00:00:18 --> 00:00:24 Talk to him low. How could I possibly be inconspicuous? With my flow is f***ing ridiculous.
00:00:24 --> 00:00:26 There's quite an accent. See, I'm from the south.
00:00:28 --> 00:00:31 Welcome, welcome, welcome to News and Trends with Dave and Lynn.
00:00:32 --> 00:00:37 This is one of your hosts, Mr. Dave Coker, proprietor of Dave Mark Inc.,
00:00:37 --> 00:00:40 promoter, event planner, and all-around good guy.
00:00:40 --> 00:00:45 You can now listen to us on the MBG Podcast Network.
00:00:45 --> 00:00:50 So check out that network and all the shows that we also have on there as well.
00:00:51 --> 00:00:54 And I'm hanging out with my partner, Mr. Leonard Young. What's going on?
00:00:55 --> 00:00:58 Hey, Dave. Everything is good. Happy belated Thanksgiving.
00:00:59 --> 00:01:03 Well, this is Leonard Young, CEO of National Black Guy, DelawareBlack.com,
00:01:04 --> 00:01:06 Black Media Specialist, all around good guy.
00:01:07 --> 00:01:11 So Dave, how was your Thanksgiving? It was good. You know, just kind of chilled
00:01:11 --> 00:01:13 and ate and ate, you know.
00:01:14 --> 00:01:17 You know, watched football because they had three football games on,
00:01:17 --> 00:01:22 did that, and, you know, then I was off the next day too. You know,
00:01:22 --> 00:01:24 we get Thursday and Friday off.
00:01:24 --> 00:01:29 So, you know, ate some more and, you know, watched football again,
00:01:29 --> 00:01:33 you know, so it was a good time. How about you? How was things down at the ranch?
00:01:33 --> 00:01:38 Yeah, mine was good. No complaints. You know, we had family come in town.
00:01:38 --> 00:01:41 And similarly well you know what this was
00:01:41 --> 00:01:44 the first thing i always feel like thanksgiving i always stuff
00:01:44 --> 00:01:47 myself where i either cannot stay awake
00:01:47 --> 00:01:50 or i stuff myself where it's just hurt
00:01:50 --> 00:01:53 somebody okay why i do it but you know this was the first thing i
00:01:53 --> 00:01:56 just had two plates and kind of kept it moving and actually
00:01:56 --> 00:02:00 i felt pretty good with it too so how much
00:02:00 --> 00:02:06 did you eat you know in reference to leftovers over the next couple days did
00:02:06 --> 00:02:12 you how many days do you eat leftovers after thanksgiving so i was mad because
00:02:12 --> 00:02:17 all the meats were gone either thanksgiving or or the next because you know
00:02:17 --> 00:02:19 you know at the end of thanksgiving everyone starts.
00:02:21 --> 00:02:26 Containers to take yeah and so you know to be on date i don't even know what
00:02:26 --> 00:02:33 meats we had but i know i wanted some ham and the next day they're like one
00:02:33 --> 00:02:35 slice of ham cut into quarters,
00:02:36 --> 00:02:43 right everybody putting over their hand about yeah so I mean but you know all
00:02:43 --> 00:02:45 in all it was good good time,
00:02:46 --> 00:02:49 i'm glad the you know the weather was decent
00:02:49 --> 00:02:52 so i'm not complaining yeah and it
00:02:52 --> 00:02:56 was it wasn't it wasn't a bad day it was nice yeah yeah you
00:02:56 --> 00:03:00 know we have gotten some colder weather i mean they even talked about some snow
00:03:00 --> 00:03:06 possibly coming up in the in the next couple days so i hope not yeah i don't
00:03:06 --> 00:03:12 think it's gonna be i don't think it's gonna be that bad but you know it's you
00:03:12 --> 00:03:15 know It's still a possibility because the weather,
00:03:15 --> 00:03:18 you know, they're talking about rain that could turn into snow.
00:03:18 --> 00:03:25 So, you know, so and of course, we're still at a drought for rain, you know. Yeah.
00:03:26 --> 00:03:29 But it is what it is. We'll see what happens, folks.
00:03:29 --> 00:03:34 We hope that your Thanksgiving was well. We, you know, didn't get a chance to
00:03:34 --> 00:03:36 talk with you guys last weekend.
00:03:36 --> 00:03:42 And I know, you know, I posted something from News and Trends on our social
00:03:42 --> 00:03:45 media pages, and I saw a lot of people saw it.
00:03:45 --> 00:03:48 So thank you for taking the time to acknowledge that post.
00:03:48 --> 00:03:55 And we want everyone to know that we are thankful for you guys for holding it
00:03:55 --> 00:03:57 down with us for four years.
00:03:57 --> 00:04:02 We started year four last month, year four last month.
00:04:02 --> 00:04:05 So we really appreciate each and every one that has
00:04:05 --> 00:04:08 taken the time to listen to the show even if it's
00:04:08 --> 00:04:11 only been once you know that you've
00:04:11 --> 00:04:16 taken the time to listen to the show and you know and for those who have been
00:04:16 --> 00:04:21 with us from day one we definitely really appreciate you guys you know for hanging
00:04:21 --> 00:04:27 in with us all these all these years so all right so with all that being said
00:04:27 --> 00:04:29 i guess We got a few things to talk to you about.
00:04:30 --> 00:04:36 Now, this was a story that I kind of came across last week, but I want to still
00:04:36 --> 00:04:41 talk about it because, you know, I was checking things out after that.
00:04:43 --> 00:04:46 After this day happened and it
00:04:46 --> 00:04:49 kind of fell in line with the story that i have here
00:04:49 --> 00:04:52 you know this tells you that we're in a different day and
00:04:52 --> 00:04:55 time right now so this story
00:04:55 --> 00:05:02 is about what black friday history tells us about holiday shopping in 2024 and
00:05:02 --> 00:05:06 it says the holiday shopping season is about to reach full speed now keep in
00:05:06 --> 00:05:14 mind this was before black friday which kicked off post-Thanksgiving retail rush later this week.
00:05:14 --> 00:05:19 The annual sales event no longer creates the midnight mall crowds or doorbuster
00:05:19 --> 00:05:23 mayhem of recent decades,
00:05:23 --> 00:05:31 in large part due to the ease of online shopping and habits forged during the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:05:33 --> 00:05:37 At the same time, earlier and earlier Black Friday-like promotions,
00:05:37 --> 00:05:42 as well as the growing strength of other shopping events, Hello,
00:05:43 --> 00:05:47 like Cyber Monday, continue to change the holiday spending landscape.
00:05:47 --> 00:05:53 Here's what you need to know about Black Friday's history and where things stand in 2024.
00:05:54 --> 00:06:00 Black Friday falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving each year or on November
00:06:00 --> 00:06:04 29th this year, which was last Friday.
00:06:04 --> 00:06:07 How old is Black Friday? where does its name
00:06:07 --> 00:06:11 come from the term black friday is
00:06:11 --> 00:06:13 and wait before i even say this do
00:06:13 --> 00:06:16 you know what black friday the term black friday
00:06:16 --> 00:06:19 comes from i feel like i used to but it's it's
00:06:19 --> 00:06:25 not ringing a bell okay all right the term black friday is several generations
00:06:25 --> 00:06:31 old but it wasn't always associated with the holiday retail frenzy that we know
00:06:31 --> 00:06:39 of and especially today The gold market crash of September 1869, for example.
00:06:40 --> 00:06:47 Was notably dubbed Black Friday. The phrase used in relation to shopping the
00:06:47 --> 00:06:48 day after Thanksgiving,
00:06:48 --> 00:06:53 however, is most often traced to Philadelphia in the mid-20th century,
00:06:53 --> 00:06:59 when police and other city workers had to deal with large crowds that congregated
00:06:59 --> 00:07:04 before the annual Army-Navy football game and to take advantage of seasonal sales.
00:07:05 --> 00:07:10 That's why the bus drivers and the cab drivers called today Black Friday.
00:07:10 --> 00:07:17 They think in terms of the headaches it gave them in trying to get people where
00:07:17 --> 00:07:23 they needed to be, which was to the stores and trying to get these special deals.
00:07:24 --> 00:07:29 Earlier references date back to the 1950s and the 1960s.
00:07:29 --> 00:07:32 You know, starting in the 1980s, national
00:07:32 --> 00:07:36 retailers began claiming that Black Friday represented
00:07:36 --> 00:07:40 when they went from operating in the red to
00:07:40 --> 00:07:42 in the black thanks to the holiday demand and that
00:07:42 --> 00:07:46 is the most popular terminology when
00:07:46 --> 00:07:48 it comes to black friday is that part
00:07:48 --> 00:07:51 i just read because i'm that's all i've ever heard all
00:07:51 --> 00:07:54 these years i didn't hear that other part i just read i've never heard that
00:07:54 --> 00:07:58 before but this part is what i've always been
00:07:58 --> 00:08:01 told about but since many retail companies
00:08:01 --> 00:08:04 now operate in the black at various times of the
00:08:04 --> 00:08:08 year this interpretation should be taken with a grain of salt that first day
00:08:08 --> 00:08:14 so i'm gonna i'm gonna stop reading with that right there okay there was one
00:08:14 --> 00:08:19 other thing i think i wanted to but i think i'm yeah i'm gonna stop there so
00:08:19 --> 00:08:23 black friday used to be a really big thing,
00:08:24 --> 00:08:28 Did you ever find yourself in a store during Black Friday?
00:08:29 --> 00:08:35 I'm sure I have, but it was never during that midnight to 2 a.m.
00:08:35 --> 00:08:39 Waiting in line in the dark right after Thanksgiving. It was never that.
00:08:39 --> 00:08:43 That's for sure. I remember the first time because I'm not a shopper.
00:08:43 --> 00:08:46 I never have been. I spent 15 years in retail.
00:08:46 --> 00:08:49 I remember the Christmas holiday very well.
00:08:49 --> 00:08:56 I remember how things got crazy things got and that kind of soured me on shopping i'm sure,
00:08:57 --> 00:09:04 um excuse me i know when i go into a store i know what i want i go in and get
00:09:04 --> 00:09:07 it if i don't see it i leave i'm not a window shopper i'm not staying in the
00:09:07 --> 00:09:12 store looking at other stuff i'm just not a shopper so black friday i never
00:09:12 --> 00:09:17 forget the first time i ever encountered a black friday was at Walmart on 40.
00:09:18 --> 00:09:23 And I went with a friend of mine. They were going there to take advantage of
00:09:23 --> 00:09:28 one of the big screen TVs and a couple other things that they saw.
00:09:28 --> 00:09:32 We got there at three o'clock, Leonard, in the afternoon.
00:09:33 --> 00:09:40 And Walmart had this procedure, I guess you call it, that you had to go through.
00:09:40 --> 00:09:44 You go around the store, you look at the stuff that you want to purchase.
00:09:44 --> 00:09:50 And then at a certain time which is like i think it was around six o'clock that's
00:09:50 --> 00:09:54 when you can go to the register and buy the items that you wanted to purchase.
00:09:55 --> 00:09:58 You know if they were small items you took them to the register with you if
00:09:58 --> 00:10:03 they were big things like the tvs or whatever you went on to pay for them and
00:10:03 --> 00:10:07 then you had to go to their warehouse which was in the back of the store and
00:10:07 --> 00:10:14 pick up the large items leonard i said after that night I would never do it again.
00:10:15 --> 00:10:22 Man. Is that bad? Yeah, it was bad because we got through the lines,
00:10:22 --> 00:10:24 got everything that paid for.
00:10:25 --> 00:10:29 Then you had to go around the back to get the large items, like I just said.
00:10:29 --> 00:10:32 And there was a line that you had to stand in.
00:10:33 --> 00:10:40 And so you got up to the loading dock where your items were. It was cold.
00:10:40 --> 00:10:45 It was a night. I'll never forget that night. It was like 20-something degrees outside. It was cold.
00:10:46 --> 00:10:50 Stood in this line all this time, man, waiting to get this TV.
00:10:50 --> 00:10:52 And there was a couple other things, larger items.
00:10:53 --> 00:10:56 People arguing in line. People were butting in line. I mean,
00:10:56 --> 00:10:59 it was ridiculous, man. I'll tell you. It was ridiculous.
00:11:00 --> 00:11:03 We didn't leave there until 1130.
00:11:03 --> 00:11:07 Now get to my keep in mind got there at three o'clock i
00:11:07 --> 00:11:10 said never again will i do that i ain't been
00:11:10 --> 00:11:13 back to a black friday sale since you know
00:11:13 --> 00:11:16 so i don't know i don't
00:11:16 --> 00:11:19 know about you and as far as that is concerned
00:11:19 --> 00:11:22 but i know not me yeah i
00:11:22 --> 00:11:25 know some people you know and some people love
00:11:25 --> 00:11:29 that stuff man i i was um living out near
00:11:29 --> 00:11:32 that walmart one black friday
00:11:32 --> 00:11:35 and i just happened to be going by there because i wasn't going
00:11:35 --> 00:11:37 in the store and that was the day that they had
00:11:37 --> 00:11:41 opened the doors and everybody bum rushed the store and they broke the doors
00:11:41 --> 00:11:46 running into the store yeah it was crazy man they had to call the cops and everything
00:11:46 --> 00:11:50 i'm sitting there looking at all these people yeah so you know but they don't
00:11:50 --> 00:11:52 you know now people don't seem
00:11:52 --> 00:11:57 to shop that way anymore because they know they can go online amazon man.
00:11:59 --> 00:12:02 They got everything so on lock right now. I know. They do.
00:12:03 --> 00:12:06 And, you know, even with the Cyber Monday stuff and everything,
00:12:06 --> 00:12:10 you know, you can wait to get your stuff or whatever.
00:12:10 --> 00:12:15 You know, everybody, you know, then you got those shows that have the morning
00:12:15 --> 00:12:20 club saving things that you can, you know, you can go on there and that morning.
00:12:21 --> 00:12:25 What is that morning club? Whatever that thing is. You want to get things at a great deal.
00:12:25 --> 00:12:28 So you know you don't have to go in the
00:12:28 --> 00:12:31 stores anymore it's a whole different world now you know
00:12:31 --> 00:12:34 you know i'll even just add into that you
00:12:34 --> 00:12:38 know david it's crazy that you can order stuff and either get it same day or
00:12:38 --> 00:12:42 or like in the next morning and it's like okay why do i even need to leave the
00:12:42 --> 00:12:46 house yeah you don't have to leave that you don't you really do not have to
00:12:46 --> 00:12:51 leave that i'll tell you the worst have you have you ever fought mall traffic
00:12:51 --> 00:12:54 the day the mall doing the holidays.
00:12:55 --> 00:13:01 I don't go near the place. The day before Christmas, when it's all packed and
00:13:01 --> 00:13:05 cars everywhere and you get there and you can't find what you're looking for,
00:13:05 --> 00:13:07 they don't ran out. Yeah.
00:13:07 --> 00:13:11 Amazon don't do that to you. No, you ordered on Amazon. I mean,
00:13:11 --> 00:13:15 it may be a little delayed, but you know, nine times out of ten, whatever you ordered.
00:13:16 --> 00:13:19 It's still worthwhile. It's still worthwhile not having to go through that because that mall,
00:13:19 --> 00:13:23 San Cristiano, mall traffic, they ain't no joke you
00:13:23 --> 00:13:28 know that just going over there to the mall and you know normally there's a
00:13:28 --> 00:13:32 bunch of young people over there and then nowadays you know they've had a couple
00:13:32 --> 00:13:37 incidents inside the mall during the holidays you know with you know you know
00:13:37 --> 00:13:40 people you know i'm my son was my youngest son was there a few years ago remember
00:13:40 --> 00:13:43 when somebody was shooting inside the mall yeah,
00:13:43 --> 00:13:48 he was there he had everybody left their gifts packages and everything running
00:13:48 --> 00:13:53 out of there yeah he left his package it took him uh it took him a couple days
00:13:53 --> 00:13:54 to get it but he did get him,
00:13:55 --> 00:14:02 but um yeah i'm telling you man no i i just ain't got that kind of patience i am not going,
00:14:02 --> 00:14:08 i am not going into to the christiana mall or any other mall during this time of year.
00:14:09 --> 00:14:12 When i can just go on
00:14:12 --> 00:14:16 my phone or go on my laptop or whatever and buy
00:14:16 --> 00:14:19 whatever i want to buy click click send that's
00:14:19 --> 00:14:23 right that's right yep yep so but
00:14:23 --> 00:14:25 i know people out there you know
00:14:25 --> 00:14:28 still like physically going into places and
00:14:28 --> 00:14:35 whatever and so forth the only store that i probably would go into at this time
00:14:35 --> 00:14:41 and only because they usually have a lot of good deal it's probably bosco they
00:14:41 --> 00:14:46 love some bosco like i'm walking bosco and i just be like i can't do it
00:14:46 --> 00:14:52 No, but I'm just saying if you're buying for other people, you're going to get
00:14:52 --> 00:14:58 a lot of good deals in there, you know, and plus it's not the mall.
00:14:59 --> 00:15:03 That's the reason I go on that. That is true. That is true. And it's close to
00:15:03 --> 00:15:05 the house, right? I ain't got to go that far, you know?
00:15:05 --> 00:15:09 And, you know, so that's why Boscox works for me.
00:15:09 --> 00:15:12 You know, I used to love Burlington, but Burlington, you know,
00:15:12 --> 00:15:14 is not the same that he used to be anymore.
00:15:15 --> 00:15:17 Yeah. And those lines, I don't care if you go to Burlington,
00:15:18 --> 00:15:21 TJ, Max, Marshalls, those lines are like 40D.
00:15:21 --> 00:15:26 That's why I go on Boscox because you don't have the line. Dave,
00:15:26 --> 00:15:32 as soon as I walked into Burlington, I tell my kids to go stand in line. Go stand in line. Yeah.
00:15:32 --> 00:15:37 As soon as we walk on the door, because I already know that line is going to be off the chain.
00:15:37 --> 00:15:41 It's slow. They only got two cashiers. Two or three people, and then half of
00:15:41 --> 00:15:44 them don't act like they know what they do because they're just there for the season.
00:15:45 --> 00:15:51 And then the other half is taking years trying to process one or two returns. Yeah.
00:15:51 --> 00:15:55 You're just sitting there waiting. Yeah, I know. And like I said,
00:15:55 --> 00:15:59 when Bosco, I mean, when Bronson was, you know, 10 years ago,
00:15:59 --> 00:16:00 Bronson was the store, man.
00:16:01 --> 00:16:08 I used to love Bronson, but, and, you know, now they've turned into a little glossier Orman Mills.
00:16:09 --> 00:16:15 You know, that's what I call it. So, you know, but just curious as to how many
00:16:15 --> 00:16:17 people are still dealing with the Black Friday stuff.
00:16:17 --> 00:16:21 And, you know, let us know what you think about that. And give us your feedback
00:16:21 --> 00:16:26 on Black Friday or your Black Friday shopper, in-store shopper,
00:16:26 --> 00:16:28 or do you do everything online?
00:16:28 --> 00:16:36 You know, drop it on our Facebook page or you can drop it on our newsandtrends.com page or Apple.
00:16:36 --> 00:16:41 You can go on our Apple podcast and drop a note. We're just curious to see what
00:16:41 --> 00:16:44 people are doing right now. Okay. All right.
00:16:44 --> 00:16:49 Let's move on to our next story. Yep. So, Dave, and this is not so much a story,
00:16:49 --> 00:16:50 but this is more of an observation.
00:16:51 --> 00:16:56 I think either last night or two nights ago, I was up in the middle of the night, couldn't sleep.
00:16:56 --> 00:17:00 And I went down like a tick tock Instagram rabbit hole.
00:17:01 --> 00:17:05 And, you know, I really think it's kind of weird. And Dave, I'm sure you've seen some of these.
00:17:05 --> 00:17:09 Have you seen all these little Internet pranks that are going around?
00:17:10 --> 00:17:13 And I mean, you know, at first I used to think some of them were funny.
00:17:13 --> 00:17:19 But now to be honest to be honest it is kind of dumb to me so for instance have
00:17:19 --> 00:17:23 you seen the people who walk down the grocery aisles and as somebody's grabbing
00:17:23 --> 00:17:31 some toilet tissue the guy will say I bet that thing is soft and then they turn
00:17:31 --> 00:17:32 around he's like no I'm on the phone.
00:17:34 --> 00:17:41 Or the ones where there'll be a guy or girl coming going up an escalator and
00:17:41 --> 00:17:48 there'll be a couple coming down and the girl guy will say something or she'll touch,
00:17:49 --> 00:17:52 or you know and Dave I thought this was funny and then I just
00:17:52 --> 00:17:56 thought it was lame but have you seen the one where there being like a Walmart
00:17:56 --> 00:18:00 or Target and a guy will come up to somebody and say hey I bet you can't bob
00:18:00 --> 00:18:05 and weave under my arm oh yeah and people be sitting they have people sitting
00:18:05 --> 00:18:10 there doing that stuff yeah I know $100 you know.
00:18:12 --> 00:18:14 Also the one ones where people are
00:18:14 --> 00:18:17 walking up to people on the street and acting like they're
00:18:17 --> 00:18:20 like gangbangers like hey what you looking at you're
00:18:20 --> 00:18:23 on my turf get out of here or you know walking
00:18:23 --> 00:18:26 up to random people you know kind of
00:18:26 --> 00:18:29 being like a thug and you know they i feel like
00:18:29 --> 00:18:33 it's getting out of hand because all these people are doing stuff for the social
00:18:33 --> 00:18:36 media attention and you know i i do i mean at first i thought it was kind of
00:18:36 --> 00:18:41 funny but now when i see these videos they're really just kind of lame to me
00:18:41 --> 00:18:47 and you know i mean of course i know some of them may be funny and all that,
00:18:47 --> 00:18:51 but i feel like the attention
00:18:51 --> 00:18:54 people are trying to look to get from social media
00:18:54 --> 00:18:57 and you know we talked about men trying to get attention from
00:18:57 --> 00:19:00 women and definitely women trying to get attention from men
00:19:00 --> 00:19:03 but now there's people who are pranking people
00:19:03 --> 00:19:07 sometimes putting themselves in dangerous situations
00:19:07 --> 00:19:09 just to get laughs or
00:19:09 --> 00:19:12 something like that i don't know did you see the guy
00:19:12 --> 00:19:16 who was in one of the asian countries and
00:19:16 --> 00:19:19 he was a youtuber and he did something
00:19:19 --> 00:19:22 with one of the statues and now he's facing like
00:19:22 --> 00:19:27 20 years in jail and now he's saying i'm sorry so i think yeah i think he took
00:19:27 --> 00:19:34 some type of picture and i'm going to try to look at it as as we come up but
00:19:34 --> 00:19:36 you know i mean to be honest i just i just feel like they're kind of getting
00:19:36 --> 00:19:39 out of hand in fact here it is right here dave.
00:19:40 --> 00:19:45 Okay no it's not but uh couldn't
00:19:45 --> 00:19:48 find us okay but you know what what are your
00:19:48 --> 00:19:51 thoughts on it because you know i think people first thought they
00:19:51 --> 00:19:54 were funny but to me like i i don't know
00:19:54 --> 00:19:57 if i even laugh or think they're funny anymore when i
00:19:57 --> 00:20:00 first saw them i was saying is this real or is
00:20:00 --> 00:20:03 this somebody just excuse me
00:20:03 --> 00:20:07 sorry about that somebody just messing messing.
00:20:07 --> 00:20:10 With us or whatever the case may be then i
00:20:10 --> 00:20:13 started seeing you know a bunch of them you know i
00:20:13 --> 00:20:16 know there's one with on the escalator where there's
00:20:16 --> 00:20:19 these two twin girls and they got everybody freaked out because
00:20:19 --> 00:20:22 you'll see one going down the escalator the other
00:20:22 --> 00:20:24 one going up and everybody be looking around saying well i was just
00:20:24 --> 00:20:27 a desire you know and so and you
00:20:27 --> 00:20:30 know they're cute at first or whatever but then what makes me wonder
00:20:30 --> 00:20:33 about those type of things is uh what happens
00:20:33 --> 00:20:37 when the camera goes off yeah because i'm.
00:20:37 --> 00:20:40 Sure it might be unless everybody is in
00:20:40 --> 00:20:43 on it somebody's not gonna laugh yeah
00:20:43 --> 00:20:47 i agree yeah and it's just like you know the internet
00:20:47 --> 00:20:50 is so crazy right now it's just like you know
00:20:50 --> 00:20:52 and this is not so much a prank
00:20:52 --> 00:20:55 or whatever but like i always
00:20:55 --> 00:20:58 wonder when you see the people break out in the dance
00:20:58 --> 00:21:01 or song on the street and you watch the
00:21:01 --> 00:21:04 background and nobody needs to pay attention to them and
00:21:04 --> 00:21:07 you'll be saying to yourself okay why isn't anybody
00:21:07 --> 00:21:10 paying attention if i see somebody dancing or
00:21:10 --> 00:21:13 or singing and just you know like in
00:21:13 --> 00:21:18 a broadway show or something i'll be like okay i'm
00:21:18 --> 00:21:20 going to pay attention or i'm going to say to myself why are they
00:21:20 --> 00:21:23 doing that but you ever notice how people just kind
00:21:23 --> 00:21:27 of yeah don't pay attention then there's
00:21:27 --> 00:21:29 the guy then there's the guy the black guy you ever see
00:21:29 --> 00:21:32 the black guy that's always in the walmart dancing all the
00:21:32 --> 00:21:35 time yeah that's crazy yeah now
00:21:35 --> 00:21:38 he'll get like he'll be getting and he'd be dancing i
00:21:38 --> 00:21:43 mean he ain't you know he goes through the store store skimping and all types
00:21:43 --> 00:21:47 of things you'll see a couple people didn't join in with him and start dancing
00:21:47 --> 00:21:52 but you would think a lot of people would pay attention to that i just think
00:21:52 --> 00:21:57 that people are just so immune to a lot of stuff that's going on on the internet right now.
00:21:59 --> 00:22:07 These pranks i'm sure they're a lot more involved than we see because otherwise
00:22:07 --> 00:22:12 yeah you go touch somebody else's man or somebody else's woman talking about
00:22:12 --> 00:22:15 oh you're really cute not many,
00:22:15 --> 00:22:20 you know not many people gonna react yeah they ain't all gonna be happy about
00:22:20 --> 00:22:25 that yeah they're not gonna be happy about it so so i don't know i think these
00:22:25 --> 00:22:29 people are taking their own lives and risks, but I mean, some of them, you know,
00:22:29 --> 00:22:35 they think it's funny, and it's usually a bunch of young people anyway.
00:22:35 --> 00:22:39 Young people think they run the world, and they think they rule everything. Right.
00:22:40 --> 00:22:44 So, not to associate at all young people, but I'm just saying,
00:22:44 --> 00:22:46 it's just a different world that we're in.
00:22:46 --> 00:22:49 I mean, it really is. Yeah, I mean, definitely.
00:22:49 --> 00:22:53 And I feel like now, well, just period, more often, we're going to see people,
00:22:53 --> 00:22:54 you know, consequences.
00:22:55 --> 00:23:00 So, I did find the story that I was talking about earlier, It was a YouTuber, an American YouTuber.
00:23:01 --> 00:23:08 He was in Korea and he, it says he desecrated, which I think he just took a, you know,
00:23:08 --> 00:23:15 a weird type of picture or an inappropriate picture at a statue for the memorial
00:23:15 --> 00:23:21 of women who were like sexually abused or sexual survivors.
00:23:21 --> 00:23:26 And he posted it online. So of course, you know, they are gunning for him.
00:23:26 --> 00:23:32 He could be facing anywhere from five to 20 years in prison and they have put
00:23:32 --> 00:23:34 a travel ban on him so he cannot leave the country.
00:23:36 --> 00:23:39 So, you know, it's got to be very interesting. And then, of course,
00:23:39 --> 00:23:42 here it says that after he was, you know,
00:23:43 --> 00:23:49 caught or potentially maybe sentenced, he posted an apology that he was sorry
00:23:49 --> 00:23:57 about desecrating the South Korean monument to women subjected to sexual slavery in World War Two.
00:23:57 --> 00:24:00 So but, you know, of course, it's probably too little too late.
00:24:00 --> 00:24:03 But, you know, I think there's gonna be a lot more of these situations because
00:24:03 --> 00:24:04 people are just doing stuff without thinking.
00:24:05 --> 00:24:08 Yeah. And you can't be over in these other countries. know
00:24:08 --> 00:24:11 especially the the asian culture because they
00:24:11 --> 00:24:14 have a lot they have a lot of you
00:24:14 --> 00:24:17 know history and you know a lot of
00:24:17 --> 00:24:20 a lot of their statues and so forth and their monuments
00:24:20 --> 00:24:24 and so forth really have a lot of spiritual meaning
00:24:24 --> 00:24:29 and depth to them and you just can't be in other countries fooling around with
00:24:29 --> 00:24:34 things that you don't do your research on right and and you know because if
00:24:34 --> 00:24:39 you do your research first about whatever it is that you are thinking about
00:24:39 --> 00:24:42 doing with a particular monument or whatever,
00:24:43 --> 00:24:46 if you do the research first, you'll probably know not to do it.
00:24:46 --> 00:24:48 Exactly. You know, so, you know.
00:24:49 --> 00:24:52 That guy you know he better
00:24:52 --> 00:24:55 he better hope that they had some leniency on you know
00:24:55 --> 00:24:58 but but you know you know what i think we
00:24:58 --> 00:25:00 all need you know need to pay attention you know
00:25:00 --> 00:25:03 we all saw what happened with britney grinder a couple years ago yeah
00:25:03 --> 00:25:06 and and we you know you don't
00:25:06 --> 00:25:09 want to be in one of these foreign countries and not following
00:25:09 --> 00:25:12 their laws or their rules or whatever the
00:25:12 --> 00:25:16 case might be right exactly yeah so
00:25:16 --> 00:25:19 all right well and you
00:25:19 --> 00:25:23 guys doing these internet pranks you know just be careful that's all i got to
00:25:23 --> 00:25:29 say so you know yeah because they dave stays strapped tell them yeah that's
00:25:29 --> 00:25:36 right don't don't try you well i'll smack somebody yeah anyway Anyway.
00:25:37 --> 00:25:43 I came across this story, and I wanted to just, because we've talked about this a couple times.
00:25:43 --> 00:25:48 There's a new thing, Find a Black Doctor online directory.
00:25:49 --> 00:25:53 And it says, now this helps the festivals in all 50 states.
00:25:53 --> 00:26:00 So there's a nationwide thing in a significant step towards reducing health
00:26:00 --> 00:26:07 disparities and improving access to quality health care for Black communities
00:26:07 --> 00:26:09 across the United States.
00:26:09 --> 00:26:16 Find a Black doctor now boasts listening on board certified health professionals in all 50 states.
00:26:16 --> 00:26:23 This expansion ensures that individuals seeking culturally competent care can
00:26:23 --> 00:26:28 easily find experienced and qualified Black doctors, dentists,
00:26:28 --> 00:26:31 psychologists, and other health care providers.
00:26:32 --> 00:26:38 The expansion of the directory comes at a crucial time when health disparities
00:26:38 --> 00:26:41 continue to affect Black communities,
00:26:41 --> 00:26:48 and the platform addresses their critical need by providing a reliable and comprehensive
00:26:48 --> 00:26:54 directory of healthcare professionals who understand and are dedicated to addressing
00:26:54 --> 00:26:57 the unique healthcare needs of Black patients.
00:26:57 --> 00:27:00 Founded with the mission to bridge the gap in healthcare access,
00:27:01 --> 00:27:07 the website offers a user-friendly interface that allows patients to serve for
00:27:07 --> 00:27:11 providers based on their location and specific healthcare needs.
00:27:11 --> 00:27:16 The site includes detailed profiles of physicians, dentists,
00:27:16 --> 00:27:18 psychologists, and other specialists.
00:27:19 --> 00:27:24 Listings are free for the doctors. The site also contains content aimed to increase
00:27:24 --> 00:27:26 health and healthcare literacy.
00:27:27 --> 00:27:34 This is a great thing. I really feel this is something that has been needed.
00:27:34 --> 00:27:38 It was founded by Dina Strachan.
00:27:40 --> 00:27:42 Board-certified dermatologist in New York City.
00:27:43 --> 00:27:50 And, you know, she just felt that, you know, we've had a big disparity as far
00:27:50 --> 00:27:57 as having Black professionals available to us that are health care providers.
00:27:57 --> 00:28:02 We talked about this many times on our show about women, you know,
00:28:02 --> 00:28:07 not being able to get the proper care because of the lack of Black doctors or
00:28:07 --> 00:28:08 knowing where to find them.
00:28:08 --> 00:28:11 Well, this is a great thing because now you
00:28:11 --> 00:28:18 have this find a black doctor site that you can just go on and find the health
00:28:18 --> 00:28:26 care professional that you need in order to be able to do to have the care and
00:28:26 --> 00:28:29 comfortability that you want to have.
00:28:30 --> 00:28:33 Because you know i've heard i you know
00:28:33 --> 00:28:36 i've heard many times that especially when it comes to women
00:28:36 --> 00:28:38 that they just don't feel respected and they don't
00:28:38 --> 00:28:42 feel they get the proper care from a lot of you know
00:28:42 --> 00:28:45 doctors that aren't black because you know
00:28:45 --> 00:28:51 they just look at them as being black women and they don't take the actual care
00:28:51 --> 00:28:58 and and and and professionalism to find out everything that needs to be handled
00:28:58 --> 00:29:02 in their healthcare crises or whatever the situation may be.
00:29:02 --> 00:29:03 And the same thing with men too.
00:29:03 --> 00:29:07 Men have their issues with black doctors, I mean, lack of black doctors as well.
00:29:08 --> 00:29:12 So I just think this is a great thing. I think it's something that's well needed.
00:29:13 --> 00:29:19 And I'm glad that they started something like this to be able to find the healthcare
00:29:19 --> 00:29:20 professionals that you need.
00:29:20 --> 00:29:28 I had, and I'll just tell you for this, like today, I had to call a place to
00:29:28 --> 00:29:34 for a doctor's appointment that I have coming up and I was telling me I needed a referral from my.
00:29:35 --> 00:29:39 From our primary care position. So I've been trying to get this referral for
00:29:39 --> 00:29:42 a month, Leonard. It's been a bunch of back and forth, you know.
00:29:43 --> 00:29:47 So the day they tell me I needed a, I finally, they finally sent a referral over to him.
00:29:47 --> 00:29:51 But the day they told me that was the wrong kind of referral and I need to get another one.
00:29:52 --> 00:29:56 Right. So the lady, the young lady I'm talking to, who was obviously,
00:29:56 --> 00:29:59 you know, she wasn't a black person, put it that way.
00:30:00 --> 00:30:04 I'm talking to her and, you know, I'm like going back and I was like,
00:30:04 --> 00:30:07 well they didn't tell me this before now i gotta spend or
00:30:07 --> 00:30:10 you know a couple weeks in trying to get
00:30:10 --> 00:30:13 this taken care of because unfortunately these
00:30:13 --> 00:30:18 referrals take a while to get so you know she's like yeah you need it that's
00:30:18 --> 00:30:24 what you need and then she said thank you for calling bye-bye i was like what
00:30:24 --> 00:30:30 did you just hang up right i was pissed man you know and i was just like wait
00:30:30 --> 00:30:32 hold on is Is that how you treat people?
00:30:34 --> 00:30:41 Yeah. She, she said she was done. Yeah. And, but I only asked her a couple of questions.
00:30:41 --> 00:30:44 That's all I asked her, but she was ready to get off the phone.
00:30:45 --> 00:30:46 There was a couple too many.
00:30:47 --> 00:30:50 I called right back. I was hoping to get her, but I did.
00:30:51 --> 00:30:54 But, and I ended up talking to somebody else and I said, you know,
00:30:55 --> 00:30:59 you need your, you know, I didn't have a problem with the other lady, but you know, I said,
00:30:59 --> 00:31:02 this, you need to teach this that i
00:31:02 --> 00:31:05 gave her name i said you need to teach her some manners because
00:31:05 --> 00:31:08 she was very ignorant and you know
00:31:08 --> 00:31:11 she just wanted to get off the phone and i was
00:31:11 --> 00:31:14 still talking you know she said well you
00:31:14 --> 00:31:17 know and the lady was like well you know some people
00:31:17 --> 00:31:21 only around to get a check that's what she said to me i wonder
00:31:21 --> 00:31:24 i wonder if she knew who you were talking about or it wasn't
00:31:24 --> 00:31:27 uh i said i gave her i gave her
00:31:27 --> 00:31:30 name she knew okay oh yeah i made sure i
00:31:30 --> 00:31:33 wrote down the name of the person when she when
00:31:33 --> 00:31:38 she introduced herself and i said well you know and she said yeah we've had
00:31:38 --> 00:31:42 a few complaints about her oh damn okay i said well y'all shouldn't be having
00:31:42 --> 00:31:47 her answer all right well dave you just got her fired and there it is no i didn't
00:31:47 --> 00:31:50 get her fired i'm sure you know, we would get fired.
00:31:51 --> 00:31:55 Anyway, that's a whole other story. But anyway, this is a great thing to have, folks.
00:31:55 --> 00:32:00 And I hope people who are listening will take advantage and check this site
00:32:00 --> 00:32:03 out just to see if they can, if they are looking to change.
00:32:05 --> 00:32:10 The doctor or physician or psychologist or whatever and check,
00:32:10 --> 00:32:14 get the site a chance to see, you know, who's in your area.
00:32:14 --> 00:32:18 You know, like I said, all 50 States, that's, that's real good.
00:32:18 --> 00:32:22 You know, they're not talking about, you know, only having a few States involved.
00:32:22 --> 00:32:27 They say they have listings in all 50. So that's, that's a great thing to have.
00:32:27 --> 00:32:29 Would you take advantage of something like this?
00:32:30 --> 00:32:34 Yeah, I think so. If I remembered, you know, I won't probably need to see the ramp.
00:32:34 --> 00:32:38 I will say I just looked. I did not see our state listed with any of them.
00:32:39 --> 00:32:43 Yeah, I just looked now. Oh, they don't think Delaware is a state?
00:32:44 --> 00:32:48 I don't know. Do they have a bunch of states listed?
00:32:48 --> 00:32:51 I didn't look. I did Delaware and they kind of told you what's closest by,
00:32:52 --> 00:32:53 so then it started going to Maryland.
00:32:54 --> 00:32:58 I'm surprised Philadelphia didn't come up because Philadelphia is just as close as D.C.
00:32:59 --> 00:33:02 If not closer. Or do you have to put in by state?
00:33:03 --> 00:33:08 Well, I put in zip code and then a 25-mile radius.
00:33:09 --> 00:33:14 So I'm not exactly sure why DC came up with that, but I mean, it did.
00:33:15 --> 00:33:20 It must be a West Coast site. They don't understand the distance. Okay.
00:33:20 --> 00:33:24 Well, I'm going to fool around with it myself and see, you know,
00:33:24 --> 00:33:30 maybe there are different search engines that you have to use in order to pull up everything.
00:33:31 --> 00:33:36 But it's still a good thing to have, and hopefully they'll keep developing it
00:33:36 --> 00:33:39 and expanding with that. All right?
00:33:40 --> 00:33:44 Okay, so moving on to our next story.
00:33:44 --> 00:33:47 So I wanted to test you.
00:33:49 --> 00:33:53 On this to see what you have to say well not a real test but i just wanted to
00:33:53 --> 00:34:01 get what your opinion was this your top 10 favorite food since we just had thanksgiving last week,
00:34:01 --> 00:34:04 i'm just curious to see what you say in
00:34:04 --> 00:34:07 reference to this poll that was taken it said food is
00:34:07 --> 00:34:10 one of the best things in life it makes us happy and healthy
00:34:10 --> 00:34:13 the food in this list are not just delicious they
00:34:13 --> 00:34:16 are also diverse they come
00:34:16 --> 00:34:20 from different cultures and regions and they have different tastes
00:34:20 --> 00:34:24 and textures when you like it hot or
00:34:24 --> 00:34:36 cold sweet sorry wheat or salty meaty or veggie these foods will satisfy your
00:34:36 --> 00:34:41 cravings there are foods that will make your mouth water and your stomach small.
00:34:42 --> 00:34:47 So I actually did the top 20. Okay.
00:34:48 --> 00:34:52 So did we go from 1 to 20 or 20 to 1?
00:34:53 --> 00:35:00 Go 20 to 1. Okay. Alright. So number 20 is simply cookies.
00:35:01 --> 00:35:06 That's when they just have cookies. So as a favorite dessert type thing.
00:35:06 --> 00:35:10 Number 19, lasagna
00:35:10 --> 00:35:14 are you a lasagna fan i do it i don't know if it'd be my top favorite but i
00:35:14 --> 00:35:20 am a lasagna fan so it wouldn't be in your top 20 i don't think so okay all
00:35:20 --> 00:35:28 right number 18 brownies okay brownies yes i will tear some brownies especially they have walnuts.
00:35:29 --> 00:35:34 And i only prefer them if they have nuts in them that's that's yeah so number
00:35:34 --> 00:35:38 17 an old-fashioned bacon cheeseburger.
00:35:39 --> 00:35:42 Oh, I thought these were... Okay. For some reason, I'm thinking Thanksgiving
00:35:42 --> 00:35:46 food. No, no, no. This is just food period. Yeah.
00:35:47 --> 00:35:52 Are you a bacon cheeseburger guy? I guess I'll say no because I never get the...
00:35:52 --> 00:35:55 I mean, I'll eat one but I don't ever order it.
00:35:55 --> 00:35:59 So I guess I'll say no. You don't order a burger with bacon on it?
00:35:59 --> 00:36:01 Not really. No. Okay.
00:36:02 --> 00:36:07 Even Wendy's, when they have those bacon cheeseburgers, you don't get them with
00:36:07 --> 00:36:09 bacon. Not unless they're on the value meal.
00:36:11 --> 00:36:16 I mean, if they're on the value menu, I'm ordering whatever it comes to that
00:36:16 --> 00:36:21 five for five, four for four, whatever it is. Okay, I get it. I get it.
00:36:22 --> 00:36:28 Number 16. I think this is kind of low for number 16. Chicken wings.
00:36:28 --> 00:36:35 Don't you think that's kind of low? I don't know. I haven't seen the whole list, so I'm not sure.
00:36:35 --> 00:36:39 Chicken wings seems to be a favorite of most people. i would think it would
00:36:39 --> 00:36:41 be in the top 10 but they got it at 16.
00:36:42 --> 00:36:45 But but think about it when was the last time you ordered chicken wings somewhere
00:36:45 --> 00:36:52 uh about a couple weeks ago okay yeah i mean there it is yeah i mean i like
00:36:52 --> 00:36:57 chicken wings so you know um i thought this would be higher too because this
00:36:57 --> 00:37:03 is one of my absolute favorite things to eat spaghetti with meatballs you said spaghetti.
00:37:04 --> 00:37:07 Yeah no no so i am
00:37:07 --> 00:37:10 but you know like i don't like restaurant spaghetti
00:37:10 --> 00:37:13 but like the spaghetti no no the home yeah they don't yeah
00:37:13 --> 00:37:16 it's a big difference between your homemade because they
00:37:16 --> 00:37:19 don't know they don't cook the way we do you know our spaghetti our
00:37:19 --> 00:37:22 spaghetti is on point man you know so you know
00:37:22 --> 00:37:25 whether you make it with the sauce some people like
00:37:25 --> 00:37:28 to mix their sauce in whatever way you eat it it's always
00:37:28 --> 00:37:31 gonna taste better than the stores you know
00:37:31 --> 00:37:38 the restaurant so okay number 14 simply an apple okay that's definitely not
00:37:38 --> 00:37:43 a favorite i'm not i'm not an apple here i mean i mean i eat apple pie but i
00:37:43 --> 00:37:50 don't eat apples yeah i mean dave i like apples they're great but no way that'd be in my top 20.
00:37:52 --> 00:37:58 All right 13 cakes man you're not a cake birthday okay you're not a cake birthday
00:37:58 --> 00:38:04 but i mean definitely not top not top 20 okay number 12 just a plain cheeseburger,
00:38:05 --> 00:38:09 i mean cheeseburger bacon cheeseburgers all the same it's all the same okay
00:38:09 --> 00:38:16 i don't i wouldn't eat the bacon cheeseburger but i would eat a cheeseburger so number 11 sushi,
00:38:17 --> 00:38:20 be quiet on that one yeah i mean i i don't know
00:38:20 --> 00:38:23 if it's a top 20 though especially not for
00:38:23 --> 00:38:29 me i know it ain't for me because i don't eat sushi well no
00:38:29 --> 00:38:34 because it's because i know you know i look at the ingredients and whatever
00:38:34 --> 00:38:39 just stuff i don't eat you know what i mean like what like i don't i'm not eating
00:38:39 --> 00:38:44 shrimp not eating you're not shrimp no shrimp i don't eat shrimp no okay didn't
00:38:44 --> 00:38:49 know that yeah yeah there's a lot of stuff that sushi has in it that i don't eat so,
00:38:50 --> 00:38:53 but i know you're a sushi eater so you know
00:38:53 --> 00:39:00 so number 10 and of course this is in the top 10 macaroni and cheese yeah i
00:39:00 --> 00:39:06 i can definitely go for that top 10 so i'm more of a meat eater so you know
00:39:06 --> 00:39:11 my top 10 would probably be dishes that are like meatier so i mean there's some meat.
00:39:13 --> 00:39:17 I would probably put spaghetti. I mean, like homemade spaghetti.
00:39:17 --> 00:39:19 Yeah, I'd probably put that in the top 10.
00:39:19 --> 00:39:23 Okay, over in the mac and cheese. So you would replace the mac and cheese? Okay.
00:39:24 --> 00:39:31 I'm a popular person anyway. So, you know, either one is fine. So number nine, tacos.
00:39:32 --> 00:39:37 I can see it. Okay. All right. What about you for tacos?
00:39:38 --> 00:39:43 Yeah, but they got to be made a third way. Do you like Taco Bell tacos or like
00:39:43 --> 00:39:48 those authentic Mexican food truck tacos?
00:39:48 --> 00:39:55 I think I prefer a food truck taco over Taco Bell. That meat doesn't suspect. Oh, yeah.
00:39:58 --> 00:40:02 I'll go to Southwest Moves. I like their tacos. Oh, you know,
00:40:02 --> 00:40:04 I've never had tacos from there. I normally just get the bowl.
00:40:05 --> 00:40:08 Okay. Yeah, they do a good taco. Yeah, they do.
00:40:08 --> 00:40:12 Good to know. Yeah. Number eight, bacon.
00:40:14 --> 00:40:18 I don't eat pork, so. Yeah, I mean. Turkey bacon. Turkey bacon,
00:40:18 --> 00:40:20 I can go with. I like bacon for breakfast, but I'm not.
00:40:22 --> 00:40:29 Some of my kids are bacon fiends. That is not me. You know, like, I can miss it.
00:40:30 --> 00:40:36 Okay. Number seven, french fries. Oh, I'm sorry. Number seven, steak. Okay.
00:40:37 --> 00:40:40 I definitely see that in the top ten. I'm not a huge steak eater,
00:40:40 --> 00:40:41 but every once in a while.
00:40:42 --> 00:40:46 Yeah. In fact, Dave, while we think about it, tonight might be one of them wiles.
00:40:47 --> 00:40:52 Really? Yeah. You going to have steak tonight? Maybe. Have my head over Applebee's
00:40:52 --> 00:40:54 and get one of them little steak specials.
00:40:55 --> 00:40:59 Yeah. Do they make a good steak? I mean, good enough. You know,
00:40:59 --> 00:41:01 I'm not no connoisseur at it.
00:41:01 --> 00:41:06 Okay. All right. Very good. As long as it's not crispy or bleeding somewhere
00:41:06 --> 00:41:07 in the middle, I might be okay.
00:41:08 --> 00:41:11 Yeah. And there's too many rules for steaks for me, man. And,
00:41:11 --> 00:41:13 you know, well, you got to have it cooked this way.
00:41:14 --> 00:41:17 You don't want it too well done because you don't get the juices.
00:41:17 --> 00:41:21 And everybody, you know, I hear so much noise about the way you prepare it.
00:41:23 --> 00:41:26 Well, now, David, the one thing I will say that I heard and,
00:41:26 --> 00:41:28 you know, I believe to be true.
00:41:28 --> 00:41:31 They, because, you know, back in the day as a kid, you know,
00:41:31 --> 00:41:33 you get steak, you're asking for the A1 or ketchup.
00:41:34 --> 00:41:39 And they were saying that, you know, steak is best eaten as it is cooked.
00:41:39 --> 00:41:45 And I will say now I don't put anything on my steak I just eat it now is there
00:41:45 --> 00:41:50 some mushrooms or some fried onions yeah I may do that but like I don't do the
00:41:50 --> 00:41:55 A1 or the barbecue sauce or the ketchup or anything like that oh okay.
00:41:56 --> 00:41:58 Well what if it's not seasoned that well,
00:42:00 --> 00:42:04 I don't know. I'm not a salt and pepper person either.
00:42:04 --> 00:42:10 I read somewhere that said the more you have salt, the more you get addicted to it.
00:42:11 --> 00:42:14 They were saying that a lot of people, and I've noticed this recently,
00:42:15 --> 00:42:17 a lot of people don't even taste their food.
00:42:17 --> 00:42:21 Their food will come out and they just automatically start putting salt on.
00:42:22 --> 00:42:25 I kind of chuckled to myself. I'm like, well,
00:42:25 --> 00:42:28 you haven't even taste like it it may already be salty and you're
00:42:28 --> 00:42:30 making it saltier i i i used
00:42:30 --> 00:42:33 to do that all the time back in years ago but i
00:42:33 --> 00:42:36 don't do it anymore now i will reach for pepper i like
00:42:36 --> 00:42:39 pepper on myself but i don't reach for the fall you know
00:42:39 --> 00:42:45 so number six was french fries i mean i could definitely take a lead french
00:42:45 --> 00:42:51 fries because i'm not a potato person like that what about you dave I like french
00:42:51 --> 00:42:55 fries yeah good you know I'm good with french fries french fries is a classic
00:42:55 --> 00:42:58 you know that's something that especially if they're good,
00:42:59 --> 00:43:04 you know I've gone to five guys and just got the fries oh really oh wow,
00:43:05 --> 00:43:08 throw them in the bag all loose and greasy yeah but their fries,
00:43:09 --> 00:43:16 but their fries are good though now what I will put on my top ten list Burger
00:43:16 --> 00:43:20 King's onion rings now I will tear some onion rings Yeah, I get those.
00:43:21 --> 00:43:24 Well, the first time I ever had onion rings in my life. No, not the first time.
00:43:25 --> 00:43:28 I think the first onion rings I ever had was from Jack in the Box,
00:43:28 --> 00:43:30 when Jack in the Box used to be here in Delaware.
00:43:31 --> 00:43:36 But then second was Burger King. You know, Burger King. And I remember eating Burger King.
00:43:37 --> 00:43:41 Look, we ate so much Burger King food when I was at the University of Delaware.
00:43:42 --> 00:43:45 That they closed that Burger King down.
00:43:45 --> 00:43:49 We were in there every day, man. I didn't eat Burger King for 20 years after that,
00:43:49 --> 00:43:52 man, because i eat so much burger king you know but it
00:43:52 --> 00:43:55 was always onion rings you know i always got the onion rings instead
00:43:55 --> 00:43:57 of the fries so you know so well in that case
00:43:57 --> 00:44:01 did did you close that burger king down at uh concord
00:44:01 --> 00:44:03 mall oh no i had nothing to do
00:44:03 --> 00:44:06 with that even though i used to go in used to
00:44:06 --> 00:44:09 go in there though well no the reason why i say it
00:44:09 --> 00:44:12 i think it was last year they had
00:44:12 --> 00:44:15 covered up the burger king restaurant yeah another sign yeah
00:44:15 --> 00:44:20 yeah well no no no i i think it was a whole restaurant so when they took me
00:44:20 --> 00:44:26 on that wall it was like classic 1980 burger king in there you know i mean like
00:44:26 --> 00:44:30 yeah i know they talked about the sign because they showed the original sign
00:44:30 --> 00:44:35 that was up there and everything i remember that story yeah yeah i remember that yeah yeah,
00:44:36 --> 00:44:41 yeah i used to go take my kids in there i remember that that one yeah because
00:44:41 --> 00:44:42 i lived up in that area at that time.
00:44:44 --> 00:44:45 Number five, shrimp.
00:44:46 --> 00:44:53 Definitely not on my top 10 or 20. I mean, I like it, but it's not top tier.
00:44:54 --> 00:44:57 Okay. Number four, chocolate.
00:44:58 --> 00:45:01 Not on mine. No, I'm not a big chocolate person.
00:45:01 --> 00:45:05 I mean, a candy bar every now and then, but I mean, you know,
00:45:05 --> 00:45:07 but like I don't eat chocolate cake.
00:45:07 --> 00:45:11 You know, I'll eat a brownie if it has the walnuts.
00:45:12 --> 00:45:16 But other than that, I'm not big on just chocolate. I don't eat chocolate ice
00:45:16 --> 00:45:18 cream. None of that kind of stuff.
00:45:19 --> 00:45:24 Number three. Now, we're going to get to the top three. I'm going to see if
00:45:24 --> 00:45:26 you can guess the top three.
00:45:27 --> 00:45:31 Number three, what do you think that would be that you haven't heard yet?
00:45:32 --> 00:45:39 Maybe pizza, fried chicken, and maybe hot dogs? I'm not sure.
00:45:39 --> 00:45:45 All right. Well, you actually have one. You do have number three in your little brand.
00:45:45 --> 00:45:50 Which one do you think it is? Probably pizza. Nope. No? Oh.
00:45:52 --> 00:45:53 What else did I say? Fried chicken.
00:45:55 --> 00:46:00 So pizza was not in the top 20? I just knew pizza. I'm on number three,
00:46:00 --> 00:46:01 man. Come on. Let me talk.
00:46:02 --> 00:46:06 I'm on number three. I asked you about number three. You trying to jump ahead
00:46:06 --> 00:46:11 or you trying to make up your own list? You said only one of my things was in the top three.
00:46:11 --> 00:46:18 No. I said only one of them was number three oh okay gotcha gotcha gotcha okay go ahead yeah,
00:46:20 --> 00:46:26 black people man you can't get them to listen to you you know anyway number
00:46:26 --> 00:46:30 two you probably won't get this one but,
00:46:32 --> 00:46:39 no you ain't gonna get this ice cream is number two oh I never would have thought
00:46:39 --> 00:46:41 about it yeah ice cream is number two,
00:46:42 --> 00:46:47 So that leaves number one and number one is pizza.
00:46:48 --> 00:46:49 Yep. That's number one.
00:46:50 --> 00:46:54 Number one is pizza. That is the number one favorite food.
00:46:55 --> 00:47:01 And I can see why. I mean, just like you had a fit just then that it wasn't
00:47:01 --> 00:47:06 in the top three, you know, so pizza is universal.
00:47:07 --> 00:47:11 It is that go-to meal. It's quick.
00:47:12 --> 00:47:17 You know, you know, whether you use the frozen pizzas at home or you go to pick
00:47:17 --> 00:47:22 up a slice, as they used to say back in the day, you know, pizza is always going
00:47:22 --> 00:47:25 to be around, you know, and people love pizza.
00:47:26 --> 00:47:32 So I can see that being number one. I have no problem with that being the number one thing.
00:47:32 --> 00:47:37 Yeah, I agree. And, you know, it just made me think the last two weeks. Well, actually.
00:47:38 --> 00:47:43 Two weeks ago, we were working late here at the campground. We were trying to get something to eat.
00:47:43 --> 00:47:46 Domino's was the only thing open. Shout out to Domino's. Dave.
00:47:48 --> 00:47:52 I ordered that Meatsa pizza, which is like the Meats pizza.
00:47:52 --> 00:47:57 It was like a Meatslubbers pizza. Oh, my goodness. When that thing was hot, oh, my goodness.
00:47:58 --> 00:48:02 I literally had five or six slices of it. And I even turned around the very next week.
00:48:02 --> 00:48:06 I ordered it again. This time, I was like, do you have an extra large?
00:48:06 --> 00:48:09 Because last time, I got a large. that i know we don't have extra large but
00:48:09 --> 00:48:14 yes and well you know i think pizza is so versatile because it you know some
00:48:14 --> 00:48:17 people love cheese pizza some people love pepperoni some people love pepperoni
00:48:17 --> 00:48:22 sausage some people love you know i mean it's so many different variations of pizza,
00:48:23 --> 00:48:30 yeah yeah because i you know i like i usually like to get like i get the pineapple and chicken,
00:48:31 --> 00:48:35 on my oh okay i don't do that i mean
00:48:35 --> 00:48:39 i've had it but that's that's not for pizza
00:48:39 --> 00:48:42 combinations yeah well i
00:48:42 --> 00:48:45 do miss the the the i don't eat pepperoni unless
00:48:45 --> 00:48:48 it's turkey pepperoni i don't eat the sauces
00:48:48 --> 00:48:53 unless it's you know something now now if they have i'll do i'm not much on
00:48:53 --> 00:48:58 a on red meat but if they have like ground beef or something i i will do that
00:48:58 --> 00:49:05 as a substitute you know so but not that often but i mean but a regular cheese
00:49:05 --> 00:49:08 pizza places like Domino's, you mentioned Domino's,
00:49:08 --> 00:49:10 shout out to Domino's as you said.
00:49:11 --> 00:49:15 Domino's is going to be around forever. You know, I mean, you know,
00:49:15 --> 00:49:20 places like them, Papa John's, Little Caesars, you would thought that Little
00:49:20 --> 00:49:22 Caesars would have been out of business by now.
00:49:22 --> 00:49:29 But no, I mean, people still go to Little Caesars, pick up that $6 pizza and keep it moving.
00:49:30 --> 00:49:34 You know, so pizza is always going to be around.
00:49:35 --> 00:49:37 It's always been, it's The college
00:49:37 --> 00:49:41 students' favorite food that you eat at through college? Of course.
00:49:42 --> 00:49:44 Yeah. I know. That's what we ate.
00:49:45 --> 00:49:49 We ate Burger King and pizza. That's what we ate. You know.
00:49:50 --> 00:49:53 So, yeah. So, you can't go wrong with pizza.
00:49:53 --> 00:49:59 So, if anything on this list of 20 was in the right place, that number one spot
00:49:59 --> 00:50:02 is definitely pizza. Yeah. I agree.
00:50:02 --> 00:50:07 Let me ask this. Is there anything that you expected to be in the top 20 that you did not see?
00:50:08 --> 00:50:11 You know what? That's a good question. Let me think right quick.
00:50:12 --> 00:50:20 No fish. And I'm surprised no hot dogs. You know, I would have thought hot dogs. Yeah, hot dogs.
00:50:20 --> 00:50:23 But not any type of fish in here. Right.
00:50:24 --> 00:50:28 With a shake or something like that.
00:50:28 --> 00:50:33 Milkshake? Yeah. I'm not a milkshake person but I mean people do love those
00:50:33 --> 00:50:38 you know anything you think of no I mean hot dogs.
00:50:39 --> 00:50:42 Trying to really uh you know i'm actually surprised
00:50:42 --> 00:50:46 some of the snack food like potato chips yeah chips
00:50:46 --> 00:50:49 yeah something like that yeah that's a
00:50:49 --> 00:50:54 good one right there chips is not in there in fact i'm sorry who did this who
00:50:54 --> 00:51:01 did this compilation of you got the link i thought to you all right yeah look
00:51:01 --> 00:51:06 at it real quick yeah because they listed a lot more food than the top 20 but
00:51:06 --> 00:51:07 i just went with the top 20.
00:51:08 --> 00:51:11 This was on a website called the top tens
00:51:11 --> 00:51:14 dot so yeah i'm sure they probably just were
00:51:14 --> 00:51:18 oh dang so i i should have cheated on here that's
00:51:18 --> 00:51:21 why i didn't tell you that's why i didn't say anything so i know you would have
00:51:21 --> 00:51:30 looked so but well dave just for honorable mention 21 burrito 22 pancakes 23
00:51:30 --> 00:51:35 cheese cake 24 chicken nugget 25 hot dogs okay so hot dog up to 25.
00:51:36 --> 00:51:40 And no sausage on there either, right? Or with sausage. Do you see that on there anywhere?
00:51:40 --> 00:51:45 Probably not. Oh, you know, in fact, the list stuff said load more.
00:51:46 --> 00:51:51 26 ramen, 27 bananas. I'm actually surprised about bananas because I never hear
00:51:51 --> 00:51:53 anybody say bananas is their favorite fruit.
00:51:53 --> 00:51:57 28 baked potato, 29 bagel, 30 donuts.
00:51:58 --> 00:52:04 Wow, donuts are way down there. That's surprising because people love donuts.
00:52:05 --> 00:52:11 So, yeah, yeah, well, I mean, there's a variety of food out there,
00:52:11 --> 00:52:14 you know, and people have their favorites. Coffee wasn't on there either.
00:52:14 --> 00:52:19 Not in the top 30. No, but I mean, but I wouldn't consider that.
00:52:19 --> 00:52:24 It's not really a food, but I'm just saying, you know, I'm just saying, you know. Right.
00:52:24 --> 00:52:28 The way that most people handle coffee, you would think it was a food because
00:52:28 --> 00:52:30 they can't get through the, you know.
00:52:31 --> 00:52:35 Wow. Okay. All right. what was ships.
00:52:36 --> 00:52:38 No, I don't think Chip was on. Did I say Chip? It's not on there?
00:52:38 --> 00:52:44 No. It wasn't in the top 30. Wow. Okay. And it looks like the list kind of stopped.
00:52:44 --> 00:52:48 Oh, I'm sorry. I guess it didn't stop. 31, ribs.
00:52:48 --> 00:52:53 32, spaghetti. I thought spaghetti was... Spaghetti was higher. Yeah. Okay.
00:52:54 --> 00:52:57 Maybe that's plain spaghetti. Maybe.
00:52:58 --> 00:53:02 Waffles, 33. Noodles, 34. Bacon and eggs, 35.
00:53:03 --> 00:53:06 Hot wings, 36. Chicken. and
00:53:06 --> 00:53:10 they just have a picture of a whole chicken oh they
00:53:10 --> 00:53:13 got chocolate chip cookies apple pie okay let
00:53:13 --> 00:53:15 me just oh potato chips 42 there it
00:53:15 --> 00:53:18 is wow that's way down there
00:53:18 --> 00:53:25 yep and i'm a chip person i love to are you yeah i'm not a chip person but don't
00:53:25 --> 00:53:30 like usher said don't leave them laying around around me like if i see them
00:53:30 --> 00:53:34 there around i'll eat them but other than that i don't think about it my mom
00:53:34 --> 00:53:38 ate two things when she was pregnant with me potato chips and spaghetti,
00:53:38 --> 00:53:42 and to this day i like both of them yeah so
00:53:42 --> 00:53:45 yeah so there you have it
00:53:45 --> 00:53:48 folks i mean you know if you if we miss some things that you
00:53:48 --> 00:53:52 guys call your favorite you can you know definitely let us know what we missed
00:53:52 --> 00:53:55 but i thought that was an interesting list it looked like they got the number
00:53:55 --> 00:54:04 one spot right though so we can't complain so all right okay moving on to leonard's
00:54:04 --> 00:54:08 favorite part of the show which is dave's corner.
00:54:10 --> 00:54:16 I was using the thanksgiving theme here for the question it says you cook thanksgiving
00:54:16 --> 00:54:22 dinner you cook your favorite dishes what dishes are out on your table that
00:54:22 --> 00:54:25 you cooked keep in mind These are your favorites.
00:54:26 --> 00:54:30 Okay. How many do I got to say a certain number or just all your favorites?
00:54:30 --> 00:54:31 I mean, all your favorites.
00:54:32 --> 00:54:36 Yeah. All right. So I'm definitely going to go with some good crispy fried chicken,
00:54:36 --> 00:54:39 some fried fish, some ham.
00:54:39 --> 00:54:45 If there's some good sausage, I'm trying to think of all my meats. I'm not doing turkey.
00:54:48 --> 00:54:49 So I like that.
00:54:50 --> 00:54:53 When you say sauce, are you talking about Italian sauce? What type of sauce
00:54:53 --> 00:54:56 are you talking about? Polish sauce? Yeah, really any.
00:54:56 --> 00:55:03 I like it all. As far as my size, I'm definitely mashed potatoes,
00:55:04 --> 00:55:09 macaroni and cheese, potato salad, some good seasoned green beans.
00:55:10 --> 00:55:14 Damn, Dave. Because you know dinner time right after this. I'm going to be highly
00:55:14 --> 00:55:17 disappointed wherever I go. I also want...
00:55:18 --> 00:55:23 Somebody in my family, they make a great broccoli and casserole rice yeah bro
00:55:23 --> 00:55:27 yeah like broccoli and cheese casserole rice that's a bomb um somebody else
00:55:27 --> 00:55:30 does sweet potatoes and they have a layer.
00:55:32 --> 00:55:34 When you're talking about what other people doing i'm talking about what you
00:55:34 --> 00:55:38 what you're making yeah that was that's what i would make so you would have
00:55:38 --> 00:55:41 to make you would have to make those dishes i'm talking about somebody in my
00:55:41 --> 00:55:45 family so you would have to make those dishes okay go ahead now are we talking
00:55:45 --> 00:55:48 about what i'm capable of making or what No, no, no, no.
00:55:48 --> 00:55:52 No, I'm giving you leeway as far as being able to do it. Yeah.
00:55:52 --> 00:55:55 I mean, everything you named, I don't care if you're capable.
00:55:55 --> 00:55:57 This is what you would cook.
00:55:57 --> 00:56:00 This is your taste. So I'm going to do that broccoli and casserole rice.
00:56:00 --> 00:56:07 I'm going to do sweet potato with a layer of pecans over them. I'm going to do.
00:56:08 --> 00:56:10 And it's so funny because I ain't going to do a lot of vegetables.
00:56:12 --> 00:56:14 I'm waiting. You ain't said a lot of vegetables. I know.
00:56:15 --> 00:56:20 Because not a lot of. I mean, the green beans, oh, some good collard greens.
00:56:20 --> 00:56:26 I will take some or some good cabbage or, you know, collard green cabbage mix, whatever. I know.
00:56:27 --> 00:56:33 So I'll have that some good roll, you know, buttered roll.
00:56:35 --> 00:56:37 And then what are you doing for dessert?
00:56:39 --> 00:56:43 I'm only doing one, two things. I'm doing pecan pie and I'm doing cheesecake
00:56:43 --> 00:56:47 and I'm, I'm putting the kibosh on everything else.
00:56:48 --> 00:56:51 Wow. Okay. Yeah. No sweet potato pie.
00:56:51 --> 00:56:55 No, I'm, I'm, I'm not a sweet potato pie person. Take my black card now,
00:56:55 --> 00:56:58 Dave. Okay. You're a pumpkin pie person. Nope.
00:56:58 --> 00:57:03 Okay. I was waiting. I was getting ready to say, it's not that black card. I know.
00:57:05 --> 00:57:10 Like that video I sent you where they told the guy, a pumpkin and a sweet potato
00:57:10 --> 00:57:12 pie. And the guy said pumpkin.
00:57:17 --> 00:57:20 Okay, well, you got a full table there, man. I do, Dave.
00:57:21 --> 00:57:25 I love to eat, so I'm trying to do it up. I know this guy eats,
00:57:25 --> 00:57:28 man. His metabolism is so high, man, because he don't get no bigger.
00:57:29 --> 00:57:32 Dave, I'm trying. This is just not working.
00:57:34 --> 00:57:38 Dave, what about you? You're cooking thanksgiving dinner
00:57:38 --> 00:57:41 you cook your favorite dishes which dishes
00:57:41 --> 00:57:45 are going to be on your thanksgiving table yeah i
00:57:45 --> 00:57:48 know there's something that you didn't say but i'm gonna say it
00:57:48 --> 00:57:51 okay as far as my meats it'll probably
00:57:51 --> 00:57:54 be chicken i'm over
00:57:54 --> 00:57:57 the turkey thing it doesn't have to be turkey anymore i would
00:57:57 --> 00:58:00 do a cornish hen as far as my chicken is i
00:58:00 --> 00:58:03 would do fried chicken and maybe a cornish fan something small
00:58:03 --> 00:58:06 as far as any other
00:58:06 --> 00:58:10 meals and i would want like
00:58:10 --> 00:58:12 a fish probably salmon like a grilled salmon or
00:58:12 --> 00:58:15 something like that that would be the extent
00:58:15 --> 00:58:24 my meat then i would have my thighs would be stuffing i love stuffing you didn't
00:58:24 --> 00:58:31 mention stuffing at all but i'm a okay mac and cheese like a peel off rice or
00:58:31 --> 00:58:33 something like that or a seasoned rice,
00:58:35 --> 00:58:43 put up mac and cheese i'm not i like the like like a fried potato as opposed
00:58:43 --> 00:58:48 or baked potato either one i would do either one of those baked potatoes or fried potatoes.
00:58:50 --> 00:58:55 So that would be my or and oh potato salad,
00:58:56 --> 00:58:59 maybe double eggs i like those too
00:58:59 --> 00:59:09 then as far as my vegetables corn on the cob or off the cob off the cob on the
00:59:09 --> 00:59:14 cob it doesn't matter i like the mexican style corn though oh yeah yeah yeah
00:59:14 --> 00:59:17 yeah so i would have that green.
00:59:20 --> 00:59:29 Broccoli i'll even do cauliflower without i'm not a green bean person so that'll
00:59:29 --> 00:59:35 probably be the extent of my best food right there where i took name of course gotta have some rolls.
00:59:36 --> 00:59:39 And cornbread gotta have cornbread man gotta
00:59:39 --> 00:59:42 have oh yeah i definitely forgot that
00:59:42 --> 00:59:46 yeah gotta have barbread on the table so cornbread
00:59:46 --> 00:59:49 and i think
00:59:49 --> 00:59:56 for dessert i gotta have a cake preferably an applesauce cake if i can if i
00:59:56 --> 01:00:00 can get one or or maybe those one of those sweet potato cakes from shop right
01:00:00 --> 01:00:09 sweet potato pie or cherry pie either or some ice cream to eat with my cake or pie,
01:00:10 --> 01:00:16 and that would probably be my dinner right there and i think i got everything
01:00:16 --> 01:00:21 covered that i wouldn't want to cook yeah i think that's everything right there
01:00:21 --> 01:00:26 from the drink i always make sure i have because i'm not a drinker i always
01:00:26 --> 01:00:30 have the sparkling bottles of you know the sparkling.
01:00:31 --> 01:00:34 Wine bottle you know the pink stuff you know
01:00:34 --> 01:00:37 i'm talking about you don't know what i'm talking about because you
01:00:37 --> 01:00:41 drink real stuff so you wouldn't understand what
01:00:41 --> 01:00:44 i'm saying leonard leonard drinks the hard stuff uh
01:00:44 --> 01:00:47 you know i'm not i'm not a drinker so i would
01:00:47 --> 01:00:50 have the sparkling champagne stuff the fake
01:00:50 --> 01:00:58 champagne stuff and probably some other type of juice or whatever so so that's
01:00:58 --> 01:01:00 what i would have to drink what would you drink what would you have to drink
01:01:00 --> 01:01:09 with your milk that's probably a patrone or or will you what would you drink with your milk.
01:01:11 --> 01:01:16 St leonard sabbath some issues here moan leonard there probably be some hard
01:01:16 --> 01:01:20 hardcore stuff can you can you hear me now can you can you.
01:01:21 --> 01:01:25 About say can you hear me yeah there you go there you go all right okay so what would you drink.
01:01:26 --> 01:01:31 Mine would really probably just be soda juice something like that oh really
01:01:31 --> 01:01:39 no wine no no no hard stuff or anything or no okay all right are you gonna drink
01:01:39 --> 01:01:41 soda or juice okay all right.
