00:01:11
It's rough out here in these streets, man. It's rough out here in the streets.
00:01:15
Well, just like Terrence Howard said, it's hard out here for a pimp.
00:01:20
Yeah, there you go. Yeah, there you go. Well, hold on. I'm sorry.
00:01:22
Those are your words, not mine. No, no, no, no. Your words. Those are Terrence.
00:01:27
Okay, yeah. Terrence is walking around thinking he's still a pimp.
00:01:29
You know, when you look at the left, every time I see a promo for that fight
00:01:33
night, I always laugh every time.
00:01:35
It's because Terrence is still thinking he's a pimp, you know? Yeah, I'm sure.
00:01:38
Yeah so i don't doubt it but yeah
00:01:42
everything's good man you know we we
00:01:45
can see that the season's about to change
00:01:48
right you know and you know times and you know it's getting dark quicker now
00:01:55
you know it's just it's like it's it's just funny how we're just going in like
00:02:01
this circle you know We're like the hamster on the wheel right now, right?
00:02:07
Yeah, we are. Yeah, things just come around quickly anymore.
00:02:13
Summer didn't seem like it was that long.
00:02:17
No. Well, Dave, I mean, I know they say the older you get, you know,
00:02:22
the seasons get a little shorter.
00:02:24
Yeah, that's true. That is true. Yeah. I feel like it went from April to June to August.
00:02:32
Yeah. Yeah. It feels like it definitely feels that way.
00:02:36
So, but hey, you know, we're here and I guess we're going to figure out how
00:02:44
to navigate to the next part,
00:02:47
because, I mean, we'll be setting our clocks back pretty soon in a couple of
00:02:51
weeks, you know, so I guess we'll find out what happens. Right.
00:02:56
You know, March is a big day for a lot of people.
00:03:00
Got the primaries tomorrow here in Delaware.
00:03:04
And of course, you know, I guess some other states have it going on, too.
00:03:09
So, you know, everybody needs to get out there.
00:03:13
This is a very important election for a lot of a lot of people,
00:03:17
especially the presidential and then your state, your local and state elections.
00:03:22
So please do your due diligence to get out there and,
00:03:27
you know, and vote and make sure to try to do your research and try to get the
00:03:34
best candidates in office that would be best for your state.
00:03:41
And of course, you know, you know, as far as our country is concerned. So, yeah, definitely.
00:03:50
So we can't tell you who to vote for. But we can kind of wink-wink at you and say who not to vote for.
00:03:57
You know? Right. Right.
00:04:01
But, yeah, just get out there and try to make a difference, folks.
00:04:05
That's what you need to do. Just get out there and try to make a difference.
00:04:10
All right. All right. Well, you know, I think we're just going to go ahead and
00:04:15
get started and start going into tonight's show.
00:04:20
Yeah. And unfortunately, you know, we want to start off with a little bit of
00:04:27
bad news, but I don't want to say it's bad news,
00:04:30
but it is a shame because we we lost the icon today and we want to take a moment
00:04:38
to just reflect on him a little bit. it.
00:04:41
But, you know, today we learned of the passing of James Earl Jones.
00:04:48
And for anybody who knows anything about movies and, you know,
00:04:56
well, James Earl Jones played or voiced some of the most iconic characters in
00:05:05
our lifetime, you know. And.
00:05:10
We want to take a moment to just kind of reflect on what he,
00:05:15
how he has, you know, been a, a, a, I'm trying to think of what kind of impression
00:05:24
he's left on us from the work that he's done. Let's put it that way.
00:05:30
So why don't you start off Leonard? Why don't you give your reflection of your
00:05:36
favorite James Earl Jones roles that, you know, kind of affected you the most
00:05:42
and your thoughts on him?
00:05:45
Yeah. So, you know, I think and of course, you know, it's definitely sad to
00:05:48
hear, even though, you know, Dave was a little weird.
00:05:52
But when I heard it, I thought about all the times we had heard that he had
00:05:57
passed away before and it wasn't true. Oh, yeah.
00:05:59
Yeah. So, you know, of course, I had to go to all the blogs, you know, the news.
00:06:03
And it looked like it was pretty worldwide that I was firm.
00:06:07
But, you know, I think for me, James Earl Jones, two things.
00:06:11
One is the voice of Darth Vader. Like I just feel like that's that was always iconic.
00:06:18
Right. And then two.
00:06:20
And maybe just because, you know, one of one of what you know,
00:06:24
one of my favorite movies. But I remember him as being, you know,
00:06:29
the king of Zumanda and coming to America.
00:06:32
And when I think about James Earl Jones, some things that, you know,
00:06:36
I think are funny or scenes that are funny, a lot of them will have to do with
00:06:41
coming to America, you know, just different parts of that movie. So.
00:06:46
You know, I mean, it's sad, but, you know, I saw a couple of things saying comments
00:06:52
on people's posts that says, you know, job well done.
00:06:55
And, you know, kind of like we talked about before, you know,
00:06:57
I definitely think he lived a great life.
00:07:00
Very well respected. I'm not sure exactly how long ago, but I do remember they
00:07:06
and I should have been Googling as I was talking.
00:07:08
But they named a theater after him in New York, I believe, either on Broadway or off Broadway.
00:07:18
Let me just say. So it looks like that was the chance to see what year that was.
00:07:25
I can't see it quick enough, but there is a James Earl Jones Theater,
00:07:30
which is on Broadway. away.
00:07:32
Of course, in New York City, 138 West 48th Street between 7th Avenue and 6th Avenue.
00:07:40
So, you know, he definitely was well-respected, and a lot of people gave him
00:07:44
his flowers while he was here, which is always a good thing.
00:07:48
So, you know, of course, I'm sure his family and friends will,
00:07:51
you know, probably grieve the biggest. Okay. Yeah.
00:07:56
Well, you know, of course, you know, you named,
00:08:00
two of his you know well-known roles
00:08:04
and of course he played the voice of darth
00:08:07
darth vader and that was like you know
00:08:10
even though he had quite a acting resume prior to that darth vader thing but
00:08:17
that was the one that put him in pop culture you know what i mean because that
00:08:22
voice was just perfect for that character, you know?
00:08:27
Of course, you know, he did those, he did the, you know, Star Wars,
00:08:31
all of those movies playing Darth Vader, voicing Darth Vader.
00:08:36
And it just made for, you know, the, the care,
00:08:41
you know, it just made the character just so much bigger than life because of
00:08:45
his, you know, even though, you know, there was a guy, the guy who was playing
00:08:51
dark Vader was an actor who was a former bodybuilder.
00:08:56
Nobody even knew the guy's name because everybody just said,
00:08:58
you know, and coming to America, the King of Samoanda.
00:09:06
That was, you know, they played they were playing coming to America all weekend.
00:09:11
And I wonder if it had maybe that was the reason why, because they knew he was sick.
00:09:18
And, you know, but like I know with me.
00:09:22
The very first thing I remember seeing him in was something called The Great White Hope.
00:09:29
I think it was the name of the movie, where he played, there was a boxing champion,
00:09:36
a very well-known boxing champion named Jack Johnson.
00:09:40
And this movie was loosely based on Jack Johnson's life. And James Earl Jones played Jack Johnson.
00:09:47
I just remember how taken I was by watching this.
00:09:51
And this movie came out during the late 60s, early 70s. and I just remember
00:09:56
watching him and how good he was in this role and I just kind of followed his career from there.
00:10:04
Of course, the dark, you know, of course, the Star Wars movies came out and
00:10:08
excuse me then, of course.
00:10:13
Two of my other favorite movies i mean can't
00:10:17
forget him as the voice of mufasa and the lion king yeah i mean you know even
00:10:23
though he wasn't in the whole movie his you know the moment that he was in there
00:10:29
he just kind of commanded hit your attention you know so so and then the other role,
00:10:36
we had the lion king and filled the
00:10:39
dream he was good
00:10:42
in filled the dreams too you know as the
00:10:45
writer in filled the dreams and and i thought that was good but there's a very
00:10:51
famous did you watch the big bang theory uh yes i i have watched it did you
00:10:59
ever see the one with james earl jones No. Oh, my God.
00:11:04
That one is so funny. If you ever get a chance, look up James Earl Jones.
00:11:11
He's Sheldon. He's one of Sheldon's favorite writers or something.
00:11:18
I forget what the scenario.
00:11:20
But Sheldon gets to hang out with this guy.
00:11:23
And James Earl Jones is pulling all these stunts.
00:11:27
He's just so opposite of what you're used to seeing him
00:11:30
and it is hysterical it has
00:11:33
you laughing the whole time you're watching this show and between
00:11:36
him and sheldon being together and he's playing sheldon ends up playing the
00:11:42
straight guy in this thing because james earl jones has him doing all kinds
00:11:46
of stuff you know but if you get a chance look up look up the the episode with
00:11:52
james earl Jones. It was funny. It really was.
00:11:55
Alright, well done. But yeah, he was a great actor.
00:11:59
Surprisingly, never won an Academy Award. Won Tony's, won Emmy's.
00:12:06
Nominated but never won an academy award he
00:12:09
got a special he got an honorary academy award
00:12:13
i think they said in 2011 somewhere around there
00:12:16
but he was never won one but 93
00:12:20
years old led a full life yes
00:12:24
he did a lot of great memories and he
00:12:27
surely will be missed i mean you and i since we
00:12:30
started this podcast we've had some very iconic people to pass over the years
00:12:38
that we've been doing this podcast so they're all you know the check marks are
00:12:45
checking next to each one of these icons.
00:12:50
And you know ironically with them though most of them have lived a long life
00:12:57
and gave us a lot You know, so they have nothing to be.
00:13:02
We don't have anything to be too sad about because they did what they were supposed
00:13:08
to do, you know, and they and they left nuggets.
00:13:12
They left information, they left great,
00:13:16
great performances and definitely gave us the impressions that could last our
00:13:26
lifetime, our own lifetime.
00:13:29
And those are the people that our kids and grandkids that we come in contact
00:13:33
with when we say, hey, you need to sit down and watch this movie.
00:13:36
When you sit down with your kids and say, this is the greatest movie of all
00:13:41
time coming to America this is the greatest movie of all time you just gotta
00:13:46
sit there and watch it once you know and that's what it is that's what you do.
00:13:54
Kudos to James Earl Jones and thank you thank you for everything that you did for us,
00:14:03
people of color and for those who love movies,
00:14:08
love plays and everything that
00:14:10
you did so so we
00:14:14
didn't we wanted to take a moment folks just to acknowledge mr james earl jones
00:14:19
so thank you for indulging us for that and i'm sure if you have any james earl
00:14:23
jones movies or or thoughts that you want to share feel free to you know send
00:14:30
Send them to us and let us know.
00:14:32
Okay. Moving along.
00:14:36
Our first story here is.
00:14:40
I was listening to the radio this morning, and they kind of mentioned it,
00:14:45
and then it kind of popped up on my newsfeeds.
00:14:47
I wanted to get your impression of this, but I'm going to read a little bit
00:14:51
of it first. It says, Captain Save the Kang.
00:14:55
Rumors alleges Megan Good covers Jonathan Major's bills and child support insiders
00:15:04
and social media raise concerns.
00:15:05
And the story goes on and says, put the pay PR relationship rumors to rest because
00:15:13
Megan Good's circle reportedly worries that she's the only one who pays for
00:15:19
everything in their relationship with Jonathan Majors.
00:15:22
The beloved Betty is in her bag, but is her man in it too?
00:15:28
Well, we knew Goode held down her Kang in court during his domestic assault trial,
00:15:36
but an anonymous source told Life and Style that she's also holding down his
00:15:43
expenses and child support payments, and even if she may not be able to pay...
00:15:52
To pay, I'm sorry folks, her own mortgage.
00:15:57
Girl, what? Somebody said.
00:16:02
It's been a grand opening, grand closing for the Creed three-star who was poised
00:16:09
to dominate Hollywood like he had already conquered the box office in early 2023.
00:16:16
After he was charged from a domestic violence dispute
00:16:19
with ex-girlfriend major rising star
00:16:23
went into a free fall and it seems so did his
00:16:25
finances his impressive slate of
00:16:28
brand deals oscar buzzworthy movies
00:16:31
and representation quickly went down the drain
00:16:34
even marvel which had the part already set up for him to play kang the conqueror
00:16:42
played a key playing a key villain through the franchise for reported 20 million
00:16:49
You imagine losing that on $20 million, man.
00:16:52
Dropped majors immediately following the assault and harassment conviction in December.
00:17:00
You know, when you think about this, you know, because you and I,
00:17:05
we've talked about this relationship in the past.
00:17:08
You know, remember, I don't know if you remember, I said, I don't think it to be real.
00:17:15
I think I think she was helping out a friend and trying to get trying to get
00:17:23
him back to a point that people would take chances on him again and then I think
00:17:28
the whole truth would probably come out after that you know,
00:17:33
I just don't understand but then,
00:17:37
I don't know people do things for strange reasons I just don't understand what
00:17:41
she thought would come out of this.
00:17:46
But then people do things for, like I said, strange reasons.
00:17:50
I mean, what do you think about this? If this is true, that he's paying all
00:17:54
his bills because he's financially strapped right now, is this what he really,
00:18:00
is this really love or is he still trying to help out a friend?
00:18:05
So I think, I would think that their relationship is more real than not real.
00:18:10
And I only say it because it seemed like Megan Good really had nothing to gain.
00:18:17
You know, they got together while he was in the midst of all them allegations.
00:18:23
Everyone dropped him. People probably looked at her funny because,
00:18:27
OK, he's alleged to beating his girlfriend and then you're with them.
00:18:30
You know, they're probably thinking that same going to happen to you.
00:18:33
And then he started losing movie roles. troubles that
00:18:37
and they y'all know when that child support started
00:18:40
to hit you know so to be honest i don't
00:18:42
really see a benefit of her staying with him fake
00:18:46
you know faking a relationship so that that's the
00:18:49
only reason why i think it's real um as far as her paying his bills i mean they
00:18:55
i mean not in a bad way but you know that there's there's ladies now who are
00:19:02
meeting men and And they're moving into their places within the next month and eating up all the kids'
00:19:07
Pop-Tarts and Little Debbies and drinking up all their juice boxes during the
00:19:12
day, playing their video games and kicking up their Nike Air Force Ones on the couch.
00:19:19
So while kind of like baby boy, when Jody was driving Taraji's instant car around,
00:19:28
he dropped her off at work and then profile around 10.
00:19:30
Yeah, there you go. So, her paying her bills, you know, I don't think that's a bad thing.
00:19:36
Now, I will say, you know, Jonathan Majors is talented.
00:19:41
I doubt he would even even have made it where he was in Hollywood if he wasn't a hustler prior.
00:19:48
So I'm sure he's still hustling and maybe she can see that hustle in him.
00:19:53
And, you know, she just kind of believes him because I just Googled real quick
00:19:57
because I thought I thought, but I wasn't sure.
00:20:00
So in in June, it was announced that he finally got a major role.
00:20:07
Yeah, I did see that. Yeah. Yeah, so I'm looking here, and I can't see what
00:20:12
the movie is, and I don't feel like reading through it, but I don't know how soon actors get paid.
00:20:18
Like, yeah, like, you know, if you're getting $20 million for a movie,
00:20:22
like, is that the contract signed before you start? Do they break it up? Do you get a money?
00:20:26
Well, that movie, he ain't getting $20 million. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:20:30
Yeah, I know. He's not getting $20 million, but, you know, I'm sure he'll get something.
00:20:34
Yeah, he'll get something. Now, Dave, what would be dirty would be is when he gets his money.
00:20:43
Yeah, that he don't get no money.
00:20:46
Well, no, obviously when he gets his money, he kicks it to the curb,
00:20:49
like they break up. Now, that may be a little messed up.
00:20:53
Yeah, that would be. I mean, you know, if he sticks around with him long enough, he could get back.
00:21:00
You know there's a possibility that one
00:21:03
role could be a breakout role for him but
00:21:06
i remember the guy who was in
00:21:09
what's his nate nate what's nate's last name
00:21:12
yeah he was in airman yeah something days a slave i know yeah yeah right the
00:21:20
same thing was happening with him he was his star was rising and everything
00:21:24
he was getting all these parts and he had a similar thing that happened to him
00:21:28
You know, allegations. You ain't seen him.
00:21:32
Harley says that. Well, Dave, he ain't have no making good by his size.
00:21:36
That's right. There you go.
00:21:38
You know, and that's the difference because, you know, he had,
00:21:42
and that's what, that's what always meant. Why?
00:21:45
I just, I just didn't understand why, but then, you know, I listened to her
00:21:48
talk about it and then she said they've been friends for years and they've,
00:21:53
you know, they've always had a great relationship with each other and whatever.
00:21:56
And he she said that
00:21:59
you know they got closer because she spent they spent more time talking during
00:22:05
that period of time and she realized that everybody you know had basically disappeared
00:22:11
from his life you know so you know and when you're on top you know remember
00:22:17
what mike jones said back Back in the day,
00:22:19
you know, you know, he was like, you know, back then they didn't know me and
00:22:25
now they all up on me, you know, you know, so there you go.
00:22:30
So, but you know, when, when people don't want to know you, they don't want
00:22:33
to know you. No, not at all.
00:22:36
So we'll, but we'll have to keep an eye on what happens with this because,
00:22:40
you know, the, you know, that, that whole thing with Marvel, you know, not only.
00:22:47
Did he lose out on that role which
00:22:50
was going to be big for him but it also kind of derailed a lot of what marvel
00:22:57
was doing because they had big plans for that character well i wonder why they
00:23:03
just didn't switch it to somebody else well they are they are doing that now.
00:23:09
Even to the point that they were talking about, who was that that they were saying?
00:23:14
I forget who it was. There was another popular actor that they were thinking
00:23:18
about having them play that role.
00:23:21
I can't remember who it was. But anyway, they are thinking about switching it.
00:23:27
But because they had thrown everything, all the eggs in his basket, now you got it.
00:23:34
That sounds like when Chadwick died, you know, that put them in a little state
00:23:39
of flux because then they had to figure out what they want to do with Black Panther, you know.
00:23:45
So, you know, so that can make a difference when things, when life-changing
00:23:49
events happen with a lot of these stars.
00:23:53
But we'll keep an eye and see what happens. And hopefully Megan,
00:23:56
hopefully Megan is not putting herself in a situation where she,
00:24:05
it is true that she's paying all of these things.
00:24:09
And, you know, maybe, maybe eventually he'll get back on his feet and he's able
00:24:14
to, you know, alleviate or repay some of this stuff, you know, if it's true.
00:24:21
But I guess we'll find out how true everything is. Well, and the last thing,
00:24:25
I don't even want to expand on it, but maybe this is not even true.
00:24:31
Maybe she's not paying for his stuff.
00:24:34
You know, it's just a rumor. Yeah. And I'm sure she's going to come out and
00:24:37
say something about it. You know, I'm sure. So we'll see.
00:24:41
I guess we'll follow. We'll follow along. See what happens. So.
00:24:45
All right. OK, Megan, be good. All right.
00:24:51
I couldn't read this. Alright, moving on to our next story,
00:24:58
Well, apparently, Lil Wayne's fans were outraged when it was announced who the
00:25:07
Super Bowl halftime performer was going to be for the upcoming Super Bowl.
00:25:13
And it was announced that Kendrick Lamar was going to be the halftime show.
00:25:19
Now, it shouldn't be too surprising because Kendrick Lamar had an awesome year.
00:25:24
You know, basically off of one song. but it was a big song because that song
00:25:30
was showing up everywhere you know and so forth even though it didn't win song of the year.
00:25:38
It won they said it came in third place behind Post Malone and Shabuzy and I was like nobody,
00:25:49
I can't think of a song that was on that got as much airplay as Not Like Us I know,
00:25:56
but you gotta, you gotta know we, and I know white people listen to black music,
00:26:02
but there's a whole gang of white people who are listening to other stuff too.
00:26:06
Yeah, that's true. That's true. That's true.
00:26:09
But, you know, and, and Lil Wayne, you know, he had a decent year.
00:26:13
I mean, I don't know why they would get as upset, but I was reading,
00:26:18
I was reading a little bit.
00:26:20
It says uh let's see because
00:26:24
it's in new orleans they filled that
00:26:27
little wayne because that's his place to be
00:26:30
the person performing now little
00:26:33
wayne you know he you know of course i call him the king of the collabos because
00:26:37
you know little wayne's always quick to get put a verse on here or verse on
00:26:42
right you know he when's the last time he really put out a whole album of of
00:26:48
his stuff it's been a minute, right?
00:26:50
It's been a minute. Yeah. So, so.
00:26:54
And, you know, and a lot of people were giving him, a lot of people felt that
00:27:00
he should have been the guy performing there.
00:27:02
Even Master P was even saying that. And, you know, he's a New Orleans person too.
00:27:08
And that it shouldn't be Kendrick Lamar.
00:27:12
But then, I mean, I don't have a problem with Kendrick Lamar.
00:27:17
I mean, considering the year that he had now, the only controversy that I can
00:27:24
see with it is because his actual number one song was really a diss record. Right.
00:27:31
You know, he is kind of saying some when you listen to the actual uncut version
00:27:38
of it, he says some pretty slick stuff in there, you know, and about one of
00:27:44
a lot of people's favorite rappers.
00:27:46
Rappers, Mr. Drake himself.
00:27:49
So, but is this a ploy to possibly maybe had them to perform together?
00:27:56
No, I doubt it. So, Dave, no. So, you know, I want to know this,
00:28:01
and I'm going to play a little bit of Devil's Advocate and throw a monkey wrench.
00:28:05
When did we start using Super Bowl performers based on the city that the Super Bowl was in?
00:28:12
Man that's a good question because the only time the
00:28:16
only time they did it before was when they'd had dr
00:28:18
gray snoop and all them people in la like as
00:28:22
far as rap yeah but you know before i mean so so that's basically means that
00:28:27
nobody from the north or east coast can ever perform at the super bowl because
00:28:33
the super bowl is never never in our there's been one there's been one super bowl,
00:28:40
on the East Coast,
00:28:43
since I know of.
00:28:47
And I think that was played in the Dome Stadium. Yeah.
00:28:52
So I just say that to say, you know, I don't know why we feel like the Super
00:28:57
Bowl performer has to match the city that they're in.
00:29:01
So, I mean, that's only why, I mean, Kendrick, I don't think it's a bad choice,
00:29:06
but, you know, I think it's ironic.
00:29:07
When was the last time there was a non-black or a
00:29:11
non-rap non-rmb performer at the super bowl like i mean not not to play devil's
00:29:17
advocate but i mean we you know the super bowl halftime show has been very black
00:29:23
for a good minute yep and that's the reason why is because the lack of appeal
00:29:30
to the audiences and especially the minority audiences and and you know and
00:29:38
a lot of these artists that have been performing later are all there they cross all different types of.
00:29:47
Ethnicities when it comes to the people that listen to their music you know
00:29:51
i mean look Look, quiet as it's kept,
00:29:54
some of the biggest purchasers of rap and hip-hop are whites.
00:30:03
I mean, you know, let's look at it. Let's keep it real. We got so many white performers out here.
00:30:10
Jack Harlow and, you know, of course, the guy Eminem, one of my favorite rappers, is a guy.
00:30:16
A lot of people probably don't know who he is, but there's a guy on the internet, Harry Mack.
00:30:21
I love that dude man that dude is a beast
00:30:24
white guy you know they you know so so when you think about it that's why they've
00:30:32
been having these shows and the shows have been very successful i mean they
00:30:36
brought jay-z on jay-z has been keeping things interesting ever since you know,
00:30:44
Now, the only person that they can put out there right now that we know them
00:30:48
people would lose their mind about.
00:30:51
But apparently she doesn't want to do it. Taylor Swift.
00:30:56
The only person you can put out there that would go people would just go berserk over.
00:31:02
Right. But that's not going to happen because she really doesn't want to do it.
00:31:06
You know, and keep in mind, these guys don't get paid.
00:31:09
They get you know they you know of
00:31:12
course the nfl takes care of a lot of the stuff that
00:31:15
they need for their performances but they don't get paid to
00:31:18
perform but of course you know they of course what comes after performing is
00:31:25
how they make their money you know so so it's going to be interesting i mean
00:31:31
we got a long time before that period time comes up but i'm sure there's There's
00:31:36
going to be a lot to be said.
00:31:38
It's going to be interesting to see who else he has on his show,
00:31:42
whether it's going to be another West Coast-type show or whether he's going
00:31:47
to have some surprise guests here with him or whatever,
00:31:49
because he has done a lot with other artists as well, so we'll see what happens.
00:31:56
But I just thought it was interesting because, you know, New Orleans is all
00:31:59
up, you know, they all love that.
00:32:02
But New Orleans is always, you know, they always seem to be different when it
00:32:07
comes to, you know, they always, you know, they're very sensitive when it comes to their traditions,
00:32:16
you know, whether, you know, it has to do with the sound as far as the hip hop,
00:32:24
their part in history as far as hip hop goes.
00:32:27
When it comes to New Orleans period because they just do everything in a different way, you know?
00:32:33
So I'm sure that they're probably going to,
00:32:38
you know, Kendrick seems like the type of guy that would go to Lil Wayne or
00:32:42
somebody like that and say, hey, look, man, I don't have a problem with you
00:32:46
coming and hanging out with me and performing, but then, I don't know. Baby.
00:32:52
We'll see.
00:32:55
We'll see. We'll see. All right. It would be smart of him to have somebody from
00:32:59
New Orleans on the show with him. Yeah.
00:33:01
And I agree. Bring somebody up. Bring a couple of people up. You know, we'll see.
00:33:05
All right. I just wanted to bring that up because, man, they were making a lot of noise about that.
00:33:10
I heard that on the radio a few times earlier today. So.
00:33:17
Okay, moving on to our next story. Now, were you aware of this next story?
00:33:23
Did you know about this from yesterday?
00:33:24
Yeah, I saw the video. Okay.
00:33:28
All right. So, for you football fans out there, football season started this weekend.
00:33:36
Hats off to our Eagles. Won on Friday night.
00:33:40
Boo to the Cowboys, who also won yesterday. That's all I'm going to say about them.
00:33:45
So but apparently there was a football player who had a bad day you know well
00:33:52
the first part of his day was bad the second part of his day was great you know
00:33:57
so i'm gonna put it that way,
00:33:59
so for you for those of you that are big football fans know who tyree kill is
00:34:05
he's a wide receiver who plays for the Miami Dolphins.
00:34:11
One of the fastest players in the league, if not the fastest.
00:34:17
They call him the Teeter for a reason. The guy's fast.
00:34:22
He used to play for Kansas City and won a Super Bowl with Kansas City and then
00:34:27
got traded to the Dolphins a couple years ago.
00:34:30
Well, he ended up with the Dolphins a couple years ago. Well,
00:34:34
yesterday on his way to the game, And he was in, let's see, let me make sure I got the right car here.
00:34:45
He was on his way to the game and he decided that he wanted,
00:34:51
I guess he was in a little bit of a hurry because he was doing something.
00:34:56
He was doing over 100 and close to 140 miles an hour in his,
00:35:02
I think it was a Lamborghini or Ferrari.
00:35:07
I forget which one it was. It doesn't say.
00:35:10
I'm not in front of me. But anyway, but it was in a 40 mile an hour zone. Let's put it that way.
00:35:17
That's crazy. That's crazy, right? And he's flying apparently on his way to the stadium. him.
00:35:23
Gets pulled over. Should not be a surprise.
00:35:26
He gets pulled over and apparently gets into a heated exchange with the officer
00:35:34
that pulls him over and ends up being put on the ground,
00:35:42
wrestled to the ground, I'm going to put it that way, and placed in handcuffs.
00:35:46
And they show video of him on the ground
00:35:49
with a with by this time other
00:35:52
officers had gotten there and you see
00:35:54
all these officers standing around him aggressively talking to
00:35:58
him and you see eventually they pull
00:36:01
him up to his feet and whatever but i don't
00:36:04
know if you noticed during the video there was cars that were pulling up
00:36:07
and stopping they were teammates oh were
00:36:10
they that's who those people were oh and
00:36:13
they're asking what's going on and so forth and they're trying to talk to them
00:36:16
the cops are telling them you know none of your business and you know you know
00:36:20
this is you know we got this handled and so forth you guys go ahead because
00:36:25
if you see a couple cards that stop you see them kind of move off after a while
00:36:29
because they were told to leave the scene hold on so
00:36:33
his teammates were late to the game too well they weren't yeah everybody was
00:36:39
on their way to the game you know because they had to be there by a certain time and.
00:36:46
And another one of the players was also, they didn't talk much about this,
00:36:51
but there was a second Dolphins player who said that he was handcuffed while
00:36:56
trying to discuss what was going on with Tyreek.
00:37:00
And they didn't like his attitude, and they cuffed him too.
00:37:06
So now there's a big maternal affairs investigation on the matter.
00:37:11
And of course the officers involved have
00:37:15
been placed on administrative leave already here we go you know so we already
00:37:19
know when that happens there's something that's going on you know so because
00:37:24
otherwise they they wouldn't have done that let's see and then of course there's
00:37:31
a investigation going on.
00:37:36
He gets to, you know, it comes out on, comes out as breaking news yesterday,
00:37:41
just before the game started.
00:37:43
And, you know, you know, you hear all this talk and they said,
00:37:46
well, they said that he is going to play in the game though.
00:37:49
And that they, you know, they finally released them and whatever.
00:37:53
He gets to the football stadium, you know, he's talking to everybody.
00:37:58
He goes, you know, he goes here about the game. The game starts,
00:38:01
and this guy goes out and gets 130 yards of reception.
00:38:07
An 80-yard to him. He scores a touchdown out and runs off.
00:38:13
And then gets up, gets there, puts his hand behind his back,
00:38:17
and they do a simulation of him being handcuffed.
00:38:21
Oh, okay. I did not see that part. No, I did not see that part.
00:38:25
I think there's that link that you might have that I said. I think there's a video of it.
00:38:34
But it's so funny. Yeah, he immediately gets in the end zone.
00:38:38
He puts his hand behind his back, and one of the other players comes up and
00:38:41
acts like he's locking him up. Yeah.
00:38:46
You know, he's putting a handcuff on him. Yeah. So it was pretty interesting,
00:38:51
you know. But a lot of people, of course, some people didn't think it was funny.
00:38:56
But you got to laugh sometimes. You got to laugh.
00:39:01
But he ended up, he did end up scoring.
00:39:04
And he definitely had a big day. And they won the game.
00:39:08
So thank God that he was able to make it to the football stadium that day. So, yeah. Right.
00:39:13
But it's interesting. In his press conference after the game He did say something
00:39:21
that was pretty interesting Which was What if I wasn't Tyreek Hill.
00:39:30
Yeah, I mean, it probably would have been messed up for him.
00:39:32
Well, you know, I was just thinking, if I'm Noah Lyles, I'm probably going to
00:39:36
say something like, oh, you aren't fast enough to escape the police.
00:39:41
Because, you know, him and Noah Lyles have been talking a lot of junk about
00:39:45
who's fast. I know, I know. And Lyles won't raise him.
00:39:49
He wants to do a 60-yard dash with Lyles, but Lyles won't raise him unless it's
00:39:58
a 100-yard dash. Yeah, no, I agree.
00:40:00
Yeah, because Tyreek knows that he can beat him in a 60-yard.
00:40:04
He probably could beat him in a 60-yard dash. Right.
00:40:07
You know, but he won't do it unless it's a 100-yard dash. So, okay. All right.
00:40:14
But that was, you know, I thought that was interesting. And that was the,
00:40:18
you know, of course, that was the story of yesterday with the whole thing.
00:40:22
And I guess we'll find out how, what really transpired. Because I'm sure there's
00:40:28
more to the story that they talked about.
00:40:30
So we'll see what happens. Okay.
00:40:33
All right. All right.
00:40:37
And you have anything to add there? No, I mean, I mean, I think,
00:40:43
I think it's pretty sad. If you, if you see the video, it's pretty self-explanatory.
00:40:47
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Black man in handcuffs. Yep.
00:40:51
That's self-explanatory.
00:40:52
There you go. All right.
00:40:55
Well, actually, man, we're at the end of the show already.
00:41:00
Okay. All right. So here we are. Let us favorite part of the show, Dave's Corner.
00:41:06
So I got philosophical or question for him, so forth. And let me ask you this real quick.
00:41:14
Do you watch Bel-Air? Not really.
00:41:17
Oh, yeah. Here we go. Okay. I don't have the, you know, I don't have that account. Okay.
00:41:30
There's so much I can say, but I won't. Well, okay. So anyway, it's a great show.
00:41:37
I've talked about this before, but I kind of watched the finale,
00:41:42
the season finale a couple of days ago.
00:41:45
And it was pretty interesting. thing
00:41:48
and for anybody that's in that that watches that
00:41:51
watch the first prince of bel-air i really love
00:41:54
what they've done with this show and how they
00:41:57
flipped it to this new show bel-air and they've taken a serious look at everybody
00:42:03
and changed the not necessarily change the characters but kind of give you a
00:42:09
different perspective of the characters that we all came to love watching the
00:42:14
first prince So with that being said,
00:42:17
the question for Dave's Corner today,
00:42:19
in light of the first Prince of Bel-Air and its reboot called Bel-Air,
00:42:24
which two of your favorite TV shows from the past would you want to have rebooted
00:42:31
in this type of format like they did with Bel-Air?
00:42:36
All right so i'm going to go off the cuff with these
00:42:39
one one of the shows i really
00:42:42
like growing up 21 jump street so
00:42:46
like that was all right so what would you want to make it a comedy because no
00:42:51
no no no but but i mean you talked about a reboot where maybe they went deeper
00:42:55
into the characters yeah so thank you but 21 jump street okay all right yeah
00:43:02
so that's one all right and And then,
00:43:05
and you just made me forget what the other one was.
00:43:08
Oh, don't blame it on me. Now, I would love to, and I mean, this is a kind of
00:43:13
a spin-off, a black version of Three's Company.
00:43:19
Okay. Using the same names and everything? Yes. Oh, man. You know.
00:43:26
You're in no trouble with Jack and, man, what was it, Chrissy and Janet and Mr.
00:43:34
Furley and Lana.
00:43:37
Yeah, that would probably be off the hook.
00:43:44
Okay, all right. Well, all right. Now, what about you, Dave?
00:43:49
In light of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot, Bel-Air, of course,
00:43:54
which two of your favorite shows from the past would you want to reboot?
00:44:02
I think what's happening would be one of what the kids, especially focusing
00:44:07
on, you know, Rod and D and, and, and the, and the other character rerun and so forth.
00:44:15
I think that would be an interesting show to reboot and just to see how they
00:44:22
get more in depth with those particular kids and so forth.
00:44:28
And then the other one, And only because they kind of did it with one of the
00:44:35
characters on the show already.
00:44:38
And that was Family Matters.
00:44:42
Family Matters was very interesting when they took the character Stephen Urkel
00:44:51
and made him into Stephen Arkell.
00:44:54
And when they did that, it sort of gave you a flip of the Urkel character into
00:45:02
somebody smooth and debonair.
00:45:05
I think that would have been interesting if they did the whole cast that way,
00:45:10
just to see how it was with the mother and the father, the Winslows.
00:45:18
And then Laura and Eddie, you know, and the aunt, just to see how those people
00:45:27
would have reacted being flipped into a more serious character and so forth.
00:45:33
So that would be my, those would probably be my two.
00:45:37
I think those two, and they both were on TV for a long period of time,
00:45:41
especially on Family Matters. They were on for 10 years.
00:45:45
So, so if we had a chance to flip those characters, those would be the ones
00:45:51
that I would probably flip.
00:45:54
What makes Bel-Air work so well is the fact that we were treated to glances
00:46:04
of different idiosyncrasies of each character on that show,
00:46:11
on the original show, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, including Will and Carlton and so forth.
00:46:18
And they all had these certain idiosyncrasies that made them unique.
00:46:24
Well, what I like about this new show that they've done is that they've taken
00:46:29
those idiosyncrasies and they made them more pronounced and gave us an opportunity
00:46:36
to be able to see just how deep these idiosyncrasies are.
00:46:42
And had and
00:46:46
the trauma that probably was around it
00:46:49
or the depression there
00:46:52
was a lot of stuff that kind of came out about each character based on the small
00:46:58
glimpse of the idiosyncrasies they gave us right yeah so and I think the two
00:47:06
shows that I just mentioned you probably would see that with those shows especially
00:47:09
what they did like I said earlier
00:47:11
with Family Matters when they took Urkel and made him into Urkel.
00:47:16
Right. Which was pretty cool. Yeah.
00:47:22
But those would be mine too. So, folks, if you have your own thoughts on who you would,
00:47:30
what shows you would like to flip or what shows you would have liked to see rebooted.
00:47:34
Give us your thoughts on that and, and, you know, share them with us.
00:47:39
You can put it on our news and trends with Dave and lens page and.com.
00:47:45
You know, or you can reach out to us on our, our Facebook page and,

00:47:54

00:47:58
That's it folks. folks then you got anything you want to
00:48:01
add no you know i just want to encourage people who
00:48:04
in their cities have the option to vote tomorrow
00:48:07
please make sure you take that option just yeah what they say souls to the polls
00:48:13
there you go there you go it is your right and you know and if anything that
00:48:18
we've learned since 2016 is that we can make a difference if we choose to make a difference. Right.
00:48:27
Okay. Just keep that, just keep that in mind. We can make a difference if we
00:48:32
choose to make a difference.
00:48:35
And this is one of those years. We definitely need to make a difference.
00:48:39
So, all right, folks, we will talk to you next week.
00:48:45
