[00:00:00] All right, so get ready for another edition of News and Trendz with your host Dave and Len.

[00:00:22] Welcome, welcome, welcome, the news and trends with Dave and Len.

[00:00:37] This is Dave Coker, one of your hosts, a provider of Dave Mark Inc., promoter, event planner,

[00:00:48] specialist, all around genius, all around good guy.

[00:00:53] You know, I could put a whole bunch of spirulatives about myself but you know,

[00:00:58] I let my partner do that. Anyway, I'm hanging out with my partner Mr. Lenard Young.

[00:01:03] What's going on? Hey Dave, everything is good. This is Lenard Young who always keeps it true,

[00:01:08] accurate and real, CBO, CBO, national black guy, dillowablai.com, black media specialist and all

[00:01:18] around good guy. Dave, everything is good. I thought about you yesterday. I was like,

[00:01:24] I wasn't going to call you but I was like, you know what?

[00:01:26] No, no, you didn't want to call me yet Dave. I was fit to be tied. I'm still

[00:01:31] little people trying to talk to me today at Workman. And I work with a bunch of cowboy fans.

[00:01:37] There's a lot of cowboy fans at my time. Yeah, so of course, you know, I had to hear from them and

[00:01:44] they were probably waiting for you to get out the car like, hey, concert.

[00:01:48] Yeah, it was, it was bad man. It really was. But I mean, you know, I mean,

[00:01:56] that team that waiting to get back at the Eagles for you.

[00:01:59] Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So they got back at him though.

[00:02:06] It was it was pretty bad but we'll see him again. I'm sure we'll see him again in the playoffs.

[00:02:11] So I'm sure we will. But go from one day and football experience, you know, to a good football

[00:02:19] experience as far as your side goes, right? Yeah, you know, definitely, of course for anyone who

[00:02:25] may or may not know, my son is an eighth grader who is playing on a high school football who played

[00:02:32] on a high school football team. And his high school football team, Caravira Academy went undefeated

[00:02:40] through the regular season and then they breeze through the playoffs, winning all the games

[00:02:46] and on Saturday, they won state championship for the 2A division for Delaware. So, you know, definitely

[00:02:54] excited for my son because, you know, even though he didn't get a lot of playing time,

[00:02:58] you know, Dave, can you get any luck here to be an eighth grade and get a high school football championship

[00:03:05] ring in eighth grade? Yeah. I mean, you know, I'm sure he was excited, right? Yeah, I mean,

[00:03:14] he was excited. He wasn't as excited as the people who actually, you know, played but, you know,

[00:03:18] just being a part of it, you know, I think is a confidence booster. So I'm excited.

[00:03:23] Well, what it was, yeah, what it would do was kind of, it should make him want to be more of

[00:03:34] up because when you see those types of things, especially in sports and you're, you know, you're,

[00:03:44] I don't want to say, you know, a bench person but, you know, but you're looking at the game

[00:03:50] from the sidelines versus being in the game. You know, when you win a championship like that or

[00:03:58] get a chance to play for a championship, you always start thinking to yourself, man, I want to be

[00:04:04] out there or I want to be a part of that. Yeah, exactly. So I think, I think, you know, as he

[00:04:13] sticks with football and it starts moving on up, I think you'll still start to see him because I'm

[00:04:20] going to tell you, your son has a great size and he has, you know, just by his size alone.

[00:04:29] You know, he can, you know, by the time, and you talk about this other day, by the time

[00:04:34] the seeing year comes around, man, he could be, he could be a beast that he sticks with it, you know?

[00:04:39] That's a moment. Yeah, so, um, so, congratulations to Caraville

[00:04:46] and winning the division two-a title over the weekend. That's a, that's a bigger accomplishment

[00:04:56] and going undefeated. I don't know if you heard the controversy or in college football, there was

[00:05:02] they picked their teams for their playoff. Yeah, did you see the team floor, the state got left out

[00:05:12] and they were undefeated 13 and Oasis in doing the season and didn't make the playoff.

[00:05:18] Which is crazy. And they showed like when they were making the announcements of the teams that

[00:05:24] made the playoff, they showed them sitting there watching on ESPN, the results and who made the

[00:05:32] playoffs and as soon as they found out that they didn't make it, you can see all of them just walk

[00:05:36] out the room. I'm sure they were pissed, man. Yeah, they were pissed. Yeah, and you know, you know,

[00:05:43] you win all your games so you don't make the playoffs and you got two teams in there that got one

[00:05:48] loss each. You know, so it was not good. It was not good. So that's a greater compliment to

[00:05:58] to win all the games and to win the championship out. I'm happy for them as well. So, way to go.

[00:06:06] Well, I guess we got it. So, you know, I was not familiar with the Florida state. I just do it

[00:06:13] real quick. Just real quick. I saw there was a news report that said Donald Trump blames around

[00:06:20] the Sanchez for Florida state being left off the playoffs. Yeah, well, Ryan's Sanchez was running

[00:06:29] his mouth about stuff too and plus is it all comes to politics always because of all the stuff

[00:06:35] that's been going on down there in Florida. They feel that had something to do with it too, you know,

[00:06:39] so but no, it had nothing to do. It had to do with the fact that Florida state when people are

[00:06:47] understanding is Florida state starting quarterback got hurt a couple weeks ago in a football game.

[00:06:53] The boy was really, really good too. And then they ended up playing Saturday and actually one

[00:07:03] Saturday with their third string quarterback. They were because the second string quarterback I heard.

[00:07:08] So, with the bold guys committee was doing was trying not to get Florida state put in a situation

[00:07:14] where they get put in and get blown out by the team that had to play. Right. So, that's what it was

[00:07:22] all about. But I say it's really messed up. It really is. But here we are. So,

[00:07:31] so you're so definitely should be thankful to be on a team that's undefeated and champion.

[00:07:40] All right, so I guess we got a few stories to talk about today. Let's see

[00:07:50] I guess we're going to start with. I told this story. I thought it was, you know, just tells us

[00:08:00] that, you know, as much as they don't think we are, we definitely are. You know. And this is about

[00:08:11] a six-year-old, like I said, but the title says six-year-old black girl from New Jersey,

[00:08:19] scores 138 on the IQ test, same as Albert Einstein. Okay. So, and the story is about a young lady. Her

[00:08:33] name is Declan Lopez, a secure old African-American girl from Dover, New Jersey. I didn't know

[00:08:44] there was a Dover New Jersey. That's interesting. Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's the first time I heard

[00:08:50] that. Who is defined the norms of genius with her men's membership and impressive IQ of 138,

[00:09:00] 138 nearly as high as Einstein's. Declan who was currently a kindergartener at her elementary school

[00:09:10] as during the ranks of men's membership, a society for the brightest mind. I wasn't that. I just

[00:09:18] chose not to be in it anymore. I didn't want to show off. Look at that. Yeah, of course, of course.

[00:09:27] Yeah, yeah, there you go. You know, when they talked to her, they said, I'm interested in art

[00:09:34] science, math and geography to Declan was already reading as a third or fourth grade level.

[00:09:46] Feel like we're hearing a lot more about these kind of stories with these kids now. It's just

[00:09:51] unbelievable. And she has joys learning physics also according to ABC TV. Our parents first

[00:10:03] noticed her exceptional intelligence at 18 months old when she casually started counting in

[00:10:12] mandering in Mandarin during an airport trip. What type of a television YouTube video would she watch

[00:10:23] and grow and go, oh no, because it definitely wasn't the same thing I would watch.

[00:10:28] Yeah, who does that? That's funny. It says however her parents are committed to keeping

[00:10:43] her bubbly personality and brilliance. They navigate the challenge of keeping Declan

[00:10:51] intellectually stimulated while still embracing the joys of childhood. That's something I always

[00:10:58] worry about with these geniuses. You know, we all have what from an entertainment perspective,

[00:11:06] people like Michael Jackson and some of the other childhood stars who don't have much of a childhood

[00:11:16] because they become such icons at an early age that their childhood is basically taken away from them.

[00:11:24] When you have these kids that are geniuses and so forth, you know, I guess the thing,

[00:11:31] the hard thing is to try to keep them balanced in a way that they could still be a child,

[00:11:38] but still embrace the fact that they're not the same as most children or age.

[00:11:46] You know, I mean, I agree. The thing I always think about and maybe it's a little bit different here

[00:11:52] because I guess you know, Dave, you and I don't know anything about being a genius. But

[00:12:02] but you know, I guess if you're a genius, you just have it in you, but I always think about kids

[00:12:06] who get burned out so it's like okay, you know, if you're going to, you know, you're doubling up on

[00:12:12] school and graduating high school at 12 and college at, you know, 15 like do you get burned out?

[00:12:20] Like do you get a point where you just want to experience being a child, you know, going to the

[00:12:24] movies having fun, going to the prom, you know, like I don't know. I wonder if someone starts to fake it

[00:12:31] and then start dumbing down there, you know what I mean? And just say, you know, start saying,

[00:12:38] oh, okay, I'm going to play dumb, you know, so that I don't have to try to, you know,

[00:12:46] be involved and all the stuff that they want for me to be involved in. You know, so

[00:12:53] you know, apparently she has a little brother too, named Maddox

[00:12:58] and he's showing promising clients of following in his footsteps.

[00:13:03] And the parents say that Google and Alexa have become their family's best friend helping them keep up with the kids.

[00:13:13] You know, they almost need to translate her in a way.

[00:13:18] Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm still tripping on the Mandarin, you know, that is so crazy to me.

[00:13:26] So, but that's good to see that we have a child like this to be able to

[00:13:39] to defy the odds and become a member of Mensa and to show that, you know,

[00:13:47] we got some smart people out here too. You know, they just the other folks, we got some

[00:13:53] smart people out here too. So, congratulations and keep up the good work, Declan. I just wanted to talk

[00:14:04] about that and you know, one of those feel good stories, you know, before we get into anything else

[00:14:10] that might not be so good. But anyway, what you got for us?

[00:14:19] Yeah, so Dave, this was an interesting story that I actually saw today and it is,

[00:14:24] so the title is Tyler Perry's Well, is not trickling down the black presidents of Atlanta.

[00:14:31] So, you know, of course when I first saw the title, I was okay, you know, I definitely got to read this.

[00:14:36] So, the article starts off saying that there's a documentary that is either going to be coming out

[00:14:43] or is already out of my short called Maxine's Baby, which basically about his mom.

[00:14:50] Which is basically about the rise of Tyler Perry,

[00:14:55] mistakes that he was born in, the poverty and hardship in New Orleans. He old came racism

[00:15:01] and long eyes to become one of the highest paid entertainers in the world and to be specific

[00:15:07] a billionaire. So, you know, basically the film is almost like a feel good.

[00:15:15] And here they even say it's almost like a campaign video if he were running for, you know, politics.

[00:15:26] So, in the article, of course they mentioned that he bought, of course, Tyler Perry's studios

[00:15:36] and in 2015, the studios was actually the old fork McPherson base. And he bought it

[00:15:46] for a significant discount price of $30 million even though it had been appraised at a close

[00:15:53] to $75 million. And a lot of people say that he got a steal of a deal on it because he

[00:16:00] and the mayor of Atlanta at the time could seem to read or friends. A lot of people in the surrounding

[00:16:08] area, which is a very poor poverty-stricken area felt like it was a dirty, dirty trick said one

[00:16:17] resident after everything was in NAPS. So, of course they've he bought it for $30 million.

[00:16:23] Nail Forbes Estima said Tyler Perry's studios is worth $280 million. But because of the deal

[00:16:33] that he made with local officials, he has a tax deal where from 2015 to 2022, he has paid,

[00:16:45] he has had to pay zero property taxes. So, why the residents are upset is for the court day,

[00:16:54] we know property taxes go to the community, they go to the schools and you know, they kind of

[00:17:02] fix things in that immediate area. Since he's not paying any taxes, the community is not benefiting

[00:17:11] from any of the great things that have happened at Tyler Perry's studios. And here says, additionally,

[00:17:20] Perry has taken advantage of the 30% state tax credit given to film productions in Georgia

[00:17:28] and the share of that money, of course, would go to subsidize residents and the area

[00:17:41] and so that 30% that he does not have to pay is coming from the residents in that area,

[00:17:50] which is equaling about $330 per household. So, you know, also, it's short, you know, just a lot

[00:17:58] of people are upset. They are saying that in Atlanta, the medium household income for black families

[00:18:06] is $28,000 compared to $83,000 for white families. And even though Tyler Perry, when he first bought

[00:18:15] the studio, he had talked about how his studio would benefit the community and you know, uplift

[00:18:23] the people around it, the tax breaks that he's actually getting actually hurting the community because,

[00:18:30] you know, of course, that money is not going back to the community. So, you know, I mean, I

[00:18:35] thought it was a very interesting article and I was actually surprised to hear, you know, kind

[00:18:41] of how everything worked out in Tyler Perry's favor and how the community around him has not benefited

[00:18:48] and it's still one of the poorest communities in Atlanta. So, you know, I thought this would be

[00:18:53] a good conversation piece. Dave, what are your thoughts? Well, I'm curious. Has there been any

[00:19:00] protests or anything in reference to this? So, as a community? As of this article, they have not

[00:19:08] mentioned anything but that does not mean that you know, anything's happened.

[00:19:14] All right. And so he didn't have to pay up until last year, he didn't have to pay.

[00:19:20] Oh, I thought you said 2022. Well, he was covered from 20. Yeah, right. So, he didn't have to

[00:19:28] pay anything up until last year and then he had to start paying this year. Did they say how much it

[00:19:34] was again? They did not say what it was but they did say even though Ford estimated the worth

[00:19:41] of 280 million. But the full 10 county assessors calculated the value at only 74 million. So,

[00:19:51] it says, it looks like it says that his taxes would be less than a million dollars which have yet

[00:19:58] to be paid. So, of course, if it was 280 million, that probably by what four times that amount?

[00:20:05] So, about four million. That's probably why they said it was only 74 to keep it low.

[00:20:12] Because you got it, you got it mad. You got it mad in its worth. It's gotta be worth at least

[00:20:17] for a couple of hundred million. But even with the 74, does he have connections that are like

[00:20:23] lowering that assessment form so he don't have to connect and to get the property? Yeah, definitely.

[00:20:29] I mean, it was originally a praise that 75 million and he walked away with 30 million.

[00:20:39] And we know what he's done there since he's been there. Right. I mean, and he's added on to the

[00:20:46] property, you know, since he's been there. So, it's gotta be worth more than they're saying it is.

[00:20:53] It's gotta be. And it was worth more than that to put on the start. Of course, we know he's going

[00:21:00] to, you know, he's winning. He's definitely winning on this. So I just would hate to think that Tyler

[00:21:12] being the person that he always presents himself to be because he adds help people. He adds

[00:21:20] been in philanthropy and so forth and so forth. In knowing what's being said about him and that

[00:21:31] community, I would hope that he's helping people with things that are going on that they're not

[00:21:41] talking about. I saw something about the, you know, he had donated what? 700 to 50 thousand dollars

[00:21:48] to help seniors that were in, what was it? Yeah, to help low income seniors in Atlanta.

[00:22:02] As their property taxes increased and so forth. So you know, that is an interesting figure though.

[00:22:09] 751. Not just going to give them millions. Yeah.

[00:22:12] Yeah. So, you know, I just always interesting something to kind of keep an eye on to see if now

[00:22:20] that this art and you know, this article was not in a major media outlet so you know, I'd be curious

[00:22:27] if there's something to have sure. I'm sure it was. I'm sure it was. Why would they want to do that?

[00:22:34] Because they want Tyler always look like the golden boy. So, you know, I hear that documentary.

[00:22:41] It's really good though. I do want to, I do want to check that out. It is something that I have

[00:22:49] planned, I plan to look at so you know, so all right. Well hopefully we're here some positives

[00:22:58] to come out of that, you know, come out of this as far as the story is concerned. So

[00:23:04] all right. Moving on to one of our other favorite people. I ran across, I saw this one day last

[00:23:18] week. They were talking about Serena Williams and where she is at this point as far as emotionally

[00:23:26] and I remember seeing something about her saying that she's not okay today.

[00:23:37] So, she was making a reference to powerful missions what black women need right now.

[00:23:47] I'm going to read a little bit of this and then hopefully we can have a conversation.

[00:23:53] So, we're living through an extraordinary difficult period between two wars, the

[00:23:58] political divides, financial issues. The everyday struggles that come with being black in America,

[00:24:08] the stress can be overwhelming. At times like this, these black women often feel like we have to

[00:24:15] put on a brave face to where our shoulders and take care of everyone else. However, one of the

[00:24:23] most influential women in the world is letting us know we don't have to take on the entire burden

[00:24:31] all the time. On Tuesday, 10th grade Serena Williams took to Twitter to let the world know that it's

[00:24:41] okay not to be 100% all the time. I am not okay today and that's okay to not be okay she wrote.

[00:24:54] No one is okay every single day. If you are not okay today, I'm with you. There's always tomorrow

[00:25:04] love you. So, she kind of put it out there that black women don't have to be okay each and every

[00:25:21] moment of the day. Black women have mapped themselves for years as far as trying to be that strong

[00:25:35] person, trying to be the mother, trying to be the sister, trying to be the wife, trying to be

[00:25:42] the daughter and be strong. And when they are looked at, when they have their week moments and

[00:25:51] they allow people to see them in their week moments, they're called weeks but we know they're not.

[00:26:01] Black women have had to endure a lot over the years. And for those who have power, you take a

[00:26:12] person like Serena Williams who we all had known for years as being one of the top female athletes

[00:26:23] in the world, not just black athletes. Black female athletes one of the top female athletes

[00:26:30] in the world and one of the top athletes in the world. When somebody like her said she's not okay

[00:26:39] all the time then we have to live for it because it's true. How many people do you know that's on point

[00:26:49] 100% of the time? No. Not a pain if they say they are, you know they lie.

[00:26:58] We know their lies. You know we've done shows, we're in our 30, just started our third year doing this

[00:27:08] podcast. Every show we do, we're talking about somebody that's not okay. You know what I mean?

[00:27:15] Right. Just about, I mean I don't think we've done one show that we didn't talk about somebody that's

[00:27:21] not okay. You know so let's see if we can kind of pay attention because I mean you're married

[00:27:38] you have a wife here. I know you know when your wife is not okay, you can tell that.

[00:27:51] You're your son. You know there were moments that your mother wasn't okay even though she didn't

[00:27:59] want you to know she wasn't okay right? Yeah because I know my mother was one of the strongest women

[00:28:05] I've known in my life and you know very few times I saw her cry. You know and it was those moments

[00:28:23] that I knew she wasn't okay any other time. I never questioned it but those moments I knew she

[00:28:31] wasn't okay because she allowed her wall to come down. You know black women, women general in general

[00:28:42] you know are grateful for putting walls up and you know and hiding behind those walls but they still

[00:28:49] let you see them. They still let you see them but you just not gonna see all of them right? Okay and

[00:28:59] Serena is putting it out there saying hey look we got it you know it's okay not to be okay. It's okay

[00:29:07] not to have everything to go the way you wanted you wanted to. I know she she's been talking about

[00:29:16] you know having postpartum depression with the second baby. I think she mentioned here her second

[00:29:27] post is a reminder that it's small things that get us through these trying times whether it's

[00:29:32] cutting it coloring with your baby playing games with your family watching your favorite movie

[00:29:38] or losing yourself in a finale I mean a finale of a reality show take time to enjoy the little

[00:29:47] things. We don't really do that. Families aren't family anymore to be able to get people to engage

[00:29:59] in something and she just kind of hit the nail on it, indulging them one of your favorite

[00:30:05] finality shows. I mean reality shows because we can unfortunately we're all addicted to the

[00:30:12] craziness of reality shows right now because that's what kind of dominate TV right now. Right.

[00:30:19] So but we have to we have a lot of women listeners and we have to acknowledge them with all

[00:30:29] this going on last week we talked about women's health. We've been talking about women's health

[00:30:35] kind of indirectly almost for a year now with different things that we talked about.

[00:30:43] We talked about how they're discriminated against and they don't always get the best care

[00:30:48] and because they are black women so there's a lot for them not to be okay about

[00:30:58] what's your thoughts on this. Yeah I mean I definitely agree you know I think and I mean

[00:31:06] you know everything we say here we already know we don't already talked about but I always think

[00:31:12] it's good because some people will think that and let's just say Serena's position because she has

[00:31:18] a lot of fame because she has a lot of money because you know whatever whatever that she doesn't

[00:31:27] go through the same issues that most black women go through so you know I think it's definitely a

[00:31:33] reinforcement that no matter how much money you have no matter how famous no matter how good people

[00:31:41] think you have it you know they all you know black women all go through a common struggle so you

[00:31:47] know I think you just read out right set. Yes yes definitely I agree and I know you know what's

[00:31:55] somebody like this putting it out there you know because we know Serena's had a tough route

[00:32:01] you know coming up and she had to deal with a lot of negativity being a black tennis player

[00:32:08] and then being one that dominated you know because tennis is like golf you know is a white world

[00:32:17] you know basically and you know to come in her and her sister come in and do what they did

[00:32:23] you know they had to deal with a lot of the negative as well there's a statement the last statement

[00:32:31] I wanted to read that she says she says these small comforts are what keeps us grounded and makes

[00:32:38] life more than just an analyst grind of work and responsibility as Serena says sometimes you have

[00:32:48] to allow yourself to not be okay when you acknowledge that you're struggling it gives you space to

[00:32:56] address the issue and find a path back to more emotionally balanced place. Can't say it any better

[00:33:07] than that. Yep agreed. Yeah so I'm sure that and we have a lot of women that listen to the show

[00:33:16] I'm sure that they would agree with a lot that Serena is saying here and I saw this story and I

[00:33:24] just wanted to put it out there you know and I agree with Serena it is okay not to be okay

[00:33:33] and and I'll say that on the side of the men as well I mean you know we have we have a lot

[00:33:41] that's on our shoulders as well and you know if you have a significant other and there's somebody

[00:33:52] that you share your life with and if you're not okay that particular day hopefully that other

[00:34:03] person can pick up the ball for you and be able to help you get through the moments that you're

[00:34:09] going through and vice versa so it is a good thing that she's out speaking and advocating

[00:34:17] the way she is and that's that's definitely a great positive step in the right direction so

[00:34:26] I just wanted to bring that story up and I'm sure you guys have some feedback on that I would love

[00:34:32] to hear it so you know feel free to drop it away so we can see what you have to say about that.

[00:34:41] All right figure we have a discussion about this next thing since we're all

[00:34:56] we're all in the holiday month of December now and starting to fill a lot like Christmas as a

[00:35:05] sponsor I was reading something online and it was talking about

[00:35:18] shopping in the year 2023 and it was saying and it was about blacks and minorities that shop

[00:35:28] and they said what is your go-to holiday gifts for Christmas now you know before there were

[00:35:34] staples that you would buy your kids you would buy your friends or whatever now things are so

[00:35:40] different with shopping and everything first of all do you still go to stores to shop or do you

[00:35:48] do much of your shopping online. So I try to do online worst case scenario without

[00:35:57] having to run in a couple stores well you know it kind of depends like if I'm driving by a store

[00:36:02] you know some stuff you just I won't say you can't get online but like if I'm getting a gift card

[00:36:09] or I'm just trying to look for some little knick-knacks I'm going to go in person if I'm kind of

[00:36:17] know what I'm getting and especially if I'm prepared and early I'm definitely getting it online

[00:36:23] no question about it. All right now is there a certain gift that you you know we used to have

[00:36:35] back in the day you know it was always like if you were dealing with kids there were certain things

[00:36:41] that you would get for kids if you were dealing with adults there were certain things you would get

[00:36:46] you know and of course you knew your price range that you were going to spend so you knew

[00:36:51] you could go out and get certain things for your family and the children in your family.

[00:36:59] So now with all the different things that they have out there and now

[00:37:09] you know it's become an electronic world and everything's electronic what's your like if you

[00:37:16] were shopping for okay you have teenagers so what is it go to gifts for teenagers. So my son

[00:37:31] probably only because he's in you know all about electronics if I had to just randomly get

[00:37:37] him something without him telling me I'm going to get him gift cards and that it aren't going to be

[00:37:44] game stop. Steam I don't even know exactly what steam is but you know what steam?

[00:37:51] I don't know it must be something where you can go online and get credits or points or

[00:37:56] help for playing games and stuff online. Yeah you know he asked me to get it I've never even looked

[00:38:01] it up I just I just go ahead and get it so that would be my son my daughter you know she's

[00:38:08] going to want something Nike like you know Nike shoes sweatshirt or she's going to want one of

[00:38:15] those little and this has been like the past three years. One of the trendy sweatshirts so like

[00:38:21] last year she wanted the essentials sweatshirt and of course they're very hard to find they all

[00:38:29] cost like a hundred they've a hundred and fifty dollars or more for sweatshirt. For sweatshirt?

[00:38:34] Yep and and of course you can't really find it anywhere even online like you know the splot.

[00:38:42] Supply so limited excuse me this year she gave me another brand that she wanted which I guess is

[00:38:48] one of the the hot brands this year and I looked it up it was a sweatshirt that cost over a hundred

[00:38:54] dollars again so and then for the wife you know the wife is the hardest because they have

[00:39:02] ended day we don't need nothing but two at the very beginning of relationships she's like oh you

[00:39:08] know if you buy me clothes I don't if you buy me shoes bags or perfume you can never go wrong.

[00:39:20] I learned that was a lie that was a lie day

[00:39:24] that was a lie because I mean of course you know shoes even if I buy like brand that I think she

[00:39:33] likes you know I mean it's so subjective handbags so subjective perfume they I don't know what

[00:39:40] perfume came out this year what perfume was there for years old you know I mean it's like so

[00:39:46] those those that would be my go-to but it don't always work out like you want to work.

[00:39:53] It doesn't work out the way you wanted to know what what about yourself what are your go-toes

[00:39:59] for people close to you? Well it's funny what's happening these days and then and I'm not just

[00:40:09] going to label it because because of two of my kids birthdays or in December so so I always made a big

[00:40:20] deal out of their birthdays but you know I guess the thing with boys you know they're pretty easy to

[00:40:31] kind of try to satisfy as long as you stay in their willhouse so like you said about your

[00:40:37] son you know exactly what will make him happy and won't be a problem you know by you know if

[00:40:45] you give it give cards the game something like if I bought my son a gift card a game stop

[00:40:50] he'd be fine with that my youngest son you know or gift card period because it'd be it'll

[00:40:59] figure out a way to buy a game or something with it or whatever the case may be

[00:41:04] um when it comes to girls like well my oldest child is he's 40 she's 44 45 so

[00:41:14] um so I wouldn't dare try to even think about buying something for 40 something year old

[00:41:22] female these days of if I you know because like you said it's hard to do that um

[00:41:31] I can't those are always still something I feel pretty easy to buy you know but even they have become

[00:41:41] like major you know because you know you got to have a certain smell and

[00:41:47] you know some more Roman therapy and all of that kind of stuff you can't just go out and get regular

[00:41:55] candles anymore so um trying to think what else perfume yeah

[00:42:07] that's a hit miss you were right yeah because you might like it but they'd be like I don't like

[00:42:15] it you know I know you know so um what happened to the days you can buy color in both

[00:42:23] and crayons and stuff like you know it just be you know or or buy games or you know look

[00:42:31] you I remember getting a deck of cards one Christmas as a kid and man that was one of the best

[00:42:36] gifts ever got well but they were what year was that oh well I was a kid I got

[00:42:45] this and you know yeah now that wouldn't work now you go alive it wouldn't work now but um

[00:42:55] and of course you know um computers are still always going to be you know you can get a computer

[00:43:02] or laptop or something like that or or any type of electronics device well elector or something

[00:43:09] like that you know even something anything is going to make things easy you know with the whole

[00:43:16] AI thing coming in there and starting to take over to this time next year

[00:43:25] I'm sure Christmas would be even different even more different

[00:43:31] you know so um you know because you already got people ordering AI music programs

[00:43:38] to be able to do their videos and all of that stuff now it's you know it's scary man it really is

[00:43:46] so but I just was thinking about that when I was looking at this this thing um and they were

[00:43:52] talking about all these different gifts and and talking about the different you know how well

[00:43:58] one thing like he said you buying this buying a sweatshirt for $100 over $100 for your teenage order

[00:44:09] your parents would have never done never ever my parents would have never done that

[00:44:16] my mom look uh you know like uh what was that the old closet things the only people

[00:44:24] supposed to be wearing stuff like that is uh if his name is Michael and he got four other brothers

[00:44:29] you know so yeah that's that's the only thing so when you look at that type of thing

[00:44:38] so um yeah yeah definitely um I just think that uh shopping the day and especially with it

[00:44:49] going into storage versus doing online I rather do everything online anyway

[00:44:56] now I'm saying because so much easier you know the the mall the one day what black friday it was black

[00:45:04] friday they wear a capacity the christianna mall and they had signs of saying that they wear a capacity

[00:45:12] it was crazy they didn't want they said you know you imagine you go over there to that mall you

[00:45:19] can't and you can't get to that mall or you can't part what did you go over there doing that week

[00:45:25] no but I feel like last year I went over earlier and not not later in the day but earlier in the day

[00:45:34] and uh it was crazy it was crazy I mean the track well you know it's like the traffic getting in

[00:45:39] and out is just as bad as far yeah it really is and even on the like I really don't go inside

[00:45:49] the mall I mean I never was a big fan of that mall um but you know it is a very popular place

[00:46:00] you know like you said child Barclay said that's his favorite mall you know so you know

[00:46:06] but you know now I'll go in the fashion center side you know um yeah but even but the trap but

[00:46:13] you got the traffic is so horrible getting in and out of there even still you know because

[00:46:19] people try to go around the back end they try to get out the mall and it's a lot of traffic back

[00:46:24] there too so and you know over the next couple of weeks you know we got a couple movies

[00:46:30] get ready come out it's probably gonna have a lot of traffic out there so it's gonna be interesting

[00:46:35] so but anyway I just thought it was you know with the holiday season now they start

[00:46:39] out bringing that up in reference to how people shop and what people are doing when it comes to

[00:46:45] shop and anymore um you guys can always feel free to give us your feelings on it how do you shop

[00:46:52] and what is your go-to items that you go to for depending on the situation at hand let's know

[00:46:59] okay all right uh you guys have been listening to news and trends with Dave and Len thank you

[00:47:08] for taking the time to listen to us and everything we are a two our final part of the show which is

[00:47:15] course limits favorite part of the show which is Dave's corner and I'll give you the backdrop

[00:47:24] toward this question came from by the way that I'm gonna ask you have you looked at any

[00:47:29] the squid game stuff yes have you looked at the challenge there's a new series of squid game

[00:47:39] challenge yes are you caught up on it no I'm not okay so I've been watching the squid game

[00:47:52] challenge and it's just interesting down these people have a chance to win over four million dollars

[00:47:59] um and it was over a hundred and something people to start out with and is down well

[00:48:06] it's down to the final three um that I'm looking at now so and it's close to almost five million

[00:48:14] dollars in there so I was looking at some of the tests and the games that they've had to do

[00:48:21] in order to you know this survive in um this squid game so this question kind of came about

[00:48:32] if someone offers you a hundred thousand dollars to tell us secret that was told to you by your

[00:48:39] bFF or close or one of your closest family members or your closest family member to you

[00:48:46] would you tell the secret and take the money

[00:48:55] they this right here is a tough one today yeah uh based on some of the stuff that these people

[00:49:03] have had to do in this squid game just maybe think of it so what do you think so I mean

[00:49:11] I'm really gonna say and I know you're not gonna like my answer it depends

[00:49:20] okay okay I'll just say that because you know is this secret gonna put somebody you know

[00:49:29] somebody close to me in danger is it going to risk somebody's life their career you know um

[00:49:37] you know like Dave and my guy tell everybody that you're really a superhero and now

[00:49:44] the whole the whole army and the Navy is trying to come to your house to like capture you

[00:49:50] no no yeah but so ordinarily I'm going to say you would take the money that's what you're gonna

[00:50:00] worry no ordinarily I would say no yeah if it's something that I think my bFF or my closest family

[00:50:10] member wouldn't mind splitting that hundred thousand if people knew then then we guys put the money

[00:50:17] okay um what would Dave before you answer let me ask you roughly well

[00:50:34] is your I won't even say your deepest secret but do you have a deep secret that you would be willing to

[00:50:44] um to tell for a hundred thousand dollars

[00:50:53] yeah yeah because I don't think it's you know I go alive because I don't think it's that bad that

[00:50:59] I that I shouldn't get paid for you know what I mean uh I mean now of course if I killed somebody and

[00:51:10] that was my deepest secret I'm not I'm taking that to my grave you know everybody knows you know so

[00:51:16] so no I would have to keep that to myself but um if it was something that I considered to be a secret

[00:51:24] that I haven't told anybody and a hundred thousand dollars is on the line

[00:51:32] yeah I need to buy some Christmas gifts you know

[00:51:35] right hey hey hey they they will we say some Christmas gift for yourself huh yeah there you go

[00:51:42] uh new car a couple other things but you know that type of things uh um yeah I think I would tell

[00:51:52] you know like there's a money is the root of all evil you know so you know so um

[00:51:59] um but would I do that to a bf at four closest friends I don't think so I don't think I

[00:52:08] will want to betray well let me let me just put this to myself because nor tell him what that

[00:52:17] best friend or closest family member they do because they might take the money and run right but

[00:52:23] just knowing me and the loyalty I have to my friends I wouldn't tell

[00:52:34] and I wouldn't take the money so um as long as they don't show it to me

[00:52:42] yeah i'm good now they show it to me it's we gave you know the whole thing is the money's over top

[00:52:50] in the in the ball you know they're dropping the money it's there if I'm saying they're looking at that

[00:52:55] ball long enough with a hundred thousand dollars in it yeah it made all the sudden that money might

[00:53:03] disappear I don't know it may disappear but um but no um I just thought I just wanted to put that out

[00:53:13] there because I'm you know and that in that series and there was a lot of choices that were being made

[00:53:19] that was pretty interesting you know I thought so um and I always you always wonder what people will

[00:53:26] do you know we we always try to say that it's not about the money but is it really not about

[00:53:33] the money yeah and indeed we say all this now but someone's like a hundred thousand dollars on the

[00:53:38] table you know yeah maybe there you go it may be a little different that's right so but um let us

[00:53:47] know folks would you with your answer to that question would be and um you know let's see if

[00:53:54] you would sell out or some mule up you know so we would see what happens I guess that's everything
