Erik Robert Fleming (born February 2, 1965, in Chicago, IL) is an American politician who was a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives representing the 72nd District from 1999 to 2008. He was the Democratic nominee for one of the state's two U.S. Senate seats in the November 4, 2008, general election, and was defeated. Erik is a former Deputy Sheriff with the Fulton County (GA) Sheriff’s Office. Previously, Erik was the Director of Policy with the American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi. Erik continues to advocate for the causes of African Americans through his podcast, A Moment with Erik Fleming.
