[00:01:18] So go ahead, I mean, Leonard.

[00:01:22] This is Leonard Young, see you on National Black guy Delaware Black dot com black media specialist. I'm losing my voice in beige, they wouldn't give me the day off, he's a slave driver.

[00:01:37] Yeah, you know, you'll know if I give him the day off, you know, you might not hear our show for a couple weeks. So, you know, that's why I said that's why I said, uh,

[00:01:45] now man, you got pushed through, you got pushed through, but he's been a trooper, he's hanging in, he's he's hanging in so he will try to add something to the show tonight, try.

[00:01:56] Okay, all right. So what's going on man last week we were we were in 60 70 degree weather now we back to you like, you know the cool weather now, you know, yes, there's a start start get cold again.

[00:02:11] Yeah, so well, you know today is officially the first day of spring. Well, 11 p.m. they said it's when spring actually starts. I don't know how that happened.

[00:02:24] It used to be I don't remember ever starting at night like before, but you know, but they said 11 p.m. is when spring actually officially starts.

[00:02:33] Okay. Yeah, you know, I always thought the first day is rain one of 21st.

[00:02:39] I know, but then that's what they said 11 p.m. Yeah. So, I guess we'll find out.

[00:02:47] We'll find out what the deal is as the next couple of days, hopefully the weather will give we'll get back to being warm again.

[00:02:58] It's supposed to get that way towards next week I think so we'll see.

[00:03:02] But you know here we are made it through the weekend yet a good weekend sir.

[00:03:08] Yeah, no complaints just working working working at the campground. That's it.

[00:03:14] Yeah, yeah screaming at people and everything that's how you lost his voice, you know, you know, make sure you know, make sure them people do they, you know, do their work and everything, you know.

[00:03:24] You know, that's what he does. He walks around with the whip in his hand.

[00:03:29] Well, when they when you coming down not to be beaten.

[00:03:36] We got to put you to work. Yeah, okay. All right. Well, I know I'll come down there do some managing for you. That's what I'll do.

[00:03:44] So when when you was a date.

[00:03:48] I'll let you know it's coming soon man. Don't worry. It's soon.

[00:03:52] So like the song said soon and very soon, you know, so we'll see.

[00:03:59] But anyway, I'm not I'm not going to keep my partner on too long tonight since he's under the weather. So we're going to go ahead and get right into these stories.

[00:04:11] We got a couple of good stories for you tonight and you know, we're going to see what you guys think of these stories.

[00:04:20] We'll see you back on last week show. A couple of people had comments about last week show.

[00:04:26] So we always like to see when you send have your comments and personal thoughts.

[00:04:31] So hopefully we'll get some about the nature.

[00:04:35] All right. All right, so we're going to go ahead and get into this first story.

[00:04:40] I thought this first story was interesting.

[00:04:44] I don't know how far you got to go to see certain things, but just thought this was cool is about this Irish gas station dedicated to.

[00:04:59] Get me dedicated to Barack Obama gains viral attention.

[00:05:08] So there's this gas station is says the M7 highway in Ireland, both a Barack Obama theme gas station called the Barack Obama plaza.

[00:05:20] It features bronze statues of the former president and first lady Michelle Obama.

[00:05:27] And all for the souvenir, all for souvenir coins, magnets, mugs and cardboard cutouts of Obama.

[00:05:37] The gas station opened in 2014 as a tribute to Obama's visit to the nearby town of money goal where his great, great, great grandfather was born.

[00:05:49] The service station presence was widely uncovered thanks to Emily Howard, who's tick tock post has since gone viral.

[00:06:00] There was a clip of her post that showed the gas station is when you are it's on tick tock if anybody, if anybody I'm solid, you know, you know what it looks like.

[00:06:16] Howard said that.

[00:06:20] I thought visiting the Barack Obama plaza would be a Larry surprise from our fiance and it made better than.

[00:06:30] And it was made better that he fell asleep in the passenger seat, and when he woke up, he was greeted by the statues of the old bombings in front of the plaza.

[00:06:40] Barack Obama plaza also boost on an air pump in honor of Coleman O'Brien, you know who called in over in his man.

[00:06:51] Okay, just make it sure.

[00:06:55] It says that O'Brien called the pump a big honor and said the gas station is the greatest tribute to any American president.

[00:07:10] Excuse me, I would hold on to that anyway in the comments of the tick tock flip one user wrote we accidentally stopped here when we were there and we were so confused but it is truly amazing.

[00:07:26] Another person added my dad's weirdest obsession is the Barack Obama travel plaza.

[00:07:33] A third comment always wanted to go to Ireland no need to make it more appealing than it already is now that they had the gas station I'll be going even more.

[00:07:44] It says the station owner reportedly spent $4,000 to change the name to honor the 44th president.

[00:07:53] $4,000 that's not I guess it's not a lot of money.

[00:08:00] But that's interesting in Ireland you will find something like that you imagine going to a gas station that you see and that's somewhere in another part of the world.

[00:08:10] And the fact that is great great grandfather comes from that area.

[00:08:21] That's interesting so he has a mixture of a lot of different things in him I guess because I know I know I didn't hear the Irish thing before that's the first time I ever heard that right.

[00:08:39] I have heard the Ethiopian right.

[00:08:45] Of course he lived in Hawaii for a little bit or burn in Hawaii.

[00:08:50] Right. I never heard the Irish thing but that is definitely down the line a little bit I guess so you know we all probably got Irish and we can never you never know.

[00:09:05] But I just thought that was interesting when I saw the story.

[00:09:10] You know the thing that you know and especially since he was the only African American on president that has honor like that in a country.

[00:09:19] Like Ireland you know that's the whole you know who you would think you know you would think Africa first you know you would never.

[00:09:30] But that's pretty cool to have something like that I wonder what didn't say anything about whether they have actually gone over the Obama's have seen it since it's been named after them but I'm sure that they plan on going over there to check it out.

[00:09:51] So but I just thought it was a pretty cool story in your honor or 44 president and and his way.

[00:10:01] Okay all right that's Leonard common in the background people so okay.

[00:10:09] I'm trying to save my voice.

[00:10:12] I'm trying to save my voice.

[00:10:17] I'm trying to save my voice.

[00:10:19] Okay.

[00:10:22] Okay. All right move on to our next story about congratulations to the old bomb and for that honor so.

[00:10:30] Our next story.

[00:10:31] We got a black pilot out of Long Beach California and he was actually the very first black helicopter pilot for the Long Beach police department.

[00:10:45] And he recently was awarded $500,000 settlement because of racism that he endured.

[00:10:54] So he says that over the course of about 20 years or 20 to 30 years he endured being called the N word.

[00:11:07] People referring to his neighborhood as what is in word bill.

[00:11:15] He had banana peels placed on his car and he had a boss who had a black face.

[00:11:25] I think he said a black face sketch of dragon balls the explains office for years so of course he was recently awarded $500,000 from city of Long Beach.

[00:11:38] And of course currently they're saying that the city and you know the city believes that they are committed to safe, inclusive, and anti discriminatory workplace in a community for all.

[00:11:54] So obviously we know that was not the case because what he endured when he joined loss loss on Beach police department in 1989.

[00:12:07] He was the first and only black helicopter pilot. He retired in 2019 so it appears that after he retired, he brought this lawsuit first before the statues of limitations were completed.

[00:12:25] So you know I almost really never the smart move because you know he stayed there long as he had to and then when he retired he brought that lawsuit for.

[00:12:37] Why does this sound familiar? Did we talk about this guy before?

[00:12:43] No, I don't think so.

[00:12:45] Okay, the story sounds very familiar.

[00:12:49] Well actually it's good that they did manage to see that there definitely was a problem and that they you know and of course you know putting money on you know on the room like a band-aid would be put on a room.

[00:13:11] So it's a good thing but of course it depends on how deep that wound is as to whether that's going to make that much of a difference because even with the money he still had an endure all the stuff.

[00:13:27] You know and that stuff will never be forgotten and it won't go away so but it's really a shame that he had to do all the he had to endure all of that and we still don't know because we still don't know if he's still having any issues or not.

[00:13:48] And especially with that money being awarded because he might have made some do enemies now.

[00:13:56] Yeah, definitely.

[00:13:58] Well they said the whole Long Beach Police Department.

[00:14:02] Yeah, yeah that's right.

[00:14:04] I would take that money and move.

[00:14:06] I believe you know so but of course you dealing with cops those you know they'll find you if they needed to do so that's all these things.

[00:14:18] But that's really that's good that they they did see there was an error in what was going on there and that they did award him the money.

[00:14:33] Did they ever say what happened to the people that were causing a problem.

[00:14:37] No, they said that even though the city of Long Beach gave him the $500,000 the city was not required to admit any wrongdoing as part of their settlement.

[00:14:50] So they protected those people basically yeah okay.

[00:14:55] Yeah okay well I guess so that was basically okay here take this money setup.

[00:15:01] Right.

[00:15:02] Yeah, yeah.

[00:15:04] All right well I mean at least they gave him something but I know if it was me I wouldn't feel comfortable staying there though.

[00:15:13] I had to you know I had to do something completely different.

[00:15:20] I might be living on the east coast.

[00:15:23] You know I had to do that yeah or go move the iron.

[00:15:28] I can go see the Barack Obama gas station over there.

[00:15:33] That's what I would do so but well you know I guess we'll see if anything more comes of that because that's interesting because like I said, you know.

[00:15:46] We all know the old axiom and the song boy for money.

[00:15:51] No problems.

[00:15:52] Yeah so yeah so okay all right.

[00:15:57] All right we're going to move on to our next story.

[00:16:04] Black Quinn sisters by Widdell and Pratt plantation site of the largest US uprising of enslaved people.

[00:16:14] Joe banner and Joie banner founders of the descendants project acquired Widdell and plantation in the place Louisiana with an unwavering commitment to preserving its historical legacy.

[00:16:31] I've heard of have you ever heard of Widdell and plantation by the way?

[00:16:37] Yeah I've heard of it's a very famous plantation.

[00:16:41] It was like one of the bigger ones in Louisiana and a lot of slaves came through there.

[00:16:50] And I think there was a yeah and there was a big uprising but this is from the backdrop.

[00:16:56] He says growing up in Louisiana on the West Bank of Mississippi River.

[00:17:01] Joe banner and assistant, um, Joie learned about the 1811 year was 1811 revolt by enslaved people from their grandmother.

[00:17:13] The matriarch said that the heads of those who we build and fought for freedom were cut off and put on states along the Mississippi River.

[00:17:23] The story banner said have been passed down in her family from generations to generation through oral tradition but it's not just folklore reports of heads severed and spike to serve as warning to anyone who dream to liberation from oppression or recorded in the articles in the Smithsonian magazine, the guardian.

[00:17:50] The time to pick you and piece and a piece written by Louisiana historian Leon Waters for the Zen education project.

[00:18:04] The 1811 revolt began at the Woodland plantation in Laplace, Louisiana, Charles, Deslundis and about 25 other enslaved people tech manual andry and his son killing the sun as a Mars towards New Orleans enslaved people from other plantations joined them with the crowd of rebels growing to more than 500 people.

[00:18:33] The group was stopped by the military and captured some were put on trial and executed they were freedom fighters Joe banner set of the 1811 revolt participants they were trying to save their lives and the lives of their families.

[00:18:51] I know I've heard a little bit about this before.

[00:19:01] I just didn't know how deep it was and of course something else is not taught to us in history books and stuff like that you know but you would think this would be something that we should all know about you know.

[00:19:17] It says the now the banish sisters are working to save their history as the new owners of that plantation that was owned to what has been described as the largest uprising of enslaved people in American history.

[00:19:33] Apparently they had contact in 2023 she was the owner then the banners had contacted the banners and told them that he planned to put the property up for sale and asked if they were interested in purchasing that according to the records in the same John the Baptist parish clerk of court.

[00:20:02] Office. This is bought the plantation for $750,000 in January.

[00:20:12] That's not a big that's not a big price.

[00:20:15] That's not.

[00:20:17] Especially being a part of history like it is yeah yeah so I'm pretty sure if they do the right things they can make a you know make it the museum.

[00:20:30] You know landmark there.

[00:20:35] You know have you know you know people come through you know and visit the site I mean the potential is great with a place like that especially with having the name that it does so.

[00:20:50] Now and new Orleans being New Orleans I mean I'm sure they think we get the foot traffic you know being down there so.

[00:20:59] I just thought it was interesting that you know you got that type of history and then you have two black females that that were able to purchase that lamp.

[00:21:09] And you know and you know as I guess you know if you look at is kind of honoring the you know what those people went through those freedom fighters went through become free people.

[00:21:27] She's thoughts on that.

[00:21:29] Now I mean you know I definitely agree you know I think we need to buy back as much of our history as possible because you know like when we think about CRT yeah can you imagine let's say non black people buying this and just like i'm stopping that history right there.

[00:21:52] Yeah yeah yeah you know and the fact that they had the opportunity to be able to purchase that because we know I mean 750 thousand dollars and I know that's got to be a big property data say what the dimensions of the property was but i'm sure it's huge because most of the plantations were.

[00:22:11] You know that's you know that's a good look you know.

[00:22:18] You know because you know a lot of times I mean right now you know the houses are going from half a million to a million dollars in most neighbors these days so that's pretty good.

[00:22:31] But who those to the to the battery sisters and hopefully they're able to to make that into something that would be always looked at as a tribute to what those people went through you know back then.

[00:22:48] I thought that was a pretty cool story you know so.

[00:22:54] That's right i thought about reaching out to them just to hear what they had to say about that so I might do that.

[00:23:01] Yeah yeah so.

[00:23:04] All right moving on to our next story so this is a.

[00:23:14] We're in March so in a couple months we will be gearing up for the Olympics.

[00:23:25] I'm a big Olympic person I know Leonard you are too right i am and Leonard is of course a triathlete you know you know he's great to compete in the Olympics some not this one but the next.

[00:23:42] Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah my body my body not holding up to much longer so yeah if it's not this one that maybe now I know yeah maybe now never okay.

[00:23:53] But it's funny because I've always been I've always been fascinated with the Olympics the second remember as even as a kid yeah and because I just remember seeing you know.

[00:24:06] You know looking at all these athletes competing against each other and you know you got the top athletes in the world coming to this thing.

[00:24:16] I saw yesterday did you see the report that they were giving out night 9000 well there's 9000 athletes they're giving out over 300,000 condoms because they've relaxed.

[00:24:28] Oh no I did not.

[00:24:30] They were having relaxed the local habitating rules so you know so they built stronger bids for the athlete.

[00:24:40] Oh my goodness yeah because everybody was talking about how plenty of the bids were before but anyway.

[00:24:47] What would what would they you know like even when I think about it can you imagine being an Olympic athlete and your event was on the first day of the Olympics and then you have the rest of the time free.

[00:25:00] Yeah yeah yeah yeah you probably be walking around hanging out you know partying every day.

[00:25:06] I was all kinds of trouble man you know so but that's uh that's that's it you know especially if you you go to something like that because I know well I know you imagine because just think in Atlanta you know when they go down in Atlanta or in LA.

[00:25:26] Oh yeah.

[00:25:27] Because the next one's in LA right.

[00:25:30] Are they back in the States again the next one I'm 60.

[00:25:35] I'm not sure okay um for some reason I think they're back here in the United States so but anyway I was looking at an article earlier and they were talking about

[00:25:48] uh for those people that are big Olympic people what are the three things that you look forward to seeing your top three things that you look forward to seeing during the during the Olympics.

[00:26:01] I think I already know two of yours already so well they I'm gonna ask you to guess mine.

[00:26:07] Well swimming yeah okay I know you I know you watch this one and of course I know you watch track and field.

[00:26:16] I'm not there.

[00:26:17] Yeah so but what would be the other one?

[00:26:20] I'm gonna let you guess okay uh let me see so we got swimming we got track and field I'm going to say oh I know it's not basketball.

[00:26:35] No no I know I already know that even though that would be obvious I'm going to say boxer.

[00:26:43] Nope.

[00:26:45] Oh wait oh no that's winter Olympic so I know it's not dead um wait lifting?

[00:26:54] Nope.

[00:26:57] What about this swimming track or field?

[00:27:01] So news and trends fans somebody doesn't know their sports like they think they do.

[00:27:08] Are you alone?

[00:27:10] Are you alone?

[00:27:11] You got you got the track and field you got swimming.

[00:27:21] Uh are you going to watch soccer?

[00:27:27] Oh no.

[00:27:29] All right tell me what's your other sport?

[00:27:33] I'm gonna be watching the track line see who wins the gold and that's part of the track and field.

[00:27:40] No no it's not.

[00:27:42] It is so part of the track and field.

[00:27:44] No it's not.

[00:27:46] That is not held outside of the track and field event.

[00:27:50] Yes it is.

[00:27:51] Oh my god.

[00:27:52] See I knew I knew you're going to go to a caveat.

[00:27:56] Okay so it is well why did you say that track and field instead of saying that swimmer?

[00:28:02] Why didn't you say that swimmer?

[00:28:05] What?

[00:28:08] What the triathlon?

[00:28:10] Yeah.

[00:28:11] That's swimming because it's mostly because most of the events you're going to do are mostly considered to be part of track and field.

[00:28:20] No because if you say most swimming and cycling, me there those are considered track and field.

[00:28:30] But listen date day back.

[00:28:35] Date day does date does.

[00:28:37] But that's a field event though.

[00:28:40] No no it's not.

[00:28:42] Totally different.

[00:28:44] Okay all right he just.

[00:28:47] He just been.

[00:28:48] No no no.

[00:28:49] The um so you know what?

[00:28:53] So you like to try out line more than the decathlon right?

[00:28:59] Well but the decathlon part of track and field triathlon is not.

[00:29:04] Okay so for those that are not familiar with the triathlon, why don't you tell them what the triathlon consists of?

[00:29:14] Okay there you so for the Olympics.

[00:29:18] The triathlon consists of 1500 meters open water swimming.

[00:29:26] Then it consists of a 24 mile bike ride.

[00:29:33] And it finishes with the 10 kilometer run, which is about 6.2 miles back to back to back.

[00:29:41] Right no break.

[00:29:44] True so most people would consider.

[00:29:50] The running and the cycling part.

[00:29:54] You know part of field events.

[00:29:58] Now of course isn't no well date day nothing about triathlon takes place in the stadium.

[00:30:06] Yeah no it's all outside I mean yeah it was fun.

[00:30:09] Yeah but I mean yeah okay all right.

[00:30:12] Yeah he tried.

[00:30:13] No no date no that's the date date.

[00:30:16] There's two different but there's three different preparations.

[00:30:20] They're the US swimming Federation.

[00:30:23] That's head of all US swimming.

[00:30:27] They're USA track and field, which is USA TF.

[00:30:33] That's the track and field Federation.

[00:30:36] And that's the running part.

[00:30:38] That's the running part right?

[00:30:39] No no.

[00:30:40] The US A T which is United States triathlon totally different.

[00:30:47] Dave you know what?

[00:30:49] Just say thank you for educating me.

[00:30:53] Just say thank you.

[00:30:54] Just say thank you.

[00:30:55] It's easy.

[00:30:57] Thank you for finding the only way to communicate with you.

[00:31:01] Yes.

[00:31:02] The only loophole to what if but anyway I do with your first two things are going to be

[00:31:07] what's going to be the track and field and of course the what's it called?

[00:31:16] The swimming because letters of former swimmer swimmer for those of you that don't know.

[00:31:21] He still swims but you know but you know you he swim competitively for a while.

[00:31:28] And then and swimming is pretty exciting.

[00:31:32] I mean it's going to be interesting this year because they're going to have a lot of new faces this year right now.

[00:31:36] Yeah well Dave you mentioned one of the funny things about swimming.

[00:31:40] You know when when the Olympics comes there's some sports that kind of flip flop.

[00:31:47] So it was like you know basketball is not a popular Olympic sport.

[00:31:52] You know not like it is like the NBA right.

[00:31:55] You know because we're expected to win most of the time and right on top is really popular when we could be.

[00:32:02] Yeah but like let's take swimming swimming ordinarily is not a popularly watched sport in you know the United States.

[00:32:12] But come to Olympics swimming is like one of the top five most watched sports.

[00:32:18] Yeah it is yeah and you know they keep it they keep it pretty compelling you know I mean you know we've been fortunate enough to have been very competitive in swimming always.

[00:32:30] So you know and you know we've had some people to really dominate.

[00:32:36] Oh are they going to let your girls swim this year?

[00:32:42] Yeah no no no no.

[00:32:49] Black girl.

[00:32:51] No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no.

[00:32:55] Yeah.

[00:32:56] The only leotimes.

[00:32:58] Yeah there you go.

[00:33:01] So did they rule against her swimming?

[00:33:05] I'm not sure but Olympic trials are in June so if she goes to Olympic trials but you know I'm not sure if it's swimming or not.

[00:33:18] But then mate there's two other international transgender athletes who are competing as women that might shake some things up if they're allowed because you know me.

[00:33:30] You can already imagine some nations complaining but you know we'll have to see.

[00:33:36] But yeah Olympic trials are in June I don't know whether she will show up for that or not and you know how she will place but I mean we.

[00:33:46] We have to wait and see.

[00:33:49] Right right.

[00:33:51] Yeah for those who didn't catch what we were talking about there's a young lady who finished her college career last that was last year right?

[00:34:01] Yeah she can.

[00:34:02] Yeah okay finished her college career but since the transgender swimmer who was born male became female.

[00:34:12] And has been you know racing as a woman and has done very well for itself.

[00:34:21] You know in these races and she did so the desire to want to compete in the Olympics now of course I know there was supposed to be you know some type of ruling involved in whether they were on a let transgender athletes compete.

[00:34:40] And so I guess we'll find that out sooner or later I guess because you know it would be Olympics of beer in a few months.

[00:34:51] So and of course that can open the door for a lot of different athletes through compete as right.

[00:35:03] So and I think it's that's impressive too you know how are you okay once they open it then I mean once once they open that door it's hard to close.

[00:35:13] Yeah yeah that's true that is true.

[00:35:17] I know myself in my three favorite things of course you and I always talk about track and field I'm looking really forward to track and field this time around because I want to see what chicari Richardson does if she you know she missed the Olympic teams the last time.

[00:35:38] But she's a different person this time around and she's grown a lot and she's been very dominant in racing this year and a fact she was named what's your name female.

[00:35:52] Yeah yeah.

[00:35:53] I think she was named overall female athlete of the year as well.

[00:35:58] So she's really gotten her head on straight.

[00:36:03] She didn't even kind of pass things up with the Jamaicans you know so and I think this is going to be speaking up to Jamaicans.

[00:36:14] What's your calm.

[00:36:19] The spread out like for easier breaks yeah yeah I think this was a big early Olympics I think she's going to stop running after this year but I'm sure that Jamaicans are going to come out and they're going to try to show off this time around you know in the Olympics because the American women have been doing their thing.

[00:36:38] Yeah yeah you know they beaten the Jamaicans a couple times in the championship the world championships and so it's going to be really interesting when the Olympic trials come around and everything to see who goes to the Olympics and so forth but I'm a big track and field person I like.

[00:36:56] I like to watch this women too.

[00:37:00] I actually like watching gymnastics too yeah yeah especially it's going to be some intrigue this year with some own balls coming back right and Gabby Douglas if she makes it.

[00:37:15] And but man there's a slew of black young females it's a lot of them out there and they're all doing pretty well so and that's saying you know that's all because of some own balls you know because they wanted to compete and so forth so that's really cool.

[00:37:33] I watch some of the college competitions from time to time and man these girls are out there killing it right now man so.

[00:37:42] A lot of these white programs that have been notoriously white for years have a lot of sisters on them now you know so so it's going to be interesting you know the basketball is kind of anti climatics for me because you he kind of you know either they're going to.

[00:38:02] Will you expect them to win but it all depends on who goes over there and you know i rather i rather watch the women's basketball than the men to be honest with you.

[00:38:17] So um but the you know i like watching the um the.

[00:38:27] The marathon yeah because that always is intriguing to cause man i don't see how they run like that all the time and that's a that's a long was like 26 months or something like that right 26.2 yeah yeah that's a lot of running so.

[00:38:48] Well they they if you think the marathon a lot of running have you heard of the Iron Man yeah yeah yeah so that the iron man is a 2.4 mile swell.

[00:39:05] I'm 100 and like a hundred and 12 mile bike ride and then a marathon at the end of that's.

[00:39:16] Wow that's crazy how do people do that man i know i mean how do you train for that i don't know you know every day all day you have to dedicate it.

[00:39:32] Well when you look at when you look at track and feel and you look at the bodies of some of the runners like you can almost pick it up and this is you know when you think about what we would you just said about you know how.

[00:39:47] How the iron man competition goes and whatever you track and feel you can tell who the long distance runners are you can tell who the spinners are you can tell who who the mid distance people just by how they're built you know because you know the long distance runners are usually center they got you know they they're kind of lean.

[00:40:13] And you know when you look at the spinners the spinners are more muscle built even though some of them are slim.

[00:40:23] Like no fine though yeah i was saying I'm going to say no lies i mean he's like a slim bill but yeah he's slim but he's put together yeah you know yeah um you know so you can kind of tell who the who who who's going to be long distance and all that kind of stuff.

[00:40:42] And it's always interesting because those guys who the real muscular ones you know like back in the day it was a lot of muscular guys if you notice it like especially the male spinners and so forth but you know how lean a lot of more now.

[00:40:56] Right yeah you know so that's because they have a you know they didn't change up from the philosophy about how they run now you know and so but the Olympics is just a really good time to watch real Ashley.

[00:41:11] And that's one of the reasons that you know always get excited when the Olympics come around to be able to watch I mean folks it's a few times on the Olympics.

[00:41:21] I know last Olympics or whatever i was calling it I say did you see that race and you know you know you know and of course when the Americans are on the field you know we're always especially the relays because yeah.

[00:41:36] Yeah and then relays man they be gone added on the relays so so but you guys when you when you think about it when you think about it tell us what your favorite sports and what you're looking forward to as far as the Olympics are concerned you know we just want you know I just wanted to put it out there because let's see what you guys feel about.

[00:41:59] You know what you're looking forward to and so forth perhaps i'm trying to remember I think like I said I think it for years is supposed to be here if i'm not staying because it seemed like somebody was telling me they were planning to go I think it's back in California again.

[00:42:17] Or as a down so you got my money yeah.

[00:42:23] I might said that was going to be a hot ticket.

[00:42:27] Alright let me see we got the whole city.

[00:42:30] What year is that that would be we're in 2018.

[00:42:35] Yeah alright so yeah 2028 is lost and it was.

[00:42:44] Yeah that's what I thought yeah once I was so careful.

[00:42:47] Yeah man that's going to be one big part of it.

[00:42:53] Would you would you try to go something like that?

[00:42:57] I will try to go when it's in LA.

[00:43:02] Did you hear that folks learned that they will try to go when it's in LA okay.

[00:43:09] That's all of you answer my phone call because you know when it's time to go places you know you'd be home chilling.

[00:43:19] Yeah okay alright here we go alright alright so that would be cool man I'm the course that now that's a trip I know you have to book real early to be able to get there.

[00:43:32] And that Dave's up those hotels are probably already sky high.

[00:43:36] Yeah yeah you've imagined for you look people booking for four years from now sure yeah yeah.

[00:43:43] Alright okay well we'll see yeah that folks news and trends will be we'll be doing a show for the Olympics in four years okay.

[00:43:52] Alright okay that brings us to Dave corner.

[00:44:02] Linda's favorite part of the show I figured I keep it even a simple form and make it a little make it easy for him this time because he says I've been getting more questions lately so I figured I'm make it easy for him.

[00:44:18] So in honor of National Women's Month which the whole month of March is do we get a national men's month.

[00:44:27] Of course not Dave are our national men's month is on the 29th February of everywhere every look every year.

[00:44:41] Yeah but anyway so maybe think about this.

[00:44:52] Think about three prominent women from your past or even from the present three prominent women from history or you know that are prominent right now.

[00:45:06] Who would be the three women that you see as most inspirational to you.

[00:45:12] To me yeah now then I'm not talking about relatives anyway well no you might have a relative that might be famous I don't know.

[00:45:22] To me.

[00:45:27] It's a hard one.

[00:45:29] Yeah you said that about every question.

[00:45:34] I would say and maybe a little cliche but I'll say Michelle Obama.

[00:45:43] Of course I knew that was going to be that that was one of the easy throw outs out there but yeah of course Michelle Obama okay I'll say Harriet Tubman okay all right.

[00:45:57] And.

[00:46:02] Hmm.

[00:46:09] Last one maybe a little hard.

[00:46:17] So I'll say at one point.

[00:46:21] I'm never really.

[00:46:26] I'm never really.

[00:46:28] And the reason why say her is a little bit different because when I heard the story of how she started radio one.

[00:46:36] And she was sleeping on her floor trying to get it up and started that would when I was a young girl with Delaware black dot com and you know Dave that the struggle is real so you know just kind of doing what you have to do it.

[00:46:50] I think I only slept on the floor one time but you know the struggle was still the struggle.

[00:46:59] Okay.

[00:47:00] What about you?

[00:47:02] Well and for those who didn't catch it actually everything he said of Deborah Lee is the person that started radio one TV one.

[00:47:16] She was.

[00:47:21] She like right behind over for most women you know so you know okay in reference to my picks of course that was that was one of them right there it's over one free.

[00:47:36] But even though you know her reputation is kind of take a little hit hit lately with some things you know those big and who was the color purple but you know there's no mistaken.

[00:47:53] Oprah is definitely the event bark when it comes to media and.

[00:48:01] You know you know you know journalism all of that stuff you know so definitely definitely Oprah Winfrey.

[00:48:13] I'm also going to throw out there.

[00:48:23] Well I was going to say Michelle Obama but of course I knew you would say at first that was you know but of course you know oh but Michelle Obama would be on my list as well.

[00:48:33] But um.

[00:48:39] I'm also going to say um.

[00:48:44] I'm going to say um.

[00:48:49] Why is that really Tyson saying like when I was younger and growing up.

[00:49:00] I was going to say that she was the most humble person and she was the most humble person and keeping my.

[00:49:20] I was the actress as she was she didn't make a lot of money during her career.

[00:49:28] I think he made her first million dollars in one of Tyler Perry's movie yeah so um.

[00:49:36] After all the great roles that she had done prior to that so um but I really was a big fan of Cesson Lee Tyson.

[00:49:48] Another woman I'm going to say is Maya Angela.

[00:49:55] You know um.

[00:49:58] What can you not say about my Angela the way she wrote the the poignant words and and palms and um.

[00:50:13] Just her you know there's certain people that talk and when they talk you just want to hear what they have to say like.

[00:50:24] You might be switch to do the channel you see it that person on TV and you stop for that moment just to see what they're talking about.

[00:50:30] You know she had that type of presence about her she had that type of.

[00:50:36] Um Maya's um Maya's talking you got to you got to stop you got to stop what you're doing you got to listen to what she has to say.

[00:50:44] That was her and you know when you got that kind you know Oprah has that type of way about her too you know when you see those type of women talking you definitely want to definitely listen to what they have to say.

[00:50:55] I felt the same way about Cesson Lee Tyson as uh.

[00:51:00] When I was growing up so those would do my three right there.

[00:51:06] Would they all have in common?

[00:51:11] Would they all have in common?

[00:51:14] They're black woman.

[00:51:15] There you go.

[00:51:16] I was going to say please don't get that wrong.

[00:51:21] Yeah.

[00:51:24] You know we've never really given black women all the credit that they they deserve and in a question like this it's easy to throw out some white women and say you know these people.

[00:51:41] I mean there's some great white women.

[00:51:43] I mean um.

[00:51:48] To most of my young adult life.

[00:51:52] One of the people that I used to love and used to make sure I watch every time they were on TV because they just had you in stitches.

[00:52:00] Curlb and net.

[00:52:02] Curlb and net show was funny.

[00:52:07] And I tell you I was a big Joan Rivers fan too because he was yeah.

[00:52:12] Yeah, Joan Rivers.

[00:52:14] Yeah so I thought she was funny.

[00:52:16] I thought Joan Rivers was funny when especially when she had her show but Curlb and net.

[00:52:22] Really helped to save a lot of us coming up during that particular time and even in the reruns because there's a lot of young people that that watch her.

[00:52:31] You know because the show was funny.

[00:52:33] So but you know when it comes to most inspirational.

[00:52:38] You know black women don't take a backseat to anybody.

[00:52:44] Yeah so.

[00:52:46] So guys when you hear this question and you listen to this show think about those women that might be your inspirational women.

[00:52:58] It is national women's month.

[00:53:02] So you know I'd like to hear what you guys would have to say in answering that question.

[00:53:08] Okay.

[00:53:10] All right there we have it.

[00:53:12] That's our show for the night Leonard actually made it through the show.

[00:53:17] He's probably after we hang up then he's going to go out and have a good time and and cut up with everybody and be talking normal.

[00:53:26] You know you know you know so.

[00:53:29] If you all see him in the street and he's talking normal y'all know he was just trying to you know play everybody so okay.

[00:53:37] So anything you want to add in your half voice right now man.

[00:53:41] Okay all right you'll tell everybody in person when you see him later on.

[00:53:46] Okay but thank you for making it through the show.

[00:53:52] We were able to get through people so thank you for tuning in and we will talk to you guys soon.

[00:54:01] Okay have a good night.
