00:00:32
welcome, welcome to News and Trends with Dave and Len. This is one of your hosts, Mr.
00:00:36
David Coker, proprietor of Dave Mark, Inc., promoter
00:00:40
event planner all around good guy hanging out
00:00:43
with mr leonard young what's going on sir hey dave
00:00:46
everything is good this is leonard young ceo of
00:00:49
national black guide delawareblack.com black
00:00:53
media specialist and all around good guy how's it
00:00:56
going dave man i can't call it as one day
00:00:59
at a time you know it's you
00:01:02
know as we watch our summer start
00:01:06
to fade away from us and fall all starting to make its little appearance you
00:01:10
know you can see there's definitely a change going on so you know we're going
00:01:16
to milk it for what we can man we're going to squeeze we're going to squeeze
00:01:19
summer until we can't get no more so how's everything with you.
00:01:25
Man, Dave, you know what they say is not enough time in the day.
00:01:29
I definitely agree with that right now.
00:01:32
So, you know, you want those people that every every minute is accounted for. So that's that's you.
00:01:41
You know, I know. Well, you know, Dave, I will say I am the master of the power net.
00:01:46
You know, like I'll be dead tired and, you know, like I'll take it like a 10 minute nap.
00:01:51
And you know i can make this rest of the day where i know a lot of people and
00:01:56
you know they just can't do a 10 minute nap you know they're saying they're
00:01:59
not got to be 30 minutes an hour,
00:02:01
but a 10 minute power nap yes you know does me wonders i can do it if nobody messes with me,
00:02:10
you know and then you know i'm able to wake up on my own or whatever the case
00:02:14
might be but i mean sometimes you got to do that though especially if you're
00:02:20
a person that gets up early early in the morning or you don't,
00:02:22
or you don't do a lot of sleeping.
00:02:26
Excuse me. Matter of fact, I just had a yarn. Power nap right there.
00:02:32
There you go. There you go. Yeah. But, but I'm just saying that you had to,
00:02:37
but you know, every now and then you got to do that.
00:02:39
And it's just, you know, it helps you with getting through the day.
00:02:44
I mean, so like people that sleep disorders, when they close their eyes,
00:02:49
you know, and they go to sleep and then a lot of them will wake up and,
00:02:58
they will fight with you because they didn't realize they went to sleep.
00:03:02
You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
00:03:05
Sometimes it just takes a little bit to close your eyes to revitalize yourself.
00:03:11
I understand. Believe me, I do.
00:03:15
Does the body wonders. Yes.
00:03:18
Yep. Yep. Yep. So when you look
00:03:21
at the weekend, you did your thing this weekend. How was that, by the way?
00:03:28
Yeah. Yeah. So we have my triathlon.
00:03:32
Oh, my God. You know, there's certain things you do that make you rethink your
00:03:36
whole life and make you think, why am I doing this?
00:03:40
You know, and I just give you some examples right before you jump out of the plane with a parachute.
00:03:45
Shoot you're probably likely to think why am
00:03:48
i doing this right before you
00:03:52
start to get in the water just swim with the sharks when people are
00:03:54
telling you that they don't bite yeah why why am i doing this yep there you
00:04:01
go right before you go in the cage so you can take a picture with the tiger
00:04:06
stepping on your shoulders and you may think why am i doing this well dave i
00:04:12
had one of those experiences on Sunday,
00:04:14
right before I was about to get in the water to swim 750 meters in the Atlantic
00:04:22
City Bay and then ride 12 miles on the Atlantic City Expressway,
00:04:28
only to finish it up with a 3.1 mile run on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
00:04:36
And Dave, that was one of the moments is where I really had to ask myself, why am I doing this?
00:04:42
Which one of those three was the hardest for you?
00:04:46
The hardest was the run. Oh, really? Yeah, yeah. Well, I mean,
00:04:51
you know, the swim is first. You know, you can get it over.
00:04:54
The bike, I mean, I can say I did not go as fast as I wanted to go.
00:04:59
But, you know, Dave, on a bike, you pedal a couple of times and then,
00:05:02
you know, you coast in 20, 30 feet. So, you know, you can kind of go as hard as you want to.
00:05:07
The run, you know, of course, I had my sports watch.
00:05:11
So, you know, I had my per mile pace and, you know, the run,
00:05:15
I wanted to make a certain per mile pace.
00:05:18
So, you know, I kind of pushed it to my limit. it
00:05:22
but that was the hardest because you know once you start running you
00:05:25
know the sun started coming up you know that that's where i wanted to uh call
00:05:30
it quits but luckily i didn't wait you said the sun started coming up yeah well
00:05:36
i'm sorry the sun started coming out so my race started at 8 30 yeah 8 30 a.m
00:05:42
i was gonna say were y'all there before six o'clock or something,
00:05:45
Well, no, I mean, I was there at five o'clock the first race.
00:05:49
Yeah, the first race has started at six thirty.
00:05:52
It was still dark out. Well, it was just getting a little bit light.
00:05:55
But, you know, I was hoping my race would be early, early because when I'm on
00:05:59
my run, I still want it to be like eight o'clock, kind of cool, greasy.
00:06:03
I didn't want it to be ten o'clock sun out, you know, starting to hit 80.
00:06:09
But, you know, all in all, I didn't die. I didn't quit.
00:06:12
And, you know, I definitely put that one in the books. and wait for the next one. Okay.
00:06:18
That's it. All right. Well, yeah, I tell you, folks.
00:06:24
Dave, I'm trying to be like you. I'm doing all this to my partner,
00:06:28
you know, you know, so, you know, he's running for the both of us.
00:06:32
He's swimming for the both of us. He's riding for the both of us.
00:06:36
So, you know, I'm riding. I'm a ride or die. Yeah, there you go. Yep.
00:06:40
So, you know, what about you, Dave? Did you, was there anything special
00:06:44
happening over the weekend you do anything maybe maybe
00:06:47
hit that grass for the final time of the year no no i looked out there i was
00:06:53
i peaked out there to see if i needed to do it yeah i looked at it yes but i
00:07:00
have i went to a wedding on saturday a cousin of mine got married
00:07:04
and it was a nice wedding she just she's getting ready to turn 62 and i was like you know,
00:07:15
it's funny you think of yourself you know you live most of your life why would you get married at 62,
00:07:21
but her and her husband man they had the ball they were having a ball man you
00:07:25
could tell that they you know when you i guess when you find that right person
00:07:30
i guess matter and they seem very happy.
00:07:34
So I'm sure that they're going to, I'm sure they're going to be all right.
00:07:38
I'm sure they're going to be.
00:07:40
Yeah. So yeah, but it was, it was nice.
00:07:44
It was, it was a nice wedding and I was glad for her brother and I, like.
00:07:49
Came up together and he and I were very close. Uh, we lost our brother during COVID.
00:07:56
Sorry to hear that. And yeah, it was kind of a shock.
00:08:01
He lived in, he was living in Atlanta at the time and you know, that was my guy though.
00:08:06
And, uh, you know, I, you know, I felt bad that he wasn't, cause she was very close to him and so,
00:08:14
but I know he would, he would, he would have been proud of her,
00:08:18
you know, so, So, so the, basically the dad and, you know, went to church.
00:08:24
That's about it. You know, I don't live the exciting life that you do.
00:08:28
I don't, you know, I'm not hanging out with you.
00:08:31
You could come on day. Come on. I'm not, I'm not hanging out with the future
00:08:36
triathletes and, and the calf line and tap liners, you know,
00:08:42
I'm not doing all of that, you know?
00:08:44
So, but, but you go ahead, you do, you do you.
00:08:48
Okay. Yeah, I'm going to do it for the both of us. Yeah, you're doing it for
00:08:51
the both of us. That's right. That's right.
00:08:53
All right. Well, let's see what we got to talk about tonight.
00:09:00
I figured we might as well go ahead and start with the obvious stuff.
00:09:06
I mean, what a week it's been over the last week.
00:09:13
You know, first, we talked about it on the last show, talked about James Earl Jones' passing.
00:09:20
Great actor. Done some of the most iconic characters,
00:09:26
voiced some of the most iconic characters, and played some of the most iconic
00:09:30
characters to ever be on Broadway, off-Broadway, in the movies, so forth.
00:09:37
Then we did our show and right after we did our show one of the most beloved
00:09:45
entertainers of all time passes Mr.
00:09:49
Frankie Beverly man we all got Frankie stories,
00:09:54
and he's the guy that is sort of a very unique individual,
00:10:01
when you look at his career because all
00:10:04
his music was done years ago
00:10:08
and it's still some of the most popular
00:10:11
music that's ever been played mm-hmm you know
00:10:15
you always got the the party
00:10:18
starter starter and point finisher before i let go right that's all has been
00:10:24
sampled you know of course me and i say we made it it's been mary j blige you
00:10:29
know it's been done by a couple people then you know you got joy and pain it's also been remade.
00:10:36
You know, a lot of his stuff has been sampled. I'm sure.
00:10:41
That's how they do it. That's how they do it.
00:10:44
But to think that he hasn't made any new music in years and,
00:10:51
everybody has.
00:10:54
Frankie's stories. I mean, you know, because everybody's been to see him and,
00:11:00
of course, you know, he had his iconic look, you know, with the painter's hat
00:11:03
on. He always wore white all the time.
00:11:06
Did you ever go to see him? Did your wife ever go? No. Okay.
00:11:12
I saw him for the first time back in the 80s.
00:11:18
He was here. He's actually here twice because I saw Dave, our buddy Dave Woolley,
00:11:23
did a concert down in Del State, and he was here with Dave Woolley. Oh, wow.
00:11:27
Did you see that post that he put up? No, I didn't see it. He showed a poster, Leonard.
00:11:34
Dave got all this memorabilia. He had a poster of the event he did for homecoming down at Del State.
00:11:43
That was Frankie Beverly and Maze and the SOS man. Right.
00:11:52
All right. Tickets. If you were a student, get this $10.
00:12:00
If you wasn't a student you paid
00:12:03
i think 15 i think it was and you know but the tickets you know went to the
00:12:11
general public went anywhere from 14 to 18 dollars you can't even park for that
00:12:16
now you know what i'm saying you know and it was just interesting to see that i know.
00:12:25
You know, when you have a guy lose somebody like that, it affects.
00:12:28
I was watching, there's a clip I found and I posted on Facebook of him on Arsenio Hall.
00:12:36
And he was leading this all-star choir.
00:12:41
And they did a song about Mandela. And he actually wrote the song.
00:12:45
And Mandela's daughter was also involved in the song.
00:12:49
And you know you just forget about you
00:12:52
know this guy's career has spawned a
00:12:55
long you know a lot of years man so so he will be missed and you know never
00:13:03
won an award never been nominated for any academy i mean any emmy i mean not
00:13:08
emmy but grammy american music award none of those awards he's He's never been nominated,
00:13:13
Leonard, but he's got some of the best music out there.
00:13:18
Yeah, I was going to say, I'm sure he's been a recipient of some tributes,
00:13:22
lifetime type stuff, I'm sure.
00:13:26
Well, and I'm sure now that he's passed, he probably will get some mention now, I'm sure.
00:13:32
But it's just a shame that he didn't get the flowers that he deserved because he just has some.
00:13:38
His music will always be out there. It will always be enjoyed.
00:13:42
So we lost Frankie.
00:13:46
And then yesterday, on Monday, we find out that Tito Jackson died.
00:13:52
One of the original Jackson 5.
00:13:56
Now, I know for, I don't know, were you a big Jackson fan?
00:14:03
Or were you a Michael fan? I was a Michael fan. I was a Jackson 5 fan.
00:14:08
Okay. All right. Yeah, well, see, I came up as a Jackson 5 fan because that was during my time.
00:14:17
You know, these guys are still touring.
00:14:21
They were actually supposed to be in Philadelphia in a couple of weeks,
00:14:24
you know, and they found, you know, you know, the brother passes at 70 years old.
00:14:31
You know, they said these things happen in threes. I don't know if that was,
00:14:34
you know, that's that's three in a row.
00:14:36
We didn't lost in less than a week. and all of them have significant.
00:14:43
Places in a lot of our lives you know you know from a james earl jones to a
00:14:51
frankie beverly to a tito jackson but we're losing a lot of people who you know
00:14:59
that 70 year old and older group.
00:15:03
Starting to lose a lot of the icon you know
00:15:07
and it's really a shame so but i
00:15:10
just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge those three
00:15:13
since you know you know we
00:15:16
always hear it especially in our community we always
00:15:19
hear about it always comes in three so you know
00:15:22
so there we had three people in
00:15:25
less than a week that have affected us you know they've been very positive effects
00:15:32
on all of us and for most of us right all right so anything you want to add
00:15:39
to that before we move on No, I mean, I agree.
00:15:42
I think it's very tragic and it's funny because it's just one of the things
00:15:49
where as soon as you start to finish or semi-finish mourning one great person,
00:15:56
something else happens.
00:15:58
So hopefully we can get a break and we can kind of, you know,
00:16:03
savor some of these memories without having to go into the next grieving process.
00:16:08
That's... How about that?
00:16:10
Yeah, that's important because you know, you know, because people I know,
00:16:17
you know, people still are feeling the after effects of the Frankie Beverly thing.
00:16:25
And, you know, you really find out how much he was loved after he passed.
00:16:29
And I saw on social media that this Friday is supposed to be a wear white thing. Yeah, wear white.
00:16:36
For Frankie. I know they had a...
00:16:38
How about that? had a balloon release on this
00:16:41
past friday they did oh did they yeah on the
00:16:44
street that they renamed after him a few last year
00:16:48
yeah yeah so they yeah they did a they did a memory uh in memory of him they
00:16:55
did a balloon release thing on friday this past friday so i'm sure they'll be
00:17:01
doing a lot of tributes when it comes to him so okay all right moving on to our next story.
00:17:09
I saw this and I had, because I had been hearing some things in reference to
00:17:14
this, especially ever since it happened.
00:17:19
Oh, before I bring this up, though, because I did put down to talk about this,
00:17:25
but I just want to just do a quick, quick chat about it.
00:17:29
So you saw the thing about over the weekend about another supposedly assassination.
00:17:37
Hold on, hold on, because you got to go into my topic.
00:17:41
Oh, OK. I'll hold on to it. I'll hold on. Yeah, we'll talk. We'll talk about it. OK.
00:17:47
OK. All right. I'm going to step on Leonard's toes again.
00:17:50
OK. Remember what happened last week? Yeah. OK. That's right. I forgot. I forgot. OK.
00:17:56
Well, we'll talk about it shortly. OK. So coming back to what I was going to
00:18:00
say. The only reason I was going to say it because he started this.
00:18:05
But this is about Haitians in Ohio find solidarity church after a chaotic week
00:18:13
of false claims by Trump and Vance.
00:18:16
And I'm going to read a little bit of the story right quick.
00:18:19
It says, for many Haitian immigrants, Sunday mornings in Springfield,
00:18:25
Ohio, are spent joyfully worshiping God as they sing and praise in their native Creole.
00:18:33
The Sunday they needed that uplifting bomb more than ever.
00:18:36
Jesus is with us in truth. And truth is that Haitians are not eating pets in Springfield.
00:18:50
Said Reverend Carl Ruby, preaching at Central Christian Church.
00:18:55
He invited community members to join his congregation in prayer and peacefully
00:19:00
protest the false rumors leveled against the Haitian neighbors.
00:19:05
They are demanding an apology. It is true that the retraction of these rumors
00:19:12
will help to restore peace in Springfield.
00:19:14
We respectfully call on our politicians and media figures who are promoting
00:19:20
this rumor to help make Springfield great and safe again by speaking the truth about our community.
00:19:27
One leader of the Haysman Community Help and Support Center in Springfield has
00:19:32
said to Ruby's invitation to worship together at Central Kristen and was grateful
00:19:36
to be relying on his faith.
00:19:39
It is important to be here because we're Kristen, despite everything.
00:19:43
We worship in good times and bad times, they said.
00:19:48
And he had a message for Trump and Vance. If they have the heart of God,
00:19:53
they will think differently and speak differently.
00:19:56
The rumors they spread on social media and by Trump during Tuesday's televised
00:20:01
presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris has exacerbated fears about division,
00:20:08
anti-immigrant sentiments ahead of the election in the mostly white,
00:20:13
blue-collar city of about 59, where more than 15 Haitians now live and work.
00:20:22
Thousands of temporary Haitian migrants have legally landed in Springfield in
00:20:27
the recent years under the U.S.
00:20:31
Temporary Protective Status Program as longstanding unrest in their home country
00:20:37
has given way to violent gang ruling the streets. I'm going to stop right there.
00:20:42
So, we all have heard about what Trump said during the debate.
00:20:49
These are the people that he was directing his comments about,
00:20:55
the Haitian public and saying that they were eating people's pets and cats and dogs and so forth.
00:21:05
Did you hear how people were threatening to shoot the Haitians up there because
00:21:10
they believed what Trump said and that they had been fearful for their lives
00:21:15
and a lot of them have been staying indoors because of all that's going on?
00:21:20
Yeah, I mean, I definitely believe it. It kind of reminds me how.
00:21:25
January 6th, Trump hyped up that crowd to go on the Capitol and then he didn't even show up.
00:21:33
And it kind of reminds me of this where they're hyping up these people to go
00:21:37
after these Haitians and then they want to look like their hands are clean.
00:21:41
Like, you know, I didn't say that. I didn't do that. I didn't.
00:21:44
You know, Trump is always good for saying I didn't tell them to do that.
00:21:48
Yeah, I know. I know. Well, that's like why I'm back. It's back.
00:21:53
Yeah. It's just like when he made the statement during the debate,
00:21:56
when he said what he said and he got called out about it, you know,
00:22:02
by the moderator that he said, well, that's what I hear anyway.
00:22:06
Right. You know, it was OK for him to do that. Did you hear the Ohio governor?
00:22:15
Governor. So the Ohio governor is a Republican, and he came out saying that
00:22:21
there is no basis to these claims, you know, no nothing.
00:22:25
So I'm curious how that's going to play over, too.
00:22:29
But, yeah, I mean, to be honest, you know, I think they said something to hype
00:22:34
up the people to be on their side.
00:22:36
And then, you know, we already talked about Trump probably has the most loyal following ever.
00:22:41
If he said for everyone to eat dog poop
00:22:44
there'd be a bunch of trumper that they're eating dog yeah
00:22:47
because he said it would be
00:22:50
because it has natural vitamins or you know something in it and they would eat
00:22:55
it just because he said it you know so yeah i i believe that i truly do it's
00:23:00
really it's really crazy how you know it's almost cult-like you know yeah it's
00:23:06
very cult-like yeah Yeah. Yeah.
00:23:08
You know, I think about it and it's really scary that, you know,
00:23:16
what would the Malcolm X say?
00:23:19
What did the cops say about Malcolm X when they were outside the police station?
00:23:23
And Malcolm had his people out there and they're standing out there.
00:23:28
And Malcolm, he said, OK, you know, talk to you to get rid of this crowd.
00:23:34
Out and malcolm said okay malcolm just
00:23:36
put his hand up in the air and pointed it and
00:23:40
they they it never said a word and they
00:23:43
just started marching and they started leaving and the cop says no one man should
00:23:49
have that much power right oh and you let me tell you is that where kanye got
00:23:55
it from because kanye has a song where it said no one man should have that much power exactly
00:24:01
where it comes okay yeah yeah learn something new every day look at that yeah
00:24:05
see there you go and stick with me man i'll teach you something yeah so but
00:24:11
yeah yeah so yeah you should never you should never have somebody who has that kind of power man and,
00:24:18
and he he definitely he definitely does.
00:24:24
I feel for those people up there, it's really a shame because they're taking the blame.
00:24:31
They're getting the brunt of all the anger and everything.
00:24:35
As he said, something crazy on that debate.
00:24:40
So wrong. But we have to keep an eye on the story and hopefully these people
00:24:45
can get some relief up there.
00:24:47
After all, I mean, circumstances have people put in situations all the time.
00:24:53
And you know it's unfortunate we have a lot of Haitians in this country all
00:24:58
over it so happened that he chose to mention Springfield, Ohio,
00:25:04
and Dave that he chose to mention the Haitian of all the different immigrants
00:25:10
we have in here he didn't say the Mexicans and Dave let me tell you what it
00:25:15
made me think of you remember about when Trump was in office office.
00:25:21
Something happened. I forget what happened with Haiti.
00:25:25
And he he referenced Haiti as a and I think it came out.
00:25:30
He didn't mean to say it publicly, but it got out or somebody said it.
00:25:33
He mentioned Haiti as a shithole country.
00:25:36
Wow. You remember that? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I do. Yeah.
00:25:40
So. So, you know, just kind of ironic that this, you know, this was a group
00:25:46
of immigrants that he chose to kind of make an example. of. Yeah, well.
00:25:54
Let's hope that he doesn't have any issues because of them. I'll put it that way.
00:26:02
And Dave, I just pulled it up
00:26:03
here. So he referred to Haiti and African nations as shit hole countries.
00:26:11
That's crazy, ain't it? And he did that when he was president, right?
00:26:15
Yeah, that was in 2018. he said why would we allow immigrants from shit old countries,
00:26:24
damn and this is a president he
00:26:28
wasn't a president so you know I just thought I'd bring that up so just you
00:26:34
know when this November 10th election comes you vote for the right people that's
00:26:40
right you gotta vote man you gotta vote because we can't allow this person to
00:26:45
get back in his office. We really can't.
00:26:47
Do you see what can happen if he does get back in?
00:26:52
Oh, we'll be talking more about him. Right.
00:26:56
That's just one version of what
00:26:57
we had to talk about him. I guess that'll lead us into our next story.
00:27:02
So I will let you go ahead and pick up on that.
00:27:05
Yeah. So, Dave, I mean, this kind of piggyback off the whole Trump thing.
00:27:09
But so over the weekend and I'm not sure if you're aware, this was my first
00:27:13
time hearing it prior when I was researching.
00:27:15
But Elon Musk is facing backlash because he joked about the lack of assassination
00:27:23
attempts on President Biden and President Vice President Kamala Harris.
00:27:30
So, of course, knows probably everyone is familiar now with the fact that while
00:27:35
Trump was playing golf at his West Palm Beach club over the weekend,
00:27:41
when there was somebody fired, there was a gunman who fired a rifle from about
00:27:47
three to five hundred yards away.
00:27:49
Way the president of course they rushed him to a
00:27:52
safe place they did catch and identify
00:27:55
the subject the subject dave would you believe it
00:27:58
is a white male not a black male white male and dave i'm wondering if he just
00:28:05
may happen to be a republican you know like i mean hey i have not seen anything
00:28:09
about it yet but i'm curious whether he's republican or democrat yeah but you
00:28:14
know with With that said,
00:28:16
so, of course, and, you know, Dave, even though we're joking around.
00:28:20
You know, nobody wants to see anybody get assassinated.
00:28:23
Right. Right.
00:28:26
Yeah. Yeah. But anyway, so on on X or Twitter, formerly known as Twitter.
00:28:36
Elon Musk, who is the CEO of Tesla, said, and when someone, he was responding
00:28:44
to a comment where somebody said, why would they want to kill Donald Trump?
00:28:49
And he said, and no one is even trying to assassinate Biden or Kamala.
00:28:56
And so, of course, you know, a lot of people found that a little disrespectful.
00:29:00
He got a lot of backlash and he did delete his tweet, but he defended the comments.
00:29:07
So he kind of doubled down and, you know, kind of stood on it.
00:29:10
And he said, well, one lesson I learned that just because I say something to
00:29:16
a group and they laugh doesn't mean it's going to be hilarious to everybody on X.
00:29:22
So basically what he's trying to say is he was trying to make a joke out of
00:29:26
it and people didn't think it was a joke. So, but, you know,
00:29:30
I mean, it was definitely in poor taste. What do you think?
00:29:33
Yeah, it was definitely that was definitely in poor taste. Yeah, definitely.
00:29:39
Elon Musk is an interesting person. It's amazing. He's a very smart man.
00:29:45
But at the same time, you know, we know a lot of smart, dumb people.
00:29:49
You know what I mean? Yeah.
00:29:51
And, you know, even though he's so brilliant, some of the things he says and
00:29:56
does just doesn't make a bit of sense.
00:29:58
You know, and to say something like that, even in joking,
00:30:02
you know, you know, last week, Kevin Hart said something that was supposedly
00:30:10
he was just joking about, supposedly.
00:30:15
But you could tell he was a little serious about it, too, when he made the comment
00:30:18
you heard about the whole thing about Delaware State and HBCUs and so forth, you know.
00:30:25
You might be joking and it might be funny at the moment, you know,
00:30:29
you might get a couple of, you know, ha ha's, but then it's always going to
00:30:33
be somebody who's going to look at it differently.
00:30:36
And, you know, you just had to be responsible and careful about how you, how you look at things.
00:30:45
And that's what, that's what we have to do.
00:30:48
And it was really crazy that he,
00:30:52
that Elon Musk would put himself out there like that, especially with talking
00:30:57
about killing people or attempting to kill people because Trump has been supposedly,
00:31:04
and that's right.
00:31:05
Because Leonard, come on, man, come on. Think about this.
00:31:12
In two of the biggest states that Trump would need in order to get elected.
00:31:21
Why is he being shot at? Supposedly.
00:31:25
In these states well and that's
00:31:28
if he's being shot at because we still don't know
00:31:31
the whole story what happened in pa
00:31:34
we don't know we don't we don't know if that guy actually is dead we don't know
00:31:39
you know we don't know we can't we don't know if any of that happened for real
00:31:43
you know i mean we really don't now the story was that trump this weekend was
00:31:50
on a golf course playing in golf and they heard gunshots.
00:31:54
So why now gunshots could have been from anywhere.
00:31:59
Now that was, I don't remember reading anything that they found shells or anything near him. Did you?
00:32:05
I did not. Okay. So why all of a sudden, because they heard it went from hearing
00:32:12
gunshots in the area of the golf courts to an assassination attempt.
00:32:18
Why? Because there was a debate last week that Trump got crushed and his popularity
00:32:25
has gone down and a lot of people have jumped ship.
00:32:29
And then you had some of the top stars in the world to come out and say, I'm right.
00:32:36
Immediately after the debate, immediately afterwards. Did you hear?
00:32:39
Did you hear what he said when Taylor Swift came out and said he said, I hate Taylor Swift.
00:32:45
Did he say that yeah yeah yeah
00:32:48
he did he came out and said i hate taylor swift now
00:32:52
you know good and well you say
00:32:55
you hate taylor swift and we know how big
00:32:58
her army is they vote you probably just lost saying something like that yeah
00:33:04
so and you are only saying you hate her because she didn't she didn't endorse
00:33:10
you yeah she didn't endorse her and that was It was immediately after that debate that she said that.
00:33:16
So now, all of a sudden, there's an attempt on your life because now you've fallen behind again.
00:33:25
I just think the timing is impeccable. And I just think that,
00:33:29
you know, he's just, he's drawing straws.
00:33:36
Right now, he has the short one. And he's just figuring out how to get the long
00:33:41
one right now. so we'll see what happens but it's a mess it really is you know and look.
00:33:52
I had my own personal feelings about this whole assassination thing twice now.
00:33:58
You know, if somebody really did try to take him out or shoot at him,
00:34:04
that's so wrong. I don't care who it is.
00:34:06
No man should be trying to kill another man like that, regardless of who it is. Right.
00:34:13
But if all of this is being staged and these people are mythical people,
00:34:17
you know, because you figure how easy would it be for them?
00:34:21
With the first attempt but then to make up
00:34:24
the story that they did say that the guy was
00:34:27
shot we never saw any pictures of him being shot or anything like that give
00:34:33
the guy a new identity pay him off skip it wherever he needed to go nobody ever
00:34:39
hear from him again keep it moving keep it moving and you know same thing had
00:34:43
happened with this situation you know with this
00:34:46
guy that they supposedly picked up for shooting, you know, shooting at him.
00:34:51
So we, we really won't know the whole story unless somebody gets floppy or he
00:34:57
pisses somebody off and they tell the truth.
00:34:59
So we'll see what happens. But anyway, that's all I got to say about that.
00:35:03
I mean, if you want to add anything else to it now, I mean, I think you pretty much covered it.
00:35:09
Yeah. That's what I'm saying. It's crazy.
00:35:13
Yeah. I can't win him. I really can't. Anyway, All right, moving on. So, let's see.
00:35:22
This is your boy right here, okay? So,
00:35:26
Shannon Shashay Sharp decides that he wants to get busy, pulls around,
00:35:38
and goes on Instagram Live, supposedly by mistake, okay?
00:35:44
OK, we've been hearing about it.
00:35:46
This happened a few days ago and you can hear Shannon talking this mess and,
00:35:52
you know, having some, you know, supposedly having sex with a female by the name of Michelle.
00:35:59
OK, well, now Shannon has decided to market his whole experience.
00:36:05
And now this is what he's come up with.
00:36:08
It says Shannon Sharp has launched a new merchandise, new merchandise inspired by Michelle.
00:36:14
The woman he is overheard having sex with during a recent Instagram live video
00:36:20
that went viral, amassing over 6 million views. It's funny.
00:36:28
All it has to have is sex involved. You know it's going to get some views,
00:36:32
right? So, you know. The views are coming.
00:36:35
They're coming. So, it says initially...
00:36:40
Claiming his account had been hacked and it's
00:36:43
funny all of them all of them like we said before they all
00:36:46
go to the hack thing you know because they want to try to
00:36:49
keep you know they don't want to make people
00:36:52
think it was them sharp later admitted that this
00:36:56
was not the case i threw my phone on the bed engaging in
00:36:59
engaging in an activity sharp said i did
00:37:02
not know ig i did not no ig
00:37:05
live i've never turned ig live on
00:37:08
so i don't know how it works and all
00:37:11
of a sudden my phone started going off the pro
00:37:14
football hall of famer said his heart sank after the moment went viral i called
00:37:19
my agent i called the agency i called the espn and i thought just to tell them
00:37:24
the truth the phone wasn't hacked it wasn't a prank it was me being a healthy
00:37:29
active male explanation sharp.
00:37:33
Obviously i'm embarrassed sharp says someone that
00:37:36
is extremely private and have one of
00:37:39
your most intimate details the audio heard for the
00:37:42
entire world to hear i'm embarrassed for a number of
00:37:45
reasons sharp is now capitalizing on the viral moment as he announced the release
00:37:50
of the michelle t-shirt that's my michelle shirt drop because that's that's
00:37:59
what he heard saying in the video, you know, that's by Michelle.
00:38:04
He posted on Complex Reports, I told y'all to leave that lady alone,
00:38:10
but y'all kept harassing, knowing that man ain't got but one good nerve left, thanks to Chad.
00:38:19
So here we are. Are you happy now?
00:38:23
Several celebrities responded that Sharp's IG Live is that Rick Ross saying
00:38:28
in the video, Shannon Sharp, now we We forgive you because we know you old N-words
00:38:34
don't know how to work electronically.
00:38:39
That's funny. Well, to make a long story short, you know, the whole thing is kind of crazy.
00:38:47
It's there's so many stories involved with this whole thing with Shannon Sharp,
00:38:56
because the backdrop is a lot of people have questioned Shannon's sexuality for a long time.
00:39:06
And then I don't know if you know anything about this.
00:39:09
There's a particular person that he always is seen at games with all the time.
00:39:16
It's a guy black male
00:39:19
who is obviously gay
00:39:23
that he's always with that's his partner he's always traveling with all the
00:39:28
time i don't know if you heard or seen anything about this person i haven't
00:39:32
yeah but yeah but they so that's one of the things that's one of the reasons they always,
00:39:41
question him because this guy's always with him all the time wow
00:39:44
so then you know they talk about that you know this person that he's with this
00:39:51
female that he was with but we don't really know if that was a female or not
00:39:55
or whether the whole thing was just staged to try to throw people off of this
00:39:59
whole sexuality because like i said man they've been saying for years that shannon And,
00:40:04
you know, goes both ways or whatever the case may be.
00:40:09
So they think the whole thing was just a ploy to try to get people off that
00:40:13
set. What do you think about that?
00:40:16
I don't know. You know, I will say, and I mean, not Instagram live,
00:40:22
but every once in a while I'll be walking around and my video is on on my phone.
00:40:28
And it's like, oh, wow. I mean, I'm sorry. like it's on the video screen where
00:40:33
I could hit record. Right. Yeah.
00:40:36
So I don't, I don't know. I mean, I don't doubt it. I mean, of course I heard,
00:40:40
have heard the, the gay rumors. Um,
00:40:44
And, you know, it's funny because I did see someone post on one of the social
00:40:48
media like, no, he wasn't he wasn't saying Michelle. He was saying Mitchell.
00:40:54
I was like, oh, but Dave, you know, at the end of the day, we will probably never know.
00:41:01
What I do know is I would be mortified if I was in the intimate act with my
00:41:11
with my wife and I go to my phone and I see that thing was on Instagram live.
00:41:21
Maybe it called somebody. I would be mortified and I could see calling people
00:41:27
like, what the hell do I do?
00:41:30
Yeah. Yeah. yeah in fact dave what
00:41:33
what would you do you're with your
00:41:37
partner you pick up your phone and it
00:41:40
was on instagram live and like
00:41:42
you can see comments going through there as if you know people people you know
00:41:48
but you know because yeah because chad chad um also single the whole time was
00:41:53
saying um pick up your phone pick up your phone you know you know so right of
00:41:58
course you You ain't looking at your phone during that moment. You know?
00:42:02
Well, Dave, you know what? He might have been trying to do some video stuff with the intimacy.
00:42:08
And that's why I kind of, you know.
00:42:11
Well, the do Instagram live.
00:42:15
There's a few steps you got to go through in order for that to happen.
00:42:20
I've never done Instagram live personally. Have you? I have.
00:42:25
Okay. so how many steps is there to
00:42:28
do it i know i've done facebook live so i
00:42:32
mean really really it's just two steps you know
00:42:35
you hit i mean minimum two steps you you hit the instagram live button and then
00:42:42
it just it's like a little red circle in the middle and said like ready to broadcast
00:42:47
you hit it and it says like three two one and then it says something like notifying followers
00:42:54
and you know it's it's
00:42:58
live to the world right okay but
00:43:02
think about this okay just based on what you just said it's not a thing where
00:43:08
you got to go to instagram first in order for it to happen right yes you have
00:43:15
to be on instagram okay so obviously he was on instagram second,
00:43:21
Second, you got to be on the screen, the right screen, in order to press that button, right?
00:43:27
I'm sure, yep. Yeah, because it's not going to come up. Like,
00:43:30
when you go to Instagram, it doesn't have...
00:43:34
Wait, I don't think it has it. It doesn't have it on that main screen to hit live?
00:43:40
On, like, the feed screen? Yeah, no, it doesn't, right?
00:43:44
Well, it does. No, you'd have to hit the plus button.
00:43:49
Right, right. And then at the bottom right is the live button.
00:43:53
So, you got to go through three screens to get to it.
00:43:57
Well, you got to go to screens or two steps.
00:44:00
Yep. Plus the plus button takes you to the Instagram live. Then you got two
00:44:06
steps you got to do. Yeah. OK. OK. So.
00:44:09
So just putting your phone down, that even is a little forfeits. Right.
00:44:16
And they're coming on. I mean, Dave, think about it, too.
00:44:20
It only takes two hits of your phone to get on something you don't want it to be on.
00:44:27
Right but like i said there
00:44:30
has to be some kind of pre-planning involved to get
00:44:33
you you know what i'm saying i mean look this all started with with ray j and
00:44:39
kim you know you know when but of course it wasn't like you know we didn't have
00:44:44
social media the way we have it now but right these most of these actors who
00:44:50
are doing or leaking these things or whatever Whatever the case may be,
00:44:53
isn't a lot of times it's not an athlete.
00:44:56
I mean, you are you are doing this because you let somebody film things that
00:45:01
you don't know they're doing it. You know what I mean? So, right.
00:45:04
You know now why he where he did get lucky is he better be glad that phone was facing the ceiling.
00:45:12
Could you imagine if that phone was on him?
00:45:16
I mean, he would never live that day. Yeah. And especially, look,
00:45:20
especially if we find out, especially if we find out that it was not a female.
00:45:25
Anyway, he was, you know, for him to do this merchandise thing,
00:45:31
you know, I find it a little tasteless, personally. I really do.
00:45:36
Yeah. I mean, Dave, you know, I feel like it's a little corny because if I wanted
00:45:41
to do a Michelle shirt, I'm going to make my own.
00:45:47
I'm not going to buy a shirt I'm going
00:45:50
to make my own or find a bootlegger to
00:45:53
do it yeah and then
00:45:56
he's also advertising these pills yeah X-Row I think they're called Sparks and
00:46:06
he was he said there was a little mini commercial that he had on,
00:46:15
on online and he was up there saying Shannon what were you thinking about it
00:46:21
was him and Ocho Cinco he said man I know I messed up man but I was on that
00:46:25
Sparks man I was on that Sparks you know he said so I had to handle my business
00:46:31
I had to handle my business you know so but anyway,
00:46:36
shame on you shame on you Shannon but fortunately enough they didn't get rid
00:46:40
of him he didn't get fired he didn't lose any of of his jobs.
00:46:46
So that's, I guess that's, that's a good thing, but come on, come on.
00:46:51
You got to do better, brother. You got to do better, you know? So, all right.
00:46:56
All right. Well, okay. It looks like that was our last story.
00:47:00
So we get to go into Leonard's favorite part of the show, folks,
00:47:03
which is Leonard's corner.
00:47:06
So, so Dave, today, my question for Leonard's corner. Oh my God.
00:47:13
Just jokes i know i know but you
00:47:16
can get your next one i'm gonna leave it up to you though i
00:47:20
will leave it up to you since i know you
00:47:22
get i know you i know it'll be hard for you to do since
00:47:25
you like me doing it all the time no no piece of cake
00:47:28
anyway but this one just gonna
00:47:30
test your knowledge a little bit i got a couple of trivia questions for
00:47:34
you i just want to test your knowledge of what what
00:47:37
what trivia did we talk about no it's just a little
00:47:39
bit of everything saying you know i just wanted and i
00:47:42
even made it easy for you because i could have i could have made
00:47:45
it hard but giving you i'm giving you multiple choices so
00:47:48
you got a one out of whatever chance to try to
00:47:51
get it right you know so but i
00:47:54
got a few questions and i just want to see how good you are with this okay sure
00:47:59
day we've done this we've done this in the past so you know i'm sure i'll i
00:48:04
know you'll try to get me back at some point but anyway all right but you you've
00:48:09
been a brilliant person I know and the big time.
00:48:13
Don't try to butter me up. The big time HBCU grad and all of that stuff.
00:48:19
So here we go. I know you can handle this. Okay. All right.
00:48:22
All right. Here's the first question. Sure. In what country did the first Starbucks
00:48:29
open outside of North America?
00:48:33
China. Well, say, now, see, I could put that down as an answer if you want.
00:48:41
Well, Dave, well, I, You said trivia. Okay, go ahead. What are the options? You say I'm being nice.
00:48:50
The options are Germany, Japan, Australia, or Russia. Japan.
00:48:58
Okay. All right. You only got that one right because you said China first.
00:49:03
Well, no, because I was just sure that I said China because,
00:49:07
you know, they got a ton of people over there. So I was like, okay, that's got to be.
00:49:11
All right. All right, what's next?
00:49:14
Come on. I'm ready.
00:49:17
I'm on a one-on-one roll. Yeah, okay, here we go. Here we go.
00:49:23
In a web... This is a toss-up, but let's see.
00:49:27
Don't mess it up. In a website browser address bar, what does www stand for?
00:49:36
The answers are... World Wide Web. Come on now.
00:49:40
So you don't want to hear Okay so you're confident You're confident with that
00:49:45
okay Alright he happens to be right folks I knew that would be easy because
00:49:49
this guy knows He should know that,
00:49:51
Alright number three Which company Logan Is you're in good hands Allstate Okay
00:49:59
alright he's showing off I'm telling you,
00:50:03
Dave the viewers That I know who's really right about all all these jokes we tell back and forth.
00:50:11
Go ahead. All right. All right. Next one.
00:50:16
Originally, Amazon only sold what kind of product? Books.
00:50:22
Okay. Whatever. Okay. Hey, don't get mad.
00:50:27
Get glad. But I'm going to get you here. This next one, I'm going to get you.
00:50:30
Because those were easy.
00:50:31
Those were easy. But this next one, I'm going to get you, though.
00:50:34
And what year was the internet open to the public 1993 1991 1994 or 1989,
00:50:46
wow uh huh yeah you coming for my neck on that one yeah yeah you want the dates again no cause,
00:50:59
don't be over there googling no no no I'm not.
00:51:04
This is just going to be a complete guess. So, in fact, Dave,
00:51:08
can I do like who wants to be a millionaire?
00:51:11
Okay, here we go. All right. Okay. So at first I wanted to say 1993.
00:51:18
That's kind of what I wanted to say. But then I was thinking maybe I should
00:51:22
choose 1989 because it probably came out earlier and nobody caught on to it.
00:51:27
Right. So I'm going to use my 50-50.
00:51:33
And you can tell me yes or no. Can I cross out 1991 and 1994?
00:51:42
Okay. That's what you want to do? No, I'm saying can I cross it out?
00:51:47
Are those two answers that are incorrect?
00:51:50
Those two answers are incorrect, yes. Okay. All right. All right.
00:51:55
I think I want to phone a friend. Can I go?
00:52:00
Now okay so between 90 i mean 89 89 right yeah 89 and 93 can you give me the
00:52:10
background music please.
00:52:20
Okay there you go i could have sworn i had an extra chord to it no i'm not giving
00:52:25
you no I already gave you too much already.
00:52:28
Dave, what is 1989?
00:52:36
Okay. All right. I'll tell you.
00:52:40
You almost got a perfect record there, but you blew it that time. Was it 93? It was 93.
00:52:47
Dave, that was my first. Yeah, I know, but it's funny.
00:52:51
I can understand why why you
00:52:55
did what you just did because 89 it
00:53:01
does seem like it could have happened back then you know but then i would have
00:53:08
probably did the same kind of breakdown in my head like you just did knowing
00:53:13
but i put you know i think i would have probably said 91 right because i remember 91,
00:53:21
using the internet at that time.
00:53:24
You know, but then I guess it wasn't open to the public at that time.
00:53:30
But 1993 is the answer. Okay. I got one more.
00:53:35
You should know the answer to this one, but let's see what happens.
00:53:38
I didn't want to make them too hard for you, but I got one more for you.
00:53:42
Which duo won the first Grammy for the best rap performance? Your choices.
00:53:49
Kid N Play, Naughty by Nature Salt and Pepper DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince,
00:53:57
DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
00:54:01
Is that your final answer? That is my final answer. Okay. You said that with
00:54:06
some, you said that with hair on your chest, man. Yeah, I did. I did.
00:54:11
Yeah. Okay. All right. All right. Now, I didn't know it was best rap performance.
00:54:17
I thought they had a best rap album or best rap song. No, it was best rap performance.
00:54:22
Matter of fact, I remember when they performed it on the Grammys.
00:54:28
And, you know, mothers just don't understand, you know? So, I mean,
00:54:33
parents don't just don't understand. Yeah.
00:54:36
Mothers don't either. But but but yeah. So, yeah.
00:54:43
So you got one wrong. You did pretty good. I made them easy.
00:54:47
You know, next time I'm going to make them a little harder since you think you know everything.
00:54:51
So but well, I mean, they basically got them all right. Right.
00:54:55
Well, that's only because I allow you to do the deduction thing on,
00:55:01
you know, and take two of the answers out and all that stuff. You just need to stop.
00:55:05
But anyway, you got to still got it wrong even after doing it.
00:55:08
So that's another story.
00:55:10
But I say we got some for you, too.
00:55:14
OK, just I just went to Google. Oh, here we go.
00:55:19
I knew he was going to let me get away with this. OK. And Dave,
00:55:24
I'm not going to make them too hard for you. Okay. All right. All right. Be fair.
00:55:28
All right. So these are multiple choice. Yes. Okay. All right. Go ahead.
00:55:35
So, you know, we just finished with the Olympics. Very big. America did great.
00:55:42
And you probably saw the Olympic flag flying all over the place.
00:55:47
Yeah. How many rings are on the Olympic flag? Six.
00:55:54
Do you want to hear the choices or is that your final answer?
00:55:57
Oh, go ahead. Give me the choices.
00:55:59
Choices are none, four, five, or seven.
00:56:08
Is that your final answer? Yes. You're lucky I gave you the multiple choice.
00:56:13
Yeah, I know. You know, when I said six and I started, before you said what
00:56:18
you said, I said, well, that's one too many rings.
00:56:21
Right. Yeah. So five. Yeah. Okay. Go ahead.
00:56:25
Come on. I'm ready. Come on. Okay. All right. This is another give me. Okay.
00:56:30
How does Spider-Man get his powers?
00:56:34
He was bitten by a radioactive spider.
00:56:38
Okay. All right. I don't even need to read that. No, you don't need to read that. No, no, no.
00:56:44
All right. We're going to go a little bit harder with this. Okay.
00:56:48
Which of these animals does not appear in the Chinese Zodiac?
00:56:54
What are the choices?
00:56:57
Bear, dog, dragon, rabbit.
00:57:02
Bear. okay let me let me google real quick I see you give me the choices oh my god,
00:57:13
well no no I mean I agree I think it's bear too I just want to be sure it gotta
00:57:17
be bear or rabbit I think rabbit is one there I think it is too bear it is.
00:57:27
Gotta make sure I don't give you one that's too easy Easy.
00:57:32
Try not to give me one that's too easy? Okay. All right.
00:57:36
I'm going to go out on the limb with this one for you, Dave. Okay.
00:57:43
I need you to take it all the way back to your childhood. All right.
00:57:47
In the nursery rhyme, how many black birds were baked in a pie?
00:57:55
Okay. Choices are four, 11.
00:58:00
24 or 99? 24. All right, let me Google this because this is before I was born.
00:58:09
Let's see. Yeah. 24?
00:58:16
Yes, because here it says 4 and 20. So I guess. Yeah, that's 24.
00:58:22
There you go. All right, David, for your last one, let me find a doozy for you.
00:58:29
Keep in mind, man, I'm smarter than a fifth grader, man. I'm just letting you
00:58:33
know. Oh, so you want me to find you a fifth grade question?
00:58:36
No, don't give me a fifth grade question. Those fifth grade questions are crazy these days, man.
00:58:43
Let's see. I want to find an oldie, but a goodie. Okay.
00:58:53
Yes. All right, Dave, you ready? This is your final question.
00:58:57
Okay. All right. And this right here for double or nothing. Okay.
00:59:01
Does a piano have more white keys or black keys or the same?
00:59:10
The same. All right. let me google
00:59:13
because i think it has more white keys let me see
00:59:16
it has more white keys they
00:59:19
the standard piano has 52 white keys
00:59:22
and 36 black keys you are
00:59:25
not smarter than a fifth uh well good
00:59:32
try though good try well not all
00:59:35
not and not all pianos have 32 to white keys
00:59:38
but do all pianos have more white
00:59:41
keys than black yeah actually that is a
00:59:44
question actually that is that is true though that is true as i said the same
00:59:49
i said that's wrong but i didn't want to change i didn't want to change my answer
00:59:53
so i just left it that way so i figured i'd be nice and and and be give you
00:59:59
one you know be tied with you with one wrong so So, there you go. Yeah.
01:00:05
Well, no, you actually got two wrong. I did not get two wrong.
01:00:08
I got one wrong. What are you talking about?
01:00:10
Are you sure? The last question is the one I got wrong. Okay.
01:00:13
All right. I'm just checking.
01:00:16
I know. Trying to put me in the foxhole with you. Nah, I'm standing above ground, man. All right.
01:00:23
I hear you. Yeah. I'm above ground. All right. So, you know,
01:00:30
let it let it try to get me, folks. But I ain't gonna let them do me like that.
01:00:34
So but there you have it. That's our show for tonight.
01:00:41
