00:01:01 --> 00:01:04 But anyway but hanging out with my partner mr leonard
00:01:04 --> 00:01:07 young what's going on sir dave everything is good
00:01:07 --> 00:01:11 just another week trying to make it in this crazy world
00:01:11 --> 00:01:14 like a squirrel trying to get a nut you know i mean a lot
00:01:14 --> 00:01:18 going on man yes it is well everybody
00:01:18 --> 00:01:21 knows we just got through the holidays and man
00:01:21 --> 00:01:24 the holidays came in with a bang well the
00:01:24 --> 00:01:28 new year i should say came in with a bang starting with we didn't we didn't
00:01:28 --> 00:01:32 touch on it last week but you know what happened in new ireland you know at
00:01:32 --> 00:01:36 the well that was the first day of the year right yeah that happened yeah yeah
00:01:36 --> 00:01:42 and then there was a shooting shooting out in california as well.
00:01:43 --> 00:01:46 And now we got the fires going on out there
00:01:46 --> 00:01:50 yeah they're crazy and you
00:01:50 --> 00:01:53 know you know the the president i still was
00:01:53 --> 00:01:56 the the new president elect i'm still hearing him
00:01:56 --> 00:02:01 saying crazy stuff about global warming one day last week and so forth and so
00:02:01 --> 00:02:06 forth and then you look at everything that's going on right now i mean you know
00:02:06 --> 00:02:10 of course the fires didn't start by global warming as they said that you know
00:02:10 --> 00:02:14 there was somebody that started them but even still because of the elements,
00:02:14 --> 00:02:20 right you know they had they're having trouble containing them but then.
00:02:21 --> 00:02:24 There's snow in Atlanta there's snow
00:02:24 --> 00:02:27 in Texas you know people did
00:02:27 --> 00:02:31 you see the people partying in the snow down in Atlanta no
00:02:31 --> 00:02:34 no I didn't yeah I had to send you that that was so
00:02:34 --> 00:02:37 funny there's a clip oh yes yes yes yes
00:02:37 --> 00:02:41 I did yeah yeah
00:02:41 --> 00:02:44 they're out there partying and everything man you know it
00:02:44 --> 00:02:47 just tells you that we're in a different day
00:02:47 --> 00:02:50 and time there was this other video
00:02:50 --> 00:02:53 where this guy was in south carolina i think he he
00:02:53 --> 00:02:57 was in south carolina or north carolina one of them carolinas and
00:02:57 --> 00:03:00 it was snowing there he said i moved away from
00:03:00 --> 00:03:04 philadelphia to get away you know so and
00:03:04 --> 00:03:07 he's standing in you can see the snow coming down he's standing
00:03:07 --> 00:03:10 right you know so you know so it
00:03:10 --> 00:03:13 just tells you man we're we're you know
00:03:13 --> 00:03:16 they can say what they want to say about the weather and that
00:03:16 --> 00:03:19 is coincidental that these things are
00:03:19 --> 00:03:23 happening but yeah they.
00:03:23 --> 00:03:26 Can try to deny that there's some global warming
00:03:26 --> 00:03:28 going on or it's not
00:03:28 --> 00:03:31 going on but it definitely is there's some there's some
00:03:31 --> 00:03:34 things wrong here definitely the the
00:03:34 --> 00:03:41 what is the the ecosystem is definitely off balance oh yeah it is and and and
00:03:41 --> 00:03:49 wait till uh what january 20th when trump and musk get into office yeah the
00:03:49 --> 00:03:53 the balance is gonna get slipped on his head dave can i ask you a question.
00:03:54 --> 00:04:00 Do you see if you know the answer to this why are they having that particular.
00:04:02 --> 00:04:07 Inauguration on january 20th you know what day that is you know what day that
00:04:07 --> 00:04:13 is they of course i do of course why are they doing that particular one on that day.
00:04:14 --> 00:04:17 So, you know, I think it's funny because, and I mean,
00:04:17 --> 00:04:25 I will say, I think it just happens to fall on that day because I feel like
00:04:25 --> 00:04:29 the inauguration is always that third Monday of January.
00:04:30 --> 00:04:34 Okay. I didn't know it was always the third.
00:04:34 --> 00:04:37 I thought it was, I didn't know that was a set day for it.
00:04:37 --> 00:04:43 Yeah, because you know how like the primary is always the first Tuesday and
00:04:43 --> 00:04:47 no, the second Tuesday in September, the general election is always the first
00:04:47 --> 00:04:50 Tuesday in November and November.
00:04:50 --> 00:04:53 I'm sorry, I'm going to say September for the primary if I didn't.
00:04:53 --> 00:04:58 And I believe inauguration is always the third Monday because,
00:04:58 --> 00:05:01 Dave, you know, inauguration has always been on a Monday.
00:05:01 --> 00:05:05 But you know it is funny because well let
00:05:05 --> 00:05:09 me ask this has it fallen on martin
00:05:09 --> 00:05:13 luther king day and we never noticed because we were not this appalled by what's
00:05:13 --> 00:05:19 happening or has it just not fallen on a martin luther king day in years that's
00:05:19 --> 00:05:25 interesting it probably has but i think and that was one of the reasons i said
00:05:25 --> 00:05:28 what i said yeah why this particular one on that.
00:05:33 --> 00:05:35 Because you're talking about opposite ends of the
00:05:35 --> 00:05:38 spectrum you know you know
00:05:38 --> 00:05:42 it just does not seem right but hey if
00:05:42 --> 00:05:46 that's a set day for them to do it excuse me
00:05:46 --> 00:05:48 if that's the if that's the set day for them to do it i
00:05:48 --> 00:05:51 don't know i don't know what to say about that but
00:05:51 --> 00:05:54 it's just interesting because you know
00:05:54 --> 00:05:57 there's been a couple of our black leaders that said
00:05:57 --> 00:06:00 that they were not planning to attend the inauguration because
00:06:00 --> 00:06:03 of that day yeah i just
00:06:03 --> 00:06:06 read that michelle obama said that she wasn't going but yeah
00:06:06 --> 00:06:09 that is true well they one one thing
00:06:09 --> 00:06:13 that i can probably say is true for a lot of people and
00:06:13 --> 00:06:16 and correct me if i'm wrong the people who
00:06:16 --> 00:06:19 are going to the inauguration don't care
00:06:19 --> 00:06:22 about martin luther king and the people who
00:06:22 --> 00:06:25 care about martin luther king don't care about
00:06:25 --> 00:06:28 the inauguration I mean Martin Luther King day they don't care about the inauguration
00:06:28 --> 00:06:33 yeah more likely they'll probably be doing something that has to do with him
00:06:33 --> 00:06:43 you know so yeah so I tell you we're really crazy day in time man we really are the.
00:06:44 --> 00:06:51 Other than that, you been okay? Yeah, you know, Dave, I kind of like I said, it's another Tuesday.
00:06:51 --> 00:06:54 I'm alive. No, we're here.
00:06:55 --> 00:06:58 Okay, we're here. Okay. That's all that matters.
00:06:59 --> 00:07:04 I mean, so far, and man, we're already 14 days into 2025 already.
00:07:05 --> 00:07:08 You know, time's going to go fast again, man.
00:07:08 --> 00:07:11 So what can you say? So, all right.
00:07:11 --> 00:07:16 Well, I guess we got a few stories for everybody that we need to talk about.
00:07:17 --> 00:07:24 So, you know, I'm pretty sure that we'll have some things together for you guys
00:07:24 --> 00:07:27 that make you go, hmm, okay.
00:07:30 --> 00:07:35 I don't know unless you've been under a rock for late in the last couple days for you guys that are,
00:07:36 --> 00:07:38 news conscience people you might have
00:07:38 --> 00:07:45 come across a story that's going to be our lead story lead off story here and
00:07:45 --> 00:07:50 i'm trying to think because i want you to play i want you to bring up the clip
00:07:50 --> 00:07:58 letter and i'm going to read from the story or should we do the clip first i wonder,
00:07:58 --> 00:08:03 i think we should do the clip first yeah let's do the clip first so,
00:08:05 --> 00:08:09 let me know when you have a cue though i want you to i want you guys to hear
00:08:09 --> 00:08:17 the clip and then we'll talk about the story all right i might wait if youtube pops up there.
00:08:21 --> 00:08:26 Right now, for anybody listening, there's a pastor who is giving the mic to
00:08:26 --> 00:08:29 a young lady. Stand right in front of the congregation.
00:08:29 --> 00:08:34 Stand right in front of you. Don't touch that table. I want to apologize to
00:08:34 --> 00:08:36 everybody in here because I am pregnant.
00:08:38 --> 00:08:41 Even more of an illness over. I'm sorry, y'all.
00:08:42 --> 00:08:48 And I just hope that y'all all forgive me and don't pray for me. Thank you.
00:09:04 --> 00:09:08 Was there more than one or was it just the one it was just one did it cut off,
00:09:09 --> 00:09:15 no I wanted to let it play a little bit more I assume she you repent,
00:09:16 --> 00:09:19 then you never wait later to repent,
00:09:20 --> 00:09:25 if you sin you don't wait no two three you don't wait till the baby come to
00:09:25 --> 00:09:32 repent you repent now you just don't do it again but you got to repent okay
00:09:32 --> 00:09:38 how you look at it you already know the harvest you already know what time it is I told him,
00:09:40 --> 00:09:43 It's not what you think it is, but the church is praying for you.
00:09:44 --> 00:09:46 We ain't going to condone your sin now.
00:09:47 --> 00:09:51 We ain't going to do that. Ain't no baby showers going on.
00:09:52 --> 00:09:55 That's what you lose out there. You have a baby out of wedlock,
00:09:55 --> 00:10:00 ain't no baby showers. And nobody's just tricked by the 10 one.
00:10:02 --> 00:10:07 Mama shouldn't have one neither. You got to take care of your granddaughter. You can't condone sin.
00:10:08 --> 00:10:11 You don't have no private baby shower. can't have no baby shot you lose all
00:10:11 --> 00:10:16 the prize and glory you lose all that you just lose all that thank God that
00:10:16 --> 00:10:19 God didn't take you out of here I'm not,
00:10:20 --> 00:10:24 I'm not going to be for y'all I keep saying that I'm just talking,
00:10:26 --> 00:10:29 Bishop you going to church it's on plan.
00:10:31 --> 00:10:33 You going to church.
00:10:35 --> 00:10:42 Okay so what you guys just heard was young lady who was told to come up and
00:10:42 --> 00:10:47 speak in front of the congregation and apologized to the congregation because
00:10:47 --> 00:10:50 she got pregnant out of wedlock.
00:10:50 --> 00:10:54 She's a young person. It looked like she might have been a teenager or maybe,
00:10:56 --> 00:10:58 she had to be. She had to be a teenager.
00:10:58 --> 00:11:00 I don't think she was 20 years old.
00:11:01 --> 00:11:03 They didn't say how old she was.
00:11:05 --> 00:11:08 But she gets up there. She apologizes and,
00:11:10 --> 00:11:16 You know, she was very emotional. And the congregation, you know,
00:11:16 --> 00:11:19 they applauded her for getting up there and speaking.
00:11:20 --> 00:11:27 You know, he kind of made her feel other than right in the very beginning.
00:11:27 --> 00:11:31 I don't know if you heard when he was near the table, the communion table up
00:11:31 --> 00:11:34 there. And he said, don't touch that table.
00:11:36 --> 00:11:41 You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's basically what he was making a reference to.
00:11:42 --> 00:11:47 You know, being a person that, you know, I go to church on a regular,
00:11:47 --> 00:11:51 you know, all the time. And, you know, I've been brought up in church and whatever.
00:11:51 --> 00:11:57 And actually, I did go to a church where, you know, stuff like this would happen.
00:11:58 --> 00:12:02 Not to that extreme where they would make you get up in front of the church
00:12:02 --> 00:12:07 and denounce your sins or whatever the case might be.
00:12:07 --> 00:12:11 But if you were in some type of organization in the church or whatever,
00:12:12 --> 00:12:20 you would be censored from that organization because if you were pregnant and didn't have a husband,
00:12:20 --> 00:12:25 you know, or if you, well, they would only do it to the women.
00:12:26 --> 00:12:33 You know, the men, for some reason, can father all the children they want and not get called out.
00:12:34 --> 00:12:39 And there's been stories that I've seen about that church. And there's a lot
00:12:39 --> 00:12:41 of that going on in that church.
00:12:41 --> 00:12:45 In fact, Dave, where is that church based out of? It's in Hampton, Virginia.
00:12:46 --> 00:12:49 Oh, is it really? Oh, wow. Yeah, down there in your people's church. Yeah.
00:12:51 --> 00:12:57 Yeah. It's called Vine Apostolic Church in Hampton, Virginia.
00:12:57 --> 00:12:59 Oh, okay. I did not know that.
00:13:00 --> 00:13:05 Yep. The pastor's name is Reverend Terry Jackson. Now, let me say something
00:13:05 --> 00:13:06 about Reverend Terry Jackson.
00:13:08 --> 00:13:15 I have been seeing Reverend Terry Jackson on social media, TikTok,
00:13:15 --> 00:13:19 and also on Instagram for a while now, for a couple of years now.
00:13:20 --> 00:13:28 His church videos will always pop up because I will say, he'd be getting it in at his church, man.
00:13:28 --> 00:13:37 And I mean, you know, they do a very spirited song worship service and he dances
00:13:37 --> 00:13:39 and he's singing, he's playing the piano.
00:13:40 --> 00:13:43 This guy, you know, very talented and very spirited.
00:13:43 --> 00:13:47 And, you know, the comments are always, you know, anytime you,
00:13:47 --> 00:13:49 I told you, I'm going to go to the comments, man.
00:13:49 --> 00:13:54 You know, you can't go, you can't go to TikTok and Instagram and not go to the
00:13:54 --> 00:13:58 comments. If you don't read the comments, you're not really paying attention
00:13:58 --> 00:14:00 to everything that's going on with the clips and so forth.
00:14:01 --> 00:14:06 So the comments are always on fire when this guy is doing this thing.
00:14:06 --> 00:14:10 If you get a chance, take a look at some of his clips and you'll see what I'm
00:14:10 --> 00:14:13 talking about because they be partied. I ain't going to lie. They do.
00:14:15 --> 00:14:18 But, you know, and, you know, you always see a lot of people say,
00:14:18 --> 00:14:21 oh, I want to be where's this church at? I want to go to that church.
00:14:21 --> 00:14:24 You know, I want to go check it out or whatever. And anytime you see any of
00:14:24 --> 00:14:26 his clips, that's what people would say.
00:14:27 --> 00:14:30 But he's not a younger, you know, he's an older pastor. He's probably,
00:14:30 --> 00:14:36 you know, somebody who has those old values because to do what he did and to
00:14:36 --> 00:14:40 say some of the stuff that he said, that's old school. That's real old school.
00:14:41 --> 00:14:47 So, you know, to say the stuff that he said, you know, even to the baby shower
00:14:47 --> 00:14:52 with, you know, yeah, he can't have no baby shower.
00:14:52 --> 00:14:56 Don't nobody throw one for her don't you even your mom you know your mom better
00:14:56 --> 00:15:02 not throw one for you that type of thing you know it's crazy when i saw this
00:15:02 --> 00:15:07 i was just like oh not my man i said that's what i do this no he didn't just
00:15:07 --> 00:15:11 do that you imagine being that young lady though,
00:15:12 --> 00:15:19 and and here again this tells you about the double standard and i know women sure i'm going to hear,
00:15:20 --> 00:15:23 women chime in about this the double standard is why
00:15:23 --> 00:15:28 was she up there by herself where's the guy that got her pregnant well we already
00:15:28 --> 00:15:35 know he don't go to church he's not at church well he may be the pastor's son
00:15:35 --> 00:15:40 you never know but he you never find out because that person's never exposed,
00:15:40 --> 00:15:46 unless those two are together and people see them together but that person's
00:15:46 --> 00:15:50 never exposed you would never see that kid that male kid put up in front of
00:15:50 --> 00:15:56 the church and said and it's made to say what she said right you know so.
00:15:57 --> 00:16:03 What's so crazy is that there's the mother, the mother's name is Dee Miles,
00:16:03 --> 00:16:05 the young lady's mother.
00:16:05 --> 00:16:10 And she responded to people's posts online.
00:16:11 --> 00:16:18 And she wrote that she stands by what she's been taught and is raising her daughter to do the same.
00:16:19 --> 00:16:24 We were not forced or manipulated to stand before the congregation, she wrote.
00:16:24 --> 00:16:30 My daughter willingly approached the congregation and was welcome and embraced with open arms.
00:16:31 --> 00:16:34 Did that look that way to you it did
00:16:34 --> 00:16:41 so i was thinking that she may have come on her own you know i mean depending
00:16:41 --> 00:16:46 on the type of person she is she may have wanted to just express you know or
00:16:46 --> 00:16:51 request forgiveness because you know i think a lot of times depending on the
00:16:51 --> 00:16:53 church to congregation, the community.
00:16:54 --> 00:16:58 A lot of people may have seen her as a bright hope, somebody to kind of make
00:16:58 --> 00:17:00 it out and do great things.
00:17:00 --> 00:17:03 So she may have had a lot of pride in herself. And, you know,
00:17:04 --> 00:17:05 she may have felt like she lets people down.
00:17:06 --> 00:17:08 So I can definitely understand that point of view.
00:17:09 --> 00:17:12 And I feel like what she said was kind of short and to the point.
00:17:13 --> 00:17:17 But what the pastor said, you know
00:17:17 --> 00:17:19 i i can't agree with that i felt like he just kind of
00:17:19 --> 00:17:22 belittled her to be honest i feel like
00:17:22 --> 00:17:25 he humiliated her um but yeah
00:17:25 --> 00:17:28 yeah i i definitely think
00:17:28 --> 00:17:35 what he said took it too far now dave if we're 50 years ago 100 years ago i
00:17:35 --> 00:17:40 can kind of understand but you know we know nowadays a girl getting pregnant
00:17:40 --> 00:17:46 in high school a girl getting pregnant and at the beginning of college is not a death sentence.
00:17:47 --> 00:17:50 You know what I mean? Like there's plenty of success stories and.
00:17:52 --> 00:17:57 If he and Dave, well, you said you follow him, but if he was a true Christian,
00:17:57 --> 00:18:03 you would think he would wrap his figuratively arms around her and help her
00:18:03 --> 00:18:04 give her all the support she needed.
00:18:05 --> 00:18:09 You would think. Yeah. You would think that. And especially since he's a man of God.
00:18:10 --> 00:18:13 Right. Because, you know, you're not supposed to judge people like that.
00:18:13 --> 00:18:20 You know, you know, anybody that's a that's ever read the Bible or a scholar.
00:18:21 --> 00:18:28 Knows that one of the closest people to Jesus Christ was Mary Magdalene who was a former prostitute,
00:18:29 --> 00:18:40 and he never judged her and he just told her to come and follow me and she did you know so,
00:18:41 --> 00:18:46 and all he said to her was sin no more and that's all he said to her.
00:18:47 --> 00:18:50 So when man has their hand
00:18:50 --> 00:18:53 in it you know like i said i went to a church
00:18:53 --> 00:18:56 where you know people were censored you know
00:18:56 --> 00:18:59 if you you know especially if
00:18:59 --> 00:19:02 you got pregnant out of wedlock but they
00:19:02 --> 00:19:05 didn't like i said it wasn't done in front of the church you know
00:19:05 --> 00:19:08 you were you know you might have been on the choir
00:19:08 --> 00:19:11 you might have been doing this or you might have been doing that and
00:19:11 --> 00:19:15 all of a sudden you wasn't doing it anymore then people
00:19:15 --> 00:19:18 knew something happened but they didn't know necessarily what happened
00:19:18 --> 00:19:23 because it wasn't publicized you know so you
00:19:23 --> 00:19:26 know i just feel bad for that young lady because even though
00:19:26 --> 00:19:29 and i'll be honest with you when i looked
00:19:29 --> 00:19:32 at it it didn't look like she willingly went up there it looked like she was
00:19:32 --> 00:19:37 told to go up there in the middle and and and that she had no choice in the
00:19:37 --> 00:19:43 matter and you know those apostolic
00:19:43 --> 00:19:46 churches and i'm not being negative or anything here when I say this.
00:19:47 --> 00:19:56 They are a very, very religious church, but they do have a lot of old school.
00:19:58 --> 00:20:03 A lot of old school ways of thinking when it comes to that, you know,
00:20:03 --> 00:20:04 it's that fire and brimstone,
00:20:04 --> 00:20:09 you know, way of thinking, you know, and, you know, so to see something like
00:20:09 --> 00:20:15 this really is not a big surprise when it comes to that type of faith and that type of religion.
00:20:15 --> 00:20:20 But I was just so sad to see it was, it was that particular church,
00:20:20 --> 00:20:25 you know, and a lot of people, because, you know, there was a Black Lives Matter
00:20:25 --> 00:20:27 group that showed up there.
00:20:27 --> 00:20:31 And there was a video of that as well i should have i should have said that
00:20:31 --> 00:20:35 to youtube but there was a video of that as well and so you see the people going
00:20:35 --> 00:20:38 into the church no service going on.
00:20:39 --> 00:20:42 And so they see you can see
00:20:42 --> 00:20:45 that uh congregation sees them come in and
00:20:45 --> 00:20:48 they're filming as they come in and they
00:20:48 --> 00:20:51 go to talk to the pastor and the pastor is like you
00:20:51 --> 00:20:54 know he's asking you know they're asking about you
00:20:54 --> 00:20:57 know what what is he teaching why is he
00:20:57 --> 00:20:59 doing you know stuff like that to a young lady and
00:20:59 --> 00:21:02 so forth and so forth and asking a bunch of questions which
00:21:02 --> 00:21:07 the pastor didn't give him any answer you know he wasn't you know he was like
00:21:07 --> 00:21:13 you know you know that's enough you know you guys can leave you know so forth
00:21:13 --> 00:21:17 and you see a couple people come around so i guess a couple of his deacons and
00:21:17 --> 00:21:22 elders come around and the guy's like don't touch me don't touch me that's
00:21:22 --> 00:21:25 gonna be a problem if you touch me just you know i'm just here
00:21:25 --> 00:21:28 to ask some questions because that was just totally disrespectful
00:21:28 --> 00:21:34 and who gives you the right to to be a judge like that you know and so forth
00:21:34 --> 00:21:38 and so forth so yeah you know there were some people very upset about it down
00:21:38 --> 00:21:42 here yeah but they you know i was just thinking too i think you know a lot of
00:21:42 --> 00:21:46 times the internet will do its thing i wouldn't be surprised if there are some
00:21:46 --> 00:21:48 people digging up dirt on the pastor,
00:21:49 --> 00:21:54 in order to put it out so he could himself repent in front of,
00:21:54 --> 00:21:59 because, you know, not saying this pastor, but we've done many stories on pastors getting.
00:22:01 --> 00:22:04 Wrapped up in stuff that they should have left alone. Yeah, yeah.
00:22:05 --> 00:22:10 Well, they said there's some stuff going, there's some stuff that has happened,
00:22:10 --> 00:22:14 and they said the pastor has been involved in, but of course, you know,
00:22:14 --> 00:22:17 right now everybody's being a little tight-lipped right down down there
00:22:17 --> 00:22:20 because it's got the long kind
00:22:20 --> 00:22:24 of press on it you know yeah you know because like i said you know when you
00:22:24 --> 00:22:28 when you go to tiktok and so forth this guy with videos will pop up and i'm
00:22:28 --> 00:22:31 telling you man they'd be having church and everybody be saying oh man i want
00:22:31 --> 00:22:35 to go to this church or whatever you know but now i wonder how what's going
00:22:35 --> 00:22:37 to happen with all the press.
00:22:39 --> 00:22:42 His congregation you know whether they're going to stay or
00:22:42 --> 00:22:45 whether they're going to go right and what's going to happen with him
00:22:45 --> 00:22:49 because he's not a young man no and so
00:22:49 --> 00:22:51 he you know whether he's going to end
00:22:51 --> 00:22:54 up stepping down and realizing what he's
00:22:54 --> 00:22:58 done or whatever the case might be but it's
00:22:58 --> 00:23:00 a story that everybody needs to you know
00:23:00 --> 00:23:04 check out and keep an eye on because you
00:23:04 --> 00:23:08 know i'm sure we haven't heard the last of it it's really
00:23:08 --> 00:23:11 it's really a shame you know
00:23:11 --> 00:23:13 to see something like that still going on in the
00:23:13 --> 00:23:23 21st century you know yeah agreed yeah yeah all right moving on to our next
00:23:23 --> 00:23:28 story yep dave so this was an interesting story that i saw about the day and
00:23:28 --> 00:23:31 the title of the story is man,
00:23:32 --> 00:23:35 black man from Ohio fights to keep street.
00:23:35 --> 00:23:38 He bought at auction for $5.
00:23:39 --> 00:23:43 So David, the backstory is there's a gentleman in Butler County,
00:23:44 --> 00:23:47 Ohio. His name is Jason Fontelroy.
00:23:48 --> 00:23:54 And he went to the auction in order to purchase a lot or a plot,
00:23:54 --> 00:23:55 not, well, I'm sorry, not apply.
00:23:55 --> 00:24:00 He went to purchase a lot so that he could build a future home there.
00:24:01 --> 00:24:08 Now, what he found out afterwards is that he didn't just buy the lot.
00:24:08 --> 00:24:14 He bought the lot and the street for some reason. I guess it was some type of
00:24:14 --> 00:24:19 error and it all came together in his parcel.
00:24:19 --> 00:24:24 So the street that he owned was, it was a small street that kind of went into
00:24:24 --> 00:24:30 like a little cul-de-sac, but there were about three to five houses on that street.
00:24:30 --> 00:24:34 So he kind of owns the street that those houses are on.
00:24:34 --> 00:24:39 Now he doesn't own those houses, that land or those parcels,
00:24:39 --> 00:24:43 anything like that, but he does own the street and his plot of land.
00:24:44 --> 00:24:51 So once the city realized what they did or realize what happened,
00:24:51 --> 00:24:57 they have been trying to get the property back. They've been trying to get the street back.
00:24:57 --> 00:25:02 But of course, in order to buy the street, they have to buy the lot too.
00:25:02 --> 00:25:12 So they have been unfairly offering him compensation for the lot. So to give an example.
00:25:14 --> 00:25:20 So he owns the lot and the street. They're only trying to give him the value of the lot.
00:25:21 --> 00:25:25 They're not trying to give him the value of the street. So he's holding out.
00:25:26 --> 00:25:31 So the city is in the process of trying to make it very difficult for him.
00:25:31 --> 00:25:35 The city says they're not sure how he ended up with the street,
00:25:35 --> 00:25:37 the private street of that.
00:25:37 --> 00:25:41 But it appears that that street was maintained by our homeowners association.
00:25:42 --> 00:25:47 And it's possible that that homeowners association kind of, you know,
00:25:47 --> 00:25:50 fell void on making those payments or something like that.
00:25:51 --> 00:25:56 But now that the city is, now that he's not a willing participant to,
00:25:56 --> 00:26:01 you know, to accept what they're only giving him for the lot,
00:26:02 --> 00:26:08 the city may use eminent domain to get that property back.
00:26:09 --> 00:26:13 So, you know, I think he's going to be getting a lawyer. So this is a story
00:26:13 --> 00:26:16 that's not resolved yet. It's still in process.
00:26:16 --> 00:26:21 But, you know, after it kind of got out on social media, people,
00:26:21 --> 00:26:24 you know, I hear a lot of no take backs.
00:26:24 --> 00:26:27 You know, don't be an Indian giver, all those type of things.
00:26:27 --> 00:26:31 So, you know, we'll kind of see what happens with that. But what are your thoughts
00:26:31 --> 00:26:35 of and it's funny that he accidentally bought the street.
00:26:36 --> 00:26:38 But, you know, what are your thoughts regarding this story?
00:26:39 --> 00:26:45 Very interesting story i didn't hear this one so i think is he a black man by the way.
00:26:47 --> 00:26:52 What do you think okay all right that's what i thought okay all right so that
00:26:52 --> 00:26:57 that explains a lot so and i thought when you said that they were trying to
00:26:57 --> 00:27:00 make an offer to him they were go over $5.
00:27:01 --> 00:27:13 Right. You know, but none of, it's amazing to me how, if this was another situation,
00:27:14 --> 00:27:19 how this would be resolved so differently, if you know what I'm saying. Mm-hmm.
00:27:20 --> 00:27:24 I'm surprised. I mean, he hadn't gotten a lawyer yet. He hadn't gotten a property
00:27:24 --> 00:27:27 or some type of real estate guy.
00:27:27 --> 00:27:33 So at least as of when this story came out, he had it doesn't list it.
00:27:33 --> 00:27:37 But he he has been getting a lot of media attention, of course,
00:27:37 --> 00:27:42 calling the treatment unfair and really just urging the city to treat him fair
00:27:42 --> 00:27:44 and to do the honest thing.
00:27:44 --> 00:27:47 Don't take advantage of somebody because oh you
00:27:47 --> 00:27:50 know this last sentence don't just take
00:27:50 --> 00:27:53 advantage of somebody because they don't have
00:27:53 --> 00:27:57 the means to get an attorney so i guess he's trying to say he did not have the
00:27:57 --> 00:28:01 money but i'm i'm sure if there's an attorney in his area who's about civil
00:28:01 --> 00:28:06 rights you know i mean this this seems like something that's on his side so
00:28:06 --> 00:28:10 we'll we'll see i wonder of our boy. Dan Crouch?
00:28:11 --> 00:28:18 Yeah, I wonder if Benjamin could practice in Ohio or get my band Gary down south, you know.
00:28:18 --> 00:28:23 I wonder if he can if any one of them, that's what he needs or he needs to get,
00:28:24 --> 00:28:28 some of the high-profile blacks together like Jarpton and all them guys and
00:28:28 --> 00:28:34 start making some noise because that's the only time they listen to us is when we start making noise.
00:28:34 --> 00:28:41 You know, one of the most powerful scenes in a movie ever was the scene of all
00:28:41 --> 00:28:45 the brothers standing outside of the police station in Malcolm X.
00:28:45 --> 00:28:47 You remember that scene?
00:28:48 --> 00:28:56 And, you know, they walked down to the hospital where the guy was taken and
00:28:56 --> 00:28:57 they got beaten up by the cops.
00:28:59 --> 00:29:03 A police commissioner comes out and he looks at all them guys standing there
00:29:03 --> 00:29:04 and they wasn't making any noise.
00:29:04 --> 00:29:09 They were just standing there peacefully just waiting to be told what to do.
00:29:10 --> 00:29:13 Cop says, all right, that's enough.
00:29:13 --> 00:29:18 Come on, get them out of here. Malcolm never opened his mouth.
00:29:19 --> 00:29:20 Put his hand up.
00:29:22 --> 00:29:25 Turned and he pointed and they walked away.
00:29:26 --> 00:29:32 Sometimes when you have that type of power around you, that power can cause
00:29:32 --> 00:29:34 all types of things to happen.
00:29:34 --> 00:29:38 So if he gets himself surrounded by the right people, you know,
00:29:39 --> 00:29:43 it's a shame that Jesse Jackson is not, you know, that guy anymore, you know,
00:29:43 --> 00:29:50 or, you know, or maybe he can reach out to a President and Obama or Michelle
00:29:50 --> 00:29:53 Obama and get some prominent people.
00:29:54 --> 00:29:58 Or there may be some other people. I'm sure there's a lawyer in his area who's,
00:29:58 --> 00:30:01 because, I mean, this doesn't seem like a complicated issue.
00:30:02 --> 00:30:05 Yeah. I mean. I mean, somebody should want to take this pro bono,
00:30:05 --> 00:30:07 and I'm sure they'll get whatever,
00:30:08 --> 00:30:13 he ends up with as far as the money, because I'm sure they're going to have
00:30:13 --> 00:30:17 to offer him some money for his pain and suffering at some point.
00:30:18 --> 00:30:22 But I just think that this wouldn't be going this way.
00:30:23 --> 00:30:27 And especially for them to go and say eminent domain, when you get into eminent
00:30:27 --> 00:30:33 domain type stuff, that's basically bullying, you know, because that's,
00:30:33 --> 00:30:37 you know, that's what happened here in Delaware and in Wilmington.
00:30:38 --> 00:30:45 Happens everywhere. Yeah. I mean, you know, eminent domain, you know,
00:30:45 --> 00:30:50 a lot of those places down on South Market Street was put up, but torn down.
00:30:50 --> 00:30:54 The original places were torn down because of eminent domain, you know?
00:30:54 --> 00:31:00 So, you know, when you get into that type of stuff, that's just a form of bullying
00:31:00 --> 00:31:02 and taking what you want.
00:31:03 --> 00:31:07 I remember the first cases of that I ever heard of was when MBNA,
00:31:07 --> 00:31:14 the bank first came here to Delaware and they, they opened that branch in Wilmington.
00:31:15 --> 00:31:20 And they bought all those houses on the east side but the way that they got
00:31:20 --> 00:31:24 people and some people didn't want to sell because they've been in them houses forever right.
00:31:26 --> 00:31:29 But had knocking on people's door offering them cash right
00:31:29 --> 00:31:31 on the spot how much do you want for your house
00:31:31 --> 00:31:34 we'll give you fifty thousand dollars
00:31:34 --> 00:31:37 all you have to do is sell us your house that's what
00:31:37 --> 00:31:40 they that's what they were doing some people did it
00:31:40 --> 00:31:43 some people didn't the people that didn't do it lost their
00:31:43 --> 00:31:46 homes you know so we got
00:31:46 --> 00:31:49 to be careful you know this kind of stuff is not fair
00:31:49 --> 00:31:52 the guy the guy did he you
00:31:52 --> 00:31:55 know he got a bonus that he
00:31:55 --> 00:31:58 wasn't expecting when he got the property you know
00:31:58 --> 00:32:04 and man that's pretty cool they end up with a lot in the street too you know
00:32:04 --> 00:32:10 you know the first thing i would have done was rename the street yeah it's mine
00:32:10 --> 00:32:15 would you call it leonard's way or something no no i mean it wouldn't be off
00:32:15 --> 00:32:17 my name but uh well well maybe
00:32:18 --> 00:32:23 i just put my last name on it you know yeah young young drive young drive okay there you go,
00:32:24 --> 00:32:29 but yeah and i'm surprised that he didn't do that you know name it you know
00:32:29 --> 00:32:37 because i know there's a couple streets here named after families in delaware and i know that so but.
00:32:39 --> 00:32:45 We you know i i just hope that he gets the legal counsel that he needs in order
00:32:45 --> 00:32:49 to make make sure that he doesn't get ripped off is this a younger guy by the
00:32:49 --> 00:32:53 way do we know his age he looks like he's in his 30s yeah that's what i thought
00:32:53 --> 00:32:59 kind of thought yeah yeah okay all right well you know,
00:33:00 --> 00:33:04 it's not fair what they're trying to do to him but i'm hoping that he gets some help
00:33:05 --> 00:33:08 to get the help that he needs in order to make sure that he's able to maintain
00:33:08 --> 00:33:17 that yeah definitely I guess we'll hear about that story you know so alright,
00:33:18 --> 00:33:21 I heard this story a couple days ago.
00:33:24 --> 00:33:29 Was watching this this nation this nation and they mentioned this story and
00:33:29 --> 00:33:35 i just found it kind of hard to believe you know especially this particular
00:33:35 --> 00:33:37 person having these kind of problems.
00:33:38 --> 00:33:42 So this is about jimmon
00:33:42 --> 00:33:45 hansu the actor now
00:33:45 --> 00:33:48 a lot of you guys may not recognize the name
00:33:48 --> 00:33:54 but you probably recognize the actor he was in gladiator he was recently in
00:33:54 --> 00:34:03 a quiet place the the prequel that was just on just came out last year yeah
00:34:03 --> 00:34:05 she was in gosh was he in amistad,
00:34:06 --> 00:34:09 he was in amistad that's when he first made his big
00:34:09 --> 00:34:12 splash in fact what wasn't he
00:34:12 --> 00:34:15 the one who said give us free yeah that that
00:34:15 --> 00:34:18 was him that was him matter of fact he was nominated for
00:34:18 --> 00:34:21 golden globe let me
00:34:21 --> 00:34:28 let me give you the backdrop for this it says djman hansu a two-time octon octa
00:34:28 --> 00:34:35 i can't even talk right now oscar nominee has revealed that he continues to
00:34:35 --> 00:34:38 face financial struggles despite decades in Hollywood.
00:34:38 --> 00:34:45 In an interview with CNN in Africa, he criticized the industry for its systematic
00:34:45 --> 00:34:52 racism and expressed frustration at being overlooked in his career. He said that.
00:34:54 --> 00:35:03 He said that also he shared that he has been underpaid and studios have offered him lowball offers.
00:35:03 --> 00:35:09 He has been in filmmaking business for over two decades and still struggles financially.
00:35:09 --> 00:35:12 I'm still struggling to make a living, he said.
00:35:12 --> 00:35:17 I've been in filmmaking business for over two decades with two Oscar nominations
00:35:17 --> 00:35:25 and many blockbuster films. And yet, I'm still struggling financially, definitely underpaid.
00:35:26 --> 00:35:31 He's known for his roles in films like Gladiator, Amistad, A Quiet Place,
00:35:32 --> 00:35:35 previously voiced frustration about being overlooked in his career.
00:35:35 --> 00:35:39 I was nominated for a Golden Globe for Amistad,
00:35:40 --> 00:35:48 but they ignored me for the Oscars, talking about the fact that they thought
00:35:48 --> 00:35:52 that I just came off the boat and off the streets.
00:35:53 --> 00:35:59 Honsu stated in a CNN interview, even though I successfully did that film,
00:35:59 --> 00:36:04 they just didn't feel like I was an actor for whom they should pay any respect.
00:36:04 --> 00:36:07 The conceptual ideal of diversity
00:36:07 --> 00:36:11 still has a long way to go systematic racism don't
00:36:11 --> 00:36:15 change like that anytime soon today
00:36:15 --> 00:36:20 we talk so much about this is your favorite term right here letter today we
00:36:20 --> 00:36:25 talk about so much about oscars being so white that's your favorite thing to
00:36:25 --> 00:36:32 say but i I remember there was a time where I had no support at all,
00:36:33 --> 00:36:39 no support from my own people, no support from the media, from the industry itself.
00:36:39 --> 00:36:46 It felt like you should be happy that you got nominated, and that's that,
00:36:46 --> 00:36:47 he told the publication.
00:36:48 --> 00:36:57 He said I've gone to studios or meetings and they're like wow we felt like he just got off the boat,
00:36:58 --> 00:37:01 then went back we didn't know you
00:37:01 --> 00:37:07 were here as a true actor when you hear things like that you can see that some
00:37:07 --> 00:37:14 people's visions of you or what you represent is very limiting but it is what
00:37:14 --> 00:37:20 it is it's up to me to redeem that now you would think a guy like that,
00:37:21 --> 00:37:23 who is a very dignified actor by the
00:37:23 --> 00:37:26 way you know when he does his when the roles that he's done
00:37:26 --> 00:37:30 he definitely stands out on the screen when
00:37:30 --> 00:37:33 you see him in anything he is of
00:37:33 --> 00:37:36 african descent has that regal like
00:37:36 --> 00:37:39 presence and you
00:37:39 --> 00:37:42 would think that somebody like this who has
00:37:42 --> 00:37:47 been in as many blockbusters as he has would make a bunch of money from these
00:37:47 --> 00:37:54 films when you hear some of the lesser white actors and the salaries that they
00:37:54 --> 00:38:00 get for doing roles that not even compared to the roles that he's done is definitely not fair.
00:38:02 --> 00:38:05 Hollywood still has a problem. You know,
00:38:06 --> 00:38:10 there was an interview with Tyler Perry that I watched a couple of days ago,
00:38:10 --> 00:38:14 and Tyler was talking about the actors, some of the actors that he worked with,
00:38:14 --> 00:38:18 and how they all were thanking him for putting him
00:38:18 --> 00:38:23 putting them in one of his movies because they knew they were going to get paid
00:38:23 --> 00:38:35 you know for what they were worth why do you think we still have these type of issues even though.
00:38:35 --> 00:38:39 Hollywood is making money off of us so i
00:38:39 --> 00:38:42 mean i think one of the biggest things and i feel like you kind of spoke
00:38:42 --> 00:38:45 to it just now you mentioned tyler perry
00:38:45 --> 00:38:49 paying those actors what's their work and
00:38:49 --> 00:38:52 i think it's one of the things where you know
00:38:52 --> 00:38:55 we have to own those productions
00:38:55 --> 00:38:58 in order to be able to give back to the people properly
00:38:58 --> 00:39:02 you know so so like even uh tyler
00:39:02 --> 00:39:05 perry 50 cent lee daniels you
00:39:05 --> 00:39:09 know these are people who are and i
00:39:09 --> 00:39:12 mean i don't have all the numbers but they're probably
00:39:12 --> 00:39:16 paying people at a fairer value
00:39:16 --> 00:39:22 than you know white hollywood because you know i think we already know why would
00:39:22 --> 00:39:26 white hollywood be any different than employers you know when let's say african
00:39:26 --> 00:39:31 americans are getting 75 cents to every dollar for the men and the women may
00:39:31 --> 00:39:35 only be getting 50 cents for every dollar right you know kind of like what's um.
00:39:37 --> 00:39:40 Damn what um what what are the two black
00:39:40 --> 00:39:43 ladies that's in my mind they're probably
00:39:43 --> 00:39:46 biola davis right and angela
00:39:46 --> 00:39:50 bassett right you know like they technically
00:39:50 --> 00:39:53 because they're in a ton of stuff but we
00:39:53 --> 00:39:57 can be sure that they don't get paid appropriately i
00:39:57 --> 00:40:00 mean i always talks about it all the time that
00:40:00 --> 00:40:03 she she still has to fight to
00:40:03 --> 00:40:06 get roles and to be paid according to those
00:40:06 --> 00:40:09 roles and she has two i think she has two oscars now
00:40:09 --> 00:40:12 so you know so yeah definitely
00:40:12 --> 00:40:15 it's not right i mean
00:40:15 --> 00:40:23 you know yes tyler tyler has made the way for a lot of black actors you know
00:40:23 --> 00:40:29 we could talk about his product and everything that we want to but one thing
00:40:29 --> 00:40:34 we know is that the people who work on his movies and his shows,
00:40:34 --> 00:40:37 they want to do exactly that.
00:40:37 --> 00:40:41 They want to work on his movies and his shows because they know that he's going
00:40:41 --> 00:40:48 to give them what they should give for the craft that they're providing.
00:40:50 --> 00:40:55 I like Honsu, who has been doing this for a while. I mean, you know,
00:40:55 --> 00:40:58 Amistad was the first thing I ever saw him in.
00:40:58 --> 00:41:03 And, you know, the guy's been up for the class act and so forth.
00:41:03 --> 00:41:07 And, you know, to go through everything that he goes through,
00:41:07 --> 00:41:12 that he said he's been going through, you know, just in order to get roles and
00:41:12 --> 00:41:16 whatever, you know, and still not be paid the way that he should.
00:41:16 --> 00:41:18 You know, you take a guy like a Denzel Washington.
00:41:19 --> 00:41:25 Denzel is probably, I mean, I don't think too many people would disagree with this.
00:41:25 --> 00:41:32 It's probably the most treasured Black actor that we've had since a guy like
00:41:32 --> 00:41:35 Sidney Poitier, you know, back in the day.
00:41:38 --> 00:41:43 Who Denzel has played roles. When you look at a lot of the roles that Denzel
00:41:43 --> 00:41:48 has played, Denzel has played roles that were written for white people.
00:41:48 --> 00:41:56 Mm-hmm you know and you and and you you can tell by the way the script was written,
00:41:57 --> 00:41:59 you know because they don't dress black and
00:41:59 --> 00:42:03 white in his movies if you ever notice a lot of times they don't address that
00:42:03 --> 00:42:07 he's a black guy in a white world you never notice you know you're if you ever
00:42:07 --> 00:42:13 notice it's like he just blends in right to to the part that he's playing but
00:42:13 --> 00:42:17 Denzel's one of the few guys who can do this.
00:42:18 --> 00:42:23 You know, I mean, I don't think there's another black male actor with his kind
00:42:23 --> 00:42:25 of cachet in Hollywood right now.
00:42:26 --> 00:42:29 I mean, can you think of anybody else? Maybe Will Smith.
00:42:31 --> 00:42:34 Not to the advantage. He's on that next level, I think.
00:42:36 --> 00:42:40 He's on that next level. Well, let me answer this.
00:42:40 --> 00:42:46 Who's closer to Denzel Washington than Will Smith. Who do you think is,
00:42:47 --> 00:42:52 Black actor, male, or, you know. Yeah, ma'am, ma'am.
00:42:55 --> 00:42:59 Will Smith. Will's right. He's right there.
00:43:01 --> 00:43:04 Nobody. Yeah, you know, I'm thinking.
00:43:04 --> 00:43:07 I can't think of anybody that comes close.
00:43:08 --> 00:43:12 Well, of that age, of his age, because, you know, you could say a guy like,
00:43:12 --> 00:43:15 you know, but he's much older.
00:43:15 --> 00:43:19 I'll say morgan freeman yeah yeah that's
00:43:19 --> 00:43:22 where i was going to go morgan freeman yeah but
00:43:22 --> 00:43:28 but you know morgan freeman never well maybe he did but he hasn't he's not known
00:43:28 --> 00:43:33 as an action person either you know he's never an action person no he was never
00:43:33 --> 00:43:38 an action person but he was a he was known as an actor now the only action person
00:43:38 --> 00:43:42 that could be even put in that same levels of Samuel Jackson, you know,
00:43:43 --> 00:43:45 who's played all types of different roles, you know, and,
00:43:46 --> 00:43:51 you know, I mean, it's, you know, basically for the last 20 years,
00:43:51 --> 00:43:53 it's been Denzel and Sam.
00:43:54 --> 00:43:58 Yeah. You know, if you think about it, that's basically who we've been looking
00:43:58 --> 00:44:00 at for the last 20 years, Denzel and Sam.
00:44:01 --> 00:44:06 When it comes to male actors, you know, with a little bit of Eddie thrown in
00:44:06 --> 00:44:09 there every now and then, you know, as far as comedy is concerned.
00:44:10 --> 00:44:12 But, yeah, it's been basically those two.
00:44:13 --> 00:44:17 And, you know, Will is that next... Like I said, I think he's that next tier.
00:44:18 --> 00:44:20 On the women's side, I think it's Viola.
00:44:22 --> 00:44:28 Yeah, and you know, then you got Angela Bassett and some other people,
00:44:28 --> 00:44:32 but I think it's Viola on the other side. So...
00:44:35 --> 00:44:41 Denzel may be the only one because you know sam is in the guinness book of world
00:44:41 --> 00:44:46 records for you know because of the movies number of movies that he's done.
00:44:47 --> 00:44:50 But you know sam jackson has never made a
00:44:50 --> 00:44:53 lot of money you know he's not making 20
00:44:53 --> 00:44:57 million 30 million a pitcher right you
00:44:57 --> 00:45:00 know he's made a lot of money because he's i
00:45:00 --> 00:45:03 think he's also in the in that book for
00:45:03 --> 00:45:05 money earning he's earned a lot
00:45:05 --> 00:45:09 of money but he hasn't gotten like you
00:45:09 --> 00:45:12 know where you got guys like tom cruise getting 20 30
00:45:12 --> 00:45:15 million dollars a pitcher sam never got
00:45:15 --> 00:45:18 that kind of money right right denzel did
00:45:18 --> 00:45:21 get you know he was getting top dollar at one time
00:45:21 --> 00:45:24 you know but i think he's the
00:45:24 --> 00:45:27 only one will well no will was getting
00:45:27 --> 00:45:31 money will was getting money but you
00:45:31 --> 00:45:33 know sam never got the kind of money that will
00:45:33 --> 00:45:36 and and then they were gonna you know
00:45:36 --> 00:45:40 he just was consistent sam did look sam
00:45:40 --> 00:45:44 was putting sam was putting out a movie every week you know
00:45:44 --> 00:45:47 at one point you know see like sam was in everything you know
00:45:47 --> 00:45:50 so but for a guy like this
00:45:50 --> 00:45:58 who we have seen in some of those same movies with a Denzel with a Sam Jackson
00:45:58 --> 00:46:04 and so forth and he's you know I think we play devil's advocate and nothing
00:46:04 --> 00:46:07 against him but you know it's.
00:46:08 --> 00:46:11 Almost like basketball like they're a bunch of great players who
00:46:11 --> 00:46:14 are good at one point and they kind of fell off they're still
00:46:14 --> 00:46:19 around but they're not you know it's like there's always the next up and coming
00:46:19 --> 00:46:27 person and unfortunately you know he's just not where he's at well he's not
00:46:27 --> 00:46:33 white yeah but I mean but you know even for being black you know I mean like what.
00:46:35 --> 00:46:41 What black movies have cast him either you know like I said he was in A Quiet
00:46:41 --> 00:46:47 Place last year I mean that wasn't a black movie but I mean you know the lead
00:46:47 --> 00:46:48 was black and he was one of the,
00:46:50 --> 00:46:55 supporting characters in there but yeah he's never been a leading man,
00:46:57 --> 00:47:03 even in Amistad he wasn't the lead in Amistad but he was nominated as a supporting character.
00:47:05 --> 00:47:08 Gladiator he wasn't the lead he was in the
00:47:08 --> 00:47:11 new gladiators too kind of think of it oh yeah yeah
00:47:11 --> 00:47:15 so but you know
00:47:15 --> 00:47:19 even still even as a supporting character there's
00:47:19 --> 00:47:26 a scale that these guys still get paid right and you know you know you got a
00:47:26 --> 00:47:32 lot of white actors who are making that scale but a guy like him is according
00:47:32 --> 00:47:35 to what he's saying and what others have said about him,
00:47:36 --> 00:47:39 he's not getting close to that skill so it's
00:47:39 --> 00:47:42 really a shame but it just caught my eye
00:47:42 --> 00:47:46 you know because it's hard to believe that in hollywood you know
00:47:46 --> 00:47:49 when you see somebody's had a career like his it's just
00:47:49 --> 00:47:52 hard to believe that he is having that
00:47:52 --> 00:47:55 issue and i just want to bring that up so
00:47:55 --> 00:47:58 all right you guys give me
00:47:58 --> 00:48:00 your thought on that you know as you
00:48:00 --> 00:48:06 think about it okay and i'm just curious to see what you guys think about it
00:48:06 --> 00:48:11 especially those that that watch a lot of movies and shows and so forth what's
00:48:11 --> 00:48:18 your thoughts about it so all right this next thing is something I just wanted to talk about,
00:48:19 --> 00:48:24 I call it the reincarnation of Deion Sanders.
00:48:27 --> 00:48:34 Guy you know i know you're a young guy you know and i know of course i know
00:48:34 --> 00:48:39 you know who dion is so forth and so forth and i know you know because colorado
00:48:39 --> 00:48:41 of course prime time and all that stuff,
00:48:42 --> 00:48:50 but i i remember watching dion in college at florida state the guy was always flashy,
00:48:51 --> 00:48:54 He was very good at what he does.
00:48:55 --> 00:48:58 This guy was playing football. He was playing baseball.
00:48:59 --> 00:49:03 And when he got to the NFL, was playing both of them at the same time.
00:49:04 --> 00:49:10 He would have on football gear, finish the game, go to the airport,
00:49:11 --> 00:49:15 fly to where his baseball team was playing, and put on baseball gear and play in that game.
00:49:16 --> 00:49:19 This is Deion Sanders. That's why they call him prime time.
00:49:20 --> 00:49:24 He had songs written about him. He had his own.
00:49:25 --> 00:49:29 He came out with his own song and music video. I mean, he was everywhere, man.
00:49:30 --> 00:49:38 Of course, flash up to a few years back, Dion becomes coach of the HBCU school, Jackson State.
00:49:39 --> 00:49:43 Everybody's like, okay, what's he doing now? Dion coaching football?
00:49:43 --> 00:49:48 Well, Dion's always been involved in football because he was involved in his
00:49:48 --> 00:49:56 sons football teams coming up he was always a coach or something and the sons
00:49:56 --> 00:49:58 in the mural teams and high school teams and so forth.
00:50:00 --> 00:50:08 And it came about yesterday, last night, it was announced that the Dallas Cowboys
00:50:08 --> 00:50:13 would not be bringing back their coach, Mike McCarthy, who had been their coach
00:50:13 --> 00:50:15 for the last four or five years.
00:50:15 --> 00:50:18 The name that popped up, Deion Sanders.
00:50:19 --> 00:50:24 Well, Deion is currently the coach of the Colorado Buffaloes University,
00:50:25 --> 00:50:26 Colorado University Buffaloes.
00:50:27 --> 00:50:32 And his four sons were playing, but they're both graduating this year.
00:50:32 --> 00:50:40 So even though Deion said that he wants to stay there, he really has no ties to staying there.
00:50:40 --> 00:50:48 So people seem to think that for the right money, Jerry Jones would offer him the coaching job there.
00:50:49 --> 00:50:52 Why is that so important? It's because Deion Sanders used to play there.
00:50:53 --> 00:50:55 That was one of the teams he played for.
00:50:56 --> 00:51:01 He loved his time as a Dallas Cowboy, he says, and it would be a big opportunity.
00:51:02 --> 00:51:09 You know you have to have reinvented yourself when people come looking for you.
00:51:09 --> 00:51:14 And that's what they've been doing with this guy. This guy is more popular now.
00:51:14 --> 00:51:18 He's just as popular now as he was when he was a player, you know.
00:51:19 --> 00:51:23 And when he was a player, he was very popular, you know. So,
00:51:23 --> 00:51:27 I just thought it was interesting that, you know, here it is.
00:51:28 --> 00:51:32 Now, he didn't come. Now, keep in mind, he's not going to Dallas and saying,
00:51:32 --> 00:51:33 I want to coach your team.
00:51:34 --> 00:51:40 They're coming to him and saying, hey, would you be interested in coaching our team?
00:51:40 --> 00:51:48 Now, the Dallas Cowboy organization is the number one sports organization in the world.
00:51:49 --> 00:51:56 They make more money than any other team. Their marketing, their gear,
00:51:56 --> 00:52:01 all of that stuff, nobody sells more stuff, more merchandise than they do.
00:52:03 --> 00:52:08 Logos everywhere, people deck out their cars. I mean, it's crazy.
00:52:09 --> 00:52:16 Then you bring in a guy like him. You imagine the stadium, they just built that stadium down there.
00:52:16 --> 00:52:20 You won't be able to get tickets to that game, those games, if he shows up.
00:52:22 --> 00:52:26 Because they're making so much money by just having Deion there.
00:52:27 --> 00:52:30 You know, is this a marketing ploy? Is this a genius?
00:52:30 --> 00:52:33 Because they ain't won no championships. you know we keep hearing
00:52:33 --> 00:52:36 you know we keep hearing about she hearing about Dallas
00:52:36 --> 00:52:40 Cowboys this Dallas Cowboys that we're you
00:52:40 --> 00:52:43 know the last championship they won my my youngest
00:52:43 --> 00:52:50 son was born that was 30 years ago so so you know so but they stay relevant
00:52:50 --> 00:52:55 because they're the Dallas Cowboys and what way to keep them relevant what better
00:52:55 --> 00:52:58 way to keep them relevant than to bring in a guy like Deion Sanders.
00:52:58 --> 00:53:00 What's his thoughts on this whole thing?
00:53:00 --> 00:53:07 I agree. I think Deion has had the ultimate career progression.
00:53:08 --> 00:53:10 Being a superstar player.
00:53:13 --> 00:53:18 Even with his coaching progression, I think there's something to be said where,
00:53:18 --> 00:53:21 and I'm just going to spin it to entrepreneurship.
00:53:21 --> 00:53:24 As a business owner or whatever.
00:53:26 --> 00:53:29 To be things that you do that other people are not going to understand.
00:53:30 --> 00:53:31 They're going to criticize you.
00:53:32 --> 00:53:35 They're going to say what you should and shouldn't do, what you can and cannot do.
00:53:37 --> 00:53:42 And I'm comparing that to when people heard that he was leaving Jackson State.
00:53:43 --> 00:53:44 You remember how mad people were?
00:53:44 --> 00:53:51 Yeah, they were. And I think it's one of the things where he trusted his gut
00:53:51 --> 00:53:56 and he did what he felt was in his spirit.
00:53:57 --> 00:54:03 And, you know, even when you look back at it nowadays, kind of like there's
00:54:03 --> 00:54:05 a saying that goes something like this.
00:54:06 --> 00:54:10 When you do what you're supposed to do, everything else will fall in line.
00:54:10 --> 00:54:15 Right. And I think back and I can probably guarantee maybe not 100 percent,
00:54:16 --> 00:54:19 but I'm sure 90 percent of those people who were
00:54:19 --> 00:54:23 upset at him for leaving Jackson state are probably
00:54:23 --> 00:54:26 proud at the accomplishment that he's done you know i mean you
00:54:26 --> 00:54:29 know like you're mad at the time because you're taking it personal but
00:54:29 --> 00:54:33 you know you got to think of you know deon's trying to do what's best for him
00:54:33 --> 00:54:38 not in a selfish way but you know he got to do what's best for him and he did
00:54:38 --> 00:54:41 it he fought through controversy because you know like there are a lot of people
00:54:41 --> 00:54:45 who hated him after that probably hoped he failed and called him a sellout and
00:54:45 --> 00:54:47 all long story short, I just say.
00:54:49 --> 00:54:55 He has done a great job at being authentically himself and I think that's one
00:54:55 --> 00:55:01 of the reasons why people have liked him so much because he does a lot of talking,
00:55:01 --> 00:55:03 but I don't feel like he's cocky.
00:55:05 --> 00:55:10 And I mean, he probably is a little cocky, but, you know, it's and if it is
00:55:10 --> 00:55:14 cockiness, I feel like it's cockiness mixed with intelligence,
00:55:14 --> 00:55:18 charisma, dedication, enthusiasm.
00:55:19 --> 00:55:21 You know, I mean, it's like all those things where it's like,
00:55:21 --> 00:55:23 you know, like I just can't say he's cocky.
00:55:23 --> 00:55:27 You know, I like I think he's motivated, determined. He's sincere.
00:55:28 --> 00:55:33 He's he even sees passionate and compassionate at times. So long story short,
00:55:33 --> 00:55:36 I just to say that I really like this transition he's going on.
00:55:37 --> 00:55:40 And, you know, I can't lie. When he left Jackson State, I was like,
00:55:40 --> 00:55:42 oh, man, you know, he came and did his thing.
00:55:42 --> 00:55:47 But but look, you know, now we have Deshaun Jackson and Michael Vick.
00:55:48 --> 00:55:51 They're both at HBCUs. And I was going through some stories.
00:55:52 --> 00:55:56 And there are a lot of top recruits who are looking to come to Delaware State
00:55:56 --> 00:55:59 now. And I'm sure there's a lot of top recruits looking to come to Norfolk State.
00:56:00 --> 00:56:05 So, you know, I think I'm just going to say I think Deion Sanders really kind
00:56:05 --> 00:56:08 of, you know, he kind of set the ball rolling.
00:56:08 --> 00:56:13 And I wouldn't be surprised if there's some other top retired athletes who are
00:56:13 --> 00:56:15 looking to go into college sports coaching as well.
00:56:15 --> 00:56:19 Well, it's funny that you just said what you just said, because that's where I was going.
00:56:19 --> 00:56:23 And you actually went there. so the
00:56:23 --> 00:56:26 deon sanders effect starts at
00:56:26 --> 00:56:29 jackson state with him
00:56:29 --> 00:56:36 coming there you know he brings in this kid travis hunter travis hunter at the
00:56:36 --> 00:56:42 time was one of the top recruits in the nation he could have went anywhere leonard
00:56:42 --> 00:56:47 and deon taught him to come into jackson state to play with his son.
00:56:48 --> 00:56:53 Now, at the time, I remember when it happened. I didn't know much about Travis
00:56:53 --> 00:56:57 Hunter at the time when it happened, but everybody just kept talking about Deion
00:56:57 --> 00:57:03 just pulled off the biggest coup ever by bringing this kid to Jackson State.
00:57:03 --> 00:57:07 Now, keep in mind, people, Jackson State is in Mississippi.
00:57:09 --> 00:57:15 It's not a glamorous, you know, it's not one of the most glamorous schools around
00:57:15 --> 00:57:20 or whatever the case may be, you know, but they got him there.
00:57:20 --> 00:57:23 And he played two years down there and was a beast.
00:57:24 --> 00:57:30 Deion gets the call to go to Colorado. He takes his two sons and he takes Travis with him.
00:57:31 --> 00:57:38 Travis graduates this year with a 4.0 grade point average and walks away with
00:57:38 --> 00:57:41 the best player in the country and the Heisman Trophy.
00:57:42 --> 00:57:45 Now, this is the Deion Sanders effect.
00:57:46 --> 00:57:54 The butterfly effect from Deion Sanders, all of a sudden, Michael Vick gets hired at Norfolk State.
00:57:54 --> 00:57:59 Then the next thing you know, we heard about the Sean Jackson at Delaware State.
00:57:59 --> 00:58:07 Right. they already have recruited kids of former pro football players to come
00:58:07 --> 00:58:08 and play for them already.
00:58:09 --> 00:58:13 You know, matter of fact, did Sean Jackson decide a Hall of Famer,
00:58:13 --> 00:58:18 Antonio Gates Jr., whose father is a Hall of Famer, to come there?
00:58:18 --> 00:58:23 You know, none of these kids are probably thinking about these schools like
00:58:23 --> 00:58:26 Norfolk State and Delaware State to go to.
00:58:26 --> 00:58:29 But now they got these names these name
00:58:29 --> 00:58:32 coaches coming here and maybe they'll do
00:58:32 --> 00:58:35 exactly what deon did at the schools you know
00:58:35 --> 00:58:38 you know so it makes all the difference in the world because uh
00:58:38 --> 00:58:46 the spotlight right now aren't are on hbcus so why not bring in tom not coaches
00:58:46 --> 00:58:52 and even though michael vick and deshaun they've done some coaching on the high
00:58:52 --> 00:58:56 school level but they have not you know, been coaches, you know what I mean?
00:58:56 --> 00:58:59 So, so it's going to be a challenge for them, but they're going to bring in
00:58:59 --> 00:59:01 all the, what's going to come. Dion did look.
00:59:01 --> 00:59:06 When you looked at Dion sideline, Dion had like four or five assistant coaches
00:59:06 --> 00:59:07 that were hall of famers.
00:59:08 --> 00:59:13 Terrell Owens, Warren Sapp. I mean, the guy had a lot of who to with people
00:59:13 --> 00:59:15 on the sideline, you know?
00:59:16 --> 00:59:21 So this is why, you know, I wanted to bring this up. People may pay attention.
00:59:21 --> 00:59:23 Even if he doesn't go to Dallas.
00:59:24 --> 00:59:29 That Dallas is even trying to get him, it's big. It really is.
00:59:30 --> 00:59:31 Because Jerry Jones knows.
00:59:32 --> 00:59:38 Look, Jerry Jones needs Deion more than Deion needs the Dallas Cowboys. That is true.
00:59:38 --> 00:59:43 Yeah. So I just wanted to bring that up because it is a hot topic.
00:59:43 --> 00:59:46 It is big news right now. I don't know if it's going to happen.
00:59:46 --> 00:59:50 I don't necessarily want it to happen because that means that Deion's in our
00:59:50 --> 00:59:51 conference, the Eagles conference.
00:59:52 --> 00:59:55 You know and of course well what
00:59:55 --> 00:59:58 would they they i mean it won't be the first time you went against the
00:59:58 --> 01:00:01 uh yeah about that
01:00:01 --> 01:00:07 yeah but but the problem is do we really want them in in our conference at this
01:00:07 --> 01:00:12 time no we don't we really don't so so but we'll we'll see what happens but
01:00:12 --> 01:00:16 i just wanted to bring that up and i'm sure everybody will have their opinions
01:00:16 --> 01:00:18 on what we had to say about dion But,
01:00:18 --> 01:00:22 you know, that's the Deion Sanders effect there.
01:00:22 --> 01:00:27 Okay. That brings us to Dave's Corner, Leonard's favorite part of the show.
01:00:28 --> 01:00:32 So I got a question for you today, Leonard. Let's see how you handle this one.
01:00:33 --> 01:00:35 Leonard always gets scared when I ask these questions.
01:00:35 --> 01:00:39 So, all right, here we go. And keep it clean.
01:00:43 --> 01:00:47 I'll try. Okay, because we know this can go so many ways. So,
01:00:47 --> 01:00:51 you know, so you are in the middle of a dream.
01:00:51 --> 01:00:58 It is a great dream. And you are given in the dream an opportunity to stay in
01:00:58 --> 01:01:06 the dream forever, never waking up or you can wake up and return back to your same old life.
01:01:06 --> 01:01:11 What are you dreaming about? And what would be your choice?
01:01:11 --> 01:01:16 That's your definition of clarity. You had just thought about that.
01:01:17 --> 01:01:19 You know, phone going on the fritz.
01:01:21 --> 01:01:25 I had a great dream. You know, if I had a great dream, it'd probably be about my childhood.
01:01:26 --> 01:01:30 I don't know exactly what it would be about, but it'd probably be like visiting
01:01:30 --> 01:01:37 families, you know, being with friends, forgetting the stress of life of bills and responsibilities.
01:01:38 --> 01:01:41 You know, Dave, you know, when I was a little kid, the only responsibility I
01:01:41 --> 01:01:44 had was to let the dog outside and not to lose my house key.
01:01:45 --> 01:01:49 Like that, that was about it. You were a last key kid.
01:01:51 --> 01:01:57 But that would probably be my. And would I stay in it or would I not? I definitely would not.
01:01:58 --> 01:02:01 Because, you know, Dave, I had a couple of dreams that started out great.
01:02:01 --> 01:02:06 And then for some reason, I end up in high school and my chemistry class with no clothes on.
01:02:07 --> 01:02:15 I'd be like, what is going on? So I am going to bypass my dream and I'm going
01:02:15 --> 01:02:22 to fortunately and unfortunately return back to my same old life,
01:02:22 --> 01:02:24 as you put it in your description.
01:02:26 --> 01:02:31 That's funny. That's funny. Well, Dave, you know, so I have two reoccurring dreams.
01:02:32 --> 01:02:36 One is being naked in situations that I have no business being naked.
01:02:37 --> 01:02:43 And then the second one is one where...
01:02:44 --> 01:02:48 Feet feel like cinder blocks and i
01:02:48 --> 01:02:51 can barely walk like it takes so much energy to
01:02:51 --> 01:02:54 walk and the only way i can move is
01:02:54 --> 01:02:57 to turn around and walk backwards like walk backwards
01:02:57 --> 01:03:00 in the direction i'm going but if i try to walk
01:03:00 --> 01:03:06 forward like it's just so draining i can't even do it those are two reoccurring
01:03:06 --> 01:03:11 dreams that i do have and and of course of course when i looked up the one with
01:03:11 --> 01:03:15 the walking it talked about stress you know like you're stressed and I was like
01:03:15 --> 01:03:18 oh yeah I get it was just stress they wasn't talking about the future,
01:03:18 --> 01:03:23 well no it was just it was really just talking about stress and being overwhelmed
01:03:23 --> 01:03:31 and you know that kind of stuff then being naked I forget what that means but I know what that means,
01:03:32 --> 01:03:41 you can do it you can do it I know exactly what that means But we don't feel
01:03:41 --> 01:03:43 psychic or anything to tell them what that means to do.
01:03:46 --> 01:03:50 Anyway. All right. What about me?
01:03:50 --> 01:03:55 You know, you did take, you took exactly what I was going to say about the childhood thing.
01:03:56 --> 01:03:59 No, no, no, no, no. No, the childhood thing. No.
01:04:00 --> 01:04:05 I had a great childhood. And, you know, you've heard me reference it before.
01:04:05 --> 01:04:12 And it was just a, where I grew up at. and the people that I grew up with,
01:04:12 --> 01:04:18 the time, you know, you know, the friends and the family, my family.
01:04:20 --> 01:04:26 If I can go, there's a certain point in my childhood, like, you know,
01:04:27 --> 01:04:30 like my early teens, mid-teens area.
01:04:30 --> 01:04:35 If I can go back to that time and in my dream,
01:04:35 --> 01:04:38 if I was dreaming about it, you know
01:04:38 --> 01:04:41 i i don't i think i will wave off coming back
01:04:41 --> 01:04:45 because that's when i was at my happiest thing you
01:04:45 --> 01:04:50 know life was simple didn't really
01:04:50 --> 01:04:56 have a care in the world and you have really good true friends you didn't have
01:04:56 --> 01:05:02 a lot of fake friends you know yeah and you're and and i came from a large extended
01:05:02 --> 01:05:07 family and a family was always around and we just really,
01:05:08 --> 01:05:09 really cared about each other.
01:05:10 --> 01:05:15 If I found myself back in that particular time.
01:05:16 --> 01:05:21 Hard for me to come home it really would yeah i agree well dave before you take
01:05:21 --> 01:05:25 that dream just you know drop off your credit cards and your wallet over here.
01:05:27 --> 01:05:32 Look i would have to try to look i would probably try to sneak the wall the
01:05:32 --> 01:05:37 credit cards with me so i just they just would have a hard time finding me that's
01:05:37 --> 01:05:42 all right they're gonna say why is this why are these charges coming up from
01:05:42 --> 01:05:45 1980 something, you know?
01:05:47 --> 01:05:51 Well, Dave, you mess around and take your car back and it might end up being
01:05:51 --> 01:05:54 expired. You couldn't even use it back when you were a kid.
01:05:54 --> 01:05:58 I know. Well, I would have to use it because as soon as they expire,
01:05:58 --> 01:06:02 you know, I ain't getting a new one. I can't give a new address or anything. So, you know, so.
01:06:03 --> 01:06:07 But yeah, that that would that would probably be, you know, funny because you
01:06:07 --> 01:06:11 mentioned the second one. But I know if I had a second one, it would just be
01:06:11 --> 01:06:17 about to pick the sixth number in the Powerball.
01:06:21 --> 01:06:26 As a kid? No, not necessarily as a kid.
01:06:26 --> 01:06:29 It could be as a soul. You would be eight years old with $200 million.
01:06:29 --> 01:06:31 I wouldn't be able to collect them.
01:06:31 --> 01:06:35 I would have to get my mom to collect it. Yeah, I wouldn't be able to collect.
01:06:35 --> 01:06:38 So I got to be old enough to collect it. You know what I mean?
01:06:40 --> 01:06:45 Well, and Dave, since you're a big sports fan, too, you should be betting on all the Super Bowls.
01:06:46 --> 01:06:48 Well, yeah, I'll be Marty McFly, man.
01:06:49 --> 01:06:52 I go back and get that book, get that sports betting book. Remember,
01:06:52 --> 01:06:57 what was that, Back to the Future 2 or 3? 3. 1-0.
01:06:58 --> 01:07:02 Yeah, I go back and get that book.
01:07:04 --> 01:07:07 Man, look, you have a couple campgrounds, Leonard.
01:07:08 --> 01:07:13 Yeah let's do it and look and you wouldn't have to work them you have your own

01:07:25 --> 01:07:30 you stay or would you go you know that's basically what it comes down to would you stay or would you go.
