[00:00.000 --> 00:02.000] Okay. [00:30.800 --> 00:34.240] Welcome, welcome, welcome to News and Trendz with Dave and Len. [00:34.800 --> 00:42.320] This is one of your hosts, Mr. David Coker, proprietor of Dave Mark Inc, promoter, event planner, [00:42.320 --> 00:46.720] music management, marketing specialist, and all-around good guy. [00:46.720 --> 00:49.520] I'm hanging out with Mr. Leonard Young. What's happening, sir? [00:50.160 --> 00:55.360] Hey, Dave. Everything is going good. This is Leonard Young, CEO of National Black Guide, [00:55.360 --> 01:00.240] DelawareBlack.com, black media specialist, and all-around good guy. [01:01.280 --> 01:04.240] Everything's going good, Dave. No complaints, you know, [01:06.320 --> 01:11.360] trying to, still trying to goal set for this 2024 that's among us. [01:13.200 --> 01:19.680] Yeah, I know. When you make all that moolah this year and [01:20.400 --> 01:30.080] make it work to build your vacation home and, you know, build my home for me. [01:30.080 --> 01:33.360] Yeah, yeah. We got to make sure that happens for us this year, man. [01:34.240 --> 01:38.800] Well, you know, they said they said the real currency is your health. [01:38.800 --> 01:42.560] So I'm going to focus on the real currency this year. [01:43.120 --> 01:46.480] I'm going to try to make all the health money I can. [01:47.280 --> 01:53.680] Right, right. Okay. Well, well, I guess I can't complain with that even though, [01:54.720 --> 01:57.920] you know, I guess I could appreciate it a little more than you. [02:00.240 --> 02:11.680] I got, you know, my 365 days around the sun that's coming up again next month. [02:12.480 --> 02:21.040] And, you know, so always got to look forward to being able to say, huh, I made it one more year, [02:21.040 --> 02:23.920] you know, so. You got anything special going on for this year? [02:26.080 --> 02:34.000] Trying to see if we can work on something. I will probably be making an announcement about that [02:36.000 --> 02:39.520] soon because we're trying to see if we can get that finalized. [02:39.520 --> 02:49.920] Of course, with everything that's going on, you never know. So, you know, so we'll see. [02:49.920 --> 02:55.840] We'll see. Probably by our next show, I can, I could probably say for sure whether or not, [02:56.480 --> 03:01.360] hopefully, after talking to people involved to see if we're going to do anything. [03:02.160 --> 03:03.200] Gotcha. Okay. [03:03.840 --> 03:16.160] Yeah. So the, you know, we had a little sprinkling of snow this past weekend. And [03:16.960 --> 03:20.480] I don't know. I don't know, Leonard. I think we were going to get some snow this year, man. [03:20.480 --> 03:28.080] I mean, I hope so. You know, the last couple of years, it kind of toyed with us. And I mean, [03:28.080 --> 03:32.880] and they wait way back when they said that this was going to be a bad winter. [03:33.680 --> 03:38.240] Yeah. Yeah. I think, you know, it's kind of taking this time really getting, [03:40.480 --> 03:47.760] excuse me, really getting cold. But, you know, we've had cool days, but we haven't had real [03:48.800 --> 03:57.360] cold days yet. I mean, you know, but I think that's about to change soon. So, I guess we'll [03:58.800 --> 04:02.400] see what happens. But I think we will be getting some snow sometime soon. [04:02.880 --> 04:11.680] If we can, I think this month and next month will be the two months that will kind of dictate [04:11.680 --> 04:20.400] where we're going. So we'll see what happens. So happy new year to those, because we didn't [04:20.400 --> 04:25.680] get a chance to say happy new year to anybody. You know, I'm not going to say whose fault [04:25.680 --> 04:31.840] there was. But anyway, but happy new year to everyone. You know, it's funny, I've been [04:31.840 --> 04:36.400] hearing debates about how long you should keep saying happy new year to people. [04:37.440 --> 04:43.920] I know. So Dave, I mean, what is the debate about? Because I almost feel like any time in [04:44.560 --> 04:49.680] the first two weeks of January, when you first see somebody, it's okay. But have you heard [04:49.680 --> 04:55.200] different? Well, people have been saying that after the first week, [04:55.200 --> 05:05.200] you should probably stop saying it. But then, I don't know, I guess I've been different, [05:05.200 --> 05:12.560] because if I don't see, if I don't bump, it's one thing, there's certain people or certain [05:13.280 --> 05:20.720] groups of people that you see on a regular basis. If you don't see all of them in the first month [05:21.440 --> 05:27.840] of the new year, then I still think it's susceptible to say happy new year in that first month. [05:30.240 --> 05:36.160] And it also coincides with being able to start writing the date without putting 23. [05:38.800 --> 05:43.360] Because once you start getting it in your head, it's not 23 anymore, and you stop writing it, [05:44.160 --> 05:48.720] then you stop saying happy new year. That's the way I look at it. [05:48.720 --> 05:55.680] Yeah, I agree. Today was the first day I wrote 2024. And I consciously made sure I wrote the [05:55.680 --> 06:04.400] right year. Yeah, yeah. But a lot of people do, they'll say, they'll say, okay, we know what he [06:04.400 --> 06:11.200] meant. That type of thing, because they know it's the beginning of the year and so forth. [06:11.200 --> 06:15.920] And so they see 2023, they kind of give you a pass on it because they know what's going on. [06:18.480 --> 06:22.720] But for those, like I said, we didn't get a chance to say happy new year to you. [06:22.720 --> 06:30.880] And we just wanted to make sure that we said that. Unfortunately, our year kind of started off on a [06:30.880 --> 06:43.680] somber note, and we have to give our brother some love. We've been kind of filling you guys in on [06:46.960 --> 06:57.680] our friend and partner, Mr. Tim Baird, or we know him as DJ Tim Doll. [06:58.640 --> 07:01.760] That's the voice you hear in the beginning and the end of our show. [07:04.400 --> 07:07.280] Unfortunately, you heard us talk about his daughter. [07:10.240 --> 07:14.880] Unfortunately, this past weekend, she lost her fight with cancer. [07:16.160 --> 07:22.880] And we just want you to keep him in prayer and his family in prayer as they go through [07:22.960 --> 07:33.120] the loss of his daughter. And I'm sure him and his wife are listening. [07:35.520 --> 07:44.960] Of course, from our show to you guys, our sincere condolences to the loss of your family. [07:45.920 --> 07:52.400] And keep your head up. And we're here for you, whatever you need. [07:54.480 --> 07:55.760] Anything you want to add to that? [07:56.800 --> 08:00.080] Yeah, I mean, definitely just want to send out prayers and strength. [08:02.800 --> 08:08.800] I think that was something that we were hoping would not happen. And [08:09.680 --> 08:17.520] DJ Tim Doll is really, really a great person. He's very caring. And I think if he considers you a [08:17.520 --> 08:26.240] friend, you are a lucky person. And when you told me the news, my heart dropped. [08:28.400 --> 08:36.800] So if anyone knows him, keep him in your prayers. If you see him around, just be understanding of what [08:36.800 --> 08:43.680] he's going through. And I think a lot of times we try to bombard people out of what we think [08:43.680 --> 08:52.160] is helpful. But anyone who knows him, just be mindful. Keep him in your prayers. And [08:53.120 --> 08:59.120] we're wishing our best for the strength of him and his family. [08:59.120 --> 09:10.000] That is definitely, definitely true. And yeah, let's keep him uplifted. And if you see him, [09:10.000 --> 09:18.160] give him a hug. I'm sure he would appreciate it. And the story that she fought actually was almost [09:20.560 --> 09:27.920] like a memoir, as far as from the moment that he started talking about it until it ended. But [09:29.120 --> 09:36.960] you know, she fought a good fight and she was, you know, everybody was content with what [09:38.400 --> 09:45.040] ended in the past because she wasn't going to let this take her out. She decided to [09:47.040 --> 09:54.320] handle it herself. So as far as being able to go out on our own terms, let's put it that way. [09:55.280 --> 10:01.440] Okay, so we just wanted to make sure you guys were aware, because it's funny, before we came [10:01.440 --> 10:05.120] on the show and there was somebody that just texted me and asked how she was doing. [10:05.920 --> 10:12.880] So, and I had to let that person know, or one of our Texas listeners, Claudette. [10:14.240 --> 10:17.360] So, you know, so just wanted to [10:18.240 --> 10:23.360] make sure that everyone was aware of that. You know, so [10:24.800 --> 10:34.720] all right. So we're going to get into our stories. And our first story, [10:36.080 --> 10:39.840] you know, it's hard to believe that we're still dealing with stuff like this. [10:40.720 --> 10:51.360] I saw the story and I just said, wow, this is crazy. But the story is about a black family [10:52.880 --> 11:00.880] scared after car painted with the N word over a ledge parking spot. So this is the story. [11:00.880 --> 11:13.360] According to KTLA San Pedro native Reginald Scott says this red Ford Mustang was vandalized [11:13.360 --> 11:20.400] between Christmas and New Year's Day. The suspects sprayed painted a large message [11:20.960 --> 11:28.800] on the side of Scott's car that read Merry Christmas N word. I couldn't believe this [11:28.800 --> 11:38.720] happened to me in San Pedro Scott told KTLA. The suspects also painted swastikas on the bumpers [11:38.720 --> 11:46.960] of the vehicle and the tires were also slashed. It's just wrong because they flattened the tires. [11:46.960 --> 11:53.440] They damaged it. Paul Prius, the victim's neighbor said it's just something you don't [11:53.440 --> 12:02.320] want to see every day because what if that could have been my vehicle? Reginald Scott also told the [12:02.320 --> 12:09.840] publication that the vandalism could have been retaliation for parking in front of a neighbor's [12:09.840 --> 12:16.560] house. Even if you park where you're not supposed to be, I don't think that gives you the right [12:16.560 --> 12:25.520] to spray paint somebody's car and call them a racial slur. Scottie's son told KTLA that's hurtful. [12:26.080 --> 12:30.720] This isn't the first time Scott's car has been vandalized in the neighborhood and his family is [12:30.720 --> 12:38.320] terrified that things could continue to escalate. Scott told KTLA that he's been targeted twice [12:38.320 --> 12:48.240] before by vandals, including someone setting his truck on fire two years ago. He also told a story [12:48.240 --> 12:54.720] from Halloween about getting his tires cut once before. They cut my truck tires and sprayed some [12:54.720 --> 13:02.640] stuff all over to where I think they're starting to up it and we're starting to get scared about [13:02.640 --> 13:09.920] being here. Scott's wife worries that vandals could get bolder and says she's concerned for [13:09.920 --> 13:15.440] their children's safety. She doesn't want the doors to be unlocked. Scott says she's pretty much [13:16.160 --> 13:23.680] on high alert. Scott has filed a police report in hopes that police will catch the suspects. [13:24.320 --> 13:31.520] In the meantime, the family has created a GoFundMe to help repair the damages to the vehicle [13:31.520 --> 13:36.240] and help the family cope during this stressful time. This is [13:39.840 --> 13:45.840] very sad. You see the picture of the car there, Leonard? [13:47.360 --> 13:53.520] No, I don't. Oh, okay. If you pull up the story, they definitely... [13:53.520 --> 14:03.840] I think it's a Shelby Mustang and they definitely painted it. They messed it up pretty bad [14:04.560 --> 14:16.240] with the language that they did. It's really a shame that the family has to enjoy this. Now, [14:16.240 --> 14:21.440] I understand having a problem or issue with a person if they park in front of [14:22.400 --> 14:29.680] somebody else's house and people know that that parking space is not their parking space. [14:30.560 --> 14:37.120] People are pretty territorial in neighborhoods. Fortunately enough, we're not... You and I live [14:37.120 --> 14:45.760] in neighborhoods that's not like that, but I come from a neighborhood... I come from the city [14:46.400 --> 14:53.760] and the city, they're territorial in the city. But even, to be honest, in neighborhoods like ours, [14:55.840 --> 15:00.320] it could happen too. I could say, I don't know all my names. [15:01.360 --> 15:09.760] Yeah, that's true. But we have parking spaces. You know what I mean? Places we can park. [15:10.720 --> 15:16.880] This might be a neighborhood that might not have those type of privileges where you park on the [15:16.880 --> 15:22.880] street and you park where you can. I come from them kind of neighborhoods, so I understand that. [15:25.680 --> 15:31.040] I used to live in Wilmington and there was a neighbor of mine. She could park anywhere on [15:31.040 --> 15:34.560] the street. She felt like it, but don't park in front of her house. If you park in front of [15:34.560 --> 15:39.600] her house, you're going to have a problem. You know what I mean? So people are just territorial [15:39.600 --> 15:48.080] like that. It's really a shame, but then when you take it to another level and you vandalize [15:48.080 --> 15:54.720] somebody's car, first of all, this guy got... The way his car is painted, it's like, [15:56.160 --> 15:59.600] he has a racing strike going down the center of his car. It's a Mustang. [16:00.160 --> 16:04.880] Yeah, I brought up the picture, so I see it now. That's crazy. [16:04.880 --> 16:09.040] So that paint job, that's going to cost him some money to get that repaint. [16:12.880 --> 16:16.640] And to cut the tires too, and I know those tires ain't cheap for those cars, so [16:19.200 --> 16:25.680] that's really messed up. Instead of just talking to the person and saying, hey, look, [16:26.480 --> 16:35.600] you parked in front of the house, is there a particular reason? Or if it's blocking a driveway [16:35.600 --> 16:39.280] or something like that, you could talk to the person and try to get that straightened out. [16:40.800 --> 16:51.120] But that's really crazy to go and do all of that. And first of all, I'm trying to figure out [16:51.120 --> 16:55.440] how they did it without being seen, because somebody had to see them do it. [17:01.680 --> 17:09.120] I guess they don't have a security camera or our favorite friend, the ring camera, [17:09.120 --> 17:12.640] out there to pay attention to what's going on out there in the neighborhood. But [17:14.560 --> 17:20.320] unfortunately, and the people that probably do know probably ain't going to say anything, [17:20.880 --> 17:28.640] but hopefully, if they know who it is, that they've done something to, well, I don't know, [17:28.640 --> 17:32.720] they probably haven't, because they seem to be really fearful of what's going on around there. [17:33.840 --> 17:40.720] Maybe they're in one of those neighborhoods that maybe if they tell, somebody tells, [17:40.720 --> 17:53.280] somebody might get more. But I saw the story, and I just said, well, here we are. We're 20, 24, [17:53.280 --> 18:00.800] and we're still dealing. These issues about race and everything, and the tension, the racial tension, [18:02.000 --> 18:07.440] it's really real. And we have to be really mindful, especially in these neighborhoods where [18:08.400 --> 18:18.160] we have mixed races living amongst each other. But I just wanted to bring that to people's attention. [18:20.800 --> 18:25.600] Yeah, I guess we always got to stay woke, you know what I mean? We always got to pay attention, [18:25.600 --> 18:29.840] and we always got to stay woke. Now, I would probably suggest to them they get a camera [18:29.840 --> 18:37.840] where they can get stuff on tape, if they don't have one, to get stuff on tape that shows [18:38.720 --> 18:42.880] what may have happened. When this kind of thing happens, you can catch them in the act. [18:43.520 --> 18:50.240] But it's really a shame that somebody would vandalize somebody else's property [18:51.200 --> 18:59.200] just to make a point, and then to be throwing racial slurs out there. That's just not cool [18:59.200 --> 19:07.920] these days. It really isn't. Yeah, I agree. And Dave, I do agree with you. It's not hard for me [19:07.920 --> 19:16.720] to believe that people feel a certain way, but for people to actually take action and purposefully [19:18.240 --> 19:25.360] say these racial statements, that's what still amazes me. Because even though in this case, [19:25.360 --> 19:30.720] they did not get caught by cameras, there's cameras everywhere. Have you watched some of [19:30.720 --> 19:37.040] these crime shows where the police go afterwards? There's cameras on top of cameras that we didn't [19:37.040 --> 19:45.920] know were there. And even I think about them, they think, oh, we're not thieves because, [19:46.720 --> 19:51.600] you know, I think thieving back in the day was a lot easier than it is now. [19:52.080 --> 19:59.040] Now, cameras are everywhere. People are always recording. Anywhere you go, [19:59.040 --> 20:02.160] something crazy happened the first time people were doing breaking out of their cell phones. [20:02.160 --> 20:11.840] So it is kind of amazing that they were able to mark up that car and nobody saw anything. [20:12.800 --> 20:19.760] So, I mean, you know, hopefully, you know, something comes of it, but possibly not. [20:21.040 --> 20:29.200] Yeah, yeah, that's true. Because I'm sure somebody saw them do something. I mean, [20:29.200 --> 20:37.200] of course, we know somebody knows something. So I wouldn't be surprised if they had. [20:37.200 --> 20:42.560] Excuse me, I wouldn't be surprised if they have an idea who it is. They just [20:43.200 --> 20:50.560] probably, you know, haven't said anything, you know. So, yeah. So we'll see what happens [20:50.560 --> 20:57.360] with this story. Hopefully, they do get some justice. They started a GoFundMe page to try [20:57.360 --> 21:05.760] to help with, you know, getting the damages done fixed on the car because I'm sure that's [21:05.760 --> 21:12.080] a lot of money to get that car painted and to get the tires replaced. So that's another [21:12.080 --> 21:16.800] thing, too. Slashing the tires. How do you do that without being seen, too? You know, so. [21:16.800 --> 21:17.280] Yeah. [21:17.280 --> 21:25.680] I mean, you know, so. Well, hopefully, they'll get some kind of reprieve on that. And maybe [21:25.680 --> 21:31.520] the cops will step in and keep it from happening again. Or, you know, maybe they're just trying [21:31.520 --> 21:36.960] to get them to move out of the neighborhood. And sometimes you got to take the hit. You know, [21:36.960 --> 21:44.240] it may be good to get out of there if it's, you know. But if it's just one bad apple, [21:44.240 --> 21:47.120] you know, then you got to get them out of there. You know what I mean? So. [21:47.120 --> 21:49.120] Yeah, I definitely agree with that. [21:49.120 --> 21:56.720] Yeah. So. All right. So we'll keep you posted on that story. All right. Let's move on to our next [21:56.720 --> 22:07.200] story. Yeah. So the next story I saw today, and I think it's semi-accurate and semi-misleading at [22:07.200 --> 22:12.880] the same time. So it says that the title of the story, this was a Newsweek story, said Donald Trump [22:12.880 --> 22:20.480] is poised to win more black votes than any Republican in history. And the article goes [22:20.480 --> 22:28.960] on to saying that according to a national and swing state poll reviewed by Bloomberg, [22:29.520 --> 22:37.680] the former president and GOP front runner had between 14 and 30 percent of the black vote [22:38.560 --> 22:46.400] share as a country heads into an election year. And it's saying that the record for the percentage [22:46.400 --> 22:58.080] of black vote was in 1960 presidential election when Richard Nixon won 32 percent of the black vote [22:59.360 --> 23:06.480] as a Republican. And, you know, so it was kind of funny hearing that because I'm like, okay, Dave, [23:07.680 --> 23:12.000] I know that, you know, there are a lot of black people who, you know, they may not be as vocal, [23:12.000 --> 23:16.720] but a lot of black people who are voting for Trump. And, you know, Dave, it's even weird. A [23:16.720 --> 23:21.920] lot of the celebrities, black celebrities, you know, like I hear about a lot of the rappers [23:21.920 --> 23:28.400] saying, oh, I'm voting for Trump, you know, like Kodak, Black, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, [23:28.400 --> 23:35.120] you know, those are people who have kind of been Trump supporters. So I'm not necessarily surprised. [23:35.760 --> 23:41.920] But when I put it on, I posted this on National Black Guide today, and everybody was saying, [23:41.920 --> 23:49.120] no, that's a lie. You know, nobody's voting for Trump, blah, blah, blah. So before I give you my [23:49.120 --> 23:55.360] my thoughts on it, I mean, what do you think? Can you believe that, you know, Trump may [23:56.560 --> 24:01.280] reach a record number of black votes for this coming election? [24:02.240 --> 24:12.320] I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. But he, you know, [24:13.280 --> 24:19.120] when you go back, you mentioned Nixon and back during that time, the 32% of the vote. [24:21.680 --> 24:29.120] Excuse me, excuse me. 32% of the vote that he got, it was, it was a different day and time [24:29.120 --> 24:34.560] back then because there were a lot of black Republicans back during the 60s and in the [24:34.560 --> 24:40.400] 70s and so forth. I remember my mother was a Republican back then. And because she was [24:40.400 --> 24:44.880] a Republican, I voted Republican when I first started voting because back then, [24:45.680 --> 24:54.480] the Republicans kind of ran everything back then. Yeah. And they had, you know, [24:55.360 --> 25:03.520] they kind of ran, they kind of held that presidential seat for a while. Fast forward to today. [25:06.560 --> 25:12.960] You know, Trump is, Trump has had a lot of connections to a lot of famous people. [25:14.480 --> 25:24.160] And these hip hop artists that are siding with him, well, basically, you know, he kind of promised [25:24.720 --> 25:29.680] if he gets in the office that he would take care of them on the tax break side, you know, [25:29.680 --> 25:36.960] and that they would make out better with him as the president and getting that tax credit and, [25:36.960 --> 25:44.240] you know, not having to pay the high taxes that, you know, that they would pay otherwise. [25:44.240 --> 25:48.560] And that was one of the things that he was promising them. And that's why a lot of those [25:48.560 --> 25:54.160] people were following him, you know, because even remember Ice Cube was even on board with that. [25:56.320 --> 26:03.440] So that was the reason that they were trying to, and keep in mind, he's a celebrity himself. [26:03.440 --> 26:09.440] And so it would also, well, he wasn't paying any taxes, but it would also help him too, you know. [26:10.400 --> 26:18.640] So he definitely was coming across as being that type of guy for them. [26:19.520 --> 26:25.600] Now, the people that vote for him, though, that are of color, [26:28.480 --> 26:32.800] you have, I wonder if those are people that are coming from certain areas, [26:32.800 --> 26:47.280] like down south, you know, in Mississippi and, you know, Florida, and maybe Alabama and those [26:47.280 --> 26:55.600] kind of states down there. I don't think he would get that kind of support up here in [26:56.560 --> 27:05.680] a lot of the eastern states. You know, I don't think he would get as much minority support in [27:05.680 --> 27:14.000] these areas, because he didn't win these areas before, you know what I mean? So that's the [27:14.000 --> 27:27.280] only thing. But see, you also got to look at it this way too. The political landscape is so bad [27:27.280 --> 27:35.360] right now. I mean, if you look at the choices we have as far as the presidential races are concerned, [27:36.560 --> 27:41.360] who do we really have to choose from? I mean, Democrats, we don't got nobody. [27:41.360 --> 27:50.160] No choice. Yeah, well, you know, that's a whole other story than, you know, the Republicans, [27:50.160 --> 27:56.000] we got him. And that all depends on what states are going to let him run, you know, and so forth. [27:56.000 --> 28:01.760] You know, so, I mean, it's the landscape is really, really bad. You figure they can't find [28:01.760 --> 28:08.960] anybody to step up to be a great candidate for this position. It's really, it's really a shame [28:08.960 --> 28:15.120] that we don't have that at this point. So here we are. We're trying to, [28:17.360 --> 28:24.320] we're trying to figure this out and we got to deal with guys like him and so forth and so forth. And [28:25.120 --> 28:29.760] it's really a mess, man. I know he won't, I can tell you for sure, he won't get my vote. [28:32.160 --> 28:34.560] Yeah, I'm just saying. He won't get my vote. [28:35.200 --> 28:39.600] Yeah. So, you know, the reason why I also agree with the article that he may have the [28:39.600 --> 28:49.120] most amount of black voters is because if Democrats are staying home and they're not [28:49.120 --> 28:54.800] going to be voting, because I have heard a lot of people say, you know, I'm not voting, you know, [28:54.800 --> 28:58.880] I'm not voting for Trump because he's Republican and I'm not voting for Biden because he ain't done [28:58.880 --> 29:06.160] nothing for him. If that's the case, if we have Democrats who are not voting, that increases [29:06.160 --> 29:11.120] the percentage of black voters who are already voting for Trump. You know what I mean? [29:11.680 --> 29:12.160] Yeah. [29:12.160 --> 29:19.360] Oh, I mean, it's kind of like a default where it's like either, you know, you're going to vote [29:19.360 --> 29:27.600] for Biden or you're not going to vote. And by not voting, the percentages of Trump [29:28.320 --> 29:36.400] black supporter goes up automatically. So the question is, and you know, I'm curious your thoughts, [29:37.120 --> 29:40.400] do you think there's going to be a large number of black people [29:41.200 --> 29:43.760] who are not going to cast a vote for president? [29:44.640 --> 29:50.720] I think this election will see the numbers go down as far as black voters are concerned, [29:51.280 --> 29:59.680] as opposed to the last big election. Remember, we came out in record numbers for that last election, [29:59.680 --> 30:05.520] presidential election. People voted, a lot of people, there were a lot of people voted for the first [30:05.520 --> 30:13.440] time, you know, that time, so forth, because they were trying to keep Trump out of office. [30:14.320 --> 30:18.000] I don't think we're going to have that this time. I think a lot of that's going to be a lot of people [30:18.000 --> 30:26.240] who probably just want to say, I don't care, I'm not voting. You know, and then we, those who [30:26.240 --> 30:34.000] are conscious enough to vote and they go and put, they vote for the Democratic side of the ticket, [30:34.880 --> 30:45.520] then they're doing it just as a deterrent to what is the other alternative, which is voting, [30:46.640 --> 30:52.320] you know, for him and the Republicans. If, you know, if he's going to be the actual candidate, [30:54.720 --> 31:00.320] excuse me, the Republican candidate, then people are going to try not, they're going to, they're [31:00.320 --> 31:06.480] going to vote a lot, hopefully a lot of Democrats that vote Democrat to avoid voting for him. [31:09.360 --> 31:14.960] I just think that there's going to be, the thing about the black voters is going to be centralized. [31:15.520 --> 31:24.560] Certain states are going to be heavily influenced by him when it comes to those black voters who [31:24.560 --> 31:30.400] vote for him. But like I said, it all depends on the demographic that those states are in, [31:30.400 --> 31:35.520] because I think that's where we'll make all the difference. So yeah, he could have an uptick as [31:35.520 --> 31:41.120] far as the number of voters. And then, you know, we got a lot of people that probably will switch [31:41.120 --> 31:49.280] sides because they're not happy with Biden, but whether it's going to be enough to get them in [31:49.280 --> 31:56.320] the office, I don't think that's going to happen. Right. Yeah. We shall see. Well, look, [31:56.320 --> 32:00.720] we'll see when he goes to do his little speeches, how many black people are backed up on? [32:03.440 --> 32:09.120] Paid or unpaid? Yeah. Well, there you go. Or C fillers, how many C fillers he has back there, [32:09.120 --> 32:13.840] you know? So, cause we know, we know it's always going to be somebody like right up front, [32:13.840 --> 32:19.760] you know, where they can clearly be seen and they'll be smiling and nodding their head to [32:19.760 --> 32:25.200] everything, you know, that he says, you know, so, but we'll see, we'll see how that goes. So, [32:29.200 --> 32:33.440] you guys are listening to news and trends with Dave and Len. We want to thank you for taking [32:33.440 --> 32:40.480] the time to listen to us. Moving on to our next story. The story of the week, [32:40.480 --> 32:51.040] you know, that just keeps on giving. Just, I don't know if all of you guys have been under a rock or [32:51.040 --> 32:59.120] not, but there was a pretty interesting interview that was just done for those who may not have [32:59.120 --> 33:08.480] heard. Shannon Sharp, pro football, ex pro football player, Hall of Famer, has a podcast called Club [33:08.480 --> 33:14.320] Shake Shack. A lot of people probably didn't know that before this particular interview. So, [33:15.760 --> 33:22.240] but his podcast is actually one of the top podcasts in the country. And he brought on [33:24.240 --> 33:28.560] a certain comedian by the name of Kat Williams, everybody's favorite bad boy. [33:29.760 --> 33:35.520] And Kat Williams man came in and just dropped bombs all over the place. You know, [33:35.840 --> 33:44.160] Kat Williams definitely had an agenda. You know, he came on that show and he just started talking [33:44.160 --> 33:49.840] about everybody. Poor Shannon. I felt so bad for him because Shannon was trying to stop him from [33:49.840 --> 33:55.120] talking about people and Kat would stop a little bit and then just go back in again. [33:55.840 --> 34:02.240] So, this particular part of that's, well, basically what I wanted to talk about was [34:03.120 --> 34:10.480] there was a thing that said, why you mad Shannon Sharp addresses Club Shake Shake [34:11.360 --> 34:16.000] shade after Kat Williams interview, because apparently he got some shade for doing the [34:16.000 --> 34:22.160] interview. I never said I was a journalist is what he said. Let me just give you a little [34:22.160 --> 34:30.800] bit of backdrop. So, while still going viral from a sit down with Kat Williams, Shannon Sharp [34:30.800 --> 34:39.440] addressed critics, wondering why they were really mad when Shannon Sharp departed undisputed, [34:39.440 --> 34:46.960] which he co-host would be a Skip Bayless. We knew his future was bright and certainly hit new heights. [34:48.480 --> 34:55.600] His conversation with Kat Williams on Club Shake Shake went viral and reached as far and wide as [34:56.320 --> 35:03.760] imaginable. It went so viral that nine social media users who usually find out about contents [35:03.760 --> 35:14.400] a week later knew about the podcast, which currently has over 33 million views. Think [35:14.400 --> 35:24.240] about that. 33 million views. And Dave, that's not even counting the replays on social media. [35:24.240 --> 35:29.120] That's not the repost and all of the stuff that's been done. But that was just [35:29.120 --> 35:42.240] people just tuning in just to see the interview. It says that the one downsize to going super viral [35:42.240 --> 35:49.600] is the criticism from those who could never do what you have done. And while some criticism is [35:49.600 --> 35:56.800] warranted, some of it is baseless. Social media haters instantly attack Sharp for not stopping Kat. [35:57.600 --> 36:02.800] While he was continuously slandering their favorite comedians and some were offended [36:04.800 --> 36:11.840] a viral interview happened with a person who is not a real journalist. With that in mind, Shannon [36:11.840 --> 36:21.040] took time during his Nightcat podcast with Chad Osozcinko, a former football player, to address the [36:21.040 --> 36:28.720] chatter. They said Shannon took the criticism with a grain of salt. And this is what he said, [36:29.760 --> 36:35.760] sometimes the only success they get to taste is taking a bite out of views. [36:35.920 --> 36:47.200] Sharp said at the 4711 march, leave him alone. I'm doing what I'm doing. Obviously, 27 million people [36:48.000 --> 36:55.040] thought enough like, oh, he's sitting down with Kat word of mouth. Maybe they saw a snippet or [36:55.040 --> 37:01.920] something. Maybe I need to sit down and watch this. It's two hours and 46 minutes and five [37:01.920 --> 37:10.640] seconds. When was the last time somebody sat down for a non-sporting event, two hours and 46 [37:10.640 --> 37:19.040] minutes and five seconds and watched and listened. Well, I'm going to say this. When I first heard [37:19.040 --> 37:28.080] about it, I said, uh oh, I got to listen. I was on it, man. I was like, I said, because [37:28.080 --> 37:40.080] for any of us who know Kat Williams, Kat Williams has had a very interesting career. He's a funny [37:40.080 --> 37:48.400] guy. He's a character. But we also know that Kat has his idiosyncrasies. And there's been a [37:48.400 --> 37:57.040] lot of craziness around Kat's career as well. He's been blackballed before. You never know what's [37:57.040 --> 38:04.240] going to come out of his mouth sometime. But that particular interview was set up for Kat to do [38:04.240 --> 38:12.800] exactly what he did. And that was to talk nonstop and talk about what he wanted to talk about. [38:13.520 --> 38:19.120] Because if you saw the interview, which you said you saw, you didn't watch the whole thing, [38:19.120 --> 38:24.560] but you saw a lot of it, right? Yeah, I mean, I didn't watch the whole thing. I think I saw [38:24.560 --> 38:34.880] a lot of clips. So I probably saw enough. Shannon, the premise of the show, he sits there [38:34.880 --> 38:40.000] and interviews. Now keep in mind, Shannon's had a lot of famous people on this show. A lot of [38:40.000 --> 38:44.400] comedians have been on there. One of the things that was talked about during the interview, [38:44.400 --> 38:48.080] he's had Ricky Smiley on there recently, Cedric the Entertainer has been on there, [38:48.640 --> 38:55.360] you know, so forth and so forth. Kevin Hartzman on the show. And what he does, they sit there [38:55.360 --> 39:02.320] and they will drink. They were sipping on the Suspensive Cognac at the time. And they'll sit [39:02.320 --> 39:10.080] there and they'll sip and talk or whatever. From the moment the interview started, Kat went in. [39:10.880 --> 39:19.040] Kat was not, and Shannon tried to control, tried to control the interview, right? I mean, [39:19.040 --> 39:24.720] if he asked certain questions, Kat would kind of answer the questions, but then went somewhere else [39:24.720 --> 39:34.000] with some of the stuff. And then, but the one thing about Kat was basically everything he said. [39:34.320 --> 39:43.440] He said he had receipts for, and he could prove, you know, and I don't know if you notice a lot of [39:43.440 --> 39:50.800] the stuff that he's talked about. You've been seeing the receipts for it. And, and how many [39:50.800 --> 39:58.000] people have you seen call, come out and call them a liar? Right. I mean, have you, have you seen [39:58.000 --> 40:04.800] anybody do that? Only, only person that seems to have real offense with him is the person [40:05.360 --> 40:11.360] that he always is arguing with, which is Kevin Hart. Because Kevin Hart was clowning him a little. [40:11.360 --> 40:17.840] Well, I mean, I think everyone who he called out and tried to discredit what he said. [40:19.360 --> 40:26.000] Yeah, but they, but could they discredit what he said? Because there's receipts all over the [40:26.000 --> 40:30.080] place. I mean, you know, he talked about how certain people were still in jokes. He showed, [40:30.080 --> 40:34.800] I mean, when you look up, there's the joke. And it's not that person. You hear the original joke, [40:34.800 --> 40:38.960] and then you hear them tell it afterwards. You know what I mean? Some of the people that he was [40:38.960 --> 40:47.920] talking about. He comes across as being a bit of, you know, cause everybody's talking about, [40:47.920 --> 40:52.000] you know, Kat was on drugs. He was, he was alcoholic. He was doing this. He was doing [40:52.000 --> 40:58.320] that, you know, and that might all be true. It may not be, or may not be all true, but still, [41:00.720 --> 41:06.480] you know, normally when people say things about people, if it's not true, it's just like, [41:06.480 --> 41:13.200] you saw what, you saw what Kevin Hart did when Tasha Kay was Gary, was Gary released [41:13.200 --> 41:18.560] that information about him. The first thing he got, he lowered up and said, we're going to sue her. [41:19.120 --> 41:19.620] Mm-hmm. [41:21.680 --> 41:24.080] I haven't heard him talk about suing Kat Williams. [41:24.720 --> 41:27.120] But you know, I feel like that's a little bit different because, [41:30.800 --> 41:35.760] so I guess it's really about what you can prove. So I think there's a difference. [41:35.760 --> 41:40.240] And so on social media, I follow this lady and she's a lawyer and she was just talking about, [41:41.120 --> 41:48.880] um, and it's funny, dad, I never heard it. She was talking about, can jokes be copyrighted? [41:50.240 --> 41:54.640] You know, like, is it? And, and I mean, to be honest, I read it. I didn't understand it all, [41:54.640 --> 42:05.360] but I mean, but can legally, can you steal somebody's joke and, and retell it? Now, [42:05.360 --> 42:11.520] I mean, it may not be ethical, but legally, can you steal somebody's joke and tell it, [42:11.520 --> 42:17.920] or can you steal somebody's joke, modify it a little bit and then retell it? You know what [42:17.920 --> 42:25.760] I mean? So, um, you, so when you talk about Sue, I'm curious, you know, what they would be able to [42:25.760 --> 42:36.160] sue for. Well, defamation of character, because of course, you know, if any two of the people that [42:36.160 --> 42:42.400] Kat talked about the hardest was Steve Harvey and Kevin Hart and Kevin Hart and Cedric. I put [42:42.400 --> 42:50.000] Cedric in there too. Those were the three people that he went at the hardest. Um, and he taught, [42:50.000 --> 42:53.920] and this funny, you brought up the whole thing about stealing jokes. Cause that's one of the [42:53.920 --> 42:59.600] things that he was talking about with especially Steve Harvey, Harvey and Cedric was how they [42:59.600 --> 43:05.040] stole some of their, some of the most popular jokes that they have told over the years or [43:05.040 --> 43:13.040] jokes that were told by other comedians that they took from them and used for themselves and made [43:13.040 --> 43:18.240] them. Now, of course, you know, you and I talked earlier, we were talking about delivery [43:18.960 --> 43:23.280] of a joke or whatever. One of the funniest jokes I ever heard was the Bernie Mac joke [43:23.280 --> 43:30.640] on the Kings of Cobney with the bus driver and the kids, right? Nobody tells that joke the [43:30.640 --> 43:38.400] way Bernie Mac told that joke, right? But then I find out of course over the weekend [43:40.000 --> 43:45.840] that that wasn't the first time that joke was told. Right. It was told by an unknown kid at [43:45.840 --> 43:52.960] the Apollo and there's a video of it and the kids telling the joke years before Bernie ever [43:52.960 --> 44:01.120] told it and the kids telling the joke and it's the same as that joke. Now he didn't deliver it [44:01.120 --> 44:06.160] the way that Bernie did. Of course, that's what made the joke so funny was the way Bernie delivered [44:06.160 --> 44:12.640] the joke, but it was the same exact joke. And then there was a joke from the Kings of [44:12.640 --> 44:18.480] Comedy that Cedric did that was in, you remember the show Designing Women? [44:19.200 --> 44:20.960] Yeah, I saw that clip. [44:25.360 --> 44:32.800] Yeah, he told the joke in Designing Women and the joke ended up in the Kings of Comedy. [44:33.440 --> 44:40.160] So, you know, now they said, you know, it could be flattery or whatever, but, you know, I always [44:40.160 --> 44:44.160] felt and you and I was talking about this earlier, you know, if you're going to tell somebody else's [44:44.160 --> 44:51.760] joke, it should be preferenced by saying, you know, you know, that I'm getting ready to retell a joke. [44:52.560 --> 44:58.320] One of my favorite jokes and the joke goes this way. Okay. Or, you know, at least say, hey, [44:58.320 --> 45:07.680] this ain't my joke because that stuttering joke by Bernie Mac, the joke that Cedric told that was on [45:07.680 --> 45:14.320] that Meachack Taylor talked about on Designing Women. Those jokes, we always associate with [45:14.320 --> 45:19.520] those particular people. You know, Dave, now, I will say I disagree with that because think, [45:19.520 --> 45:24.480] okay, okay. And, and I understand what you're saying, but, you know, I disagree with that [45:24.480 --> 45:30.160] because one, everybody tells a joke different. So it's like, okay, can I take a piece of that [45:30.160 --> 45:34.800] joke and then make it my own? But what I also thought about when we think about music, [45:35.520 --> 45:44.400] you know how many rappers and singers will say a catch line of another rap that we've heard in [45:44.400 --> 45:50.400] another song. And it's not like, you know, so like they're not credited on song. And I guarantee [45:50.400 --> 45:56.080] even if they take a one line, like Drake, I think Drake is good for taking some one-liners. [45:56.080 --> 46:08.080] Drake is the king of it. And even Nicki Minaj, so quick backstory. We were listening to music [46:08.080 --> 46:14.240] and one of Nicki's song, I think it's Monster, she said, raw, raw, like a dungeon dragon. And I was like, [46:14.240 --> 46:18.400] oh yeah, you know, that's what, that's from the old Tribe Called Quest. And my wife was like, [46:18.400 --> 46:23.520] no, it's not. That's Nicki's. And I'm like, no, that's what Busta Rhymes said. And I had to find [46:23.520 --> 46:29.520] the Tribe Called Quest song. And the Tribe Called Quest song, Busta Rhymes said, raw, raw, like a [46:29.520 --> 46:35.280] dungeon dragon, something, something, my pants are sagging. But, you know, it's almost like, [46:35.280 --> 46:40.320] okay, does that mean Nicki has to credit Busta Rhymes? Because I mean, what, that line was a [46:40.320 --> 46:44.240] specific line. Like, you know, you're like, you're not just going to bring that out of the air. [46:44.240 --> 46:50.880] So it's like, okay, should entertainers credit when they take a line from somebody too? [46:51.280 --> 46:59.200] Well, that's where a lot of the issues that come in over the years as far as music and sampling [46:59.200 --> 47:06.000] and all of that kind of stuff has come through. Because of people, you know, if you use a line [47:06.000 --> 47:10.320] or so and you get away with it, that's one thing. But if you use more than one line [47:10.320 --> 47:16.480] or using bars, it's like I was listening to, I saw something pop up on Instagram yesterday. [47:16.480 --> 47:21.440] And it was this guy he was dancing to, music or theme song, opening theme song. [47:24.080 --> 47:33.840] I'll be around. But he did a mashup of the song with a gospel song by the Clark sisters. And I [47:33.840 --> 47:38.480] will say it was hot. I ain't going to lie, it was hot the way what he did with it. But the fact [47:38.480 --> 47:44.080] that he mixed the two songs together and you'd be like, wow, you know, but then if you're the [47:44.080 --> 47:49.600] artist and you're listening to both artists, CeeLo and the Clark sisters, well, I should say [47:49.600 --> 47:55.360] Tim Allen, CeeLo and Clark sisters, you're saying, well, what did this do with my song? [47:57.920 --> 48:03.600] And that's the thing with these jokes and everything. And to see, you know, [48:03.600 --> 48:09.760] Cass said a lot during this interview. He really did. And it made you think about some things, [48:09.760 --> 48:16.080] it made you look at it kind of makes you look at people differently. Now, of course, [48:16.080 --> 48:20.560] he could have threw some lies in there or whatever the case may be. But like I said, [48:20.560 --> 48:25.600] I haven't really seen anybody come out and say he's a bold face liar or anything. The only person [48:26.960 --> 48:32.960] a lot of people are talking about the people he was talking about. You know, I've seen more [48:32.960 --> 48:47.040] people talking negative about Steve than anything. And Kevin Hart. So that just kind of vindicates [48:47.040 --> 48:53.520] a lot of the stuff that he said. Now Shannon, Shannon's whole thing and this whole thing, [48:53.520 --> 48:58.880] and Shannon, you could tell he was completely caught off guard about a lot of the stuff that [48:58.880 --> 49:03.200] was being said because Shannon was trying to keep the interview, you know, because he's friends [49:03.200 --> 49:09.600] with some of these people. And Shannon's like, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. He said, [49:09.600 --> 49:15.600] wait, I just asked you this or I just asked you that. But Kat just kept going in and in, [49:15.600 --> 49:19.120] you know, then he tried to change the subject, you know, he tried to change the subject a couple [49:19.120 --> 49:25.920] times and then Kat would just come back in firing again, you know. So I just thought it [49:26.000 --> 49:33.840] was very interesting for, I think the reason that Shannon has gotten some shade [49:34.640 --> 49:41.280] is because there's probably real journalists who wanted to do an interview like this but couldn't [49:42.640 --> 49:49.200] because the people wouldn't talk to them. Kat's not going to talk to Barbara Walters or [49:49.840 --> 49:56.640] Tamler Hall or somebody like that because he's worried about how they're going to try to portray [49:56.640 --> 50:02.080] him. Shannon, you know, they're basically sitting in the living room just chilling, [50:02.080 --> 50:07.520] just talking. That's what they were doing and he felt comfortable. He felt that he can [50:09.360 --> 50:16.880] open up and that was the form that he felt most comfortable in doing that, you know, [50:16.880 --> 50:21.840] because you could tell he held that stuff for years. Yeah. Now, on a quick side note, [50:21.840 --> 50:26.720] I will say there was somebody credible who said that everything he said wasn't the truth. [50:27.360 --> 50:34.560] Who said that? Ice Cube. When? Well, I did see Ice Cube. There's a video about Ice Cube [50:34.560 --> 50:46.240] talking about the movie next Friday about Kat and yeah, that the part wasn't necessarily [50:46.240 --> 50:54.800] written for him. All the comedians were asked to try out certain roles. That's what he said [50:54.800 --> 51:02.880] in the thing. And he said, yes, Ricky did want to try out for Money Mike and so forth. But he said, [51:02.880 --> 51:09.680] you know, and he had, so all of them were asked to try out for the roles that were available. [51:09.680 --> 51:15.840] He said that at the end, he just felt that Ricky was better suited for the [51:15.840 --> 51:21.120] Santa Claus and that what you're going with is better suited for Money Mike. [51:25.760 --> 51:30.000] But he didn't say, because you know how Kat was saying, I wrote the part, you know, [51:30.000 --> 51:34.720] I wrote the words and all that stuff. He didn't say all that. He just said that, you know, [51:35.280 --> 51:41.040] he just felt that, you know, he was better suited, that they made the choice. It wasn't his choice, [51:41.200 --> 51:48.800] you know. But I don't know. I'm sure we're going to hear more about this. And I'm sure, [51:50.400 --> 51:57.920] I don't know. Do you think Kat will allow himself to talk to anybody else? Or do you think Kat [51:57.920 --> 52:03.920] was a hit and run guy? You know, he said what he had to say and he bounced, you know, [52:03.920 --> 52:09.520] and he's not going to talk to anybody else now. I mean, I don't know what else he has to say. And [52:09.520 --> 52:13.280] I'm thinking if he has anything else to say, he's probably going to say, you know, his comedy tour. [52:15.920 --> 52:21.440] Well, yeah, because we know he got that coming up. So we know that he has to, [52:23.280 --> 52:28.960] he's got that tour coming up. And they already said that his ticket sales are already up for [52:28.960 --> 52:35.760] the tour and all that stuff. So it could be a stroke of genius. It could be something that's [52:35.760 --> 52:47.040] really making him look like a brilliant guy, you know. So I guess we'll see about that. But I, [52:47.040 --> 52:53.920] you know, just had to bring it up and mention it because that was the hot topic. I mean, you know, [52:53.920 --> 52:59.120] and it's still going, you know. So everybody was waiting to see what Steve was going to say. [52:59.120 --> 53:03.360] Steve didn't address it. And I don't know if he's going to address it. [53:06.080 --> 53:13.920] You know, so I don't know. I guess we'll find out. So all right. Let's move on to our next story. [53:13.920 --> 53:18.960] And I'm sure you guys have a lot to say about that interview. I'm sure we'll hear some feedback [53:18.960 --> 53:29.280] about that. Our next story. Unfortunately, back to the racism stuff again. [53:29.280 --> 53:38.240] IHOP employee fired at the server refused to wait on Black couple. [53:40.560 --> 53:50.320] Oh, IHOP, IHOP, IHOP. And here we are in our down south. A Texas-based IHOP [53:50.880 --> 53:57.600] is probably hiring after a waitress there was accused of refusing to serve a Black couple [53:58.400 --> 54:05.200] of their because of their race leading to her firing and the termination of other staff members. [54:08.160 --> 54:16.160] Keisha Mitchell told CBS News in Texas that he and her boyfriend Elvis Poli [54:17.760 --> 54:26.080] went to Mesquite IHOP franchise after Christmas to celebrate the latter's 49th birthday. [54:26.960 --> 54:34.000] And they are still in disbelief on how they how their visit turned out to be something they'd [54:34.000 --> 54:38.640] never imagined. When we got to the restaurant, we were told that they were not going to be [54:39.280 --> 54:45.120] they were not going to be serviced because of their color. It is a shock and your brain [54:45.120 --> 54:51.840] is not processing what you're hearing. Mitchell recorded and shared a video on social media of her [54:51.840 --> 54:59.280] and Poli's subsequent chat with the location manager who said one of our morning service [55:00.080 --> 55:08.240] she is she's picky. She didn't want to say she was racist. She said she's picky noted Mitchell. [55:08.880 --> 55:14.800] No, that's not being picky if you're selecting only a certain group of people that you want to serve. [55:15.520 --> 55:23.600] The manager informed Mitchell and Poli that the waitress had 25 years of IHOP experience. [55:26.720 --> 55:30.240] 25 years you've been doing this. Yeah, that's right. I want to say it's [55:30.240 --> 55:34.720] 20, 25 years of racism. Yeah, there you go. There you go. Yeah. [55:36.560 --> 55:41.520] Mitchell described it as being very, very traumatic experience. Unless you go through [55:41.520 --> 55:47.360] something similar, she said you never know what kind of thoughts or behaviors you'll have. [55:48.400 --> 55:57.680] In a statement, Ants Draper restaurants told CVS the company has thoroughly investigated the incident [55:57.680 --> 56:06.800] and taken the necessary actions, including firing the workers involved. It said the isolated incident [56:06.800 --> 56:12.160] doesn't reflect the company's continued dedication to its guests and team members. [56:15.280 --> 56:21.120] What do you think about this? Texas, Mesquite. [56:24.560 --> 56:30.720] I was trying not to go there, but some of our biggest racism stories are coming out of that area. [56:31.200 --> 56:38.080] Right. You imagine being in the IHOP and people [56:39.520 --> 56:43.680] being told that you're not being serviced because of the color of your skin. [56:44.320 --> 56:50.720] No, but we talked about all them sundown towns, so I mean, not surprising. [56:51.440 --> 56:55.360] Wow. Brother, can't even get some pancakes, man. [56:56.800 --> 57:04.800] No. Nope. You better do DoorDash or something. Have someone else go on and get them. [57:04.800 --> 57:07.520] Go out to go to the Waffle House? Is that what I'm about to do? [57:08.640 --> 57:16.720] You know, man, this is crazy. We are in 2024. Why are we talking about this stuff? [57:16.800 --> 57:20.000] But why is this happening? [57:26.560 --> 57:32.320] Well, and they remind me, so these people, did they live in that area or they were going through? [57:34.160 --> 57:40.880] I think they were. I think that they're Texans. I don't know. It doesn't say whether they lived in [57:40.880 --> 57:45.760] the area, but they they must not been too far away because they chose that particular place [57:45.840 --> 57:51.120] to celebrate the guy's birthday. Gotcha. And the only reason I say that is, you know, I feel like, [57:52.240 --> 57:57.360] and I mean, you know, we don't live in an area that's well, maybe we do live in an area that's [57:57.360 --> 58:05.840] racist, but I'm sure you hear rumors like, hey, don't go to the IHOP. You know, they don't be [58:05.840 --> 58:10.240] serving black people or don't go to the IHOP. You know, they have black people waiting a long [58:10.240 --> 58:16.000] time or they sit on the other bathroom. So like, I wonder, I wonder if they had like any [58:16.000 --> 58:23.680] premonition of those type of stories or. I don't know. And if that store is that type [58:23.680 --> 58:28.560] of storage in the waitress and the other people that got fired or [58:29.440 --> 58:39.840] are indicative of what the staff is like, then it's probably a good thing that they probably [58:39.840 --> 58:46.800] didn't eat there. You know what I'm saying? You know, so because I'd be look, I'd be a little [58:46.800 --> 58:53.840] worried eating there. Now I'm hoping that story opened the eyes of maybe other people of color [58:53.840 --> 58:59.120] that might have been gone there and experiencing the same thing, or maybe people who were thinking [58:59.120 --> 59:05.920] about going there who won't go there now. Right. You know, so because, you know, we've had, [59:05.920 --> 59:10.880] you know, I've heard stories in the past about Denny's, you know, and Denny's is always, [59:10.880 --> 59:15.760] you know, was one of you because they were always in strange little areas or whatever. [59:15.760 --> 59:19.760] I've heard that about Denny's in the past. I've heard about certain other places. [59:19.760 --> 59:28.000] But you figure IHOP, the name of the place is International House of Pancakes. I mean, [59:28.000 --> 59:36.160] come on down. You would think that you wouldn't have that kind of issue at IHOP, but then [59:37.760 --> 59:44.000] I guess it is depending on where you are. Yeah. And that's that makes all the difference in the [59:44.000 --> 59:51.760] world. So hopefully, you know, if it was that blatant or whatever, I'm sure that they're [59:51.760 --> 59:59.920] probably getting legal help as well. And I'm sure that that company will be because they were quick [59:59.920 --> 01:00:05.200] to get rid of the day. I think they said they got rid of a manager and a couple of the waste staff.

[01:00:05] I'm sure that they did that with a quickness because they know what's probably coming next.

[01:00:11] Yeah, and I'm sure. And I mean, that's probably a good thing because if you go to IHOP and you

[01:00:15] have a waitress or waiter who doesn't give you proper service and you because you're black,

[01:00:22] if you go to the manager and they don't do anything, then I mean, you know, you might

[01:00:27] well think that the whole franchise, I mean, the whole restaurant is in on it.

[01:00:33] Yeah, yeah, that's true. That is true. Yeah. So I just think that it is something that

[01:00:43] is something that hopefully that we don't hear the end of as far as

[01:00:49] because, you know, maybe they got the waste that fired or whatever the case may be.

[01:00:54] But still, you know, your dignity and your feelings and all that stuff, you know,

[01:01:00] the emotional pain and suffering that you go through, that is still real.

[01:01:06] Yeah, and the embarrassment. Yeah, and the embarrassment. So I don't know,

[01:01:12] they need to get Benjamin Crump, you know, or somebody on the case to get them down there,

[01:01:18] you know, but I just saw that I saw that story and I'm still can't believe that we're

[01:01:24] still having these kind of conversations about this kind of stuff. So but

[01:01:30] I guess we'll see if anything else comes up on that particular story. Okay. All right.

[01:01:40] So we're moving into our last segment, which is Len's favorite part of the show.

[01:01:47] Of course.

[01:01:48] Of course. Yeah, I knew you were going to say that, which is Dave's corner.

[01:01:54] And so I figured, you know, in light of

[01:01:59] in light of being able to you started out the show by talking about, you know, you know,

[01:02:07] 2024 beard your year, making a bunch of money and all this kind of stuff.

[01:02:10] So I didn't say that.

[01:02:12] Yeah. Yes. That's what he indicated. So I figured this would be a perfect question for you.

[01:02:18] If you had the money to build your dream house, where would it be first part?

[01:02:28] And what would be the very, the various features of the house?

[01:02:36] You know, what would be the amenities and stuff that you would have that it built to your specs?

[01:02:41] Yep. So if I had my dream house anywhere and, you know, I was trying to bake,

[01:02:48] I think I would want it. And I mean, not to say I would want to live in California,

[01:02:53] but have you seen the houses in California that they're

[01:02:58] almost like high up on the hill and you can see the ocean from like the back of the house?

[01:03:04] Oh, yeah. Like, like Alicia Keys.

[01:03:09] Yeah. I like the Iron Man. Yeah. Yeah. I get it.

[01:03:16] Yeah. So I mean, I would like that type of view as far as the actual house

[01:03:23] definitely has to have a awesome basement. That basement will be like a man caves.

[01:03:28] What would be the basement, man? I'm sure I already know there'd be a theater room down there,

[01:03:34] but what else? No, you know, if I wouldn't be a theorem, but it would be a very large TV.

[01:03:40] I'm probably, well, I mean, you know, maybe like a large couch to go in front of a pool table to

[01:03:47] the side, maybe a bar to the other side. Do you even play pool, man? Yeah, I do.

[01:03:54] Have we talked about this before? No, we have not. Okay.

[01:04:00] I mean, Dave, I'm not no pool shark, but okay. But you do play. Okay.

[01:04:06] I have to take you out one day and see how good you are.

[01:04:09] Well, Dave, like I told you, I'm a natural athlete. So you name the sport.

[01:04:16] Okay.

[01:04:19] If I had a pool table and then I'm probably facing the TV, but on the backside of the couch,

[01:04:25] I probably have my little exercise bike, my treadmill, you know, so I can like exercise

[01:04:31] and watch TV. All that stuff. Do your peloton. Do your peloton.

[01:04:37] Both legs. Yep. I'm a both legs bike. Okay. I definitely want a nice deck or a balcony,

[01:04:45] you know, something that's very nice. Have one of those little wood pizza burning stove and,

[01:04:52] you know, all the outside stuff. Of course, a nice pool. In fact, I would also have an indoor.

[01:04:58] They have something called a, I forget what it's called. It's like an endless pool. And basically

[01:05:05] it's a mini pool that's in ground inside and it has a like a jet to it. So have you seen those?

[01:05:18] Like almost, you know, okay. You're familiar with the wave pool, right?

[01:05:23] Yeah, I know what to do. Okay. So it's almost like a, almost like a little indoor wave pool. And

[01:05:28] what you do is you get in and like, let's say I'm six feet tall. That pool is probably about

[01:05:36] maybe nine feet long and you swim in it, but the waves push you. So it's almost like you're

[01:05:44] really swimming, but you're not really swimming because it's almost like swimming on a treadmill.

[01:05:49] But what's, I know what you're talking about. Yeah. I have one of those.

[01:05:55] Um, of course, you know, in the bathroom, master bathroom, there probably be a nice hot tub,

[01:06:02] nice sauna. Um, and then other than that, the house will be a smart house. So I probably be

[01:06:08] able to control the temperature, music, the shades, you know, a lot of stuff from my cell phone.

[01:06:16] Okay. And I think those are the main features.

[01:06:21] Is there a certain type of style of the house or it would be,

[01:06:25] it would be one of the, it would be like, like the Iron Man house, you know, modern design.

[01:06:30] Yeah. So I mean, it would be very modern. Everything would be well, everything would be white,

[01:06:38] you know, probably like white leather, white, maybe white and silver, like a white silver

[01:06:43] color, very clean, very, um, minimalist. So like not a lot of junk and stuff. Um,

[01:06:51] and then probably my game where I have a lot, I mean, not game in the basement,

[01:06:55] I'd have a lot of nice art, you know, probably lining the walls and all that stuff. So,

[01:07:02] you know, they, you know, they, you know, the little things, you know, I mean, I mean,

[01:07:06] bedrooms, um, doesn't matter. Maybe reasonable three, four, five, 600.

[01:07:17] All right. All right. All right. That'd be a really nice house there, man.

[01:07:25] And where you said California. So I don't necessarily want it in California,

[01:07:29] but I want that kind of like high up on the hill overlooking the ocean view.

[01:07:34] So I think California is probably the only place that you can get that. Um,

[01:07:40] what's above California, Washington? Oh no, but it's probably too cold up there.

[01:07:46] Yeah, you probably wouldn't want to go that way. Um, yeah, California would probably be,

[01:07:54] yeah, probably in the hills of California, you know, depending on what part San Diego or

[01:08:00] San Diego would be, probably be, probably be the best area for something like that. I mean,

[01:08:05] I mean, you know, Los Angeles, but then you got to deal. Look, of course you work from home,

[01:08:11] so it wouldn't, I guess that would be big of a deal for you. You know, you'd have to go out

[01:08:16] the house every day. So, yeah. All right. Okay. Um, I know with me, I think I would put my house

[01:08:30] probably, man, I love Corso so much, man. That area is my spot. If I was to build it,

[01:08:46] and I was retired, I'd probably go to Corso and put the house, you know what I mean,

[01:08:50] and live there. The weather is beautiful. Um, so many different, um, people and races there,

[01:08:59] you know, I mean, you know, um, it's very, very eclectic when it comes to that.

[01:09:06] Um, the house would probably,

[01:09:12] it'd be a modern design, a lot of glass, you know, that type of thing. Um, um, I, I guess I can, I can,

[01:09:21] I can concur with you with being, being able to see water, you know, that type of thing, you know,

[01:09:28] like an ocean view, you know, I want to high up. There hasn't been a hill, but I want to

[01:09:34] high up, you know what I mean? Um, maybe five, six bedrooms, you know, four and a half beds,

[01:09:43] but I like, like, there's one particular room that I would like to have, like the bathroom would

[01:09:50] have to be, it would be huge and it would have a jacuzzi in it. It would have

[01:09:56] like the shower with all the different shower hits, you know, and you do the water hitting you

[01:10:01] from all over, you know, right? Like, oh, okay. George. Yes.

[01:10:06] Yeah. That type of thing. Um, it would definitely have to be a smart house. Yeah. It definitely

[01:10:12] would have to be because, you know, where you can control everything by your phone or by your voice,

[01:10:18] you know, um, I want the, uh, the windows to have the long panel blinds that open up, you know,

[01:10:27] from the middle and open up wide, that type of thing. Um, um, nice eyes, garage, you know,

[01:10:37] I could park park my vehicles. I got to have the, the, the circle driveway, you know,

[01:10:45] you gotta have that out front and would have to be like, I would want it to be like

[01:10:51] silver with trimmed in black. So that is stand out and all the cars would be black and white,

[01:10:57] you know, that would be sitting out front, you know, um, um,

[01:11:05] um, I gotta have the, the, the, you know, the, the man cave. Um,

[01:11:13] it doesn't, I want everything to be on one floor though. I don't, I don't want to,

[01:11:17] I don't want to do it. So I'm going to have a room that's dedicated to that. You know,

[01:11:23] pool table, big screen TV, um, stereo seating, um, the, the best music sound system that you can

[01:11:34] have where you, you got that, that, that, that $20,000, $30,000 system going through there

[01:11:41] where you can hear every instrument and every sound, you know, that type of thing. I want the

[01:11:46] best system in there. Um, probably had some old school games in there, Super Mario and all

[01:11:53] that kind of stuff. You know, the, the Pac-Man games and all that stuff lined up against the wall

[01:11:59] for the kids. I mean, that was, you know, that's basically a lot like you. I want that,

[01:12:06] I want that, um, whole area to have the different levels of water that kind of spill into each

[01:12:14] other. Gotcha. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah. Um, man, if I, and, and I like,

[01:12:27] I would draw it out and I would want everything built exactly the way I draw, drew it, you know,

[01:12:34] I want a kitchen, a big kitchen that just has all the amenities and everything.

[01:12:39] I probably went to silver appliances in there, you know, you know, what a real refrigerator.

[01:12:45] Cause you know, refrigerators nowadays are not worth anything nowadays, you know what I'm saying?

[01:12:50] But I want one of them big refrigerators with the double doors, silver ones, you know, you know,

[01:12:55] so, but that's what I would do. Yeah. Um, because I see a lot of these celebrities and they

[01:13:03] get these big houses, but don't look like they thought out much of what they want to do with

[01:13:09] the houses. I mean, there's just a lot of house. Yeah. You know, well, you, you know, I think

[01:13:17] they get all these houses, but you almost need to have someone come decorate it for your,

[01:13:22] otherwise every, every room is going to look different and, you know, you're going to be

[01:13:27] missing art on the wall and all that stuff. But you know, in the movies though,

[01:13:32] when they show these reels, like these houses, like what you and I are talking about,

[01:13:37] they'd be late too, man. I'll be like, oh yeah, that house man. I'll be like,

[01:13:42] but you never say, but, but then when you see celebrities and you see their homes,

[01:13:47] they always buy these Victorian homes or, you know, these, you know, the mansions

[01:13:51] don't look like what you see in there. I want something that looks futuristic.

[01:13:55] That's what I want. You know, so well, you know, so all we got to do is get a couple million dollars.

[01:14:08] Well, I don't know. We need more than a couple of million because they're going to do it.

[01:14:11] Yeah. In fact, a couple of million ain't going to do nothing.

[01:14:14] All he's going to do is get you a room or two. That's all. Right.

[01:14:18] But you guys give us your thoughts on what you, what you would do in that case.

[01:14:24] What your house would be and what it would look like, you know, because I'm sure everybody has

[01:14:30] their own opinion as to what they would do if they had the money in order to build a house

[01:14:34] the way they need, they want it to be. So all right. So that is our show for tonight.

[01:14:44] We want to thank everybody for taking the time to tune into us and listen to News and Trends

[01:14:52] with Dave and Len. You got anything you want to add before we start off, sir?

[01:14:58] Now, just, you know, again, I want to wish everybody a Happy New Year day. One thing I

[01:15:01] heard and I do believe it. If you have goals that you're looking to make come true,

[01:15:06] write them down and put them up somewhere where you can see them every day. Seeing is believing.

[01:15:12] Oh, okay. Look at the guy throwing some prophetic wisdom out there, you know.

[01:15:21] I'm going to try and get my Steve Harvey 955 a.m., you know, his final.

[01:15:28] Steve, do you have any final thoughts?

[01:15:30] Yeah, the Steve goes into his little sequel to quality there as far as. But yeah, I will say

[01:15:45] I will follow up on that. Yes, if you if you have goals, you know,

[01:15:52] sometimes it's impossible to to kind of accomplish them all at the same time.

[01:15:58] And that would be nice if we can do that. But sometimes you just got to accomplish,

[01:16:02] you know, this a piece of this and a piece of that and a piece of that you try to get as much

[01:16:07] done as you can. It may take you into the following year or whatever the case may be.

[01:16:12] But this every time you you feel like you you you made strides into some of your goals,

[01:16:20] just check it off. Okay. All right. Got this one. Still working on this one.

[01:16:26] Moving on to the next one, that type of thing, you know, so.

[01:16:30] So, but, you know, hopefully, this time next year, when we talk again,

[01:16:37] a lot of you guys and a lot of me and Lynn, hopefully we have accomplished some of the

[01:16:42] goals that we have set for for this year. So all right, guys, that's the show.

[01:16:48] That's the show. We want to thank you, and we will talk to you soon. Have a good night.

[01:16:57] Talk to you later.
