00:07:06 --> 00:07:09 And one of the biggest issues we have here in Delaware, of course,
00:07:09 --> 00:07:11 across the country, is the homeless situation.
00:07:12 --> 00:07:19 And I'm in the middle of all that. I do my case manage the homeless folks that's living in the tents.
00:07:20 --> 00:07:23 We are the ones that go out there. We make sure they got the necessities they
00:07:23 --> 00:07:27 need to survive. We give them bottled water, food, clothing.
00:07:28 --> 00:07:32 Shelter if they need it. And sometimes all they really need is somebody to talk to.
00:07:33 --> 00:07:36 And that's my day job. I do that during the week. And of course,
00:07:36 --> 00:07:40 with the weather changing, as Dave eloquently said, the weather's like a roller
00:07:40 --> 00:07:43 coaster right now. You don't know where, what day we're going to get.
00:07:43 --> 00:07:49 One day it can be warm. Hang on for a second, baby. One day it can be warm. Next day it'll be cold.
00:07:50 --> 00:07:56 So we just make sure that they're safe. And we just do our very best this we
00:07:56 --> 00:08:00 had a rough winter and dave will tell you there's been some days i was like,
00:08:00 --> 00:08:06 oh i'm not making it out here but especially no snowstorms we had right uh it
00:08:06 --> 00:08:10 was it was tough but we got through it and um we're gonna keep pushing we're
00:08:10 --> 00:08:12 gonna keep pressing on you know so,
00:08:12 --> 00:08:15 you know i've been a thorn in the side i will admit i've been throwing inside
00:08:15 --> 00:08:22 the city won't yeah i am but it was a good thorn so a lot of the things that
00:08:22 --> 00:08:25 we brought to light is now starting to take fruit.
00:08:26 --> 00:08:31 Some shelters are being opened up quietly. Some of the homeless that were out
00:08:31 --> 00:08:32 there are being taken care of.
00:08:32 --> 00:08:35 We found shelters for them. We got a lot of folks in therapy.
00:08:36 --> 00:08:42 So, you know, we've been doing good work. So shout out to the Bridge Clinic, whom I work for.
00:08:42 --> 00:08:46 And we do good work. So we just keep it going. So that's what I do.
00:08:47 --> 00:08:50 Let me piggyback on what Kim just said.
00:08:51 --> 00:08:58 For those that may be listening, his division and others that have worked tirelessly
00:08:58 --> 00:09:01 as far as the homeless population,
00:09:02 --> 00:09:07 They've done a great job, really. You know, I also work for the state, too.
00:09:07 --> 00:09:10 For those who have been listening, they know that I work for the state as well.
00:09:11 --> 00:09:18 And, you know, what they've had to do over this period of time in dealing with
00:09:18 --> 00:09:21 the homeless population has been yeoman's work.
00:09:21 --> 00:09:26 And so for the job that they've done and trying to make sure that the people
00:09:26 --> 00:09:33 are taken care of as best as they can be and to try to make sure they have the resources available,
00:09:34 --> 00:09:37 the bridge clinic where Tim works.
00:09:38 --> 00:09:42 And also give a shout out to the Friendship House, who's been a major player
00:09:42 --> 00:09:45 in this whole thing as well, and the city of Wilmington.
00:09:45 --> 00:09:50 And it's been really we have to give everybody kudos as far as that's concerned
00:09:50 --> 00:09:55 in trying to help the people that need need the most help.
00:09:55 --> 00:09:59 And, you know, now now and for those that are listening, you know,
00:10:00 --> 00:10:04 just keep in mind, you're a transition into a whole new thing now because we
00:10:04 --> 00:10:07 got warm weather coming in now and hot weather coming in.
00:10:07 --> 00:10:13 So that's a whole different transition now, you know, trying to make sure that nobody is out there,
00:10:14 --> 00:10:17 you know, dying of heat strokes and stuff like that, you know,
00:10:17 --> 00:10:21 and making sure that there's cooling stations and so forth that they can go
00:10:21 --> 00:10:25 to and hopefully get a lot of them inside because, you know,
00:10:25 --> 00:10:27 not everybody wants to be inside.
00:10:27 --> 00:10:30 And that's also challenging in itself as well.
00:10:30 --> 00:10:38 So, but, but thank you to Tim and people in his department and the other departments
00:10:38 --> 00:10:41 that are doing so much to help the homeless population.
00:10:41 --> 00:10:47 So kudos to you. And I'll leave you all with this one caveat about the homeless.
00:10:48 --> 00:10:52 Everyone looks at the homeless as being substance abuse users and drug abuse
00:10:52 --> 00:10:53 users, things of that nature.
00:10:54 --> 00:10:58 That's not the case. Ladies and gentlemen, some of these folks are just for hard times.
00:10:59 --> 00:11:03 The economics, the economy. Basically, they're living paycheck to paycheck.
00:11:03 --> 00:11:06 And some of them, they miss one paycheck, they're homes.
00:11:07 --> 00:11:09 Just like, snap the finger, it's just that fast.
00:11:09 --> 00:11:13 So some of them, like I've seen families, literally families,
00:11:14 --> 00:11:16 you know, one day they're okay.
00:11:17 --> 00:11:20 30 days later, 45 days later, they're on the street.
00:11:21 --> 00:11:26 You know, with all the real estate going, building around the city of Wilmington,
00:11:26 --> 00:11:32 the state of Delaware, and of course, across the country, some folks just can't do it.
00:11:33 --> 00:11:37 They can't do it. So like Dave always knows, I always say that guy playing president,
00:11:37 --> 00:11:44 he just don't care about what's really going on with the American public.
00:11:44 --> 00:11:49 He really doesn't. He's like completely out of town. You talk to him about some money.
