Bootcamps, Ballrooms, and Betrayal: News & Trends with Dave and Lynn

Bootcamps, Ballrooms, and Betrayal: News & Trends with Dave and Lynn

Hosts Dave and Len discuss community and culture in this episode, starting with the Black Superhero Bootcamp for Brooklyn middle-school boys that teaches leadership, emotional regulation, and life skills.

They react to the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting, former President Obamaโ€™s response, and the conspiracy theories and security questions that followed.

The show also covers celebrity headlines including Megan Thee Stallionโ€™s accusations against Klay Thompson, a surprising report on the most dangerous states for children, and a light closing with math-themed pickup lines.

00:01:21 --> 00:01:24 Hanging out with my partner, Mr. Leonard Young. What's going on, sir?
00:01:25 --> 00:01:32 Hey, Dave, everything good? This is Leonard Young, CEO of National Black Guide, DelawareBlack.com.
00:01:32 --> 00:01:34 Soon to be culture check, Dave.
00:01:35 --> 00:01:41 And then... Culture check. Yeah, culture check. The Ultimate Test of Black Trivia.
00:01:42 --> 00:01:49 Oh, okay. Just so you know, we're launching soon, probably within the next seven days.
00:01:50 --> 00:01:57 So I already know you're going to be my first player slash reviewer slash money spender. Yeah.
00:01:58 --> 00:02:02 Wait, so is this a chance to win money or something?
00:02:03 --> 00:02:06 And when you say money, you're talking about pride and respect. Yes.
00:02:09 --> 00:02:11 Okay. All right. Yeah. All right. I tried, folks.
00:02:11 --> 00:02:14 I tried to get them to try to see if y'all can win some money,
00:02:14 --> 00:02:19 you know, but I guess well, Dave, I already know you got to be donating to the
00:02:19 --> 00:02:22 cause so maybe they can win some of the money you donate.
00:02:22 --> 00:02:27 I'll donate some answers. That's about, you know, I don't know if they're all
00:02:27 --> 00:02:32 going to be right there. So would they, would they, we, we, we already know your score.
00:02:32 --> 00:02:35 So we know they're not going to all be right.
00:02:36 --> 00:02:40 Well, you know, you can't ask the same question more than, more than once, man. Okay. All right.
00:02:40 --> 00:02:45 So, but okay. Culture check. Okay. All right. Hey guys.
00:02:46 --> 00:02:48 Let's see how well you do on this. Okay.
00:02:49 --> 00:02:53 We know Leonard's not going to score well. So, okay. So yeah, here we go.
00:02:56 --> 00:03:01 So, and he has all the answers. because he's still going to get below the minimal score.
00:03:01 --> 00:03:04 Oh, wait, here, Dave, that's what we do.
00:03:04 --> 00:03:09 Once it launches, we will. Yeah, we can do something. We can do something on the air.
00:03:09 --> 00:03:13 Yeah, we'll do a challenge. We'll do a one-on-one. Okay. All right.
00:03:14 --> 00:03:16 All right, 10 questions. All right. All right.
00:03:18 --> 00:03:23 You know, we'll see how well this goes. Okay. All right. Yeah.
00:03:23 --> 00:03:27 All right. Everything else, okay? Yeah, everything else is, I'm trying to think
00:03:27 --> 00:03:32 what I did this weekend, and nothing is really... No, that's not good.
00:03:32 --> 00:03:33 You don't remember anything.
00:03:34 --> 00:03:36 Well, you know, it's funny. I feel like I did something...
00:03:38 --> 00:03:42 I know you said you didn't go see Michael Jackson like half the other world did.
00:03:43 --> 00:03:47 No, no. No, I haven't seen it yet either. But I don't usually go to the movies
00:03:47 --> 00:03:50 when opening weekends and so forth because it does meet too many people.
00:03:51 --> 00:03:54 Right. And they'd be in there running their mouths and stuff like that.
00:03:54 --> 00:03:57 So I'd rather go see it when it's quiet.
00:03:58 --> 00:04:02 Now, Dave, the one thing I will say, I wouldn't mind going to see it.
00:04:02 --> 00:04:09 But I wouldn't mind going to see opening night or opening weekend to see how many people dressed up.
00:04:09 --> 00:04:13 Because, like, you know, when I've seen the recaps, a lot of people dressing,
00:04:13 --> 00:04:17 you know, they're dancing in the, you know, before they get in.
00:04:17 --> 00:04:21 Yeah, a lot of people at the premiere, I know I saw a lot of people dressed
00:04:21 --> 00:04:24 up. And that's men and women dressed up like him.
00:04:25 --> 00:04:30 And, you know, the critics, it's funny how tricky the critics are.
00:04:31 --> 00:04:34 The critics tried to pan the movie.
00:04:35 --> 00:04:39 But, you know, everybody said, don't pay attention to the reviews.
00:04:39 --> 00:04:43 And they made over $314 million over the weekend.
00:04:43 --> 00:04:49 So, you know, they did very well. They tried to make it, you know,
00:04:49 --> 00:04:53 they always try to pan on movies all the time, every time we have a movie.
00:04:54 --> 00:04:58 And, you know, it didn't make me think. So today when I was talking to DJ Tim
00:04:58 --> 00:05:03 Dog, shout out to DJ Tim doll but he was saying and and he made a good point
00:05:03 --> 00:05:04 that I thought about later,
00:05:05 --> 00:05:15 he he said a lot of the critics were basing the movie off of Michael Jackson's life.
00:05:16 --> 00:05:21 No no so he said they were kind of basing off his life you know almost like
00:05:21 --> 00:05:23 oh well they left this out they left this out,
00:05:23 --> 00:05:28 And my whole thing is, OK, take the documentary as it is.
00:05:28 --> 00:05:32 You know, like, I mean, they're not going to put all the bad stuff about Michael in there.
00:05:32 --> 00:05:36 But, you know, it's kind of like some critics were basing it almost like,
00:05:37 --> 00:05:39 OK, this is not the complete story.
00:05:40 --> 00:05:45 When, you know, in my mind, it's like, OK, what they produced is what they wanted you to see.
00:05:46 --> 00:05:49 So, you know, base your base, your reviews on what you're actually watching.
00:05:50 --> 00:05:56 Well, supposedly, it's rumored that there's going to be another movie, a second movie.
00:05:57 --> 00:06:00 Like a part two or something all over it?
00:06:00 --> 00:06:03 Because keep in mind, it's a part two.
00:06:03 --> 00:06:12 Keep in mind, because this particular period of time that they're covering is from 1958 to 1988.
00:06:13 --> 00:06:17 Oh, okay. Gotcha. So there's still a lot, you know, that happened after 88,
00:06:17 --> 00:06:20 you know, as far as the music and everything goes.
00:06:22 --> 00:06:28 And so they're already saying that there's probably going to be a part two just
00:06:28 --> 00:06:31 by the way they left the movie at the how they ended the movie.
00:06:32 --> 00:06:39 So and then like I was listening to a couple radio. I know what you call. Yeah.
00:06:42 --> 00:06:48 Talking about these and they handed it around.
00:06:48 --> 00:06:50 How do you want to cover for a little over two hours?
00:06:51 --> 00:06:53 No way. You can do that.
00:06:54 --> 00:07:00 You know, even that movie they did, the Jackson's, the American story,
00:07:00 --> 00:07:02 whatever it was called, remember the documentary, I mean, the movie they did
00:07:02 --> 00:07:05 about him and his brothers? That was four and a half hours.
00:07:06 --> 00:07:08 Jesus. I ain't watching all that.
00:07:10 --> 00:07:16 I'm not. I forgot what I'm talking to. And he's true.
00:07:18 --> 00:07:25 Yeah. He, um, he ain't gonna listen to, but he ain't gonna watch with so much of these things. Nah.
00:07:25 --> 00:07:29 Um, but that's, you know, I'm used to hearing him say that.
00:07:30 --> 00:07:33 So, but. No, no surprise. Dave, no surprises about me.
00:07:34 --> 00:07:39 Yeah, that's true. That's true. You're consistent. You are definitely consistent.
00:07:40 --> 00:07:46 But hopefully the music you know well I mean like I said everybody sees it I haven't heard,
00:07:47 --> 00:07:52 anybody say anything bad about it other than the fact they wish it was more
00:07:52 --> 00:07:58 you know so but I guess we'll see what happens when that comes out,
00:07:59 --> 00:08:03 you know you were talking about the start of the weekend man let me see any
00:08:03 --> 00:08:07 other things might have happened this weekend that you can think about huh,
00:08:08 --> 00:08:11 you know we had a correspondence dinner that didn't go so well.
00:08:13 --> 00:08:17 And there's so many theories coming out now we'll talk about something we'll
00:08:17 --> 00:08:22 talk about one person's comments as we continue with tonight's show so,
00:08:23 --> 00:08:28 You know, I heard a very interesting theory about what happened about,
00:08:29 --> 00:08:32 you know, because there's all this fuss, you know, they held up the,
00:08:32 --> 00:08:38 the building of the ballroom, you know, and, you know,
00:08:39 --> 00:08:42 they're trying to, you know, they said the judges are trying to rule,
00:08:43 --> 00:08:45 you know, whether they're going to let it continue or not.
00:08:46 --> 00:08:52 It was an interesting theory I heard it was last night saying that the reason
00:08:52 --> 00:08:56 that that happened was to prove that they need the ballroom because the ballroom
00:08:56 --> 00:09:00 would have gave them all the security and all that stuff that they didn't have that,
00:09:01 --> 00:09:08 well I mean that's one thing about Trump Trump is just thinking two steps ahead,
00:09:08 --> 00:09:11 you know you know what it might be.
00:09:13 --> 00:09:17 It's almost like a criminal who's about to rob the bank and they go through
00:09:17 --> 00:09:19 all the scenarios. You know what I mean?
00:09:19 --> 00:09:22 It's like they got to have everything lined up.
00:09:23 --> 00:09:29 And it's not a coincidence that after all of that happened, did you see how much gas jumped up?
00:09:29 --> 00:09:38 Did you notice the gas prices today? No. I got gas Saturday for like $3.75 where I stopped.
00:09:39 --> 00:09:41 Okay. It was $4.04 today.
00:09:42 --> 00:09:44 Oh, wow. $4.04.
00:09:45 --> 00:09:51 Okay so gas ever since he got on TV on the State of Union the union address
00:09:51 --> 00:09:56 a few weeks ago and he said gas prices is the lowest they ever been,
00:09:57 --> 00:10:02 gas has gone up over a dollar since then that's crazy so.
00:10:04 --> 00:10:11 But what can you say so that happened we'll talk about something else that happened
00:10:11 --> 00:10:17 too and that'll be one of our stories tonight So we got some things to talk about Okay,
00:10:18 --> 00:10:22 Alright let's get started with Let's get started with our first story,
00:10:23 --> 00:10:28 I found this story, and I thought this was pretty cool. Black Superhero Boot
00:10:28 --> 00:10:31 Camp gives Brooklyn boys a blueprint for success.
00:10:32 --> 00:10:37 It says about three dozen middle school students gathered earlier this month
00:10:37 --> 00:10:41 at the Brownsville Community Middle School in Brooklyn, New York,
00:10:41 --> 00:10:46 learning to lead and regulate their emotions, explore careers,
00:10:46 --> 00:10:50 and build the kind of confidence that doesn't show up in the report card.
00:10:50 --> 00:10:56 Black Superhero Boot Camp, it's called, was founded by civil rights attorney
00:10:56 --> 00:11:04 Charles Coleman Jr., brought together students from Brooklyn's District 23 for a day of workshops.
00:11:06 --> 00:11:13 Fitness training, and life skills programming. Sponsored by the nonprofit CFC40
00:11:13 --> 00:11:17 and supported by the New York City Department of Education,
00:11:17 --> 00:11:24 the April 11th event was designed to provide Black middle school boys with a
00:11:24 --> 00:11:32 space built for them as they approach the end of their academic year to a news release.
00:11:33 --> 00:11:38 Black Superhero Bootcamp is about showing our young people that leadership,
00:11:38 --> 00:11:44 resilience, and self-care are skills they can practice every day.
00:11:45 --> 00:11:50 We created a space where students could build confidence, learn tools to manage
00:11:50 --> 00:11:56 their emotions, and see themselves as problem solvers and leaders in the communities.
00:11:57 --> 00:12:03 Coleman has extensive history in youth mentorship. He previously founded and
00:12:03 --> 00:12:10 led Edge Movement New York City, a mentoring program for young Black and Latino boys.
00:12:10 --> 00:12:18 And in 2019, the Black Superhero Project coordinating 10 service projects across the country.
00:12:19 --> 00:12:23 The Black Superhero Bootcamp expands on years of community service,
00:12:23 --> 00:12:30 transforming membership into actionable programs for youth, the news release states.
00:12:31 --> 00:12:37 The day begins with breakfast and continued with a series of workshops and sessions,
00:12:37 --> 00:12:43 including leadership and voice-building exercises that help students identify
00:12:43 --> 00:12:44 the strengths of practice,
00:12:45 --> 00:12:47 public speaking, life skills.
00:12:47 --> 00:12:52 Sessions focused on decision-making, goal-setting, and conflict resolution.
00:12:52 --> 00:12:59 A session on turning passion into a profession where students learn about filmmaking
00:12:59 --> 00:13:02 and what it takes to become a professional DJ,
00:13:02 --> 00:13:10 and physical fitness training and yoga sessions emphasizing emotional regulation and mindfulness.
00:13:11 --> 00:13:15 So this program sounds like a pretty cool program.
00:13:15 --> 00:13:26 And, you know, it sounds like a way to give young men a chance to realize a
00:13:26 --> 00:13:31 lot of the things that they probably could later on have issues with, you know,
00:13:31 --> 00:13:38 as far as leadership and, you know, how to handle their emotions,
00:13:38 --> 00:13:43 life skills, also being able to, you know,
00:13:43 --> 00:13:45 pick a profession and work it well.
00:13:45 --> 00:13:53 I think this is a great program. And I like the fact that they're using superheroes as a positive program.
00:13:54 --> 00:13:58 Male building type role model, you know what I mean?
00:13:59 --> 00:14:03 What's your thoughts on hearing about a program like this?
00:14:03 --> 00:14:08 Is this a program that we feel that should be available everywhere?
00:14:08 --> 00:14:13 Yeah, I mean, I definitely agree. I think, you know, superheroes are always
00:14:13 --> 00:14:16 cool to boys at any age. So, you know what I mean?
00:14:16 --> 00:14:22 Like, you know, there's never an age where, you know, liking superheroes is
00:14:22 --> 00:14:24 corny, you know, so to speak.
00:14:25 --> 00:14:29 Cause Dave, you already know the Marvel movies, you know, all the adults be up in there.
00:14:31 --> 00:14:34 I mean, I, I, I definitely think it's a good thing.
00:14:34 --> 00:14:37 Um, I was just talking to somebody yesterday and they were just talking about
00:14:37 --> 00:14:44 all the alternative activities for black youth that, you know,
00:14:44 --> 00:14:48 we don't get to, I won't say that aren't is popular.
00:14:48 --> 00:14:50 So of course, you know, when we think about activities for black youth,
00:14:51 --> 00:14:52 the number one thing everyone thinks is sports.
00:14:53 --> 00:14:55 But, you know, there's so much more.
00:14:56 --> 00:15:00 And, you know, and I think some of these life skills, decision making,
00:15:00 --> 00:15:05 goal setting, conflict resolution, you know, those are all important skills
00:15:05 --> 00:15:06 that a lot of adults haven't mastered.
00:15:07 --> 00:15:11 So, you know, I think for them just to get the opportunity to shoot,
00:15:12 --> 00:15:14 maybe express themselves, be creative.
00:15:15 --> 00:15:19 You know, show their leaderships, you know, be able to show different skills
00:15:19 --> 00:15:25 than maybe only being proud of that they can, you know, just dribble a basketball
00:15:25 --> 00:15:28 and, you know, catch a touchdown or something.
00:15:29 --> 00:15:32 Yeah. And that's important because we, you know,
00:15:32 --> 00:15:37 of course, everybody, when we look at TV and we look at today's culture,
00:15:37 --> 00:15:43 everybody wants to be in, you know, a rapper or athlete or whatever,
00:15:43 --> 00:15:46 because they look at the money aspect and they say, okay.
00:15:47 --> 00:15:51 I can get that money and do all kinds of things.
00:15:51 --> 00:15:55 But then you got to think outside the box at times too. And...
00:15:56 --> 00:16:01 You know, this guy was saying, the Coleman guy who started this program,
00:16:02 --> 00:16:06 he says, I think my black superhero power is just simply being black.
00:16:07 --> 00:16:15 I think when you're black, you experience the world and different things in it in different ways.
00:16:15 --> 00:16:20 And that's what you got to work with. You got to be able to see because they
00:16:20 --> 00:16:22 don't think, and, you know,
00:16:23 --> 00:16:29 using our famous friends, they, they don't think we're capable of being able
00:16:29 --> 00:16:32 to do a lot of things that they can do. You know what I mean?
00:16:32 --> 00:16:38 Or do them better. Now, of course, you know, I always tell young guys or whatever,
00:16:39 --> 00:16:45 you know, when I was coming up, there was only certain sports that you can go
00:16:45 --> 00:16:50 into that you were going to have a chance of being successful in. Football, basketball.
00:16:50 --> 00:16:56 Basically, that was it. And baseball. But we were the minority in baseball.
00:16:56 --> 00:17:02 You know, nowadays, we have infiltrated just about every sport.
00:17:03 --> 00:17:08 I mean, if you think about it, hockey, that wasn't a sport that we were really big in.
00:17:09 --> 00:17:14 We have hockey. We got soccer. We got, what, tennis.
00:17:14 --> 00:17:20 You know, so all the sports that, golf, you know, so all the sports that we
00:17:20 --> 00:17:25 wasn't playing when I was coming up, you know, except for a few of them.
00:17:25 --> 00:17:30 Now we have become some of the top money earners in those sports.
00:17:30 --> 00:17:36 You know. So the potential to be great at any of these things is always there,
00:17:36 --> 00:17:41 and you just have to make sure that you apply yourself, and I think this program helps you do that.
00:17:42 --> 00:17:48 So my hat's off to Mr. Coleman and the things that he was able to accomplish
00:17:48 --> 00:17:52 with this program and may other programs like this pop up,
00:17:52 --> 00:17:59 or maybe he's able to get them into other states other than the ones that he's
00:17:59 --> 00:18:02 already done programs in. Right. Okay.
00:18:03 --> 00:18:06 All right. Let's see. Moving on to our next program.
00:18:08 --> 00:18:12 I mean, our next story. That's a program. Our former president,
00:18:13 --> 00:18:19 Barack Obama, reacted to the shooting that took place over the weekend.
00:18:19 --> 00:18:25 And I'm sure by now, everybody who's probably listening has heard about the
00:18:25 --> 00:18:31 White House correspondence dinner shooting that happened over the weekend on Saturday.
00:18:32 --> 00:18:37 That people are still having a hard time believing was real.
00:18:38 --> 00:18:41 You know, every day I keep seeing stories about.
00:18:42 --> 00:18:47 I don't know. That's what everybody keeps saying. I don't know. You know, so, you know.
00:18:48 --> 00:18:52 Jimmy Kimmel went off in his monologue last night. It was crazy.
00:18:52 --> 00:18:57 If you get a chance later, check his monologue out. Okay, I wasn't there. Yeah, yeah, so.
00:18:58 --> 00:19:01 But let's see what the president had, the former president had to say.
00:19:02 --> 00:19:06 He said, former President Barack Obama condemned violence and praised the bravery
00:19:06 --> 00:19:11 of the United States Secret Service after this past weekend's shooting scare
00:19:11 --> 00:19:14 at the White House. correspondence today.
00:19:14 --> 00:19:18 However, America's first
00:19:18 --> 00:19:27 black president also ignited fury from the political right for suggesting that
00:19:27 --> 00:19:33 the motive of the suspected shooter charged on Monday for the attempted assassination
00:19:33 --> 00:19:36 of President Donald Trump was unknown.
00:19:37 --> 00:19:43 Although we don't yet have the details about the motives behind last night's
00:19:43 --> 00:19:46 shooting at the White House at the Correspondents' Dinner,
00:19:47 --> 00:19:55 it's incumbent upon all of us to reject the idea that violence has a place in our democracy,
00:19:55 --> 00:20:01 said Obama, who, like all modern presidents, served in the White House during
00:20:01 --> 00:20:05 dozens of mass shootings from 2009 to 2017.
00:20:06 --> 00:20:11 Former President Barack Obama condemned violence and praised the bravery of
00:20:11 --> 00:20:13 the United States Secret Service.
00:20:13 --> 00:20:20 However, America, it says that, you know, he definitely really feels that there
00:20:20 --> 00:20:27 is more to the story than to meet the eye without really going that deep into it, as he puts it.
00:20:27 --> 00:20:35 He said Donald Trump was unknown, although we don't yet have the details about
00:20:35 --> 00:20:37 the murders behind last night's shooting at the White House.
00:20:38 --> 00:20:46 They said that the 64-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner is also a sober reminder
00:20:46 --> 00:20:50 of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service agents showed every day.
00:20:50 --> 00:20:56 I'm grateful to them and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.
00:20:57 --> 00:21:01 Obama's reaction to the April 25th incident in D.C.
00:21:01 --> 00:21:06 Was not uncommon, as he often speaks out against national issues since leaving office.
00:21:07 --> 00:21:14 However, Republican leaders and conservatives online, they railed against Obama
00:21:14 --> 00:21:18 for saying federal investigators don't yet have the details about motives.
00:21:18 --> 00:21:23 Let's not pretend to be this clueless about motives.
00:21:23 --> 00:21:31 So they're getting on Obama because he's trying to say something without saying
00:21:31 --> 00:21:33 something, if you feel me.
00:21:33 --> 00:21:42 You know, he said the attempted assassin put out an anti-Trump manifesto about
00:21:42 --> 00:21:47 wanting to kill Trump administrative officers,
00:21:47 --> 00:21:50 officials, I should say,
00:21:51 --> 00:21:56 minutes before trying to storm a ballroom filled with the president,
00:21:56 --> 00:21:58 VP, cabinet, and many others.
00:21:58 --> 00:22:03 This is another example showing how Barack Obama is one of the most divisive
00:22:03 --> 00:22:10 figures in America politics today so many of our divisions were caused by the smug,
00:22:10 --> 00:22:15 demeaning and narrow-minded way he treats his opponents now this was said by
00:22:15 --> 00:22:23 Ari Fleischer Fox News contributor the former White House press secretary for
00:22:23 --> 00:22:25 President George Bush so,
00:22:26 --> 00:22:27 you know.
00:22:29 --> 00:22:32 I read the story, and I'm going to stop there. There's more to it.
00:22:32 --> 00:22:39 But because he said that the motive hadn't come out yet, all of a sudden he's
00:22:39 --> 00:22:45 being slammed because he's trying not to say something that he thinks,
00:22:45 --> 00:22:47 and everybody else is thinking already.
00:22:48 --> 00:22:51 Because let's go with the conspiracy theory, Leonard.
00:22:52 --> 00:22:56 We know this shooter was what color? Mixed.
00:22:58 --> 00:22:59 Like black. I.
00:23:02 --> 00:23:08 And when he was apprehended, did it look like there was any nicks or straight scrapes on him?
00:23:08 --> 00:23:13 I was wondering why his shirt was off. I still haven't heard that part.
00:23:13 --> 00:23:17 I know. And that was another thing because everybody said, where's the shirt?
00:23:17 --> 00:23:20 Okay. Because when he ran through, he had a shirt on.
00:23:21 --> 00:23:25 You can see it like when he kind of ran through the lobby, he wasn't shirtless.
00:23:26 --> 00:23:29 Okay. So maybe they ripped it off. I don't know.
00:23:29 --> 00:23:36 Who knows? But notice one glaring thing about this man.
00:23:37 --> 00:23:39 He wasn't dead.
00:23:40 --> 00:23:48 Right. Now, we know in most cases that man would not be alive.
00:23:49 --> 00:23:53 Come on. You agree or you disagree? Yeah, no, no. I mean, I definitely agree.
00:23:54 --> 00:24:00 Okay. We know in today's climate, there's no way he would have been alive, okay?
00:24:03 --> 00:24:07 So there's a bunch of conspiracy theories out there.
00:24:08 --> 00:24:12 And, of course, with everything that's going on with this ballroom and,
00:24:12 --> 00:24:17 you know, a lot of people are saying this was just all staged.
00:24:17 --> 00:24:22 It looked staged to me from the very beginning when the guy comes out and he shows him the note.
00:24:24 --> 00:24:27 That was weird well was that was
00:24:27 --> 00:24:30 supposed to be a magician he was showing him a magic trick that was the mental
00:24:30 --> 00:24:34 that was the mentalist right because that's who was that's who they had that
00:24:34 --> 00:24:38 yeah the mentalist was supposed to be the person and that's that famous guy
00:24:38 --> 00:24:44 that goes and talks to all the football players and all that stuff but he wasn't
00:24:44 --> 00:24:46 doing a joke he wasn't doing this act at that time.
00:24:48 --> 00:24:54 Right. So and then you see him kind of say we have to evacuate.
00:24:54 --> 00:24:58 That's what they said that people was reading his lips saying that we have to evacuate.
00:24:58 --> 00:25:02 The fact that they got up, they got they got Vance out first.
00:25:02 --> 00:25:04 Did you notice that? No, I didn't.
00:25:05 --> 00:25:10 They got Vance out first because the day there was a thing online that said
00:25:10 --> 00:25:14 that Trump was explaining why Vance was taken out so quickly before him.
00:25:14 --> 00:25:17 What was that answer? he said
00:25:17 --> 00:25:20 because it was he said something
00:25:20 --> 00:25:23 about it was easier to get him
00:25:23 --> 00:25:26 out from where he was than where they
00:25:26 --> 00:25:31 were because there was more people on his side gotcha and and i mean i i was
00:25:31 --> 00:25:35 thinking that too in my mind i was thinking trump is old so he probably he probably
00:25:35 --> 00:25:40 can't get up quick he you know i mean like he probably gotta have someone help
00:25:40 --> 00:25:44 him get up yeah but what was so funnier to be was how they left all the women behind.
00:25:45 --> 00:25:49 Yeah, like RFK, how they had his woman behind.
00:25:50 --> 00:25:55 Security didn't even care about his woman. No, Melania, they left Melania.
00:25:55 --> 00:25:58 Melania was crawling on the ground behind them. Oh, wow.
00:25:59 --> 00:26:01 So was Patel's wife.
00:26:02 --> 00:26:07 I think they did get Vance's wife. I saw the pregnant.
00:26:07 --> 00:26:13 Yeah, they did help her out, but they kind of Yeah, she didn't get down.
00:26:14 --> 00:26:15 They just kind of took her out. Yeah.
00:26:16 --> 00:26:19 But the other women, they left. Yeah.
00:26:20 --> 00:26:27 Yeah. It was just a weird thing. The gentlemen of the Republican Party putting themselves first.
00:26:27 --> 00:26:31 Yeah, putting themselves first. I mean, did you think it was staged like that?
00:26:32 --> 00:26:40 Overall, yes. I mean, it was just very weird. So, Dave, let me just run through my little statistics.
00:26:40 --> 00:26:46 Okay, the guy had noโ€”to be honest, Dave, when someone told me about it and sent
00:26:46 --> 00:26:49 me the picture, I said, why don't he have no clothes on?
00:26:49 --> 00:26:54 Because, you know, I justโ€”he was butt naked down there. Like, I know he had pants.
00:26:54 --> 00:26:59 And then I saw he was mixed and almost mixed looking more white than,
00:26:59 --> 00:27:02 you know, it looked like he was raised by a white mama.
00:27:02 --> 00:27:06 Nothing against white mamas of course but you
00:27:06 --> 00:27:09 know that and they what black
00:27:09 --> 00:27:12 man leaves a manifesto like like
00:27:12 --> 00:27:16 i'm like i'm just trying to think of like what black person leaves a manifesto
00:27:16 --> 00:27:22 yeah who does that right right then of course you know just how weird trump
00:27:22 --> 00:27:27 looked at the whole thing like for me when that mentalist or magician or whatever
00:27:27 --> 00:27:31 he was trump looked like like okay like
00:27:31 --> 00:27:34 almost like looking at his watch like okay like hurry up like something about
00:27:34 --> 00:27:40 to happen you know then of course how they they ran all the men out women following behind them.
00:27:41 --> 00:27:46 Then that one guy who stayed eating his food almost like he was the casting
00:27:46 --> 00:27:52 director you know who they said that guy was he's wolf blitzer blitzer's agent
00:27:52 --> 00:27:57 okay so that that was the coolest This guy,
00:27:57 --> 00:28:00 so I posted it to my story. He was not moving.
00:28:00 --> 00:28:04 Yep. I posted it to my story. Did you hear what he said afterwards? What did he say?
00:28:05 --> 00:28:09 Basically, he said, hey, you know, I've seen all I need to see in this life.
00:28:10 --> 00:28:16 He's like, I have something bad with my back, so I cannot get down on the floor.
00:28:17 --> 00:28:22 And he said, I'm a germ freak. So he's like, the last thing I'd be doing is
00:28:22 --> 00:28:24 getting on everybody's floor. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:28:25 --> 00:28:28 So, so he, he just said, but I mean, it was just one, he just kept on eating.
00:28:29 --> 00:28:33 And then, so the other things, oh, what was the other thing?
00:28:33 --> 00:28:36 I can't think, but I mean, those are the main things. It was just weird.
00:28:37 --> 00:28:42 And it's like. Did you hear how many lobsters they had to get rid of?
00:28:42 --> 00:28:48 No. One more thing before I forget. The last thing is I always feel like when
00:28:48 --> 00:28:52 Trump gets in deep in something he can't get out of,
00:28:52 --> 00:28:57 So there's always another controversy that pops up to take everybody's attention off.
00:28:58 --> 00:29:02 So it's so funny because right after that happened, I saw that they were not
00:29:02 --> 00:29:08 going to be sending the American representatives to go negotiate in Palestine
00:29:08 --> 00:29:11 or Pakistan to negotiate.
00:29:11 --> 00:29:13 And I'm like, oh, man, like, OK, look at that.
00:29:14 --> 00:29:22 So now what? So the lobsters. Yeah, they said they had over 2 lobsters that they had prepared.
00:29:23 --> 00:29:28 How many people were there? The place was packed. There was a lot of people there.
00:29:29 --> 00:29:34 Were there 2 people, though? No, but, you know, hey, they got to prepare
00:29:34 --> 00:29:36 in case people want to eat more than one.
00:29:37 --> 00:29:44 But they said it was a lot of lobster. So what did they throw it out? Really?
00:29:45 --> 00:29:49 Come on now. We know they ain't throw them out. Well, that's what they said.
00:29:50 --> 00:29:53 Somebody feasting on lobster. They threw them out into somebody's car.
00:29:54 --> 00:29:57 Right. And then somebody's refrigerator probably. Yeah.
00:29:57 --> 00:30:05 But yeah, they said that was a very expensive dinner not to have.
00:30:06 --> 00:30:14 That's crazy. Yeah, but you're right Every time Trump, something is not going
00:30:14 --> 00:30:18 his way There's always something that comes up that, you know, says,
00:30:19 --> 00:30:25 Let's look the other way, you know So he got away with it And then,
00:30:25 --> 00:30:33 like I said, gas prices jumped 30 cents over the last couple days Yeah, sure You know,
00:30:34 --> 00:30:37 well, it's been over four years since we've been at $4 dollars,
00:30:38 --> 00:30:42 Something like that. Yeah, it's only been a minute. Yeah, it's been a minute.
00:30:43 --> 00:30:47 But I'm sure we're going to find out more and more about what happened.
00:30:49 --> 00:30:53 But you guys who are fans of late night TV, please do me a favor.
00:30:54 --> 00:31:00 Go ahead and check Jimmy Kimmel's monologue last night.
00:31:00 --> 00:31:07 Because Jimmy Kimmel made a joke about Melania a couple days before that event happened.
00:31:07 --> 00:31:10 Talking about that she was sitting
00:31:10 --> 00:31:14 there like she was about to be a future widower or something like that.
00:31:14 --> 00:31:19 A widow, a future widow looking at it. And then all of a sudden this happens.
00:31:19 --> 00:31:24 And of course, you know, she banded Kimmel saying he should be fired and all of this stuff.
00:31:25 --> 00:31:33 But he was going crazy because, you know, Trump has been trying to get rid of him for a while.
00:31:33 --> 00:31:37 I like Kimmel because Kimmel ain't scared. He won't back down from him.
00:31:38 --> 00:31:42 You know, so if y'all get a chance, check that out, that monologue.
00:31:42 --> 00:31:43 I thought he was right on point.
00:31:44 --> 00:31:50 So, but I'm sure there's going to be more to come out. And I bet you will never
00:31:50 --> 00:31:51 hear that guy's name again.
00:31:52 --> 00:31:56 How much you want to have heard about that? Yeah, I mean, as soon as this died
00:31:56 --> 00:31:58 down the next week, we probably won't hear much about him.
00:31:59 --> 00:32:02 Have we heard anything else about the guy that shot?
00:32:04 --> 00:32:08 The first person to try to take Trump out? Have we heard any more about him?
00:32:08 --> 00:32:11 I mean, they said they, fingers crossed, killed him.
00:32:12 --> 00:32:16 Yeah, well. Or he killed himself, one of them. Yeah, well, I still believe the
00:32:16 --> 00:32:18 guy is still living. Yeah.
00:32:18 --> 00:32:22 Yeah, and they don't talk about him at all.
00:32:22 --> 00:32:27 Like, he never existed. I'm telling you, I think the guy is still living.
00:32:27 --> 00:32:33 And I heard something, too, where it's like, okay. They said Trump has had the
00:32:33 --> 00:32:36 most assassination attempts of any president.
00:32:38 --> 00:32:41 Yeah, yeah, yeah, well, I mean. That's interesting, too.
00:32:41 --> 00:32:46 That's interesting, too. So that should tell the world a lot.
00:32:46 --> 00:32:49 But then, you know, whatever.
00:32:50 --> 00:32:56 I can't. I can't with him. Yeah. But anyway, we'll move on to our next story. Go ahead, Ben.
00:32:57 --> 00:33:01 Well, Dave, I'm going to steal some of your words.
00:33:01 --> 00:33:06 Unless you've been sleeping under a rock, you have probably been.
00:33:06 --> 00:33:12 And if you are on social media, you have been inundated with Megan Thee Stallion
00:33:12 --> 00:33:20 memes, comment, reaction videos, maybe even hate at Klay Thompson.
00:33:20 --> 00:33:24 So over the weekend, I don't know which day it was, maybe Saturday or Sunday,
00:33:24 --> 00:33:32 apparently Megan Thee Stallion posted something on her IG story saying that Clay Thompson,
00:33:32 --> 00:33:37 her boyfriend of, I guess, just a little over a year basketball player for the
00:33:37 --> 00:33:40 Dallas Mavericks, was a cheater.
00:33:40 --> 00:33:44 And she kind of left it vague, but it definitely talked about cheating.
00:33:46 --> 00:33:51 And, Dave, the internet has gone in. Dave, I didn't know there were this many
00:33:51 --> 00:33:55 people who ride or died so hard for Megan Thee Stallion.
00:33:56 --> 00:34:00 You know, she has her own legion, the hotties. So, you know,
00:34:00 --> 00:34:03 she's like Nikki and Beyonce.
00:34:03 --> 00:34:06 They got their own, you know, their whole troops, you know.
00:34:07 --> 00:34:14 But Dave, I'll say women all over the United States have been uniting in the,
00:34:15 --> 00:34:18 the, uh, disgracing of Klay Thompson.
00:34:18 --> 00:34:20 Dave, I heard he's been getting death threats.
00:34:21 --> 00:34:25 People are threatening to, I guess, take back his ACL.
00:34:26 --> 00:34:30 You know, they're threatening not to go to the games. I mean, like,
00:34:31 --> 00:34:35 Dave, I don't know if I've seen this much uproar.
00:34:36 --> 00:34:43 Over a man doing something terrible, you know, to a woman since, I mean,
00:34:44 --> 00:34:49 David, can you think of a situation where it's just been like a personal dating
00:34:49 --> 00:34:52 relationship where one man has, I guess,
00:34:52 --> 00:34:59 cheated or, you know, done something this devastating that women have united
00:34:59 --> 00:35:04 of all colors, all nationalities, all across the United States?
00:35:04 --> 00:35:15 Well it's funny because I don't even think got this much and he shot her you
00:35:15 --> 00:35:19 know what I mean I think what it was.
00:35:22 --> 00:35:26 The way that Meg came out and put it, and see, you know, because,
00:35:26 --> 00:35:31 you know, it made it look like they were about to get married because he bought
00:35:31 --> 00:35:33 a boat. He named the boat after her.
00:35:34 --> 00:35:39 They just recently bought some kind of crib together.
00:35:40 --> 00:35:45 And then they also, it was something else they got together.
00:35:45 --> 00:35:50 So, I mean, they've been doing things as a couple all this time.
00:35:50 --> 00:35:54 And they had been very visible and so forth and so forth.
00:35:54 --> 00:36:00 For her to come out and say that and saying that he had been messing around
00:36:00 --> 00:36:04 and then all of a sudden they throw the WNBA player in there,
00:36:04 --> 00:36:09 Lexi Brown, whose father used to play for the Celtics, Dee Brown.
00:36:10 --> 00:36:14 Oh, is that her? Remember the guy who used to pump up his sneakers back in the day?
00:36:15 --> 00:36:18 Yeah, that's her father. I didn't know that. Yeah.
00:36:19 --> 00:36:22 You know, And, you know, she's already come out and made a statement.
00:36:22 --> 00:36:25 She said, I don't know why they put me in this, but she said,
00:36:25 --> 00:36:26 I ain't got nothing to do with this.
00:36:27 --> 00:36:31 She said, I, she said, it's not true. So don't, so far, the only person that
00:36:31 --> 00:36:35 hasn't said anything is Clay. You know, Clay hasn't said anything yet.
00:36:36 --> 00:36:40 But, you know, but she was up there saying that, you know, the main thing that
00:36:40 --> 00:36:44 got her upset was the fact that after all they've been doing over the last year,
00:36:45 --> 00:36:52 this dude comes out and says he wants to have he don't think he can be in a
00:36:52 --> 00:36:58 monogamous relationship well now when did this come out is this after yeah this
00:36:58 --> 00:37:01 was part of the reason this is part of what.
00:37:02 --> 00:37:08 Sent her off because he said that he didn't think he could be in a monogamous
00:37:08 --> 00:37:13 relationship meaning you know so as far as getting married or anything like
00:37:13 --> 00:37:17 that if he got married she was not to accept the fact that he might see other people.
00:37:19 --> 00:37:24 And that's what he was saying, that he's not ready to commit to just seeing her.
00:37:24 --> 00:37:29 And that's why she went off, supposedly. But during the season,
00:37:30 --> 00:37:32 you know, his team didn't make the playoffs.
00:37:33 --> 00:37:38 So he was very moody. He wasn't playing well, you know.
00:37:39 --> 00:37:46 And he was upset that he was so mad with himself for taking that,
00:37:46 --> 00:37:48 you know, going there to that particular team.
00:37:49 --> 00:37:55 Because he wished that he stayed in Golden State with the rest of the guys and so forth.
00:37:55 --> 00:38:01 So she said that she had to deal with his mood swings, and then apparently they
00:38:01 --> 00:38:07 said that she's saying that he was seeing at least one other woman.
00:38:09 --> 00:38:15 So, you know, and you hate to see when, you know, a high-profile couple go through this.
00:38:15 --> 00:38:23 Like you know you imagine if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey break up oh man
00:38:23 --> 00:38:25 you know what's gonna happen there,
00:38:26 --> 00:38:31 and you know she'll write a whole album about it I'm gonna say a fire Taylor
00:38:31 --> 00:38:36 Swift album for all her yeah,
00:38:37 --> 00:38:44 that's right all the Swifties waiting for that music waiting for that music
00:38:44 --> 00:38:49 and she'll make a ton of money off of it. So I don't know.
00:38:50 --> 00:38:53 I think more is going to come. I'm sure more is going to come out.
00:38:54 --> 00:38:58 And even if this was one of those things, like, okay, baby, I made a mistake.
00:38:58 --> 00:39:03 I don't want to break up. Can we make this work? You can't do that now.
00:39:04 --> 00:39:08 Too much has happened. Yeah. Now every woman, you know what?
00:39:08 --> 00:39:13 Women who didn't even know who you were. And it's so funny when I hear her say,
00:39:13 --> 00:39:18 Have you seen people say, I didn't even know who Klay Thompson was before Megan Thee Stallion?
00:39:19 --> 00:39:24 I love what other people say. I love the people say, if mama called him Clay,
00:39:24 --> 00:39:25 I'm going to call him Clay.
00:39:25 --> 00:39:28 You know, from coming to America, you know.
00:39:30 --> 00:39:33 It's, but you know, there's a lot of men dragging him too, Leonard.
00:39:34 --> 00:39:37 Yeah, no. Like, a lot of men are dragging, but like, you had Megan,
00:39:37 --> 00:39:41 the stallion. How, how are you going to drop the bag?
00:39:41 --> 00:39:45 But you know, the other half of the men are dragging him for another reason.
00:39:45 --> 00:39:49 Because the other half of the men are like, man, I can't even go home now.
00:39:49 --> 00:39:53 Because now my wife is, you know, she's trying to lock me out the house.
00:39:54 --> 00:39:57 She, you know, she asking me questions, you know.
00:39:58 --> 00:40:02 Look, the internet has been undefeated the last couple days because the comments
00:40:02 --> 00:40:06 and the memes are out of pocket, man. They really are.
00:40:07 --> 00:40:13 You know, I mean, you know, people, people, you know, that wasn't me.
00:40:13 --> 00:40:14 That was him. I didn't do that.
00:40:14 --> 00:40:20 But, yeah, but you like him. You watch his teams. You rooted for him, so you just like him.
00:40:22 --> 00:40:24 So all men are like Klay Thompson now.
00:40:26 --> 00:40:30 I don't know. We don't know how this is going to turn out, but it doesn't look
00:40:30 --> 00:40:33 like it's going to get any better for Klay Thompson.
00:40:33 --> 00:40:37 And he might well just move to China.
00:40:38 --> 00:40:43 That's probably where he should move to. Well, Dave, I'm wondering because the
00:40:43 --> 00:40:45 internet is pretty powerful.
00:40:46 --> 00:40:50 Could this ruin his career, his basketball career?
00:40:51 --> 00:40:56 He might be done in Dallas because keep in mind, she's from Houston. Yeah.
00:40:57 --> 00:41:02 And, you know, them people say, oh, he might as well not even come back to Texas.
00:41:02 --> 00:41:07 Yeah. But, you know, also it's kind of like as a team owner.
00:41:07 --> 00:41:10 So, I mean, and correct me if I'm wrong, you know more than I do.
00:41:11 --> 00:41:16 Is he still a star in Dallas, or is he kind of like a falling star?
00:41:16 --> 00:41:20 He's a falling star. He didn't shoot well this year.
00:41:21 --> 00:41:28 When they picked him up, he has not performed the way they thought he was going
00:41:28 --> 00:41:30 to perform. He's underperformed.
00:41:31 --> 00:41:34 He's had good gains. He just hasn't been consistently good.
00:41:35 --> 00:41:38 Yeah. So the reason I say that is kind of like, as an owner,
00:41:38 --> 00:41:42 as a manager, do you want all this hate? You know what I mean?
00:41:43 --> 00:41:47 It's kind of like, you know, I mean, I could see if he was starring,
00:41:47 --> 00:41:50 performing, then you're like, okay, like the good with the bad.
00:41:50 --> 00:41:56 But if it's bad with the bad, and it's so public, you know, I don't know.
00:41:57 --> 00:41:59 Yeah. And he's...
00:42:01 --> 00:42:08 I was going to say on top of it, too, if he's having all this anxiety and depression,
00:42:08 --> 00:42:14 oh, man, he's probably home now drinking and smoking and gambling.
00:42:16 --> 00:42:20 Well, if you're a person who ever paid attention to Clay Thompson,
00:42:20 --> 00:42:23 he always looked like he's brooding all the time.
00:42:23 --> 00:42:29 He never looked happy or whatever. Now, with Meg, he did look like he was loosening
00:42:29 --> 00:42:30 up a little bit and whatever.
00:42:31 --> 00:42:36 But he just, like, keep in mind, he played with Steph Curry. Yeah.
00:42:37 --> 00:42:40 And, of course, everybody loves Steph Curry, you know, because he seemed like
00:42:40 --> 00:42:44 a big kid, you know what I mean? You know, and he's everywhere.
00:42:44 --> 00:42:51 And people can relate to him. Well, I'm sure Clay probably had a hard time playing,
00:42:51 --> 00:42:56 you know, being around him because, you know, he was Mr. Personality, you know.
00:42:57 --> 00:43:02 Clay's definitely not that. And Clay was like light skin number two.
00:43:02 --> 00:43:04 Yeah, that's right. Yeah.
00:43:05 --> 00:43:13 You know, so it's, you know, like Jay-Z once said, it's a hard knock to like, you know? Yeah.
00:43:14 --> 00:43:17 Yeah. So I guess we'll find out what's going to happen between them two,
00:43:18 --> 00:43:24 if anything, or how bad, how worse things may get, because they could get even
00:43:24 --> 00:43:25 worse than what they are now.
00:43:26 --> 00:43:31 Right. And it's bad enough that Megan announced today that she's going to step
00:43:31 --> 00:43:36 away from the Broadway show, the Moulin Rouge that she was doing,
00:43:36 --> 00:43:39 which he had been getting great reviews for.
00:43:39 --> 00:43:45 And because he needed to, you know, deal with her grief and,
00:43:45 --> 00:43:50 you know, everything else she's going through. So, you know, so.
00:43:50 --> 00:43:57 So, well, we hope and wish both of these people the best. and play.
00:43:58 --> 00:44:02 Damn, man. That's all I got to say.
00:44:03 --> 00:44:11 Yeah, okay. I will be working on my game a lot this summer. You know, so. All right.
00:44:12 --> 00:44:17 Moving on to our next story. I came across this. I thought it was interesting.
00:44:17 --> 00:44:21 I'm so glad that I see one particular place on here.
00:44:22 --> 00:44:29 So I'm glad for that, you know. But this is a story about the most dangerous
00:44:29 --> 00:44:34 state for kids in the year 2026.
00:44:35 --> 00:44:39 So this is probably, this is what they're saying, the worst dangerous states
00:44:39 --> 00:44:45 for your kids as far as safety risks and stuff like that.
00:44:45 --> 00:44:51 And these are the top 10 states that they're saying would be dangerous for the kids.
00:44:51 --> 00:44:56 It says a new study has identified the states where children face the greatest
00:44:56 --> 00:45:02 safety risks, and findings may surprise parents in some unexpected corners of the country.
00:45:02 --> 00:45:09 The April 26th, a 2026 report conducted by iSharing,
00:45:10 --> 00:45:17 a family location tracking app with over 60 million downloads examined data across all 50 states.
00:45:18 --> 00:45:23 Research has pulled figures from six categories, missing children,
00:45:23 --> 00:45:31 aggravated assault, rape, kidnapping, school bus fatal crashes, and school shootings.
00:45:32 --> 00:45:41 And they calculated each state's numbers as incidents per 100 residents for a fair comparison.
00:45:42 --> 00:45:43 Okay.
00:45:45 --> 00:45:51 Do you think you can guess what the number one spot was? Florida. Nope. California.
00:45:52 --> 00:45:54 Nope. Texas.
00:45:55 --> 00:45:59 Nope. And you want to, oh, hey, hold on. Before you say anything else,
00:46:00 --> 00:46:05 none of those are on the list. None of those are on the list. Georgia.
00:46:06 --> 00:46:11 Nope. Oh, wow. So, and those are the states that you were, like,
00:46:11 --> 00:46:13 they came to your head first.
00:46:13 --> 00:46:16 Would probably come to most people's head, but none of them are on the list.
00:46:18 --> 00:46:24 Arizona. Nope. Oh, okay. Well, I mean, other than that, they'd all be crapshoots.
00:46:24 --> 00:46:28 Okay. Well, here you go. The number one state.
00:46:29 --> 00:46:32 Hold on. I'm going to start with number 10. Let's work our way down.
00:46:33 --> 00:46:35 Okay. Do you want to go? Okay. Yeah, that's right. I normally do that anyway.
00:46:36 --> 00:46:40 So let me go to the back here. Okay. Hold on.
00:46:41 --> 00:46:53 Okay, so, well, before I say this, believe it or not, Maine was the safest state for kids.
00:46:55 --> 00:46:59 Well, and I'm sorry, when we say safe, what are we talking about safe?
00:46:59 --> 00:47:06 Maine stood as the opposite end of the spectrum recording just 235 yearly incidents
00:47:06 --> 00:47:09 to earn the safest state for children.
00:47:09 --> 00:47:14 Okay, that makes sense? Everybody else has way more.
00:47:15 --> 00:47:21 Okay, here we go. Number 10, South Carolina.
00:47:21 --> 00:47:24 Number 9, Colorado.
00:47:25 --> 00:47:28 Number 8, Oklahoma.
00:47:29 --> 00:47:35 Number 7, Michigan. I'm a little surprised about Michigan with,
00:47:35 --> 00:47:41 you know, like Flint, all the issues they had in Flint and Detroit.
00:47:41 --> 00:47:46 But they said Michigan. Number six, Missouri. Let me see.
00:47:47 --> 00:47:49 New Mexico was number five.
00:47:50 --> 00:47:56 Kansas was number four. And they said Kansas ranked fourth, distinguished by
00:47:56 --> 00:48:03 nearly 30 school shootings and more than 300 reported child abductions.
00:48:03 --> 00:48:05 Wow. Whew.
00:48:07 --> 00:48:12 Number three was Arkansas. Arkansas
00:48:12 --> 00:48:20 documented over 3 cases despite a population of roughly 3 million with close
00:48:20 --> 00:48:28 to 1 rape reports involving children compounding an already troubling profile.
00:48:28 --> 00:48:36 They said it was 500 kidnappings, 6 aggravated assaults. Wow.
00:48:38 --> 00:48:46 Okay so that was number three i said yeah okay number two oh it was a tie it
00:48:46 --> 00:48:53 was a tie for number two tennessee and arkansas oh wow yeah tennessee and arkansas.
00:48:58 --> 00:49:06 It said Tennessee law the highest raw total among the top five with over 8,
00:49:07 --> 00:49:13 cases affecting minors including more than 6 okay they're the ones that
00:49:13 --> 00:49:15 had 6 aggravating assaults okay.
00:49:18 --> 00:49:27 Here's the surprise the number one state I'm gonna read what makes them number
00:49:27 --> 00:49:28 one and then I'll tell you the name,
00:49:30 --> 00:49:35 the top spot as the most dangerous state for children, posting an incident rate
00:49:35 --> 00:49:42 of 116, more than seven times higher than the safest regions.
00:49:42 --> 00:49:45 Despite a population of just over 1 million,
00:49:46 --> 00:49:53 the state recorded more than 1 cases involving minors in a single year with
00:49:53 --> 00:49:57 aggravated assaults accounting for the bulk,
00:49:57 --> 00:50:02 including nearly 600 attacks on teenagers between the ages of 10 and 19.
00:50:04 --> 00:50:11 That state is Montana. Damn. Never would have guessed. Never would have guessed that, right?
00:50:13 --> 00:50:18 Nope. Never would have guessed that. It doesn't seem like anybody lives in Montana. You know?
00:50:20 --> 00:50:22 What's the capital of Montana?
00:50:23 --> 00:50:27 What the hell if I know? Wait, hold on. What's that? Of course,
00:50:27 --> 00:50:29 we used to know all of it. Huh?
00:50:30 --> 00:50:33 No, I was going to say something, but I think that's Wisconsin.
00:50:33 --> 00:50:39 I know. I'm thinking about Idaho. I'm thinking about Des Moines, Iowa.
00:50:39 --> 00:50:42 Wait, Montana. Is it the Duke?
00:50:43 --> 00:50:46 The what? The Duke? That don't even sound right.
00:50:47 --> 00:50:51 All right, look it up. Let's see. Let's see. Helena.
00:50:52 --> 00:50:55 Helena. Okay. Helena. Elena. Okay.
00:50:57 --> 00:51:01 I've never even heard that recently. Dubuque? No, no. Helena.
00:51:02 --> 00:51:06 Helena? Oh. Like, you know, sometimes someone tell you the Capitol,
00:51:06 --> 00:51:08 you'd be like, oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
00:51:09 --> 00:51:11 I read Helena. I was like, really? Okay.
00:51:12 --> 00:51:15 Helena. Good Lord. I haven't heard that since high school, I don't think.
00:51:15 --> 00:51:17 Who talks about Montana?
00:51:17 --> 00:51:21 Yeah. No, I don't. Maybe Kanye. You know, your mom Kanye moved out there and
00:51:21 --> 00:51:25 bought all that land. Oh, yeah. You know who else had a bunch of land in Montana?
00:51:26 --> 00:51:33 Bill Jackson, the former Bulls. Yeah, that's where he lived there during the offseason.
00:51:33 --> 00:51:35 Yeah. Yeah, because...
00:51:37 --> 00:51:43 He talked about how when he took over as the coach of the Lakers,
00:51:43 --> 00:51:47 one of the reasons that he went to the Lakers is because he brought Shaq out to his lake.
00:51:48 --> 00:51:52 He had a whole lake at this property that belonged to him.
00:51:53 --> 00:51:57 And Shaq came out and talked to him.
00:51:57 --> 00:52:07 And Shaq, it's a famous story where Phil was upset with Shaq because Shaq wasn't
00:52:07 --> 00:52:09 playing as well as he should have been playing.
00:52:10 --> 00:52:13 And he was thinking about leaving. That's what it was. He was already coaching
00:52:13 --> 00:52:15 the Lakers. He was thinking about leaving.
00:52:16 --> 00:52:19 And Shaq came out there and said, I'll do anything that you ask me to do.
00:52:19 --> 00:52:22 Just don't leave and make me better.
00:52:22 --> 00:52:26 Because he was telling Shaq, he always felt Shaq could be the best player in the NBA.
00:52:27 --> 00:52:31 And so Phil said, you're going to do everything I tell you to do. And Shaq said, yes.
00:52:31 --> 00:52:36 And it started right there at that late because Phil had him doing stuff and
00:52:36 --> 00:52:37 made him get in the water.
00:52:38 --> 00:52:40 I remember he told him to be out there like 6-8.
00:52:40 --> 00:52:44 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that was a true story. It happened.
00:52:44 --> 00:52:50 And that year, Shaq was the best player in the league. He won the MVP in the
00:52:50 --> 00:52:51 championship that year. Right.
00:52:52 --> 00:52:56 Yeah, so, yeah. So, but that was in Montana.
00:52:57 --> 00:53:00 So, all right. Well, that's interesting.
00:53:00 --> 00:53:05 I mean, and notice, like I said, Probably the most popular state in that list
00:53:05 --> 00:53:11 probably would be, what, Tennessee, maybe? Yeah.
00:53:12 --> 00:53:16 South Carolina is pretty popular, I guess, right? I say Tennessee,
00:53:16 --> 00:53:18 think about Memphis, Nashville.
00:53:18 --> 00:53:22 Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of greatโ€”oh, Michigan. We can't forget about Michigan.
00:53:23 --> 00:53:28 Okay, right. Yeah, but there's no New York. There's no California. There's no Texas.
00:53:29 --> 00:53:30 There's no Florida.
00:53:31 --> 00:53:32 What other states?
00:53:34 --> 00:53:38 So Louisiana, you know, those types of states that we would expect to see on
00:53:38 --> 00:53:40 a list like this, we don't.
00:53:42 --> 00:53:45 So I just thought that was interesting. But this also says a lot,
00:53:45 --> 00:53:51 parents especially, you got to know what your children are doing or at least try to.
00:53:52 --> 00:53:54 They're not going to tell you everything. They're not going to tell you what's
00:53:54 --> 00:53:56 going on, especially if you have school-aged kids.
00:53:56 --> 00:54:03 But you gotta have, you know, now with all the tracking devices that we have
00:54:03 --> 00:54:09 now and location and everybody's doing each other's location,
00:54:09 --> 00:54:11 you gotta know where your children are.
00:54:11 --> 00:54:16 You gotta know what they're doing because this kind of stuff is real.
00:54:16 --> 00:54:21 It's real. And it's so easy for one of these children to get manipulated in
00:54:21 --> 00:54:23 some kind of way, you know?
00:54:24 --> 00:54:28 So I thought that was a good story, kind of letting people know,
00:54:29 --> 00:54:33 hey, it is dangerous out here in these streets, especially we hear so much about
00:54:33 --> 00:54:39 sex trafficking and child molestation and all of that stuff. So, yeah.
00:54:39 --> 00:54:44 Yeah. So. All right. That brings us to Leonard's favorite part of the show.
00:54:45 --> 00:54:49 Oh, it's over. OK. All right. Let me play this theme.
00:54:50 --> 00:54:55 No, no, no. Hold on. Hold on. I got it. We got to get DJ Tim Dobbs on here today.
00:54:56 --> 00:55:01 No, no, no. Hold on. We got to do your favorite part of the show first. And that's not it.
00:55:02 --> 00:55:04 It's Dave's Corner, which is your favorite part of the show.
00:55:04 --> 00:55:06 Don't try to act like it's not.
00:55:06 --> 00:55:13 But, you know, since we were talking about Clay and Megan, I thought this was...
00:55:14 --> 00:55:18 Kind of apropos to bring up. So I came across this thing.
00:55:18 --> 00:55:26 It says math, M-A-T-H, best pickup lines.
00:55:27 --> 00:55:32 So using math as a backdrop, here are some of the best pickup lines.
00:55:32 --> 00:55:34 Hold on, are you saying math, M-A-T-H?
00:55:34 --> 00:55:36 M-A-T-H, yep.
00:55:37 --> 00:55:44 Okay. Okay, so using math as part of the pickup line. Here you go.
00:55:47 --> 00:55:51 Kind of highlighted a few. Okay, here you go.
00:55:51 --> 00:55:57 Are you good at math? Can you help me solve for X?
00:55:59 --> 00:56:01 X equals your number.
00:56:02 --> 00:56:06 So they got the letter X out there and they said, okay, you need to help me
00:56:06 --> 00:56:09 solve what X is. And then, of course, X is your phone number.
00:56:09 --> 00:56:12 Okay. Do I need to throw some tomatoes or some eggs?
00:56:13 --> 00:56:18 That was the first one, man. Just count it. Okay. That was the first one. Okay.
00:56:19 --> 00:56:22 All right. Another one. I heard you like math.
00:56:23 --> 00:56:29 So what is the S-U-M of U, the letter U, in me?
00:56:30 --> 00:56:34 Okay. I like that one. Okay. There you go. All right.
00:56:35 --> 00:56:45 Why don't you be the numerator and I be the denominator and both of us reduce to the simplest forms?
00:56:48 --> 00:56:51 They, you know, unfortunately, nowadays, we got to get some,
00:56:51 --> 00:56:55 you got to say that to a girl. She's not going to know what numerator or denominator mean.
00:56:56 --> 00:57:01 I thought that was cute, though. I like that, though. Okay. Okay, here's another one.
00:57:02 --> 00:57:10 Hi, I hear you're pretty good at algebra. Will you replace my ex without asking why?
00:57:11 --> 00:57:12 The letter Y.
00:57:13 --> 00:57:17 I feel like you got to ask some nerdy, well, not nerdy, but you.
00:57:19 --> 00:57:22 It's a shame now because so many people are bad with math. They ain't going
00:57:22 --> 00:57:26 to get it. They don't, they don't get the joke and they probably won't get that, you know?
00:57:26 --> 00:57:29 So, all right, here you go.
00:57:30 --> 00:57:36 I like fractions. Do you want, do you want to do something with me?
00:57:37 --> 00:57:42 I am like a numerator because I like to be on top.
00:57:47 --> 00:57:50 You better choose wisely Who you say that to,
00:57:53 --> 00:57:59 Yeah I know these days I guess so Here's another one I was supposed to solve
00:57:59 --> 00:58:05 For the letter X I am so glad that I found The letter U instead,
00:58:06 --> 00:58:14 Okay That one's a go Okay alright I got two more for you Well, actually, three more.
00:58:15 --> 00:58:18 I'd like to be your math tutor for tonight.
00:58:18 --> 00:58:21 So this is what we're going to do. We're going to add a bed,
00:58:22 --> 00:58:26 subtract your clothes, divide your legs, and multiply.
00:58:30 --> 00:58:33 Again, you got to choose the right one to say that, too. Yeah,
00:58:33 --> 00:58:35 I know, because otherwise you're going to end up getting smacked.
00:58:37 --> 00:58:39 Okay. Do you like math?
00:58:40 --> 00:58:46 No. Me neither. In fact, the only numbers I care about is yours.
00:58:47 --> 00:58:51 I didn't like that. I mean, that was okay. That is pretty cool.
00:58:51 --> 00:58:59 You know, Dave, I feel like this so-called woman has to be a little bit,
00:58:59 --> 00:59:03 you know, it's like, you know, women will laugh at your corny jokes if they like you.
00:59:04 --> 00:59:07 But if they don't, they may roast you, you know what I mean?
00:59:08 --> 00:59:13 Yeah, well, that's true. Well, you know, nowadays, it seems like women do like corny jokes.
00:59:14 --> 00:59:19 Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Here's the last one. Are you the square root of 100?
00:59:20 --> 00:59:24 Because you are a solid 10, but too good to be real.
00:59:26 --> 00:59:27 A corny.
00:59:31 --> 00:59:37 Okay, all right, well. But this is a good way to get your kids to be interested
00:59:37 --> 00:59:43 in math, by throwing these lines at the person that they want to call them at, you know.
00:59:43 --> 00:59:46 Here you go. You know, so...
00:59:47 --> 00:59:52 Those are my math pickup lines there. You know, don't use them all.
00:59:52 --> 00:59:55 I mean, you know, well, I guess you can't use them. I guess you can't use them.
00:59:55 --> 00:59:59 You can give them to you. Look, you give them to you some young kid and go out
00:59:59 --> 01:00:04 there and tell them, you know, they'll probably mess up the joke and say, I need your wine.
01:00:05 --> 01:00:13 So, yeah, it'll be like, I need your wine so I can get on top of something crazy. Oh, man.
01:00:14 --> 01:00:19 And anyway, folks, well, there you have it. But that's our show for tonight.
01:00:20 --> 01:00:25 We really appreciate you guys coming out and hanging out with us and listening.
01:00:25 --> 01:00:30 Anything you want to add? Yeah. To all the ladies out there,
01:00:30 --> 01:00:34 I just want to say, don't be making your man sleep in the doghouse this week.
01:00:35 --> 01:00:41 You know, don't be burning his ear about how bad men are and she was a good woman.
01:00:41 --> 01:00:45 You know, just let, you know, sometimes you got to let the celebrities do what
01:00:45 --> 01:00:49 the celebrities do. Yeah. And, you know, you do what you do.
01:00:50 --> 01:00:56 Yeah. I mean, you know, after all, we can only look at their lives. We got to live ours.
01:00:56 --> 01:01:01 You know what I mean? Yeah. So, but I'm with you on that, man.
01:01:01 --> 01:01:04 I get it. I get it. So, all right.
01:01:04 --> 01:01:08 All right, guys. Well, we're going to say good night. We'll talk to you next
01:01:08 --> 01:01:10 Tuesday. Have a good evening.
01:01:25 --> 01:01:28 With your host, Dave and Lynn.
