00:47:47 2024 man it was no joke i'll tell you man it was no joke and and this is just
00:47:47 --> 00:47:49 the beginning because i'm sure,
00:47:50 --> 00:47:53 about to see a lot that happened did you hear about the the big
00:47:53 --> 00:47:56 thing that happened with fox sports and all the yeah
00:47:56 --> 00:47:59 i did yeah that's gonna be that's gonna
00:47:59 --> 00:48:02 be big too because there's a whole bunch of stuff about to come out
00:48:02 --> 00:48:05 about that you know so uh so i'm
00:48:05 --> 00:48:08 just telling you man a lot of people want to
00:48:08 --> 00:48:11 get exposed i mean this year 2024 might have
00:48:11 --> 00:48:14 opened the door but there's going to be some people walking
00:48:14 --> 00:48:17 through the door this year so i'm
00:48:17 --> 00:48:21 telling you that they kind of we said people are getting crazier and
00:48:21 --> 00:48:24 crazier every single year so i i
00:48:24 --> 00:48:27 don't doubt it yeah yeah yep that's
00:48:27 --> 00:48:30 right that's right and speaking of crazier and crazier
00:48:30 --> 00:48:33 you know of course puppy was you know
00:48:33 --> 00:48:41 he's he's a he's one of a kind this next story was crazy too united health health
00:48:41 --> 00:48:46 care ceo brian thompson was gunned down outside of midtown manhattan hotel on
00:48:46 --> 00:48:51 december 4th while he was on his way to an investor's conference.
00:48:52 --> 00:48:57 Thompson murder ignited online anger at the health insurance industry,
00:48:58 --> 00:49:01 and some people online celebrated the suspect.
00:49:03 --> 00:49:08 The slant also sparked a massive manhunt for the mass government,
00:49:08 --> 00:49:15 with the NYPD releasing images of the suspect found via surveillance cameras on December the 9th.
00:49:17 --> 00:49:21 Suspect luigi mangioni was
00:49:21 --> 00:49:23 apprehended after he was spotted at a
00:49:23 --> 00:49:26 mcdonald's of course he would be at
00:49:26 --> 00:49:30 a mcdonald's in the outstune of pa the gun
00:49:30 --> 00:49:35 the ghost gun allegedly in his possession when he was arrested was matched to
00:49:35 --> 00:49:40 the three shell casings recovered at the scene of the murder the new york police
00:49:40 --> 00:49:46 department said fingerprints recovered from the water bottle and kind bar near
00:49:46 --> 00:49:49 the crime scene were also,
00:49:50 --> 00:49:56 match to Mangione, police said. Of course, everybody was so worried about how
00:49:56 --> 00:49:58 nice looking this guy was.
00:49:59 --> 00:50:03 All the women were up there chiming in that he was fine.
00:50:04 --> 00:50:08 In fact, did you hear that the McDonald's
00:50:08 --> 00:50:16 employee who turned them in may or isn't going to even get the money why i cannot
00:50:16 --> 00:50:20 remember the fact let me try to look for it as we talk but yeah so you know
00:50:20 --> 00:50:28 a lot of people are talking about that let me just see let me see what it was like some technicality,
00:50:29 --> 00:50:32 are they did they think that they knew him
00:50:32 --> 00:50:35 or something but i'm about to okay
00:50:35 --> 00:50:39 so it looks like now is saying that they
00:50:39 --> 00:50:43 possibly will get the
00:50:43 --> 00:50:47 money and for okay
00:50:47 --> 00:50:50 yep so i mean here's it said it looks like he will get
00:50:50 --> 00:50:53 the money but i feel like it was something dumb like you know
00:50:53 --> 00:50:57 he called the police department instead of the fbi or
00:50:57 --> 00:51:00 i mean it was something i i just can't remember what
00:51:00 --> 00:51:04 they said it was okay well well
00:51:04 --> 00:51:09 you know well they're going to try not to pay anyway of course you know was
00:51:09 --> 00:51:13 this a black person or a white person you're talking about the mcdonald's employee
00:51:13 --> 00:51:22 yes uh i'm not sure i have not seen his name the name listed anywhere all right okay.
00:51:24 --> 00:51:27 Take a bet i wonder if they're black but anyway we'll see
00:51:27 --> 00:51:30 why because they work at mcdonald's what they
00:51:30 --> 00:51:33 will no no no because they wasn't going to pay him because
00:51:33 --> 00:51:36 they wasn't going to pay
00:51:36 --> 00:51:39 him that's why you know but maybe the
00:51:39 --> 00:51:42 ice cream the ice cream wasn't working it
00:51:42 --> 00:51:45 wasn't working you know so people got upset so
00:51:45 --> 00:51:48 i don't know but that that whole thing that's
00:51:48 --> 00:51:51 a mess right there and this guy was an ivy
00:51:51 --> 00:51:55 league school graduate too i mean he was you know yeah
00:51:55 --> 00:51:58 and and didn't they say he was a trump supporter yeah
00:51:58 --> 00:52:06 okay yeah so leonard said that by the way i didn't put it out there so okay
00:52:06 --> 00:52:13 all right so well we i'm sure when we that that when that goes to trial that's
00:52:13 --> 00:52:15 It's probably going to be an interesting draw, I can guarantee you.
00:52:17 --> 00:52:21 All right. And the last thing that I wanted to talk about as far as,
00:52:21 --> 00:52:28 and I don't really have a story around this, but I just wanted to say this because
00:52:28 --> 00:52:29 it definitely, definitely,
00:52:30 --> 00:52:34 if any year definitely showed that this is here to stay,
00:52:35 --> 00:52:37 2024 definitely did.
00:52:39 --> 00:52:43 AI, it's here, folks. AI is here.
00:52:43 --> 00:52:50 And not only is it here, it's here big, and it's not going anywhere.
00:52:50 --> 00:52:52 People are losing their jobs.
00:52:52 --> 00:53:00 You know what I mean? IT people got let go from companies, tech companies, because of AI. I'm sure.
00:53:00 --> 00:53:03 Yeah, I mean. It's just the beginning. And it's just the beginning.
00:53:04 --> 00:53:07 AI is basically in everything that we do now.
00:53:08 --> 00:53:15 You know i watched the i was watching something on tv a series called the cues
00:53:15 --> 00:53:23 i don't know if you've seen this it's on hulu and it's a series of court cases.
00:53:24 --> 00:53:27 That are based on true stories but they're
00:53:27 --> 00:53:30 acted out with different things with different
00:53:30 --> 00:53:32 actors and whatever and one of the it's been
00:53:32 --> 00:53:36 two seasons of this last episode of
00:53:36 --> 00:53:39 the second season has um you know michael coulter
00:53:39 --> 00:53:42 is he's in it
00:53:42 --> 00:53:45 and i can't forget remember the
00:53:45 --> 00:53:48 actress name who plays his wife but
00:53:48 --> 00:53:51 she's married to the guy aaron pierre who's
00:53:51 --> 00:54:01 in that who's in the possibly but anyway this the the wife worked for a company
00:54:01 --> 00:54:10 that was like one of the top streaming services where they were taking people.
00:54:11 --> 00:54:16 Musical masterpieces like Beethoven and stuff like that, remixing it,
00:54:16 --> 00:54:25 using AI and streaming it through their platform and recreating a whole new sound.
00:54:25 --> 00:54:30 What was happening, though, is that because of the streaming and everything
00:54:30 --> 00:54:37 and the AI, you know, using AI to create the sound, it was putting a lot of musicians out of work,
00:54:38 --> 00:54:40 real musicians, because they don't need them.
00:54:41 --> 00:54:43 You know, they can do everything right through the AI stuff.
00:54:44 --> 00:54:49 And the whole premise of this whole thing, there was a situation where she wasn't
00:54:49 --> 00:54:50 being intimate with her husband.
00:54:50 --> 00:54:55 So she, her sister worked for an AI company that created AI robots.
00:54:56 --> 00:55:01 And one of the types of robots you can get from her company was doll,
00:55:01 --> 00:55:04 a robot doll, a female robot doll.
00:55:05 --> 00:55:09 So the wife was too busy to have sex with her husband. So she got this doll
00:55:09 --> 00:55:11 for the husband to have sex with the doll.
00:55:12 --> 00:55:15 And of course he fell in love with the doll.
00:55:17 --> 00:55:25 Cause I was putting it on anyway. So, you know, but that just tells you because
00:55:25 --> 00:55:29 the whole story is centered around AI in, you know, in the music,
00:55:29 --> 00:55:30 you know, talking about the music field.
00:55:30 --> 00:55:34 And then as far as technology, as far as these robots and everything.
00:55:34 --> 00:55:39 And I'm just saying, you know, they keep making these movies these shows and
00:55:39 --> 00:55:42 so forth talking about ai and everything.
00:55:43 --> 00:55:49 It's it's here you know they even had there was one moment in the show him and
00:55:49 --> 00:55:53 him and the wife had gone out on a date and they're in one of those driverless
00:55:53 --> 00:55:59 cars you know you know so and i'm just saying you know this stuff man it's here,
00:56:00 --> 00:56:05 is definitely here and and they are still point now where it can start creating
00:56:05 --> 00:56:11 its own stuff so like i would be surprised like dave and i kid you not so around
00:56:11 --> 00:56:15 halloween i was like oh man like you know i should try to do something like
00:56:15 --> 00:56:19 a like a halloween book i put in a story idea to ai,
00:56:20 --> 00:56:23 and it darn near wrote a book
00:56:23 --> 00:56:26 about like a haunted story based on you
00:56:26 --> 00:56:29 know what i was talking about yeah i can
00:56:29 --> 00:56:32 imagine because i had something like that i had something similar like
00:56:32 --> 00:56:35 that to happen recently too so i know exactly what you're saying yeah
00:56:35 --> 00:56:38 yeah yeah and and dave it was actually pretty good
00:56:38 --> 00:56:42 pretty good yeah yeah yeah i mean it's
00:56:42 --> 00:56:46 almost you you got to fill in some of the blanks and personalized and all that
00:56:46 --> 00:56:50 stuff but it's almost reading your mind it's almost reading your mind and and
00:56:50 --> 00:56:58 using your ideals and and and with their words right yeah yeah yeah it's It's
00:56:58 --> 00:56:59 scary. It's interesting.
00:57:00 --> 00:57:10 But it's also when you look at today's children coming up, is it going to make them even more lazier?
00:57:12 --> 00:57:12 Of course.
00:57:14 --> 00:57:16 That's the problem well dave forget
00:57:16 --> 00:57:20 the kids the adults is gonna make it dave i'm
00:57:20 --> 00:57:23 already lazy for certain stuff oh but
00:57:23 --> 00:57:26 i'm i mean i'm serious because ai takes some
00:57:26 --> 00:57:30 of the tasks out of your daily routine yeah it
00:57:30 --> 00:57:33 does especially if you're a business owner like if
00:57:33 --> 00:57:36 you're a business owner oh my goodness yeah
00:57:36 --> 00:57:39 i can only imagine i can only
00:57:39 --> 00:57:43 imagine i mean folks you
00:57:43 --> 00:57:46 know you could try to fight it and a lot of older people like myself
00:57:46 --> 00:57:49 and older probably won't
00:57:49 --> 00:57:53 want to use it i mean i consider myself a
00:57:53 --> 00:57:55 pretty progressive person when it comes to
00:57:55 --> 00:57:59 new things and technology and so forth so
00:57:59 --> 00:58:02 i don't have a problem with using and i have used
00:58:02 --> 00:58:05 ai myself but there's
00:58:05 --> 00:58:12 a lot of people my age and older that won't touch it and they're going to get
00:58:12 --> 00:58:17 left behind unfortunately because they're going to have a hard time trying to
00:58:17 --> 00:58:23 do things and trying to cope with everything that's going to be happening because
00:58:23 --> 00:58:24 things are going to be moving too fast.
00:58:25 --> 00:58:29 Yeah. And I think the same with the workforce.
00:58:29 --> 00:58:33 Like if your workforce, there's certain jobs that AI is going to take right
00:58:33 --> 00:58:35 off the bat. It's going to take it.
00:58:35 --> 00:58:39 They're going to take it. Yeah. Because, you know, Dave, you remember the app I showed you?
00:58:39 --> 00:58:42 So they also have a travel planner.
00:58:44 --> 00:58:47 Now, I'm not sure if it does the flights and stuff like that,
00:58:47 --> 00:58:51 but if you put in where you're going and said, create me an itinerary,
00:58:51 --> 00:58:55 it'll create you an itinerary with places to go, things to see.
00:58:55 --> 00:58:59 So AI is coming for everybody's job, Dave.
00:59:00 --> 00:59:11 Well, it's not good for those who have worked hard all of their lives to be good at what they do.
00:59:12 --> 00:59:18 And it's a shame if you lose your job because of AI, but you're going to need to get on board.
00:59:19 --> 00:59:23 You know, people, if you can, you're going to need to get on board because it's
00:59:23 --> 00:59:27 here and it's here in a very big way.
00:59:27 --> 00:59:35 You know, you got Elon Musk running around with the new elect president and
00:59:35 --> 00:59:40 which gives him even more power than he already has to be able to do.
00:59:40 --> 00:59:43 And we know Elon's king of AI stuff. So...
00:59:44 --> 00:59:48 Can see them turning the whole presidency into a
00:59:48 --> 00:59:52 whole ai experience a nightmare
00:59:52 --> 00:59:57 a nightmare yeah yeah so so
00:59:57 --> 01:00:00 like i said people ai is here
01:00:00 --> 01:00:06 to stay and just better get on board and you at least learn the things you need
01:00:06 --> 01:00:14 to learn so but that's basically some of the things that i wanted to talk about
01:00:14 --> 01:00:17 as far as what's happened in 2024.
01:00:17 --> 01:00:22 Of course, there was a lot more, but I just thought I'd touch on those particular stories.
01:00:23 --> 01:00:32 And I also just kind of wanted to go over some of the people that we lost during
01:00:32 --> 01:00:35 this time, and I kind of compiled some names.
01:00:35 --> 01:00:42 Well, now, Dave, before you do that, you forgot to mention one of your favorite stories of 2024.
01:00:42 --> 01:00:48 Which one is that you forgot to mention the trump assassination attempt.
01:00:52 --> 01:00:55 Oh because i don't believe it that's why i didn't mention it,
01:00:57 --> 01:01:04 well keep in mind let it i didn't want to mention trump because i also could have mentioned i i i
01:01:04 --> 01:01:10 had it in here but i took it away i took it out okay trump was elected president
01:01:10 --> 01:01:18 united states again i took that out now it did happen there was a assassination
01:01:18 --> 01:01:20 attempt and supposedly a second one,
01:01:21 --> 01:01:28 that was thwarted as they said it thwarted you know avoid you know avoided and
01:01:28 --> 01:01:34 all of that stuff because there was supposedly a bomb found you know where he was you know but,
01:01:36 --> 01:01:41 I still have my whole feelings on that whole assassination attempt thing.
01:01:42 --> 01:01:47 Nobody else was shot at, right? Kamala. No, not that we heard of.
01:01:48 --> 01:01:51 None of the other candidates were shot at, right?
01:01:52 --> 01:01:55 Just Trump, who supposedly thinks he's loved by everybody, right?
01:01:57 --> 01:02:01 So, yes. Okay. So, but yeah, Len is correct.
01:02:02 --> 01:02:06 There was, that was the story from 2024, the assassination attempt.
01:02:06 --> 01:02:14 And, of course, the one I took out, Trump in, reelected to the White House as
01:02:14 --> 01:02:15 president of the United States.
01:02:17 --> 01:02:19 So. All right, Leonard, you got me.
01:02:22 --> 01:02:26 You knew I had to throw a monkey. Yeah. Yeah. No, I thought I was going to get
01:02:26 --> 01:02:27 away with that. But anyway.
01:02:28 --> 01:02:36 All right. But we I just wanted to kind of go over a list of some notable people that passed away.
01:02:36 --> 01:02:42 And this little list that I collect I kind of put together so a lot of these
01:02:42 --> 01:02:45 are people that you know that I kind of.
01:02:48 --> 01:02:51 Say that I was familiar with and you
01:02:51 --> 01:02:54 know well a lot of them we all were but you know
01:02:54 --> 01:02:57 definitely people that I was familiar with but just
01:02:57 --> 01:03:03 going to go through the list and I'm going to check and see if Leonard knows
01:03:03 --> 01:03:10 everybody I'm about to say too because you know we know how Leonard is so all
01:03:10 --> 01:03:14 right of course everybody's one of everybody's favorite fathers Mr.
01:03:14 --> 01:03:20 John Amos one of my favorite guys i always thought he was pretty funny and i
01:03:20 --> 01:03:21 like the shows that he was on
01:03:21 --> 01:03:27 mr bob newhart you can you familiar with bob newhart okay let's make sure,
01:03:29 --> 01:03:36 mr apollo creed himself mr cole weathers tito jackson one of the original jackson
01:03:36 --> 01:03:43 vibes miss sissy houston mother of whitney houston and of course gospel singer herself,
01:03:45 --> 01:03:46 originally Mr.
01:03:46 --> 01:03:52 Mufasa Mr. James Earl Jones and of course Darth Vader's voice.
01:03:54 --> 01:04:02 Frankie Bebley lead singer of the group Maze and one of the greatest party songs
01:04:02 --> 01:04:08 I've ever written before I let go so he definitely will be missed,
01:04:09 --> 01:04:14 one of the greatest composers musicians ever Mr.
01:04:15 --> 01:04:18 Quincy Jones Miss Nikki Giovanni,
01:04:19 --> 01:04:24 if you never heard got a chance to hear her speak or read any of her material,
01:04:25 --> 01:04:31 Nikki was all that I saw her live at the University of Delaware one year she
01:04:31 --> 01:04:35 used to live in Delaware at one time too she hated it here though did you ever hear her talk about it,
01:04:36 --> 01:04:39 yeah she was not a fan of Delaware man Yeah.
01:04:42 --> 01:04:50 Ricky Henderson, he was the all-time steals champion base running in baseball,
01:04:50 --> 01:04:53 played for the Oakland A's, Los Angeles Dodgers.
01:04:53 --> 01:04:56 He was a great player, Hall of Famer.
01:04:56 --> 01:05:02 Another Hall of Famer for, I mean, not Hall of Famer, but another great player
01:05:02 --> 01:05:04 in baseball, Mr. Fernando Valenzuela.
01:05:05 --> 01:05:07 You ever hear that name before? Mm-hmm. Okay.
01:05:08 --> 01:05:10 Pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
01:05:11 --> 01:05:20 President Jimmy Carter died at 100 years old just before the year changed this year he was a great man,
01:05:22 --> 01:05:27 I had somebody ask me you know somebody hit me up the day at work and they said
01:05:27 --> 01:05:33 are we going to be is the state going to be closed on January 9th,
01:05:33 --> 01:05:39 the day of his funeral and I said no not that I'm aware of I said it hasn't
01:05:39 --> 01:05:43 been And we haven't been told that, but, you know, they've already they're closing
01:05:43 --> 01:05:44 a lot of the federal offices.
01:05:45 --> 01:05:46 We're not federal. We're state.
01:05:48 --> 01:05:50 And so when the person said, well, why not? They said, you know,
01:05:51 --> 01:05:53 I hear some other offices close.
01:05:53 --> 01:05:56 I said, yeah, because I know the post office will be closed and a couple other
01:05:56 --> 01:05:59 federal offices because they're federal.
01:05:59 --> 01:06:02 And, you know, that job is a federal job.
01:06:04 --> 01:06:06 So this person says to me, Leonard.
01:06:08 --> 01:06:12 But Delaware has always been a democratic state. So anytime,
01:06:12 --> 01:06:18 you know, when I was coming up, anytime a democratic president died, we were closed.
01:06:20 --> 01:06:23 So I'm sitting there thinking about something. I started laughing. I said, OK.
01:06:24 --> 01:06:31 So I said back to them, what was the last? Who was the last democratic president that died?
01:06:31 --> 01:06:34 And the person came back said george bush bush.
01:06:38 --> 01:06:41 So you're like all wrong okay and
01:06:41 --> 01:06:44 i was like uh yeah right i
01:06:44 --> 01:06:47 said no i said if george bush was
01:06:47 --> 01:06:50 you know george bush was a republican not
01:06:50 --> 01:06:54 a democrat they said oh and
01:06:54 --> 01:06:57 i said i'll give you another chance of course they must have went on the internet
01:06:57 --> 01:07:00 because they came back with the right answer do you know who that who there
01:07:00 --> 01:07:05 was without you looking um no i'm not gonna look so if i just had to guess let
01:07:05 --> 01:07:11 me just go back damn i mean it's really gonna be a guess.
01:07:12 --> 01:07:17 Would it have been Truman? I don't know.
01:07:18 --> 01:07:21 You went back a little too far. Yeah, I went back too far. Yeah.
01:07:22 --> 01:07:29 It was somebody after that. Now, a lot of history buffs would probably automatically
01:07:29 --> 01:07:32 go to a certain time and period.
01:07:32 --> 01:07:36 Because if you think about it, it hasn't been recently.
01:07:36 --> 01:07:47 The last democratic president we had to die was jimmy carter prior to him it was way back in 1973,
01:07:48 --> 01:07:52 linden bain johnson yep never
01:07:52 --> 01:07:55 would have known and the only reason that that you
01:07:55 --> 01:07:58 could have even come close to try to figure that out is
01:07:58 --> 01:08:01 because he was the vice president of
01:08:01 --> 01:08:06 john f kennedy when john f kennedy was
01:08:06 --> 01:08:11 assassinated he took over as president and the only way and the only reason
01:08:11 --> 01:08:15 that he could do that because he was a democrat i mean well you know he was
01:08:15 --> 01:08:20 a democrat when he took over and that was the last one that was the last one
01:08:20 --> 01:08:23 to die prior to jimmy carter so,
01:08:25 --> 01:08:29 so there you go a little history lesson i'm sure a lot of people didn't know
01:08:29 --> 01:08:36 that so I'm going to probably get all I knew it that's probably what I'm going to get no you're not.
01:08:38 --> 01:08:44 They're not going to know I knew the answer to that believe it or not I did.
01:08:46 --> 01:08:55 Next Pete Rose former baseball great and you know all time hits champion Mr.
01:08:55 --> 01:08:57 Phil Donahue you remember Phil Donahue.
01:08:59 --> 01:09:06 Actor Donald Sutherland he was always good in his movies I liked him Mr.
01:09:07 --> 01:09:10 Willie Mays one of the greatest baseball players to ever live,
01:09:11 --> 01:09:14 Bill Walton, one of the greatest basketball players to ever live.
01:09:15 --> 01:09:22 Mr. Jerry West, also one of the greatest basketball and Laker of all time. He's the logo.
01:09:22 --> 01:09:25 Matter of fact, a lot of people don't know that. He's the logo of the NBA.
01:09:27 --> 01:09:31 One of my favorite jazz musicians, Mr. David Sanborn.
01:09:33 --> 01:09:39 OJ Simpson. Greg Gumbel, who just died recently in the last week.
01:09:40 --> 01:09:45 Dikembe Mutombo, former basketball great, Hall of Famer.
01:09:46 --> 01:09:52 Mr. Mercury Mars played football for the Miami Dolphins, was on the only undefeated
01:09:52 --> 01:09:58 football team to go all the way through the whole season and win the championship undefeated.
01:09:59 --> 01:10:03 Mr. Wally Amos. What is Wally Amos famous for?
01:10:03 --> 01:10:12 The cookies yes mr famous amos the cookies yes bob love former basketball player
01:10:12 --> 01:10:21 for the chicago bulls one of the best singers of my lifetime miss angela beaufield.
01:10:23 --> 01:10:29 Walker, former basketball player, Hall of Famer, NBA basketball player, Hall of Famer.
01:10:30 --> 01:10:34 Miss Marion Robinson. Who is Marion Robinson? Do you know?
01:10:35 --> 01:10:41 Was she one of the, she's one of those female singing groups.
01:10:41 --> 01:10:44 Was it based out of Philly? Am I on the right track?
01:10:46 --> 01:10:50 No, you're on the track already. You're about to get ran over by a train.
01:10:53 --> 01:10:57 That's because you're not even close. That's so far from the truth.
01:11:01 --> 01:11:06 Good try, though. Marianne Robinson. She was one of the Supremes, okay?
01:11:06 --> 01:11:09 No, I'm kidding. I'm kidding. She wasn't one of the Supremes, okay?
01:11:10 --> 01:11:13 Marianne Robinson is Michelle Obama's mother.
01:11:15 --> 01:11:17 No. Far off.
01:11:19 --> 01:11:22 But yeah we lost we lost the
01:11:22 --> 01:11:25 former first lady's mother last year
01:11:25 --> 01:11:28 and another one of my favorite actors
01:11:28 --> 01:11:31 of all time mr lou gossett jr
01:11:31 --> 01:11:36 died last year so that's
01:11:36 --> 01:11:39 just to name a few of the people that we lost during during
01:11:39 --> 01:11:45 last year some great individuals and they definitely left left a lasting impression
01:11:45 --> 01:11:52 on a lot of people's lives you know personally on mine as well because i you
01:11:52 --> 01:11:56 know connected you know i could connect with each one of them in some kind of way,
01:11:57 --> 01:12:00 and also i'm going to mention this
01:12:00 --> 01:12:07 person they're not famous but we know we know a lot of people know of her miss
01:12:07 --> 01:12:15 leila star as she's affectionately known you know it was a year ago this past
01:12:15 --> 01:12:17 week, right, that she passed away.
01:12:18 --> 01:12:23 For those of you who know Mr. Tim Baird, affectionately known,
01:12:24 --> 01:12:29 also known as DJ Tim Dog, lost his daughter around this time last year.
01:12:31 --> 01:12:38 And it was a sad time for everyone. And I know he's a listener.
01:12:39 --> 01:12:42 And we just want to say, you know, keep your head up.
01:12:42 --> 01:12:51 We know she's with you no definitely and you know and this is a we know this
01:12:51 --> 01:12:55 is a hard time of year for you but you know just letting you know we're thinking about you all right,
01:12:57 --> 01:13:04 okay with that being said dave's corner leonard's favorite part of the show,
01:13:05 --> 01:13:08 let's figure to make this simple.
01:13:10 --> 01:13:13 Your three personal goals for 2000 oh
01:13:13 --> 01:13:23 i put 2024 i can't get out of 2024 2025 which are three personal goals no matter
01:13:23 --> 01:13:31 how all they are so one of them first one if i to do my best to try to,
01:13:31 --> 01:13:36 continue in to carrying the weight of the news and trends podcast with dave and,
01:13:37 --> 01:13:44 But that right there is goal number one, just, you know, make sure my mind doesn't carry it.
01:13:44 --> 01:13:47 Yeah, that's right. You do that, okay?
01:13:47 --> 01:13:51 But so realistically, I think one of them would just be a little better organized,
01:13:52 --> 01:13:56 you know, a little cleaner, a little better with time management,
01:13:56 --> 01:13:58 a little less procrastination.
01:13:58 --> 01:14:00 So, I mean, that's probably one goal.
01:14:02 --> 01:14:05 Second goal and i you know and if
01:14:05 --> 01:14:08 i just said this yesterday somebody too was a
01:14:08 --> 01:14:11 little more self-care almost like a
01:14:11 --> 01:14:14 me day so i either told myself at least once every
01:14:14 --> 01:14:21 week or every other week i'm gonna have a day where i'm not actively working
01:14:21 --> 01:14:25 where i can kind of rest i can catch up on certain things because you know you
01:14:25 --> 01:14:30 know they you know the the stress of life and having to do something every day
01:14:30 --> 01:14:31 can kind of get to you after a while.
01:14:32 --> 01:14:34 So I definitely want to incorporate a me day.
01:14:35 --> 01:14:37 So I guess that'd be two to four times a month.
01:14:38 --> 01:14:45 And then, you know, I think the last one would, to be honest,
01:14:46 --> 01:14:52 all the goals or a few of the goals that I did not accomplish in 2024,
01:14:53 --> 01:14:56 I want to continue them and accomplish them in 2025.
01:14:56 --> 01:15:02 So, you know, a couple of the business ideas and, you know, just some of the,
01:15:02 --> 01:15:06 putting some of the businesses to the level that I want them to get to,
01:15:06 --> 01:15:08 which of course requires work.
01:15:09 --> 01:15:11 But so then those are kind of my three goals.
01:15:13 --> 01:15:17 What about yourself? What are some of your personal goals for 2025?
01:15:19 --> 01:15:24 Okay. And, you know, Len is trying to skirt past becoming a billionaire, but don't worry.
01:15:24 --> 01:15:27 Don't worry. I'll make sure you all know that when it happens.
01:15:27 --> 01:15:28 Okay. Cause I'll be right there.
01:15:28 --> 01:15:34 Anyway, mine are pretty simple.
01:15:35 --> 01:15:38 First one I'll mention is just trying to stay healthy and
01:15:38 --> 01:15:40 make it through to another year you know
01:15:40 --> 01:15:43 what i mean too many of us are
01:15:43 --> 01:15:47 just inexplicably just
01:15:47 --> 01:15:51 not making it you know what i mean one moment you're there and the next moment
01:15:51 --> 01:15:57 you're not and i just you know as i get up in age up next month i'll be turning
01:15:57 --> 01:16:06 a different age so uh i just as you You know, the ages aren't going down. They're going up.
01:16:08 --> 01:16:14 And I want to live life as long as I can and get to watch you,
01:16:14 --> 01:16:20 you know, accomplish your goals, you know, and other people watch my kids accomplish their goals.
01:16:20 --> 01:16:24 So that's one of the things I definitely want to do is make it through to another year.
01:16:26 --> 01:16:33 Number two is a goal that I have in my mind is to retire at the end of the year from my job.
01:16:36 --> 01:16:42 It might be a leaf of faith, but I just never saw myself as one of these people
01:16:42 --> 01:16:52 to work past 65 and keep working and keep working into my 70s because I had to.
01:16:53 --> 01:16:58 I want to be able to enjoy life. If I've seen too many people that are working
01:16:58 --> 01:17:04 to a certain age and then they'll retire, the next thing you know,
01:17:04 --> 01:17:05 you're reading their obituary.
01:17:06 --> 01:17:09 I don't want that to be me. I want to be able to enjoy my retirement.
01:17:11 --> 01:17:15 And if I choose to do some other things, then I have the option to do that.
01:17:16 --> 01:17:22 But I just want to be able to enjoy life. I don't want to have to work the rest
01:17:22 --> 01:17:24 of my life. You know what I mean?
01:17:24 --> 01:17:27 Yeah. So that's a goal for this year is to retire.
01:17:28 --> 01:17:35 Number three, get a chance to do some really much needed traveling.
01:17:35 --> 01:17:40 You know, I used to travel a lot. I haven't done much of that lately.
01:17:41 --> 01:17:44 And really because I haven't really taken the time to do it.
01:17:44 --> 01:17:47 And I really would like to do that.
01:17:47 --> 01:17:53 I want to be able to do that. So after I, you know, as I get close to the retirement
01:17:53 --> 01:17:54 thing and then, of course,
01:17:55 --> 01:18:01 retiring, that is something I'm truly open to do is to be able to do some more
01:18:01 --> 01:18:03 traveling and be able to, uh.
01:18:05 --> 01:18:08 You know, be able to go to places that I haven't been before.
01:18:08 --> 01:18:13 You know, I've been I've been to a few places, but I mean, I want to go to places
01:18:13 --> 01:18:16 that I haven't been before and really enjoy myself.
01:18:16 --> 01:18:22 So those are the things that are I think that I have on my books for this year.
01:18:23 --> 01:18:28 OK, all right. Well, sounds good. I guess we kind of started off with the birthday party there.
01:18:28 --> 01:18:36 Home yeah well you know i need to get i need to figure out what i'm doing as
01:18:36 --> 01:18:42 far as that's concerned but yeah you know uh there will be one coming i guess
01:18:42 --> 01:18:45 you know god that's next month.
01:18:48 --> 01:18:53 Time just goes so fast man it's just scary man it is really scary you know so
01:18:53 --> 01:18:59 So, but there we have it, folks. That's the year 2024.
01:18:59 --> 01:19:07 And a recap, you know, hopefully 2025 will be fun.
01:19:08 --> 01:19:14 Not as much drama, but you never know. It's never a thought moment in life anymore.
01:19:15 --> 01:19:20 So. No, not at all. But one thing we're hoping that will remain constant,
01:19:20 --> 01:19:26 constant is that news and trends will be there to fill you in on everything that's going on.
01:19:27 --> 01:19:35 We thank you for 2024 from us personally for hanging in with us.
01:19:37 --> 01:19:41 Listening, and giving us your feedback and your comments.
01:19:42 --> 01:19:49 Hopefully, 2025 will be informative and the same type of year that we had last year.
01:19:50 --> 01:19:53 Right, Leonard? You got anything to say to that? Yeah, no, I mean,
01:19:53 --> 01:19:57 I agree. I want to definitely wish everybody a happy new year.
01:19:58 --> 01:20:00 And Dave, I was listening to something the other day and it said,
01:20:00 --> 01:20:07 if you have goals, you are 60% more likely to achieve them if you write them
01:20:07 --> 01:20:09 down and look at them every day.
01:20:09 --> 01:20:12 So I just want to encourage everyone out there who's making new year resolutions,
01:20:12 --> 01:20:17 make sure you write them down and look at them every day and you're more likely to achieve them.
01:20:17 --> 01:20:22 That's right. And that is something that people, philosophers,
01:20:22 --> 01:20:24 all types of people have talked about every day.
01:20:25 --> 01:20:30 If it's there in front of you, then you can touch it, you can feel it and you
01:20:30 --> 01:20:32 can achieve it. There you go.
01:20:32 --> 01:20:37 So, all right. Well, that's our show. We're sticking to it.
01:20:38 --> 01:20:43 We really appreciate you and we will talk to you next week. Have a good night.
01:20:51 --> 01:20:56 Join us next week for another edition of news and trends with your.
