00:01:24 --> 00:01:27 I'm hanging out with my partner, Mr. Leonard Young. What's going on, sir?
00:01:28 --> 00:01:32 Hey, Dave. Everything is good. This is Leonard Young, CEO of National Black
00:01:32 --> 00:01:38 Guide, DelawareBlack.com, black media specialist, all-around good guy. How goes it, Dave?
00:01:39 --> 00:01:44 Hey, man. Can't complain. It's another wonderful day in the neighborhood.
00:01:44 --> 00:01:47 You know? What can you say, man? What can you say?
00:01:48 --> 00:01:52 The weather, the weather's been toying with us. It's warm out there today.
00:01:52 --> 00:01:58 It was, it was, you know, been kind of up and down the last few days with the rain and everything.
00:01:59 --> 00:02:04 Did, um, did it affect you and all of your, your stuff down at the campground?
00:02:05 --> 00:02:08 Not really. So I had gone to Charlotte this weekend for a wedding.
00:02:09 --> 00:02:14 One of my wife's cousins got married. So we were down there,
00:02:14 --> 00:02:19 but I mean, probably just like up here, you know, maybe Friday it poured down
00:02:19 --> 00:02:21 raining and then Saturday was sunny.
00:02:21 --> 00:02:24 It was sunny for the wedding because their wedding was outdoors.
00:02:24 --> 00:02:26 So I mean, I guess that's all that matters.
00:02:26 --> 00:02:31 And then it of course you know got a little funny in the afternoon but i mean
00:02:31 --> 00:02:35 overall the the weather was pretty decent it uh it cooperated as much as it
00:02:35 --> 00:02:39 could probably could so you know no no complaints,
00:02:40 --> 00:02:47 charlotte i love charlotte though me too very very nice very nice down there very nice down there,
00:02:48 --> 00:02:53 Yeah, it's always one of them places I said, man, I wouldn't mind living there.
00:02:55 --> 00:03:00 Yeah, I agree. And Dave, you know, a funny story. So, you know,
00:03:00 --> 00:03:03 this is why I always think it always pays to be nice to people.
00:03:04 --> 00:03:08 And I say this because, so, you know, Dave, one of the things I'm going to try
00:03:08 --> 00:03:13 to commit to, every time I go to like a city that's not an immediate city,
00:03:13 --> 00:03:15 you know, like not Philadelphia, Baltimore,
00:03:16 --> 00:03:21 D.C., But I go to a city that I travel in, I'm always going to try to go to
00:03:21 --> 00:03:26 one black restaurant, and I'm always going to try to go to one black museum.
00:03:27 --> 00:03:32 And we went to a real good museum in Charlotte. It was called the Gantt Center
00:03:32 --> 00:03:36 for the Arts, so kind of like a black art.
00:03:37 --> 00:03:41 Now, is that right in the city? Yep, yep, right downtown, right in the city.
00:03:41 --> 00:03:47 And they're named after the first African-American mayor in Charlotte,
00:03:47 --> 00:03:49 which was, I think, in the 80s.
00:03:49 --> 00:03:52 So, you know, that was good to know. They had some nice art.
00:03:53 --> 00:03:56 But then, and this is why I say, you know, you never know who you're going to
00:03:56 --> 00:03:58 meet. It always pays to be nice.
00:03:59 --> 00:04:03 We went to this Black-owned restaurant. And I found them because they were one
00:04:03 --> 00:04:07 of the oldest Black-owned restaurants in Charlotte. And they were right in the city, too.
00:04:08 --> 00:04:11 So, you know, we go sit down. and,
00:04:12 --> 00:04:16 It's kind of tight quarters, but not too tight, where you sit down at the table
00:04:16 --> 00:04:18 and there's going to be someone right next to you.
00:04:19 --> 00:04:23 And there was this black guy and this black lady, probably his wife,
00:04:23 --> 00:04:27 well, was his wife, sitting across this little aisle from us.
00:04:27 --> 00:04:31 So when we sit down, he speaks, hey, how are y'all doing?
00:04:31 --> 00:04:33 And I'm like, good.
00:04:33 --> 00:04:36 And my wife, she's a little less talkative.
00:04:38 --> 00:04:43 Or in certain situations. So, you know, so then he kind of starts talking to
00:04:43 --> 00:04:47 us and, you know, of course, I'm like, well, you know, we here,
00:04:47 --> 00:04:49 we went, I'm going to talk back to him.
00:04:49 --> 00:04:54 So he was just asking us questions, you know, oh, are you, is this your first
00:04:54 --> 00:04:57 time here? Like, yeah, you know, this is our first time here at the restaurant.
00:04:58 --> 00:05:04 Anyway, long story short, he gets, you know how you see people making the hand
00:05:04 --> 00:05:12 signals? he calls a waitress over and I see him point to our table and I know what he's doing.
00:05:13 --> 00:05:18 Long story short, he paid for my wife and I, he paid for our breakfast brunch
00:05:18 --> 00:05:21 and, you know, very nice guy.
00:05:21 --> 00:05:25 He went to an HBCU. His wife went to a different HBCU. Of course,
00:05:25 --> 00:05:27 Yolanda went to Hampton. I went to FAMU.
00:05:28 --> 00:05:32 So, you know, after he paid for our food, then the conversation really opened
00:05:32 --> 00:05:38 up When we talked to him, he was a black lawyer in a nearby town, but very nice.
00:05:38 --> 00:05:42 But, you know, it just kind of made me think of, you know, nowadays,
00:05:42 --> 00:05:45 everyone's always on their phone, on their phone.
00:05:45 --> 00:05:49 They got their earphones in, you know, people don't really talk to people anymore.
00:05:50 --> 00:05:55 But, you know, that story was just a testament where you never know who you're
00:05:55 --> 00:06:01 going to meet at any given time, whether they look to be the bottom of the bottom
00:06:01 --> 00:06:03 or the top of the top. You know, you just never know.
00:06:04 --> 00:06:08 Well, that is so funny you say that.
00:06:09 --> 00:06:16 Something similar like that happened to me recently. And I stopped in the Dollar
00:06:16 --> 00:06:19 General on Salem Church Road there.
00:06:20 --> 00:06:22 And I'm in there, and I'm buying some stuff.
00:06:23 --> 00:06:29 And I was grabbing, you know, I probably grabbed about $30 worth of stuff that
00:06:29 --> 00:06:31 day. I normally never get it.
00:06:32 --> 00:06:36 And this is when you know fate kind of steps in because
00:06:36 --> 00:06:39 i normally never get one of those hand baskets you know
00:06:39 --> 00:06:42 but i had one because i one of the things i know i
00:06:42 --> 00:06:45 wanted to get with some water bottle water and i always get the larger
00:06:45 --> 00:06:48 bottle waters so so i
00:06:48 --> 00:06:51 have this hand cart and i get in line and it's
00:06:51 --> 00:06:54 a little bit of a line that day that's the only thing about
00:06:54 --> 00:06:57 going in that particular the place because if they because sometimes
00:06:57 --> 00:07:01 they only have the one register open so but
00:07:01 --> 00:07:04 um in line and this young guy
00:07:04 --> 00:07:08 probably about 40 ish you know
00:07:08 --> 00:07:13 he was real cool he started talking to me and everything and he said you look
00:07:13 --> 00:07:19 familiar to me and i said well you know you could be a number of things you
00:07:19 --> 00:07:22 might know me from and then he
00:07:22 --> 00:07:26 said no no no he said i know you from somewhere else I just can't think.
00:07:26 --> 00:07:29 He said, I said, are you from Delaware?
00:07:29 --> 00:07:32 And he said, no, I'm not from here, but I've lived here for a while.
00:07:33 --> 00:07:38 He said, I'm from Philadelphia, but I've been here in Delaware for a while,
00:07:38 --> 00:07:42 but I still do a lot of my business in Philadelphia and everything. And I said, oh, okay.
00:07:42 --> 00:07:46 He said, between Philadelphia and New York, I'm always in one of those two places.
00:07:46 --> 00:07:49 He said, but my house and everything is here in Delaware.
00:07:50 --> 00:07:54 I said, oh, okay. So we're talking a little bit more. The line's moving real
00:07:54 --> 00:07:56 slow. We're doing all this talking.
00:07:57 --> 00:08:01 And I said to him, you know, and I'm in front of him, you know. Right.
00:08:01 --> 00:08:06 So, you know, he was talking about, and he said, man, he said,
00:08:07 --> 00:08:09 you know, Delaware is kind of a fickle place these days.
00:08:09 --> 00:08:12 He said, you know, you don't know where to go.
00:08:12 --> 00:08:16 It's hard to find anything. You know, he said, I'm trying to make some changes
00:08:16 --> 00:08:18 here in Delaware. I said, oh, really, what are you trying to do?
00:08:19 --> 00:08:25 And right as he's getting ready to tell me, he, you know, I finally make it
00:08:25 --> 00:08:28 up to where we are. And he said, well, just be on the lookout.
00:08:28 --> 00:08:32 He said, you'll see some big things happening. I said, oh, okay.
00:08:33 --> 00:08:37 So I go take all my stuff out. It came to like $40, right?
00:08:39 --> 00:08:43 So he tapped me on the shoulder, and he says something else to me.
00:08:43 --> 00:08:45 And I turned around to talk to him.
00:08:45 --> 00:08:49 Well, unbeknownst to me, he slipped his credit card to the cashier,
00:08:50 --> 00:08:53 and he paid for my stuff. Oh, wow.
00:08:54 --> 00:08:59 So I'm like I turned around to go pay for it she said oh it's already paid for
00:08:59 --> 00:09:04 it I said I didn't pay for it and she said no she said the gentleman behind
00:09:04 --> 00:09:09 you did and he starts laughing I was like is this you trying to hit on me what's going on.
00:09:11 --> 00:09:14 He did say he's seeing you around I
00:09:14 --> 00:09:17 know I know I'm getting nervous now Leonard I
00:09:17 --> 00:09:20 said oh well thank you I said you didn't have to do that he said there's
00:09:20 --> 00:09:23 one thing that I've learned over the years and
00:09:23 --> 00:09:26 he said and it comes from one of my favorite movies he
00:09:26 --> 00:09:29 said is to pay it forward i said oh i said yeah i
00:09:29 --> 00:09:32 like that movie too so i know what you're talking about and he said so every
00:09:32 --> 00:09:36 now and then if i meet somebody that's really cool or whatever he said i'll
00:09:36 --> 00:09:40 pay it for it right i said so who are you and he gave me he gave he only gave
00:09:40 --> 00:09:46 me his first name his name was jack he said his name is jack or jackie and i said okay,
00:09:48 --> 00:09:50 I said, nice to meet you. And I told him who I was. He said,
00:09:50 --> 00:09:55 yeah. He said, I know you, though. I do know you. I just can't put my finger
00:09:55 --> 00:09:56 on where I know you're from.
00:09:57 --> 00:10:03 So I said, well, you know, nice meeting you. Thank you for the kind gesture and so forth.
00:10:03 --> 00:10:07 Hopefully one day I can repay you or pay it back to you.
00:10:07 --> 00:10:12 He said, well, you know, he said, maybe I'll see you at one of the things I
00:10:12 --> 00:10:15 was telling you about. I said, okay. Okay. All right, Dave.
00:10:16 --> 00:10:19 You made a friend. Okay, you made a friend. Yeah, I made a friend.
00:10:20 --> 00:10:24 I get in my car. I'm sitting there, and some said, don't pull away right quick.
00:10:27 --> 00:10:29 So, I'm sitting there, and I'm waiting to see what he gets into.
00:10:30 --> 00:10:34 Leonard, he gets into a Rolls Royce. Lies. At the Family Dollar?
00:10:35 --> 00:10:40 He was in the dollar. It had a Pennsylvania plate, and it had the word legend on it.
00:10:42 --> 00:10:46 I don't know what it stood for, but I don't know if he was a ball player.
00:10:47 --> 00:10:50 So you think it was Jackie Robinson Jr.?
00:10:51 --> 00:10:57 No, I don't know who it was, man. I really don't. And I'm married because I didn't get his card.
00:10:57 --> 00:11:00 I didn't think they asked him for his card. But, you know.
00:11:01 --> 00:11:06 But, yeah, he got in a powder blue Rose Royce. Oh, wow.
00:11:07 --> 00:11:12 Well, North Carolina blue. That's what it was. Well, you should Google it.
00:11:13 --> 00:11:18 I might. I might do that after the show because I think of it because I'm curious as to who he was now.
00:11:19 --> 00:11:21 That happened like a week or two ago.
00:11:22 --> 00:11:29 So what was he buying at Family Dollar? He came in there, believe it or not, to get some clippers.
00:11:30 --> 00:11:33 He needed a quick set of clothes. He wanted to trim his beard up,
00:11:34 --> 00:11:36 and he said he was being cheap.
00:11:36 --> 00:11:39 He said, I didn't feel like spending $200 on a pair of clippers.
00:11:39 --> 00:11:44 So he went in there, and he said, these $40 clippers will work for,
00:11:45 --> 00:11:50 All right, well, little is he going to learn those $40 family dollar clippers
00:11:50 --> 00:11:51 are going to cost them $80.
00:11:53 --> 00:11:55 He's going to have to go get another pair somewhere else. Well,
00:11:55 --> 00:11:59 I'm sure the way this, if he's riding around in Rochefort, I'm sure he's got
00:11:59 --> 00:12:01 a nice pair at home. Yeah.
00:12:02 --> 00:12:05 I don't know what he was up to at that particular moment, but he was trying
00:12:05 --> 00:12:06 to get his beard straight.
00:12:07 --> 00:12:11 Yeah, he was trying to pick up a young, hot tenderoni.
00:12:13 --> 00:12:16 Yeah, right. okay anyway let's get
00:12:16 --> 00:12:20 into the show i know
00:12:20 --> 00:12:22 these people probably listen to us say okay what are these two all
00:12:22 --> 00:12:31 right anyway yeah so anyway so our first story let's see i don't know if did
00:12:31 --> 00:12:36 you hear about this story about this young guy i mean i know you just went through
00:12:36 --> 00:12:40 this with your daughter You know, these prom send-offs, man,
00:12:40 --> 00:12:45 Have gotten really out of hand I think we touched base on it a couple weeks ago, too.
00:12:48 --> 00:12:51 And, you know, I understand it's bigger, better,
00:12:52 --> 00:12:57 Who has the most, you know, floss Who does the most floss and whatever And these
00:12:57 --> 00:13:02 kids in these outfits that they wear Nobody wears shoes, hardly anymore Did
00:13:02 --> 00:13:03 you notice the sneakers and so forth?
00:13:03 --> 00:13:07 They spend so much money on these sneakers Everybody's wearing sneakers.
00:13:07 --> 00:13:11 But the jackets and, you know, everything's got the gold embroidery,
00:13:11 --> 00:13:14 embroidery, whatever, you know, it's really something.
00:13:14 --> 00:13:17 Well, I saw this story when it happened.
00:13:18 --> 00:13:22 There was this story that happened out of Saginaw, Michigan.
00:13:23 --> 00:13:28 People mourn Saginaw United High School senior who died in shooting.
00:13:28 --> 00:13:34 I'm going to read this story. It says, Saginaw Police have identified a local
00:13:34 --> 00:13:41 teenager as the victim of a shooting that happened early Friday morning.
00:13:41 --> 00:13:49 This was on the 21st, I think this happened, or whenever that Friday was. The police said...
00:13:50 --> 00:13:57 Officers found that 17-year-old Deion Wiley III shot it in the parking lot of
00:13:57 --> 00:14:03 a party store in the area of South Washington Avenue on Weber Street.
00:14:04 --> 00:14:11 A memorial has been created near his picture in downtown Saginaw, Michigan.
00:14:12 --> 00:14:18 Officers were conducting a traffic stop at 12.15 a.m.
00:14:18 --> 00:14:20 When they heard several gunshots.
00:14:21 --> 00:14:27 Wally was taken to a local hospital where he was later announced dead.
00:14:28 --> 00:14:33 Police believe the shooting happened during a parking lot party where large
00:14:33 --> 00:14:40 groups of people gathered in business parking lots, overtaking the area for social activity.
00:14:41 --> 00:14:47 This is a tragic and senseless act of violence that deeply impacts our community,
00:14:48 --> 00:14:49 the police sergeant said.
00:14:51 --> 00:14:59 Inters like this are heartbreaking for the victim's family, friends, and for the entire city.
00:14:59 --> 00:15:03 Wally was a senior at Saginaw United High School.
00:15:04 --> 00:15:10 Which is in the Saginaw public school system, posted on his Facebook page that
00:15:10 --> 00:15:12 counseling and supportive services
00:15:12 --> 00:15:16 will be made available for the students and staff who may need it.
00:15:17 --> 00:15:20 Our thoughts are with the students' family, friends, classmates,
00:15:20 --> 00:15:27 and the entire Saginaw United community during this incredibly difficult time.
00:15:28 --> 00:15:33 A second man was also injured in the shooting. Police said he arrived at the
00:15:33 --> 00:15:37 local hospital in a personal vehicle.
00:15:38 --> 00:15:41 He is currently listed at instable condition.
00:15:42 --> 00:15:48 Saginaw Police and Michigan State Police detectives from the major case units
00:15:48 --> 00:15:51 are investigating the incident.
00:15:51 --> 00:15:56 At the time, there was no suspect in custody. Okay.
00:15:56 --> 00:16:02 So they were asking for anyone who had information to let the authorities know.
00:16:02 --> 00:16:06 Now, that's the aftermath of the story.
00:16:06 --> 00:16:16 But what happened leading up to this was this kid and his partner did a send-off
00:16:16 --> 00:16:20 to the prom. So this happened after the prom.
00:16:20 --> 00:16:25 They did a send-off for the prom earlier. and then there was a video that went
00:16:25 --> 00:16:31 viral of him and his partner and they had a stack of money letting it look like
00:16:31 --> 00:16:33 maybe 20 G's in their hand.
00:16:33 --> 00:16:36 I mean, it may have been a bunch of ones or whatever in there,
00:16:37 --> 00:16:38 but it just was a big stack.
00:16:38 --> 00:16:42 I mean, you know, and they're flashing it all on social media and whatever.
00:16:43 --> 00:16:46 And, you know, they're flashing their outfits and everything.
00:16:46 --> 00:16:53 And, you know, you know, and it's it's I think if you know, I know a lot of
00:16:53 --> 00:16:57 people have seen it, but if you punch his name and you'll see what he had on
00:16:57 --> 00:17:00 and and what he was flashing, whatever.
00:17:00 --> 00:17:04 So a lot of people think that he was killed because of the video,
00:17:04 --> 00:17:09 because people and they said that money was taken from him that that day.
00:17:09 --> 00:17:13 Damn so now you know
00:17:13 --> 00:17:16 these send-offs have become
00:17:16 --> 00:17:19 so crazy and so elaborate i
00:17:19 --> 00:17:23 was watching one when i was looking for the story and
00:17:23 --> 00:17:26 where this one kid pops out the back of an
00:17:26 --> 00:17:29 army vehicle i saw that did you see
00:17:29 --> 00:17:31 that yeah yeah you saw that okay with the
00:17:31 --> 00:17:35 red and it was red carpet steps and everything i
00:17:35 --> 00:17:40 was like what in the world you know so this is what's going on out here folks
00:17:40 --> 00:17:46 i mean and the cars i read another story where kids are going to the problem
00:17:46 --> 00:17:51 in a bentley and they left the prom to go to the after prom and somebody was
00:17:51 --> 00:17:53 following somebody hijacked them and took the car.
00:17:54 --> 00:17:59 You know, so this is the kind of stuff that's going on. And I know you just
00:17:59 --> 00:18:03 went through a send-off with your daughter and so forth.
00:18:03 --> 00:18:07 I mean, what's your thought, you know, since you have a teenager that just went
00:18:07 --> 00:18:11 through all of this, what's your thoughts about all of these send-offs and the way they're done?
00:18:11 --> 00:18:14 And then also the way the kids are dressed now.
00:18:14 --> 00:18:19 That's another story, too, because. Yeah, I mean, I think it's really weird.
00:18:19 --> 00:18:23 And I mean, maybe only weird because, you know, when I was growing up,
00:18:24 --> 00:18:27 you know, prom send-offs didn't look like what they look like now.
00:18:27 --> 00:18:32 I will say I feel like a lot of them are too excessive.
00:18:32 --> 00:18:39 And I just say excessive. Like, I always think, you know, okay, some of these.
00:18:41 --> 00:18:44 I'm trying to say politically correct without saying like, like,
00:18:44 --> 00:18:50 like, uh, like a, uh, uncle, uncle parent.
00:18:50 --> 00:18:56 Yeah. Kind of like, kind of like a, a Tim Reed or a Herschel Walker or a,
00:18:56 --> 00:18:59 what, what's the black Supreme Court?
00:18:59 --> 00:19:01 Oh yeah.
00:19:02 --> 00:19:02 And Tim Scott.
00:19:04 --> 00:19:10 So they, I, when I see all these videos, I always question what's these people?
00:19:10 --> 00:19:11 Go ahead and say it. Go ahead and say it.
00:19:12 --> 00:19:14 What's their GPAs? Are they graduating?
00:19:15 --> 00:19:20 Are they good students? And then even farther more, you know,
00:19:20 --> 00:19:23 do their parents have money to be spending? There you go.
00:19:25 --> 00:19:27 That's the story right there, Leonard. That's the story. Yeah,
00:19:27 --> 00:19:31 on these tanks, on these camels, on these horses.
00:19:32 --> 00:19:35 Oh, you saw the one with the camel too? I saw that too. Yeah.
00:19:35 --> 00:19:39 And there was one, I didn't see it, but I heard about it. someone had rented
00:19:39 --> 00:19:46 a helicopter to land on like a field close to the school and I got a...
00:19:46 --> 00:19:50 Well, this kid that got... This kid here was the kid... Did you hear about the plane?
00:19:51 --> 00:19:54 The one that was... There was a plane and a... No.
00:19:55 --> 00:19:58 Well, this kid had a plane. Yeah, man. That's crazy.
00:19:59 --> 00:20:03 They said... But later on, they said it was just a prop. But they...
00:20:03 --> 00:20:07 They said it was a prop. But the fact that they're using it... Right.
00:20:08 --> 00:20:14 You know, so, I mean, you always gotta, I mean, okay, so, all right,
00:20:14 --> 00:20:15 here's the controversy.
00:20:16 --> 00:20:19 Let's talk about it. Who's fault?
00:20:20 --> 00:20:25 Who's really at blame when it comes to this kid's, what led up to this kid dying?
00:20:26 --> 00:20:30 Is it the kid? Sound like you guys say the parents. Go ahead.
00:20:32 --> 00:20:36 We already know where you're going with this. Well, okay.
00:20:37 --> 00:20:47 I don't want to sound insensitive when it comes to parents losing a kid or a child.
00:20:48 --> 00:20:56 That's not where I want to go with this. But, you know, when you allow children to show off,
00:20:57 --> 00:21:04 because that's what it is, you know, and a lot of it is, you know,
00:21:04 --> 00:21:09 I know I wouldn't let any of my kids walk around with a stack of money in their
00:21:09 --> 00:21:12 hand on camera. I'm just not going to do that.
00:21:12 --> 00:21:19 Okay. And I'm going to do everything I can to deter them from doing it or not
00:21:19 --> 00:21:21 even thinking about it, you know,
00:21:21 --> 00:21:28 because you become a target as soon as you do that, okay?
00:21:28 --> 00:21:31 Some of these kids are walking around with thousands and thousands and thousands
00:21:31 --> 00:21:33 of dollars of jewelry on.
00:21:34 --> 00:21:38 Okay, celebrities are getting robbed at gunpoint for their chains.
00:21:39 --> 00:21:45 And you got your kid walking around with thousands and thousands of dollars of jewelry on? Right.
00:21:45 --> 00:21:51 You know, so sometimes you just got to be smart about it. There was no social
00:21:51 --> 00:21:53 media when you went to the prom.
00:21:53 --> 00:21:56 There was no social media when I went to the prom, you know.
00:21:56 --> 00:22:02 So we, you know, we, and I remember my send-off was a few people at the house
00:22:02 --> 00:22:04 taking pictures. Uh-huh.
00:22:05 --> 00:22:08 Okay sure yours was similar to that too so
00:22:08 --> 00:22:11 nowadays man you know if it's
00:22:11 --> 00:22:14 not on social media if it's not on tiktok it's not on
00:22:14 --> 00:22:17 instagram or one of these other places well then you
00:22:17 --> 00:22:21 just did something that wasn't that was boring right you
00:22:21 --> 00:22:24 know you know so we have to be cognizant of
00:22:24 --> 00:22:27 what what's going on with these kids we got to make sure and
00:22:27 --> 00:22:30 then even with the graduations now do you see all
00:22:30 --> 00:22:33 the stuff that's going on at graduation when these kids are
00:22:33 --> 00:22:36 walking across the stage you got you you know
00:22:36 --> 00:22:39 you got people college the college students are
00:22:39 --> 00:22:42 breaking out in the full step you know
00:22:42 --> 00:22:45 from their fraternities or sororities you
00:22:45 --> 00:22:52 got kids you know one kid took the mic as he was walking past the stage took
00:22:52 --> 00:22:57 the mic and started rapping right eight mile he started doing eight uh the the
00:22:57 --> 00:23:04 m&m song lose yourself he started doing lose yourself and he said i lost myself, but I found myself.
00:23:04 --> 00:23:07 That's what he called it. I lost myself, but I found myself.
00:23:07 --> 00:23:12 And you can see the dean of students looking at him like, boy, give me that mic back.
00:23:13 --> 00:23:20 You know, so this is, you know, anything for a moment, man. That's what everybody's doing.
00:23:20 --> 00:23:23 Anything for a moment. So we got to be careful, folks.
00:23:23 --> 00:23:27 We got to make sure our kids are protected, even from themselves.
00:23:28 --> 00:23:29 They have to be protected.
00:23:30 --> 00:23:33 And, you know, hopefully we don't
00:23:33 --> 00:23:37 have more tragedies to happen like what happened up there in Saginaw.
00:23:39 --> 00:23:44 Prayers out to the families, you know, and the friends up there.
00:23:44 --> 00:23:45 I mean, nobody wants to hear about.
00:23:46 --> 00:23:49 And this was like a week or so before his graduation.
00:23:50 --> 00:23:52 So he didn't get a chance to walk.
00:23:55 --> 00:23:59 So sad, but just wanted to make sure I mentioned that.
00:24:00 --> 00:24:07 All right, I'm going to move on to our next story. I saw this and you always
00:24:07 --> 00:24:11 wonder what makes a people makes a person make a decision,
00:24:12 --> 00:24:19 to let the world in on who they really are and especially someone who has quite
00:24:19 --> 00:24:24 a bit of notoriety so I saw this story about Queen Latifah explains why she
00:24:24 --> 00:24:30 decided to come out it's not always that deep she says so I saw this,
00:24:31 --> 00:24:39 For years, fans and media outlets speculated about Queen Latifah's personal life.
00:24:39 --> 00:24:44 But according to the Grammy-winning rapper, actress, and producer,
00:24:45 --> 00:24:53 the moment many viewed her as public coming out was never intended to be a major declaration.
00:24:54 --> 00:24:59 During a recent conversation with Angie Martinez, Queen Latifah addressed the
00:24:59 --> 00:25:04 attention surrounding her acknowledgement of longtime partner Ebony Nichols
00:25:04 --> 00:25:10 during her 2021 BET Lifetime Achievement acceptance speech.
00:25:10 --> 00:25:14 The Hollywood icon said, I remember this when this happened,
00:25:14 --> 00:25:20 by the way, said the decision was far less complicated than many people assume.
00:25:20 --> 00:25:23 It was really simple, Latifah
00:25:23 --> 00:25:27 explained It's not always that deep A lifetime
00:25:27 --> 00:25:34 achieving award and lifetime of support The discussion centered around Latifah's
00:25:34 --> 00:25:40 memorable BET award speech Where she thanked Nichols and their son While accepting
00:25:40 --> 00:25:45 one of the network's highest honors For many viewers,
00:25:45 --> 00:25:50 it was the first time to start publicly referenced her family in such a way.
00:25:51 --> 00:25:55 Looking back, Latifah said she simply wanted to recognize the people who had
00:25:55 --> 00:25:56 been part of her journey.
00:25:57 --> 00:26:02 I was getting a Lifetime Achievement Award, and I didn't want to leave out the
00:26:02 --> 00:26:05 people who were part of my lifetime.
00:26:05 --> 00:26:10 Rather than viewing the moment as a public announcement, Latifah described it
00:26:10 --> 00:26:15 as a natural expression of gratitude towards loved ones who had supported her throughout her career.
00:26:16 --> 00:26:22 Queen Latifah has long been known to maintain a clear boundary between her public
00:26:22 --> 00:26:24 career and her personal life.
00:26:24 --> 00:26:28 Throughout her decades in the spotlight, she rarely addressed questions about
00:26:28 --> 00:26:36 her relationships, despite the constant speculation from fans and entertainment media.
00:26:36 --> 00:26:41 In the interviews, she explained that her choice to remain private was intentional
00:26:41 --> 00:26:45 as one of the most recognizable women in the world.
00:26:45 --> 00:26:50 Latifah says she never felt obligated to provide details about her personal
00:26:50 --> 00:26:53 relationships, simply because the public was curious.
00:26:54 --> 00:26:57 That approach has remained consistent throughout her career.
00:26:57 --> 00:27:02 That included chart-topping music, blockbuster films, television success,
00:27:02 --> 00:27:04 and numerous accolades.
00:27:04 --> 00:27:10 While audiences have watched her evolve professionally, she has largely kept
00:27:10 --> 00:27:13 her family life out of the spotlight.
00:27:15 --> 00:27:23 So i'm gonna leave it there do you think that people have to disclose who they are,
00:27:24 --> 00:27:28 because they are celebrities so i
00:27:28 --> 00:27:30 mean i would say no you know i think a lot of celebrities
00:27:30 --> 00:27:34 want to stay on kind of hidden anyway
00:27:34 --> 00:27:37 and i think for queen latifah i
00:27:37 --> 00:27:40 feel like she's been in spotlight so long like nobody really
00:27:40 --> 00:27:43 questions it too hard where i think if
00:27:43 --> 00:27:46 she was new and on the scene people may
00:27:46 --> 00:27:55 question it a little bit more and and let me see since you know even though
00:27:55 --> 00:27:59 she don't talk about it you know you can just go on and google who she's with
00:27:59 --> 00:28:04 and it comes up so it's not like she's hiding anything i feel like you know
00:28:04 --> 00:28:06 once people find out they're probably like oh,
00:28:07 --> 00:28:13 Yeah. You know, it's interesting because I know she's, it's been speculation
00:28:13 --> 00:28:20 about her for years about her private life.
00:28:21 --> 00:28:28 And even on screen, you know, even the interaction she would have with males
00:28:28 --> 00:28:30 on screen was definitely.
00:28:32 --> 00:28:38 Definitely, you know, definitely shot in a way that you, you know,
00:28:39 --> 00:28:46 you wouldn't think that she had the life that she did, but then it also kind
00:28:46 --> 00:28:50 of gave credence to those who knew that, you know, because she wasn't out here
00:28:50 --> 00:28:53 doing anything, you know, wild and crazy, you know, on camera itself.
00:28:54 --> 00:29:00 I know there was a little joke that people used to make comments about when
00:29:00 --> 00:29:03 she had her show, The Equalizer, on TV,
00:29:04 --> 00:29:10 which was modeled after Denzel's character, The Equalizer.
00:29:11 --> 00:29:19 She was like the female version of him. And she had this on-screen affair with
00:29:19 --> 00:29:22 a police captain on the show.
00:29:23 --> 00:29:27 And you could tell they really liked each other but there never was a love scene
00:29:27 --> 00:29:31 between them until like when the show went off you know what i mean so which
00:29:31 --> 00:29:35 was perfect timing because then she didn't have to answer a lot of questions about that so.
00:29:37 --> 00:29:40 But, you know, for somebody like her that has the respect in everything that
00:29:40 --> 00:29:43 she does, she's done so many different things.
00:29:43 --> 00:29:46 She has put so many people on.
00:29:46 --> 00:29:50 I know the American Music Awards was on last night. She was the host,
00:29:50 --> 00:29:54 and I was watching some of it.
00:29:54 --> 00:30:01 And Buster Rhymes was on there presenting an award, and he talked about her.
00:30:01 --> 00:30:05 And he talked about how if it wasn't for her.
00:30:06 --> 00:30:12 That his career may not have ever been able to be what it became because he
00:30:12 --> 00:30:19 said that she was a big mentor to him, you know, and that she put on a lot of people, you know.
00:30:20 --> 00:30:24 So when you have that kind of credibility and whatever, you know,
00:30:25 --> 00:30:30 and you handle yourself with class because she's never been a messy person, right.
00:30:30 --> 00:30:36 You know, so I think that's why people have respected her and her privacy so
00:30:36 --> 00:30:40 much, because she didn't have herself out there, you know, where people can.
00:30:40 --> 00:30:45 I mean, you know, when you look at a Cardi B whose life is in the news all the
00:30:45 --> 00:30:46 time, you know what I mean?
00:30:47 --> 00:30:51 Or a Nicki Minaj or somebody like that. You know, Queen always kept herself
00:30:51 --> 00:30:53 her stuff private. Always did.
00:30:54 --> 00:30:58 So when she made that when she made that announcement that night, I remember seeing it.
00:30:59 --> 00:31:03 And, you know, I mean, it's not like it was a shock to a lot of people,
00:31:03 --> 00:31:07 you know, it was just the fact that she did it, you know, because that was the
00:31:07 --> 00:31:09 first time she ever did that, you know, so.
00:31:10 --> 00:31:15 But, you know, but, you know, the only time I think that it becomes a real hassle
00:31:15 --> 00:31:19 for celebrities or even athletes, because, you know,
00:31:19 --> 00:31:26 recently there was a guy named John Collins, former basketball player in the NBA.
00:31:26 --> 00:31:31 He came out while he was still playing as gay, openly gay.
00:31:31 --> 00:31:35 He was the only person to ever admit at that time.
00:31:37 --> 00:31:46 That he was gay. And he took a big risk, especially as an athlete.
00:31:46 --> 00:31:51 And you got to be careful when some people will accept it and some people won't.
00:31:51 --> 00:31:53 But it all depends on how you handle it.
00:31:54 --> 00:31:57 And Queen Batifah's always handled it in the right way.
00:31:58 --> 00:32:04 So that's great. So I just wanted to bring that story up as far as how you handle
00:32:04 --> 00:32:07 those types of situations. I mean, you've done a good job with it, Leonard.
00:32:07 --> 00:32:10 So don't worry about it. So moving on.
00:32:13 --> 00:32:17 Leonard's over there shaking his head. Oh, Shane. Yeah, I know.
00:32:18 --> 00:32:24 The next story, our favorite doctor, who's not a doctor, to talk about, okay?
00:32:26 --> 00:32:31 Softie, Cheyenne Bryant faces new backlash after resurfaced.
00:32:31 --> 00:32:36 Ture clip sparks criticism over masculinity remarks.
00:32:37 --> 00:32:43 Now, I would love to have been able to play this clip, but we can't play it
00:32:43 --> 00:32:45 because it's just, you know, Dr.
00:32:46 --> 00:32:52 Bryant goes off a little bit on the clip. And, you know, but I don't know if
00:32:52 --> 00:32:53 you guys have seen this clip.
00:32:53 --> 00:32:57 Now, the clip is not a new clip. It actually is an older clip.
00:32:57 --> 00:33:02 But it's been resurfacing because now, of course, Dr.
00:33:02 --> 00:33:09 Bryant has a lot of controversy around her name right now because a lot of people
00:33:09 --> 00:33:16 are questioning her credentials and been questioning her credentials for a while.
00:33:16 --> 00:33:19 So, I'm going to read the story here.
00:33:19 --> 00:33:30 So, it says here, an older clip from Fox Soul Truth Talks featuring Shana Cheyenne
00:33:30 --> 00:33:32 Bryant and journalist Toure,
00:33:32 --> 00:33:36 who resurfaced online around midweek,
00:33:37 --> 00:33:39 the scrutiny over Bryant's credentials.
00:33:39 --> 00:33:49 Her lack of therapy license and the work as a public-facing wellness and relationship
00:33:49 --> 00:33:52 expert, the clip does not...
00:33:53 --> 00:33:57 Appeared to have been newly released by Toure himself.
00:33:58 --> 00:34:06 Rather, it began circulating as Bryant's credibility was already being debated across social media.
00:34:07 --> 00:34:12 In the resurfaced exchange, Bryant and Toure appeared to class during a conversation
00:34:12 --> 00:34:17 about gentle parenting and masculinity.
00:34:17 --> 00:34:24 What has drawn renewed criticism is not simply that the two disagree,
00:34:25 --> 00:34:29 online critics took issue with Bryant using words like feminine,
00:34:30 --> 00:34:39 gentle, and softy towards Tourette in a way that viewers interpreted as insulting.
00:34:40 --> 00:34:44 That language quickly became its own controversy.
00:34:44 --> 00:34:51 Some viewers argued that Bryant's remarks appeared to frame softness or femininity
00:34:51 --> 00:34:55 in a man as something shameful.
00:34:55 --> 00:35:04 Others accused her of leaning on patriarchal ideals about masculinity.
00:35:04 --> 00:35:09 At the same time, she has built a public brand around healing relationships.
00:35:10 --> 00:35:13 Accountability, and emotional wellness.
00:35:13 --> 00:35:20 That is why the clip is landing so sharply now for Brian's critics for the resurfaced
00:35:20 --> 00:35:24 moments does not exist in isolation.
00:35:24 --> 00:35:31 It arrives while she is already facing questions about the authority behind
00:35:31 --> 00:35:33 her advice and the way she presents herself.
00:35:35 --> 00:35:44 It says, Brian has been under scrutiny after revealing she does not have a license to practice therapy.
00:35:44 --> 00:35:50 In a May 14th article, we reported that, this is the Griot,
00:35:51 --> 00:35:57 reported that Brian defended her use of the doctor title, saying her proof is
00:35:57 --> 00:36:05 reflected in her credentials, degrees, and effectiveness of her work.
00:36:05 --> 00:36:12 He also says she has multiple degrees and is not going to prove anything to anybody.
00:36:12 --> 00:36:18 Brian has maintained that she is not a therapist, but a psychology expert and a life coach.
00:36:18 --> 00:36:24 Still, the distinction has not quieted criticism, especially from licensed mental
00:36:24 --> 00:36:32 health professionals and others who say titles matter when someone is offering healing,
00:36:32 --> 00:36:38 relationship, and self-improvement advice to the public. I'm going to stop there.
00:36:39 --> 00:36:45 You know everything that's going on with her and her titles and whether doctor
00:36:45 --> 00:36:53 is appropriate to use and then the advice that she's been given.
00:36:53 --> 00:36:58 What's your thoughts on Dr. Cheyenne Bryant and the way that she does her business?
00:36:59 --> 00:37:03 Whether she should be giving out the advice that she does without having the
00:37:03 --> 00:37:07 credentials to do it according to what is being said?
00:37:07 --> 00:37:10 So I think it's kind of mixed reactions. I mean...
00:37:11 --> 00:37:16 I feel like being on the internet, lying about saying you're a doctor when you're not a doctor is big.
00:37:17 --> 00:37:20 It's probably something that's very easily provable.
00:37:21 --> 00:37:25 So, you know, I don't know how long she thought she was going to make this run
00:37:25 --> 00:37:29 for, but it looks like this run may be just about over.
00:37:31 --> 00:37:35 But, you know, then on the flip side, you know, so Frank, I've been reading
00:37:35 --> 00:37:40 some memes and they're like, well, no, she is a real doctor, just like Dr. Pepper.
00:37:42 --> 00:37:47 Dr. Dr. Dre, Dr. Dre. Yeah, yeah.
00:37:47 --> 00:37:51 So it's kind of like these are all people who kind of claim that name doctor.
00:37:52 --> 00:37:58 But I'm just curious, you know, she could have done a lot of stuff without saying,
00:37:58 --> 00:38:02 yes, I have my, you know, whatever the most official thing she said.
00:38:03 --> 00:38:07 Because you know i feel like once you say you have your license that's
00:38:07 --> 00:38:09 when the haters are going to go out and they're going to look you
00:38:09 --> 00:38:12 up see where you got it from when you got it
00:38:12 --> 00:38:20 how old you are all that yeah so yep if she had just you know switched up something
00:38:20 --> 00:38:25 like you know maybe just didn't even say she'd license you know nobody dave
00:38:25 --> 00:38:30 we we still would have been falling for this time. And when I say we, I mean you.
00:38:31 --> 00:38:41 Well, I don't know because, you know, nowadays with psychology and life coaching and, you know,
00:38:42 --> 00:38:47 psychoanalytics and all of this kind of stuff, you know, you still have to be
00:38:47 --> 00:38:53 careful because we have so many people going through so many things on a mental level.
00:38:53 --> 00:38:59 The mental illness and all of the, Issues that we're having with our young people
00:38:59 --> 00:39:02 all the way up to adults and so forth.
00:39:02 --> 00:39:08 It is really scary right now because we have so many people in need.
00:39:08 --> 00:39:10 I mean, you know...
00:39:12 --> 00:39:15 Look at what's going on in the city of Wilmington and, you know,
00:39:15 --> 00:39:18 what's going on over in Tent City.
00:39:18 --> 00:39:22 I mean, you know, I'm sure, you know, there were some people over there that,
00:39:22 --> 00:39:29 you know, they tried to move and didn't want to move because this is where they wanted to be.
00:39:29 --> 00:39:33 You know, they didn't want to be in society because they didn't feel that they
00:39:33 --> 00:39:36 can cope. There's a lot of people that feel that way, you know.
00:39:37 --> 00:39:44 You meet somebody like a Cheyenne Brian who says all the right things and sure as a life coach,
00:39:45 --> 00:39:50 you know you can she can say a lot of the stuff that she says if she says she
00:39:50 --> 00:39:55 was a life coach but you can't but she was out there saying she's a doctor and
00:39:55 --> 00:39:57 that's what's gotten her into
00:39:57 --> 00:40:00 the hot water that she's in because she said she was a doctor of course,
00:40:01 --> 00:40:05 you know they go and they go and check on her stuff and they find out the school
00:40:05 --> 00:40:12 that she supposedly got her her her paperwork from is no longer in existence
00:40:12 --> 00:40:14 anymore you know and then,
00:40:15 --> 00:40:21 you know they do say that she has a couple degrees you know but she doesn't
00:40:21 --> 00:40:27 have a phd right you know and you know we got too many people walking around
00:40:27 --> 00:40:31 saying doctor now you know and calling themselves doctors,
00:40:31 --> 00:40:34 and we have to be real careful with the people.
00:40:35 --> 00:40:40 Because nowadays, it's right at your fingertip. You can check on anything that you want to check on.
00:40:40 --> 00:40:44 Right. You can find out whatever you want to find out. If you want to know if
00:40:44 --> 00:40:47 this person is a licensed doctor or whatever the case may be,
00:40:48 --> 00:40:50 you can go right online and find out for sure.
00:40:51 --> 00:40:54 You know, and that's what people started doing when they started seeing it.
00:40:54 --> 00:41:00 But, you know, I've seen quite a few interviews with her over the last six or seven months. I'd say.
00:41:02 --> 00:41:06 What makes her look bad is because she gets very defensive when you ask her
00:41:06 --> 00:41:08 questions. Have you ever noticed that?
00:41:09 --> 00:41:14 You know, you can't ask her. If you ask more than two or three probing questions,
00:41:15 --> 00:41:19 she's definitely going to change her attitude, and she's definitely going to
00:41:19 --> 00:41:26 go on the defense and, you know, in trying to not answer your questions or whatever.
00:41:27 --> 00:41:31 In that interview with Ture, she got very defensive, And yes,
00:41:32 --> 00:41:35 she was calling out masculinity. She was calling out femininity.
00:41:36 --> 00:41:40 And, you know, and labeled him that way too because she called him soft and
00:41:40 --> 00:41:43 everything. Did you check that out? I did. Yeah.
00:41:43 --> 00:41:48 So, you know, and that interview went off the rails real quick.
00:41:48 --> 00:41:56 You know, it's really a shame because we're in, now this is the scary thing
00:41:56 --> 00:41:58 though, Leonard, because if you have people,
00:41:59 --> 00:42:02 and i don't want to say this is her i don't
00:42:02 --> 00:42:05 want to i don't want to say this is what she's doing but i'm
00:42:05 --> 00:42:08 sure there's a lot of people out there calling themselves doctors or
00:42:08 --> 00:42:14 life coaches or whatever who's making a lot of money off of people just because
00:42:14 --> 00:42:20 they say that's what they they are yeah no i agree you know and and it's scary
00:42:20 --> 00:42:25 because if you get the right group of people or the right customers or clients
00:42:25 --> 00:42:28 or patients to be a part of that,
00:42:29 --> 00:42:32 you could make yourself a pretty decent living.
00:42:33 --> 00:42:38 And that's what a lot of people, I guess, are worried about might have happened
00:42:38 --> 00:42:46 with her is that she's made a big living off of people by using the term doctor.
00:42:47 --> 00:42:50 Yeah, I'm sure. But, folks, you got to do your research.
00:42:51 --> 00:42:54 You definitely got to do your research. There's a lot of hurting people out
00:42:54 --> 00:42:57 there. There's a lot of mentally confused people out there.
00:42:57 --> 00:43:02 There's a lot of people with mental illness out there. You got to do your research
00:43:02 --> 00:43:06 to make sure that the people that you are dealing with are definitely legit.
00:43:07 --> 00:43:12 Because otherwise, you might find yourself spending a bunch of money for nothing.
00:43:13 --> 00:43:16 And that's the last thing you want to do, especially in this economy.
00:43:17 --> 00:43:23 Anything else you got to say about that? No, I mean, I think that's it.
00:43:23 --> 00:43:28 You know, when you tell lies on such a public media, somebody will find out.
00:43:28 --> 00:43:29 Definitely going to find out.
00:43:29 --> 00:43:35 It's not going to go away, especially with social media and everything.
00:43:36 --> 00:43:40 I mean, every time I turn around, I'm seeing people talking about her.
00:43:41 --> 00:43:46 And I remember when she was on the Real Housewives series. She was always getting
00:43:46 --> 00:43:48 into it with somebody on there, too.
00:43:51 --> 00:43:55 So, yeah, people, do your due diligence. Do your research.
00:43:55 --> 00:44:01 Make sure that you have everything in order when it comes to knowing the people
00:44:01 --> 00:44:04 that you're dealing with or the people, especially the people you're paying,
00:44:05 --> 00:44:09 to help you and making sure that they are legit.
00:44:10 --> 00:44:12 Okay? Definitely.
00:44:13 --> 00:44:17 All right. I guess that brings us to Leonard's favorite part of the show.
00:44:17 --> 00:44:19 All right. Good night. Goodbye, everyone.
00:44:21 --> 00:44:26 Which is Dave's corner. He always looks forward to this As you can see He tried
00:44:26 --> 00:44:30 to let you guys know That he was ready just now.
00:44:31 --> 00:44:36 So this is a simple, this is a real simple question, and I ain't make it too hard for you.
00:44:36 --> 00:44:44 With gas prices, what they are now, has your thoughts changed about gas vehicles
00:44:44 --> 00:44:49 versus electric vehicles and why? So here we are.
00:44:50 --> 00:44:54 We're looking at gas prices here in Delaware, the highest they've been in a
00:44:54 --> 00:44:59 very long time, or maybe ever, because I saw a gas, what was it,
00:44:59 --> 00:45:02 435 last week? I don't think I've ever seen it that high.
00:45:03 --> 00:45:06 Well, no, we almost went to $5 once almost. Yeah.
00:45:07 --> 00:45:14 So, but if you had the money right now, and you were thinking about your next
00:45:14 --> 00:45:18 vehicle, would it be a gas vehicle? Would it be an EV vehicle?
00:45:19 --> 00:45:21 My next vehicle would be a gas vehicle.
00:45:21 --> 00:45:26 And I just, you know, I'm not trusting the electric cars yet.
00:45:26 --> 00:45:30 I mean, I do think in the, now I've only driven a Tesla once and I thought it
00:45:30 --> 00:45:32 was really, really nice driving.
00:45:33 --> 00:45:37 But, you know, I'm still okay with my gas vehicle.
00:45:37 --> 00:45:45 I don't feel that pressure to switch over. So I'm going to stick with old Betty, the gas guzzler.
00:45:46 --> 00:45:48 Now, would you go to a hybrid that was both?
00:45:49 --> 00:45:52 Maybe, but I'm not rushing it. Okay.
00:45:53 --> 00:45:57 You know, I feel like I would probably have to find the car I like first,
00:45:57 --> 00:46:02 and then it just happens to be a hybrid rather than, you know,
00:46:02 --> 00:46:06 okay, let me see what hybrid I can find. Yeah.
00:46:06 --> 00:46:11 You know, my thinking on this. Well, hold on, Dave. What about you?
00:46:11 --> 00:46:18 With gas prices the way they are now, have your thoughts about gas vehicles
00:46:18 --> 00:46:24 versus electric vehicles changed in any way? And if so, why?
00:46:25 --> 00:46:26 Well, piss your ass.
00:46:28 --> 00:46:34 You know, my thinking on this is, I guess I have a couple of different thoughts on it.
00:46:34 --> 00:46:38 I think, you know, it's hard to, you know, being old school,
00:46:38 --> 00:46:42 it's hard to get away from gas, and especially if you have a car that you've
00:46:42 --> 00:46:47 been driving for a while, you know exactly how far you can go and so forth and so forth.
00:46:47 --> 00:46:52 Of course, you know, the gas prices, you know, now, you know,
00:46:52 --> 00:47:00 What used to cost you $30 or $35 to fill up your tank might cost you $50 to $55 now, you know?
00:47:01 --> 00:47:08 But I still think, and I guess I'm still old school, I think I still want a gas vehicle as well.
00:47:09 --> 00:47:15 The EV vehicles are cool or whatever. I just don't think they're built for long-distance traveling.
00:47:15 --> 00:47:19 Right. Because you got to make sure you get to the charging stations,
00:47:19 --> 00:47:21 and then you got different type of charging stations.
00:47:22 --> 00:47:26 And some vehicles you can't charge at electric vehicles.
00:47:26 --> 00:47:34 You know, you got to go to, like, you can't take a Tesla and charge it on certain places.
00:47:34 --> 00:47:39 You can't go to the electric pumps at certain places and use it and pull up
00:47:39 --> 00:47:42 with your Tesla. You got to have the right type of vehicle.
00:47:43 --> 00:47:47 You know, electric pump that's going to, you know, charge your car.
00:47:47 --> 00:47:51 And then you got the ones that are free, and then you got the ones that you pay for.
00:47:51 --> 00:47:55 And, I mean, and with electric prices, eventually I think if everybody goes
00:47:55 --> 00:47:58 to EV, then all of a sudden they're
00:47:58 --> 00:48:03 going to jump, the charging rates are going to go way up, you know.
00:48:04 --> 00:48:08 So, and I still think it would be cheaper to have a gas vehicle.
00:48:08 --> 00:48:15 So, I'm not ready to go that route yet. Plus, I'm going to make sure that I
00:48:15 --> 00:48:17 can get to where I'm going.
00:48:18 --> 00:48:23 Because with gas, you kind of have an idea how far you can go with gas. You know what I mean?
00:48:25 --> 00:48:29 But you guys, give us your thoughts on that. I know a lot of people out here
00:48:29 --> 00:48:33 driving EV vehicles. I know our buddy Tim Dog, he drives one.
00:48:33 --> 00:48:37 I know he's always called me when he's at a charging station.
00:48:37 --> 00:48:40 I know that gets a little frustrating after a period of time,
00:48:40 --> 00:48:46 too. So, you know, so, but anyway, for those that have EV vehicles, are you happy?
00:48:47 --> 00:48:51 Are you, you know, are you staying with it or you missed a guess?
00:48:51 --> 00:48:54 Or for those that have guessed, are you thinking about going that route?
00:48:54 --> 00:48:56 So let us know what you think.
00:48:57 --> 00:49:01 All right. All right. I guess that's our show for this week.
00:49:01 --> 00:49:07 We got the Black Music Festival coming up down at Mr. Leonard Young's campground.
00:49:08 --> 00:49:13 Sure you can go online to Sam Bailey's website he'll be on the show with us
00:49:13 --> 00:49:20 next week talking about it you can go to his page and check it out but it should
00:49:20 --> 00:49:21 be a good time and everybody,
00:49:23 --> 00:49:28 all we need is to make sure the weather holds up you know but we're not even
00:49:28 --> 00:49:29 going to worry about it so,
00:49:31 --> 00:49:35 we'll see you guys down there June the 6th,
00:49:36 --> 00:49:40 All right. And fifth, sixth, and seventh, I guess you got something going on
00:49:40 --> 00:49:42 in each one of those days, right? Yeah.
00:49:43 --> 00:49:48 Yeah. All right. So we'll see you guys soon, and we'll talk to you guys soon.
00:49:48 --> 00:49:52 Next week, ladies and gentlemen, for another edition of News and Trends with
00:49:52 --> 00:49:54 your host, Dave and Lynn.
