00:01:24 --> 00:01:29 Good, Dave. Everything is good. This is Leonard Young, CEO of National Black
00:01:29 --> 00:01:36 Guide, DelawareBlack.com, Black Media Specialist, all-around good guy. How's it going, Dave?
00:01:37 --> 00:01:41 How's it going, sir? Can't complain. You know, it's another week.
00:01:41 --> 00:01:46 You know, working towards the end of the year now, man. Nine months in.
00:01:47 --> 00:01:50 Man, in two months, we'll be starting our fifth year of this show,
00:01:51 --> 00:01:52 man. I mean, you know, it's crazy.
00:01:53 --> 00:01:58 Yeah, it's really crazy. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's crazy that I've been able
00:01:58 --> 00:02:04 to hold you to be dependable for all these years and, you know, just kind of, you know,
00:02:04 --> 00:02:10 be the backbone of the podcast and make sure everything goes well. You know, tough work.
00:02:11 --> 00:02:14 I know. I know. I know all about it. I thank God that, you know,
00:02:16 --> 00:02:18 you're so accountable, you know.
00:02:19 --> 00:02:21 So I appreciate you for that.
00:02:21 --> 00:02:28 So, but, yeah, it's, it's, you're going, it's closing with a quickness.
00:02:31 --> 00:02:34 Kids are back in school. Football season has started.
00:02:35 --> 00:02:38 Eagles won the first game of the season against the Cowboys,
00:02:38 --> 00:02:44 you know, last week and all is great in the world, you know?
00:02:44 --> 00:02:45 So that's all that matters.
00:02:46 --> 00:02:50 So, man, that football season came around real quick, too. It seemed like crazy.
00:02:51 --> 00:03:00 I even watched Muhammad Maddo get beat by Colorado's Deion Sanders team on Saturday.
00:03:00 --> 00:03:05 They played Colorado out in Colorado, and I was like, look at Delaware on TV
00:03:05 --> 00:03:11 making the big time. And yeah, so that's, you know, that was pretty cool.
00:03:11 --> 00:03:14 So did you do anything exciting over the weekend?
00:03:16 --> 00:03:20 No, I didn't. This was probably the first weekend where I got to,
00:03:21 --> 00:03:25 or I think I did a little more relaxing than working.
00:03:25 --> 00:03:29 So I'm not complaining and I can't even remember what I did and didn't do,
00:03:29 --> 00:03:33 but I didn't, I feel like I didn't do as much as I normally do.
00:03:33 --> 00:03:40 So I'm not upset at all. So, well, you know, I guess, you know,
00:03:40 --> 00:03:43 with the season, we're ready to change and everything.
00:03:45 --> 00:03:50 You, I know when we talked about it last year, we were ready to shut down your
00:03:50 --> 00:03:52 pool. Did you get your pool shut down and everything?
00:03:52 --> 00:03:56 No, but we're very close. We are in the works for shutting that pool down.
00:03:57 --> 00:03:58 So probably within the next week or so.
00:03:59 --> 00:04:04 Are people still trying to get in it? No. And I already knew that happened because
00:04:04 --> 00:04:08 all the years, before, right after Labor Day, just because the weather was nice,
00:04:08 --> 00:04:10 we were thinking people would still want to get in? Nope.
00:04:11 --> 00:04:14 I mean, it's almost like clockwork. After Labor Day, people don't even think
00:04:14 --> 00:04:18 about it anymore. Okay. Yeah. Okay.
00:04:19 --> 00:04:22 And the weather's been kind of weird anyway, too. So.
00:04:24 --> 00:04:32 Yeah. All right. Well, I guess we got a few things to talk about today for you guys. And...
00:04:32 --> 00:04:38 I thought this first story would fit in pretty well since you're an entrepreneur yourself.
00:04:39 --> 00:04:46 But this one is a story about, it says, baby, it's time for you to get a job.
00:04:47 --> 00:04:52 This is from our favorite entrepreneur, Ms. Tabitha Brown.
00:04:53 --> 00:04:59 Tough love for the entrepreneur's spark debate online. So she likes to keep
00:04:59 --> 00:05:00 herself in the news from time to time.
00:05:01 --> 00:05:09 So Ms. Tavis Brown, also known as Auntie Tav, ruffled some feathers on social
00:05:09 --> 00:05:13 media this week while offering advice to entrepreneurs.
00:05:14 --> 00:05:19 Earlier this week, the actress shared a video on social media.
00:05:19 --> 00:05:23 This is not to discourage you, she said in the video.
00:05:25 --> 00:05:30 Entrepreneurialship is not for everybody. That doesn't mean it's not for you,
00:05:30 --> 00:05:34 but right now, these last few months, few years, baby,
00:05:35 --> 00:05:40 it ain't been working for you, and you're doing a lot of robbing Peter to pay
00:05:40 --> 00:05:43 Paul. It's time for you to get a job.
00:05:43 --> 00:05:48 I said, baby, ain't a thing wrong with getting a job for a little while.
00:05:48 --> 00:05:54 You can have a job while you work on your thing. Though well-intentioned,
00:05:54 --> 00:05:59 Brown's PSA stuck a nerve with some social media users.
00:06:00 --> 00:06:06 Many found her message to be insensitive and tone-deaf to the reality of the
00:06:06 --> 00:06:12 current job market between unemployed individuals.
00:06:14 --> 00:06:20 It says a number of unemployed individuals has surpassed the number of job openings,
00:06:20 --> 00:06:22 creating a tough job market.
00:06:22 --> 00:06:27 Additionally, studies have shown that black workers, especially black women,
00:06:28 --> 00:06:36 have forced the most job losses, contributing to the climbing black unemployment rate under Trump.
00:06:37 --> 00:06:40 Tab wasn't talking to people currently looking for work.
00:06:40 --> 00:06:45 No, she was telling people to become the people looking for work.
00:06:45 --> 00:06:50 One user wrote on threads criticizing Brown's post.
00:06:50 --> 00:06:55 She said, you're not doing well at digital entrepreneurship.
00:06:55 --> 00:07:03 So go compete with the people who had been job searching for two years in a
00:07:03 --> 00:07:10 sorry market. Join all the federal employees who just lost their jobs.
00:07:11 --> 00:07:18 Dust off your resume with four-year gaps on it and spend two years looking for a nine-to-five.
00:07:19 --> 00:07:24 That's insensitive at best, stupid at worst. I'm going to stop right there.
00:07:25 --> 00:07:30 Now, of course, if you've been an entrepreneur for about three or four years,
00:07:31 --> 00:07:35 and you go to look for a job, you know, and you put a resume together,
00:07:35 --> 00:07:39 you're going to have a gap. You're going to have a couple of gaps on there.
00:07:39 --> 00:07:45 When you do that, of course, to employers, it makes it hard for employers to
00:07:45 --> 00:07:52 be able to look at you seriously if you haven't been on the job market,
00:07:52 --> 00:07:56 in the job working field for a while.
00:07:56 --> 00:08:00 Now, you've been doing this for a long time. You've been an entrepreneur for a long time.
00:08:00 --> 00:08:07 And the last time you actually worked a nine to five has been a moment.
00:08:08 --> 00:08:13 So if you had to go out and find a job right now, how would you handle that?
00:08:13 --> 00:08:17 What would you think? I mean, do you think that with Tabitha Brown, the same makes sense?
00:08:18 --> 00:08:22 You know, to be honest, I think it makes a definite sense because,
00:08:22 --> 00:08:27 you know, a lot of entrepreneurs are struggling.
00:08:27 --> 00:08:30 And, you know, it almost reminded me, like, you know how they used to always
00:08:30 --> 00:08:33 talk about music artists, like struggling artists, struggling musicians.
00:08:34 --> 00:08:37 There are a lot of entrepreneurs like that, too. Check to check,
00:08:37 --> 00:08:41 you know, check behind check, checks or check behind check behind check.
00:08:42 --> 00:08:49 So I understand exactly what she's saying. And I think the only people who took
00:08:49 --> 00:08:56 it personal are probably the people who are maybe struggling or about to struggle.
00:08:57 --> 00:09:00 And, you know, I only say because, Dave, of course, if you're if you're an entrepreneur
00:09:00 --> 00:09:04 and you're making all types of money, you know, you're not even going to worry about what she said.
00:09:04 --> 00:09:10 I think you're only going to worry if you're kind of like chasing your dream
00:09:10 --> 00:09:14 and you hear that message and maybe you're struggling,
00:09:14 --> 00:09:18 you know, almost like, you know, for someone to start a new business and then
00:09:18 --> 00:09:23 have their parent, you know, someone who's a trusted figure in their life say,
00:09:23 --> 00:09:26 hey, I know what you're doing, but I think you need to get a real job.
00:09:26 --> 00:09:30 So me personally, I'm surprised so many people are offended by it.
00:09:31 --> 00:09:33 You know, because like when I hear, you know, Dave, it's one of the things where
00:09:33 --> 00:09:36 if it doesn't apply, let it fly.
00:09:37 --> 00:09:41 But I feel like a lot of people are taking it personal because she's not speaking to everybody.
00:09:42 --> 00:09:46 You know, and to be honest, she probably doesn't even know who she's speaking to.
00:09:47 --> 00:09:51 But it's kind of like for the people who hear it, it's those people who touch
00:09:51 --> 00:09:54 a nerve that probably feel a certain way. It's almost like, you know.
00:09:55 --> 00:09:57 Well, Dave, you know better than me.
00:09:57 --> 00:10:01 But, you know, when you go to church and the pastor will say something like,
00:10:01 --> 00:10:04 there's some of y'all that need to get right with the Lord.
00:10:04 --> 00:10:08 And, you know, people who feel like they're right with the Lord,
00:10:08 --> 00:10:11 you know, they don't feel bad.
00:10:11 --> 00:10:15 They don't feel anything. But people who may be like, oh, he's talking to me
00:10:15 --> 00:10:19 or, you know, why pastor keep on looking at me when he talked about people cannot come come into church.
00:10:20 --> 00:10:24 So long story short, I feel like the people who are already struggling with
00:10:24 --> 00:10:30 that decision are the ones who were touched by her words about getting a nine to five.
00:10:31 --> 00:10:35 You know, I can disagree with what you're saying.
00:10:36 --> 00:10:40 I also think that she's talking to a certain demographic as well.
00:10:40 --> 00:10:43 So the demographic I think she's talking to,
00:10:43 --> 00:10:48 I think, has to do with the younger folks who are calling themselves entrepreneurs
00:10:48 --> 00:10:56 and doing the stuff basically online to, you know,
00:10:56 --> 00:10:58 to sell their products or whatever they're doing.
00:11:00 --> 00:11:05 And, you know, calling themselves, you know, entrepreneurs because they're,
00:11:05 --> 00:11:09 you know, pushing their wares online and so forth and so forth.
00:11:10 --> 00:11:14 The people who have been doing this for a while, including herself,
00:11:15 --> 00:11:19 I don't think she's really talking to them so much because I think that they've
00:11:19 --> 00:11:26 been doing it for a while and they've had a plan and they know how to work their plan.
00:11:26 --> 00:11:32 And, of course, they're not opposed to going out and taking a job if they have
00:11:32 --> 00:11:42 to in order to help to add the income to help them stay in business and to pay
00:11:42 --> 00:11:43 the bills that they have to pay.
00:11:44 --> 00:11:50 We got a lot of young people, and I don't want to exclusively call them out,
00:11:50 --> 00:11:52 but I think you know what I mean.
00:11:52 --> 00:11:55 I mean, there's a lot of them that goes around and feels, I mean,
00:11:55 --> 00:12:01 because I deal with a lot of them myself in my job who are entrepreneurs.
00:12:01 --> 00:12:09 You know, they're doing things like nails and lashes and stuff like that,
00:12:09 --> 00:12:11 you know, hair, of course.
00:12:12 --> 00:12:18 And, you know, they're more of a mobile service and they're going around doing jobs that way.
00:12:20 --> 00:12:28 So and you know and you you know i see a lot in the income that they're making and i say to myself.
00:12:29 --> 00:12:35 Okay you're you're doing okay but you can't is this what you plan on surviving
00:12:35 --> 00:12:40 on you know because but i think that they do enough just to be able to do enough
00:12:40 --> 00:12:46 to get by and plus they have the services to be able to get the other part done.
00:12:47 --> 00:12:51 So it's just interesting to me. You know, the whole thing is really interesting to me. Yeah.
00:12:53 --> 00:12:57 I'm going to say real quick, it makes me think they always also say that entrepreneurs
00:12:57 --> 00:12:59 have a high rate of suicide.
00:13:01 --> 00:13:05 And actually, I think this is Suicide Prevention Month or Suicide Awareness
00:13:05 --> 00:13:06 Month. I think it is as well.
00:13:07 --> 00:13:11 But and I mean, I believe because being an entrepreneur is very stressful.
00:13:11 --> 00:13:14 And one of the main reasons it's stressful is because of money.
00:13:14 --> 00:13:18 You know, a lot of entrepreneurs, like they don't, you know,
00:13:18 --> 00:13:20 it's like you get in a bad financial bind.
00:13:20 --> 00:13:23 You know, you can't turn around and get a job super quick.
00:13:23 --> 00:13:28 You know, you can't always get a loan super quick. So I think being an entrepreneur,
00:13:28 --> 00:13:30 kind of like she said, it's not for everybody.
00:13:31 --> 00:13:35 And, you know, there's some people who are not making it, barely making it.
00:13:35 --> 00:13:39 And I mean, there are a lot of shout out to all the great entrepreneurs out there.
00:13:40 --> 00:13:46 But, you know, just like anything else, you know, what we see on social media is not the norm.
00:13:48 --> 00:13:53 And even being an entrepreneur these days, you got to have multiple streams of income.
00:13:53 --> 00:13:57 You know you can't just do one thing unless
00:13:57 --> 00:14:00 you got something unless you're a Kardashian or somebody
00:14:00 --> 00:14:06 like that right or or you know or Rihanna or somebody like that that gets you
00:14:06 --> 00:14:12 know gets you know gets hooked up with something and of course makes a whole
00:14:12 --> 00:14:17 bunch of money or whatever the case may be but how often does that happen in our community,
00:14:18 --> 00:14:20 It doesn't happen on a regular basis.
00:14:20 --> 00:14:26 So whatever money you're making, you really have to work at to be able to make it.
00:14:26 --> 00:14:31 Now, there are some people who can make it off of being in business for themselves,
00:14:31 --> 00:14:34 but you really have to work at it these days.
00:14:34 --> 00:14:37 Because the competition is fierce.
00:14:37 --> 00:14:42 And then you and I are always talking about one particular thing that's changing
00:14:42 --> 00:14:47 the game in almost every way, which is AI. We talk about it almost every week.
00:14:47 --> 00:14:54 So even now, you got to deal with that type of thing coming in and have,
00:14:55 --> 00:14:59 you know, you have to know how to manipulate and use that to your advantage
00:14:59 --> 00:15:02 as well in order to be successful as well. Yeah.
00:15:03 --> 00:15:09 So for you guys that are out there, I mean, let us know.
00:15:09 --> 00:15:11 What do you think about what Tabitha's up around this hand? I mean,
00:15:11 --> 00:15:17 of course, she's a very successful person, but, you know, she makes a lot of sense here.
00:15:18 --> 00:15:21 I don't know if people didn't like the way that she delivered her message,
00:15:21 --> 00:15:26 but, you know, she doesn't make a lot of sense here because it's hard out here now.
00:15:26 --> 00:15:31 You know, it used to be said that it's hard out here for a pimp.
00:15:31 --> 00:15:34 And I'm sorry, I'm out of here for entrepreneur.
00:15:37 --> 00:15:41 So just keep that in mind. You guys give us your thoughts on it,
00:15:41 --> 00:15:48 especially you guys that fit into this category that she may be talking about.
00:15:50 --> 00:15:56 All right, let's move on to our next topic. The next topic is talking about
00:15:56 --> 00:16:01 Angie Stone and her family has
00:16:01 --> 00:16:09 filed a wrongful death suit over the fatal highway crash that killed her.
00:16:10 --> 00:16:18 It says the family of Grammy-nominated R&B legend Angie Stone has filed a wrongful
00:16:18 --> 00:16:24 death lawsuit following the tragic highway accident that claimed the singer's
00:16:24 --> 00:16:29 life in the early morning hours of March 1, 2025.
00:16:30 --> 00:16:35 It says, according to the court documents obtained by WSB-TV,
00:16:36 --> 00:16:43 the lawsuit filed on September 2 in Gwyneth County by Angie Stone's children,
00:16:43 --> 00:16:45 Diamond and Michael D'Angelo Archer,
00:16:45 --> 00:16:55 claims that Stone survived the initial crash when the Sprinter van she was riding in overturned.
00:16:56 --> 00:17:03 While a passerby helped five of the nine passengers escape, Stone was still
00:17:03 --> 00:17:08 trying to exit when a tractor-trailer slammed into the van.
00:17:09 --> 00:17:16 She was ejected and pinned underneath, ultimately dying from her injury loss of claims.
00:17:16 --> 00:17:25 Stone's family believes that the tractor-trailer driver was inattentive at the time of the crash.
00:17:26 --> 00:17:34 And that the vehicle's collision avoidance system failed to function properly, among other claims.
00:17:35 --> 00:17:43 So they're saying that Angie Stone was still allegedly alive at the time that
00:17:43 --> 00:17:47 the car first hit, the first initial impact of the crash.
00:17:47 --> 00:17:52 So Stone, along with several family members and bandmates, was traveling northbound
00:17:52 --> 00:17:56 through Montgomery County, Alabama.
00:17:56 --> 00:18:00 You familiar with that area? No, I'm not. Okay.
00:18:01 --> 00:18:07 After performing the night before in Mobile on March 1st,
00:18:07 --> 00:18:16 the group was being transported in a 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van as part
00:18:16 --> 00:18:20 of the contracted trip from Atlanta to Mobile and back.
00:18:20 --> 00:18:28 The van was owned or operated by Good2Go Cafe Executive Elite Transportation
00:18:28 --> 00:18:35 and driven by Leedsdale Carter, the lawsuit alleges.
00:18:36 --> 00:18:43 While route back to Atlanta in the pre-dawn hours, tragedy struck around 4 a.m.
00:18:43 --> 00:18:50 Carter reported he lost control of the Sprinter van while traveling on I-65.
00:18:51 --> 00:18:56 The vehicle veered off the left side of the road, and in an attempt to correct
00:18:56 --> 00:18:59 the path back onto the highway.
00:19:00 --> 00:19:06 The van flipped onto its driver's side and came to a stop in the left lane.
00:19:07 --> 00:19:12 Despite the van overturning, the lawsuit claims that Stone and several others
00:19:12 --> 00:19:16 inside survived the initial crash without life-threatening injuries.
00:19:17 --> 00:19:22 Several passengers began trying to exit the vehicle and added by,
00:19:22 --> 00:19:28 I mean, aided by other motors who stopped to help.
00:19:28 --> 00:19:34 Good Samaritans used their hazard lights to alert oncoming traffic,
00:19:34 --> 00:19:37 and five of the nine passengers managed to escape the wreckage.
00:19:37 --> 00:19:41 But at approximately 4.25 a.m.,
00:19:41 --> 00:19:51 a CRST tractor-trailer driven by Jarrett Wilkerson allegedly approached the
00:19:51 --> 00:19:54 scene in the left lane at a full highway speed.
00:19:54 --> 00:19:59 The truck, a 2021 Freightliner,
00:20:00 --> 00:20:07 was equipped with Detroit Assurance 5.0, a collision mitigation system designed
00:20:07 --> 00:20:15 to detect obstacles in the road and automatically brake if the driver fails to react.
00:20:15 --> 00:20:21 According to the lawsuit, Wilkinson was allegedly inattentive to the road and
00:20:21 --> 00:20:24 failed to see the disabled Sprinter van.
00:20:24 --> 00:20:30 Additionally, the Detroit assurance system in the vehicle failed to warn the
00:20:30 --> 00:20:34 driver or activate the brakes, the lawsuit claims.
00:20:34 --> 00:20:41 As a result, the tractor trailer slammed into the overturned van without breaking,
00:20:42 --> 00:20:47 causing a catastrophic secondary collision.
00:20:47 --> 00:20:54 At the moment of the impact, Stone was still inside the Sprinter van trying to escape.
00:20:55 --> 00:21:02 The collision force was advanced, ejecting the star from the vehicle and pinning her beneath it.
00:21:03 --> 00:21:10 She remained conscious and trapped under the wreckage before ultimately succumbing to her injuries.
00:21:12 --> 00:21:18 Now the family is pursuing legal action against multiple parties,
00:21:18 --> 00:21:21 including the transportation companies, The company's the van driver,
00:21:21 --> 00:21:22 the tractor trailer driver,
00:21:23 --> 00:21:29 and the manufacturer of the Detroit, a Sean 5.0 system. Wow.
00:21:30 --> 00:21:33 Did you hear about anything? I heard about the original accident.
00:21:33 --> 00:21:37 I didn't know there was all that that kind of happened after. Yeah, me.
00:21:37 --> 00:21:40 It was in a car accident and that was it.
00:21:41 --> 00:21:46 Yeah, because we talked about it on the span. I didn't know all of that went on.
00:21:46 --> 00:21:51 And the fact that she was still living after the initial impact,
00:21:51 --> 00:21:56 and then to find out that, you know, she was trying to get out the vehicle and
00:21:56 --> 00:22:01 got hit again, and that's what killed her, her getting pinned underneath the vehicle.
00:22:02 --> 00:22:07 Man, that's crazy. And then there, you know, when you hear all that happened,
00:22:07 --> 00:22:12 and, you know, you hear that they're doing multiple lawsuits against multiple
00:22:12 --> 00:22:15 entities there and people.
00:22:16 --> 00:22:20 I guess you could see why I'm doing all that, because there seems to be a lot
00:22:20 --> 00:22:22 of people who were at fault there.
00:22:23 --> 00:22:28 What's your thoughts there? Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
00:22:28 --> 00:22:31 You know, it's kind of like, how do they prove all this stuff?
00:22:32 --> 00:22:35 Because, I mean, I know you said the vehicle detection system,
00:22:35 --> 00:22:39 but I, you know, I don't know how this is going to turn out.
00:22:41 --> 00:22:43 It's a little complicated.
00:22:44 --> 00:22:51 Yeah, and for, I mean, like I said, you know, we didn't know all of that.
00:22:51 --> 00:22:58 I mean, we didn't hear all of that had happened, you know, because, you know, I didn't know.
00:22:59 --> 00:23:03 I didn't know five of the people got pulled out up there. Yeah, I didn't either.
00:23:04 --> 00:23:06 Because when we first talked about the story, it just said that,
00:23:06 --> 00:23:11 you know, well, basically the story kind of focused on her and she died.
00:23:11 --> 00:23:15 And you wonder, you know, because even when we told the story before she was
00:23:15 --> 00:23:21 traveling with other people, you wonder, why wasn't she the only one to die?
00:23:21 --> 00:23:24 You know, but, you know, that's crazy.
00:23:24 --> 00:23:29 And if everything is true, they're saying, especially about these,
00:23:29 --> 00:23:36 you know, these trucks having this breaking system in them that's supposed to
00:23:36 --> 00:23:38 detect things in the road.
00:23:38 --> 00:23:42 Now, I'm sure the technology with these trucks are geared that way,
00:23:42 --> 00:23:45 especially when they're traveling on these back roads because of deer and all
00:23:45 --> 00:23:47 the animals that they have to break.
00:23:48 --> 00:23:58 But that's interesting because if that's true that any braking system did not
00:23:58 --> 00:24:01 work, yeah, that's a problem.
00:24:01 --> 00:24:08 Yeah I mean really they had to bring out all the experts to you know prove all
00:24:08 --> 00:24:16 this anti-breaking and coulda woulda right and then that the driver was you know inattentive.
00:24:17 --> 00:24:23 Then it didn't say I mean in looking at the article it doesn't say what led
00:24:23 --> 00:24:30 to the initial swerving off the roof unless the guy fell asleep it didn't say,
00:24:30 --> 00:24:35 as far as told them about the driver of the van that they were in, you know.
00:24:36 --> 00:24:39 They just said that he lost control of the beer. Right.
00:24:40 --> 00:24:45 So normally when you hear that type of thing, especially traveling at that time
00:24:45 --> 00:24:51 in the morning, that maybe it might have been, might not have been fully coherent. Right.
00:24:52 --> 00:24:56 But that's really a shame. I mean, you know, if all of that went on,
00:24:56 --> 00:25:01 I saw that story and I was like, wow, you know, because we had reported it before,
00:25:01 --> 00:25:04 but all of that hadn't been attached to it.
00:25:04 --> 00:25:09 And I thought it was interesting when I saw all of that was involved. I was like, man.
00:25:10 --> 00:25:15 So she actually could have survived that if that was the case. Yeah, it's crazy.
00:25:16 --> 00:25:19 Yeah, but that just tells you about the world that we're in,
00:25:19 --> 00:25:21 especially these type of things that happen.
00:25:22 --> 00:25:25 And, of course, traveling at that time in the morning, I mean,
00:25:25 --> 00:25:27 who hasn't been on the road?
00:25:27 --> 00:25:31 It doesn't have to be that late in the morning. And you feel yourself getting sleepy.
00:25:32 --> 00:25:38 Yeah. and I never get man I was coming I was coming back from Philly one night
00:25:38 --> 00:25:42 and coming down 495 I never I mean coming on 95,
00:25:43 --> 00:25:50 about to get on 495 you know up there in Claymont but my plan wasn't to get
00:25:50 --> 00:25:53 on 495 it was to keep straight on 95,
00:25:54 --> 00:25:56 ended up on 495,
00:25:57 --> 00:26:01 off the 12th street exit coming past the prison right.
00:26:03 --> 00:26:07 Letter i don't know how i got there i passed
00:26:07 --> 00:26:12 out i dozed off it was like three o'clock in the morning coming back my ex-wife
00:26:12 --> 00:26:20 sister was in the hospital and we had left the hospital and up in philly and
00:26:20 --> 00:26:26 everybody was asleep with me and i'm driving and i don't know you know when They said, Jesus,
00:26:27 --> 00:26:29 take the wheel. He took the wheel that night.
00:26:29 --> 00:26:35 Because I don't, to this day, I do not know how I ended up down there by Gander Hill.
00:26:37 --> 00:26:43 Yeah, I know. And it scared me so bad, man. I was like, and I remember telling
00:26:43 --> 00:26:46 my ex about it. She was like, are you serious? You fell asleep?
00:26:46 --> 00:26:50 I said, I did. I said, I don't know how we got here. I really don't.
00:26:50 --> 00:26:53 I really don't know how we got here. you know so
00:26:53 --> 00:26:56 but you know but hopefully
00:26:56 --> 00:26:59 that if that as far as
00:26:59 --> 00:27:03 that lawsuit is concerned well those lawsuits are concerned you
00:27:03 --> 00:27:08 know i hope it works out best for the children if they're able to prove there
00:27:08 --> 00:27:13 was any negligence or whatever but you know that's really a shame that all of
00:27:13 --> 00:27:21 that went on if that's what went on yeah so i agree all right yeah yeah all
00:27:21 --> 00:27:22 right let's move on to our next story.
00:27:24 --> 00:27:28 All right. So for the next story, this is something that just recently was announced
00:27:28 --> 00:27:34 out of Colorado. There was a black nurse who won a $20 million settlement after
00:27:34 --> 00:27:38 being blamed for a wrongful death.
00:27:38 --> 00:27:44 So basically what happened, there was a black nurse, I'm going to call her by
00:27:44 --> 00:27:49 her last name, which looks to be Joppy. And she was in Aurora, Colorado.
00:27:49 --> 00:27:57 And she was working with a 93-year-old patient who was kind of on septic shock
00:27:57 --> 00:27:59 and prior to ventilator.
00:27:59 --> 00:28:02 She was working with the family at their house.
00:28:03 --> 00:28:11 And according to the newspaper, she was requested to withdraw life support.
00:28:11 --> 00:28:17 So Joppy, the black nurse, followed the instructions from a respiratory therapist over the phone.
00:28:17 --> 00:28:22 And then she kind of remained with the family as the patient died peacefully.
00:28:22 --> 00:28:25 So, you know, normally we would think that would be, you know,
00:28:26 --> 00:28:27 kind of like how everything ended.
00:28:28 --> 00:28:33 So later, a medical examiner determined that the patient died in natural causes.
00:28:33 --> 00:28:40 But for some reason, the hospital claimed that Joppy acted outside of her role
00:28:40 --> 00:28:42 by shutting the ventilator off.
00:28:42 --> 00:28:50 They accused her of suffocating the patient and they reported her to the state regulators.
00:28:50 --> 00:28:56 Of course, she was fired a couple of weeks later and prosecutors were charging
00:28:56 --> 00:29:01 her with manslaughter and negligent death before dropping the case.
00:29:01 --> 00:29:08 And she feels that all of this happened because she had filed a complaint against
00:29:08 --> 00:29:13 the hospital for racial discrimination and she felt like this was kind of retaliation
00:29:13 --> 00:29:15 for the racial discrimination.
00:29:16 --> 00:29:22 So really what she kind of described was mistreatment by her supervisors.
00:29:23 --> 00:29:29 Verbal abuse, false accusations, unfair workloads compared to her white colleagues,
00:29:29 --> 00:29:36 And she also claimed she was blocked from promotions and placed on a performance review.
00:29:36 --> 00:29:40 So in August 2024, her case went to trial.
00:29:40 --> 00:29:49 The jurors concluded that she had been discriminated against because she had retaliated.
00:29:49 --> 00:29:55 I'm sorry, they determined that the hospital had retaliated against her because
00:29:55 --> 00:30:02 she brought a discrimination suit and they awarded her $20 million, Dave.
00:30:02 --> 00:30:09 So they gave her $5 million in compensatory damages, compensatory damages.
00:30:10 --> 00:30:12 I'm all tongue tied today. You know, it's.
00:30:13 --> 00:30:17 Must be that. The September blues, entrepreneur blues.
00:30:17 --> 00:30:22 And then they also gave her $15 million in punitive damages.
00:30:22 --> 00:30:25 And of course, a judge approved that verdict.
00:30:25 --> 00:30:29 So that was an interesting story there because the thing that kind of threw
00:30:29 --> 00:30:36 me off is if she's getting direct instruction from a respiratory therapist over
00:30:36 --> 00:30:41 the phone on how to give end of life care,
00:30:42 --> 00:30:46 then how can they turn around and say that, you know, she did something wrong
00:30:46 --> 00:30:49 when she was going step by step?
00:30:49 --> 00:30:51 So, and that's one.
00:30:51 --> 00:30:57 And then two, and I mean, this may be a little controversial to say,
00:30:57 --> 00:31:00 so if anyone hears it, just know it came from Dave Coker.
00:31:01 --> 00:31:10 But if the family is requesting end-of-life services and you give end-of-life
00:31:10 --> 00:31:16 services and the hospital is saying you didn't give end-of-services correctly,
00:31:16 --> 00:31:19 but the patient still passed peacefully.
00:31:20 --> 00:31:26 It just sounds kind of weird because you did your job.
00:31:26 --> 00:31:28 The patient died peacefully.
00:31:28 --> 00:31:32 So how did the hospital come back and say, okay, well, the patient died,
00:31:32 --> 00:31:34 but you did it the wrong way?
00:31:34 --> 00:31:39 So I'm not sure, Dave, Have you heard about this story at all? No.
00:31:40 --> 00:31:47 Okay. And it sounds, it's a very interesting story of the stuff that we've been
00:31:47 --> 00:31:52 hearing about for years as far as, I mean, this is basically still assisting,
00:31:52 --> 00:31:54 you know, go on, you know,
00:31:55 --> 00:32:02 the requests as far as their final requests as far as depth is concerned, in a way, put it that way.
00:32:03 --> 00:32:06 Right. i know i did not know about
00:32:06 --> 00:32:09 this and considering that she was being walked through
00:32:09 --> 00:32:15 everything as to what to do that's what she said right yeah she court and she
00:32:15 --> 00:32:20 went according to what she was told right that that is what she said they're
00:32:20 --> 00:32:25 still trying to yeah and apparently the court must have must have found must
00:32:25 --> 00:32:29 have ruled that she that she followed everything correctly right,
00:32:30 --> 00:32:31 As far as we know, yes.
00:32:32 --> 00:32:37 No, I mean, they awarded her $20 million. I mean, that's nothing to sneeze at.
00:32:38 --> 00:32:43 Now, you know, when you hear something like this, though, a person gets awarded
00:32:43 --> 00:32:44 $20 million. $20 million.
00:32:47 --> 00:32:55 In fact, I think Dave's – okay, Dave, you could drop off the call for a minute, but I see you.
00:32:56 --> 00:32:58 Yeah, I don't know what happened just then.
00:33:00 --> 00:33:05 That $20 million. Yeah, you'd be paying to yourself now. I'm going to say that $20 million.
00:33:05 --> 00:33:09 Yeah, $20 million threw me off. Yeah, the $20 million threw me off. Yeah,
00:33:11 --> 00:33:16 because, I mean, you get the $20 million now. Think about it. Do you have to move?
00:33:17 --> 00:33:25 You know, because obviously she, you know, she upset somebody,
00:33:25 --> 00:33:27 you know what I mean? Because she got awarded that money.
00:33:29 --> 00:33:36 And as far as the family is concerned, what is the family saying in that case? Right.
00:33:36 --> 00:33:43 I mean, think about it. I mean, you know, was the family upset with her care?
00:33:43 --> 00:33:48 So the article didn't say anything about it. And I don't know,
00:33:48 --> 00:33:50 you know, I think I'm trying to think if I was in that situation,
00:33:50 --> 00:33:56 if I felt like my loved one died peacefully after we were requested for end of life service,
00:33:57 --> 00:34:00 I think I would have came to the nurse's defense on anything.
00:34:00 --> 00:34:06 But, you know, every family is different. and I'm almost positive I mean considering
00:34:06 --> 00:34:09 they awarded her the jury awarded her money,
00:34:09 --> 00:34:13 the family had to speak or be on
00:34:13 --> 00:34:20 some type of some type of allegiance or some type of understanding with her
00:34:20 --> 00:34:27 I guess in order I mean in order for her to win I guess saying that they don't
00:34:27 --> 00:34:31 see anything that she did wrong or that she acted accordingly.
00:34:32 --> 00:34:37 These Nowadays, I mean, you know, you know, I taught in the medical field for 10 years.
00:34:37 --> 00:34:43 And one of the things that I taught about was malpractice suits and what leads to a malpractice suit.
00:34:45 --> 00:34:47 And the slightest thing, Leonard.
00:34:49 --> 00:34:57 Slightest thing you do wrong and that could be a doctor that could be a nurse that could be a cna,
00:34:58 --> 00:35:03 that could be the anesthesiologist and especially there's a lot of them to come
00:35:03 --> 00:35:08 through with the anesthesiologist you know or somebody that's taking blood or
00:35:08 --> 00:35:16 or or or you know There's so many different things that leads to malpractice lawsuits.
00:35:18 --> 00:35:26 It's a tough field to be in because you have to be on your P's and Q's on the regular.
00:35:27 --> 00:35:31 You cannot have an all-day for you. You know what I mean?
00:35:32 --> 00:35:37 Everybody can. I've seen more stories when it comes to practices.
00:35:37 --> 00:35:42 And you know things being left in people's lives and all kinds of people,
00:35:43 --> 00:35:46 you know the DNR in place and
00:35:46 --> 00:35:53 you chose to play God and try to save this person and led to more complications
00:35:53 --> 00:36:05 yeah it's a lot so for them Dave are you still with us hello hello um.
00:36:07 --> 00:36:07 Thank you.
00:36:08 --> 00:36:11 All right. I think Dave's microphone is going in and out.
00:36:11 --> 00:36:15 And I'm not sure where he was going to keep on going with that.
00:36:15 --> 00:36:20 But I mean, of course, it's very odd. But it's funny because I've seen lately
00:36:20 --> 00:36:25 that a lot of, there've been a lot of black nurses nationwide who are kind of
00:36:25 --> 00:36:28 speaking out more about discrimination in the nursing field,
00:36:29 --> 00:36:31 discrimination from a lot of the hospitals here.
00:36:31 --> 00:36:37 Even here in Delaware, we had a hospital that was accused of a discrimination lawsuit.
00:36:37 --> 00:36:40 So I'm really curious to kind of see how that turns out.
00:36:41 --> 00:36:43 I don't know. It looks like Dave is back with us.
00:36:44 --> 00:36:48 And I think you're messing with my stuff right down there.
00:36:50 --> 00:36:56 Look, they hit my hand. In fact, where am I? I don't even see me on here. I'll drop it off.
00:36:59 --> 00:37:03 I don't know what to say. Anyway, sorry about that, folks. But yeah, Leonard's right.
00:37:04 --> 00:37:09 You know, here in Delaware, I mean, It's not really all over right now.
00:37:09 --> 00:37:13 It's just really weird with these type of cases or whatever.
00:37:13 --> 00:37:17 And people are being sued left and right these days when it comes to medical care.
00:37:17 --> 00:37:22 So for this to happen and this young lady to be awarded the way she was,
00:37:22 --> 00:37:28 there must have been some heavy evidence in her favor in order for it to happen.
00:37:29 --> 00:37:32 So that's a story that's worthwhile kind of keeping an eye on,
00:37:33 --> 00:37:38 too, Leonard, to see if there is any blowback from the ruling.
00:37:39 --> 00:37:45 All right. We're going to move on to our next story. What's that? I said understood.
00:37:46 --> 00:37:49 Yeah, okay. Let's see what's going on.
00:37:50 --> 00:37:53 All right, the next story, let's see.
00:37:54 --> 00:38:04 Brandon T. Jackson defends Drewski, compares NASCAR students to Robert Downey Jr.'s in Copic Thunder.
00:38:05 --> 00:38:08 Yeah, this is so funny that Brandon T.
00:38:08 --> 00:38:11 Jackson actually spoke up on this. But I don't
00:38:11 --> 00:38:19 know if a lot of you guys by now have seen the infamous Drewski video and Drewski
00:38:19 --> 00:38:28 comedian who actually got made up as a white as a white man who was going to
00:38:28 --> 00:38:31 a NASCAR race rally. Right.
00:38:32 --> 00:38:38 And it's interesting. If you hadn't seen this, you got to go out and see it, folks.
00:38:39 --> 00:38:43 The makeup artist was on point. I ain't going to lie. It really was.
00:38:43 --> 00:38:44 Because you would never know that was Drew.
00:38:45 --> 00:38:49 Never, you know. So, but Brandon T.
00:38:49 --> 00:38:54 Jackson, who's an actor, some of you guys might know from Big Mama's House, too.
00:38:54 --> 00:38:59 He's on Family Business, New Orleans now. But he's done a lot of different things.
00:38:59 --> 00:39:01 He was in a women's skating movie.
00:39:02 --> 00:39:05 Roll Bounce. Roll Bounce, yeah. Yeah, so.
00:39:06 --> 00:39:11 So it says actor Brandon T. Jackson best known for his role they said best known
00:39:11 --> 00:39:17 for his role as Alpha Chino in Tropic Thunder and yeah he was good in Tropic
00:39:17 --> 00:39:21 Thunder but in this case I guess this is why they're bringing it up,
00:39:21 --> 00:39:27 excuse me stepping in to defend comedian Drewski in a new TMZ interview,
00:39:29 --> 00:39:33 Jackson compared counseling Drewski to counseling Robert Downey Jr.
00:39:33 --> 00:39:41 For his blackface role in the 2008 satire of Tropic Thunder, movie Tropic Thunder.
00:39:41 --> 00:39:45 Did you ever see Tropic Thunder, by the way? Too many times, unfortunately.
00:39:46 --> 00:39:52 Okay. I figured that would be a movie that you would watch anyway.
00:39:53 --> 00:39:58 So Jackson argued that both Downey and Drewski pushed boundaries in comedy.
00:39:59 --> 00:40:06 He pointed out that Downey stayed in character off-camera while Druski's dedication
00:40:06 --> 00:40:13 to the NASCAR skit shows similar commitment to the performance art.
00:40:13 --> 00:40:17 He likened Druski's approach to the classic white chicks, by the way,
00:40:17 --> 00:40:21 in Brothers and Dave Chappelle's groundbreaking sketches.
00:40:21 --> 00:40:28 For Jackson, the backlash represents a larger fight to preserve immediate freedom.
00:40:29 --> 00:40:38 It says, Druski, whose real name is Drew, Desvordes went viral for a whiteface
00:40:38 --> 00:40:43 skit where he appeared as a southern white man at a NASCAR event.
00:40:44 --> 00:40:50 Wearing pale makeup, overalls, and a cowboy hat, he exaggerated stereotypes
00:40:50 --> 00:40:53 while joking about being a white boy accepted by the hood.
00:40:54 --> 00:41:04 The video spread rapidly across Instagram, TikTok, and X, drawing over 100 million views.
00:41:04 --> 00:41:11 While some praised its edgy satire, others criticized it for perpetuating racial
00:41:11 --> 00:41:15 stereotypes, sparking parallels to blackface controversies.
00:41:16 --> 00:41:21 The criticism grew louder after Drew C's live appearance at a Daytona Beach
00:41:21 --> 00:41:24 NASCAR race on September 2nd.
00:41:25 --> 00:41:32 He has since addressed the controversy online, posted on X, They got my skid on the news.
00:41:33 --> 00:41:39 Am I canceled? You know, in Defendant Drewski Jackson emphasized comedy's long
00:41:39 --> 00:41:41 tradition of pushing boundaries.
00:41:41 --> 00:41:44 He referenced legends like Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence,
00:41:44 --> 00:41:49 who use exaggerated characters to highlight social dynamics.
00:41:50 --> 00:41:53 Canceling Drewski for this would be like canceling Robert Downey Jr.
00:41:54 --> 00:42:00 And Tropic Thunder, Jackson said. both were committed to the craft and used
00:42:00 --> 00:42:02 in satire to make people laugh and think.
00:42:03 --> 00:42:09 Jackson's comments highlighted the ongoing debate about where humor crosses the line.
00:42:09 --> 00:42:15 While some see Drewsey's work as a parody in the spirit of satire,
00:42:15 --> 00:42:20 others insist it reinforces harmful stereotypes.
00:42:21 --> 00:42:28 Now, for those of you who have not seen this, I suggest you go out there and
00:42:28 --> 00:42:30 really take a look at this.
00:42:30 --> 00:42:34 It is fascinating. He pulls it off very well.
00:42:34 --> 00:42:39 You don't know it's him unless you know it's him. You know what I mean?
00:42:40 --> 00:42:46 And then there's the guy that he did.
00:42:46 --> 00:42:52 There's a guy that shows up that kind of looks exactly like the character that
00:42:52 --> 00:42:57 Drewski was in Makeup Doors. But he kind of, he played it off.
00:42:57 --> 00:43:00 He kind of laughed about it. He thought it was funny, you know.
00:43:01 --> 00:43:07 But as far as I'm saying racial stereotypes, do you think that Drewski went too far with this?
00:43:09 --> 00:43:10 Yes, I do.
00:43:12 --> 00:43:17 Sure. And, you know, the only reason I say it and I mean, to be honest,
00:43:17 --> 00:43:19 did I think it was funny? Yes.
00:43:20 --> 00:43:23 Did did it remind me of like white chicks?
00:43:23 --> 00:43:26 I was kind of pasty. So, I mean, like even when I looked at it,
00:43:26 --> 00:43:29 it didn't look like a real white person. But I mean, it looked a little off.
00:43:30 --> 00:43:34 But and I mean, I thought it was funny. You know, to be honest,
00:43:34 --> 00:43:40 when I watched the the video, I wasn't sure if the people in the video,
00:43:40 --> 00:43:43 if they knew something funny, if they knew something was funny,
00:43:43 --> 00:43:49 too, or if they thought it was just a legitimate hype, redneck type person.
00:43:49 --> 00:43:54 So that was the only question I had, because when I looked at him in the face,
00:43:54 --> 00:43:56 you know, it just looked powdery.
00:43:56 --> 00:43:59 And I'm sure up close to probably even look more powdery because,
00:43:59 --> 00:44:04 you know, how white chicks like the movie, how, you know, I mean, we laughed about it.
00:44:04 --> 00:44:08 But yeah, a little pasty. Now,
00:44:08 --> 00:44:12 back in the day, and kind of like when he thought about other comedic geniuses
00:44:12 --> 00:44:15 doing the same thing and kind of pushing the lines of comedy,
00:44:15 --> 00:44:21 I feel like that was a back in the day thing because now everything is so politically
00:44:21 --> 00:44:25 correct that how they used to push comedy back in the day,
00:44:25 --> 00:44:29 you know, you can't do it anymore because people are getting offended,
00:44:29 --> 00:44:30 people getting canceled,
00:44:30 --> 00:44:33 shows getting canceled, sponsors dropping.
00:44:33 --> 00:44:38 So, I mean, I definitely think back in the day, maybe even as late as like the
00:44:38 --> 00:44:41 Dave Chappelle, the Dave Chappelle show era.
00:44:42 --> 00:44:48 But nowadays, I feel like, you know, everybody has hurt feelings.
00:44:48 --> 00:44:56 You know, everybody's on the verge of getting canceled. And so for today's standard,
00:44:56 --> 00:44:58 I will say it went too far.
00:45:00 --> 00:45:03 And I'm sure and they we already know exactly what we're here.
00:45:04 --> 00:45:08 Well, hold on. If a white person can do if a black person can do white face,
00:45:08 --> 00:45:10 why can't we do black face?
00:45:10 --> 00:45:13 You know, you already know that's coming if it's not already here.
00:45:14 --> 00:45:19 And, you know, I think about it. This kind of stuff has been done over and over
00:45:19 --> 00:45:23 again for years. There was an old, old movie called Watermelon Man,
00:45:24 --> 00:45:26 where a comedian actually played a part.
00:45:26 --> 00:45:33 He was a dark-skinned black man, and he ended up waking up one day as a white man, you know.
00:45:33 --> 00:45:38 And it was interesting how different his life was, you know,
00:45:38 --> 00:45:42 as being a white man. We've seen these things before.
00:45:43 --> 00:45:47 There was somebody recently that did the white face thing and everything.
00:45:47 --> 00:45:51 I'm trying to remember who that was. But, you know, so these stereotypes and
00:45:51 --> 00:45:54 this kind of stuff has been going on for so long now.
00:45:55 --> 00:46:01 We're in a climate right now that either we got to take everything seriously
00:46:01 --> 00:46:06 or every now and then we got to take a moment to laugh.
00:46:08 --> 00:46:17 If we don't laugh and we don't take things so serious, we're just going to spontaneously
00:46:17 --> 00:46:21 combust because of everything that's going on.
00:46:22 --> 00:46:26 I see what he was trying to do and I see what he did as far as,
00:46:26 --> 00:46:29 you know, poking fun at him. And Drewski is that type of person.
00:46:29 --> 00:46:31 He's a prankster, you know, that type of guy.
00:46:32 --> 00:46:35 It all depends on how far you take something like
00:46:35 --> 00:46:39 this as to what the backlash is going to be white people
00:46:39 --> 00:46:43 are so serious about a lot of things they can
00:46:43 --> 00:46:45 poke fun but they don't handle fun being
00:46:45 --> 00:46:49 poked at them that well so we
00:46:49 --> 00:46:51 have to you know we have to look at
00:46:51 --> 00:46:54 the skit as being a skit that's when you
00:46:54 --> 00:46:58 turn on when you turn on x and tiktok and
00:46:58 --> 00:47:01 instagram everything's basically skits
00:47:01 --> 00:47:04 on those platforms you know
00:47:04 --> 00:47:08 and so you don't know what you know so you have to have some type of humor in
00:47:08 --> 00:47:13 order to be able to even look at these platforms because of everything that
00:47:13 --> 00:47:20 they do on the platforms and you can't really take everything too serious so
00:47:20 --> 00:47:24 i think that it was i think it was.
00:47:25 --> 00:47:33 Did he take it too far he got what he wanted well you know Dave I think part of taking it too far is,
00:47:34 --> 00:47:38 how did people feel about it like you know how did that demographic feel about
00:47:38 --> 00:47:43 it because you know if they were okay with it and they laughed it off then it's
00:47:43 --> 00:47:48 kind of like well shit I mean shoot was it was it too far but you know if they
00:47:48 --> 00:47:53 are super hurt and mad because you know I think we have to understand how,
00:47:53 --> 00:47:56 and I mean, even though it's kind of back in, we have to understand,
00:47:57 --> 00:48:02 it's not what we do, it's how people feel about what we do. You know, so.
00:48:03 --> 00:48:09 Well, I look at, you know, the way the world is these days with all the racism,
00:48:10 --> 00:48:15 you know, watching the Eagles game last week.
00:48:15 --> 00:48:19 I don't know if you, did you watch the beginning of the game?
00:48:19 --> 00:48:20 Did you see any of the game?
00:48:21 --> 00:48:24 I did see the, you're talking about the Black National Anthem. I did see that.
00:48:25 --> 00:48:28 Yeah. Okay. All right. So you know where I was going to go with this. Okay.
00:48:30 --> 00:48:32 I'm sitting there watching this young lady sing this and that.
00:48:33 --> 00:48:38 They bring her out, you know, she's an accomplished singer, you know, from that area.
00:48:38 --> 00:48:41 She gets out and she got her Eagle jersey on and everything.
00:48:41 --> 00:48:47 And she gets up there and she sings the Lift Every Voice and Sing the Black National Anthem.
00:48:49 --> 00:48:53 Now, what I found so strange, and I'm listening to the commentators,
00:48:53 --> 00:48:55 and they didn't say too much at first about it.
00:48:56 --> 00:49:01 You know, they said something later on in the show, but they didn't say anything right then.
00:49:01 --> 00:49:08 You ever be in a bar or a club or something and like doing karaoke?
00:49:09 --> 00:49:11 I know you guys do karaoke down at your spot.
00:49:12 --> 00:49:16 And persons up there talking or about to sing or whatever, you hear a whole
00:49:16 --> 00:49:18 bunch of people talking at the same time.
00:49:18 --> 00:49:22 You know like they're not paying attention that's how that national anthem went
00:49:22 --> 00:49:26 and all you heard was people talking it was almost like the mics were turned
00:49:26 --> 00:49:30 up so you hear these people talking wasn't it the weirdest i had never seen
00:49:30 --> 00:49:32 or heard that before had you ever seen that before.
00:49:33 --> 00:49:39 On tv doing a football game not necessarily i mean they almost they they almost
00:49:39 --> 00:49:45 panned the crowd almost to like to double down and show us that everybody was
00:49:45 --> 00:49:46 just doing their own thing,
00:49:47 --> 00:49:50 everybody was doing their own thing right and the
00:49:50 --> 00:49:56 girl gets up there and she does a terrific job and so forth now at the end of
00:49:56 --> 00:50:00 the song they did give her you know she got her applause I mean people did clap
00:50:00 --> 00:50:03 because I was wondering if people was even going to clap at the end but she
00:50:03 --> 00:50:07 did an excellent job and you know you could see some people stood and rose to their feet and whatever,
00:50:08 --> 00:50:11 so forth and so forth then moments later,
00:50:12 --> 00:50:17 Boyz II Men comes out to sing the national anthem man you can hear a pin drop
00:50:17 --> 00:50:21 i mean did you see when they sang uh no i didn't.
00:50:22 --> 00:50:26 Complete opposite leonard i'm a complete opposite and
00:50:26 --> 00:50:29 i'm like so i was
00:50:29 --> 00:50:33 trying to give them a bit the crowd the benefit of the doubt that maybe they
00:50:33 --> 00:50:37 just wasn't paying attention but no they were paying attention they totally
00:50:37 --> 00:50:43 did that on purpose oh yeah yeah and you know but that's the climate that we're
00:50:43 --> 00:50:48 in these days you know no you know they didn't care about that song,
00:50:48 --> 00:50:52 they cared about the national anthem but they didn't care about that other song,
00:50:52 --> 00:50:58 and and that's where we are these days so when people make these type of moves like drusky did,
00:50:59 --> 00:51:01 and get the reaction that he did,
00:51:02 --> 00:51:06 You know, everything's done for clicks and views anyway. So they got 100 million views.
00:51:07 --> 00:51:11 I mean, you know, that's the bottom line for them anyway. You know,
00:51:11 --> 00:51:12 they got people talking.
00:51:13 --> 00:51:17 And so, and we're talking about it. So they definitely got people talking.
00:51:18 --> 00:51:21 So just interesting. I just thought it was interesting.
00:51:22 --> 00:51:28 And, you know, climate of the world, this is where we are. So you guys give us your thoughts on it.
00:51:28 --> 00:51:32 Send us a note. let us know because we'll be interested in seeing what you guys
00:51:32 --> 00:51:34 have to say about it. Okay.
00:51:35 --> 00:51:38 All right. We're going to Leonard's favorite part of the show.
00:51:38 --> 00:51:41 Oh, by the way, people, before I go into this.
00:51:44 --> 00:51:50 By the way, okay. You heard at the end of last week's show, you know,
00:51:50 --> 00:51:52 and I include, we asked our guest, um,
00:51:53 --> 00:51:59 Shay Frisbee, you know, one of the comments was that we were talking about the
00:51:59 --> 00:52:00 movie Invitational Life.
00:52:01 --> 00:52:04 And I asked her, you know, I asked her, no, Leonard really was the one that
00:52:04 --> 00:52:08 brought it up and said that, you know, that I've seen every movie,
00:52:08 --> 00:52:11 old movie on Earth and on a TV show.
00:52:11 --> 00:52:18 And then she, you know, we, she was asked, has she seen the movie Invitational Life? She said no.
00:52:19 --> 00:52:22 So, and of course I got on and told her her black card needed to be pulled and
00:52:22 --> 00:52:29 all that stuff. So after the show, Lennon and I decide to do a poll. No, no, no.
00:52:29 --> 00:52:35 Here we go. You didn't do a poll. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. So this is Lennon.
00:52:35 --> 00:52:40 So now I said, okay. He said, put it on Facebook. I said, okay,
00:52:40 --> 00:52:42 I'm going to put it on Facebook. I said, I'm going to ask the question.
00:52:43 --> 00:52:50 So I go on Facebook. I put up the poster from the original poster from the movie Invitational Life.
00:52:51 --> 00:52:55 And I put out a question. And I said, I said, can you guys help us sell a little
00:52:55 --> 00:52:58 debate? Me and my podcast partner sell a little debate.
00:52:59 --> 00:53:03 And how many of you guys have seen this movie?
00:53:04 --> 00:53:07 What i said now of course he didn't have a problem because
00:53:07 --> 00:53:10 i know you saw it when i posted it how come
00:53:10 --> 00:53:12 you didn't tell me right then and there i guess you wanted to see what was
00:53:12 --> 00:53:16 going to happen first i must have got well
00:53:16 --> 00:53:24 now it's over 140 150 comments 95 i'd say 94 to 95 percent of the people have
00:53:24 --> 00:53:33 seen the movie at least once okay so mr young here goes and says okay that's not a poll and it wasn't.
00:53:34 --> 00:53:37 What did you do? So I put up a true poll.
00:53:38 --> 00:53:41 I put it in my Instagram stories because that's the only way I can do a poll.
00:53:43 --> 00:53:46 And he didn't tell me this after you did it, but go ahead.
00:53:46 --> 00:53:51 But Dave, why would it matter? Because, I mean, well, one, I can't vote in the
00:53:51 --> 00:53:54 poll even though you tried to sneak your little vote in there.
00:53:55 --> 00:54:03 But you know, I put up a poll and my poll was, I think 69% said they had not seen it.
00:54:04 --> 00:54:06 Oh, yeah, I was thinking of it. Yeah.
00:54:07 --> 00:54:08 I thought it was 62 and 38.
00:54:10 --> 00:54:13 Yeah, but when I sent it to you, it hadn't been 20, because,
00:54:13 --> 00:54:14 you know, stories only stay up 24 hours.
00:54:15 --> 00:54:19 And when I sent it to you, it was like the next morning, so yeah, 69 had not seen it.
00:54:20 --> 00:54:26 31 or whatever the rest had seen it. So I think the demographic was,
00:54:26 --> 00:54:29 though, probably, what, it says under 50.
00:54:30 --> 00:54:35 Well, yes. I mean, I said more than likely, I'm sure a majority of people under
00:54:35 --> 00:54:40 40 years old have not seen Imitation of Life, which is 70 years old,
00:54:40 --> 00:54:42 black and white subtitles.
00:54:42 --> 00:54:46 And probably people 50 and older, maybe a majority have seen it.
00:54:47 --> 00:54:53 Yeah. Now, what I did on Facebook, we had people around your age that responded
00:54:53 --> 00:54:56 and a few younger people. You know.
00:54:58 --> 00:55:01 You know people people you
00:55:01 --> 00:55:04 know are funny because you know of course
00:55:04 --> 00:55:11 everything is based on age and demographics nowadays so i i still gotta go but
