[00:00:00] Alright y'all, get ready for another edition of News & Trends with your host Dave and again 2024 man. Well, I've gone into four years since the pandemic started. That's hard to believe right? Four years since it started. It just, you know, the years and Dave, you're right. Let me show gratitude, because I mean, in a lot of ways it was a great year, but you know how like there's so much you wanna do and you only get a certain amount done.
[00:03:02] So 2024 is where I wanna accomplish a lot of the goals
[00:03:07] that I said at the beginning of the year. So, so we'll see what happens. You know, I look forward to 2024 because, you know, in my mind is one year close to two retirement. I mean, Dave, you say that, but you get in, you get in all that good state money.
[00:04:20] You may not want to. I was hoping to be able to get the video so you guys can hear this. But there's a video that's out there on TikTok of a young man. He's talking in his car and he's talking about experience that he had. He went into, I think he said he used to be the 90 year old used to be a firefighter. And he's talking to him, and he's telling him stories about when he was a firefighter and how he had, you know well and cops as well. I mean firefighters as well in these type of situations where they had to, you know, choose to whether or not to save people of color or black people I should say because that's who he mainly
[00:08:20] was talking about and or just let them, and yeah, that's all true. And of course, a lot of it had to do with the time that it was back then. But the fact that he's sitting there and he's having this conversation with this young black guy in reference to what he did.
[00:09:40] And, you know, if you listen to the black guy talk,
[00:09:45] he's pretty taken aback by the whole thing. really, you know, there's no excuse for that regardless of what the situation may be. You take an oath as a firefighter, as a police officer, you know, you take an oath to serve and protect or to help and, you know, here's a guy celebrating his 90-year birthday and on his 90-year birthday because he encounters this young man he decides to put all of this out there now I'm sure that wasn't by
[00:12:23] coincidence that it happened that way because this was probably his opportunity to in a certain way, kind of be set free,
[00:13:42] from the guilt he's been holding.
[00:13:43] Because I'm sure it was probably,
[00:13:47] even though what he did was horrible But I just wanted to bring that up. I saw that video really struck me, especially me coming up during the time that, you know, during the 60s and so forth, when things were really out of hand at that particular time to hear this type of thing. And, you know, I just thought it was interesting.
[00:15:04] And so for anybody that may want to see that, were or are in a better place and there will be in the middle of next year You know, which is crazy because during the pandemic, you know, a lot of people got a lot of excess money You know, there was a lot of stipends and ways everyone's talking about, you know, where's my STEMI
[00:16:24] But they're actually saying in the middle of next year
[00:17:28] with and I think the article mentioned as well the rising price of food, the rising price of services,
[00:17:34] you know, the rising price of utilities. So, you know, this is something that I think,
[00:17:41] you know, a lot of people have to be concerned with because, you know, the only thing that's been surprisingly kind of consistent is gas prices right now. You know, and I find that a little interesting. It's kind of scary to be honest with you because I have a feeling that we want to have a moment where everything's going to shoot back up to $4 again, you know, like we had
[00:19:02] last year around this time. So, but I, you know, I to the way they should have saved it. And so as you go into 2024, a lot of people are in debt. A lot of people have gotten theirself in debt because of everything that's going on out there. You know, even, I mean, you could take a look around during the Christmas time
[00:20:22] and you looked at the shopping. I mean, I mean, are partially the blame for that, but then, you know, because they had to get in, they had to get with the program in order for them to keep up with the program, you know what I mean? So 2024 is gonna be an interesting year because of course it's election year too.
[00:21:42] And we know how that goes when there's a big election year.
[00:21:46] So depending on who's gonna it looks like next year, 99% of the people are gonna be out of decline. Yeah, yeah. And I guess we'll be talking about that
[00:23:02] at this time next year.
[00:23:04] We'll say, yeah.
[00:23:07] We shall. is based, but the American woman is finding happiness overseas with her home she purchased in Italy. She sent a Sinclair detail how a trip to Valermo Sicily on a whim resulted in her buying a
[00:24:22] home for $450,000, it was time to look in a different direction. And our Facebook group of Americans who moved to Europe, Sinclair revealed that she only spent around $21,000 to fix the house up. As a result, she managed to turn the garage into a living room and a bar,600 a month. Okay. All right. Um, um, Wi-Fi and utilities and Lana and additional $1, and keep in mind, even if you found something like that here in Delaware, you know, by the time, you know, with the renovations and everything, you're going to spend over $100,000 easily. And then you still got to pay, you know, you got to pay
[00:29:41] taxes, property taxes. You got to do this. You got to do that, man. I mean, if you can make that a kind of adjustment and especially her being a woman of color and being able to, to be able to go out there and make a decision like this. And, and, and I hear that Sicily is a place that almost anybody can live. I've heard that before.
[00:32:04] story, especially since we just got this talking about economy and money and all that kind of stuff. But there's alternative, there's alternatives out there in order to get the best
[00:32:12] the best value for the money that you do have. And I thought she did a great job with that.
[00:32:19] So I asked her to Miss Sinclair for her purchase and hopefully she gets the how much Leonard's gonna be able to keep up with this. But I just thought, you know, I saw this list called the best TV dramas of 2023. Now, I know Leonard's not a big TV watcher, but I know he watches some of this stuff. But for our listeners, because sometimes I have to, you know,
[00:33:41] get away from what I think Leonard might do
[00:33:43] or whatever I gotta talk to you guys
[00:33:46] because I know how you guys are. But he's been saying this to me for a while ever since it went off. But anyway, snowfall, the way they ended it, a lot of people was pretty upset at first, but then when people really dissected what they did, how Franklin just kind of came the
[00:35:00] main character Franklin from the show kind of mirror each other in a lot of ways with the main characters and even how they both kind of end up at the end. So it's just interesting how you see Franklin
[00:36:20] at the end. I know you say you didn't get a get to see any of this? No, you know, I feel like I passed it on Disney Plus, but I never actually watched it.? Yes. It's on is it Netflix or a peacock? It's one peacock I think it is. Okay. But
[00:40:24] yes, it's a very popular story he's smooth. of him. You know Jeff, you know Carlton had to have issues with Will coming in. You know what I mean? Right. Yeah. So I like how they did this show. I thought it was a great flip and I hear they're talking about doing a couple
[00:41:40] other shows out you know like this too. So I'm gonna start watching it over the weekend. I'll be able to talk more about that as I start watching it, but I heard it's very, very good. So another show is Swarm. I did watch a little bit of that with Dominique Fish thinking. Yeah, I have seen some of that. And I, yeah, okay. Is it good? Yeah, I mean, I thought was interesting. I know that I did not get through the whole first season, but it like, it's definitely one of the ones when you start watching it and you have a good grasp of what's going on.
[00:44:21] You'll keep watching it.
[00:44:22] Yeah.
[00:44:23] And that's all I said
[00:45:40] They remember there was more than one there was more than one attempt
[00:45:44] Okay
[00:46:44] particular ones, but I'm gonna throw the bear in there too. I really like that show as well
[00:46:45] so Any any other show you might want to add?
[00:46:50] No
[00:46:52] So I mean I do know on Netflix they have some top Netflix shows
[00:46:56] So the wife and I we watched this
[00:47:01] Asian I guess maybe Chinese drama and
[00:48:09] men that series about two sisters who were separated a long time ago and then what happens when they come back together but it's called blood and water.
[00:48:14] Yeah, I'm on top and I what this one is called because I don't know.
[00:48:21] Yeah. Oh wow. You don't see it okay. No, that was supposed to be pretty good. I think that was a remake too, show gun. Oh, well, I mean, it is what it is. It is what it is, okay.
[00:49:40] All right, well, you guys have been listening to news
[00:49:42] and trends with Dave and Len,
[00:49:44] we're coming to the making of the album. So with that being said, I just wanted to kind of talk about because it was unsurprising thing. It's still the number one
[00:52:06] of you what songs were on the album. Because at that time Michael was you know Michael just come off the off the wall album and he had like this that off the wall then this and then
[00:52:13] bad I mean he had the albums in a row that had a lot of music that we did you know a lot
[00:52:18] of popular music on it. I did not know that heart of believe didn't this seem like it was a bigger album than that? Yeah, I definitely thought it was a bigger one Yeah, so But it was only nine songs on this album and keeping my seven of them were top ten hits That's even that's crazy in itself right there
[00:53:42] so It went from one to be starting something to the second song single was baby be mine
[00:54:42] He write an album any better than that. I know.
[00:54:43] And he definitely came with it.
[00:54:47] They came with him and Quincy man.
[00:54:50] And they said Michael wrote like 80% of the album.
[00:54:54] Quincy did a composing, but he wrote the 80% of the album.
[00:55:03] But when you look at the lineup of the songs and the way they were lined up, he just said 10, you know, they know her songs. Yeah. But even Beyonce can't even say that you know every song on her album. Well, I mean, just trust me, Dave. Them fans, though, every song. I know, her fans, but I'm talking about, all these songs got radio play. Yeah. All these songs were, I mean,
[00:56:22] everybody knew every one of these songs.
[00:56:25] I mean, I don sure. Yeah, yeah, so. But I just thought it was interesting when I went through looking at this album and I remember, you know,
[00:57:40] I remember it when the album came out.
[00:57:43] But I just forgot about the music that was on this album
[00:57:46] when, till I watched that documentary
[00:57:48] and you said, I thought he was the greatest entertainer to ever. show time yeah yeah and for any listeners who don't have access to show time this message Dave he'll send you his password. No by now I'm sure you because you know soon this shows one time and YouTube gets a hold of it I'm sure you can go to YouTube and see parts of it anyway so so but it's definitely
[01:00:21] worthwhile checking out yeah definitely they have the musicians that played on the album you guys, be safe, whatever you do, be careful, and enjoy yourself. All right, we'll talk to you in the new year. All right, happy new year. Join us next week for another edition of
